I think we have changed the dates of our 2009 trip a million times already!!:scared1: I'm still getting used to my public school job schedule.
Anyways, we are now looking into July, because i will be on work vacation and it will be our anniversary so it will go nicely with the Celebrations Promotion theme.
We have never stayed at the S/D and are considering it because I LOVE the BW area & we can't afford the WDW BW area resorts. We were going to go value or mod, but I'm wondering if we can afford the S/D with the teacher discount rates.
Can someone tell me the average rates of the S/D during July with a teacher discount?
Thanks!:goodvibes

Call the S/D directly - they will transfer you to their internal (hotel) reservation people. Ask for the teacher rate and bring proof when you arrive - such as a school paycheck or ID card.
We have had room rates as low as $209 and $289 - still a good deal for a deluxe resort with early/late park hour privilages, WDW boat and bus service and a wonderful location in WDW.
AAA rates are also very similar to teacher rates.
You could also join Starwood (parent hotel company) and become a Starwood member to earn points on your stay and maybe get a room category bump up. www.starwood.com
You will love the S/D ! :thumbsup2

Thanks! Were your rates $209-$289 in July? I was hoping for $150-$170-ish rates because I heard with the teachers discount, they were comparable to WDW moderate hotel prices. Still, I think we can swing $209-ish.
We are very excited about the S/D and they look like wonderful resorts! We went back and forth about the WDW resort vs non, but we LOVE the BW area & I'm also curious to try the Heavenly Beds I've heard so much about!
Are they polite and helpful on the phone if I just call for info? It's too early for us to book now for July & we havent yet narrowed down an exact date. I'm just trying to plan and work out the budget right now & am planning to book around January.
Thanks!

My boss and his wife (a teacher) stayed this past July at the Dolphin for $129.00. I wish I could get that rate!

Special rates for teachers that are offered throughout the year. I've heard that they are often comparable to the price of WDW moderate resorts. I work in a public school now, so I thought I would try to take advantage of these rates, and the S/D look like very nice resorts!

Ooh, now thats the price I am looking for!!:cool1: Maybe I'll try Dreams Unlimited. I've never gone through a travel agency before-are there extra fees involved rather than booking directly?
