Halloween Disneyland Trip!
Day One:
Hey everyone! !
I'm always on the DIS during my design history class (which I was in right when i wrote this!!) and I thought I'd take the time to talk about our trip. To start off with, we flew to Anaheim, which was a breeeeeze. It was very easy to get shuttles to our hotel (Desert Inn & Suites). We did not make ANY reservations for shuttles and just showed up to get a ride. We had 9 people and SNA Shuttle took us in two separate vans (4 & 5 people in each) and charged us $45 a van. Not too bad.
When we got to Desert Inn & Suites, we checked in. I booked a 2 parlor suite that fits 8 people (we put 10 in our room). I've stayed at this hotel before and thought it was just fine even though PLENTY of people have complained about it here on the DIS. I was happy about the rooms because they were VERY clean, re-decorated with a nice back splash of mocha on an accent wall. The bedding was also very pretty :) It looked very autumn-ish.
We had Vons send groceries to our hotel on the same day (which was very easy to do !! you can check it out here : http://shop.safeway.com/superstore/default.asp?brandid=2&page=corphome) I had scheduled to get our delivery sent between 1 & 3pm and it arrived around 2:30. What I was bummed about was that they did NOT send any of the groceries that were needed to be refrigerated. In order to get your groceries delivered you needed to spend at least $50. I ordered 3 cases of water (24 in each), one 12 pack of coke, one 6 pack of diet Pepsi, 2 bags of lays chips, 2 bags of beef jerkey, 1 box of granola bars, a jug of orange juice, a package of breakfast hotpockets, and a package of jimmy dean breakfast biscuits. Those last 4 items did not come which didn't bother me much because I was just adding more things on the list so I could spend up to $50, so I called Vons and told them that some of my items didn't get sent. They were very nice about it and apologized. They took those items off of my visa (it took the next day for them to take it off).
I was really stoked about the people going on this trip because I'm very close to all of them separately and knew that they would all get a long (which they did :))
When we got to DL we were already heading towards a speed bump. When Shyboy72 and his sisters bought they’re tickets, they did not get activation receipts from the Disney Store. He was going back and forth on the phone then to the store in Oakridge trying to figure everything out. They said that we should go to guest services at the park to get it settled, so that is the first thing we did. When we first got there, the CM who first helped us said we would have to go back to the store to get it settled. We were furious. We live like 6 hours away. There is NO way that is happening. Ironically, 3 other families were waiting in line for the same issue. They bought their tickets at Disney stores as well. They managed to work everything out for us, but the family who was from Arizona had to buy NEW tickets and get their other tickets taken care of by the store they bought them from. It was RIDICULOUS. They said there is nothing they can do about it because the stores are run separately.
After all that, we finally got in the park! We headed straight for Indie since it was already 10 and Fantasyland was out of the question. The wait for Indie was 15 minutes !!! AMAZING ! I was so surprised since it was already 10 am on Friday and the wait times were so good. We got on Indie, Pirates, HMH, and Splash before heading to eat some gumbo at 12:30pm. Once we were done we headed towards Main Street. On the way there we went on the Jungle Cruise and went straight to Buzz ! That was pretty much a walk on. It was so fun. I kicked everyone’s butt.

Before heading back to go to the hotel we rode Space (20 minute wait) and the Train. Shyboy72 & I had to get our pictures taken and our APs. We got there around 2 and only had to wait about 5 minutes to get it done ! WOOO ! We were waiting for some people in our group to get out of the Emporium before walking back to the hotel. When we got to the lobby we got our food from Vons minus the refrigerated foods and got settled.

Because it would take long for Kaycee & I to get all the makeup done we started right away. We still ended up behind on getting ready.

While walking toward the gates we got stopped by a woman asking if she could take a picture of us. OF COURSE we said yes !! It was so cool! We got to the turnstyles and quickly were let in. The mood was so great because there were people dancing in front of the HUGE candy corn ! We went straight towards Monster’s and starting collecting candy. Throughout the night we stopped a couple of places for treats (not a lot). Even though people from the first MTOTP said the lines were not long, they were for our night. It was PACKED. Of course it was though because the event was sold out.
We did not have to wait long for TOT which was great or for Monster’s. TSMM was a completely different story. The line wait said 30 minutes, but it was pretty much an hour. It was fine though because TheAXIOM dressed up as Barrel ‘broke necks’ as we say. People were taking double takes and kept saying how cool he looked. It was great !

We were getting realllly hungry during the party because we did not eat dinner yet. My younger sister-in-law wanted to get corn dogs so we went and tried to get some but it was CLOSED. We ended up getting slices of pizza at Pizza Oom Mow Mow. They were pretty big. I had the barbeque chicken. It was pretty good. I’m a waitress at a family owned pizza restaurant and I happen to believe that it is the best pizza on earth, so I’m picky on my pizza. They had a pizza called ‘Bodacious Sausage’ but I read it as bodalicious haha! Like a hybrid of bootylicious and bodacious; so hilarious!

At the end of the night, disneyL0VE, my cousin-in-law and I took pictures for the rest of the night!

Nice TR! I look forward to more! Did you say the dates? Was your TOT party on October 10th? That's the day we left. The parks were so empty that morning, but had been busy all week. I figured everyone was sleeping in for the party.

:welcome: back wazowskiLOVER:)! Glad you had a great trip! You look so happy to be in the park in all of your photos. You have a beautiful smile, BTW.
We have always stayed at the Desert Inn and enjoyed it. My DS-17 says it's part of the tradition to be there and would probably never speak to me again if I booked us anywhere else. I am glad to hear that they have done some redecorating. Were the bedspreads new? They have had the same ones forever!
Also, when you had your grocery delivery made from Von's were you there for the delivery? I read somewhere that DI would accept deliveries for you but I am just a bit worried about doing that. :scared: It would be just my luck they decide I have to be present and not leave them. We we be arriving 30 minutes after Von's 2 hour delivery window begins. It would be nice to book it for 30 minutes before we arrive if they could leave it instead of having to wait for the next 2 hour window. Ugh! I hate making such decisions!

Well, you KNOW I want to hear more, more, more!!! And see more pictures! These photos really show all the fun you guys were having!
Oh, and by the way, I have ordered from Vons for probably the last 4 years, and 85% of the time, I have problems with them like that, where they bring my items to someone else's house, or numerous other issues much worse. Sometimes the customer service is horrible, sometimes it is okay. I am so exasperated with them but the only other viable option is Albertsons and their sales are not always as good so I am stuck with my horrible Vons (it may just be my area of town there the drivers and store personnel are all backwards, but maybe they are better in other areas of California).
And Mariezp is right - you do have a very lovely smile/face! You are a beautiful girl, and you look like a very happy one too!

No I totally forgot! We were there from the 10th-12th! I know what you mean about it being empty during the day. I was surprised that even though we go started in the park at around 10, we got to do so many things !

Thanks Marie :) Thats so sweet of you to say ! The last time we were at Desert Inn was in January, so i guess thats kind of recent. They looked different to me!
I talked to the people at Desert Inn and they had said all that Vons needs is the name under the reservation and they will hold it in the lobby for you. They even said that they would hold the refrigerated groceries in a refrigerator, but that didn't happen anyway. So you can be wherever you want while they deliver to the hotel ! The only down side is you have to spend at least $50. I have to say though, for the amount of people we had (11), the cases of water REALLY saved us money because we're all big water drinkers and that would have been expensive at the parks!

You know, I wasn't TOO disappointed. The only things I really wanted were the water, sodas, chips and beef jerky and I got all of those! I'm still in the process of doing the other days! I promise I'll get to them ;)

I don't think many of us find TR's annoying over here! If anything, we all usually want more details, more pictures (I might be able to post some in just a few days - yay!), more report. I think, in a way, we all live vicariously through the other person's TR. We can pretend we are going on the trip too, and visiting DLR all over again (even if we just had our own trips), and we can all relate to the jubilation and disappointments that can occur during a DLR trip too, so we all feel in the same boat in some way.
I am glad you were okay with the Von's goof. I guess they delivered your missing items to someone else (a common occurrence) unless they were just out of stock. I have heard much better stories about them in Anaheim and other areas of California. Mine just sucks though. As I said, literally 85% of the time, they have messed up my order in some way over the last 4 years and they can't seem to improve. I am a big water drinker too - that and black coffee are pretty much all I drink all the time UNLESS I am at DLR, when I will splurge and drink soda sometimes. I guzzle water all day long, every day. Three weeks ago, I had a 4-hour window for delivery, so I had to stay home that whole time. They NEVER SHOWED UP AT ALL. I was totally out of drinkable water (my tap water is yucky) and expecting my cases of Arrowhead 24-pack. After much confusion and lame excuses, they agreed to deliver within a two hour window the next day, so I had to stay home again. Two hours came and went. No Vons delivery. They insisted they would credit my card for the delivery fee only, but they applied it to my Vons account, assuming I would be ordering from their stupid store ever again! I called and abandoned the polite, calm, tactful Sherry and started getting MAD. Finally, they gave me my delivery fee back to my card - more than TWO WEEKS LATER - but I will never get the six hours of my life I wasted waiting for them back!!!
But is always a pleasant surprise when a hot delivery guy shows up with my stuff;)

Some tats are really sexy. (Remember, I used to work for that band back in the '80s and was surrounded by all kinds of people with tats on the Strip and I got used to them!) Sometimes people go overboard with them. I am not really into the guys who cover their entire bodies and neck and all that with tattoos, even though it is interesting to look at. I almost feel like saying, "What are you hiding?" But the right number of tattoos in the right locations can be very hot for a guy!
Most of my Vons delivery guys are not that hot, though. I have seen cuter guys delivering for Dominos! (I know Dominos is a bad word because you work in the place that serves the most awesome pizza - I wish I could try it! I LOVE good pizza! Dominos is basically cardboard with some sauce!)

I agree about tats, I think i'm just a bit obsessed with tattoos though right now :) I can't help it !

Yeah, my friend Shawn (who you saw pictures of in the granny hat) is on a tattoo tear right now too. She started with one years ago, and all of a sudden, in the last year alone, I think she has gotten like three more! I think it is interesting when you know someone who has a tattoo for years and years, then you lose touch with them, see them again, and that old tattoo has been completely covered up with a new one. It is amazing how the artists can totally obliterate the old tattoo and make it into an all new one! That is talent!

(BTW, I hand painted our shirts and am IN LOVE WITH THEM!)
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/family-69.jpg

After, we went on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. The line wasn’t too long; it was about 30 minutes.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/family-7-2.jpg
After, we checked in for our priority seating at BB. We had PS at 11:50 and we checked in at 11:15. When I first got there, everyone was gathered in the lobby because they had just first opened. I talked to the hostess and apparently my PS was on the 13th. I asked if we could have a PARTY OF 13 not having the PS on the 13th. We were leaving on the 12th so there was NO way that would work out (it was the 11th on Saturday). We had already been through SO many speed bumps at this point and I was NOT in the mood for more. At first she said that she could get us in but we would have to be split in a table of 6 and a table of 5 (two people backed out on the trip). After seeing our faces and how upset we were, they fit us all in.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/family-34.jpg
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/family-37.jpg
Most of my family had never eaten at BB, so it was a new experience for some of them :) I have pictures of the various food we ate, but I’m planning on posting it on the sticky for dining reviews ! Our waiter’s name was Kevin and he was awesome ! He really took care of us and I was so glad after almost having our PS not happening.
After lunch we headed towards DCA because the people who didn’t go to MTOTP didn’t get to enjoy the park. Before we left we went on Jungle Cruise. We ended up taking A LOT of stops because stragglers kept looking in stores for stuff. It was getting people frustrated but it was understandable because they had never been there before and were just soo excited to be there. We went straight to TOT. The line was 30 minutes. It was a lot shorter at MTOTP but it was fine because we always have fun in line !
(tickle fight!)

we're so INTENSE! (in-tents.. get it? ;))
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/ride.jpg
After, we went to Screamin’ & the Orange Stinger. It was WAYYY to long of a wait for TSMM! By this time EVERYONE was exhausted to so we said ‘time to split up and do what you want to do’ so I stayed back and shopped with the youngins while the parents went back to rest. I finally got my ears !! I’ve never owned a pair and it was pretty exciting.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/family-18-2.jpg
We finally got to the hotel around 4 and rested for about an hour and a half. It definitely wasn’t enough rest, but there were so many things we still wanted to see while we were there! We had Mc Donald’s for dinner just because its fast & cheap (ICK) and then headed towards DL. We went to Tomorrowland and waited about 35 minutes for Star Tours, then we went to Autopia and waited about 25 minutes. It was kind of busy that night! We tried to see how long Nemo was, but that was TOTALLY out of the question!
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/family-19-2.jpg
We all decided to wait for the Matterhorn. The wait was about 45 minutes, but it was too fun in line because we were all so tired that we were getting giddy and took ridiculous pictures. My fiancée and my cousin were taking pictures at the same time on purpose to get us in silly faces so I made obvious faces the whole time !! HAHA!

After we watched the fireworks! I was sooo excited for this because I brought my Nikon and tripod. We sat at the Rivers of America. disneyL0VE and TheAXIOM bought tigger tails while we kept their place. It was fun to eat while walking after the fireworks. Since we were already in New Orleans Square we went on Pirates again (it was the shortest line there!). While on Pirates everyone was falling asleep on the boat. Most of them left for the hotel while TheAXIOM, my younger sister-inlaw, mom, uncle and I stayed back until closing. We went on HMH again… SOOOOOO fun! Then walked back towards Main Street and took pictures along the way! That was fun for me ;) That was the end of day two !!

The weather was PERFECT. It was an average of 74 degrees all three days. It did get kind of chilly on Saturday night, but it was fine just wearing a sweater.
It was actually pretty nice on Friday and relatively nice on Saturday. Sunday it was RIDICULOUS !!!! It took us like 35 minutes to walk from New Orleans Square to Toontown.

