Hi,
Decided to start this thread since it seems this is the only sailing date in 2009 that has not been started. We hope there are others sailing with us..(or we might have the ship to overselves; )

It will be the first cruise for my kids (not kids any more - both are in their twenties):
Melissa DD and her husband (Scott)
Matt DS and his girlfriend (Michelle)
and Me - Georgiana (not any where close to twenty)

This is my second cruise - I jumped in with both feet and did the EB Panama Canal Cruise last August pirate: and now :lovestruc Love Cruising...

We were just wondering if there are other families on the boards that are doing this cruise and that might be interested in Fish Extender Gift Exchanges and other meets or things...

I actually started one forever ago! Looks like we're the only ones cruising so it will be a very empty ship!;) Seriously though, I'm sure others will join as the time gets nearer.

I was beginning to think WE were the only ones sailing on this date too:confused3 (and wondering if there was something others knew that I didn't-lol). Anyhow, our little sailing party consists of myself, DH, DD (age 25 at time of sailing), and DD's best friend (age 26.) The young ladies will have their own cabin across from ours  We look forward to sharing planning information and cruise anticipation with fellow cruisers:dance3:

I am so glad that we are not alone! This is our second cruise, my kids are younger (DD will be 14 and DS will be just shy of 18) DH and I are in our 40's. The last time we cruised we were unable to dock at CC so we are doing one last family vacation before DS graduates and is off to bigger and brighter things!

We will be on the cruise too! It'll be me, Brenda, my husband, Brian, and our daughters, Faith, Kaitlyn and Havilah. We're new to cruising ( and the DIS boards ). After the cruise, we'll be in WDW for a week, staying at Pop Century. Can't wait!

Count us in too! My kids will be DS 15, DD 13, DD 11. We got adjoining secret portholes.:cool1: This is our second cruise, we went on a 4 night cruise in '07.

Joining us on their first cruise is DMIL, DFIL. They will be down the hall in a varandah room. Also sailing with us will be DBIL, DSIL, DNephew 7, DNiece 10, also in a secret porthole room.:cool1:

After the cruise we will all spend a week in WDW. Let's hope we are still talking to each other by the end of two weeks together.:woohoo:

Hey everyone, be sure to check the price on your cruise! we were able to have our fuel surcharge removed recently, and then today got a further reduction on each of our rooms due to price going down since we booked in the summer!

We got the fuel surcharge removed soon after they made the announcement. Just to throw this out there- any kids who will be 11, 9 or 6 on the cruise? Faith, Kaitlyn and Havilah would love to know!

Yikes!!! Disney accidently changed our state room! :scared1: So unless the nice manager I spoke with just now can fix their mess-up, we might not be joining you all after all! We had a secret veranda room on deck 7 with our girls across the hall, and for some unknown reason the agent took off our ground transfers and changed our room(but not the girls room!) The manager assures me she will do all she can to fix the situation, but unless she can give me another secret veranda room (and a room nearby for the girls) or a regular veranda for the same price (yes, I'm spoiled, I need my clear veranda, especially since that is what I already HAD booked), we may have to cancel. I am sooo upset by this , especially since we planned and booked this cruise long ago. :scared: . This is not making my Christmas very merry at all! She is supposed to update me on Friday, since they are closed tomorrow. I wish I could be as confident as she was trying to sound that they can resolve this issue, but I fear the worst. To make matters worse, we already booked our before and after rooms using our DVC points. What a mess!

Thank you for the support , Coolmommy! Disney called back and let us know that they are working on a solution to the issue, and now that the shock has worn off I am more confident that they will find a way to make it ok (DCL has never let us down in the past, so hopefully it will be the same this time). Happy holidays everyone, and think WARM thoughts!

We will also be on this cruise. This will be our third Disney cruise but the first out of Port Canaveral. We have done the Mexican Rivera both times the Magic was on the west coast. We are really excited about this cruise and going to Castaway Cay. We are trying to keep it a secret from our DS 9 and DD 5. We will be spending time at WDW before the cruise and they think we are going home on the 11th. We can't wait to see their faces when we board the Disney Cruise transportation instead of ME. :yay: :yay: :yay:

oh how FUN proV!
Ok, now it is starting to feel real! I have booked my hotel at the port, booked my DVC pre accomadations, and booked a rental car in case we fly. I have to wait it out for SW to post flights for July, but I want to be prepared and not run into the super expensive car rental rates I ran into last summer! I am an OCD planner so having all my ducks in a row is kind of important for me.

I'm still hoping to find some 13/14 yo to connect with my DD before the cruise as well. Last cruise it worked out great to have premade friends on the ship!

DID they make it right yet?

Maybe they will just give you a "full verandah" cat 6 with the girls across the hall :thumbsup2

We have a full for this cruise. Room 6632 because our "Brett & Chrissy Suite" 6634 (secret verandah cat 7) was only available for one of the 2 weeks we will be onboard. We did not want to change rooms so took the room next door.
Deck 6 in this area is our favorite! Come down a deck & join us!
We had deck 7 for the EB Repo. I did not notice a difference in noise or movement or anything.

BTW Everyone- We need a "logo" for our cruise. Is there one I have not seen here yet?

Thanks for asking! Yes we did hear back and they did make us an offer of deck 6. It is a long story, but let's just say the attitude of the Disney reprentative we spoke to was very undisney-like. She never called me back as promised until I called her , and when she did it was very cold and businesslike -kinda take it or leave it attitude. It was her attitude that upset us more than the offer (if we knew you guys were possible neighbors , we probably would have been much happier, but at the time the cold treatment we got from DCL just upset us more.) It looks like we may be neighbors, I think we are in staterooms 61 something (I forget what exactly now) on deck 6 . I did write a letter to DCL expressing how upset we were at how this was handled- accidents happen and although we were intially upset that the problem arose, it was the way it was handled in the end that was the most disappointing. I know it was only a stateroom, but we had chosen this particular cruise many months ago in part because that stateroom on that particular deck was available . I agree deck 6 is great, but we were so looking forward to our stay on deck 7. But with wonderful DIS neighbors like you , I'm sure we will have a great trip.

Well everyone, it looks like Disney has helped us to straighten out our cabin problems to the best of their abilities (after all, they can't manufacture new cabins lol ;) . So after a discussion with a wonderful disney rep( in reply to a letter we wrote) , it looks like we have worked out a new "home' for us. It is not in the area of the ship we wanted to be, but it is on the deck we wanted, so we decided to give it a try- who knows, maybe we will find a new favorite? Thanks again all for your support. Sooo... on another topic, it is snowing here AGAIN , anyone else besides me dreaming of warm weather and the beautiful beaches at CC??

I haven't been on these boards lately but we've past the 180 day mark, finally less than 6 months left!:cool1: Has anyone given thought to what excursions they'll go on? Castaway club members can book at 60 days out, correct? We were thinking of swimming with dolphins in Cozemal(sp?), maybe stingrays in Grand Cayman and going on our own in Key West.

mom2missmouse - Glad you had your stateroom issue resolved.

