Lanyards ~ Best Kind? Where To Buy?

We'll be making our first trip to Disney in Apr. 09. I just bought some pins and would like to give them to my kids for Christmas on a lanyard to start their collections for trading. I'm wondering what the best kind is to get and where to buy them. Is there a style that is more popular in the park? I've seen a couple of different kinds of lanyards, some have the plastic thing at the bottom (what is this for? tickets? fastpasses? I'm clueless..), some have medallions... We'll be on the DP, and I was wondering if everyone has to show their card for that. We'll be staying a the Poly, do they sell them there? I'm just full of questions. :confused3 Thanks!

Yes they do sell them at the hotels. but they also sell them at at Disney Shopping.

Keep an eye out for the sales as you have time before you go. Between now and April Disney Shopping will have a big sale on pins so keep your eyes posted on these threads. (I think it is around January?). Also, you could check out Ebay.

I did end up ordering two lanyards from Ebay.

I also ordered a few pin lots to start with.
