View Full Version : Yo ho, yo ho, a bounceback life for me LEAVING TOMORROW 9/12!!!!!!!!!!!

:yay: Yay, we're going back! :woohoo:
So far, here is our cast of characters:
http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh157/scyoungbauer/image230.jpg
That's me in the back row (46), and DH (37) next to me. The front row is DNephew (Matt, 11), mom (she will kill me if I reveal her age) and DSis (31).
I say cast of characters so far because there is a chance that mom, DNephew and DSis will not go with us. It all depends on DNephew's grades this year. Typically we take him out of school for our annual September trip however this year his teachers were less than pleased. If his grades are not where they should be, my DSis has said that they will back out of the trip. I'm thinking that mom won't go if they don't go, but you never know. On the flip side, if we all do go, we may (I hope) be adding DSis' DBF who I will refer to as "Spaghetti" during my PTR. :upsidedow . He is awesome and I really, really want him to come with us next year.
We had such a great time this past September that we booked the bounceback offer for free dining. :dance3: This is the first year that we've booked bounceback. We never had free dining in the past but we tried it this year by booking a one day park pass and then ended up booking the bounceback for next year assuming that we will renew our AP's and only need a one day park pass. From what we've calculated, booking this way and using the AP's for park entry still works out better for us than the AP discounted room rates in September and the Disney Dining Experience card. The goal was to do whatever works out better financially. I am still calculating given that this year we have 2 credits (about $150 off each renewal) to go towards our AP renewal next year. It's all so darn complicated! :confused3
Also, we met Jenn (inkedupmomma) and her family this past September and they are going back at the same time that we are! :yay: We all booked the same resort for next year (CS...first time for us) and are really looking forward to this trip. Jenn, John, Kayla and Jack are awesome and we can't wait to get to spend more time with them next year. (MNSSHP here we come, right Jenn?)
So, I have a few dilemma's to work through so far:
1. When it comes time to book ADR's, how do we do this in case mom, DSis and DNephew are not able to go or if we are able to add our buddy Spaghetti? Do we book the entire party and try and change later once June rolls around? Do we wait unitl June to book (which will give me a nervous breakdown? We want to schedule some ADR's with Jenn and her family too so this is a dilemma for me because I don't know what to do first. What do do? What to do?
2. I want to visit Kennedy Space Center (for the first time) but am I (and is everyone else) willing to give up a day at Disney to do so? :confused3 For those that have gone, what do you think?
3. Ditto number 2 only for Sea World.
3. Do I schedule my normal commando style or go with the flow? I am a commando style person when it comes to Disney (don't want to miss anything:rotfl2:) but the family just couldn't hang this past September. :rolleyes1 Also, Jenn admits to not being a rope dropper and we were hoping that we could spend time with her and her family too.:flower3: I was thinking that we have to build in breaks next trip for DH and for mom. Mom ended up at the doctor after the last trip becaues of how much we walked and was in pain for a few weeks when we returned. DH told me today that if the weather is the same as it was this year (very hot and humid) that he doesn't want a repeat of last trip and wants our ADR's to be in different places so that we are not "stuck" at the same park for an entire day.
Given all of this, I don't really know where to start with my planning which is a first for me. :lmao:
I am looking to all of you, my DIS experts :grouphug: , for help during the planning which is why I have started my pre-trippie so early!
So, HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SUBBING:hug: Can not wait for next year!! Especially since you will be there and we are all staying at CSR!!
I have some adr choices.. we will have to dine together often! Maybe I should finish this years Tr first huh??
As for MNSSHP, heck yes!! I wanna go back 2 x again!! I don't think you can get it all done in one night! I def NEED to get pics with all the villains and Snow white and her crew! Other then that, I have nothing planned....

Get that TR finished already!
I have a few choices in mind for ADR's and am looking at the menus on all ears to make some decisions. We'll have to get together and figure some of them out.
We will probably get MNSSHP in advance for one day and get them there for the second day. Not sure though. So much is riding on if the rest of the family is going to go with us.

Here are a few thoughts so far on ADR's. We like to try new places and then every once in a while go back to a place that we enjoyed in the past. Here are a few random thoughts so far. Granted, we have a long way to go before we can make ADR's, but these are my thoughts so far.
*Brown Derby - repeat from 2 years ago - Fantasmic Package this time
*1900 Park Fare for breakfast - never been there before
*Bistro de Paris - maybe for our anniverary? :lovestruc - never been there
*Fresh Mediterranean Market for dinner - never been there
*Narcoossee's for dinner - never been there
*Kona for breakfast - repeat from last year
*Spoodles for dinner - never been there
*Yachtsman for dinner - repeat from 2 years ago
*CRT for breakfast - repeat from 2 years ago
*Boma (or Mara) for Zebra domes. This is a MUST!
We'd like to take a tour again this year. We've done the Backstage Magic tour twice (or maybe three times, I can't remember), the Behind the Seeds Tour (once in Sept 2008) which we enjoyed and the Family Magic Tour (Sept 06 or 07, can't remember). I was thinking about maybe Mickey's Magical Milestones Tour this year or the Keys to the Kingdom Tour. I know that they have age restrictions so if DNewphew does go that will be part of the decision making on what tour to take. Either that or we would schedule our tour the day that DSis and DNephew go to the Tarpon Springs area to see DNephew's Nana.
Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? We tend to like either breakfast or dinner ADR's and avoid lunch when we can.
Thanks in advance for any input!!

DH and I were talking about ADR's again. I fear that he is going to ban "Disney talk" if I keep yapping about it. We have 10 months to go and I'm not sure he can handle my daily rambles. :lmao:
Has anyone been to the Fresh Mediterranean Market at The Dolphin? We've talked about going there for a couple of years now and have never gotten there. I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion?
A couple of years ago we went to Todd English's Bluezoo for dinner on our anniversary. The food was really good. I was surprised that the restaurant was not more crowded given how good the food was. :confused3
We like CRT for breakfast better than for dinner. We were not all that impressed with the dinner menu and the desserts are pretty lame. My dinner there last trip was well, not so good actually. Breakfast is nice because as early risers, we get there before the park opens for our ADR's and it makes for great pictures. ;) Not to mention the food is better and there is interaction with princesses during breakfast. Granted, you get to see Cindy at dinner time too. :)
We made the decision that we liked the Yachtsman better than LeCellier. It was a tie for the longest time. Jenn, sorry that you had such a crappy experience there. :headache: Maybe you can give it another try? :upsidedow
Some of the tours are not that expensive. The Behind the Seeds tour was $15 and totally worth it. I have not looked into the prices of the other tours yet but I plan to do that soon. Joe (DH) wants to take the tour at the Animal Kingdom so at this point, I am confused about the whole tour thing. :confused3
And my newest dilemma is what to get DH for our anniversary? Again, the same dilemma as last year. He really liked the steins but I want to try and think of something different. I have LOTS of time but it can't hurt to start sooner rather than later.
Ok DISers, this is your cue to chime in with some help here.

Ok, so I'm bummed that I'm not getting any help here. :sad1: I must be boring as the day is long. :sad2:
I'm going to continue this pre-trippie. I guess I will just talk to myself:laughing: . Who knows, maybe I'll come up with something?
We're still struggling with our ADR decisions. I'm back to reading the menus to get more choices in the mix.
As for tours, we'll probably take one, but who knows which one. It will depend on if DNephew wants to go or not. :confused3
Do we go to Kennedy Space Center? Sea World? Do we plan a down time day? A shopping day?
About the only thing that we have not thought of changing so far is our resort. Seems that one is set in stone. :yay:
Anyone have any thoughts? Ideas?

Hi Sophia,
Sorry I'm late!!! How did I miss your link?????:confused3
Good thing is you've got plenty of time to make your plans.
As for Seaworld or the Kennedy space centre......we've been to both, though KSC only once.
Seaworld is really good, shows are all great and it does have a couple of coasters (if you like that). KSC is more of a museum type experience - loads to see and do though. I would definately say to go for one of them - Disney is great, but the other parks are really worth a visit? have you thought of Universal? We love them as much as WDW.
ADR plans sound good - though have never been to Narcoo (can't spell it so will not even try), or the Yachtsman, Spoodles. We tend to go more for character ones (for the kids of course ;)).
Take a good look at all the restaurant reviews and see what takes your fancy.
I suppose it all depends on how many are going or not - but I would be inclined to book ADRs for everyone who might be going early on, it would be easier to adjust an exisiting booking than to try and get one nearer the time.

Hi Di,
We had a Sea World here in Ohio for years and years. I had read a few TR's before we left last September and was determined to get there. We even had free tickets! We never got there because my mom had a really hard time the day before. It was so darn humid and she had just gotten out of the hospital. We didn't want to push it. I do want to get there though.
I also read a lot about KSC and I really, really want to go there as well. There are just not enough days to do it all!
We have been to Universal but dare I say, it is not for us. :confused3 We just don't care for it for some reason.
You are getting close now for your trip! Are you packed yet???!!!

I was looking at my bounceback ressie. It is interesting how they get you with the flyer that they put in your room to advertise bounceback.
Basically, the flyer is totally based on the 4 people per room, per night math. Meaning that to get to the actual price of what the room is, you have to take the advertised number on the flyer and multiply it by 4. If you don't have 4 people, you take the total you just got and divide by the number of people that you DO have.
Frustrating to say the least. A flyer with $95 per night for a deluxe (to catch your eye) comes out to $3,040 for 8 nights for 2! Go figure!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, now to the meals. Jenn (inkedupmomma) is helping me figure out what way to go. Meaning, do we upgrade to deluxe dining? I put a list together of places that we want to try again "some day." I put one of these * near the places that we really want to go to in September. The rest are "on the list" to select from. We're trying to narrow down our list of choices for next September.
These are the places that we want to try but not necessarily all of them next year:
1900 Park Fare for breakfast*
Bistro de Paris for dinner*
Citricos for dinner
Fresh Mediterranean Market for Dinner
Narcoossee's for dinner*
Rose and Crown for lunch
Teppan Edo for Lunch
Boma for Breakfast*
Here are the places that we have been to that we want to go back to, but again not all necessarily next September. There are far too many of them:
Tusker House for breakfast
CRT for breakfast*
Kona for breakfast*
Chef Mickey's
50's Prime Time*
HDDMR
Liberty Tree Tavern for Dinner
Boma for dinner*
Cape May Cafe for breakfast
Yachtsman for dinner*
Hollywood and Vine
Brown Derby
Mama Melrose
O'Hana for Dinner
Biergarten
Cap n Jacks
Whispering Canyon
Spoodles
Maya Grill
So, anyone out there wanna help me out? :confused3

Hmmmm looks like you'll NEED Deluxe to hit a good potion of that!! I'd be very tempted to upgrade to DxDDP just because it's a deal at $30/day... whereas $69.... not so much:confused3 If I had the free dining it might be the only way I could swallow Dx!!
I did 1900 park faire and boma bfasts.... I loved them both:thumbsup2
Boma bfst worked well with early am time then rope drop at AK
We did 1900 PF as a 'brunch' took the latest sitting on a 'sleep in' day then hit MK for a while.... also worked great:goodvibes
I'd recommend either/both of them. If you only do one, I'd pick 1900 PF cause there's characters, GF is gorgeous, and if you go early you can still use MK character bfast bus if ou don't have car/taxi;)
I'm getting hungry thinking about it:rotfl2:

So its only $30 to upgrade to DxDP? I say do it if that is an option. Thats not much if you can stomach eating all that food.
You could also use a couple of them for the signature dining 2 TS meals and do some more "nice" meals right? That might be nice like the Narcoosees and such. I say go for the Deluxe. :woohoo: And then do whatever switchy thing Jenn is talking about above me too! :lmao:
So does everyone get a bounceback promo or is it just random? We didnt get one. Now I'm not upset because we were not going anyway but I was just curious.