Day Three:
The final stretch !! I’ve been so damn busy in the past week (pardon my French!). Shyboy72 was in the emergency room today because he is not feeling well, so give him some pixie dust.
On our last day, I tried to get everyone to wake up early and we did a pretty good job because we were up and packed away out of our hotel rooms before the elders did ! We hung out in the patio area where people eat the continental breakfast until they were ready. We took pictures too :)

I knew we had to head for DCA to get on TSMM so that the people who didn’t get a chance to ride it got to. We were there about 20 minutes before official opening of the park and got in the queue for TSMM that wrapped around toward GRR. We took pictures here too haha :)

It was a funny experience because we were in front of Mr. Potato Head for a good amount of time and he singled out TheAXIOM .. “hey you with the plaid!” It was fun ;) After, we went straight for California Screamin. Both were about a 15 min wait. SOOO worth it! Then we headed towards TOT and got on that twice in a row because the first time it didn’t take our picture HAHA!

To end DCA, we went on Monster’s (my fave).
Then we decked it for DL, but stopped to take a family photo at the traditional spot. Once that was done we passed all our park hoppers to TheAXIOM and he ran straight to Indie (which ended up being closed). We got in line for Nemo because we knew that would take a while. TheAXIOM went to Space Mountain but we would be done with the park by the time we could use the FPs. So I directed him to Roger Rabbit because the newbies HAD to go on that. The parents + Shyboy72 hung out and ate some burgers in Tomorrowland while we waited in line for like 45 minutes. We ate some frozen treats and french fries in line. We also took some funny videos that disneyL0VE uploaded on youtube.

After, we went to ToonTown. BTW, it was CRAZY PACKED on Sunday the 12th. I didn’t want to believe that Columbus Day would affect our trip, but let me tell you, IT DID. Once we got there, Roger was not running, but they said we could use our FPs any time in the day. It was kind of hot outside and kind of frustratingly packed. There was only one other ride I could think of that we should go on, so we headed toward Critter Country to go on Winnie the Pooh. We stopped at Big Thunder on the way there. Before going towards Critter Country we munched down on some Turkey legs and Corn Dogs.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/food-11.jpg
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/food-12.jpg
Pooh was interesting because it was about a 20 minute wait. I’ve never been around for that! Everyone was pretty beat and disneyL0VE & TheAXIOM’s dad (my uncle) was already at DTD waiting for them. We were SOOO pressed for time. It was crazy ! After, we decked it for ToonTown to try one more time before heading out of the park. It took us like 30 minutes to get from Critter Country to ToonTown. It was CRAAAZY BUSINESSS!
We got on the ride, which was fun ! It was soo funny to hear Eeyore say “I can return it if you don’t want it.” Then left the park to do our shopping, but not before I got some shots of Disney Magic. I’m a graphic designer, so placing images on to layouts is a piece of cake and I did not want to try and use what the photopass people were using. So I made my own!

We shopped at the World of Disney for our souvenirs/gifts. I loooove the Villian hands in the store! They are too cool for school :)
After, we went to Denny’s for some dinner. I was so tired, I was falling asleep while chewing my food. We did SOOO much the whole weekend and I was beat.
The Shuttle Van guy was waiting for us while we were paying for our meal. We parted with my cousins the DISers and headed for SNA. While hanging out in the airport, my dad, uncle, two cousins, and fiancée went for the bar to wind down. My mom, fiancee’s sisters, and I relaxed at a nearby gate and reminisced about the weekend. On Saturday night I lost my voice and sounded like a 75 year old chain smoker. It was ridiculously funny. Everyone was laughing at me and yelling out my name because I sounded silly. My quote for the day was “I need a lozenge” which I stole off of Sean a CM running our service elevator on TOT. He was the BEST.
About 30 minutes before boarding, we got in a tired/giggly mood and we were cracking up about EVERYTHING. The other passengers waiting in the terminal were staring at us like we were crazy, and I wouldn’t blame them! The flight attendant checking us in said, “wow, I wanna go with you guys wherever you’re going!”
We all were tired/sleeping on the plane, then headed in our separate ways back to reality.
I had a ton of fun, and I know they did too! I looooved this year’s Halloween experience and I hope they think about getting together again for another magical Disney Adventure

Hey Guys !!!
I figure I would just use this thread for all my TRs include my PTRs. I am planning another trip on the last weekend before they take the decorations down for Christmas (somewhere between the 2nd and the 6th; I'm not exactly sure yet !)
I'm just going to post some pictures and info of our last trip this last January for reference for this one coming up! I am finding that I like doing TRs and I am too antsy to wait for another one to pass to post some stuff. So here we go !
I really want to go again during the holiday decor because I really do believe there is this whole different type of magic that goes on when being at DLR during the festivities. When we went this past time in January it was to enjoy DLR as a family and to celebrate my cousin disneyL0VE's birthday :).
On our past trip the group was comprised of our DIS regulars: me, Shyboy72, TheAXIOM, and disneyL0VE. We also had my parents and my other cousin who is a Disney addict as well. (For the record, almost everyone on my father's side are Disney addicts; we were spoon fed on Disney magic and thats probably why we do things 300% !!) We went on the last weekend that the decor was up (Friday January 4th - Sunday January 6th) for our January trip. My parents, Shyboy72, and I had NEVER seen the holiday decor before and were excited to check it out because we are Christmas LOVERS. We put our decorations up in our house the day after Thanksgiving and most of the time buy our tree on the same day. This has proven to be a mistake year after year because our tree starts feeling like it could slice you up into pieces by touching it by mid December.
To begin with, before going on the trip I wanted to make it special by making shirts (which is the image in my siggie). This turned out to be an accidental success because the white paint my cousin and I were using to paint the shirts was stale and washed off in the washer. What was left ended up looking vintage. Thank god it didn’t completely clean off. What was pretty funny about our trip in October was my dad wore that shirt on our last day and someone asked where they could buy it, and my dad bragged and said I did it :) He’s so funny! Also, when preparing for our trip, I wanted to make hoodie blankets (my mom’s idea ;) ) So I bought Disney fabric and fleece and sewed away ! I ended up giving those away for Christmas for the people who were going on the trip. disneyL0VE made hers and her brothers! We used them on Saturday night when we watched the Christmas fireworks :)
This is a close up of the shirt from our trip (TheAXIOM w/ Princess Jasmine at Goofy's Kitchen)

If you look, it could be viewed as a skull and crossbones, but its really mickey floating down with a parachute. I have to be honest and say that I 'stole' the idea from a Disney Couture cashmere sweater that I would NEVER pay for because hundreds of dollars on a sweater is ridiculous to me!
This is us with our blankets !!

Starting from the left, my fiancee's (Shyboy72) is the red one which is Lightning McQueen Fabric. The next is my cousin's, which was Dory & Nemo fabric. The next is my mom's which is Mickey fabric lined with yellow fleece and my dads was the same but lined with red fleece. The next is TheAXIOM with a vintage Mickey pattern. Then of course disneyL0VE with a tan Mater. Lastly me with pink fabric with a vintage Mickey pattern on it.
Working on these built up my anticipation of going on our trip !!! It was a lot of fun too :)
Okay, so now on to our first day at DLR. Shyboy72, my cousin, my parents and I flew together to SNA on friday morning. We took the same flight we took this past October and got to Desert Inn & Suites at around 8:30. We met disneyL0VE & TheAXIOM at the hotel because they flew the day before and their dad dropped them off at the hotel. We put our luggage into the locker at Dessert Inn & Suites and went DIRECTLY to the turnstiles at DL. After taking a few pictures, we went straight for Adventureland.

We went on Indie, POTC, HM, Splash, and BTMRR all before lunch. We pretty much walked on EVERYTHING. It was amazing. I made PS at Cafe Orleans and we LOVED it. I had ratatouille (which I LOOOVE because now I make it at home). We then rested and got settled in to our 2 room suite until late afternoon. We rested a lot on our trip because the park was NOT packed a all.

I took the disney fabric and lined them with fleece. I left the top section open so I could attach the hood. I made a D shape of the fabric to make the hood and sewed two separate D shapes along the curve and flipped them inside out. Thats how I did the hood :)
My mom said 'why don't you put hoods on the blankets?' and I thought about it and said ' YESSS. Thats a great idea!'
I ended up looking at tutorials online on how to make hoods to help me ;)

Wooo Hoo !!!
After we rested and ate dinner we headed straight to DCA. We were constantly checking the weather on disneyL0VE's phone because it said there was a slight chance of rain that night. 'Slight' was an understatement. By my mom's suggestion we went and bought some ponchos at the gift shop in the hotel and headed out. It already started raining by the time we got across Harbor. It was fine with us though because it meant LESS people.

Jasmine, at least you guys are a fun bunch of people who don't mind posing in ponchos in wet weather! (Even though I think you guys all look cute!) When we went last year in late September, it poured rain on us, and I TRIED - Lord knows I tried - to keep a good attitude and I wanted to snap pictures of all of us in our ridiculous ponchos (ours really looked bad on us). My friends REFUSED to play along. It's like, why are you holding on to vanity at this stage of the game? We just got caught in a monsoon and we are soaking wet. We ALL look terrible. Let's have a laugh and take some pictures. But they would not do it. I am ALL about taking goofy pictures - I always have been. Not my friends - they used to when we were younger, but now I guess they think they are too 'mature' for such nonsense! And, they wouldn't move when it was pouring really heavily, either. They just sat down on a bench and planted themselves until the rain lightened up a bit. That is why I TRY to avoid rainy days now, if I know I am going to be with friends. We won't get anything done and we won't be able to take pictures! Grrrr.....

Al the kids on Main Street were laughing and smiling and all the couples were holding each other and kissing. I could feel so much love on Main Street. Its almost as if nothing else existed in the whole world.

I guess you're just gonna have to meet up with us because (proof by all the goofy shots) we loooove to cheese it up for the camera no matter what the situation !!!
I think it helps that we are college age right now haha !!
The rain really was a damper though ! We had to wash all our clothes when we got back to the hotel. We also had to dry our shoes because most of us only brought one pair. It was crazzzzy ! Nice! "Walk on..." Music to my ears! I'm going to have to get me one of those blankcoats. ;)
I have one of those blankets that are half blanket half protected stuff so that if you lay it on wet grass it doesn't get wet through the blanket.. it's really great because the protected part also protects from wind like the best windbreaker ever. I use it at soccer games and I live in cold, wet country so it's perfect! It's thick and it folds into an over the shoulder tote. :yay:
Hey, did you notice that guy in the back middle (on the left but in the middle) of the ToT ride? He looks like the same guy that's with you in the back of SM :confused3 at least the shirt looks the same. Is he with you or is he stalking?? :scared1:

Thanks :) That probably would have been perfect for the night it rained ! I know what you mean about those blankets. They really are a life saver.
I didn't notice him until you pointed him out !! How creeeeeepy :scared1:
HAHA !!! He's TOTALLY not with our group, that is too weird!

Aww !! That is too bad :(
I guess you're just gonna have to meet up with us because (proof by all the goofy shots) we loooove to cheese it up for the camera no matter what the situation !!!
I think it helps that we are college age right now haha !!
The rain really was a damper though ! We had to wash all our clothes when we got back to the hotel. We also had to dry our shoes because most of us only brought one pair. It was crazzzzy ! I've never been through so much rain at DLR in my whole life ! If you look closely at the picture of us on Main Street, my jacket is DRENCHED !
At some point, I most definitely AM going to have to meet up with you and Kaycee and the gang! You all look like you're a lot of fun!
I think certain people I know tend to behave like, 'Okay, now we are a certain age so we have to act super-mature.' Well, that is true in some situations, but at DLR, everyone should let out their inner child and just PLAY!:) I have to admit that one of the very important reasons I thought trying PhotoPass would be good this past trip is because I knew that they have the guests pose in silly ways and do goofy stuff. Now, if I tried to get my friends to look silly in pictures, they would have done it once upon a time, but today they would throw me over the railing in Paradise Pier! However, when an 'official-looking' PP photographer asks them to pose, they oblige!! I knew they would! They also seem to be inclined to pose more often when the PP people are in charge. If I wanted them to stop every few minutes and pose, I would get resistance now, but they keep quiet when it is a PP person. And the more PP pictures we took, the more they warmed up to the idea and seemed to like it. So, even though I don't think a lot of the PP pictures are necessarily that much better in quality and composition than what the 'average' person could take, if it can help loosen my formerly-fun friends up and make them do silly things on camera, then I will use PP every time!;) Plus, if they only let me take a handful of pictures, then we would end up with a bunch of so-so shots where no one looked great. With PP, if you have them take a lot of pictures, inevitably some of them will come out good!
I agree about the rain. I know a lot of people on DISboards love DLR in the rain, but if you only have a limited, short trip (like the one your family just took in October or the one we took in October), rain can really mess up the plans and make people cranky - especially if it is heavy rain! I still wanted to make the best of it last year and take wacky photos of us with soaking wet hair, but just in terms of getting anything done, it was a pain. My glasses were getting streaked with raindrops and I couldn't see. I was reluctant to take out the camera because I didn't want to get it wet. My pants were soaked. And when it stopped raining momentarily, some of the rides we went on - like Pooh and something else I am forgetting - had big puddles of water in the seats that we had to plop right down on! Yuck! I don't like really bad heat (and I don't envy anyone going to DLR in a couple of days, when it is supposed to be in the UPPER '90s:scared1: ), but really heavy rain has its own set of problems if I am only in the parks for a couple of days!

Last Day !
We did not get to enjoy Fantasyland at all and figured that would be the best thing to go to in the morning right away ! Unfortunately the WHOLE weekend my dad had food poisoning and we had to be near bathrooms the whole time. Luckily I know where all of them are in the park so all I had to do was direct him to them. This morning my dad stayed back at the hotel so we could have a good time. Before heading directly to Fantasyland we got some coffee/hot chocolate and took some pictures :)

We went on all the rides in Fantasyland and headed straight to DCA to get some rides in before leaving.

