What is the ideal amount of time before your trip to reserve a resort? Does Disney limit how far in advance you can reserve? Thanks!

but I think more than 9-12 months or so in advance they don't guarantee the rate. And you can always cancel. Depending on how you book you may be asked for a deposit soon after booking/maybe not.

The deposit is the first night, and you must cancel within five days of arrival to retrieve it. Also, you can book as far ahead as you want (people had the millenium booked for years), but they will only guarantee the rate through the end of the current calendar year. Also, if you are using a code discount, they are only good for certain time periods.

Reservations can be made for Disney resorts several years in advance. If you are planning a visit during a holiday such as school breaks the farther in advance the better. Unfortunatly this also limits the chances of getting a special discount rate. Those are usually decided 3-6mons in advace at the most.

Like everyone else said, you can book it as far in advance as you would like but keep calling back to try to switch it over to the discounted rate when they are released. We always do this so we can guarantee where we want to stay. We book about twelve months out, and then call back at six months and then again every couple of weeks until we leave. We have been able to get lower rates every time, eventually saving us up to $50 a night sometimes. You will have to pay the deposit at the higher rate though, but then it is just credited towards your stay.

Thanks for the advice. I MIGHT be interested in a New Years one of these times, but I'm not sure. Doesn't hurt to start looking I guess, and maybe even reserve one. Thanks again!!