By the way, it is 9 degrees here right now! Brrrr

Key West on our own
Caymen the kids have mentioned the turtle farm
Cozumel the kids have asked to do something with the ruins
Castaway Cay I think we will be doing the stingray feed (we were supposed to do that in April 2008, but we never made it into CC because of the way too choppy waters)

I finally have the time to post. Great seeing that there are others cruising. It has been a busy fall and winter. DM (83 years old) was in the hospital for a week in the fall. She seems to be doing fine now - but I can tell she is getting older and she gets mad at herself because she can't do as much as she wants..

Can't believe that we have a little over 5 months until we sail.:cool1: One of my friends at school just got back from the 7 day Eastern on the Magic and is suffering from PDD. Says her husband keeps looking for the buffet.....:rotfl2:

DS just sent off his application for a passport and DD just got hers back with her married name. DSGF has cruised on other ships so she is set. (I keep telling her I don’t think the Magic is a party boat like the ones she has cruised on before.) More people maybe joining our group. A friend of my DD and DSL just emailed me that her husband finally agreed to cruise. (Their first cruise, too.) I'm the veteran with one cruise under my life jacket.

Just starting to look at excursions:
Key West - DSL has been to Key West so he is in charge of this port. He says there are several drinking establishments he wants show us.:drinking1 As far as Grand Cayman and Cozumel some want to zip-line, others want to ride the horses, take out jeeps, or cruise to see rays and turtles. Who knows what we'll do. :confused3

DD is busy reading posts on the DIS and making door signs. DS is looking at Pirate costumes…he found a costume – he’ll be a 6”5” ghost pirate pirate: and his DGF is 5’ – she hasn’t picked a costume yet. DSL is wearing a pirate T-Shirt…..

What dinner seating did everyone request? We have second seating – which will be great for us. Hoping to get 8:00. Is anyone coming in before Saturday?

Welcome back Gofenmom! Lots of pixie dust for your DM! I know what you mean about being busy, I can't believe it will be Feb. tomorrow! Our little group isn't really planning on excusions at this time, we would like to just wander around the ports on our own then go back and enjoy our beautiful ship . But who knows, we might change our minds- lol! We are arriving in Fla. a couple days early- planning on flying in on Thursday morning. We are already booked at BVC ( we are DVC members so was nice to have pre-paid rooms). I know I can't wait for our cruise, snow days are nice (I teach and the break is welcome now and then),but I think we have had enough for this year lol.

Wow, I teach fourth grade or should I say at least I will teach 4th grade for 4more months, since I’m planning on retiring this June after 33 1/2 years:goodvibes ..I still love every day with the kids and hope I am making the right decision. But I need to be free to take care of my mom when she isn’t feeling well and since she loves to travel it will be a perfect time to do small trips with her. Thought I’d start with a cruise up into New England and Eastern Canada – close to land… then maybe she will venture onto the Magic.

I teach in a wonderful district with very supportive parents and super kids. :thumbsup2 Since I started years and years ago my district has grown from 1 HS, 1MS, and 2 Elem schools… Now we have 2 HS, 3 MS, 6 Elem schools and 3 Early Childhood centers with plans for another HS and Elem school within 2 years… DE has separate school districts not districts that cover the entire county. WE only have three counties but just in my county there are 6 school districts.

It is going to be so hard to leave :confused3 – I have always taught with my best friend (she is ten years younger and has 5 more years until retirement. )For the last 15 years or so we have shared around 60 students each year. I teach the Math, Science and DE History (as I tell her – the best subjects). :thumbsup2 She picks up Literacy and the rest of the Social Studies Units. To add to the confusion of retiring they are completely redoing my school starting the last teacher day. Everyone has to be packed and OUT that day. Get real. Do they know how long it takes to pack and say good bye to my room? Teachers will usually take any freebies… BUT – “Who will want all of my Treasures that I’ve kept/collected/horded over the last 33 years…since everyone has to pack and take ALL personal items home.” At least my student teacher this session has said she’ll take anything I’m giving away. Keep kidding my principal that I’m retiring a week before the last day so someone can pack my room….LOL
So this cruise is going to be my retirement celebration. party: I’ll be sitting on the veranda making lists of things I can do with all my free time……:surfweb:

Hey! We're on this cruise. I checked a while back and didn;t see a thread so i assumed there wasn't one. Any way we're a pretty big party of 7. Me, My wife Ann, my three girls 21, 16, & 14. My DM and DF who will be first time cruisers. We also have friends from Georgia who will be on this cruise. We met them on our first cruise in 2002 and have been going on DCL cruises together ever since.

I made flight and hotel reservations today. It's getting close.

Welcome.:yay:
More Cruisers –Yeah

You are ahead of us… We haven’t booked the flights or rooms. :confused3 I am taking the Autotrain down since I’m following this cruise with a cruise in Alaska and leave from FL on the 19th. Packing summer clothes and colder weather clothes….oh my….:faint: Hopefully the kids will have their bags packed and I can take some of them with me on the train saving on baggage fees. My Alaska cruising buddy asked us to stay with her in St. Cloud the night before our Disney cruise and will help drive us to the port in the morning. I’ll be leaving the colder weather clothes at her house.

It is so neat that you are cruising with friends you made years ago. As I said in the other posts, this is only my second cruise but I made many friends on the EB Panama Canal Cruise and plan on cruising with some of them in the Med and on the WB Transatlantic in 2010.

Since there are so few of us on this thread - I wonder if the cruise isn't full or if there are lots of first time cruisers...(people that haven't discovered the Dis).

DS and DGF want to come down early and spend a few days at AKL DVC before the cruise - since DGF has never been to Disney. DD plans to come down on the Autotrain with me - DSL will fly down Friday night and then both couples plan to spend Sat. and Sun. at AKL after the cruise - before flying home on Sunday.
Our children did not attend school last week since a bridge in our school district was closed for the week and part of our district would have had to travel miles around to attend the schools. Of course we had two in-service days and two days/nights for parent conferences - the great thing is that we had Friday off (comp day) and then Monday off so it was a 4 day weekend.
Sent a letter to HR letting them know that I'm retiring after 34 years of teaching. I have really mixed feelings since I still love teaching but our building is undergoing renovations and 1/2 of our population is attending a new school. Everyone has to pack up all personal materials and take them home for the summer and then in the fall move to a new room for 1/2 a year then in Jan. pack again to move to another room in the building - so I thought it was a good time to retire.
Hope everyone has a great day... off to school we go...

We booked our flights! :cool1: So now we are all booked except for excursions for the cruise and ADR's for the WDW portion. We fly down on the 10th, pick up 2 minivans, stay at shades of green, probably go to downtown disney, leave for port in the am, drop off vans board ship. Have a wonderful cruise with some excursions yet TBD. Leave ship, pick up 2 minivans, stop for some groceries, check into animal kingdom villas, drop off minivan, head to the World, flight home on the 25th.