I asked about it at the desk (cause I already knew from the DIS boards it was available) the 1st girl I got knew nothing about it:confused3 The next day I asked someone else... she walked right over and got me a flyer from the filecabinet and told me to be sure to call before i checked out!! Hi Paula,
I'm trying to talk Joe into the deluxe plan. He prefers not having more than one ADR as day. Two at the most and only on our anniversary or a special day. I'm confused.
I think you should change your trip from 12-20 to the 13-21! then go to HDDMR on the 20th for John's Bday :) If not we'll work it somewhere else in there and hopefully you will join us!1 It will be that more fun with a large group!
Hey Jenn,
If we change the trip we will add a day and still go down on the 12th since it's a Saturday. I'd do it in a heartbeat....add a day. Last year Joe was ready to come home after 5 days!:scared1: I think it was the heat, humidity and the car accident before the trip that did it though.
Nonetheless, we will DEFINTELY celebrate John's birthday. Even if we have to do it early then you guys celebrate again on his actual birthday.
:lmao:

Hi Shawna,
Yep, Jenn calculated that it's like 30 bucks a person, per day to upgrade. The signature dining would be the reason we'd do it, especially since we're hoping to coordinate meals with Jenn. Even though Joe and I are both "Pooh sized" it's hard for us to eat that much while we are on vacation, especially when it is hot and humid outside. Chances are we'll do the upgrade but if my mom and the rest of family do end up going back with us, they may not be able to afford it. We're talking another $800 for them. Decisions, decisions.
We had a bounceback flyer in our room at AKL and my mom had one in their room at CBR. They were two totally different offers. Mine was for deluxe and home away from home reorts (I have it here actually....yeah, I'm that nerdy) and theirs was for value and moderate resorts. Now last year, mom didn't have one in her room, but I made her go and ask about it. They did have it available but she didn't book it! She ended up booking in March 07 for September 07. We were at the Dolphin in Sept 07 so we didn't get the option of a bounceback.
I didn't get one in my ASMu room oct 13-18th. I asked about it at the desk (cause I already knew from the DIS boards it was available) the 1st girl I got knew nothing about it:confused3 The next day I asked someone else... she walked right over and got me a flyer from the filecabinet and told me to be sure to call before i checked out!! DH and I were on a business trip since last Tuesday (we both have offices in the Albany area) and had a lot of time together since we drove from Ohio to NY so we had the chance to discuss upgrading to dxdp. I think that if it's just the two of us or the two of us and mom, we'll probably going to do it since I think mom would go for it too. I don't think that we'll do it if all 5 of us go because I think it would be hard on Matt to eat that much :scared1:. That said, I'm getting my lists together for WITH dxdp and without dxdp. :confused3 Sheesh.....this is confusing. :confused3
Inkedupmomma has some fabulous dining ideas and we'd really like to be able to join them for a few of them.
I am still looking at tours becuase I think that we are going to do one. We don't want to do one that is really long though. I've been reading about them and hope to have one selected by spring. Yeah, it takes me that long sometimes to make up my mind.
In preparation for next year I have also purchased yet another book that I hope will help me take better pictures. Let's face it, I stink at taking pictures. I love photography but for some reason, it just doesn't like me. :sad2: I'm on a mission though so hopefully I will learn something over the next 10 months.
Side story here, not really Disney related but during this fiasco all that was running through my head was my mental picture of me safe and sound at the Magic Kingdom insted of where I was at the time. While in NY I had to take the train from Albany to NYC for a meeting. The train ride was uneventful and we decided to take a cab to our office since it was raining really hard. On the way back, we were in a hurry to make the train back to Albany so we took the subway. OMG :scared1: it was NOT a pleasant experience. The subway stopped and myself and two colleagues got on. Well, there was a car that was nearly empty which is unusual so we hopped on that one. Yeah, now I KNOW why it was empty. There was this younger man on the train shouting every obscenity that you can possibly imagine and letting us all know exactly everything that he was prepared to do in order to avoid incarceration. Well, let's just say that every other person on that car was slowly trying to move to the other end of the car. I had not experienced anything quite like that before as this dude was totally out of control. All I kept thinking was "just imagine yourself at the Magic Kingdom, waking down main street, nearing Cindy's castle." I must have told myself that 100 times until we got off of the subway. In the end when the doors opened everyone FLEW out of that car while he kept on yelling at anyone that would listen. :confused3. I really enjoy visiting NYC but I'm thinking that I'll stick to cabs from now on. :rolleyes1

I love photography but for some reason, it just doesn't like me. :sad2: I'm on a mission though so hopefully I will learn something over the next 10 months.
You know what works even better??? Take tons of pictures between now and then... you don't need to print them. Take of people and buildings and animals... all different times of the day and weather. Really, practice makes perfect:thumbsup2 If you take pics just to practice..you can take the same pic over and over with different settings and stuff so you can figure out what works and what doesn't! I wanted to learn to take night pics of a full moon... yep I took probably 150 over 2 nights.... but the result at AK last month, proved to me that it was worth figuring it out!!

:rolleyes1

I'm here!!! Your trip sounds so exciting!!! We will be there in Sept. house hunting ~ do you want to meet? That will be so neat!
About your dining choices...Hollywood and Vine is great ~ we really enjoyed it. Boma for breakfast is INCREDIBLE!!! I really think you should do it on your next visit, it's not one of those places you want to put off for years, kinda like BTMRR and Splash ~ you don't know what you're missing!
We ate at Fresh in '03. It was wonderful , very different from everything else in Disney. They have the most incredible , gourmet desserts ~ the creme brulee is the best I've ever had :cloud9: I highly recommend trying Fresh too. Chef Mickey's is fun, you guys would like it. The food's pretty crappy, I would recommend breakfast if eating there.
Anyway ~ can't wait for an update! Talk with you later :)

Hi AMy,
I'd love to meet you and your family in September. Hopefully we will be there at the same time.
We are definitely going to do BOMA for breakfast. I've heard and read so much that I can't see not doing it!!!
I really want to try Fresh. I've wanted to for a few years now and just never did it. I think it's time that we try. :rolleyes1 DH is game too.

Hi Sophia,
Just back, and am catching up with everyone! You sound like your plans are coming along nicely!
Will catch up properly later, we are still totally disorganised and jet lagged here - we bought out Disney I'm afraid....this is the first holiday we've never come back with money left! I now need to find places to put everything we bought!

Di,
Glad to have you back! I can't wait to hear all about your trip. Too funny that you bought out Disney!
I'm getting ready to do an update here too. It's looking like Joe and I are the only ones going next year so I have to plan two trips....one for if the rest of the family goes, and the other if it's just the two of us. :scared1:

That's what I'd do in this case. I would make adr's under your name for the 2 of you, and adr's under his name for the other party size. Just make sure to cancel the ones you don't need ~ here on the boards there are threads , esp. in Sept. , where people post their cancellations and adr needs so it would work out fine :goodvibes
Looking forward to that update!!!

I'm getting ready to put up my Christmas tree, which makes me think about next year's trip to Disney. Why, you ask? Because are tree is a total Disney tree, from top to bottom. I am anxious to put up all of the new ornaments that we brought back last September. DH however is in no mood to help me haul all the stuff out! :snooty:
I think that my family is afraid to tell me that they are not going to go next September. My nephew told me the other day that his mom told him that they were not going back until 2010 for our 10th anniversary celebration. We are thinking of renewing our vows but after checking into the cost, it may be out of reach for us. :sad2: So now I am thinking that if they are not going for sure, we are going to upgrade to the deluxe dining plan. There are just too many 2 TS meals that we want to do so we may as well if it will just be the two of us. :teacher:
I have been browsing the menu's on allearsnet to try and make my decisions. It's hard though, because there are just too many choices.
Still have not decided on a tour...waiting to read other TR's to see what people have done and how they liked it. pirate:
Not much to share but I thought I'd at least get myself back to thinking about my planning.

Hi Amy,
Well, we got the tree up and the Disney village but no lights or decorations yet on the tree. I will work on that throughout the week.
I've talked to my sister and I'm still getting a non-committed answer. I guess I have til March to plan ADR's so I'm going to plan two sets....on with them, one without them.
Once I get ready for Christmas I'm going to go back to my OCD planning. :lmao:
The TR is basically done except that I want to post scrapbook pages as I get them done. I think that will take me all winter!
Thanks for reading.

So I did some decorating yesterday. I STILL don't know how to use this dang camera so forgive the picture quality. I really, really, really NEED to take a class before our next trip.
I can't seem to find the ornament that my sister got us for our anniversary last trip. I must have put it in a "safe place" when we returned from our last trip. I have GOT to find it. She went to DTD so many times for that thing. She had it personalized and had to try and get back there to get it. I think she had to go more than once because it wasn't ready the first time. All I know is that I HAVE to find it! Me and my dang safe places....they are killing me!
Anyway, all of the ornaments on the tree are Disney. It took me nearly an entire day to get them on because as I grabbed each one I thought about when I got it, what trip it came from, etc. Such a stroll through our past trips. Makes me want to dive back into planning this next adventure.
Start with the wreath. I didn't want it to get ruined outside so we hung in on two chains from the ceiling. I normally hang my painted windows here. I took one with flash one without since it is lit. Sorry for the quality.

http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh157/scyoungbauer/XmasStuff2008022.jpg
You can kind of see how it is suspended from the ceiling here.
http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh157/scyoungbauer/XmasStuff2008046.jpg
Tried the same dang thing with the tree. Man I need to figure out how to use my freaking camera. Also, I had planned to restring all of my ornaments with clear fishing line or green crochet thread to match the color of the tree so you could not see them. Never got to it.

Here is a picture of Tink on the top of the tree. Her wings light up and change colors:

If we don't have Tink on top of the tree, this guy sits up there....he's on the left in this picture:

Here is my little Disney village that friends got for us for Christmas a few years back. I have to get DH to hide the cords and stuff but for now, this will work.
http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh157/scyoungbauer/XmasStuff2008042.jpg
And finally......."the girls." I wish I could get more of the princesses but so far, I have only seen these three.

I hope to finish decorating by this weekend. This is really getting me in the mood for diving into next September and planning away.........

i have done the keys morning tour at MK.
guests have to be 16 and up for that one.
i really like it, have done it 4 times in the last 4 years.
if you have the disney visa card or the AAA card, you will get a discount.
you have to mention that when you book the tour.
last year i did the seeds tour also at epcot.
by showing my cc, it was $12.40 for that tour.
you have to mention you have the cards for the discount and then show them to the cm when you arrive for the tours.
next year i'll be doing that 7 hour tour of the 3 parks.
i didn't look into it this year when i was there but a year ago when i checked on it, the price was $200 but discounts available like the other tours.
no lunch provide on that backstage tour.
lunch is provided for the mk keys tour.
you order the food when you check in that morning and when you have your break, it will be at columbia harbor house.
the keys tour is one of my favorites. you get a special keys pin that is not sold anywhere. you get lunch included in the tour fee.
there are different morning times for the tours.
i always take the first tour which is at 8:30. i make sure to book it on a morning there are no emh at mk.
when you start at 8:30 and it is empty from people inside the mk, you can get great pictures. you can also hear the tour guide a lot better in case he isn't using the mic system.

Hi Sophia,
You're really set for Christmas! Your tree looks fab! We got more Disney ornaments this trip, so I can't wait to put them up.
Your village looks so sweet! I was keen to get the Cindy's castle light up ornament, but I thought it was just for tea lights. When we saw it it was electric, and I worried about the change in voltage using it over here. I decided to play safe and not get it, I didn't want to blow it up! But I'll probably get it next trip!
I think you're doing the right thing and planning to make 2 sets of ADRs - at least that way you're covered either way, it's always easier to cancel than try to find bookings.
And I'm glad I'm not the only one who forgets all my safe places!

