I heard that you can't book your wedding and honeymoon hotel nights until you get your wedding coordinator (p.s. I am getting married at the wedding pavilion)

Is this true?

You won't be able to book under the discounted rates .. such as from the room block that you build..! We waited until we did all of that that way we have our discounts on the rooms. HTH!

If you're talking about an Escape wedding, then you actually can't sign your contract until you book your hotel room.

If you're doing a Wishes wedding, you can always book your hotel now and then change the reservation to one with the discounted rate later when you set up your room block. This is what we did - it's very easy! :thumbsup2

Oh that's great to know! I'd like to book now, but was afraid I'd get yelled at for not waiting for the coordinator! Thank you.

I just made a regular reservation by phoning the regular WDW hotline like a civilian would. :cutie: I think maybe I applied the AAA discount. Then, after my room block was set up, I called the special groups reservation number and they cancelled my original ressie and rebooked me with the wedding discount. THEN I called back when AP rates came out to see if I could get an even better deal, but it turned out that my wedding discount was better than the AP rate, so I kept that reservation. ;)

We're having a wishes wedding and never booked a room pre-signing. We signed the contract in February 2008 for a January 2009 wedding. All they needed was a deposit and the contract.

I had read here that you had to have a room booked pre-signing but no one from Disney ever mentioned it. It may have been because we were 11 months out or for some other reason, but you might not have to book a room first.

You're only required to book a room before signing the contract for an Escape Wedding. :thumbsup2

Does anyone know when I will get a wedding coordinator?? Is that also pending my signed contract?

After you sign your contract you coordinator will send the copy back typically with your ap's! It takes about a week and a half or so to get contacted by your planner! HTH!