We went on the Tower of Terror and California Screamin’ before going back to the hotel since we needed to check out, do our last minute shopping at DTD, and meet up with TheAXIOM and disneyL0VE’s dad so they could get picked up before heading to the airport. While we were there we did run into a couple of characters :)

Hey Wazowskilover,
Good trip reports! Thanks for posting them and the pictures. Your friends/family's expressions crack me up! You all are very expressive people; looks like you all have a real good time.
I was there last January during the same time frame and it was crazy rainy! My jeans were soaked up to the knees and our shoes were soaked too. It was freezing cold too! But every ride was a walk on so that was awesome. I can totally relate to the bummer part of the rain though, especially when only going for a short trip. I love your designs for your shirts and the blanket/hoodie. Awesome. You're very creative! You should consider selling some of those things online.

Thank you DSF !!!! Wasn't it crazy how it rained like that ? We were constantly checking disneyL0VE's phone to check & see what the weather would be like. It was nice to have little to no line at all though !

Hey guys !
So after about a couple of weeks on holding out and asking questions about Hojo's, I've finally booked our room for January 3rd - January 6th ! I booked for 3 nights and got the entertainment rate for 2 of them and then had the opportunity to use my AP discount for the first night. SOOO total for the 5 of us in the Deluxe Room with Queen beds for 3 nights its going to cost $300.38 ! So its about $60 per head for the whole weekend. That is totally a steal :) I'm completely stoked now :)
I think we have a set cast for this trip and it includes the DIS family quartet : me, Shyboy72, TheAXIOM, and disneyL0VE. Before she wasn't going to come buuuuuuuutttt of course she couldn't pass up another trip that ends on her birthday ;) I think instead of leaving in the morning on her birthday, we should wait until lunch and have a celebratory lunch/drink since it will be her 21st! The 5th person to join our extravaganza is our cousin Jesse (he is the brother of the guy from our last January trip). Its so easy to get our family mixed up because we have so many people in our family. Its just easy to say yes and agree haha.
What is pretty exciting about him is he has lost the Disney magic and hasn't really experienced much except being present at a couple of family trips without an agenda and knowing what to look for. So I'm really excited to kind of open his eyes :)
One of the things that he has never done that I want to have him enjoy is a character meal. To keep the times rollin and to try new things, we have decided to go to Minnie & Friends. I'm pretty excited about it because we'll get to take pictures with different characters this time. I'm not really HUGE on breakfast, but since it is a buffet, we're gonna get our money's worth for sure !
So I guess this is the beginning of my Pre-Trip report since it is approximately 29 days until our amazing trip !
Meet the cast :

Of course, I chose the most attractive pictures of our lovely family ;)
Our first day is to leave here from San Jose at around 4 am. I know TheAXIOM is gonna fly over here and do the roadtrip with us, I'm not sure about disneyL0VE. Once we get to the hotel, we'll check in and deck it to those magical chiming turnstiles and head straight for Indie (its kind of a tradition :))

Jasmine, you’re going to love the Hojo! Seriously. The walk is a breeze. The grounds are pretty and everything was so clean. I’m a picky girl when it comes to hotels and I was very happy. So was Jesus! He said this is going to be our regular hotel!

For this past trip I bought the toddler size backpacks because I really wanted the Buzz Lightyear one that I have ;) Unfortunately I think I'm going to have to retire it because it really isn't getting the job done right unfortunately. The reason I am saying this is because I have my tripod with me and that thing is NOT fitting in those baby backpacks. So I'm thinking its time to purchase a new one and this is what it looks like :
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/513WTMWJycL._SS400_.jpg
I'm picking grey so that just in case the guys will take their turn wearing the backpack they won't be as embarrassed as they would be if it was black and pink ;)
Its on sale on Amazon for $22.99. I think I'm going to get it!

Hello All :)
Since we will be driving, I've already came to the idea that we will buy water and snacks so we can save some major $$$. I've been thinking about it as well, and I was thinking that we could also bring food so that we won't have to keep eating out. You think that will save on some money ?
I was thinking of bringing lunch items in our bags and just worry about dinner outside. Anyone have any ideas on good cheap meals I can make/bring to the park?

I really like that backpack, it's cute! But still neutral for the boys to wear if they need to. I say get it!
We brought breakfast food this past trip and didn't really eat it. We always bring bottled water and juices to take with us. We also take small snacks, granola bars and stuff like that.
The food for us at DLR is hard to resist! But also even though we're big eaters, we could each eat a pretzel and a coke and be full for a couple hours.

I was thinking for sure on water. Juices sound like a great idea too :) I think I might have to make a list of things of things I want to buy.
I know for sure I'd like to bring some jerky and maybe fruit leather as well ! There is also a list of food that we want to try at the park so we probably won't be able to resist getting things at the park. Thanks for your opinion Courtney!

So, I bought the backpack on amazon! It totaled to $22.99 ! No shipping cost at all :) Its supposed to come between the 11th - 16th. I'm pretty excited to see what it looks like ;)
I've been planning planning planning in my head and being 24 days away, I can't help but be antsy; especially with all these wonderful TR to get me all excited about our trip.
The main thing for me is planning what I am going to buy for food for this trip. So far I know I want to pack food that we eat and sustain past lunchtime because we're all on a budget for this trip. I am planning on making food the night before with my mother (we're gonna make sandwich rolls!) we're going to bring a small cooler to keep them fresh :)
I want to go to the store and get these food items for the trip :
1. Water
2. Juice
3. Beef Jerky
4. Trail Mix
5. Fruit Leather
6. Chex Mix
7. Breakfast pockets
Other than that, we're pretty game for just checking out food we want to eat because disneyL0VE, TheAXIOM, and I have a list of food that we've been DYING to try while we are there.
The things we want to try are :
1. Bengal BBQ
2. Tinkerbell Twist
3. Minnie & Friends breakfast
I still need to get PS for Minnie & friends breakfast, but I am torn on what day to do it! I know that we want to take advantage of the park but I'm a little worried that we won't be able to get a lot done on Saturday & Sunday seeing that it is the last days of the Christmas decor and it is so close to New Years that I think people will spill over to the weekend. With that, I'm thinking of maybe getting the character breakfast done on Monday because the decor will not be there and the pace will be slower that day so we'll be able to get a lot done without having to rush to places to wait in line for a long time. I'm not sure though. Anyone have any good ideas ?
I also need to make new LGMHs because the ones I made broke and disneyL0VE's fell off on Space Mountain. The clip thingy didn't work out so well I'm hoping that in the end, they will stick and work!
In terms of the park, I know that we're planning on seeing the Aladdin musical, fantasmic, the fireworks, and taking a good amount of time in the animation theater. I really want this trip to fill my cousin with magic since he is not really a Disney fanatic (like the rest of our family is). Other than that, the only other thing I'm expecting from this trip is taking a million pictures and cracking up really hard ;)

I'm really excited about Bengal BBQ even if it doesn't look like a lot of food for so much money (isn't that how DL is anyway in terms of food?). So I'm thinking I'll bring drinks and chips when we go get food from there ;)

The chicken skewers at Bengal BBQ are particularly good. Bengal BBQ used to sell these great orange and lemon swirled sorbet thingies and stopped years ago. I loved those. Way better than Dole Whips.
You know, I think I would like to see the Aladdin show too. I hadn't given it much thought before now, and I don't know why, but I think it would be pretty good. The only thing is that I don't know where I am going to squeeze it in on this upcoming trip. We are getting there late on Friday the 19th, and not going into the parks that night, as far as I know (subject to change). We will probably eat and go listen to the carolers in the GCH with our cocoa. The next day, other friends are joining us and I don't think they would be down with the Aladdin show. The following day, my friend can't stay too long at DLR but I think she would like Aladdin too. I would want to squeeze it in while she is still with me, but I don't know if we can pull it off. There is just never enough time to do everything! You really do need like a good block of several days in the parks to be able to get to everything!
Anyway, if you end up seeing Aladdin and I miss it, make sure to let me know how it is!!!:goodvibes

I am hoping to see it! I should probably get into this ordeal over in my own TR thread rather than hogging up space in Jasmine's thread, but our scheduling for this trip next week at DLR is going to be slightly different than it usually is when we go, and I am not thrilled about it. See, normally one friend and I get to DLR first on day one and have a whole day and evening to do whatever in the parks we want and then the second day is usually devoted to other friends coming to join us. Now, when we have several people joining us, we usually just end up eating and going on a couple of rides, taking a few pictures and then the day is already over because we spend a lot of time chatting and catching up in between eating and rides. It is usually pretty chaotic because we never know exactly when the other people are joining up with us or where they will want to eat, what they will want to do, and it just seems like that 'second day schedule' is reserved for visiting with the other friends and chatting, and not doing too many activities - especially if they only show up for a few hours. And then the third day - if there is one - is usually just a few hours max spent in one of the parks (not both) before we head home. So this next time, next week, my friend and I are getting to DLR late on the first day, like closer to early evening, and my friend is not getting a 3-day Hopper. She is only getting a 2-day hopper, to be used on the next day when the other friends show up, and on the third day, for a few hours. So we will not have a whole day to ourselves to do things like the Aladdin show. We won't be able to do it on Friday, we can't do it on Saturday (those other friends joining us won't like it), most likely, and we would have to squeeze it in somewhere in just a few hours on Sunday if we saw it then. It is going to be a little tough. However, I WILL have some time on my own in the second part of the third day, and even for a few hours on the check-out day, SO I may try to catch Aladdin by myself before I leave!!!

GEEEZ ! Well that sucks! Its a shame that you have to sacrifice some things when you go there, but I totally understand. That happened the last time we went to DL. When we went in October, I knew I would not e able to see all the things we would want to because we had 2 newbies and 2 people who hadn't been there in 20 years. I knew it would slow EVERYTHING down and it did. It was a heck of a lot of slowing down to see all the little things.
This time we'll be able to speed it up a bit more.
On a side note, I am REALLLLY stoked about the gas prices right now. I just filled my tank for $17. If it keeps the way it does, we're going to save SOO much money by driving there! WOO !!!

I've been looking at the event schedule for the time that we are there and there are a few things that I want to make sure that we see; the parades. We need to see them all on Saturday & Sunday. These are the ones I want to see :
Pixar Play Parade
Main St. Electrical Parade
Fireworks
Aladdin Musical
Fantasmic
I'm hoping that we can somehow fit all of these in on Saturday & Sunday. This is always up in the air for watching the Electrical Parade & the fireworks because of the weather. Who knows if it will be cancelled. I'm really going to try and fit all these in. I'm not sure which days to do these.

Hey guys,
so what turned out to be an awful day just got a little okay. I've been dealing with a lot of stress today and crying for a ridiculous reason. It sucks dealing with life. ANYWHOOO, I got my backpack and I love it. I'm very happy with it, so anyone who wants to get it, go for it!
With my trip coming up soon and all the issues I'm dealing with right now, I feel like such a selfish person to be spending money on this trip when it could be going to my education. I really need to get my butt into gear and find a better job to pay for school.
Geez, I'm sorry guys. I'm a downer.

Hey everyone :)
I'm updating now ! Yay.
So the issues I was having before are still there, but I have a wonderful family that is helping me out (thank god for that!).
My fiancee got this beauty for me for Christmas :
http://www.shinyshiny.tv/flip-ultra.jpg
I'm sooo stoked about it! For those who don't know, its a 60 minute Flip Video camera.
My mom also got me this (its gonna work so well for our road trip):
http://images.apple.com/ipodnano/images/features-rock20080909.jpg
Its so terrible that I know what I'm getting for Christmas but its so much easier when we tell each other what we want. My parents also bought me an adapter for my car to play the music since mine died.
Getting all these cool gadgets is making me so excited about our trip. We only have 18 more days!
I still have not made my PS for Minnie & Friends breakfast, so I need to do that soon. I'm a little side tracked this week because its finals week and I'm getting all my stuff done. Most of my finals consist of turning in work or a portfolio (I'm a graphic design major). I just can't wait to get this week done so I can get things done for our trip.
I really need to make new LGMHs !!

I've been on the DIS and we all have been discussing the same topic for the past day or so, the weather.
I can't believe the weather is like this in California. It seems ridiculous. When I go outside, there is snow in the hills; in the BAY AREA !?! Absurd! This is making me worry, and I'm not even sure I should be. Our trip isn't until the 3rd and I know I have about 16 days for the weather to clear up, but what if it doesn't. This is going to be the first time driving to DL since I was 10 and this time I'm driving it (scary), so I don't reallly know how to get there 100%.
I know that I really don't want I-5 to close down or we're pretty much hosed for the trip. I'm crossing my fingers, toes, eyes, legs, arms, etc. in hopes that everything will clear up because I've been looking forward to this trip. Its the only thing lately that has kept me excited.
With that being said, I just finished my last final yesterday and will start to plan out more of what I need to bring and lists of food to eat, places to see, and places to photograph. I also need to make a list of rides that we should go on for the sake of my cousin Jesse. I want to make sure this trip is as magical as can be. We'll see what happens though. For now, I'll part with this self portrait of myself that I did for our first project in my photography class.

Its T minus 13 days and I still am in a somewhat poopy mood. It doesn't feel like Christmas at all. I'm hoping that I get into the spirit, but I doubt I will. I'm hoping that DL will fix that for me, we'll see though.
I still haven't achieved anything in regards to my lists of things to do, but I will soon. I'm just not in the mood. BOO.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas! (and I hope the weather lightens up by the time the trip comes!)