Thanks for the info on the tours. I think we're going with the KTTK tour next year. We have done the backstage magic tour a couple of times and really enjyed it. You'll have to try it. There are discounts for Visa holders (I believe). There may be AP discounts too but I think that the Visa discount is better.

:sad2: Hey everyone,
Well, today has not been a good day for my family. :sad1:
This morning my mother-in-law passed away unexpectedly. It was such a shock. :sad2: We live in Ohio and she lived in PA so we were not even there. :sad1: My MIL was young....63 years old. We still don't know what happened and are hoping to get some answers tomorrow.
Believe it or not the sadness for the day didn't end there. :sad2: I phoned my dad to let him know and he had just found out that he has cancer. :sad1: I just don't know what to do.
We are planning a tomorrow (started today) and awaiting the arrival of relatives. Thank God I have a great family support network. Some of my family members are staying at my house to take care of my cats since we left in such a rush. I am thankful that I have them.
All this said, I really, really, really need a pick me up trip to Disney. Too bad it's not in the budget. :sad2:
Anyway, I am not sure when I will be back to trip planning but I hope to be back on soon ... I need the DIS right now.

Thanks, Di. You know what is interesting? We were here last Saturday and I was on the DIS reading parts of your TR to Joe. We got to talking and my MIL found out that you live in Scotland. She got so excited and said "you know someone in Scotland?" I replied "well, sort of." She said, "do you think that you can ask her to send me a postcard from there?" :rolleyes1 She collected postcards and I told her that I would PM you and ask. :sad1: I never got to do that and now I really feel bad.

Hi Paula,
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. The funeral is today and it seems like everything that can go wrong, is going wrong.
We got so angry with the funeral director that we moved everything to the chapel at the cemetery. Then last night we went to get out of our car and the door wouldn't shut. We got it closed and then all sorts of lights lit on the dashboard. That said, we went to the dealership this morning and they said that they could not help us, even after we told them our dilemma and circumstances. :scared1: We then went to get Joe a suit jacket since we ran out of the house with nothing. Got that done, got back into the car (you should have seen Joe climbing over everything to get in), the lights went off AND the door worked! I think his mom is messing with us or something.
Anyway, I am hoping that everything else goes smoothly. After we get home I will then begin to deal with my dad's diagnosis. :sad1:
I need a Disney fix..........

Hi, thanks for reading! I have not been very good about updating my PTR, but I have been thinking a lot about the planning. 2009 will the the first year in some time that we are only making one trip to Disney, so I am trying to get as much in my planning as I can.

Di,
We're ok I guess. I am waiting to hear from my dad on the news that he got from the specialist. He was to have two surgeries but he went to another doctor that has treated this condition with medication so they are trying that first. The specialist that he is seeing next week is for the cancer. I am not sure what way they are going to go with that yet. All in all, they were talking three surgeries but I think that the the first two are on hold, at least for now.
Christmas was nice, but quiet. We had dinner here but it you could tell that Joe was missing his mom. I think it is just going to take some time. :sad1:
I hope to get back to the Dis more often now that the holidays are over. I have to get back to scrapbooking my last trip and then dive into planning head first!

Ok so I have been sitting here thinking about our trip in September. We did make one decision. We are not going to do Deluxe dining. I went to the doctor today and it's official, I MUST go on a diet. My test numbers are showing signs that if I don't, I am going to be in trouble. So, DH and I started dieting today and are going to keep going for however long it takes. I am a member of weight watchers on line so I am going to take advantage of the menu planning, etc. and see where that takes us. DH has also decided not to renew his handicapped parking pass but I am not sure that this is a good idea. His pain is intense most times and I think he will regret not doing so. I at least want him to consult with his doctor. Darn Desert Storm war. Funny thing is though if they would have let him re-enlist, he would have. Now he is listed as permanently 60% disabled. :sad2:
Back to the planning.....
Since we are not doing deluxe dining, I am going to go over all of the places that we really want to eat and then take a peek at the menus to see what choices would be best for us. We have until March to think about our ADR's. I'm one that has to make them at the earliest date that I possibly can. :rolleyes1
I keep hoping that my mom and sister will change their minds. So far they have not cancelled their ressie so that's a good sign. ;)
There are so many things that I just don't want to miss this trip. I've got my little spiral notebook out and am jotting things down so that I can eventually put together my itinerary book. DH laughs at it all the time, but I'm going to do it anyway.
I am also checking out designing some shirts for this trip. Last year we did just one and I think this year I am going to try and do a few more. Hopefully he will be a good sport and wear them. I am going to check out the Disign boards and see if I can actually do it myself or if I am going to need to go to one of the fabulous designers on this board for help. They are just awesome. I can get lost on that part of the DIS just looking at all the fab stuff out there!
We're tossing the tour back and forth again. I keep saying we are taking one, then changing my mind, then changing it again. I just don't know what to do but I am thinking about either one at the DAK or the Keys to the Kingdom Tour. Hopefully I will make up my mind soon. DH is a go with the flow guy so let's see how this turns out. I'm up for any ideas that anyone wants to share. So far we have taken the Backstage Magic Tour 2 or 3 times, the Family Magic Tour once and the Behind the Seeds Tour once as well.
We have not booked our airline tickets yet. Normally we book them quite far in advance. I am hoping that the prices will come down and if they don't we will most likely use miles or something since I have them from all of work trips.
Off to do :laundy: now and will pick up on the planning again tomorrow.

Glad that the holidays went well for you. I'm sure this was a tough one esp for your DH
I don't remember...did you do DxDPP before?? I can't imagine all the food you get with that:scared1: I LOVE to eat... but I thnk that the regular plan gives you plenty. If you decide on an extra bfst or 2 it will be a lot cheaper just paying OOP for them anyway.
Good luck with the diet... I decided that I'm trying something different this year... little month by month goals, so hopefully by 2010..I'll be healthier than I am today:thumbsup2 January's goal...not fast food. I eat WAY too much of it:lmao:
I'm looking forward to hearing you ADR plans... i'm starting to contemplate mine for July... eek!
BTW.. I have my own DISign thread... I'll be happy to help you come up with shirt ideas!!!

Hi Paula,
I like the month by month goals. That is an excellent idea. I need to get healthy and have to start now!
We were thinking about the deluxe plan because our friends are going at the same time (inkedupmomma) and they are going to do it. After the doctor's chat yesterday, I just think it's a good idea for us. We had a hard time using all of our credits last year on the regular plan.
I can't wait to check out your DISign thread! I am going there right after I finish this post!
Today I am going through menus on line to see how much my choices change from earlier when I started this PTR. Should be interesting!

So I have spent the better part of the last 2 hours reading menus and looking at dining options. :confused3 I'm tackling this in steps. Step 1: Figure out where we'd like to eat. Step 2: Decide what park to visit on which days and plug in dining options from there. It all sounds so easy, but it's not!. :lmao: I am trying really hard to try new experiences because it seems that we go back to the same places a lot.
Here are the narrowed down selections:
Breakfast
1900 Park Fare - never been here before
Kona - can't resist the Tonga Toast
Boma - it's juist too incredible to miss
Lunch
Fresh Med. Market at the Dolphin - never been before but it looks interesting
Beaches and Cream - sad to say, never been here either
Flame Tree - I really like it here
Columbia Harbour House - never been here either
Dinner
Biergarten - my husband just loves it here and I can't say no. :lovestruc
Mamma Melrose - want to get the Fantasmic package and don't want to use 2 credits for Brown Derby
The Wave - looks interesting
Maya Grille - we're staying at CS so why not?
T-Rex - gotta try the new place :rotfl:
Akershus - never been here for dinner
Yachtsman - want to go there for our anniversary but only if we can talk inkedupmomma into it
We will DEFINITELY take several trips over to the AKL so that we can get zebra domes from the Mara. Since we'll have a car we can go A LOT!! :thumbsup2
I am also looking at tours again. We are between two now: KTTK and Mickey's Magical Milestone Tour. Not sure which one we're going to try. We like to do at least one tour a year.
Next I will sit down and try and put together a rough outline of where we want to go when. DH wants to take breaks this year. We did not last September and he suffered big time. He's decided that he is not going to talk to the doctor about renewing his handicap parking pass. I am not sure that this is such a good idea, given the amount of pain that he has been in lately. :sad2:
So, let's see what the rest of the day brings with respect to my planning. We're snowed in here so I may as well................

Hi Paula,
Thanks for your comments. I didn't get much further over the weekend in my planning. I dug out my planning guides and books from 2008 though. I get them every year but they really don't seem to change much so I didn't get them for 2009.
I am having a hard time navigating the new Disney site. I finally gave up. I hate how it takes them months to post the schedule for things like parades, Fantasmic, etc. Makes planning difficult.
I plan to get a draft itinerary done this weekend.

Hi Sophia,
Have all caught up now - hope you are all OK
How's the diet going? Don't be too hard on yourself - if it's too strict it's really hard to stick to! Good luck with it!! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:
Have looked over your dining plans - they all seem good! Akershus is really nice, and we loved Columbia Harbour House - especially the tuna sandwich! 1900 Park faire is lovely, but we preferred the dinner, mainly because the Step Sisters were there and they were hysterical!
Have you thought about The Coral Reef? It was lovely looking at all the fish swimming by, and the food was good too!
I was reading another TR and it mentioned the Grand Floridian Cafe - the menu there looked really nice and it looked a lovely setting! We also fancy Beaches and Cream, DH wants us to get The Kitchen Sink!!!
Can't wait to hear the rest of your plans - I think they're slow with the park times now as they've cut the ADR window back to 90 days, so I think they've done the same with the park hours, they release them 90 before! :confused3

Hi Di,
Diet is going well...thanks for asking. :flower3:
We went to the Coral Reef two years ago for our anniversary and didn't have a positive experience. Joe is really funny about not wanting to give places a second chance  .
I am going to check out the Grand Floridian Cafe. Thanks for letting me know. I really want to try Beaches and Cream although the Kitchen Sink looks way over the top for me. :lmao:
I wonder when they are going to go back to 180 days in advance? :scratchin I read somewhere that this 90 day stuff was temporary. It's making it so darn hard to plan this way. :confused3
I am fretting a bit about not being able to see Fantasmic this time. I hope that it works out. ::yes::
This morning we were talking about extending our trip by a day. I suggested that we stay our last night at the Poly :beach: . Not sure that Joe will go for that one. We have not made our plane reservations yet and given the recent crash in the US, I was giving some thought to a train. Joe just laughs at me when I say that. :lmao: There is no way that we will :drive: because it's way too far. The problem with extending by one day is that it doesn't get us much. Meaning the flights back home are early. There are no flights after 12 noon so we don't really get an extra day. :snooty:
So as of right now, we're doing a lot of this :mic: and not much of anything else. :rotfl:
I'm still planning away..............

Yay, you're back! :cheer2:
I talked to Joe about extending out stay a day to celebrate John's birthday. We're looking at it since we don't have airline reservations yet. ::yes:: Not sure where we will spend the last night but I am thinking about the Poly .... if it's in the budget. There is only one issue I can see right now and that is with the airline schedule. The flights home are crap and the last non-stiop on the airline we fly is at noon. So, that doesn't give us any additional time that day. I am gonna check other airlines and maybe the real answer is to stay 2 extra nights! :hyper: I'm gonna need to do a lot of this :mic: to get Joe to agree though. That would be 10 nights and 7 days off of work. :scratchin If we do it that way, the last two nights probably won't be at the Poly though. So I guess the bottom line is that we are yapping about it.