So we still need to decide on excursions, I would like to swim with the dolphins and stingrays (captain marvins?) but not sure if we will. I am fine with booking our own excursions but the rest of our group is worried we'll get left behind if we don't book through DCL.

My DMIL and DFIL have a time share in Key West, they've gone every year for about 20 yrs, so they are in charge of that one. Their place said we could all come by and use the pool, kind of odd, but they want to show the grandkids their place so we will stop in.

gofenmom- Congrats on your decision to retire!
mom2missmouse - Good point about traffic, we'll have to leave extra time to get to the port.

Got our cruise packets today! :cool1: Anyone else?

Now to decide what excursions to take. It seems that there are more listed online then in the booklet they sent. I figure the online information is more current.

I started working on some shirts for the whole group today. I'm planning on making some magnets too.

Anyone know how dressed people get for formal night? I see there is a form for ordering a tux.

I got mine yesterday, but the materials are for a 4 day Wonder cruise--so the information is all wrong--I'm going to call my TA an dsee if she can have another, correct one sent to me--The paperwork was ok in the corner it said Magic, etc. but the booklet and stuff was totally all for the Wonder and Bahamas/CC. I hope everyone else got the right stuff!

Another SNOW DAY here in DE. They have canceled school for tomorrow (Tuesday)...so I can sleep in.:goodvibes
Friends of my DD & DSL decided they couldn't afford the cruise this year so it will be just the 5 of us. Received my cruise docs :yay: - changed DD and DSL's room to a cat 5 - they will be near the mid elevators and we are on the next deck up - by the elevators. I'm hoping this location will mean less walking for her. The Sept. after she graduated from college it was discovered that she had a bone tumor in her femur  - it had eaten the entire inside of her bone and the outside of the bone was egg shell thin. Thanks to the prayers of family and friends it wasn't cancer. That did not save her from having a rod and plate with screws inside her leg and the inside of the bone filled with donated material. After 7 years, she has had two additional operations to remove scar tissue and lengthen something and to work on her knee - and always has pain if a storm is coming in or if she stands too long. Had them in a cat 7 - secret veranda room port side before the move. Is everyone digging out from the snow?

Hi Everyone!!! We are on this cruise too! My husband, myself and our 3 children (DD is 13, DS will be 12 and DS will turn 4 on the cruise). We are traveling with 2 other families, each with 3 children (13, 9, 8, 8, 3, 3). We are all going to WDW before the cruise and staying at the BCV. We are all DVC members. This is our first cruise. One of the families has cruised with RCI before. The teens are really looking forward to the teen only area. I still have to book my flight and we have to decide on our excursions. I think we are going to book independently so we can take the 3 and 4 year olds on some more adventurous excursions other than a beach break. The boys in our group (13, 12, 9 and 8) are really excited about the basketball court too!! My DD (13) would love to meet some other girls.

Just reserved a spot with Nativeway Watersports for our Grand Cayman excursion!:cool1: We decided on the Stingray and snorkel tour, we'll get to swim with the stingrays and see the island! Just a few more weeks until we can book Disney Excursions, of course that also means just a few more weeks to pay off the cruise.

4 months and 4 days...until we sail.....:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: We have to sit down and start picking out tours in the next week or two. I think in KW the kids are going to tour some local spots to sample the food..and drinks. :dance3: I'll probably do the trolley and stop at some of the tourist places. DS and his DGF received the cruise information for the 3 day Wonder cruise instead of our cruise. DD, DSL and I received the 7 Day Western information. DD and DSL have their flights but DS and DGF need to wait because of their work. They both have off the week but would like to get off a few days before the cruise since DGF has never been to WDW. I'm doing the Autotrain. Weather was great here in DE...is spring here?

First time Disney cruise goer here from Orange, TX. Cruised once before with RCI.....just me and the wifey (40 and 37) for our 10 year. This time we'll be with our two boys (12 and 10). Now it's 15 years. :thumbsup2

Not really sure what to expect but we have been to WDW and if it's anything like that it should be awesome.

Last cruise we took we commented on how much fun it would be to have other folks to meet up with so here I'll be watching this thread with excitement. popcorn::

Welcome to the group... We are gathering more cruisers all the time. This is only my second cruise and the first cruise for DD,DSL, DS, and first Disney cruise for DS's GF. I had a wonderful time on my first cruise and have booked two cruises in 2010 - a Med cruise followed by the WB Repo cruise - 24 days on the Magic. Everyone is excited.:dance3: about our July cruise... well DSL just doesn't understand the "Disney Magic" at WDW yet, but he loves all of us so he comes along and always has a great time. He loves the water and they have a boat in Ocean City, MD so he is looking forward to the cruise.

When I was planning my first cruise, I found the Disboards so informative - reading them each day. Didn't post too many questions because I always found the answers on the boards before I asked them. Are you guys coming down before the cruise?

Again "Welcome aboard" :goodvibes

Thanks for the Welcome.

We will be driving from Orange, TX (~900 miles) Friday and staying the night in Cocoa Beach. After the cruise were going to spend two days at Universal then drive to Pensecola (half way home) and stay for two days. We should be good and worn out by the time our vacation is over........at least Mom and Dad. :crazy2:

There is still a little time to plan but is it common for everyone to plan a get together with others from this thread?

I am going to list the cruisers on our thread. Please let me know if there are any mistakes or additions when I post it.

Do we want to do a meet sometime during the cruise. :chat: :chat:? Remember this is only my second cruise - so I've never organized a meet... any interest, suggestions for time and place? mckster - Welcome!
I've been trying to come up with excursions for my family cruise ages: ds 14, dd 13, dd 11. The whole family wants to swim with the dolphins. And as I posted previously we booked with Native Way a Stingray City and Island Tour. We were going to do the rays, reef and rum tour with Native way but my dd 11 wants to see the turtles.

gofenmom - I think it would be fun to put faces to these names. I would join into a fish exchange but don't mind if there isn't one. I'm not sure about my extended dfamily, but I'd think not.

We will celebrate my dd's 13 birthday on July 12th, Key West Day.

Good morning - here in DE it is rainy and foggy...
A day that really has me longing for the afternoon when we board the Magic. :dance3:
Well I got through the two weeks of state testing. During that time our governor presented his budget which included a total of a 10% decrease in state employee's salary in addition to an increase in health care costs. This hit our family hard because all of us work for the state. DD, DSL, DS, his DGF and I all work for the state - that totals a 20% decrease for their households...tough cuts. This is hitting education hard with 3 less in-service days and larger classes..:sad2: Not sure if all of the cuts will pass we will just have to wait and see. Still cruising though....

How is everyone doing? I'll try to work on the list of cruisers in the next few weeks...So far we have decided to do the following as far as excursions:

Key West: I'll be touring the historical sites. Want to see if there is a way to get to the fort in KW. As I said before the kids we be touring the other sites..ones that sell liquid refreshments.:drinking1:drinking1 Don't think we will do Palo during our KW stop - just hope they make the ship.