I have been "wrapping" presents all day. Getting more and more ticked as the day continues. I hate wrapping presents and it seems my DH gets out of it every year. I am having a hard time getting completely in the spirit. Disneyland would help.:goodvibes

I officially got into the Christmas spirit today. What, you might ask, did I do to get myself into the spirit ?
BAKING !
I know, crazy right ?
I'm a HUGE baker and I usually go all out and I haven't felt like it. My mom started without me yesterday and I started today. It put me in such a better mood that when I was at work, a man came into the restaurant and said that I had the jolliest voice :goodvibes

I think its because I've had all this family around for the holidays and I can't wait for them to be over so I won't have to see them for a while. Who knows !
Right now I have things I need to be on top of to make sure I get done. So far here is my list :
1. Clean out my car/trunk & get it cleaned.
2. Get my oil changed on my car.
3. Make new LGMH badges
4. Charge up all my electronics
5. Make playlists for the car ride
6. Hook up the adapter for my ipod to my car
7. Do laundry
8. Pack
9. Buy food for the trip
I have to get all these done while my week is full of family engagements, work, and appointments I have made. Wish me good luck!

It never fails that I am overwhelmed before our trips. I look at my list of things to do and I just want to cry. It's not until I get on the road and start going that I really get into the real spirit of going. Once we are around Stockton I start feeling the excitement and I can hardly wait to get there. It's almost like I think something will stop us from going until we get on the road.

I have had that 'not that excited' thing before trips too...where I have just planned and overwhelmed myself to the point of not caring. I start thinking about how much money the whole thing is going to cost and how I shouldn't be spending it, and how I took so much time to plan everything to make it a great time for everyone and it is not being fully appreciated or recognized (which I wrote about in my TR today)...and then I start thinking about how it will be tough to accomplish so many things in such a short time, and how I am going to coordinate the PS plans with this and that and the other...and lists upon lists upon lists... and it just gets to be too much, to the point where my mind just turns to mush and I become apathetic about going to DLR for a day or two. Sometimes I need to look at old pictures of DLR trips or see a DLR commercial on TV or log on to DISBoards and read about someone else's trip to get myself back into excitement mode, but it always happens! And even if I am totally out of the mood all the way up until I get to DLR - because maybe I am peeved about somethng and preoccupied - as soon as I walk through the gates and step onto Main Street, especially if there is a humongous Christmas tree to greet me, then I am instantly in the spirit.:goodvibes During the holidays - unless it is raining or extremely hot - it doesn't take long for me to catch the spirit because the songs and aromas are in the air, the decorations are bright and colorful, the details are everywhere, the atmosphere is just, for lack of a better word, merry!
In fact, even though this trip is supposed to be a mission to restore your cousin's lost Disney spirit, I sense that everybody will have a great time!! And your fantastic photos will show what a great time you had/have!
Just remember - I didn't find the December crowds to be particularly worse than the October crowds this year...though the October crowds were probably worse than they had been in the past!! I think, if anything, you should probably benefit from a lot of people going home to prepare for work and school by the time you get to DLR. Sure, some folks may still be off of school and work, but a lot of them will have left. Just mentally prepare yourself to deal with hideous crowds and it can only be a pleasant relief and surprise from there!!:goodvibes

I know exactly what you mean Sherry. I'm definitely going to expect HUGE ridiculous crowds just so that I won't be upset about the crowds. Though I do have to admit I do like it when it is kind of crowd there to see all those happy faces all around :)
I'm a little bit excited right now because I just made a fresh batch of LGMH badges for all of us going with our names on 'em. The last time I made them, the pin backing was crappy. This time I hot glue gunned everything and made them a lot stronger so that they won't fall off during the rides !
I just took this picture right now and I got gorilla glue on my fingers so now they're sandy feeling !
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/Photo199.jpg
So that is one thing off of my list !
Sherry E
12-29-2008, 07:50 PM
Ooooh, that LGMH came out really well, even though now you have glue on your hands! So yes, that is one thing to cross off the list. I find that I start with a small thing, trying to get myself motivated, and then once I get a small thing checked off it is easier to tackle the next things on the list as I get into a groove. Unfortunately, in my case, I am usually checking everything off the To Do lists on the day I am supposed to be going to DLR, but oh well, better late than never!:lmao:

Jasmine, I forgot to ask you - assuming you saw the pictures of the Dept. 56 Halloween display in my TR, was that the same display that was in Michael's? I remember you were asking me a while back if they were the same little village pieces as the ones in Michael's but I never saw what was in Michael's!
I think it is a mistake for Dept. 56 to be leaving DTD. That store really kind of meshed well with the whole 'Disney magic' vibe. I think that DLR fans really appreciated it being there, especially during the holidays. But it was a good place to go any time of the year to get a little dose of the holidays or see cute little fairy tale cottages and things like that!

Thanks fairykin !! We always hang out with each other all the time so it helps that we're pretty close ;)! Its funny though because on our most recent trip (the one on the first page), I am close with them separately, not all together. So it was kind of a convergence of all the people I love to be around from all different parts of my huge family. By bringing them together I knew they'd all hit it off, and they did ! It was fantastic :goodvibes

UGH. I think I'm going to go back to Home Depot to get more LGMHs to start over again. I'm not sure though. I did all of my laundry and am in the process of dyeing my hair! I'm so stoked. I also cleaned out my car too. I'm really getting things together ;)

Jasmine, I am not sure if you will check this thread again because you will be swamped later today, but have a great time! I know you will go on HMH at least a couple of times anyway, but make sure you ride it as much as you can because there is a rumor going around that HMH may not return in Fall or Winter 2009 due to the Haunted Mansion's 40th anniversary celebration this year.:scared1: Therefore, you may not get to see Jack Skellington and crew again until at least Fall 2010, if not later. I wouldn't even trust DLR to bring back IASW Holiday in Winter 2009 because they may want to just focus all of 2009 on the new additions to the IASW ride and not detract from that by adding the holiday overlay. So ride IASW Holiday as much as possible too - just in case!!!
I want you to know that I have been silently trying and trying to come up with a way to squeze in a solo trip this weekend to meet up with you and Kerri and the gang. I almost thought I could pull it off but it just won't work. I didn't buy any merchandise on my DLR trip 2 weeks ago, so I didn't spend unnecessary money, but I had to pay for my friend's ticket (after her transmission blew and she had to shell out $3000) and I had to get all of my film developed afterwards., which cost a pretty penny So I could scrape up the money to get to DLR this weekend, but I would be stuck as far as getting back from DLR. I even thought of asking my friend in Anaheim if she would take me home but if she did that, she would want to drive me home at noon on Sunday, which would be silly since I would be arriving at the park at 8:00 a.m.!!! And she wouldn't be willing to come and pick me up and bring me back to DLR really early on a morning where she is not involved in the trip!! Plus, I am still getting over this cold/flu and don't want to push it. But I am sad I won't be able to meet all you guys, AND I am sad I won't get to go on HMH and IASW again - just in case they don't return in the Fall/Winter this year!! I really wanted to get more pictures in A Bug's Land and ToonTown (of all the holiday decorations and trees) too, but it is just not in the cards.
So take lots of pictures on my behalf, and you know I am going to be checking your TR early next week for the beginning of the rundown from you!!! Have a wonderful time and a safe drive. I know the family drama kind of ruined your mood, but the magic will come back when you arrive at the DLR gates. I may not have had family drama to deal with before my recent DLR trips, but the money/job crises I have had have been crippling and I have managed to have a great time anyway. So hang in there...the magic awaits you...and so does the gigantic Christmas tree on Main Street!!:goodvibes

We're going to try and get as much done as we can today before we leave, but we'll see what happens. I will definitely be posting about our experiences this weekend (including meeting all you wonderful DISers !) Hope you all had a wonderful New Year and talk to you soon !
For some reason I didn't realize you were still at DLR today. I think I assumed it was like Saturday to Monday or so. I am glad you got a little extra time than what you had in October, if I recall! Woo hoo! 580 pictures! How many memory cards is that?!!! I can't wait to see all of them!!! Happy birthday, Kaycee!!:cool1: :cool1:

Hello and welcome to all who dare try to understand the randomness that is my family ! I am finally taking the time to post everything about our trip because I dropped my cousin off at the airport and now have time alone to map everything out and edit all of my photos. That took a LONG time btw because of the fact that everyone else relied on me to take all the photos for our trip (thanks guys).
SOOO, HERE WE GO !!
Saturday January 3rd : Day One
The night before was kind of hectic for me because of course I waited until later to pack everything for the trip. By the time I got in bed I could not sleep from trying to think about anything that I had forgotten to bring. By the time I looked at my clock it was 12:00 am and I had to wake up at 3:10 to get ready to go. BLEH.
I finally went to sleep. I woke up what felt like 10 minutes later (even though it was really 3 hours). Shyboy, my cousin Jesse, and I got ready and were on the road from San Jose at 4 am. I did the first shift until we hit Grapevine. I was very glad that my mother bought me a new ipod and an itrip because it came in handy ! We did not encounter as much fog as expected, which was fabulous. The ride was smooth all the way there ! We got to Howard Johnson at 9:30 am. TheAXIOM and disneyL0VE were still at their dad’s house (an hour away) and had not left yet by the time we were there, so we checked in, changed into our clothes and headed for the park.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/DL%20january%2009/random.jpg
It was 10:30 by the time we entered and it was kind of busy, but not so bad! We headed straight for Adventureland because that is what we usually do. Our first ride was the Jungle Cruise, Indiana Jones and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/DL%20january%2009/famshot.jpg
After all of those we headed straight for Tomorrowland so we could watch the Jedi Training Academy. We love watching it and wanted Jesse to see it because he loooves Star Wars, specifically Darth Maul and we knew he would love it because of how great Darth Maul looks :)
Before watching the show, we grabbed some food at Pizza Port (which I forgot to photograph!) and took it right back over to the show because we were not in the mood for burgers. TheAXIOM and disneyL0VE made it for the show ! We managed to sit right behind the control panel where the CMs were handling all the tech. It was a perfect seat !!
After the show, we went on BLAB. Of course I kicked their butts ! I’m always getting that hidden target about 5 times. Once we were done, we headed toward Frontierland. We went into the pin store over there and bought some pins. The boys went and looked at the pin books that the CMs were trading with. After, we headed straight for HMH. How could we not ?!!??!?!? Its TheAXIOM and my FAAAVE! The line wasn’t too ridiculous; it was about 25 minute wait. After, we went to BTMR. It was fun ;)
We walked around some more, went into a bunch of stores for pins and penny crushers. After, TheAXIOM and disneyL0VE had to wait in line to get their APs !!! WOOO !! Sooo, Jesse, Shyboy72, and I walked around and looked at art and other things of the like in stores because it started raining ! Oh well, we went through it before this past January trip so it was no surprise to me. We managed to head outside just as the Christmas parade was happening and got to see the whole thing. It was very cute, but surprisingly short. About 10 minutes after the parade, we decided not to wait for them anymore and headed back to Hojos. We got to our room and I was pleasantly surprised to see how nice it is there. I have to admit that we’re going to be Hojo regulars ;)
Here's some pics of our room (we managed to get it messy that day!)

We rested for a couple of hours, and on the way out we got some McDonalds. We headed to DCA and went to ToT. We only waited for about 15 minutes! It was great.

On the way out, we caught the Electrical Parade, which I haven’t seen since it was on Main St. and that was when I was about 12. I was so happy to see it again. I even got a couple of shots !

After, we went to DL so we could see the fireworks on Main Street. For some reason, they started early and we got there just in time. It was crazy packed! We got to see it all though! After the fireworks we went to the rivers of America so we could watch Fantasmic! I don’t know why everyone tries to watch the show from Pirates. Everyone ALWAYS stops there. I just looked at them like they were newbies and walked around towards HMH and got prime spots by the water in the sitting area without any problems. Shyboy72 and disneyL0VE went to go look around and get some churros while we kept spots for them. It got pretty packed, so when they came back, they had to try not to step on people to get to our spot.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/DL%20january%2009/JanMoneyShot-19.jpg
The show was great ! We did get a little wet, but that was expected. Once it was over we ran to BTMR again ! Haha :) Then after, we went on Indie and called it a night! It was already 12 by then and we were very tired. We slowly made our way back to the hotel because our feet were killing us already. Even though we did not get on many rides on Saturday, we did get A LOT done ! On the way out, I took pictures of castle and of Snow White's well. It was so cool over there and I had never been there before !

Great photos of Fantasmic!!!! So clear.
I also love the pics of the Electrical Parade. I was so bummed that they weren't starting it until Dec 19th so we missed it.
That area by the castle with Snow White's well is soooo charming isn't it? Did you drop any change in & get a surprise?
Wonderful first day!!!!!

1. I applaud you for having as much stamina and enthusiasm on your first day as you did - on such little sleep! Yikes! I would have collapsed at 9:00 p.m. or earlier if I had only 3 hours of sleep.
2. Great pictures, as always, but the Electrical Parade pictures are particularly special.
3. TheAXIOM is wearing the exact same Mickey shirt I am wearing in my TR (the December 2008 trip portion)!!:thumbsup2 I LOVE that shirt! That is my second favorite Mickey shirt that I have ever had. In fact, a lot of people in DL (even some Cast Members) asked me about that shirt and where I got it. I don't know if AXIOM got it at World of Disney (which is where I got mine), but I am glad I nabbed it in October because I didn't see it when I went back into WOD in December. I actually wanted to buy an extra, because when I find shirts I love, I wear them to death and I want to start getting 'back-up shirts'!! But it was gone.
Anyway, carry on...I am looking forward to the next installment!

Thanks Melanie ! I really do love it over there where Snow White is; I was pleasantly surprised to check mark things that I have not seen/done yet. It was quite satisfying ;)
I did drop change in the well, but nothing happened. What usually happens ?