You like that huh?!?!?! :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: Not sure how much luck I'm going to have getting two extra days out of him. :rotfl2: He tends to go batty after 8 nights and is ready to go home. I keep trying to get him to get a scooter. Sometimes I wonder if he realizes that he has a disability. He gets crabby with all the walking, etc. He is a disabled veteran, has a handicap parking pass, which he is telling me that he doesn't want to renew and has a hard time staying on his feet for a long perid of time. Duh, that's all you do when you are at Disney! ::yes:: SO if he'd just get a scooter he'd probably be a much happier camper. He keeps telling me that he doesn't want people to think he's "the fat guy" on the scooter. :confused3 I keep telling him who cares what they say and frankly if they persist, whip out the big ol scar! :lmao:
I am going to start looking to see what makes the most sense for us.

Today's agenda:
1. Go visit nice in the hospital. She's back there again.
2. Get home before the Steeler's game (yeah, I live in Brown's country and am married to a Steeler's fan). Game day around here can be "special."
3. Start pouring through menus to get some sort of idea on costs for oop meals to see if we need the dxdp or not!
4. Decide once and for all...tour or no tour.
So after some texting with my friend Jenn (inkedupmomma) last night I am back to the should we/shouldn't we with the dang dxdp. :scratchin Right when I think I know what we're gonna do, I change my mind again. I am starting to make my own self mad. ::yes:: Even though we don't know when we can make our adr's (are they going back to 180 days in advance or are we stuck with this 90 day stuff?) I still want to have some sort of base plan.
Since my nephew is not joining us we don't have any age restrctions on the tours so we are talking about taking one but don't know which one.
I feel like a broken record.....I keep going over the same stuff over and over again. I even got one of those planning software thingys (don't stone me people.....you guys are the experts). I figured I had to do something. Yeah, I hate it.......

So, ehem.....seems like we have a super bowl to watch here. pixiedust: Joe is SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would have to say - just go for the extra 2 days if you can afford it! It's only money - and "you cannae take it with you when you're gone" as my Granny used to say. Enjoy life while you can!
Staying at the Poly would be fab!
Hope you and all your family are doing OK and get healthy soon!
I was checking out some of the other threads - as far as i can make out the 90 day window is staying for the moment! Sometimes you can overplan and it drives you mad - I'm guilty of that too!
Sorry you had a bad experience at The Coral Reef, it was great for us! Have you thought of Raglan Road at DTD? We have that pencilled in for next year!

Di,
We talked last night about the current airfare price. If it does not come down some we will use our miles and get tickets that way. If we do that, we will have to add two nights to the trip so that we can use less total miles. ::yes:: Normally we save them for upgrades to first class but I didn't want to pay that much for the tickets so we will see.
I guess we are all stuck with the 90 day window. Wonder how much anxiety THAT will cause me over the next few months. :p
We did Raglan Road last trip. It was fun, but I wish we would have gone later in the day. It was practically empty when we were there. I think there were three tables filled. :confused3
I hope to be able to post my draft itinerary before I leave for work today. You'll have to let me know what you think!

Here is my draft itinerary, including dining decisions so far. There are still meals to add to this. Just need to make decisions first. I made some assumptions here so when the scedules come out for MNSSHP, Fantasmic, etc. I wil have to make changes. That drives me nuts but what can ya do? :confused3 For the last 3 years, MNSSHP has been on Friday so I am crossing my fingers.
Day 1
Early afternoon arrival
DTD
EPCOT for Illuminations
Day 2
Maya Grill - breakfast
Magic Kingdom
Columbia Harbour House - lunch
Day 3
BOMA for breakfast
DHS
Hopefully Fantasmic - get Fantasmic package at Mama Melrose or Hollywood and Vine
Day 4
Tusker Breakfast
DAK all day
Flame Tree for Lunch
TRex for Dinner
DTD
Day 5
EPCOT - WS
Akershus for Dinner
Day 6
Kona for Breakfast
Photo Session
Magic Kingdom
Flying Fish for Dinner
Back to MK for Spectro and Wishes (if they are scheduled)
Day 7
1900 Park Fare for breakfast
DHS during the day
MNSSHP if it's scheduled
Day 8
EPCOT
Beirgarten for lunch?
MK if there is anythng we missed
Day 9
All depends on flight time home
If we add extra days, we will either add one on each end or extend by 2 at the end.
Anyone have any suggestions/comments?
Thanks!

Itll have to be a pretty early bfst!!:) When I did the KTTK tour in Oct, there were 3 times to choose from... 8:30, 9:00, and 9:30... when you figure in the 15min early check iin time, and travel via monorail... you'll need to be done eating no later than 9am to make the 9:30 (I'd be too nervous to cut it that close LOL!!!)

I get a little mixed up with PTRs (I read too many LOL!!) Will you have a car??
even if you don't ... you could try for a 7:30 breakfast at Kona (take a cab..it was not bad about $10 including tip when I went to an early boma bfst) and figure the 9:00 tour. The tour groups are pretty good sized (20 or so) and the busier the park gets, the more sluggish the group feels getting thru...if that makes any sense:rotfl:
It seems like the really early bfsts will get you in and out much quicker than the 8-9am ones...at least thats been my luck so far:goodvibes

Hi Paula,
We always rent a car. It's much easier for Joe that way. I prefer the early morning ADR's. Get's me going in the morning!
I really enjoyed the Family Magic Tour when we took that. My nephew liked it too. Backstag Magic was really enjoyable as well. I think we took that one two times, maybe three.

I seem to have lost most of my readers but thanks to those that are still with me. :grouphug:
I came up with a few itinerary changes..................
Decided on going to TRex for dessert only. That was Jenn's idea and I think it's a good one. ::yes:: We really just want to see the place. It's not on the dining plan so it would be oop anyway.
We really want to go to the 50's Prime Time Cafe so we're working in a lunch.
Thinking about Chefs de France (can't remember the exact name) too.
Also doing the math this weekend to see if the dxdp will be better for us. I keep saying that I am going to do this and since it is snowing like mad again I may as well.
I checked airfare again and it seems to be up over $300 now. Still not sure if we should use miles or what. :confused3
Still talking about extending a day on either end too depending on if it makes a difference in air, etc. We really want to stay at least one extra day for sure.
I am bummed because I wanted to post scrapbook pictures to my last TR, but it won't let me. :confused3 No clue why, but I can only edit my posts on that thread. :scratchin

Your babies are too cute!! I have 3 myself, but they are a grey tabbies and look much like your grey one! Each kid has their own cat... and it's funny, cause the cats KNOW... each of them sleeps in their respective 'owners' bed at night:rotfl:

Thanks Paula. These guys just didn't like me spending the weekend scrapbooking. They drove me nuts jumping on everything and skidding across the table. All four of them decided to get me back! Two of mine are definitely "mine" and the other two are more "Joe's" although there are times when all four of them follow me around the house!

love the scrap booking pages, they look great, way better than mine ever have (probably why I gave up scrap booking, but it was also cause of my kiddos getting into everything) Now I do those photo books that you buy through companies, I know you can get one through the photo pass thingy, so I'm gonna probably do that whenever we manage our trip.

:scratchin
I'm still here!!! and yay for trex desserts!!
:offtopic: I was going to continue my last TR with scrapbook pages of the trip. I can no longer post to that thread so I thought I'd put them here. This is my attempt to keep that trip going in my mind.

Hi Di,
It has been a bit depressing around here lately. Seems that it just changed after Joe's mom died. Not sure how we can get it back to normal so to speak, or as normal as possible. :confused3 It seems like the ticker is moving, doesn't it? Hopefully by the time we get to make ADR's, I'll actually know what we're doing. :lmao:
Flights are coming down now but only through the first part of March. I can get to Orlando for under 200 dollars....lot of good that does me in September. :beach: This is the first year in a few that we are not making multiple trips but this economy is killing us over here.
Hopefully I will get out of this "funk" that I am in soon. The winter storm warning that just came across the news isn't helping!

Hi Sophia,
Things will get better, it's an old cliche that time is a great healer, but it is true. :flower3:
Things are pretty bad over here as well economy wise, for once I'm grateful me and DH are in the jobs we are, I work for the NHS and DH is in local government - no job is 100% secure, but we're about as secure as you can get! We've tightened our belts budget wise and are doing OK at the moment - fingers crossed things will start to get better soon! pixiedust:
Flight prices will probably come down nearer the time - they'll want to make sure they have bums on seats!

Hi Di,
I am hoping that things will get better soon.
The economy is terrible, isn't it? We both have jobs too so we are fortunate. I am hoping that things get better soon!
I keep checking airfare too. Seems that there is a sale now if we were to go by early March. Less that $200 round trip!

Not sure what happened. I thought that we only added some meals. I didn't change any days around. Hmmm, we'll figure it out. :goodvibes
I still wish that the rest of my family was going. 2010 is our 10th anniversary and they all want to go then so they figure that they will skip a year. We were going to renew our vows but it is incredibly expensive. We're still going to go but it may turn into a grand gathering instead. Joe and I said that if we were not going to renew our vows, maybe we can stay at the Poly instead. Still thinking about it.

I so want to go in December. We made the mistake of going the week between Christmas and New Year's and it was a disaster. We actually came home 3 days early because of the crowds. :sad2: I thought maybe the first week wouldn't be so bad though. I am wondering if maybe we can stay at a moderate instead of the Poly in September 2010 and be able to go back in December. :p Don't know if Joe would go for it, but it is worth a try!

I know what you mean. Joe and I were just talking about everythng to be done here at the house too. :sad2: The winter has been so harsh here that the door jams are swelling and it has become hard to lock the doors at night! Thank goodness that is improving though. I was worried that we'd need new doors for a minute there!

This morning I updated my TGM account for ADR dates. I still am not thrilled with this 90 day window stuff and I wish that we could make our own ADR's on line. :snooty:
I also compared our dining plan to inkedupmomma's to see what days we had the same plans with Jenn and her family. They are:
Breakfast at Boma on 9/14
Breakfast at Tusker on 9/15 (becoming one of our favorite places for breakfast)
Breakfast at Kona on 9/17 -- Yay for Tonga Toast
Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare on 9/18
We are also both doing the Fantasmic package at Mamma Melrose once we get the schedule and know when Fantasmic will be. We are hoping for 9/14 which is a Monday. I wish they would pubish the schedule already....everything can change once we get that!
I am hoping for MNSSHP on Friday that week. It has been on Friday of that week for the last three years that we have been going so I hope the luck continues.
It seems that last year I missed Spectro and so I need to be sure that I don't this year.
Here are a few other things that I missed that I am hoping not to miss this year. My DH is not a huge fan of parades so I have no clue how to pull some of this one off but..........
:headache: Missed Jammin Jungle last visit
:headache: Missed Spectro last visit
:headache: Missed Illuminations last visit
:headache: Missed the Dance Party at DHS last visit
:headache: Missed the Character Connection at EPCOT last visit
:headache: Missed all of Toon Town (I wanted to go see the characters)
:headache: Missed Snow White and her peeps last year at MNSSHP (we tried though...didn't we Jenn?)
:headache: Missed Camp Minnie Mickey
So, you get my drift here. I am trying to get all this stuff in which is also part of the reason I want to add a day or two. Right now the goal is to add two days at the end of our trip. Not sure if we can, but that is the goal.
Oh, and I have a new boss now. I sent her my vacation request the other day along with some other days and I didn't get this trip back approved yet which scares the crap out of me. I take this same time every year and pay as much as I can in advance so cross your fingers for me please. I want to ask again but that is our year end month so I'm sort of afraid to.......:sad2: :sad2: DH says we are going and that's it so I keep telling myself that.