Grand Cayman: Island Tour and Snorkeling with Stingrays:woohoo:

Cozumel: Fury Catamaran Sail, Snorkel, and Beach Party or Caverns Exploration and Beach Tour or Xcaret Eco Park :confused3

Castaway Cay: Extreme Getaway Package pirate:

Has anyone else decided on excursions? Picked a day for Palo? Favorite things to do on the ship? Favorite shows? Must dos?

Have a great Sunday.

We are a party of 11 and are looking for others to share a 28 passanger shuttle bus to and from the airport. Pick-up from the airport on the 11th would be around 10:30ish (negotiable) and pick-up from port for the return trip to the airport would be around 9:00. This is a round trip deal. Yes - You can ride one way at the round trip price.

If we can get...
20 people the round trip will be $30.00 per person (which includes the tip)
25 people would be $24.00 each and
28 people will be $21.50.

We already have 11.

Disney charges $70 some-odd for the round trip.

If you have not yet paid off your cruise, you can cancel the transportation portion and save some money for souvenirs.

Let's have a mini cruise-meet on the bus!

We have one room on deck 7 and one on deck 8. One room is on the port side and the other on starboard...that way we have both views covered....:sail:

We have paid off the cruise :dance3: and will have a car in FL since I'm going down by Autotrain. A friend from St. Cloud will be taking us to the port so we can't help out with the mini bus...sorry.

The web page is actually a WIKI page.

A wiki is cool in that anyone (given permission) can edit or contribute. If you just want to read and look, you can, but if you want to post comments, or edit/add full content you need to be given permission by the administrator. Lucky for you all, I know him. :goodvibes All that is required is a first name (fictious or not - mine is Jeff) and an email. Just request permission through the site and tell me if you want to be a reader with the ability to add comments or a writer with the ability to add and edit full content. I welcome all. my email is jc23@comcast.net

Just checking in! It is finally getting close and I woke up to snow again today so I am really in the mood for a nice sunny warm cruise!

Jeff that looks great, after Wednesday I will contact you about your Wiki--I can't wait for this Spring break from school but for the next few days I have tons to accomplish!

So as far as the cruise I'm finally paid in full, I think I have our excursions narrowed down, I have no idea when DH and I will do Palo--but 9pm ish on formal night is looking like a strong possibility. Since we have main dining I figure we could go with the kids, catch the show then go to a lovely late dinner.
As for excursions--we are going to "wing it" in Key West--a nice walking tour and stop off when we are all inclined to do so.
Caymen we are going to go to Boatswain's park, looks like plenty to do there to keep us busy.
Cozumel is looking like the Tulum Ruins/ Beach tour. Though the beach time will be short that is ok with us.
CC we will feed the sting rays but then the day will be down time and enjoying the activities that are there. Though we have cruised before , we have never been to CC since we couldn't dock there last April because of strong winds and waves.

I am willing to do fish extender gifts if others are interested as well. Last cruise no one participated.

We rented 2 minivans for our transfers, $66 each for one day rental. So for all 11 of our party it will only cost $132. We will pick up at the airport and drop off at Cocoa Beach, then take a taxi to the port for the 2 drivers. Still way cheaper. Just giving you another possible option.

You may want to call the rental car company to see if they will shuttle your two drivers to the port. You may be able to save on the cab fare.

Prices are per mini van not total for 2, but here are some ideas.

I'm getting a regular mini van coming up prepaid from Budget for $100.48 with codeZ959200 (public code good for anyone) AIrport pick up at 10:30, drop off at port canaveral location for noon. 150 free miles each additional mile .25 cents. Didn't check for return data.

Dollar is coming up $80.74 same time perameters from MCO to Port Canaveral
with public code Z959200

Thrifty return to airport as per your 9am pick up and noon drop off via rental car mama's site port canaveral location to MCO $78.39

I hope everyone else got the right stuff!

How old are your kids?

We are going to try and not let the kids find out it is a "farm" where they are raised not saved. At least that is what we heard.

Hi Granny and welcome. We too booked while on our last cruise in April of 2008. Can't believe it has been a year already--but I am glad as I can't wait to get out of the Buffalo winter--it was snowing again today--somebody needs to remind someone to turn off the snow, it is nearly mid April--at this rate the lake temp will still be in the 50's come July!(I hope I am kidding)
My kids are not young--DD is 14 (or will be when we cruise) and DS is 17--he'll be 18 in September. For us this is the last horrah-the final vacation when I can count on my whole little family being together:sad1:It is bittersweet. We will have a great time as who knows what wonderful things await DS as he embarks on his great journey of adulthood.

Glad to see I am not the only crazy Mom that likes to add fun surprises into the vacation! I couldn't keep the whole cruise a secret but the DD (8) and DS (5) do not know we are flying and using DCL transportation - they think they have to ride in the car for 9 hours!! We have done DW as a total surprise 2 times- the looks on their faces are priceless and worth the effort!!:smooth:

Hi,
Decided to start this thread since it seems this is the only sailing date in 2009 that has not been started.

Could you explain to me what the Fish Extender exchange is? We are new to this! Thank you!

We got the fuel surcharge removed soon after they made the announcement. Just to throw this out there- any kids who will be 11, 9 or 6 on the cruise? Faith, Kaitlyn and Havilah would love to know!

My DD will be 8 1/2 at cruise time - she is begging me to find her a friend before we set sail. DS will be 5 1/2.

I have not checked in here in a while, didn't get emails of all these new msgs. Lots of new dis'ers yeah!

You may want to call the rental car company to see if they will shuttle your two drivers to the port. You may be able to save on the cab fare.
When I called dollar to check, it was totally painless and prerecorded so I didnt' even have to talk to anyone!
I will check this out!

We are using National. I joined the emerald club free from some code I found online. If you search for discount rental codes, a lot come up. I tried all different combos. I also looked over on the transportation board on the dis there were codes there as well. I did book these vans back in Dec., (figured I could always cancel if need be), so rates may have gone up since then.

Could you explain to me what the Fish Extender exchange is? We are new to this! Thank you!

A fish extender is usually a fabric hanging thing with several pockets that you attach the the fish outside your stateroom door. There are some for sale on ebay, most make them themselves, they can be simple or elaborate. (The fish is used by disney to give you messages.) So for the exchange, you would get a list of staterooms participating and you put a small gift in each of their fish extenders.

Hope that all made sense.

Just checking in to say Happy Easter and check to see if all CC members were able to book everything they wanted last night/this morning. Palo went fast for the Thursday seatings! I'm still not sure if I am going to keep the cruise or cancel, but it is nice to know my ducks are in a row if I decide to keep the cruise.