Thanks Sherry! I don't know how I do it, but it seems that every time a trip comes around, I manage to only have 3 hours of sleep for the first day. I manage to stay till close too EVERY TIME! Its crazy. Thanks for the compliments on the pictures  I had fun taking them. I managed to get those electrical parade pictures in reallllly quick because we did not stay for the whole thing in fear that we would miss the fireworks and we barely made it there on time!
TheAXIOM looooves that shirt. Its his fave ;)
We noticed that on the second day we were there, there were A LOT of people wearing it that day. He was glad he wore it on the first day because he felt more original around the park! He did get it from WOD. He got it last year I think (?). I'm not sure though, we've been a couple of times together so it kind of blends in together. I saw some like the shirts at WOD this time around, except they were zoomed in on his pants and his face was not on the shirt. I personally like the other ones better.
I always try to refrain from buying shirts because I have nothing but Disney shirts and I really do need to have other ones to wear outside in the real world

Sunday January 4th: Day Two
a.k.a DIS mini-meet day; a.k.a matchy matchy shirt day!
Hello Hello! Our plans for this wonderful morning was to wake up early and get there when the park opened. Did that happen? Heck NO. I woke up to my alarm, shut that bad boy off, and hit the bed again. By the time I officially woke up, it was about 8 am, and NO one was awake. So I woke people up. We all got ready and walked to DL.

By the time we got there it was already 10 and we were kind of hungry, so we headed over to Blue Ribbon. I decided to be a nice cousin and paid for everyone since I have more AP discount than them. I got an apple juice and a sticky bun, TheAXIOM got a white mocha and a snowman shortbread cookie, disneyL0VE got a hot chocolate and a pumpkin muffin, Shyboy72 got a regular mocha and a butter croissant, and Jesse got an orange juice (we shared the sticky bun). Everything was delicious!

After that we headed for the castle and took pictures along the way. Since we knew we weren’t going to get on anything in time and also meet the DISers at 11:30, we tried to go through the Sleeping Beauty walkthrough.
The line was RIDICULOUS. Seriously? Why is everyone here at DL ? It was crazy. Sooo we bypassed it and went on Snow White’s Scary Adventures. I ALWAYS have to go on that ride just because its oooober creepy and the ending is so abrupt, it cracks me up EVERY time.
(she is such a shorty!!! )

Next, we went on Pinocchio. Of course though, we took some pictures in that teacup and Mr. Toad's car (even though we did not get to go on those rides). Then we headed for Pizza Port.

When we got there, we saw toocherie and MaryJo ! I was nervous and excited at the same time. Shyboy72 and Jesse were both wandering around at star traders while we were finding all the DISers. In the end, we had quite a few people there.

There was WendyPooh22, YellowMickeyPonchos, Zoemakes5, and of course Pixiewings71 ;) It was so fantastic hanging out with everyone, but we felt bad for the guys (specifically Jesse), so I told them to go off and have fun while us girls hung out. Nancy made it and she told us all about her Guy Fieri encounter and even let us enjoy some of the candy cane he made! It was so good. Being the sweetheart she is, she brought handmade soaps and facial cream for Kaycee and I. It was sooo nice ;)

After, we parted with everyone but first made an arrangement to watch the Aladdin musical with Kerri and Micah ! Oh and we could not stop talking about how cool you two are. I’m so glad we got to hang out with you guys!
SOOO after the meet, we went on Star Tours real quick because Jesse could not remember the last time he was on it. Then we went to the train station to head to the front. We got off and noticed this crazy lady with white 4 inch heel boots and thought she was absolutely crazzzy for wearing those at DL. What was she thinking ?
Anyway, we went to DCA walked to the Animation building and had a blast in there. We watched the zoetrope (of course, because its suuuper awesome), went in the sorcerer’s workshop and had a blast in there ! We all were in the beasts library. They said I was the Queen of Hearts, Shyboy72 was Sher Khan, Jesse was Jiminy Cricket, TheAXIOM was Woody, and Kaycee was Lady Tremaine ! Haha ☺ SOO fun. We also went into Ursula’s Grotto and had her put our voice into scenes. SO fun !
After, we went to learn how to draw Jack Skellington! How cool is that? !?! It was a lot of fun. As we exited, we had just enough time to make it in line to take pictures with the Incredibles and Frozone.

The CM who helped us, Beatrice, was so cool. She took our pictures for us and joked around with us about quotes from the movie (we love the movie). After, we got in line for the musical. Kerri and Micah were allll the way in the front of the line and they were nice enough to wait for us when they started letting people into the theatre. We got good seats up top and watched the show. It was fantastic! I love the guy who plays Jafar. He is too cool for school ;) We all had a blast watching the show and TheAXIOM and disneyL0VE loved that the genie did the Single Ladies dance that Beyonce did in her music video; he is too funny!
After that, we all went to the bathroom real quick and went on Monsters. I TOTALLY smelled the ginger! It was so awesome. When we were in line a boy kept looking at me as I was eating chex mix, so I gave him some and he was soo happy. His parents thanked us and I though it was too cute.
After, we headed straight for TSMM! We didn’t have to wait TOO long, it was about 40 minutes. Jesse LOOOVED it (I knew he would).

(he's wearing Jessie's hat because his name is Jesse, get it ? ;))
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/DL%20january%2009/famshot-34.jpg
It was a lot of fun and even though I watched that youtube video on all the cheats, I sucked REALLLLY baad. BLEH! What can you do? Once we got off of that ride, we went on Screamin, which is always a blast!
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/DL%20january%2009/famshot-35.jpg
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/DL%20january%2009/famshot-36.jpg
The line was only 15 minutes. It was swweeeeet. Then, we decided to go eat at Denny’s.
The food was good and the server was great. This rude guy was complaining about a noise Shyboy72 was making with his lanyard and complained to his waitress instead of directly asking Shyboy to stop. What a chicken! The place was also packed with people talking loud and everything and that man was being such a butt. It was irritating.
Once we were done, we headed back to DL to get on rides while the fireworks and Fantasmic was going on. We did not expect it to be as bad as it was. It look like cattle were herded on main street. It was ridiculous. We had to go all the way around towards the castle and back around again, but we made it to Frontierland. We walked to HMH and rode it again because they were going to take down everything. The wait was kind of long, but understandable since it was the last day. We waited for about 45 minutes to get on the ride. We were consistently checking our watched because we were cutting it close to make it over to IASW. I was worried we weren’t going to make it. Oh, and I did NOT see the monkey bride at all. TheAXIOM and disneyL0VE did, and I was sad to not see it, but we did smell that wonderful gingerbread smell. MMM.
After, we walked fast to IASW. The line was not as ridiculous as it was in the day (the line went up that staging area by the smoking area earlier that day). We got in line and were not in the wrap around in the line yet and it was already 10:52 pm (the park closed at 11). Oh no, are we going to make it? We finally make it up to a point where there is a CM by the line and she says we’re going to be fine. Phew. Thank god!
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/DL%20january%2009/JanMoneyShot-30.jpg
We all got on the ride and I enjoyed the new boats sooo much. The seats were sooo comfortable; especially since we had been walking all day. The smell of peppermint was fantastic and I got some good shots in there!

Great shot of the IASW Holiday exterior - and there have been a lot of them posted on DIS by people, but every now and then someone takes a picture from a certain angle or where the light is just a little bit different - not to mention that some shots are more clear because the camera used is better;) - and so it makes it look fresh and interesting! Also, love, love, LOVE the nighttime Teacups shot, and you and I are thinking alike, Jasmine! When I was wandering around DL during my few golden hours alone on a Sunday night, I passed the Teacups and looked at how pretty the lanterns were and was thinking, 'If someone had a really good camera this could be a fantastic, beautiful shot!' I vote for that Teacups picture to be added to the Disneyland Picture of the Day thread!
Oh, and about the Mickey/Disney t-shirts... I used to buy quite a few Mickey t-shirts in the '90s, and I took care of them so they lasted a loooooonnnng time, until they just fell apart in tatters this decade! But I stopped buying Disney shirts after the '90s, and when I wanted to get a few new black Mickey t-shirts in 2007, I couldn't find any. I like the plain black ones with a graphic on the front. I don't like white shirts as a rule. I am partial to the basic black Mickey tee, and there seemed to be none around. They had shirts in all different colors but not black!:confused3 So, finally, in 2008 I began to see some black or dark, dark blue shirts pop up here and there, and then I found the great one that AXIOM and I both have in October 2008. So I haven't been buying them like crazy, but at least I know they are making a return! And I WILL wear mine in the real world!
I have seen some of the 'headless Mickey' shirts (not in that specific splattered paint design, but other designs), and I think the concept is interesting - it is a new spin on an old theme - but I haven't gotten one yet. I would just feel so bad wearing around a Mickey shirt where his cute little head was decapitated! I might, though. I have a bit of a bizarre sense of humor so I am not above it if I have to wear one!!!:rotfl:

Thanks Sherry !!
I agree with you about the shirts. I have a million and I tend to wear a Disney shirt at least 2-3 times a week, so I think I have enough to not have to buy some for a while though. I loooove the shirt you guys have though. Its so cool looking ;)
I love the teacups at night. That is one of the shots I wanted to get before we left. I just LOVE Alice in Wonderland. Its so funny, sarcastic, psychedelic and colorful. I'm so in love with that area of the park! I had to get a picture of it. Its going to be my desktop image :)

I wish I could have been there to meet you guys too (and I would have invited myself along to go see Aladdin with you and Kerri!), so we all (including Courtney) have to make a point of actually being at DLR at the same time someday in the future. It's funny, Jasmine - you and Courtney were there at the same time in October and never saw each other, and Nancy and I were there at the same time (well, our trips overlapped) in December and because I was stressed and forgot to copy her phone number into my cell before I left, we never met! A lot of near-misses going on! I will gladly get in a big silly group photo, but I will hide in the back with my giant sunglasses because I don't want to detract from the HAWT-ness of everyone!:rotfl: :rotfl: I am a HAWT-ness killer!:lmao: :lmao:

Monday January 5th: Day 3
Kaycee's Unbirthday
Since we spent 2 full days at the parks until closing, we were kind of happy that the park opened at 10 today. We slept in for a while and took our time to get ready but still managed to be a little late for our Minnie & Friends PS at 9:40 am (we got there at 9:50). We were lead through the shops on the right side of Main Street and led to the Plaza Inn. They still had Main Street closed off for the park opening and there was a stampede of people there. It was CRAZY! I mean, its MONDAY after New Years. Why isn’t everyone at school and work ? This was a bad sign already. We got led into the Plaza Inn, but not before taking pictures (I bought it because I’m a sucker for pictures!).
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/DL%20january%2009/famshot-39.jpg
We were lead towards the left side of the building and got to eat way in the back where all the lovely windows are (it looked like a hot house for plants). They had a lovely selection of food: sausage, ham, bacon, scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy, french toast, waffles, fruit, an omelete bar, and a wonderful selection of drinks. The food was great and the character interaction was amazing.
(mmm, good bacon)
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/DL%20january%2009/famshot-49.jpg
Apparently the fairy god mother was talking to TheAXIOM while we were all out getting food and he told her it was his sister’s birthday. So she screamed out for Kaycee and walked clear across the place to go see her! It was too funny. Throughout the meal different characters kept taking Jesse’s hat and posing cool for us with it on. It was funny.

One of the highlights of the meal was when Minnie dropped by. There was a little girl standing by the bathrooms outside of the restaurant and she was waving at Minnie. She waved back and the little girl blew her two air kisses and Minnie blew some back and the little girl was so thrilled. She had this big twinkle in her eye and she ran to get her grandma to show her what happened. It was so magical. Then, Captain Hook came over and I knew there was going to be trouble. He looked over at Kaycee because she had her birthday hat on and pin and he was messing with her and me! I asked if we could take a picture with him and he slowly moved over to us, and knocked off my EARS as the picture was getting taken ! What a cod fish! Haha!

All the characters were saying Happy Birthday to Kaycee because she wore her pin & hat, but her real birthday was tomorrow. (She wanted to get a full day's worth of wearing the hat).

At the end of the meal, Tigger came over and was pointing at the balloon a CM gave me and I looked up. He slowly moved over to me and out of nowhere he bonked me on the head and ran away giggling! So rude ! Everyone thought it was super funny though. After, Dale came over and had a sword fight with one of the nearby kids. His brother came to the rescue and both of them stabbed Dale. He rolled over on the ground and pretended to die. It was really funny !

As we were leaving Eeyore and Dale were trying to court a young lady by giving her the flowers on the table, salt and pepper shakers, forks, napkins, etc. The CM told them it wasn’t cute and what they should do was pick up a sugar packet and say “excuse me miss, I think you dropped your name tag” and Eeyore rolled on the ground and laughed for days! It was sooo funny!

After we walked through some shops like the place where they have coats of arms for families. That was really neat ! Then we made our way to Casey Jr. to ride it for the first time (sorry I said it was on Sunday, but I’m totally blending days together). We talked to a CM there and he said he saw a wedding there recently that was over a $1 Million !!?!:scared1: He said they purchased the shooting star firework and EVERYTHING! Crazy business.
Then after we finally went on the teacups. Us girls were still full and in no mood to throw up, so we let the boys stay in one cup and we hung out in ours and barely spun it.

As we left, we went to see what the line was like for the Matterhorn. NO way. We’re not waiting. So we got FPs for Space and headed over to DCA to get some more TSMM action going!
Before we went to Paradise Pier, we went to Condor Flats and took pictures with Mater & Lightening McQueen and went on Soarin'. Most of them have never been on Soarin' and they liked it; especially the scents. Very cool :)
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/DL%20january%2009/famshot-81.jpg
The line at TSMM was only 30 minutes (it was actually a little less than that) and we had a blast again (of course). Then we went to Screamin’ and waited for about 12 minutes. It was pretty sweet. We figured we should head back after because we wanted to get warm clothes for the evening since it was going to be 38 degrees out tonight!