I have a rough itinerary for the May trip with my brother (first time at Disney). What does everyone think:
Day of Arrival
Go directly to DHS for Star Wars weekend activities
Go to MK for Spectro at 9 and Wishes at 10
Check in hotel after Wishes if we didn't in between parks
Day 2
ADR at Kona for Breakfast
Spend the day at MK
Go back to DHS for Fantasmic (only night playing that we are there)
Get Fantasmic dinner package wherever available (too early to call now :headache:
Day 3
DTD in the morning
Epcot
ADR Biergarten for Dinner
Stay for Illuminations
Day 4
ADR at Tusker House for Breakfast
Spend day at DAK until it is time to leave for the airport
I know that 4 days is not a lot of time so I am trying to cram in what I can for him during our visit.
All comments and suggestions welcome. :flower3:

Ok, Also, on your anniversary day, we are now going to do Dak THEN dhs! Since the next day will be MNSSHP we figured doing a park that day after breakfast will just be too much. So this will probably be our late breakfast day at 1900, then maybe some dtd if i can convince John, then resort for swimming and drlaxing, then early adr at CRT!!! By late 1900 I mean 830ish lol! Wow, this is actually all coming together and I am feeling super excited and more organized than I have felt in a LONGGGGGG time!:cool1:

Ok, so I looked at this again.
Arrival - if we see Illuminations in May then I am game for DTD and TRex for sure! I just have not seen Illuminations in a few years. I can also go back and see when we are going to Epcot again and change it to then.
Days 2 and 3 are cool because we have time together
Day 4 - we will probably still go to DTD so I can do my "mega" shopping at World of Disney, etc. If we have already done dessert with you guys then we will drop this one. My friend went to Narcoossee's recently and said it was terrible and she won't go back. Since we have similar taste in food I'm too scared to try it. :guilty:
Day 5 - we can change to Akershus for breakfast with you guys and if you do Biergarten that day we can too. It's not a day that I don't mind changing. If we stay at Epcot all day, we can see Illuminations this day too and then on arrival day be with you guys.
Day 6 - our anniversary. So, since I am pre-paying for the Photopass CD and stuff, why don't you guys join us for our photo session? Tell me, just how many pictures can they take of just me and Joe in a 30 minute session? And if mom comes, there are still only three of us. If you are interested, I will make the reservation for all of us if they let me. I'm thinking Flying Fish for dinner.
Day 7 - we are open for either DHS or DAK this day. We thought DHS just for TSMM....Joe loves that ride. Not a big deal though because I love DAK too! And we have MNSSHP that night! :woohoo:
Day 8 - I'm up for moving breakfast to O'Hana's. I loved that place for breakfast! Not sure what we are doing for dinner that day for dinner but there are so many possibilities at EPCOT.
Day 9 - still not sure if we are leaving this day or extending. If we are extending, then the entire day is open to plan.
So,that's what I got so far..............

Oh yeah.. you get to go on a hold over trip.... must be nice:snooty: hahaha, just joking!! that trip will actually be a perfect chance for you guys to maybe do some stuff that your afraid of missing in September!

Really, cause all I ever read is good stuff about it :( I fgorget what we are doing earlier this day.. DAK right? We could do DTD as well, but I don't care for any off the menus, and we really wanted to try narcooses.. i'll have to so some more research!
Day 5 - we can change to Akershus for breakfast with you guys and if you do Biergarten that day we can too. It's not a day that I don't mind changing. If we stay at Epcot all day, we can see Illuminations this day too and then on arrival day be with you guys.
Cool! We would do din there, but we did not care for it at ALL! I can switch Biergarten to this day. Def stay for Illuminations!

Sweet nibblits! That would rockkkk! we could still do dak, and dhs after that! This is our no stress day [ha!]

not sure if we are going to do a park after breakfast this day. john wants to take it easy since we have mnsshp that night... plus i kinda wanna got to dtd.. although if we go the previous night then I may be able to scratch that... either way going back to the resort before mnsshp and swimming and relaxing is a must for john!
Day 8 - I'm up for moving breakfast to O'Hana's. I loved that place for breakfast! Not sure what we are doing for dinner that day for dinner but there are so many possibilities at EPCOT.scratch ohana. we are doing pepper market this day, then coral reef earkly lunch, then we can do le cellier for dinner this night:cool2:

Hi Sophia,
Your plans all sound like they're coming together, you seem to have a good selection. What about Citricos or Spoodles instead of Narcooses? Is the Californian Grill still open? It's hard when you get a bad review from someonme you trust, it throws everything up in the air. Hopefully you'll get it all sorted.
How many stops are you planning to make at AKL for the zebra domes? ;) :rotfl:
Your trip with your brother sounds good - you've made sure he's getting to see a bit of everything. :wizard:

You won't believe this one.........
I was making my ADR's for my May trip. Anything after May 25th has to be made in the new dining system. The person I talked to said that they wait t talk to someone is at LEAST ONE HOUR!!!!!! Apparently the system went down yesterday and no one could make ressies. So, I am sitting on hold so that I can make an ADR at Tusker on the 26th. :headache: I figure I may as well do it now and get it over with.
Here are the ADR's that I made:
Day of arrival - none
Day 2 - Early (and I mean early) ADR for breakfast at Kona. I want to show my bro the Poly. :lovestruc I love that place!
Brown Derby Fantasmic package. That is the ONLY place I could get with Fantasmic seating. I am freaking now about September because the person I talked to said that since Fantasmic is down to a few shows a week it is no longer easy to get these.
Day 3 - Biergarten for Dinner. I KNOW he will totally dig that place!
Day 4 - I am trying to make ADR's at Tusker for breakfast. I have a feeling this is going to be a nightmere..........
Jenn, if you are reading.........the exact date that we can call for September dining is June 15th. She suggested that we call right at 7 am and that we have our more "difficult" ressies ready to do first.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the wait time is incredible if you are making ADR's for 5/26 or later.
I just waited 2 hours, 15 minutes, and 14 seconds........:headache:

Hello! I'm here!
I don't want to make your ADR decisions any more difficult, but have you guys eaten at Sci-Fi Drive In? It is SO good; definitely one of our favs! We go during lunch hours because they have the best burgers known to man; haha. They don't have them on the dinner menu for some odd reason. :confused3
LOVE your tree!! I've wanted to do a Disney tree for so long, so DH and I drove around like crazies after Christmas and got some great Hallmark ornaments!! We literally got about $500.00 worth for well under $100.00; I'm so excited to start the tree this Christmas! I'm hoping to pick up some things at the store at DTD in September; and, I need to dig our really, really old school Disney ornaments out of my parent's attic. We had some when I was little, so I hope they're still in good shape!
LOVE your scrapbook pages, too. I love scrapbooking. I need to work on (and finish, haha) our honeymoon book before our September trip. Did you send off for the Jif/Smucker's book kit?? I did; I hope it comes!
And, that wait time for ADRs? D'oh!! Why do I have a feeling that I'm going to need to go in to work late the morning we can start ours! I'm worried about not getting what we want since we're going during free dining!
EDITED: I forgot to say this (my DH would be ashamed) he's a HUGE Steelers fan, too! He's actually from Pittsburgh!

Hi! Welcome!! :welcome:
We've done Sci-Fi a few times. Love the atmosphere in there. Burgers are good too! Good suggestion!
Thanks for the compliments on our tree and my scrapping. :flower3: It took me years and years to get enough ornaments to do a large tree. We started off with just a pencil tree in our dining room and once we had enough ornaments we went with the full sized tree. I go NUTS in the Christmas store at DTD. In fact, last year we had to find a UPS store and have it all shipped home. :lmao:
I did not send for the Jif/Smuckers kit but now I'm curious....I want to know what it is. Learn something new every day. :teacher: Have you posted any scrapbook pictures? If so, I'd love to see them. I'm still sort of new at this. Been doing it for around a year now.
I could not believe how freaking long I had to wait this morning. :headache: I'm freaking out about our September trip especially because of free dining. We're on it too but I think that we're going to do dxdp....Jenn (inkedupmomma) has talked me into it! Seriously though, she's right! I'm wondering just how long I will be on the phone on June 25th...the first day that we can call!
My DH is from Pittsburgh too. He lived in Jeannette as a child and then Crabtree later on. I've only met one person that actually knows where Crabtree is so far. :rolleyes1
Thanks for joining!!!

We'll have to do a mini tree this year, but I'll keep adding - especially after my DTD trip!!
Did you find the Jif/Smucker's promo? If you google Jif Disney Scrap Book, it should come up. You just have to buy 2 Jif products OR 2 Smucker's jelly products, fill out the form on their site, and send it in along with your receipt. They'll send you a new celebration's scrap book - no shipping and handling or anything! I hope it shows up!!

Last year an awesome designer from the DISign thread, Lisabelll, made us a stick figure family that I ironed on shirts for us to wear. She does awesome work.:worship: Check out her stuff on the DISign threads.:worship:
I decided to change our shirt from last year and make one for this year. Here is what I have so far. Granted, I stink compared to what Lisabelll does.
Jenn, I was thinking of asking her if she could put all of us on one! :cutie: What do you think?
Here is the one I edited from last year that has just me, Joe and mom.

Checked the airline and the tickets went from $350 to $178 so I booked. Didn't even tell DH first...just did it! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
So, we land at 9 a.m. and have the entire day on our first day instead of landing after 12 noon and then we leave one day later at noon so we have a few hours in the morning.
I am so happy............:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:
Now to plan day 9 and the morning of day 10!!!
I am on the line with Disney trying to extend our ressie at the same resort. I am hoping it is not going to be an experience like making our ADRs for May! Ok people, not looking good. Just got transferred again. Yikes. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: What is going on there these days???????

Yay, Joe wasn't mad about the extra day! :woohoo:
I changed our ressie and my mom's. Single occupancy is a killer. They really make you pay. Her total cost is more than mine and Joe's put together. Granted she has to by a 10 day hopper but still. It's ridiculous.

I totally love that you started your PTR almost a year before your trip. DH thought (thought? How about THINKS) I'm nuts for wanting to plan so far in advance.
Hi Beka,
I get the same thing from my DH. :rolleyes1 I drive him insane just about every day with Disney talk. :rotfl: He drives me to work in the morning and I a blabbing :mic: all the way there (30 minutes) at 6 a.m. about it and asking him where he wants to eat, etc. And I expect him to be listenng to me :listen: and all he does is a whole lot of this. ::yes:: If that isn't bad enough, I spend all weekend on the DIS. :thumbsup2
Glad you joined me over here!

Hi Amy,
Glad to have you. Yep, we are planning a Star Wars weekend visit with my brother. It will also hold me over for our September trip.
So, I keep watching your thread for those pictures! :wizard:

Hi Heather,
I was able to extend so we will be at CS for the entire 9 nights. We were going to do the Poly but packing and moving just sounds like work! I keep telling myself one day, one day, I will stay at the Poly. Maybe next year for our 10th wedding anniversary. :confused3

Hi Sophia.. subbing..
Followed you over from my PTR..
Love the tshirt design! Looks very cute.. The best I could come up with last year for our family trip was some tie dye ones.. we looked a hot mess :rotfl: but we did get some compliments.. You would have thought I was pulling the kids teeth getting them to wear them.. :lmao:
Cant wait to hear more of your plans..
'K, I'm all caught up on your PTR. How's your dad doing? I'm guessing he got a diagnosis.

I saw yesterday that the DISigner that does the stick figures isn't designing them any more but someone else is personalizing them. There is also a link for us to go out and make our own, which I did and will post today. I'm so happy that they are sharing. What awesome DISigners they are! And so nice of them to share their work with us!

Hi Beka,
Yes, he did. It's cancer. :sad2: He has to have some sort of shots first. There is one that lasts a month and then he goes for one that lasts 3 months. After that there are 40 rounds of radiation. The doctors do not want to do surgery. :sad2: I have to drag details out of him and he won't come back here to go to our doctors. I am fortunate to live near one of the leading hospitals in the world but he won't do it. I told him if royalty from around the world come here, why can't he? Stubborn.
Thank you for asking about him.

If you don't mind my asking, what kind of cancer is it? Both of my parents have had (and survived) cancer, and my great-uncle is currently battling lung cancer that has spread, so if you *ever* need to talk, I'm here!