I was able to book our swim with the dolphins but the rest of the family aren't CC members so we hope they will be able to get the same time slot we they can book at 75 days. I did book Palo, for brunch on Thurs. 4 of us at 11 and 2 at 10:30 couldn't get us all in at the same time but we should be able to change that onboard.

Hi all! I'd like to add my welcome to all new cruisers! :banana:Like Vacationkicks, I have been a little out of touch with the boards lately (things have been crazy at school, got to stop putting in 10-12 hours days!lol). We did manage to book what we wanted at the 105 mark (REAS pkg) , but I need to go back and check to make sure they didnt get"lost" (I'm paranoid about such things!). We booked Palo brunch for our first sea day and Palo supper for Thursday (so DH can get his lobster with his steak in style-lol). We are not planning any excursions at this time. We hope to just wander around Key West (visit HR cafe, Magaritaville-DD and DH collect hats, tshirts and pins from these), see southernmost point and then whatever else we wander upon. Hopefully we don't get lost!!! The other two ports we just plan on quick on and off, visit same two places for the above items, then after a quick look around enjoy a somewhat less-crowded ship. We MIGHT consider a quick trip to a nearby beach on GC if that is possible, but except for CC, we are not "all day" beach people.

Also have DS age 5 - he could make friends too - just not able to communicate via email, etc just yet! ;)

Hey everyone. More Texas people coming your way! We just booked last week, so I have not had time to even think about reservations for Palo or excursions. It will be me, DH, DS(9) and DD(6), who actually turns 7 on July 11. If you see a little blond with curls and a birthday crown on, that's us! Any recommendations on what night to NOT book Palo? My DH's birthday is on July 13, so I was thinking about that, but I don't want to miss something good. :cool1:

I am new to posting on these boards and just booked this 7 day cruise. I've read these boards many times before taking my kids to WDW but never posted. This will be our first cruise of any kind and we are soooo excited!! I've been hooked on reading all the posts here for the past couple days!! Once I mentioned to my DD (11) that she may be able to talk to some girls that will be on the cruise too she was even more excited!! If anyone is looking for someone for their daughter to talk to please PM us!! I also have a DS (9) who I'm sure would love a buddy too!!

I'm very excited to learn from all the expert advice here!! I've gotten to be a pro getting around WDW but this is a whole new ballgame!! I never thought I'd convince my DH to take a cruise but when we got the "kids sail free" offer....he loves a good deal and it totally made it work for us!!

Looking forward to chatting with you all!!

Hi all. First time cruiser and DIS poster here. Excited about the cruise. I'm travelling with my DFi, DD 6, DD 5 and my parents. This cruise is my retirement present to my daughters princess: for enduring military life until I retire in June. (OK - it's a retirement gift to myself too ) I want this to be a family cruise, but from all I've read/heard, will I be able to pull my DDs out of the kids clubs to join ME for some fun?

Delaware cruiser here....Welcome to our group...I booked last year and still wasn't ready when it was time to book the excursions and not sure I'm happy with our Palo dinner date and time....:confused3 I booked Palo on formal night...crazy I know but I didn't want to miss the other nights.. This is my second cruise and kids have never cruised..

Another July 11th birthday.... My DS's GF's birthday is also on July 11th...so we are celebrating it on the first night...She will a bit more than 7 more like 7X3+5:wizard:
Several other cruisers have July birthdays...mine is July 8th so I'm picking a night to celebrate it....party:

Have you cruised before? Like I mentioned before this is only my second cruise.

This is information I gathered from the Disboards and it could be wrong…so someone correct me if it is incorrect…:confused3

Second sitting 8:00 8:15 8:30

Tues 14 A Show P Island L French
Wed 15 P Pirate L Pirate A Pirate
Thurs 16 L Captain’s A Captain’s P Captain’s
Fri 17 A Till We Meet P Till We Meet L Till We Meet

I was talking to a Cruise Line rep and requested the 8 o’clock dining time – she led me to believe that they are trying out different things on the Magic and wasn’t sure when we cruise in July if there would be 3 different dining times…at each seating…Maybe we need to post a few questions on the main cruise board…

Haven't posted too much recently- you'll see why...

Well, I did it today... Attended a pension planning session and will be retiring at the end of the school year... having taught 34 years, 6 months and 27 days...and can honestly say that I still love it (on most days:rotfl2:)- It is never (or hardly ever) the children that get me down - it is more the paper work (not grading papers) and changes I see in education..brought on by No Child Left Behind...:worship:

Also, my mom is 83 and I'm an only child. I feel that I need to devote my time making sure she is happy and that I'm able to be there when she needs me..
If retiring wasn't stressful enough I'm moving....(10 miles down the road) I brought a house closer to town and in a development...For the last two weeks I've been packing... after 32 years in one house - this elementary school teacher is the Pack Rat's Pack Rat...

My kids are refusing to move everything...The good thing is that my DS and his GF are moving into the house I am leaving.. For him it is moving back home...Little does he know - I'm leaving lots of my treasures for him... He can throw them away and I don't have to...:rolleyes1

I should be packing treasures but instead...I'm reading and writing on the boards. I needed a break...

I still want to get together a list of our crew....with July birthdays and cabins that want to do fish extenders....and a Dis Meet on board

I'll let you know how the move goes....:upsidedow:upsidedow

I read in another thread that you are retiring from teaching! Good for you - for retiring but also for the hard work you have put in over the years! My DS is also a school teacher - Elem/Special Ed here in GA - 15 years now for her!

It will be me, DH and DS who will be 14 when we sail. This is going to be part of his B-Day present next month. Still trying to think of a way we going to surprise him with it. We did the land and sea in May/June 2007 on the Wonder and loved the ship. The weather was not that great on the ship and we were not able to dock at CC, what a disappointment. But we had a wonderful time on the ship anyway. We're driving down night before and are planning getting on the ship asap to start enjoying the Magic!

Since I've only done FEs one time...I'm not an expert...but I loved preparing the gifts, designing the FE that hangs over the fish in the hallway, distributing the gifts and of course finding FE gifts when I returned to our room. I purchased my FE from a lady on E-bay –she has so many different designs, colors, and will personalize the FE for your family. She will also personalize pillowcases so the characters can sign them if you give them to Guest Services…I can’t post a picture of my FE since my desktop is at my new house and the pics are on it. PM me if you would like her name…This time I may try to make my own FE. I found several postings on the main cruise board about FE gifts and different ideas for FEs.

I plan to celebrate my July 8th birthday one evening...One of our tablemates had a birthday during our first cruise and the B'day cake was cute...

Hello everyone.

I can't believe our cruise is 2 months and 23 days away. I was kind of bummed about the Kids Sail Free promo and not getting the pin but I recently rebooked with AAA and saved our group(3 staterooms) $4400. :thumbsup2

I am sailing with my DH, DS 9, DS 6, DH parents, my mom and my niece 15. My mom and niece have never been on a Disney Cruise so I am looking forward to sharing this experience with them. I haven't made any reservations yet for Palos or for any excursions, so I am in a real panic.