Great pictures with Hook, Chip, Dale and Pooh & his gang!! One question - I have never been able to determine this from what anyone has posted on DIS. Is the Minnie & Friends breakfast an all-you-can-eat buffet, or is it just 'buffeteria style', where you go up to the counter with your tray and tell the person behind the glass what you want and they pile it on your plate (which is what Plaza Inn is during the rest of the day, I think)? At first I thought that all the character meals were all-you-can-eat-buffets, but then someone posted something to make me think differently at some point and I have been confused.
Also, I have heard conflicting reports about Minnie's - some say it's their favorite of the character meals and some say it is their least favorite. I have heard reports of children running around after the characters and how there isn't much structure to it, unlike the other character meals. Now I love Goofy's and have only had good experiences there, and I know a lot of other people do too, but I know there are a few people who don't like Goofy's Kitchen AT ALL, so I don't know what to make of the conflicting Minnie's reports. I trust your opinion, though. So is is kind of chaotic, with children running around, chasing characters and everything being kind of frantic and frenzied? Because I would really like to try it in the future, just for the different characters to visit with. I would never banish Goofy's from my DLR agendas, but I would like to try Minnie's as well on the next weekend trip.

On the way out we headed towards Bug’sland and went to go see Its tough to be a bug! Shyboy72 didn’t want to watch, so he went to P.T. Flea to look at pins and we enjoyed the show. It was SOOO good. I LOOOVED it:banana: . I think that is going to be a regular for me. Oh & how gross were those feelings on the chairs:laughing: ! Me and Kaycee TOTALLY screamed and jumped up! Haha !!

By the time we left the park it was about 4, so we went to McDonalds to get some food and went to the hotel. We rested for an hour, then got up and going to head back to DL. Everyone was pretty much exhausted by then, but we had to keep truckin’. When we got there, people were waiting on Main Street to see the fireworks and the crowds were worse than Sunday! ?!?! It was crazy!
We went on Space Mountain & Shyboy72 went to Starcade to play some games while we did, and after we tried to head over to Adventureland.

We headed to Jungle Cruise because the guys wanted to see it at night. The jokes were pretty much the same (bleh) and the line was pretty long. After, the fireworks were getting started, so we went on Indie. That line was pretty dang short because we were trying to find all the Hidden Mickeys in there and its hard to do when you have to walk through everything. Oh btw, we had been searching for the hidden mickeys all weekend and crossing them off of my book when we found them! After that ride, we went on Pirates. By then, Fantasmic was just starting. It was walk on and no wait whatsoever (it was a long wait all weekend, so we waited until Monday to go on it. I know, crazy). After, we went on BTMR and were the last car to go on the ride! It was pretty cool:cool2: . When we walked out, I pulled out my trusty tripod and we went all over Frontierland, NOS, and Main Street so I could finish off taking pictures:thumbsup2 . The security was politely pushing us out of the park.

We slowly walked towards the front and stopped in front of the tree and hung out under it for a good 30 minutes. How awesome is that? :goodvibes By then, the crowds were pretty much gone and TheAXIOM and I heard ‘Put on your Sunday Clothes’ and HAD to skip down Main Street. It was too perfect!:woohoo: The park closed at 8, so we got back to the hotel around 9:30. I popped some nacho dip in the microwave and we snacked and reminisced/packed for the rest of the night.

It is pretty much an all you can eat buffet. It is kind of buffeteria style though where you tell them what you want, but you can go back as many times as you want. I personally liked it a lot because we were in that corner, but I did see some kids running around (but thats kind of what kids do when characters are around). I didn't see people getting chaotic though.
There also were CMs with the characters keeping everyone in line, so it really isn't as bad as people are painting it to be. We enjoyed it A LOt; almost more than Goofy's. I think we do just because we've been going the past couple of times to Goofy's Kitchen. You should try it; a slow day would be better too.

I'm really having a lot of fun with photography; especially at DLR. Its combining two of my loves together. Its fantastic !! I'd like to do a tablebook one day. I've already printed a book of my photography on a kind of do it yourself website and I'd LOOOOVE to do it once I have a wide range of photographs to contribute to it. I guess I'll just have to go to DLR a little bit more ;)

Hi WazowskiLOVER,
I just started reading your TR. Looks like you all had a great time. Love the photos! I give you credit carrying the tripod everywhere. It's a lot of work! I'm still on vacation in Las Vegas right now. I just noticed the above quote. I was there at the park on Monday Jan 5. Fireworks weren't on the schedule that day. In fact, IIRC, the Xmas tree already came down Sunday night after park closing. Am I losing my mind?:confused3 I was fighting off a cold from the week before Dec 31 and thought I didn't need to go to the DR, but it got worse being out and about everyday in DL in the cold weather. So maybe I am losing my mind about fireworks on that Monday. :scared: The last day I recall them showing it was Sunday...
Actually I just looked at a DL schedule (the one they have at the turnstile) for that Monday through Thursday (Jan 5-8) and there were no fireworks scheduled those days, only Fantasmic. Did you see the fireworks that Monday? I only recall seeing F! from Monday on. Maybe I am losing it and DL changed the calendar again and didn't update it!
Oh yeah, I saw the lady with the huge 4" heeled boots, too. She must've been in pain from trying to walk around in those! Nuts!

Nuts!
I know for a fact that the tree was still there on Monday because that picture of my cousin & I under the tree are from Monday. They didn't get rid of the tree until Monday night. Most of the decorations around the park were still up that day. All of the decorations I took pictures of in NOS were from Monday too! I was happy because I was worried that I wouldn't be able to take any nighttime shots. You could be right about the fireworks though ! My mind is escaping me on our trip and I could not get the days straight at all!
Thanks for the compliments! My tripod retracts pretty small, so it wasn't TOO bad. It fit in my backpack, which I carry with me all the time ;)

I am so sorry! Please disregard my previous post regarding Monday. I woke up this morning and realized, hello? I wasn't in the park on Monday. I was so sick that I stayed back at the hotel and just vegged out. It was Tuesday that the tree was down and I saw the lady with the 4" boots! I don't know if she was the same one you saw the day before. This one was about 40ish looking and wearing an outfit that looked like something Cindy Lauper would've worn proudly in the 80's! :lmao: I know it's coming back, but it was kind of funny looking. And I don't know how she was able to walk around in those heels all day!:scared1:
One day is just completely running into the next and being sick on vacation doesn't help either! I got sick last year at DL too! :sad1: BTW, what brand tripod are you using? I'm looking for a lightweight, small tripod that's easy to carry around on vacation. I have a CF one but even 2-3 pounds gets heavy lugging around all day in DL. I have a lightweight, junk one, that weighs less than 1 pound that I brought on this past trip, because I just knew the CF tripod would sit in the locker all day. It worked but I had to really keep an eye on it because obviously it's less stable than the CF tripod. I need a new one though, because this one is a little too scary unstable in the connection plate. It's actually broken, but I used it. :scared: Anyway, great job on the TR and the pics!:worship: That's for posting and please disregard my air headed previous response.

No problem !! I was thinking about it and was totally confused for an hour trying to remember what day everything happened. That lady with her white boots TOTALLY stuck in my mind though. I'm just going to be honest and say that she looked crazy ! Her outfit did not look comfortable AT ALL for DL.
The tripod I'm using is the Manfrotto 785 Modo Maxi Photo Video Grip Head Tripod. I LOOVE it! I'm gonna say its like 2.5 lbs although I'm not exactly sure the actual weight. I don't think its too much of an inconvenience, plus I always think its worth it because I want to take fantastic shots of Disneyland so I can make a tablebook (thanks TravelMel for the awesome idea). I got it on amazon.com and right now if you get it from there its going for $56! I think thats a steal!

I must admit that when my friends and I sit down to take a rest break in DLR and begin people-watching, we always make a point of scouting out the random women in the crowds who are wearing heels. There are always a few, but they are hard to spot. I don't understand it. Even if you have never been to Disneyland before, certainly everyone in the world has heard about it and knows that there is a lot of walking and physical exertion that is going to happen. What on earth possesses some women to wear ANY kind of high-heels to DLR, let alone 4-inchers? I hate to make a sweeping generalization, but it has to be just sheer vanity, at least for the younger girls. (Women in their 30's and above pretty much know better - unless they are trying to look hot!!) They don't care about how impractical it is or how miserable they will be trying to get on and off rides. They only care about looking good. I should be used to that kind of attitude from people given the area of Los Angeles where I have lived all my life, but it never ceases to amaze me!
The only case in which I can understand women wearing high heels to DLR is if they are ONLY going to dinner - maybe at Club 33 - and then leaving immediately after, or possibly on a date somewhere in DTD, then on a whim stroll into the parks and don't have a change of shoes. Otherwise, it makes no sense to me. But it is a long walk from the gates of DL to where Club 33 is, and an even longer walk from DTD! Anyway, when we people watch, we try to find the random girls wearing heels and we try to guess what the relationships are between pairs of people (i.e., married a long time; newly dating; married but hate each other; roommates; friends with benefits; mother-daughter, etc.).
So that lady in her crazy boots would have been a major score for our people watching efforts!!

I know ! I think its SO funny. Women who go to the park in heels that do NOT have some sort of meal reservations and are just wearing heels to look hot always seem so desperate to me (that might seem a little harsh, sorry). Whenever I see them I just imagine how her feet feel. OUCH! I would NEVER wear anything but comfortable stuff because the amount of walking we do when we are there!
I love to people watch at Disneyland too! My favorite is when people start dancing. I loove it. I tend to be the person who dances, but when I see other people getting down, I thoroughly enjoy it ;)

I kid you not Kerri, we kept saying, geez Kerri & Micah are such cool people. I'm so glad we got to meet them! Maybe our trips will overlap again and we'll be able to hang out again! It would be a blast. You saw us on MS ? Shucks! We were in kind of a hurry on Tuesday though. We were trying to get all our shopping done and meet up with Kaycee's dad at ESPN Zone by 12 ! I was surprised to see all the crowds that day! It was crazy !

Kerri, did you go to Pixie Hollow to see Tink and the other fairies ? I figure I'd ask you here because its my thread and I won't get upset about being OT since its safe territory
I kind of wanted to go in there to see what it looked like, but I'm not a huge Tink fan. I figured, I'd ask a Tink fan to see what it was like ;)

You are right - it IS desperate! You're not being harsh! And if the lady in the 4" heel boots was any older than 30, she should know better so that's really desperate! It also speaks volumes about someone when they show up at an amusement park with tons of walking involved wearing crazy heels - again, unless it was a spur of the moment decision to go to DL and the poor girl doesn't know she is going to DL and so hasn't brought the right shoes, OR has a dinner at Club 33 and is planning to leave immediately after. To me, it shows they can't fully let loose and enjoy themselves at DLR. They are probably more concerned with how they look than having a fun time. But, I suppose if a woman wants to wear some crazy shoes to DLR and trot around until her feet are bleeding, then it's her choice. I will worry about my own feet!:rotfl: Who am I to stop her? But I will still be scouting them out in my people-watching endeavors at DLR!!!
I don't think I have ever caught sight of anyone dancing in the middle of DLR (other than on the actual dance floor areas)! I will have to keep my eyes peeled for random dancers! I just like to observe body language and see if I can tell if a couple is happy together or if one person in the pair wants more than the other person wants, or if they can't stand each other - that sort of thing!! Good times!:thumbsup2 :lmao:

Jasmine.......you can just tell how great a time you guys had. It looks like your cousin who isn't that much of a Disney lover seemed to have a blast too. Did you convert him????
Your night time shots with the tripod are AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! My favorite is the NO Square one of the Christmas decorations.
Also, the one of you & the AXIOM skipping down an empty Main Street. Priceless.

Thank you Melanie :) I was so glad that they didn't take down the decor on Monday night because that is when I took the pic. Officially it was supposed to be gone by then, but the night before I forgot to bring my tripod (I was devastated that I would not have enough time to go back to the hotel and grab it). Good thing everything was still up :)

Tuesday January 6th: Day 4
Happy 21st Birthday Kaycee !
Luckily, some of us had already packed some of our stuff to make it easier to get going. For sure we knew that we would not be back in the hotel in time to check out so, I had everyone’s stuff go in my car so we could check out early. Originally, we were only supposed to go to the park for 3 days, but since TheAXIOM bought his AP and disneyL0VE got hers for Christmas from their dad, we thought it would be a good idea to pay for Jesse’s extra day and go in the park so we could try and get on rides that we could not get on. I was surprised that in those three days we STILL had not been on everything, but it was definitely possible since it was pretty crowded while we were there. Kaycee and Jesse got going early so Kaycee could get her fun card and so we could add an extra day to Jesse’s 3 day park hopper (oh, btw we almost were not able to do so because we did it the day after). By the time Shyboy72, TheAXIOM, and I met up with Jesse and Kaycee, they were near to the front of the line at the turnstiles to get into the park.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/DL%20january%2009/famshot-104.jpg
We had a clear plan the night before what rides we were going for and in what order to get on them. The park opened up at 10 am and we had to meet up for lunch at ESPN zone with Kaycee’s dad at 1. We only had 3 hours to get on the following rides : Matterhorn Bobsleds, Peter Pan, Splash Mountain, and Winnie the Pooh. Ohhh and to also have time to shop Kaycee’s fun card away.
So right when we got in the park, we decked it right for Matterhorn. We were there before the rope drop (we never are), and so Jesse went to the bathroom real quick and Shyboy72 went into Blue Ribbon to get a coffee. We all hurried over to the Matterhorn and got on in about 15 minutes! Not bad at all. We all got our own seat (which was nice because I personally don’t like scrunching up and being all uncomfortable on that ride when it already is kind of bumpy to begin with). After, we went through the side of Fantasyland and went straight in line for Peter Pan. The wait was only about 15 minutes as well (which I was kind of shocked about because its usually ridiculous). We heard a lot of people from Australia which I was really stoked about because I LOOOOVE accents. I’m so sad that I don’t have one, so whenever there is anyone around with an accent I always try and be nosy or start up a conversation with them.
There was a man in front of us with his son going “WOO!” every time a ship flew off into the Darlings bedroom and I started doing it with them and his son started to get excited (he was weary of standing in line). It was fun to do ! I told him he should work there when he gets older. He was still tired, poor little guy. When we got off the ride I couldn’t help but think about EmmersIsTheMommy winning the Dream Suite right there. SOOO jealous !
After, we headed towards Critter Country and cut through the back ways and passed Rancho del Zocalo. TheAXIOM had to go to the restroom so we waited and enjoyed the Christmas décor in that area. So nice !
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/DL%20january%2009/JanMoneyShot-67.jpg
We saw the partitions up around HM. So sad to see it go, but what can ya do right ? We went straight in line to Splash and it was a complete walk on. We got our own raft, so that was nice. Shyboy and Jesse got the most wet and of course TheAXIOM complained about his little wet knee splotch.