Here are the shirts that I worked on over the weekend thanks to the wonderful DISigners here on the DIS that are sharing their work. They are so talented. You should go to the DISign thread and check them out.
I have not decided which ones to actually make yet so help me out and let me know which ones you like. There are still a lot more that I want to try and do but let's face it, I am not an artist so I'm sort of limited to what I can make.

Di,

Hi Dena,
:welcome: :welcome:
Thanks for joining me! Don't stress about the ADR's. I do that all the time and it turns out fine...usually. You may want to have second choices available just in case though. Also, make sure that you know the exact date that you can call and if possible, call first thing that morning. I've miscounted and found myself a day late once or twice. :headache: I was really surprised that I had the experience with my May ADR's though. :scared1: I will cross my fingers for both of us!
Thanks for the compliments on my scrapbook pages. Still new at this and I just go with whatever strikes me. I find it relaxing sometimes.

Thanks. Same thing happens to me. I drag it all out, do a few pages and then it takes me a few months to get in the mood again. Once I finish this Disney trip I am going to tackle other things like our wedding...8 1/2 years ago! Seems like I gravitate to the Disney scrapping first. Imagine that!

I was talking to my mom yesterday and she is really excited. Today she is paying off her trip. :woohoo: Yay for mom! Of course, she wants me to call it in for her. :rolleyes1 Our plan is to pay off our trip next month, maybe sooner. :yay:
We are going to visit Inkedupmomma (Jenn) and her family for her son Jack's birthday in April. :yay: I was asking DH about it and didn't get an answer for around 30 seconds. :headache: All I could think of was that he was going to say that it was too far of a drive or something. He has been having back issues lately and I was thinking maybe he couldn't be in the car that long. Then he said yeah, let's do it. :yay: :yay: :yay: :dance3: So I cancelled my birthday trip in early April to Canada and we are going to see Jenn in late April instead! :woohoo:
My binder is all done and put together for our Sept trip. As I make adjustments I update and print the pages and then insert them into the binder. I am going to get my 2009 PassPorter this weekend. I had one in 08 and found it helpful. I am already starting my packing list which is probably insane but since the stupid park hours are not out yet, I have to do SOMETHING to pass the time. :dance3:
We are trying to put together a meet on either the evening of 9/12 or the morning of 9/13. If anyone else is going to be there then and wants to join us, chime in!!
Well, late for work...............gotta go now.
What do you put in your binder?

What do you put in your binder?
It may sound like this thing is huge, but actually, it's not. It's a one inch ring binder. I have tabs and pocket folders. One tab is for the "itinerary" that I type out in Waltograph font that is a summary of everything...air, car rental, resort, etc. I have a tab for air which holds my confirmation and eventually the boarding passes, the next is for car rental and I print out the confirmation and put it there, the next is for the resort. I have a pocket insert there that holds the information that I get in the mail from Disney. I punch all my reciepts and put them there too. Next I have a tab for AP's and there is a pocket for our AP's so that they don't get lost. Next is a tab for the dining plan. I printed the Dining Plan information including what restaurants participate, etc. from Disney's site and put it there. I use this mostly for counter service places so we are not running like fools trying to figure out what we can get, etc. Lots of times we look at it on the plane, etc. or just to pass the time. I also have a tab that I call Day by Day which has the itinerary for the day and then lines for notes so a the end of the day I can journal and have notes for my TR. I also have a miscellaneous tab to hold other stuff. DH laughs because I have this crazy thing yet I buy the Passporter too. The cover of my binder this year is the tshirt that I made that says "just us and gramma this time." I throw it in my carry on bag and then I have it with me the entire trip.
I also make this little itinerary cards that I laminate and then put onto a ring. I attach the ring onto my backpack so I have everything with me at all times. DH laughs about them but let me tell you, they saved my butt last year when I could not remember specific ADR times, etc. I showed them to Jenn and she seemed to like them last year. Once I get those done (probably right before we leave) I will post them here. You can see them in my scrapbook pages too in earlier posts. I decided to scrap them after the trip. :rolleyes1

Sounds great! I've been adding tips & tricks to mine, a suggested packing list, general descriptions of what each restaurant serves, etc. I thought about ringed, laminated cards too, but maybe putting some trivia on them as well. I *love* the scrap pages, I did about 4 pages of my dogs, & will eventually do them for Conner & our trips. I'm slowly amassing a collection of stuff, & I need to designate a workspace. I hate clean-up, so if I have an organized, dedicated area, then I won't have to pack everything back up & put it away!

I am a bit behind the times but I just found the 2009 dates for MNSSHP! Yay, the party is the day that we want to go. Friday, Sept 18th! :woohoo: :woohoo:
Mom decided that she does not want me to get her ticket in advance this year. :sad2: Last year she lasted all of an hour before my sister had to take her back to the resort. The dorks got lost and my sister ended up missing the entire party too. $100 bucks down the tubes!!! My mom has bad asthma and sciatica (or however you spell that). A month before our trip she was in the hospital with a horrible episode of sciatica. When they checked into CBR they were originally on the second floor. She told them about her hosptialization and they got moved to the first floor which I thought was awesome. This year she decided that she is going to wait until last minute to decide if she is going or not.
I'm thinking that I must not be paying attention to things because today I also learned about advance resort check in. Where the heck have I been??? :confused3 :rolleyes1 :confused3 I'm debating if I want to do that or not since we really need have adjoining rooms. I don't want my mom far away and by herself. Not cool. They say that when you do the advance check in you can make your "requests" at that time. My fear is that we will do that and the rooms won't be near each other. Then what? Maybe I should just do it the old fashion way?
What do you think????? I need help here people so any lurkers out there...please chime in!!!!!!!!!!

I want to read more about advanced check in before I decide what to do. It seems almost too good to be true.
Wonder if there will be AP discounts the day we want to go to MNSSHP? Last couple of years there have not been but anything we can do to save a few $ is good.
We have a small house so I have all of my stuff in a closet in our office. I do have to drag it out and put it back which I hate!
Our house isn't super-huge, but we have a room where the computer is in that did house the "dog couch", but we figured the dogs needed their own piece of furniture less than I need a craft table. Sorry pooch!
Sorry about your mom's sciatica, I know it hurts so much! Could she do it if she had a wheel chair?

I have a table in our office too that I use for scrapbooking. I just have to take it up and down which is why I use the closet for storage. :rolleyes1 I wish I could just keep it up but trust me, it's a mess in there when I get on a roll. :rotfl:
My mom is just as subborn as my husband. She won't do a chair and said that she's run someone over if she had a scooter. :lmao: She's a trooper though. Sometimes the heat gets to her and it's her asthma that makes her have to stop and go back to her room.

I guess the codes just came out yesterday or so which means neither one of us are that far behind. :lmao: My mom has not had issues for a while now (knocking on wood) so hopefully all will be a-ok!
Let me know if you read anything interesting about advance check in. I am going to scope it out this weekend. Wonder if they even started it yet? :rotfl2: Yeah, I need to get to my planning.
I will definitely let you know if I hear anything.. I may be interested in this too..
I cant believe its now less than 6 months.. :scared1: Yikes.. all the planning left to do.. :rotfl:

Hi! Glad to see you here!! :wave2: Hopefully we can finalize our meet with Jenn and Heather. :goodvibes Not like we don't have time or anything, right? I am checking into CSR on the 12th. Jenn is checking into Pop on the 11th and then moving to CSR on the 12th. I think Heather is checking out on the 12th, right?

I got my Passporter the other day so I have been pouring through it. It's strange because I have been to WDW enough now that I should know all this stuff yet I pour through books and the DIS like it's my first trip! :lmao:
I've wanted to do window decorations for the last few years but we have not stayed at an outdoor access resort in a while and therefore.....no window to decorate. :sad1: Since we're staying at CSR this time, we get a window. :woohoo: DH thinks I am insane for wanting to do this though and my fear is that when it comes down to it, he won't be happy about it. Today I think I am going to see what I can come up with for window decorations. I was out looking at window clings yesterday and didn't find anything that I liked at all so I think I am going to try and see if I can make something. I am going to give it a try. I'm hoping that I can come up with something fun! Knowing me I will figure out something and then forget to pack tape!
So far, I have lost just 9 pounds on my diet. :sad2: I was hoping by now I would have lost more since it's been 3 months. :sad1: I guess I will keep trying. :upsidedow
I have started my general packing list too. I say general because as I get closer I actually include specific items of clothing...like "white capris" or whatever. I cant' do that though because of this diet and I have no i dea what will fit and what won't. :confused3 This drives me crazy and I think it's because of my OCD behavior. I have to have everything together ahead of time.....way ahead of time. My mom has her stuff all ready and in a special drawer at home so all she has to do is transfer it to her luggage. So, guess where I get this from?
I'm going to post my general packing list today so I can get comments from everyone on what I missed!

we did window decorations on our last family trip last year.. that was the first time Ive ever done that.. I went to Babies R Us and got some Disney wall sticker like things.. It was $12 for the package and I had enough to decorate both windows as we had connecting rooms.. I got the ones with Mickey, Minnie, Daisy, Donald, Goofy and Pluto.. I know they also had Princess ones.. Then in my scrapbooking stuff I had a huge Mickey shaped hole puncher.. I punched out one for each of us and had one for each member of our party.. I wrote our names on them in fine point black sharpy.. then I got this sticky tape stuff and stuck them in between the characters.. when I get home I'll post a picture just for you to see.. I have it saved on my home computer..
Cant wait to see your packing list as Im sure it'll spark ideas for me and I can add them to my list..
Good luck planning..

I got mine this week too! Unlike you, I *don't* know much about WDW anymore (except for what I've learned on the Dis) but there's a lot to be said for learning something by doing it yourself!
I think I am going to try and see if I can make something. I am going to give it a try. I'm hoping that I can come up with something fun! Knowing me I will figure out something and then forget to pack tape!
Maybe hit up the scrapbook section, or if you have a store dedicated just to scrapbooking, they'll have some Disney die-cut stuff there. I'm jealous! That sounds like fun! But we're off-site, so it wouldn't make as much sense, but Mom is digging up my (very) old Mickey for Conner!
So far, I have lost just 9 pounds on my diet. :sad2: I was hoping by now I would have lost more since it's been 3 months. :sad1: I guess I will keep trying.
Think of it this way: you didn't gain all that weight in a week, so why would you be able to lose a ton in a short amount of time? It's not easy, but so worth it! Keep up the good work! Change up your workout routine, and if you've been eating the same things over & over, then change that up too. For example: if doing a low-carb diet, have a day where you eat more carbs. It's surprises your body, cuz they do get complacent, and adapt rather quickly. Stupid bodies knowing what they should be doing...

OMG, I went to Kohl's last night & got some clothes for this summer (& the trip - I'll share those later on my PTR) & my mom thought I was nuts! "It's months away, Rebeka". Sheesh mom, I know! But in August, they sell sweatpants, and I might be nuts, but I'm NOT wearing sweatpants in Florida in August! So I can completely understand. I always re-do my teachrs' syllabuses (syllabi?) since they're 90+ pages, and insane to read, plus I save EVERYTHING. MY classmates think I'm insane, but ya know what? I've saved their butts & mine more than once doing that, so the proof is in the OCD pudding!

Ooohhhh, now I want to go to Babies R Us...like right NOW!!!!!!!!!! OMG I can just see Joe's face.
I think I can cut out giant Mickey heads with my Cricut. I am going to have to go and look now. I only have the small mouse ear punch in my scrapbooking stuff. Joe about died last year when I put my lime green Mickey head on my backpack. I made two of them...one for me and one for Jenn (inkedupmomma). We got a laminator and I laminated two of them that said "do you DIS?" He about lost it :scared:. What was really super funny though was that every time he spotted a LGMH, he got all excited and told me about it!
I'm digging out last year's packing list as a starting point. I forgot we changed the clocks here last night and lost an hour so I feel like I am behind in my day already!