This is our first cruise with DCL so we can't make any reservations until later this month. From what I've been reading, sounds like there won't be much left. I'm not too concerned. Since it is our first DCL cruise, everthing will be new and fun. As long as my daughters (Evelyn - 6 and Katherine - 5) can enjoy the Oceaneers Club they'll be happy. I'm hoping for a reservation at Palo's for my DFi (Doug) and I though. He is coming home on his R&R from a deployment in the Middle East for this. He'll be heading back over there a few days after the cruise to finish out his tour. The focus for us is to have a low-stress family vacation while he is home, and we think the DCL is the way to go. Therefore, we will take what we can get and roll with it. But, a quiet 'grown-up" dinner with him would be great.
Still looking into the FEs. Sounds like fun, but maybe it's too late in the game to put enough thought/effort into it? Who else is doing it? My Mom and Dad might be interested. They've cruised a lot, but never with DCL before so this will be their first. When I mentioned this to her, she sounded interested.

All I have done is made a reservation for a dolphin swim in Grand Cayman. The only time slot left was at 7:30 am. :scared1: The old navigators say that we tender at approx 7:30 am so I am a little concerned about this, but that's why I booked thru DCL. (for those still planning there are lots of time slots still left for Cozumel dolphin swims, so dont panic:)) Other than the swim I havent made any other reservations.

Wow, a lot of new people on this thread, that's great.

goofyisasgoofydoes-My DS will be 15 when we sail. He is not the type to email in advance (only seems to text) but if there is a meet we could introduce them. We are traveling with cousins but they are all much younger than him. He is the only one in our group old enough for the stack.

ErinCJmom - I also have a DD who is 11 and she would be interested in sending a pm or two. PM me if interested.

gofenmom - are you going to do the fish extender list and birthday list? Should we PM you with the info?

For those who haven't booked Palo yet, there are still some time slots available, but remember that not all time slots are able to be booked online. So if you don't get what you want go to wavebands as soon as you board and you may be able to get it.

I just want to make everyone aware that AAA has some excellent rates for this cruise. We were originally booked for this cruise with another TA for $6500 for a CAT 9. We now have a CAT 4 for $4800. That is for me, DH, DS9 and DS6. We have 2 other rooms in our group and they were able to use my discount. That CAT 4 with the other TA would have been over $10,500.

If you want to know more you can check the "Just booked Kid 17 and under sail free" thread. My first post was 4/16/09 at 6:01 pm.

The one thing I do have planned for me this go round is eating escargot(I was too chicken last trip) and staying hydrated.

I ended up in the ER the morning after our last trip and had to have fluids.

I "thought" I was drinking more than enough water but guess not.

I will also not hesitate to go to the medical center onboard if I start to feel the least bit like I did last year. I know now not to "shrug" it off until I get home. The whole ER thing could have possibly been prevented.

My doctor told me last week to drink drink drink water and then drink some more water and to eat fruits and veggies that would supply water to my system. Also said for every alcoholic beverage to drink at least 2 glasses of water.

Just an FYI for anyone that is military or knows someone who is military...
Disney doesn't really advertise it's military deals well. They do offer military discounts on some cruises (mostly 7-day ones). They can be up to 50% off. :woohoo: A military ID card holder can get the deal on up to three rooms. Room cats are limited.
They are also offering free 5-day park passes to military and up to 5 additional 5-day passes for family/friends for $99 each. Can't beat that with a stick!

So, who is interested in FE exchanges?

If you want to know more you can check the "Just booked Kid 17 and under sail free" thread. My first post was 4/16/09 at 6:01 pm.

I hope some people are able to take advantage of this deal. :woohoo:

We just did the same thing and each family saved $2200 and went from a CAT 10 to a CAT 4. WHAT A DEAL!!! :cool1: For those of you who haven't made your final payment...check out AAA.

As for excursions, so far we have booked an independent private sailboat in Grand Cayman to Stingray City. We want an activity in Cozumel that includes the ruins and maybe some beach time.

Has anyone been to Margaritaville in Key West? I think the dad's and older kids are going deep sea fishing.

Does anyone know what DCL does for those celebrating birthdays? My son is turning 4 on July 14th.

My son turned 2 on our last Disney Cruise in 2004 and the servers gave him a cake and pin during dinner and sang Happy Birthday. I made a sign for our door and I also purchased a gift basket to be left in our room that day.

I am so glad you were able to get the AAA promo. I didn't have any issues when I reserved our rooms. I feel terrible that everyone is having such a difficult time.

Now I am finally feeling like it is real! I can't wait to get out of the cold--saw a few snowflakes again this morning and I am just so sick of the cold!

GrannyHawkins--don't chicken out on the escargot--DD has always been very adventurous with her food choices and she was the one who got me to try it a few years ago--I think she was 10 at the time--not all that bad and I am glad to have had the experience. Depending on how they are cooked I would have them again--I like them in the tiny little hollowed out bread with garlic!

5Mousefans
They brought DH a cake, and a certificate and sang Happy B-day to him. It was a nice touch--they even set the cake up for us to take back to the stateroom as we had late dining on our last cruise.

How many are doing the FE's?

First time Disney Cruiser needing a little advice picking excursions. We have picked our excursions for Grand Cayman and Cozumel but not sure what to do in Key West and Castaway Cay.........sorta.

In Castaway Cay I really want to the do parasailing but I don't want the whole day planned around it. How do they set up the parasailing and can we do other things before and/or after that excursion?

In Key West I really don't have a clue what to do. The only thing I can think of is walking around town. I do however want to snorkle and this or Castaway Cay may will be our only places.

In Cozumel were doing the Tulum Ruins and in Grand Cayman were doing the Dolphin Extreme Swim and Turtle Farm.

Any advice is appreciated. I'm really trying to make this an awesome trip for our family.

My DD(8) and I are signed up to do the parasailing at CC :cool2:- it is a 1 hour excursion so it should not take up much of your day at all! We are going at 9:30AM to do that first then head over to the island!:yay::beach:

We too have no plans at Key West except explore! :upsidedow We are going to do the Train Tour on our own (not the DCL excursion) - because you can get on and off the trolley and use it as long as you like. We will just check out whichever spots seem to catch our interest!:Pinkbounc

I personally would not schedule more than 1 excursion daily - just to give you more time to explore and/or relax and not have to worry too much about a time schedule......'cept of course that one to get back on the boat!!!:boat::sail:

Hope to see you in July!!

Registration will register your children for the entire trip. (Except Flounder's Nursery if that applies) - You check the children in and out whenever you wish. You will receive a pager at the terminal that the CM in the club will use to page you if you are needed or when your child is ready to leave. If they are 8 or older you do have the ability to allow them to check themselves in and out of the club if you want to. This is part on the online registration info you complete prior to the cruise.

Hope this helps - and hope to see you in July!!!:cloud9:

:welcome: Glad to have you joining us! I just learned about this board myself last week......not so sure how much help I am since I am just learning too!

