If you could pick only one soundtrack from a Disney movie which one would it be?

For me it would be Mary Poppins followed closely by Tarzan (Phil Collins). I know I know so so many to choose from!

There are a few good 'complete' soundtracks but a lot of great songs in the disney arsenal. Because of that, I'm thinking of putting together a compilation CD, or three, from the tunes I own.)

But, to answer the question, I'd have to go with:
a) Mary Poppins
b) The Jungle Book
c) The Nightmare Before Christmas
d) The Lion King
e) Beauty and the Beast
f) Aladdin
g) The Little Mermaid

Ooooh! Definately Mary Poppins hands down! But in terms of animated films...hmm...I love:
Little Mermaid
Aladdin
Beauty and The Beast
Lilo and Stitch
Lion King
Hercules
Mulan
Pocahontas
and though I'm not sure if it had a full soundtrack, but "Let's Get Together" from the original Parent Trap (Both the Haley Mills and the Annette Funicello versions)

Mary Poppins
Hercules (This would be great on Broadway!)
Jungle Book
Aristocats
Tarzan (I cry when I sing, You'll be in my heart...it is a mother thing!)
Cinderella
Lady and the Tramp

I guess I just love all of the original movies that I saw when I was a little girl! I was a CM when my daughter was 18 months old, so I would buy the Disney Classics CD's and teach her all of the songs!!! She used to love to sing "We are Siamese..." from Lady and the tramp and would love to hear the mice sing in Cinderelly..Gus Gus was her favorite!!!

Oh me too! That movie was out when my oldest daughter was younger and I cried. But when my now almost 3 year old was born 3 months premature and was in the hospital for 3 1/2 months, that song really makes me boo hoo!!!

Um... what the heck guys... no one else for Hunchback of Notre Dame?

I don't think Disney has ever had a more powerful and riviting soundtrack. Everytime i hear that last note in the beginning and the refrain of "Bells of Notre Dame" with the full choir, i get chills. And every time i hear the score from when Quasimodo thinks Esmeralda is dead, i cry.

Hercules (This would be great on Broadway!)

That's the beauty of Disney movies, just about all of them are made in Broadway fashion. I agree with songs like "I can go the Distance" and "I won't say i'm in love", this one screams Broadway.

I can't believe I forgot about Fantasia! I don't know about you, but it was one of my first experiences with classical music. Some of my all time favorite pieces of classical music are selections heard in Fantasia.

okay, I have to make a top three....there are just too many:

1) Hercules - my all time fav and I must agree with some of you on this board that it would make a GREAT Broadway show. When I was younger and I saw the movie I wanted to be one of the Muses!

2) Toy Story - I don't think anyone else has mentioned this one yet. I could be mistaken. LOVE this ST!!! Randy Newman has a true gift, 'You've Got a Friend in Me' could possibly be one of my favorite songs ever.

3) Newsies - LOVE LOVE LOVE this. My friends and I used to make up dances to all the songs when we were younger!