It's so strange.....every time we go it is a different experience and we try different things, which is why I always get the Passporter and sometimes a zillion other books too. Joe laughs and says stuff like "babe, doubt they changed the location of PotC or anything." He doesn't understand why I insist on buying these books every year. :rotfl2:

It's something that I have wanted to do but we have not had a window until our September trip. Actually, we will have one in May when we stay at Pop but between my brother and Joe, they will have hissy fits if I even attempt to decorate a window!

Good advice. Thanks! I was using the Wii Fit and then about a month ago I developed awful shoulder and back pain. Been to the doctor three times for it and he told me no repetitive motion for a while. Lazy me stopped any form of exercizing and I know I should not have done that.

I love Kohl's! I really want to buy stuff now because you are right, buy the time it is time for my trip they will be selling sweatpants and winter jackets. Since I save everything as evidenced by our 10x10 storage locker filled with partylite, clothes and the rest of my "junk" as Joe calls it (well, that' the nicer term), I know that I have some summer stuff in various sizes! That's a start I guess. :rotfl:
Those look like so much fun! Do you love it? One year, it WILL be on my Christmas list!
Joe got it for me when I started scrapbooking. Trouble is, I have no clue how to do anything except basic stuff with it. :confused3 I am not using it to its fullest potential. :rolleyes1 I am mad though because Michael's had a special last year where if you bought three cartrdiges you got the computer software free. Mine never came. I got sick of dealing with them so I just let it go which makes me even more mad. The good thing is that I think I used it so much for letters that it probably paid for iteself already! Those dang letters can be so expensive!

I love your scrapbook pages! I need to start working on mine (and finish it, hopefully) before our next trip!
Yes, I'm checked out on the 12th. I've put CM as our breakfast that morning, so timing is completely up to you all. We are driving, so we don't have to rush to catch a plan. We're actually planning on just driving to Tallahassee that day so I can try to meet the admissions director for University of Florida's law school.
How fun for your trip in April! Post lots of pics!!

Ah, I meant your trip to visit Jenn!
It'll take us a day and a half with stops and such; not too bad. We normally stay over-night somewhere. Once we hit Tallahassee, it's about an 11 hour drive.
Keep me updated if you think you'll be able to do CM that day. Once it rolls around to making ADRs, I'll check back in with everyone for sure!

First of all, congrats on 9 lbs! You may think you should've lost more, but still - you weigh 9 lbs less than you did 3 months ago!! I'd take that any day!!
Second of all, your packing list looks good. Reminded me of some things I need to add to my own. But I do have a question - why do you bring cards for CM's? I've never really thought about that before!

Thanks for the congrats! :goodvibes I just feel like I should be further along here.
I made business sized thank you cards for the CM's. You know, they are always (or most of the time) so nice. They go out of their way to help. They have costumes that they sweat like mad in (can you imagine some of the costumes that those ride CM's have to wear when it is 100 outside??). I have seen so many CM's sit and have to take it from a screaming guest about something that is so out of their control. Last year I made these cards and laminated them. Whenever I left a tip or when a CM went out of their way, I thanked them. You wouldn't believe how they responded. It was just a little card but they smiled or said that no one ever thanks them, etc. I guess it just made me feel good. I can't remember if I took any pictures of them but if I can find some, I will post them here so that you can see them.

I just realized something. I have no clue what's wrong with me here but I don't get in on the 12th until 9:09 a.m. :sad1: We got better flights if we got there on the 12th and left on the 21st. We have gone nearly every Sept since 2000 and the hours are relatively the same each year. I saved them all and looked (are you surprised?) The one that concerns me is the Fantasmic schedule. I may need to make an adjustment there and switch a day. Other than that, in looking back, especially over the last three years, Spectro and Wishes have been pretty consistent that week. So, I get as detailed as I can and then make changes once the schedules come out officially. ;)

We are also trying Park Fare for the first time this trip. Love 50's too. I usually get the meatloaf but this year I am telling myself that I MUST try something different!

Hellooo OhioDisneyLover! I've clawed my way up out of the abyss and into your pre trip report :lmao: . I haven't read all of it yet but I just wanted to pop in & offer a suggestion for your anniversary dinner:
Sept 17th :bride:

I don't know what you have in mind as far as atmosphere but how about Flying Fish? The reviews on the DIS have been consistently excellent and the food sounds fantastic. I've never been there & it's doubtful that we'll make it there this time but Flying Fish and BlueZoo are at the top of my list of places to try & you've already been to BlueZoo.
10 years! I think that's the seafood anniversary, isn't it ;) ?
Mind you, we're planning to have our anniversary dinner on the dock at Abbotts Lobster in the Rough so I don't know if my idea will have much merit :rotfl: .
Anyway, off to read more of your PTR.

I'll save ODL the trouble (and the torture of going through the DIS recipe pages while trying to diet :) ). Here's the list of ingredients from the Zebra Dome recipe as posted in the DIS recipe forum:
Zebra Domes - Bomas
Ingredients:
1 pound milk chocolate
¼ cup espresso coffee
5 egg yolks
¼ cup + 1 tablespoon sugar
6 sheets gelatin
½ cup Kahlua Liqueur
4 cups heavy cream
¾ cup white chocolate ganache
¼ cup dark chocolate ganache
sponge cake (store-bought or your favorite recipe)

Just so you know, though, Boma doesn't use Kahlua but something called Amarula (Amarulu?) which is a South African liquer made from the amarula fruit. It tastes kind of like Bailey's Irish cream with a hint of citrus & can be purchased in the AKL's gift shop but I was able to find it at a couple of liquor stores back home. The stuff is soooo goood and nothing like Kahlua.
I haven't tried making my own Zebra Domes yet but I plan to do so for Easter ('cause they're egg shaped :) ). They're a sponge cake base, topped with mousse & covered with white chocolate (with the dark chocolate for stripes). Like a sinful, stripey truffle :rotfl: .

Hi Sophia,
Congrats on the 9lbs! it's always better to lose it slowly - it tends to stay off that way!
The plans are all coming together - I can't believe you're thinking of packing already, where has the time gone? :confused3

:thumbsup2 Your plans look great so far. It's nice that you will be able to spend so much time with Jenn and her family! Could you describe the Zebra Domes? I have seen pictures but never a description of what they are made of. BTW, congrats on the 9 pound weight loss! I know exactly what you mean about shopping. I am also trying to loose some weight and I am so ready to shop for summer clothes but don't want to buy the wrong size!
I see that someone beat me to the recipe for zebra domes! That's awesome! I love them. Not sure if it is the texture or what but I swear I'd eat a dozen if I could!
Thanks for the congrats. I hope I can drop a few more before my trip. I hope that I can eventually reach my 50 pound goal but I know that this will take me some time!
Hellooo OhioDisneyLover! I've clawed my way up out of the abyss and into your pre trip report :lmao: . I haven't read all of it yet but I just wanted to pop in & offer a suggestion for your anniversary dinner:
Hi there and welcome!
Funny you said Flying Fish because that is where DH wants to go! We did go to Bluezoo two years ago. I loved it. DH just informed me that it wasn't one of his favorites. I'd go back there in a minute! I LOVED IT!!!!!
So glad you joined my PTR! Have fun planning your anniversary dinner. :)

Hi Di. It feels like it takes forever to drop these pounds. Took me 11 years to gain them (yes, since I met Joe...) so I guess I have to be patient, right?
Yes, I am thinking of my packing list already. :rolleyes1 Funny, isn't it??
I will definitely remember the gorillapod!!!

I'll save ODL the trouble (and the torture of going through the DIS recipe pages while trying to diet :) ). Here's the list of ingredients from the Zebra Dome recipe as posted in the DIS recipe forum:
Zebra Domes - Bomas
Ingredients:
1 pound milk chocolate
¼ cup espresso coffee
5 egg yolks
¼ cup + 1 tablespoon sugar
6 sheets gelatin
½ cup Kahlua Liqueur
4 cups heavy cream
¾ cup white chocolate ganache
¼ cup dark chocolate ganache
sponge cake (store-bought or your favorite recipe)
----------------------------------------------------------------
Just so you know, though, Boma doesn't use Kahlua but something called Amarula (Amarulu?) which is a South African liquer made from the amarula fruit. So far I had to change my original plans just one year. My "predictions" have been pretty good...knock on wood. I'm just really worried about Fantasmic this year!

You and I are about the same vintage (I'm 43) so I feel your pain. One thing that I did that helped a lot was to start going for long walks well before our trip in order to build up my WDW walking tolerance. In what free time, I know, but maybe that can work for you? Once those pounds start to come off it helps to inspire you to keep going (I remember dimly...I need to start walking again).

BlueZoo looks SO awesome but I don't think that it would work with a 5YO in tow  . Maybe I can persuade my crew to stop by for happy hour? But Flying Fish sounds divine. Maybe a bit loud but you can get a table that has a view right into the kitchen.

I had to laugh about this. My husband & I have been married for 15 years and he complains about how the waist size on his jeans have increased by an inch. ONE INCH! I've increased by an entire person  .
Like I said, I feel your pain :) .

I'm on cold meds, so maybe I missed it on your list, but what about Le Cellier for your anni dinner? We haven't tried it yet, but I've only heard wonderful things about it! And hey, if we go on Saturday night and it's bad, I can tell you on Sunday morning to cancel and pick somewhere else! But, I doubt that'll happen and I'll just tell you how wonderful it was, instead!
9:30am-10:00am works great! That'd give us time to take care of checking out if need be and head over there. Has anyone made ressies for a large party even if you've only got 4 on your hotel ressie? I don't think they should give me a hassle about it, hopefully not!
Oh oh oh!! Can you give me an idea about park hours from your past experience? I have, literally, 6 spreadsheets laid out for possible ADRs depending on park hours. I would love to hear your past experience to guide me a bit!!!

I absolutely NEED to start walking again. We have a treadmill that has been in the up position WAY TOO LONG!
I'm going to go back over the menus again. It may be that we do Flying Fish. :confused3 Too many choices!
My DH doesn't even notice the weight gain, or so he says. I think he's just full of it! He is actually smaller than when we first met!

For some reason I also noted that Wishes was at 8 and Spectro at 9 on Thursday and Saturday. Not sure about the other days of the week.
So again, these are just the hours that I had in my notes for the last two years. The only consistency that I noted was that MNSSHP is also on Tuesday and Friday of the week that we are going. Who knows that the actual park hours will be. I think that the EMH's are listed somewhere on the DIS and I recall seeing them in one of my planning books stating that they pretty much stay the same but who knows. :confused3
For me, a guess was better than nothing so I figured I would plan based on this and then I can switch stuff around if I have to.

The hours do seem to go the same pattern Ive noticed too just from years past.. the one thing I noticed last year I think it was with the EMH was that on the Friday before Labor Day Epcot had the evening EMH but I think this past year when we went they didnt.. it was a different park.. so I guess every now and then they like to change things up.. at least thats what I remember

I have a folder or a binder with info from each trip I have taken. I think I also have park maps and time tables for all of them from the year 2000 and on.
The EMH's do change but I really thought that I read in the unofficial guide or something that they are sort of standardized now. I don't know...maybe wishful thinking on my part!

OK what is in your binder? I hear quite a few people mention that they have a Disney binder, but I never really asked what went into it.
Also, my color coordinated spreadsheet helps me figure out the smallest # of clothing items that I need to bring in order to have a different outfit each day. So I made the columns with different tops, bottoms, dresses, shoes, purses, and jewelry/accessories. Then when I decide, it all goes into the other sheet in a list of what I'll wear on each day. I may change my mind but at least the outfits are laid out in stone and I don't have to sit there thinking "I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!!" in the AM! Then of course the other sheet is includes standard hair products, makeup, flat iron/curlers, etc. Basically I started doing this because I would forget something if I didn't spell it out like that! I know, I'm nuts!

Your spreadsheet sounds interesting. I am going to give it a whirl and see if I can create one. ;)
I copied my binder contents from an earlier post:
OK I just went back to read your TR and loved the AKL pics! I also almost died laughing at the picture of Matt with his Travis Hafner t-shirt on standing in front of the troll in Norway. Look closely b/c the troll seriously looks like Hafner himself!

Thats a very pretty ring! Id say your DH did good :goodvibes
Thanks. I just go nuts when either of us spends money on a non-Disney activity. :)
Happy early birthday..
OMG!!!!! You're so organised!!!!!!! I live in a constant state of..........well it's not a midden, but it's definately not tidy. :rolleyes1 My mum twitches whenever she comes round (I swear she has OCD), she's already talking about coming round to do housework for me when she retires!!! :headache: :headache: :guilty:
Your ring is lovely! Good for Joe!  Have a Very Happy Birthday when it comes!
Di x
Hi Di,
I try and be organized as best that I can. I think it comes from my mom being that way and from having a small home. If I'm not organized, I'm in trouble.
Thanks for the birthday wishes!

I can't seem to concentrate today. :sad1: I have picked up my Passporter 10 times to see if I can't finally decided on a place for our anniversary dinner. So far, no luck and it is driving me nuts. :scared:
Sometimes I wonder if I should just go with my instinct and with what we like or try something new? Should I pay attention to what I read or just go with what we think we will like? Do I listen to someone that has been where I want to go or ignore them if they had a bad experience? :confused3 My frustration level is incredible and right now I am glad that I have another three months before I can make ADR's because I am all over the place with my selections.:confused3
I did manage to work on our CM thank you cards and the Mousekeeping envelopes today. Did not get them all done but I did get a good head start.:flower3:
I never got around to getting my iron on transfers for dark t-shirts yet. :sad2: I have a slew of them left for white shirts from last year. I am trying to finalize what shirts I want to make so that I can get that done too. Yeah, I am obsessed with planning ahead.:rolleyes1
I also need to get in gear and talk to my brother so that he knows what the plans are for our May trip. I keep forgetting about that. :upsidedow Not sure how, but I do. That trip is over Memorial Weekend plus one day. I need to figure out when he is arriving, etc. I told him that if he isn't close to our arrival time that I'm putting him on ME. :lmao: I have that itinerary already set up and ADR's are made so I think we're all set there.
I'm still looking for dining suggestions for our anniversary dinner so keep them coming.............

Try not to stress. Go with what you think you both will like. If it doesn't turn out to be nirvana it's not the end of the world, you'll both be experiencing it together & that's what's really important :goodvibes .
Our mantra for motorcycling is "the delays are part of the journey" meaning that no matter how meticulously you plan a ride out, sometimes things will happen that you just didn't plan for. Those things just become a part of the whole experience. While I am sure that no matter where you end up having your anniversary dinner will be wonderful it will be the perfect place just by virtue of you both being there, together ;) .
Now, about that ring! Hubba, it's gorgeous...and how sweet that your DH couldn't wait the three weeks to give it to you.
Meanwhile, our 15 year anniversary is Wednesday & my better half is getting me a new pair of skates so that I can try out for roller derby :lmao: .

I think you're right. I just need to decide on a place and go with it. Right now I think it will be Spoodles. :upsidedow
DH is not good at holding on to surprises. He tends to let loose. He's the one wanting to open Christmas presents 5 days before Christmas. However, he is great when it comes to our anniversary. Surprises galore while we are at WDW. :lovestruc
OMG, I don't think I could stand on skates at this point in my life! I'd win the grand prize on America's Funniest Home Videos for sure! Have fun with them! I envy anyone that can do stuff like that!

Thanks. I like it too.:)
It was easy to do the iron ons that I did last year but they were white shirts. I'm going to try dark ones this time. Once I get them done, I will post pics. There are instructions on the transfer box that tell you how to do them and I just followed that.

Hi Dawn :wave2:
:welcome:
Yay :yay: a new reader!!!
Scrapbooking relaxes me so when I am super stressed I tend to spend the day (as long as it is a weekend) scrapbooking. I've only done it for about a year now and hope to get better with more experience. :)
So when are you going in September exactly? We're putting a DIS meet together so let me know if you are interested!
Thanks for joining!

Hi Sophia,
I agree with Nina - go with your gut, as long as you're together and the food is edible......it's all good!
You'll get good & bad reviews of every restaurant as everyone has different likes/dislikes, just go with what feels right for you. :wizard:
As for Nina - you go with the roller derby!!!!!! :woohoo: It'll be great fun! My fav programme at the moment is Dancing on Ice (like Strictly Come Dancing - I think you call it Dancing with the Stars) but on ice. It's great - that's my dream - to be taught ice skating by Torvill & Dean and get to do all the fancy moves!

I agree to go with your own gut feeling on the dining choice.. Its so hard to say because what one person thinks is good, another might not..
I think there are tons of wonderful places to dine at Disney and Im sure you will be happy with whichever place you choose..
Hope you're having a great weekend.. Your trip will be here before you know it..

Thanks! I'm now wondering when Cat Cora's place is going to open. I'm really looking forward to trying her place. I'm Greek and love the food so it looks fabulous from what I have read. It's replacing Spoodles which is where we ended up decided upon for dinner so we'll see.

Not much exciting news to report this time but I feel like talking to myself or anyone that is still reading along with me. DH is sick of hearing it already. :scared1:
So, Photobucket is my nightmere right now. It seems that I can no longer access my account. I log in and it times out. I am working with their support techs to see what the issue is because I can see everything fine from my work computer. :confused3 When I go to my PTR or any of my ther TR's, I see giant white spaces where pictures should be. I don't get the photobucket thingy that says that the picture is no longer available, blah blah blah...just a giant blank space and it is making me NUTS. I worrry about not being able to post any more pictures here or on my future TR's which is making me mad. I hope that they can figure it out but for now they are saying that they cannot replicate the issue. I just asked if there are issues reported with any Windows updates...maybe that's it.... :confused3
I did get my customized maps yesterday! YAY!:banana: I was doing the dance but DH could care less. Says we don't need maps. :confused3
Friends just returned from a 4 day trip with no planning done before they left. :scared1: I thought for sure they were going to come home and hate it. Thank goodness for Facebook....I kept sending messages with suggestions and tips! Turned out they LOVED it and now my friend may surprise his wife and take her back over Memorial Weekend.
Question for any AP reader out there. I can't remember....can you book more than one room off the AP discount and does the AP holder have to stay in the room? I am thinking if not, I can see if there are any more deals at POP like the one I was able to get in case he decides to go for it. :)
This weekend for sure I want to get my t-shrits at least started. Mom, DH and I went to WalMart and got all of the iron on transfers. They are the only place around here that even has the darn things. I also got a ton of t-shirts...well, maybe not a ton but 9 white ones and 3 black ones. Not sure how to make the black ones because I have to invert the page and stuff and that is so over my head. :sad2: Gonna try though and when I get ours done if my friend Jenn tells me what she wants (hint, hint) I will make hers too....and gee, maybe I can deliver them when I go and visit her next month. ;)
Oh, I got a Mickey statue for my garden. Interesting thing...I saw it on line for around 25 bucks. I got it for $6.99 at a local discount store. :woohoo: I was hoping that they had more than one kind so that I could get a few for my garden this year. Very cute. I'd post a picture but you know that story already. :sad1:
I was talking to DH again about ADR's. Special conversation...to say the least! I asked him about our anniversary again because I keep obsessing about it and his response was.......how the he** do I know what I will be hungry for on September 17th at around 6 p.m.? :lmao: Apparently I am making him nuts with all of this obsessing.
Any one come up with any more ideas for an anniversary gift for DH? I am thinking another stein from the Germany pavillion and if I can do it....an Illuminations cruse for all of us. I really, really want to do that...big time! My mom wants to take a tour but I'd rather do a cruise this year if we can afford to. Mom's getting me Disney dollars for my birthday so who knows,,,,,,
That's it for now.........:dancer:

Hi Sophia,
What a shame about the photobucket problem - hope that gets sorted out soon, I can just imagine how frustrating it must be!
I can empathise with you about the DH just not getting it with the ADRs - much as Grumpy loves Disney, he's just not that bothered about the choices for eating. He knows where he doesn't want to eat, but gets annoyed when I get going about the different choices. Men! ;)
Talking of him, he was jealous of Grumpy's stein, so you could get him one like that! :rotfl: Just tell him to watch he doesn't take an eye out!! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Jenn, I'll resend my shirt stuff via email. Also, I have not talked to my friends to find out where they ate except for Emeril's. They loved that!
Di, I am definitely going to get the stein for Joe that Grumpy got. Joe loved that stein! I have to figure out how to get it and hide it. :lmao:
Well, we are still going back and forth with Photobucket. :confused3 I know it's not rocket science but it is frustrating as all heck. I am now looking to see what other photo storage sites I can find that will work so that I can put pics here on DIS. Unfortunately this whole Photobucket has turned into a family argument. :sad2::sad1:

Di,
No luck on the photobucket so I am going to just se the DISer Photo section for the pictures I post. The photobucket support team is no help at all.
I think I am going to call and see what I might be able to arrange with Disney. You're right....they can probably do it!

Welcome back! Thanks for the Jiko suggestion. I am going to check their menu on All Ears. It's one place we have never been before but I don't remember why.
We normally don't do the matchy matchy t-shirt thing unless we're at Disney. :lmao: I can't even imagine Joe's reaction if I ever suggested it outside of a Disney trip. Believe me, he is not thrilled about this but I think he's just humoring me. :rolleyes1
So, what do you think of our weather? :cool2: At least it is not snowing. :rotfl: I think you should ask your mom what she's busy doing and why she doesn't think she can take a break. :rolleyes1 Sometimes if I do that enough to Joe, he caves in. :dance3: Basically, I drive him nuts until he agrees! :woohoo:

I've spent the last hour or so finalizing my Mousekeeping envelopes. :yay: they are finally done! :woohoo: I will do the same thing I did last year, which is put cash in them now so that they are ready to go. I know, I know, it's a bit soon, right? I usually just fill them and put them in my handy dandy trip binder or my passporter and they are ready to go.
I also finalized my CM thank you cards, which I will put inside my tip envelopes. Yep, I am a dork. I get those ready too. One thing I don't do though is fill them in advance since I have no idea what our tips will be. I make envelopes for each TS meal, put the thank you cards inside which usually correspond with the theme of the TS location and put them in my back pack. I then put the tip inside and leave them with the bill. :rolleyes1
Yay, two more things done. Well, not technically done done as I still have to print and laminate the cards.

Hahaha, you're right - at least it's not snowing! and I don't think it is too soon to do your Mousekeeping stuff! I wanted to tell you that I was thinking about your CM thank you cards on my trip. We really only had a few CM's that were especially friendly this trip! And Eddie  from Rose & Crown was nice AND cute!! LOL! Look for him when you go - if he's even still there in September!
Jiko was great. You should definitely consider it. My parents both LOVED it and so did I. Our waitress was extremely helpful and provided great service. Also there weren't a thousand little kids running around or strollers banging into you like at Boma. Great atmosphere and great food! perfect for an anniversary!!
As for my mom - this morning I finally got her to say that she'd like to take a trip - she just doesn't want to go to Disney!!!!!!!! I tried to say "Yeah but I have a PIN code and it would be cheaper than anywhere else! No worries about transportation, etc. Once you pay for your vacation - that's it!" I think she's thinking about it LOL. I'm trying to make a list of things to do that you wouldn't think about at Disney to persuade her. Any ideas?!
PS last night I found a photo of my girlfriends and I from 8th grade with our homemade matching t-shirts for the OTown concert at Nautica downtown! Remember that place??