For instance....I have just found out about fish extenders or FE as you will see them referred to on the DISboards!.....It is an organizer type hanging that hangs over the fish outside your stateroom door. "Crafty little personalized thing" - you can then sign up to be part of the FE exchange and you essentially swap gifts with others during our cruise. Here is a link that may help you a little more...... http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607 - Check back through the thread for our cruise and you will find the contact info for the organizer of our FE exchange if you are interested. (Gofenmom)

:confused3 Check out the main Disney Cruise Line Forum page and you will find all sorts of info! (Careful - it is addicitive!) There is a link on that page for FAQ also -and even a link to help you out with all of the abbreviations.

Register the kids for the Kids Clubs!

Book your excursions as soon as you can. Everyone raves of Palo- I hear it is PERFECT!! I have never done it as DH passed away 4 years ago, so I travel with my Mom and my children (DD8 and DS5) - no romance required!! :lmao: (We may do high tea if an opening becomes available though!:wizard:)

It's best to start planning and organizing, but.....DO NOT overplan to the point you stress out over it - it is your MAGICal vacation after all!!!:cloud9:

Enjoy and Have Fun!!! Hope to see you in July!!

Howdy and welcome aboard…:yay:

Since you’re already “cursing” these boards, your going to pick up a lot of good info just browsing the various threads. I don’t post all that often (although I may have to change my stance on that) but me and my DH both read through the boards pretty much daily.:surfweb:

My first suggestion would be to agree with “Special K's Mom”: Do not over plan, or you’ll forget to have fun. The ports of call are all interesting, but just being on a DCL ship is an adventure in its self. The entire crew will do their best to make every moment memorable.

Second, if you have time, try to take part in some of the family games and contests on board (every thing from trivia to vegetable-car races). Your kids are just the right age for a lot of these. There are a number of threads that show images of the daily ship's newsletters from previous cruses that will give you a good idea of the schedules and events offered.

Third, to get a really good overview of every thing Disney on the Magic and Wonder, here’s a fantastic book: “PassPorter Disney Cruise Line and Its Ports of Call”. I believe that there is a new edition for 2009 and I know you can fine it on Amazon.

Again, glad to have you along, but be warned, a DCL cruise can be just as addictive as a stay at their resorts. Once you’ve done one, you’ll be back (and I hope to be going along with you on that one as well).:thumbsup2

See you in July!!

Special K's Mom, I'm taking your advice:

Key West - I'm not booking anything. I think we'll just wing-it! Should be a lot of fun with little or no schedule pressure.

Castaway Cay - Only booked the parasailing.............I did however book the Castaway Cay Cabana Massage (:flower3:) for DW later in the day. While she is doing that DS(10), DS(12) and I will go bike riding or something. :jumping1:

In addition to those ideas Special K's Mom suggested we are also doing the Tulum Ruins. I'm not real crazy about all of the traveling it takes to get to the Ruins but DW wants to go so.............were going (I know my place :rolleyes1). We are also doing the Dolphin Extreme Swim and Turtle Farm in Grand Cayman and I booked the Palo Dinner.

Should be a good time.

Sorry that I've been away for awhile....desk top has been down (apart) for 3 weeks, letting my children's step-mother use laptop, so I'm using my travel size Gateway that I purchased for our trip...Really small but so cute.

I have been finishing up my move ...stayed in the house first time Sunday night....still lots of things at my old house and boxes here to unpack...We have moved three weekends in a row....

Then to add to that stress,, a family member that had a bone tumor about 7 years ago had an additional surgery this fall to repair and release some other items in the leg - just discovered a large mass growing next to the scar... Dr tried to pull out fluid with a spinal needle - nothing came out after 6 or so tries and hitting the leg bone with the needle.... MRI does not ID what it is... waiting to see another DR in May (plastic surgeon) and has appt with tumor Dr in Phila in June.. So I haven't had time to compile a list or but I've thought of you guys and will work on it this weekend.. I see more people have joined our cruise...I can't wait...

This would be the 2nd time I've had plans to visit Cozumel and didn't get to though - in 2005 I had to alter my plans due to a Hurricance that destroyed parts of Cozumel. (I don't remember which one it was though)

Hope everyone else is enjoying the countdown - see y'all in July!!

Hi, DISers! I just got off the Magic on Saturday. I bought a copy of the Port & Shopping Club book onboard and was wondering if anyone wanted my copy. It is full of coupons and freebies for all the ports you are stopping at. (I used the coupons on the Eastern cruise so all the Western stops are untouched.) For example, Cozumel has coupons for a free magnet, free shot glass, and antique map. Key West has free tanzanite earrings, free gemstone, and free magnet.

The book expires at the end of this year and I'm not going to cruise again so I'd like to pass it along to someone who will! PM me if you're interested.

The book has been claimed!

Well, I haven't started packing yet but, I did start buying clothes with the cruise in mind. I made sure the girls Easter dresses would work as cruise wear for semi-formal or formal night. Also, that my son's Khaki's will still be long enough come July.

I think we might be OK for Mexico. It's our first cruise ever too, so there will be enough fun/new things to do that I doubt it will detract from our experience if we don't get to stop there. Patty,

I don't think that I'll join in on the exchange this time....I feel overwhelmed with all I need to do to get ready for the trip that I worry that it would be too much. Hopefully my family will have such a great time that we'll book another cruise!! And then we can get more involved!!

I'm worried that my husband won't be able to relax....he's the kind of guy that needs to be busy from sun up to sun down. Trips to WDW with him are exhausting!! You're right about everything being new and exciting that it doesn't really matter where we go....but I hope we do because my kids are really excited about swimming with dolphins there.

I'll be happy wherever we go....but I know people are thinking about it and just wondering what everyone else thinks will happen. I hope it blows over too....but I work in a hospital and had to get fitted for my swine flu astronaut looking mask/filter the other day.
But I do look forward to meeting people from the boards!! Hopefully we can all chat a bit more as it gets closer!!

I would love to participate in the fish extender group. What are good things to get for them? I am planning to make one (as I sew). Our names are Michelle(me), David(DH), Rachel 18-DD,Tim 15 DS and we are so excited to be going on our 1st cruise.

I also have a 15DS, Ian (by the cruise), hopefully they will meet up at the teen club. Have you booked any excursions? We will swim with the dolphins in cozumel and the stingrays in GC.

We have planned to do the ruins and beach tour in Cozumel, and both my kids want to do the teen excursion at CC.(My DD will have just turned 18 on the cruise) I can't remember if we have reserved any on Grand Cayman or not. DS would enjoy have kids his age to meet when we get there. We can't wait to go!