Our last destination was Winnie the Pooh and it was only 11 ! Yay ;) That was also a walk on and after we had to get some tigger tails and sweets! I bought Kaycee a cupcake because we’re BOTH obsessed with cupcakes. I also bought trail mix, a chocolate caramel pecan marshmallow doo hicky, and a real cute candy apple for my mom. Shyboy got a brownie and the other guys got the tails too.

We walked through Adventureland because the guys wanted to see if they could squeeze in Indie. Before heading towards it, we went through Tarzan’s Treehouse because I’ve never been on it. It was pretty neat. Turns out Indie was shut down. While we were there, I decided to treat everyone to Bengal Bbq because I HAD to try it. Like everyone said, it was very pricy for the portion size, but we weren’t going for a full meal.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/DL%20january%2009/random-37.jpg
Luckily by the time we were done, they opened up Indie, so Kaycee and I went to Main Street and the guys went on the ride. We looked around and shopped and by the time Kaycee had to pay, their machines went down and she couldn’t use her fun card. She was already kind of cranky (she gets that way easily haha) and I spotted her some cash to pay for her stuff. I wanted to get those wonderful mickey aprons and have them embroidered. We met up with the guys and Shyboy wanted to do the same for his mom. Luckily the hat store was so close because Kaycee wanted to get ears with her boyfriend’s name on it. They said everything would be done in an hr so I said okay and proceeded to pay. I gave the girl my AP after we got everything done and she was really pissy giving me attitude saying that next time I should give her my AP right away because now she had to adjust everything on her system. BLEH. Its your job anyway girl, don’t give me sass because you’re having a bad day. GRRR.
Next she helped Shyboy72 and he wrote down his mom’s name because that’s the way he remembers how to spell it out and the girl was being so rude to him too. UGH. She was such a (pardon my french) b*tch. I was getting so pissed at her, but we were cutting it so close on time that I just dealt with it. Kaycee was very impatient and said no about the hat. We left DL and went to ESPN Zone.
They sat us right away and I told the hostess it was Kaycee’s birthday and she said she could get her name on the marquee. I was pretty stoked about that.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y192/jazzilla/DL%20january%2009/famshot-109.jpg
Kaycee got a raspberry mojito and we all enjoyed our food. We were all pretty wiped out, so our conversation was kind of slow and lack of excitement. Haha.

After the lunch, everyone went to the World of Disney while I made my way back into the park so I could pick up the aprons. The rude girl was still there, but another CM was there so she was on good behavior around her. I decked it back to World of Disney because I had shopping to do there myself. Everyone was still shopping around so I had plenty of time. After getting our stuff, disneyL0VE, TheAXIOM tried again to get the vinylmation pins we wanted. We became obsessed with pins this weekend.
Once we were done, we began to walk back to Hojo’s so we could take off back to San Jose. On our way, we had to go through the bag checkpoint and these scene teenagers were trying to bypass the line and asked us if we had our tickets to the parks and if they could have them because they were doing a “school project” and we said no and that we had APs and they said something snotty like “its so expensive to get into the parks.” BLEH, what losers. I was done with DLR by then just because of how many people were there, so we walked back and packed our things to go home. It took us about 6 ½ hours to get home because of the traffic in LA, but that was expected. It was a really fun trip and I can’t wait to go again!

I LOOOOOVED my food at ESPN Zone in October (and the server, Amy, was great). You said you had a PS for ESPN?? Did you make it through Disneyland Dining or some other way? I thought I had heard that Disney Dining was no longer taking PS's for ESPN and that they are tricky to get, but let me know how you did it so I can do it too. The wait to be seated killed me in October. It was crazy without a PS! Your pictures are making me so hungry! I need to start incorporating ESPN into more DLR trips, and put it in place of some of the other restaurants I am burning out on like Carnation and Rainforest Cafe! Yummy chicken strips with great BBQ sauce and THICK milkshakes!
So, I wasn't clear on what happened with Kaycee's Fun Card. When the machines went down and she couldn't use the Card, did they give her a voucher to use it later or can she just go back to DLR any time and use the card? At first it was thought that they could only be used ON the actual birthdays, but now that has changed, apparently!
And, the mission of this trip was to restore your cousin's Disney magic. Did you succeed? Has it been restored? I must know!!

We didn't have PS for ESPN, Sherry ;) We went on a weekday & figured it wouldn't be too busy for lunch, especially around 1. When we got there, it seemed empty ! Our waiter was very funny and nice, I don't remember his name so we just called him "Dude." :) & He helped me out with choosing my drink because I hate the taste of alcohol
About my Fun Card - their credit card system was entirely down on Main Street when Jaz & I went to shop.. so I couldn't use my Fun Card. I usually get irritated easily (don't know why) on our last day so I didn't feel like waiting. I figured we'd just go to ESPN for lunch then go shopping - by then their system was up & running.
We SUCCESSFULLY restored the Disney Magic in our other cousin :cheer2: I think 4 days was just a lil too much for him though so he won't be returning to DL for a while I think :rotfl:

We didn't have PS for ESPN, Sherry ;) We went on a weekday & figured it wouldn't be too busy for lunch, especially around 1. When we got there, it seemed empty ! Our waiter was very funny and nice, I don't remember his name so we just called him "Dude." :) & He helped me out with choosing my drink because I hate the taste of alcohol

Thanks for the reply, Kaycee!:goodvibes Okay, I got it now. I read the 1:00 time for ESPN Zone and assumed it was some sort of PS. I don't know what they are doing about PS's now, but when I ate there in October on a Thursday night, the wait was sooooooo long. I will have to try it at some mid-afternoon time in the future, and hope that it's not too crowded!
So your Fun Card didn't go to waste, which is a good thing. At least now we all know that they can be used on other days besides the actual birthday, so if there are any technical glitches in their system, people won't miss out on being able to use it.
Four days at DLR can be a lot for people who don't LOVE DLR as much as you do. Of course, I would love to have four FULL days straight (or more) to really cover a lot of ground, but the fact that you guys got Jesse back into the Disney spirit even a little bit is encouraging!!!:thumbsup2

I think that Jesse really enjoyed DLR a lot because he bought a small book about the history of DL and wanted to know more historical background about the place. I think him not coming back for a while has to do with how expensive it is to go there ;)
I really like ESPN Zone. I'm surprised that you had to wait so long to eat there. I guess I just get lucky every time I go because we always just end up waiting about 10 minutes to sit down. Then again we always go on weekdays during lunch. Who knows though! I love the food there. Its really good for the price :)

I loove it. I tend to be the person who dances, but when I see other people getting down, I thoroughly enjoy it ;)
I love that pic too! Its so cute ;)
Awww, you guys!!! You're making me blush! LOL I hope we can get together again, either at DL or just to hang out in San Jose or something. We really liked hanging out with you guys too. Yes, we saw you on MS, you were about halfway down and we were at the beginning. I thought about screaming "HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAYCEE!!!!!!!!!!!" at the top of my lungs but reconsidered. LOL You guys were in a hurry, we saw the boys after in the Frontierland pin shop, they said you were meeting with Kaycee's Dad at ESPN Zone. Your food looked GOOD!!!! I hope you were able to grab Kaycee a drink, after all she was LEGAL! :)
Kerri, did you go to Pixie Hollow to see Tink and the other fairies ? I figure I'd ask you here because its my thread and I won't get upset about being OT since its safe territory
I kind of wanted to go in there to see what it looked like, but I'm not a huge Tink fan. I figured, I'd ask a Tink fan to see what it was like ;)
I decided not to do PH because my girls are such major fans of Tink. I thought it would be magical to wait and do it with them. :) So we are planning on doing that when we go in a few weeks to activate their AP's. :)

We did get her a drink! She had a raspberry mojito and I SOOO wanted to join her, but I was driving home. She calls me a lightweight, but she only finished half her drink. What a NOOOOB. It was funny !

Oh and I looove pickles too :) My uncle actually got me one of those Costco sized jars of pickles and I just put the jar in the refrigerator a couple of hours ago. In fact, just because I read what you said, I pulled a pickle out and am eating one right now ! WOO!
I told Eric what you said, and he said "see I'm not the only one." That lady was so rude. It was ridiculous!

I will never understand why people who dislike working with other people get a job at Disneyland. If ever there is a job that you need to be onstage and in character it's there, no matter whether you work in food services, a store or whatever.

I don't know. Its so disappointing. I feel upset when they are like that because I bet there are other people who would like to work there that would have a better attitude towards customers. Also, because I am a waitress and have been for 5 years, the customer is always right. PERIOD.

Well and Disney with their "Be Our Guest" moto the employees really need to be more patient and nicer. I worked for years with the public and waitress is about the only job I didn't do. I think that has got to be one of the hardest jobs there is. You have to deal with so many different types of people and if there is alcohol oh my. I used to occasionally do cocktail waitressing when they were short handed at the bowling alley I worked at years ago. Oh my.
I am kind of "researching" a trip near the end of April. I want nothing more than going. It is right before my Hubby and my birthdays and he has to work over our birthdays so I think this would be better.

Ooo ! You should sooo do it. In fact, if you wait maybe a week or two, you MIGHT get a deal from Circuit City since they are going out of business. Either that, or you'll find a better deal online!

Thanks! I had a feeling it was a D40! My Mom and I went to Target today to get a Wii Fit and I was looking at the cameras and they had a D40 for $499. There's a Circuit City right down the street from my house. I know everything they're getting rid of is until sometime in March. I'm going to go check it out and see if they have a real good discount or not.

SO its COMPLETELY unofficial, but I think I'm going to DLR for my birthday (May 16th). We MIGHT do 16-17th. It depends on how things pan out. I start school tomorrow, so there's definitely no planning until I get a hold of how my school shedule/homework schedule will affect the trip because my birthday ALWAYS falls either the week before finals or on finals week. The beginning of the Pre-TR!
So I'm a little bored here in one of my classes and I've decided to start talking about my trip for my birthday. My parents normally try to do something big for my birthday because it used to be kind of boring for me. When I was younger I used to share my birthday with my grandmother and there used to be nothing but elderly people at the party (woo fun for me:lmao: ).
So since, they always try to give me fun parties and stuff to compensate. This year I REALLY wanna go for my birthday. We've gone twice for Kaycee's and I want my turn! SOOO, we are officially doing it. For sure I know that none of my cousins can make it because of school and money. Eric can't make it because he's planning on going to visit his family in Mexico.
Its pretty much going to be my mom, dad, an uncle and me. I really don't mind because I think we're only going on Saturday and Sunday. I don't plan on pre-registering for my fun card for my birthday because Kaycee went to the ticketing booths and had no problem getting hers. My only concern is it taking a while (we are limited to 2 days of DLR, which I am not too keen on, but its what we can do).
I would like to show pics of everyone who is going, so I'll pull some from the previous trip.

My oldest daughter Kacy by the way shares her Grandma's birthday. It has always been more about her. My Dad used to always try to convince me that I should throw them combined parties but I was a bad girl. I figured it just wouldn't be fair to her if she had to share her party. And so has my Mom always for that matter. How exciting even if it is a short trip it's better than no trip.

I always did kind of resent that our birthday parties were together because I didn't have fun half of the time. I guess thats my fault though for not being more understanding about the situation. How nice though that you have a separate birthday for your daughter! Thats fantastic.

Oh I am a bad Mom. We have done the home school for a week to go to Disneyland. It is harder with highschool, especially since my girls are both in honors classes at the highschool. My son was telling me that he and Kerri's DD were dance partners in PE recently. They talk about Disneyland with each other. A quick giggle for you. Well thats definitely a decision for you to make ;) I'm glad to hear that he is getting interested in art because they really aren't nurturing it as much in school anymore with all these cutbacks everywhere. Its crazy. Whenever I see on the news that they've decided to cut art and music I get so angry because those two things (I think) are essential to educating a child!

We are lucky so far. Our schools are full of art still. He is in advanced band and the jazz band right now too. The art really helps to make all of the skills click. Music really helps with the math skills.

I agree 100%
I don't get it when schools cut music programs saying that the benefits are not enough to keep them in. Its really sad. How wonderful that your son is in advanced band and jazz band! I've always loooved watching bands perform.