If you were waiting on a GTY cabin assignment, go out and check your reservations. We got ours today :cool1: (at about the 45 day mark). We booked a Cat-12 GTY, and were assigned to a Cat-11. We drew 6317, Deck 6 forward in the “Hidden Hallway”. Not a huge upgrade, but an upgrade non-the-less. We’ll be blessed with very light traffic, but then again, there won’t be may folks going by to see all the work we’ve put into our cabin door magnets. I don’t care though; we’re putting them out anyway.:thumbsup2

Thanks for the shout out. We’ve been following this thread and many others for a while, but just didn’t have much to say until now. Most questions get answered quickly around here, and there isn’t much point in repeating the same answer (even a good one).

Anyway, I hope y’all don’t mind, but we want to try a little experiment. :rolleyes1 Like we said in our OP, we’ve been working on our own set of cabin door magnets. We’re going to share the better ones on the main “Cruise Magnet” thread, but not until we’ve debuted them ourselves in July. That having been said, we also need to figure out how to post images on the boards. So, here is a teaser of a couple versions of one of our “Mickeys” that we want to share with everyone on the thread. We thought it would be cool to have a unique “DIS Boards” Mickey for the cruise and you can only get this one here.

Just click on the thumbnails below, and they will take you to Photobucket, where you can download the full size image. Use them or change them as you please. Let us know what you think.

Yah, the magnet thing has gotten to be quite an addiction in our house. Its just way too much fun. I think fourteen sounds like a good limit… Well... Maybe for the first day.:rotfl: We'll probably have a few that stay up the whole cruise, but we’ll be swapping the rest in and out across the week (depending on just how many, too many we make). I’m sure there will be at least a couple new ones each day.

We go to Phila next week to see the surgeon that did the original surgery several years ago to make sure this new growth is just a fatty tumor and nothing more. If it is a fatty tumor, then there will be another surgery the following week to remove it and then we would be cleared for our cruise. So it is wait and see (and pray).

Again I am so thankful that people are not upset with me for not following through on the list...and I was amazed that we are up to page 14....(I haven't been able to get on the boards for weeks and weeks..) Hopefully, I'll have time to go back and read the past posts....

There is now absolute science to DCL Upgrades, but generally, if you already have a cabin number assigned to your reservation, they are not likely to change it. The Folks who booked GTY rooms find out where they are going to be somewhere between 45 and 30 days before sailing (we got our assignment right at 45 days). If they need to move some groups around to fill the ship at this point, then DCL is likely to contact you directly. If you reserved a specific room with your original reservation, you’re less likely to be upgraded, but there are always exceptions. It really comes down to whether or not DCL needs your cabin to fill the boat and fit everyone aboard.

Here’s a little pixy dust just in case :tink: (Good Luck)

I was wondering if we should have a deadline for joining the exchange? :confused3I don't want to leave people out but I will also be ordering some stuff from oriental traders and will need at least 2 weeks for delivery. I am proposing June 20? Does that sound too harsh? It would give us 3 weeks to get our stuff together. What does everyone else think? I admit sometimes I can be a bit of an overplanner, (we only booked this cruise the day it came out)!

I like the idea of a cutoff so I can get my bags together. 20th sounds good to me. :)

June 20th sounds very reasonable to us as well. We’ll add a note to the F/E list the next time it’s republished (probably latter tonight). Actually, we sent out PMs to all the other DIS members that have been following the thread and we hope to here back from those folks soon.

I really can relate to this, Special K's Mom! I teach third grade and let's just say the natives are getting restless! Not to mention that much as I love these kids, some days I get a little weary of hearing my name repeated upteen times a day by 19-20 little voices- lol!

LOL! I get called by the teachers' names alot instead of Mom! My DD will "officially" be a 3rd grader tomorrow afternoon!! And DS is headed to Kindergarten.....God Bless the teachers!!! :rotfl:

Please put both cabins on FE list

Only a day and 1/2 left with my fourth graders.... I'm retiring after teaching 34 and 1/2 years (31 of them in the same town)....such mixed feelings. I've been teaching seven years with a teacher that I taught as a fourth grader. I've had the daughter of a woman I also taught in fourth grade. It is time to retire......Now comes the job of packing up and giving away 34 years of materials...
This cruise is my retirement present to my family for always sharing me and my time with my students over the years...

We’re still trying to contact as many families as possible to include them on the FE & Members list. Tried sending PMs on Monday, but don’t know if that method is working:confused3, so we’re going to post several messages direct to the other groups on the thread, so you may see what looks like the same message posted over and over. Our apologies up front for cluttering up the thread:rolleyes1, but we want to include as many families as possible.
Thanks for you patience.

A boy, depending on his mood, he doesn't mind girls.

Howdy!!:goodvibes We’re working on the “DIS Members List” for the July 11 cruise aboard the Magic. We really want to include everyone that wants to be part of a DIS meet or the F/E exchange. Tried sending a private message, but just in case that e-mail doesn’t get through; we’re posting one directly to the thread.

If you are still planning to sail with us on the 11th, we’d love to add your group to our members list. If you’re interested, just let us know the as much of the following info as you want to share: cabin/stateroom number, first names of all the folks in the group; how many kids and their ages, and if you are or aren’t participating in the F/E Exchange.

Looking forward to hearing from you and meeting the whole crew on the Magic!:woohoo:

Hey everyone. More Texas people coming your way! We just booked last week, so I have not had time to even think about reservations for Palo or excursions. It will be me, DH, DS(9) and DD(6), who actually turns 7 on July 11. If you see a little blond with curls and a birthday crown on, that's us! Any recommendations on what night to NOT book Palo? My DH's birthday is on July 13, so I was thinking about that, but I don't want to miss something good. :cool1:

Jeff

We will also be on this cruise. This will be our third Disney cruise but the first out of Port Canaveral. We have done the Mexican Rivera both times the Magic was on the west coast. We are really excited about this cruise and going to Castaway Cay. We are trying to keep it a secret from our DS 9 and DD 5. We will be spending time at WDW before the cruise and they think we are going home on the 11th. We can't wait to see their faces when we board the Disney Cruise transportation instead of ME. :yay: :yay: :yay:

This concludes our test of the DIS Boards communication network. ;) The previous 10 posts were part of our ongoing efforts to bring Disney fanatics together and get us all the help we need (like getting to know even more koo-koos like ourselves). Had this been an actual emergency,:scared1: you would have been advised to take two aspirin and watch your favorite Disney flick.:rotfl: This has only been a test (and hopefully, we’ll pick up more members for the F/E and DIS-meet list).

Thanks again for your continued and enduring patience.:rolleyes1

We saw where you were interested, but just didn’t have a confirmation and all the little details. See you’re sailing in cabin 5020, we stayed in 5520 (the mirror image) on the Wonder. If the layout is the same (and it should be) that’s a secret porthole room. Those are a good deal and we loved our time there.:thumbsup2 Looking forward to meeting you on the Magic.

Anyone planning the Four Elements excursion in Cozumel? We've (DH, DW, DS-12 and DS-10) booked it thinking it should be a lot of fun and offer a little variety. If you've been before or planning to go this trip I would like to hear your thoughts or comments..........please.