Jasmine, I am curious about the dreaded Photobucket bandwidth issue. I have a few questions. It seems like I recall that sometime recently Travelmel was having a similar problem (I THINK it was Travelmel; could be wrong) with Photobucket. Seeing that I use Photobucket too (though will probably start loading a bunch of other pictures onto Shutterfly), I need to be prepared. The problem that I usually have with them is that they are slow loading and combined with my slow computer, it is a nightmare trying to do anything with pictures.
But about the bandwidth issue, because I am confused - first of all, is it a monthly limit of 25 MB bandwidth on Photobucket or is it an overall account limit of 25 MB? I remember you said you took over 500 pictures on the DLR trip earlier this month, so did those exceed the limit? Would the bandwidth limit increase if you upgraded from the free Photobucket service to the paid service (which I was considering doing so I could create MORE than 10 online albums, but I may not if I go to another service)? Is there any way you have of knowing when you are uploading photos that you are reaching the limit, or do you not find out until it's too late? Like do they give you a warning ('you are reaching your limit', etc.)? And what is the purpose disabling the images until February 4th? It seems like they would just tell you to delete some pictures, right?
I certainly uploaded a bunch of pictures from my last couple of DLR trips recently (definitely 500 or more), including 300 PhotoPass pictures and other older DLR pictures, so I was getting worried. But when I thought about it just now, I realized that I uploaded all those pictures from my film rolls (like the black and white ones, etc.) in December. There were a BUNCH. The PhotoPass shots, along with all the Bret Michaels/Poison pictures I have recently posted, etc., were uploaded in January - just in the last few weeks. So maybe I avoided the bandwidth issue unknowingly because I did it in two separate months.:confused3 I had been planning on uploading a bunch more older DLR pictures to post on here in my TR, but maybe I will wait until tomorrow to start, since it's the first day of February!!!! I have already reached the 10 album limit that the Free service allows. So I can either pay Photobucket and get more albums, or start putting a bunch of other pictures on another site. Mariezp was using Webshots, but has begun to put a bunch of her stuff on Shutterfly. Do you know of any other good (free) image hosting sites, Jasmine? Snapfish and Flick'r are no good.
I just want to know how anyone knows they are reaching the Photobucket bandwidth limit before they disable all of your images!!

So I was getting emails recently and I kept deleting images from my photobucket saying that I was reaching my 25 MB of Bandwidth for the month, but I guess deleting images did NOT help at all because, alas, my photos are taken off. I started another photobucket account as a back up so that I can do both (soo bad, I know). The only other places I know of that host images that are good, cost money and I'm definitely not going to pay for it! So I guess the only solution is watching how much you upload per month. BOO !

So they were giving you warnings and yet they disabled your images temporarily anyway (until February 4). That makes no sense. I never knew that there was any bandwidth limit per month. I only knew that with the free Photobucket service, I was allowed to create 10 albums, and within each of those albums I can store up to 250 images. If I pay and upgrade the service, I can get more albums and more images. I wouldn't mind paying the $40 or whatever it is as long as it was not such a slooooooow process to upload and edit the photos, and as long as I could store a BUNCH of pictures.
I haven't heard whether or not Webshots charges to store images, but Snapfish and Flick'r definitely were going to charge, so I abandoned them. I am curious about Shutterfly, though. Mariezp said that Shutterfly is the only one she found that will make you a CD of your images (for a lofty fee, I imagine), but I think the actual storage of the photos is free. When I briefly looked on the Shutterfly website a couple of weeks ago, it seemed like they were claiming to be the ONLY photo/image hosting site that didn't have any limitations and yet they were still free. (I was in a rush, so I didn't look for the 'fine print' with asterisks and what not!) I would like to get all of my older photos on CDs at some point. So I would either have to send all the negatives out somewhere and have some service transfer everything to a CD, OR I would have to scan everything (and I have a LOT to scan), and then transfer it over electronically to a place that will make a CD. (This computer is old and own't burn CD's/DVD's). But this computer would not be able to handle storing all of my pictures after I have scanned them - there are just too many. So I would have to do it in groups. Scan some pictures, upload them to an image-hosting site, delete them from the computer, then start again with a new group of pictures.
Ahhh......the joys of backing-up, storing, editing and managing your photos, eh? It is so rewarding and fun when everything is working like clockwork, but such a nuisance when it's not! I would bet you are not the only one with TWO Photobucket accounts if other folks have had that same bandwidth issue. I assume you just use a different e-mail address to open the account?

I like Shutterfly because I can have my pictures printed and I can pick them up at Target. Like for instance my daughter Kody is doing a project for the story The Odessy and instead of the normal type of project she is doing makeup for the characters on her friends and family to represent characters in the story. Then she is going to put the photos on a poster boards to present it.

You mean Homer's The Odyssey, or a different one (I loved Greek mythology when I was younger).
Does Shutterfly charge to simply store your photos? And are they accurate when they claim that there are no limits on their service? Like could I load 4000 pictures on there and not be charged? All I know is that Mariezp was getting a CD from them, but the price of the CD would be determined by how many pictures are on it.

Yes, it's Homers. I love Greek mythology too. There is a young teens series of books based around children of different Greek God's set in modern time. They are writted by RIck Riordan. I read them because my son loves them and he wanted to share. I love them too.
And I have no clue about anything other than I wanted an easy way to get her pictures printed not at home.

UPDATE
Hello Hello !!
I've been constantly checking on the availability dates for the entertainment rate for Hojo's because I know that they add more dates to the list as the days go by, but unfortunately they are not offering them when I am there for my birthday. Because of this, and the fact that walking a bit farther would mean more strain on my mother's back and my father's gout (which he probably will have around my birthday because he gets flare ups often), we are going to stay at a closer hotel. We have enjoyed Desert Inn & Suites quite a lot and we have stayed there twice already and have enjoyed it both times even though many people have complained about it.
Also, my mother is trying to find any way possible for us not to drive because she is WAY too used to the convenience of flying to Anaheim from San Jose (a 45 minute flight opposed to a 6 hour drive). Unfortunately, the prices are kind of ridiculous ($189 round trip per person). We can make it back and forth on gas in my car for about $70 so there is NO way we're flying! Thats ridiculous. My mom is going to try to hold out closer to out vacation date to see if prices go down on flights because they have been. We'll see what happens ;)
One thing I'm so completely excited about going to DLR is getting these beauties : http://www.register123.com/event/profile/web/index.cfm?PKwebID=0x14618765f5
I can't wait to get some! I also want my mom & dad to experience Soarin' and Its Tough to be a Bug because they have never experienced it! Its so amazing that they haven't because we've been on so many trips together in the past 5 years!

Oooooh! I am glad I inspired you!!!:goodvibes I just replied to you over in my thread too, by the way. And I added in 2000 and 2001 pictures last night. I was saying over in my thread that scanning, cropping, editing all those pictures is such a pain, but worth it in the end because I need to start getting ALL of my stuff online or digitized in some way. It does dredge up a lot of memories, though - not all of them peasant! I know you work, you have family and Eric (that is how he spells his name, right?) to spend time with, and you are taking some classes now too, correct? So the scanning may be tough to fit in for you because you have a tight schedule. I found that once I got on a roll with it and got past 1984's shots, I couldn't be stopped. I had to continue on with it or it would never get done. Only trouble is, those DLR pictures from the decades past are only a small portion of my picture collection overall, and I don't know when I will get the incentive to scan those!:scared1:
Anyway, so on to your May trip. So I have been reading along, and the last I saw was that your mom wanted to fly but it is more cost-effective for you to drive. And your cousins are NOT going on this trip, right? But I assume Eric will be going since it's your birthday? I HOPE! Any plans for Valentine's Day, or are you guys kind of an anti-Valentine's couple? (Some couples really get into it and others don't care.)

It didn't really take too ridiculously long for me to get my photos out and scanned. I have 36 photos (I think) that I scanned. I dug them out of my photo box, scanned 'em and resized/edited them in about 3 hours. Though, I'm a bit of a cheater because I have photoshop and I know all the shortcut keys (or hot keys) to make the process faster. I'm thinking maybe I'll upload them right now if my teacher is really boring today, we'll see because I'm in class right now haha.
I'm taking a full load this semester, a part time job, and I see Eric (yes thats how you spell his name:)) about once a week so it is kind of hectic to get photo editing in my schedule. I am looking forward to my trip though.
I have a little bit more on the update on my TRIP! So the people who are going on my trip include me, my parents, my mom's brother, and his wife. Eric is not coming because he's going to Mexico to see his grandparents. He hasn't been there in 12 years !! I'm excited for him :)
I think we are though, officially driving. She is not excited about it because she doesn't like driving, but we are doing it! haha :)

So after looking through all my photos, I have huge gaps because partly I did not take the photos (as I was a kid at the time) and other people in my family had cameras and probably have the photos at their house.
This first picture is not from DL, but it is partially why I am in love with Disney; I was brainwashed from the start.

I'm totally guestimating in what order these pictures go based on how old I look and what my hair looks like in these pictures. OH and also, I was the HUGEST tomboy until I hit high school. I did not like dressing like a girl and acting like a girl and it is completely reflected in these photos (which I find hilarious because I am so ridiculously girly now!)
This is the only picture I can find from this trip. My parents would take random weekends off and drive to L.A. and go along the coast and enjoy the ocean.

You know, I'm not exactly sure, but I'm gonna guess the trip with my parents where I was wearing the cool mickey shirt was '93 because I remember getting excited about ToonTown being new. I think after that, the trip with the cousins was a year and half to two years later.

I am loving your pictures so far. Now we all know that you are the old lady of the bunch. I am so excited my husband today told me to start looking into a trip in December to Disneyland. This is the first time he has been the one to initiate the trip. So of course I started researching. I am thinking about either Hojo's or BWPPI. So is it too early to start a pre-trip report?:rotfl:

Keep 'em coming, Jasmine!!!
Oh, and guess what? I found my Disneyland pictures from the '70s!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: We are talking all the way back to 1972:scared1: There are not too many of them at all (like you, I think someone else on our trips did most of the picture-taking and my grandmother or whomever only took one picture or two on her camera, I suppose), but they are funny and scary at the same time. So different from the '80s and '90s Disneyland vibe, and 180 degrees difference from the DLR of today!!!! So tomorrow I will deal with the scanning and uploading of those. Stay tuned.
Anyway, do you have more pictures to share with us? I am especially interested in whatever you have during like 1996 - 1999, since I missed going to DLR those years. AND, if you have anything from DLR between 2002 and 2006, I would love to see those too, because, again, I missed going to DLR during those years and would like to see pictures from someone else's trip so I can see what I missed and what DLR looked like during those periods!!

Noooooooooooo! That can't be all of them! There have to be more!!! I like pictures!! I suppose your trip to DL in May will get here quickly enough and we will have lots to look forward to then! I really am looking forward to your pictures from May, and I will tell you why. Aside from the fact that your photos are always great and outstanding from a photographic perspective, and the fact that you guys are always having a blast, I have no immediate plans for any DL trips on the horizon. I told myself that I would play 2009 by ear and wait and see what happens money-wise, as I do have some other important stuff I have to come up with money for that takes priority. Right now, I am okay. Even after going through alllllll of those pictures I posted form DLR trips over the years, I have successfully managed to not get sucked in to making plans for another trip. I though I would be tempting myself too much, but no. I have not been bitten by the bug yet and I hope to stay that way. HOWEVER, those trips in my pictures had already happened. If I see someone else's pictures from a new trip in the next couple of months, that may push me over the edge. My birthday is in July - typically way TOOOO hot for me to go to DL nowadays - and I have not decided if I will bother going and getting the gift card or not. Once I see YOUR DLR pictures, that will be the thing that probably pushes me over the edge. If I see how much fun you guys are having and what kinds of things you are doing, that may prompt me to make a birthday plan for July. I am hoping to be able to resist temptation and stay focused on my other stuff, but I am waiting to see YOUR May pictures to help me decide one way or the other!!!!

I am the old lady of the bunch. To them I am the "ate" (pronounced AH-TAY) or 'older sister' of the bunch. I've been that way ever since we were young. I was the decider and protecter when we were all together; pretty much the mother hen! HAHA. OOO a December trip !!! How fantastic. It definitely isn't too soon to start a pre-trip report! DO IT!!!

Awww Sherry. Thats not too fun! You know, I think I have pics from a trip I took in '02 with my parents and Eric (Kaycee and her dad even stopped by for a day). I also have pictures from the weekend proposed to me, so I can post those too! Although that was only in '04 I believe! I was only 20 when he proposed to me. I can't believe it! Thats so crazy. We have been together for 8 years though, so it doesn't seem like it wouldn't make sense for him to propose then :)
I hope you do get to go to DLR soon. If not, thats okay too because there's gonna be plenty of disappointment with the renovations over at DCA anyway. I'll probably get to posting those older digitalized pictures too!

I about fell through the floor. We were at Costco earlier today and my DH said well how much do you think a trip to Disneyland in December will be and told me to start planning. This is the first time he has initiated a trip. I wasted no time. I started planning with him online almost as soon as we got home.

This is totally OT, but I'm usually this way, I just realized on how much I use the exclamation mark. I really need to cut back on it or people are going to think I yell all the time !! Haha :)
I'm so excited for you though that you will be going during Christmas; I LOOOOVE DLR during Christmas! I think its 10x more magical:goodvibes

You know it's funny but I love the exclamation point too. I don't think of it as yelling. I think of it as excitement. My heart about exploded, he has never initiated a trip to Disneyland. Honestly I normally make reservations and then tell him what days to take off. We went to Disneyland in December 2005 and it was one of our best trips ever. Now I hope that they do the HMH overlay this year. :rotfl:

Jasmine, you must have read my mind - seriously!! Just the other day, I was noticing how much I use the darn exclamation point in my sentences - and I don't even think I realized it, oddly. You know how you just kind of get used to doing something and don't even think about it anymore? It just becomes habit. And I know I am not yelling. But for some reason, I became exclamation point-crazy. I had never noticed you were using it a lot at all, but I know you are not yelling. We all know you are not yelling. I guess it just helps to use the ! to sort of emphasize a point, whether it be funny or excited or just something you're enthused about. Now that I think about it consciously, I think I sort of associate the ! in posts with being happy and eager and just really excited about DLR stuff. It is kind of on par with using the emoticons. I always see it is positive because it is usually coming from seemingly positive and upbeat people.
Oh, and yes, definitely post pictures from 2002 and 2004 or whenever. As far as I am concerned, there is room for all pictures from all years in your TR - past, present and future. And again, I didn't go to DLR at all between 1996-1999 and 2002-2006, so I am really interested to see anything from those years. Your engagement trip was the trip where you got violently ill from Tortilla Jo's, right? I assume the picture-taking stopped after the food poisoning set in?:rotfl2:
