Hi Everybody...we will be joining you as well. I just stumbled upon this website recently and absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it
It will be myself, DH, DS (will be 7) and DD (will be 4). We have been regulars at DL and WDW for many years, now we've finally booked our trip on the high seas :woohoo:
We've been waiting patiently :rolleyes1 for our DD to be old enough and potty trained to fully enjoy the club areas. We'll also be traveling with family friends and their DS (will be 8). It's the first Disney cruise for all of us and we're all so excited :yay:

This will be our first Disney cruise, but the friends who will be with us cruise Disney every year. They made our cruise reservations for us while on board this week. I'm counting on my friend to be able to get Palo Resies.
I've poured over their cruise photos . . .and this board for the last year anticipating THIS sailing. I'm so excited, I could burst.

We have done all 3 types of sessions at Palos

i loved themall but i think my favorite was HIGH TEA.
Funny isnt it the least wanted one is my favorite......
but it was quiter and more relaxed and not so stuffy but stuffy enough you still felt well taken care of.

I am curious, some of the other crusie threads have "named?" their cruise...is this somthing we will do as well? I'd love to have a T-Shirt made for the kids with a name, sail date, etc.
Also, is this where we join in on a fish extender exchange? I've read a few threads on that as well and that sounds like so much fun to do :) Have you participated in this before?
dizzi
10-17-2008, 08:51 PM
OF COURSE we can name our thread anything we would like:goodvibes ......i just couldnt come up with any thing GREAT!:confused3 What i came up with DH laughed at.....so i thought i would let someone else.

Perfect! I can't think of a better way to pass the time. Honestly, around this house, the year revolves around our next Disney vacation :jumping1:
I am so glad I found this thread though...I have been driving DH crazy about this cruise and it is STILL 2 YEARS AWAY. Let's just hope I'm not posting about our cancelled trip in the future - due to a divorce because he just can't take it anymore :lmao:

Hello Everyone!
We are excited to be joining you on this cruise! This will be our fourth Disney Cruise (assuming we don't squeeze in another one...or two) before sailing!
I am Jen, I will be 36 (yikes, that's a long time off!) when we sail.
My husband, Ron will also be 36.
We have three children...
Brendan will be 11 (This will be his birthday celebration, as his b/d is 10/14)
Savannah will be 9.
Our baby Sarah will be 2.
We are in rooms 6634 (Secret Verandah) and 6635.:thumbsup2
We just got off the Magic (Double Dip) the second cruise out of dry dock. We had a wonderful time!!! I think we pretty much consider ourselves DCL experts at this point!
I would be very interested in participating in a FE (fish extender) exchange. We also did a "Secret Mickey" gift exchange on our cruise, and that was also a lot of fun. One other thing we found convenient was having custom lanyards made up to wear onboard to identify ourselves.
I am curious, some of the other cruise threads have "named?" their cruise...is this somthing we will do as well?
Yes, we must have a name and a logo. I have somewhat OK photoshop skills and *may* be able to make one, though if someone else is more skilled in the graphic arts dept, I will most definitely defer to them!:lmao:
I do have an opinion about our cruise name, so I'll throw it out to you guys. I propose we call it "Bring Back the Magic". I thought that appropriate, since not only are we the first cruise after the rumored dry dock, we are also the first cruise after the European cruises. This phrase is also a title of a lesser known Jimmy Buffett song. I am a big parrothead and I always incorporate Buffett tunes into my cruises (seee my trip reports!).
Speaking of, I have links to the trip reports I have written (and am currently writing) in my signature, if anyone is interested!
I look forward to getting to know you all!

Hi, welcome to our little group nenner1 :wave2:
I like the "Bring Back the Magic" idea. As for me, though, I don't seem to have a creative bone in my body, so I can't offer much on the logo :confused3
Also, can you tell us a little more about your "Secret Mickey" gift exchange and info. on having the lanyards made? That all sounds interesting and fun!

Thanks both of you for the warm welcome!!:)
Secret Mickey is very much like a "Secret Santa" gift exchange. Somebody would have to coordinate it. The volunteers would be chosen at random...it would go something like this:
dizzi has Dizzylanddeb
Dizzylanddeb has MouseMadness
MouseMadness has Nenner1
Nenner1 has dizzi
So once names have been drawn, you buy a gift for the person you "selected". On our cruise we set a limit of $25 (but most people went slightly over it). The coordinator also sent out a questionnaire to answer which was then sent to "your" Secret Mickey so they would know enough about you to pick out a gift you might like. Then the fun part, you have to figure out a way to deliver the gift anonymously...for instance have their stateroom host put it in their room or have the Palo Maitre'D present it to them at dinner/brunch/tea, or have it waiting at their table at dinner. (you would know a lot of this info from the questionnaire, we did it after 75 days when the reservations for Palo were set.) It was a lot of fun...and I will say I got a fantastic gift! My Secret Mickey bought each of us Lenox Christmas Ornaments, for the kids personalized mouse ears and for Ron and I birthstone Mickeys. She swore she kept it within the budget but I don't believe her!;) The gift I gave was (wait a minute! I'm not telling...I could give another one on this cruise!:thumbsup2 )
As for the Lanyards..again someone volunteered to coordinate. That person took donations from vounteers (I believe it was $10/per person and about 15 people volunteered to contribute. I just did a quick online price check and it looks like they would cost about $1.60-$1.70 each for a minimum order of 100, so that math looks to be about right). They ordered the lanyard itself and the clear plastic holders, but they printed the tags out on their computer. They really turned out nice. Here is a picture of Sarah modeling hers:
http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s183/nenner1/cruise/cruise060.jpg
Oooh, its so excited to be planning again! I was in a post-cruise funk there for a while!:rotfl2:

I like the lanyard idea, they look really nice. I've been poking around the cruise board for a year now and have gotten some ideas from others for door magnets and FE. I'm so looking forward to seeing all the creative ideas people have.

HEY GUYS.....
I have just sat here for an hour looking through pictures my DH just down loaded from our last cruise and vacation. i will post a couple later.
Gosh what a great time that was.
ANWAY........
My idea that my DH laughed at......since this is a WESTERN cruise i said HOW THE WEST WAS "WON"derful.......I know stupid as we are not even sailing on the WONDER but it was a q quick thought and he laughed actually about spewed Mountain DEw every whre and i gave up.
But BRINGING BACK THE MAGIC is great for me.........
If ya'll are HAPPY with it i can go and change it since i had the first post i think i can change it on the title page.
I had no idea about the supposed DRY DOCK i really didnt even realize this was the first back after Europe either.......
dizzi

WELCOME NENNER1........ WE dont live too far from each other!!!
what about 3 hours.
We were just in Tampa at Busch about 5 weeks ago.
dizzi
10-18-2008, 05:41 PM
IT was a more casual atmosphere.....and dont get me wrong still a dress code and I do love to dress up.
BUT i felt i could breath and didnt have to hold my stomach in.
I went thinking it was going to be just a tea and some biscuits Not the case.
The tea was awesome and i am not a big tea fan. There was many kind of biscuits and small finger food items and cheese and crackers and then when they took that away we thought it was done and then they brought out small finger food deserts.
It was not over filling but it was JUST RIGHT!
Comparative to brunch which was my least favorite brunch takes forever and i had itin a group from this disboard and they took us from our spot to the different areas to tell us about each thing that was on the bar (serve yourself) i coul dhave eaten in the time it took him to tell us about the meal.
Dinner is wonderful dont get me wrong i love it too, a great time great food, nice to dress up and not be in a dining room full of yelling kids......But it can take a while and usually by dinner time i am exhausted.
All in all the HIGH TEA was just my CUP OF TEA...........HEEHEEE:lovestruc

We had all had matching t shirt for our 1st cruise
we also had matching bracelts with our logo name on it.
we also had matching magnets with our logo on it for our doors.
so the limit to what we do is our time money and imagination!!!!:confused3

We just secured the last secret Verandah room AND an iside room across from it.

Veranda sounds wonderful. I won't know where our staterooms will be until my friend gets back on Monday. I asked her to book a Cat. 11 for DH and I and another for DS & DIL and Grandaughter. She has sailed Disney enough that I trust her to book a decent location. . . . now I can't wait to find out so I can start putting together door decorations. ;)

Hey all,
I'm Ron, Jen's (nenner1) husband. I'm the one pictured with baby Sarah and her lanyard. I've decided to join in on the fun and stop lurking and join the conversation a little bit. I think I've kept up with the thread from our previous cruise more than Jen, even though she did all the posting.
Dizzi, I'm actually jealous over your room(s). I tried to get one of the secret verandahs on deck 7, but the other day when we changed to this date our TA said the ones on 7 weren't available. Someone must've cancelled. Oh well, we'll be right under you. We'll try not to make to much noise. :rotfl:
We were on the boat just a couple of weeks ago, right out of drydock. Well actually we were supposed to be right out of drydock, but they squeezed in a 3 night cruise right before us. That was actually a good thing because they had quite a few kinks to work out before it was really ready. And actually it was still not quite ready when we got onboard, but it was ok. We actually swore we'd never do another cruise right out of drydock, but this date just worked out best for us. Hopefully they've learned from previous mistakes and they have all the work done before we set sail. :thumbsup2
I'm actually quite partial to the name "BRING Back The Magic" as opposed to the BringING back that was also mentioned. Bring Back The Magic is one of my favorite Buffett songs. BringING Back... is ok too, but IMHO that would work better for the cruise that is coming back from Europe. Bring back sounds to me like we want it back home were it belongs.
BTW, if you guys get a chance to check out Jen's trip reports, they are a great read with lots of information that could be useful to new cruisers. Really good photos, too! :thumbsup2
Thanks, Ron
dizzi

RON,
If by chance we get to DVC tomorrow and it ends up not being the best deal for us do you want the room???
If so we will be calling when i get home from work tomorrow around 3pm.
Let me know on here on do a private message and tell me how i can reah you guys if by chance we dont take the Secret Verandah Room.
Yeah i guess i did add an ING to that........I WILL go ahead and change it to that could you give me the words to the BUFFET song i would love to know them!!!!
Our last cruise i made shirts for us based on a song as well.

I've been tinkering with my photo program and came up with this cruise logo. I'm sure there are people who are more creative than I with a better photo program. We don't have to use it, but thought I'd share. There are lots of good ideas out there . . .let's get the creative juices going :goodvibes

Dizzi,
Here you go:
Bring Back The Magic
Written by: Jimmy Buffett and Will Jennings
Performed by: Jimmy Buffett
Peak Chart Position: Billboard Adult Comtemporary: #24;
Originally from the Album: Hot Water (1988)
Jimmy’s Notes:
Inspired by a Noel Rockmore painting entitled “Ride of the Beachcombers”. I bought the painting and sat with it for a morning in New Orleans and let it and the town talk to me.
Lyrics:
Chorus
Nothing can tear you apart
If you keep living straight from the heart
Though you know that you're gonna hurt some
The magic will come
If you keep living straight from the heart
you will know when to stop and to start
Once you see that no one really wins
Then the magic begins
Bring back the magic
Don't make life so tragic
Bring back the magic
Don't make life so tragic
Beachcombers ride oh children lost in the tide
Time's never at their command
Waves melt all castles of sand
Melts all castles of sand
Bring back the magic
Don't make life so tragic
Bring back the magic
Don't make life so tragic
Red sky at night such a sailor's delight
Red sky at dawn oh gypsy song's comin' on
Gypsy song comin' on
Song comin' on
Chorus
Nothing can tear you apart
If you keep living straight from the heart
Though you know that you're gonna hurt some
The magic will come
If you keep living straight from the heart
You will know when to start and to stop
Once you see that no one really wins
Then the magic begins
Bring back the magic
Don't make life so tragic
Bring back the magic
Don't make life so tragic

Lynn,
Thanks for having us in mind for that room, but I think with all I put our TA through (long story) we should just stay put. Afterall it is still a secret verandah. Many thanks, though. :)

Hey Guy's, hope you don't mind someone from across the pond joining in on your thread?
We have also booked this cruise:)
This will be our 3rd Cruise, first one on the Magic though. There will just be myself, Michelle and my DH, Neil. Our Daughters are grown up and no longer vacation with their parents, which is ok as someone has to stay at home and look after our 4 Labradors :)
We too have booked a secret verandah cabin.
Looking forward to getting to know you all:wave:

:cheer2: We are so happy to all be going. I just hope that my hubby really does make it home in time to go!!!!! I am a little nervous though, first time going on a criuse.. .....i am sure we are going to love it. Our kids are excited too!!!
dizzi
10-19-2008, 05:22 PM
I cant imagine you wont love it.
This will be our 3rd cruise so of course we love it.
I too was afraid i would spend all that money and then be dissatisfied.
Our family has done the parks many times but almost felt that for a minute we were outgowing them as my kids left at home are teenagers.
So this is an AWESOME alternative for us.
We get the GREAT DISNEY SERIVE and get a vacation to fit every need for all of us.
For Instance my DS 15 wanted nothing more than to go to CHNA for his High School graduation, and i was prepared to get him there as he had soem very rough years and we didnt think we would see him even make it to highschool, so for him to graduate is a BIG DEAL.
But after going on the Magic he said he would settle for taking a DISNEY CRUISe very year until he could not go in the TEEN STACK anymore in exchange.
So he obviously loved it.
AND A GREAT EXCHANGE FOR THE REST OF US!!!!!!!
This cruise will be his last.
We opted to take 2 last year insted of 1 each year as we wanted to do the one in CALIFORNIA this past MAY.

Hi everyone
Just dropping in for a quick hello and introduction. DW and I just came back from a 7 day Eastern on the Magic and rebooked onboard for Oct 16 2010. By saying we have just come back I mean we walked into our house not even 6 hours ago!
We met lots of very nice people and DIS helped out. By the time we sailed we had well over a hundred people, t shirts, FE exchange, tag games etc. You can't beat late night deck night drinks when the kidlets are in the clubs. Our little ones are 4 and 6 and we had a hard time pulling them out of the clubs :)
Only one hiccup this cruise was OMAR! The seas were a bit rough, we did St.Maarten and beelined for Nassau since the coast guard closed St.Thomas. By the time we got to Nassau we heard St.Maarten got about 20 inches of rain...
The Liberty of the seas docked beside us and we never thought to snap pictures of her :(
There were 4 ships docked in Nassau, tons of people.
Castaway Cay was awsome!!!! Can't wait to do it again

welcome. you give me great hope for our first cruise. I am glad your kids had fun. I will be traveling with two. they will be 10 and 12. Can anyone tell me, if you can use disney dollars on the ship? we have begun giving them to our kids already. Also, does anyone know if you can pre buy ship board credit? Thanks for all the info.

We are in cabin 7120, we did have 7620 but the system went crazy as it was the day they went on sale and it was so slow. So when we got back online we couldn't have that one as it was still on hold.
We have stayed in 7620 before and loved it:)
Are you booking with points for your cruise. We are DVC members also:)
Looking forward to planning this one, we only have 2 years!;)

WELCOME PINKS GIRLS HUBBY:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
We Sailed in October 2007 and we too had Really bad Seas i dont remmebr the name of the storm we were trying to avoid but i took seasick medication the whole time.....and we had one kid literally throw up at our table....(INTO A WINE GLASS) it was pretty awesome acomplishment i thought.
BUT we got to do St Maarteen and St Thomas BUT we missed CASTAWAY CAY.......We had to dock at NASSUA instead but did get to dock right beside the WONDER. We have a couple pictures of the 2 boats together......But i wish i had video tape the whole thing, it is soemthing i bet we will NEVER see again.
We were up on deck at TOPSIDERS eating breakfast and i said to my Dh look at the ship following us...It was a very small dot at first but the closer it camei siad to him" looks just like the MAGIC. oh my gosh i think tis the WONDER"... But the reality of it never sank in until later when they were announcing that indeed we would be joined byt he WONDER in port.
SO WE HAVE NEVER BEEN TO CASTAWAY CAY and have sailed 2 times.

I was looking back at some SECRET VERANDAH THREAD and found soem of your posts on there. Funny we were posting on the same thread early last year.
I had asked if these rooms would go quickly and i though the consisus was NO but indeed they sure do, i was surprised to get one. We are trying a new appraoch with 2 rooms one across from the other one an inside cabin.
ANd years we did use points but not for everyone. We dedicded to pay soem and use some we used one whole year and only about a 1/3 of another year.
WE ARE SOOOOOO HOPING that my MOM AND DAD WLL come with us and stay with the kids in the other cabin. In that case we might use our points for one of them and then only have to pay for one of them.
BUT we have almost 2 years to convince them they shoudl come, but i hava laready startee the seed planting process for themt o come as i told her about he cruise and invited them and i am going to send her pictures every day from our last cruise.
ALSO i plan to go to PORT CANAVERAL one day as we live fairly close and are up there often, and make a sign that say PLEASE COME WITH US....and take a picture of it............MAYBE EVEN do one with each of the kids! Have to ghit the post one day when the MAGIC IS THERE>>>>

It's funny that this thread has accounted for 3 of the 4 SV rooms. I wonder if the 4th will join us at some point?
We had originally booked a different cruise and had 7120. When I asked our TA to change us to this one I knew 7120 was booked, however at that time 7620 was still open. By the time our TA did her thing 7620 was gone and we wound up with a deck 6 SV. And then 2 days later Dizzi winds up with 7620. Someone must've had it on hold and cancelled. :confused3
Oh well, I think we'll enjoy the room even though it isn't on our favorite deck (7). :thumbsup2
I hear these starboard side verandahs offer great views of the fireworks. So if we are too tired to go up to deck 9 for the pirate thing, we'll still have a great view. :thumbsup2

although i would hate to Miss out on Mickey Flying>
But i could do what we did last time only better.......
Which was i watched Mickey Fly and then i found where the line wa going to begin for the Pirate Buffet and i stood thee until they opened it was the first person in the line and got a PLATE full of goodeis and returned to my room, only to find i had gotten some wires crossed with Dh andi sat in the hallway and ate until he got there.....
This time around i cantake my own jey and get food and go sit on the verandah!!

I think it is rather a hoot that our so far very small group has all 4 of the secret verandah cabins! They are a great value for the money...essentially, you get a full verandah for the cat 7 pricing. I actually like having that little bit of the solid hull on the one side of the verandah-it offers a bit more protection from the elements if it is raining and a bit of shade in the early morning sunrise.

You can buy credit. DW asked me before hand and I declined. All the stuff at Castaway Cay was on the card, wish we had it ahead of time but no matter we still would have spent it. It was nice to have enough left over to pretty much cover the deposit on this cruise :)

Port Canaveral is good for arriving a day early. We had over 30 of us at the Country Inn and Suites, made for a good pre cruise pool party.
I would do 2 things a bit differently. Instead of shopping for refreshments at Publix I'd go to the liquor store and I'd stay away from the KFC since I'm pretty sure Gordon Ramsay would shut them down LOL

All this talk about hot breakfast is making me hungry...especially when it is 36 degrees outside at my house :scared1:
Of course, the folks in London, ON probably think that is warm right now. I have family who live in North Bay and they are wishing that they were here in balmy Pennsylvania right now ;)
I also intend to spend more time relaxing on this cruise. I never had time to do room service on the 3 day cruises I have been on...might have to make that a priority this time!

The FE's were a great idea. Our group was small, only about 30 gifts to hand out so we were done in less than half an hour. We also had a tag game which was a magnet sheet stuck to your door. All you had to do is look at the door numbers sheet stuck on the back of it, cross you number off and stick it on someone else's door.
Some of the must have things to pack and there is a thread on it, was a good idea. We've kept some and tossed out others. We did have a cheap meash laundry hamper from the dollar store which lasted 2 trips to laundry and then we tossed it out but the canvas closet organiser and over the door organiser we will bring again since we're only there for a week we want everything close to use, not cluttered and we didn't want to search for everything in the drawers.

To be honest we noticed a big difference between Cape Canaveral and the Hyatt at MCO but what a rude awakening between sweating and needing a coat! I'm still in denial and wore a short sleeved shirt today LOL.
We drive through North Bay a few times a year, it's the halfway point to DW's parent's

Wow! This group is already growing pretty quickly. There are still some cruises that haven't even started a thread. :confused3
I was wondering if someone who has a post on page one or better yet post one, would be willing to edit their post to keep a list of who's on this cruise, room #'s, who's in the rooms with the members, etc... ?
Anyone... ? :)

OK, I know it's early, but a few questions on this fish extender. I know there's a thread out there with directions on how to make them, but I really don't have much talent when it comes to sewing or making crafts. For those of you who have made your own, is it really as easy as they say?
I noticed on ebay they are selling some really cute ones - I guess I could go that route. Otherwise, do they sell anything like this at a local bath/home store that I could buy (plain) and just customize myself (with some local embroidery, patches, etc.). What's my best bet??
I know I have 2 years to work on it, but with my pitiful skills it will take me that long to get something together :lmao:
PS:
I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS CRUISE!!!!!! :rotfl:

I've been looking forward to and planning on this cruise date for a year already . . .been lurking and learning on the DIS for quite some time. I am willing to compile names and room # unless someone else who has more "experience" on these boards wants to do it. It's nice to be involved in a "Magical" vacation

I'm pitiful when it comes to the crafty dept. too. I have wonderful ideas...but something is always lost in translation in the construction stage.:rotfl2: Mine was actually made by two different people, the bottom by one and the patches by another. It turned out great. I have cruised twice with one of the popular FE sellers on Ebay, Tiffany. She is Luvtheears on the Dis and Gradysmommy on ebay. She is wonderful. He work is fabulous and she does not charge an arm and a leg ($25 plus $5 shipping). Although you don't have to spend a lot. One person on our last cruise used a flag (no kidding. it had a little pocket sewn in the back of it), one used a plastic shower organizer, and a few just used tote bags. I know there are instructions for a no-sew version (using bias tape, I guess or glue gun?:confused3 ) But I just did not even attempt it....:lmao:

We bought a pirate chest at Michael's while some made their own and some bought them off of Ebay. Even a simple canvas carry bag with an ironed on patch of the cruise name works well.
My DW ended up volenteering, or is that volentold to be in charge of the FE gifts and also the built the navigator. The only thing I would suggest is someone starting a site that we can all have access to for all our personal info and keep it off of here

And I could start a website too for us all if you want ....to add the FE info, list of cruisers etc... someone on our past cruise made one for us and I thought it was a great place to put everything. Only people here on this cruise would have access to it though.

I am not even sure how that works as i have not been on one that long.

I had soemone else make my FE, from our first cruise and she did a great job. But they do seem easy enough to make. But i understand if you dont have the creative bone or not enough timei woud buy oneoff ebay or use soemthign else. It is going to be near to Halloween you could maybe purchase soemthing on sale after this Halloween to use.

As far as a website, it is very cool, but it doesn't really cut back on what goes on here. We had one on our last cruise, and it got a fair amount of traffic, but really almost all discussions stayed on the DIS. A lot of us forgot to check the cruise website but it was easier to keep up with the thread here due to the email notifications.
Multiple threads really aren't a huge issue. There is a link to the new one when you finish the old one, and whoever has the first post (with all the info), if that's you dizzi, all you do is start a new thread with the first post and all the info (copied and pasted) when the old thread gets close to the 250 pages.
It actually takes a while to get to 250 pages. Our last cruise was very active, but it was the exception not the rule that we went through 20 pages in one day. We had 4 chapters in the end (of course the thread is still going).
Here is an example of the Page 1 from our last cruise so you can see all the useful info we had listed there: (Hope this helps!)

~~ IT IS ALMOST TIME, DOUBLE DIP DELIGHTERS!! ~~
Hello, fellow cruisers! You have arrived! You have found the "GO-TO" place with many resources you'll want to be familar with to stay in the loop and join in on the fun! Check back here on Page 1 from time-to-time as I'll keep updating Post 6 with new things and current stats.
I have volunteered to be the Cast Roll Call owner and the go-to person to for updates and additions to our cruisers list. Here's some good info on that as well as other items that will be of interest to many joining us on our Disney Double Dip Delight Cruise!
* Cast Roll Call List Submission *
At this time, I've included the following data fields in our cruise database, which will have some content uploaded to our own website:
DIS Name:
Real Name:
Fellow Passengers/Cabin Mates & ages of kids:
Celebrations (http://www.disdoubledip.com/forum/viewtopic.php?showtopic=57):
Dining Seating (Main or Late):
Stateroom:
Home Country/State/City:
Going to WDW prior to the Cruise?:
Friday Night Pre-Cruise Hotel Choice:
Doing a Back-to-Back cruise from 9/24-27?:
Doing a Back-to-Back cruise from 10/4-11?:
If you desire, please send any of the info above to DoubleDip09-2008@hotmail.com. Obviously no one would be obligated to provide all or any of this info, but if you already had it out there on our first thread, I've added it to the spreadsheet. If you have not yet posted any of this info about yourself and would like to do so, feel free to PM me with the scoop or see my signature block for the email addy to submit your info. I do want to make it clear that if you email me at the Hotmail account, your personal email addy will be kept private. It will not be posted to the website! As newbies join us, I'll get them added to the Cast Roll Call List and welcome them to our cruise so they know I captured what they submitted!
http://www.websmileys.com/sm/comp/comp25.gif Our Own DDD Website!
Update 9.19.08: Now that we are 7 days away from sailing and vacations are starting, we have locked down the website so no new users can be added to the website. We felt this was a necessary precaution since we cannot monitor who new users are to ensure they are truly a part of our group.
Brandie's (Fizzgig) DH, Jeremy, has graciously volunteered to create our own DIS Double Dip website!! Jeremy, Brandie, and I will work together to periodically get the updates onto the site. This website contains some chat threads related to specific topics, a group and personal calendar, and so much more! You can also include pictures of yourself or your family in your profile (as the avatar) so we know who to run to in the Disney Cruise Terminal! So please sign up to get access to the site, and check it out!!
To establish an account on the website http://www.disdoubledip.com, at the home page you will see a portlet to allow you to log in. Just below the empty fields, there is a link where it says "Don't have an account yet? Sign up as a New User". Click on "New User", fill out the required fields, and it will send an email to the site administrator and automatically email you back. Go into the email that you received (you may need to check your Junk/Spam Folder for it), and select the link within the message to activate your account. Our webmasters will keep an eye on who's requesting an account as well.
princess: Kids' Meet Forum
Also on our DIS Double Dip website is a Kids' Meets Forum. It's a great way for the children to interact and make friends before meeting them in the cruise terminal or in the clubs!
As a precaution, the Kids' Area on DISDoubleDip.com has controlled access. In order to gain access to it, you must contact Brandie (Fizzgig) with the parents' username and the kiddo's username on the DISDoubleDip website. She and her DH will then get you and your child/children access to the Kids' Meet Thread.
Note that if you only have a single household email account, then that's the only username to get added to the Kids' Area Forum. So in that case, there will be no distinction between a kiddo's account and a parents' account for that family.
Rest assured that this forum will be watched *closely* for any inappropriate content. Either the parents or our webmasters (Jeremy and Brandie) will handle the inappropriate content. The "officer" of course will depend on what the situation entails.

09.14.08 UPDATE: See Erik's post (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=27572326&postcount=870) regarding lanyards!!!
On the day of our cruise departure, many of you will receive your own Double Dip Delight customized lanyard and personalized name badge!
Thanks to our lanyard leaders, Erik (tig82174) and Hadley (NHDisneylover), their solicitations led nearly 300 of us to want to proudly wear our logo-inspired lanyard. So if you signed up for lanyards by the April 1 cut-off deadline, they have them waiting for you with your name on it!!
A big "Thank You" goes out to our lanyard team sponsors who have made it possible for us to receive our keepsakes for free. The following are the DISers who have funded this memento:
anewmac
AQW
Buckeye Gal

If you are signed up to receive lanyards, be aware that these come with a simple plastic badge-holder sleeve that will hold the nametag and your KTTWC. If you like the large pouches like you see on some lanyards that holds things like a wad of cash or a folded up Navigator, you'll need to bring/buy this yourself.
Finally, "THANK YOU", Erik and Hadley (and their families), for all the time you've put into this special keepsake! They've already designed the lanyards, placed the order, and designed the nametags. In the coming months, they will continue their efforts by producing the removable name badges for us, stuffing them in the plastic sleeve, and organizing them by family(s)/friend traveling together.
http://bestsmileys.com/music2/19.gif '80s Party Night!
Well Disney can take away the 80's Party night, but they can't take the '80s groove out of the Double Dippers!
Get stoked! All you mall chicks, pull out your leg warmers, stirrup pants, shoulder pads, and big sweater. Then, dress yourself up with jelly bracelets, a banana clip, and 4" hoop earrings. For all the studs out there, find that back pocket comb, Ocean Pacific T-shirt, shades, and parachute pants. It's time to get ready to break dance!
On "One Hit Wonder" night (or it may now be called "Rock Star"), we Double Dip Delighters will be turning the Rockin' Bar D into an '80s club. Now don't have a cow if you forget to pack your Members Only jacket, Izod, or Jordache threads. Just join us at the Rockin' Bar D and party hardy! It's going to be a totally tubular event! Read what everyone is saying about it in the "Get-togethers on the Boat (http://www.disdoubledip.com/forum/index.php?forum=6)" Forum.
http://bestsmileys.com/eating1/10.gifGroup Palo Brunch
Many were interested in joining some of our DIS friends for brunch at Palo, so Julie ("skoi") graciously volunteered to request the big room in Palo for Monday, our first day at sea.
On August 26, Julie received confirmation that the people in our group who signed up with her early this year got the room!!! She has already contacted everyone who will be participating to tell them the great news!
RESERVATIONS ARE AT 10:30 AM ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 29!

Several of us have mentioned that we've taken some excursions off on our own that were not sponsored by DCL. Be sure to check out our website (http://www.disdoubledip.com) for some of those suggestions as well as posts on this thread.
Castaway Cay (Sunday 8:30 am - 2:30 pm & Friday 9:30 am - 5:00 pm)
The DCL site has all the excursions for Castaway Cay (http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/dcl/en_US/shoreEx/landing?name=CastawayCayExcursionsLandingPage) listed on their website.
It has been validated by those who could book at T-105 that the traditional offer by DCL for a second day discount of 75% (http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/dcl/en_US/reserve/specialOffers/detail?name=CastawayCayTwiceDetailPage) for the Double Dippers on equipment rental included in the Castaway Cay Getaway Package will be available to us as well. This discount only gets applied if you sign up for the package prior to sailing. So be on the lookout for our cruise to be included in the discount opportunity.
Grand Cayman (Tuesday, 7:45 am - 4:30 pm)
UPDATED on 06.11.2008: It's official that we are NOT going to Costa Maya.
Excurisions offered by DCL for Grand Cayman (http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/dcl/en_US/shoreEx/landing?name=GrandCaymanExcursionsLandingPage) are found at their website. As you plan your day, keep in mind that you have to tender to the island. This process takes from 15 - 30 minutes, depending on time of day and demand. At the drop-off point, there is a shopping market to walk around.
Cozumel (Wednesday, 8:00 am - 6:30 pm)
Excurisions offered by DCL for Cozumel (http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/dcl/en_US/ports/excursionListing?name=CozumelExcursionsLandingPage ) are found at their website.

Update 9.19.08: Stella has distributed the maps via personal email to everyone who contacted her to be noted on the maps. Stella...these are AWESOME! I'm so impressed! Thank you!!!!
Are you wondering if you have DISer neighbors (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=25952580&postcount=3433) near your stateroom? Well, Stella (FinallyBoughtDVC) has kindly volunteered to put together deck plans showing where DISers are located, deck by deck!
If you would like to have your cabin noted on the "Treasure Map", please PM Stella with the following information:
Stateroom Number
DIS Name
Names of those in the cabin (if desired)
Ages (if desired)
E-mail address to which the map can be emailed
She will continue to compile the list until late August so it is as updated as possible. Then she'll email the list out to those who have opted to be listed on the Treasure Map.
http://www.vpsingles.com/pics/conga.gifDIS Meets
On embarkation day, we certainly want an opportunity to meet everyone live and in the flesh! So, we'll be meeting in the Promenade Lounge on Deck 3 starting at 3:00 pm on Saturday and will continue until we are summonsed to begin the Muster Drill at approximately 4:00.
Once the Muster Drill is over (approx 4:30), you have just enough time to return to your cabin to drop off your life vests so you can get you and your friends/family positioned in your desired location for the Sail Away Party, which begins around 5:00.

Denise (rkandmjsmommy) and Crissi (crissichef) will be making arrangements with Shutters once we board to get scheduled for a DIS Family Photo!! We really hope that you and your family will take the time out to come!!!! They will be shooting for 3:30 on Saturday, which will be during our Meets. If this is not possible, you should check a DIS Message Board found throughout the ship for the confirmed date, time, and location.
It would be wonderful if everyone who has purchased or made a DDD logo t-shirt would wear it in the picture. By no means is it a requirment, but it surely will make us look even more like a family! :-)

http://www.sscecu.com.au/images/snail_mail.gif Shipping a Package to the Magic
Our dear DIS friend, Shirley, has posted info on ALL the specifics (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=19807195&postcount=1) around shipping a box (note that is singular...one box) per cabin to the ship.
I'll note the address here, but PLEASE make sure you check back to her post, which I've included a link for above and below, to ensure you adhere to all the lastest regulations. This includes the size and weight of the box, packing list, and more. Remember...you need more info on shipping a package than just the shipping address!!!
Address your package(s) to:
IDS
c/o Magic/Ground Services
<Guest Name / Stateroom #> (GTY, if you don't know what it is when you send the package)
9001 Marlin Street
Cape Canaveral, FL 32920
In the bottom left corner of the top of the package put the following information:ATTN: HOUSEKEEPING. Also note the Sailing Date, 9/27/2008, on the box.
Again, DON'T overlook reading Shirley's post (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=19807195&postcount=1). You don't want to risk the package not being in your cabin when you arrive!!! To quickly find this particular section about shipping in her post, once her post is showing on your monitor, press "Ctrl+F" and search for "WHERE I CAN SHIP BOXES". That will immediately take you to where you want to go!

Walk or Run?
Need to burn some dessert calories? Do it with friends!!
There are several people who are interested in getting together in the mornings to walk or run as a group on Deck 4 or 10. You ARE on vacation, so there's no commitment or pressure to show up every day, yet more than likely, you can have a walking or runninig buddy and have an opportunity to spend time with your new friends if you do come.
Unofficial start time of the walkers is 7:45 am, but of course you can show up anytime you pull yourself out of bed and grab your coffee! The unofficial start time for the runners will be decided by the group soon, so check back. Feel free to chat about it on the DISDoubleDip (http://www.disdoubledip.com/forum/viewtopic.php?showtopic=613).

Cool, will you please continue to keep up the list as Our numbers grow?
if we spread out what we all are doing we can be more organized instead of one person doing it all. Then we can all be involved too.
Thanks

Nenner1 has written the next installment of our last trip report "Back To The Island". Check it out, it's great!:cool2: Actually all three are great, great pics from around the ship and ports, not to mention she is a terrific writer. Check out the links on the bottom of her posts. They kinda make you feel like you were there. ...well maybe that's because I was. :confused3

Wow! That is amazing! As I was scrolling down the post, my DH walked by and couldn't belive how much time and effort everyone had put into that cruise. Needless to say, he was really interested to see all the "extras" we can do to make it even more fun and special. And, by the way, he ended up going back and reading all the posts from the beginning ;)
I'd be happy to help out, too, if I can. I don't get onto the board everyday, but I check it out as often as I can :)
Also, did we decide on a cruise logo yet? (DizzylandDeb did a nice job) Anymore ideas? Anyone creative out there? I'm not good with that sort of thing, so I don't have much to offer.
and yes, the Double Dip Delight logo is Fantastic :cheer2:

I know this is part of YOUR HARD EARNED MUCH NEEDED VACATION, so i will give it 100%
As far as a logo i did like DIZZYDEBS...what i could see of it, can it be made bigger and can we add dates etc to it?
i am NO GOOD WITH that kind of thing so any one else who is you guys have fun with that.
Dont know what you guys ran into for your cruise NENNER1 and livingis2me, but the cruise i ended up canceling we were having trouble finding someone to make t shirts for us as it had Disney characters on our logo so they ended up just making them, themselves with that logo. Like Iron on printed out from own printer. So we want to keep that in mind becasue of copyright issues, did you guys run into anything because of your Mickey head??????

I can make the logo larger. It started out HUGE, then I shrunk it down. It has the dates on it, but kind of got lost cuz it's so small now. I'll also tinker around and try something new . . .I've been reading the door sign thread and getting all sorts of ideas from that. I'll work on it tonight when I get home. And if anyone else has ideas, lets see them too. It'd be fun to see what we come up with.

Oh yes it does have dates on it....sorry my bad eyes i think.
Another thing we might want to consider, is the color, it seems fine to me, but when we start wanting to add it to TSHIRTS i am not sure but some may want to put it on LIME GREEN tees so just make sure it wont clash with the LIME GREEN!!!:thumbsup2

Good point. My other idea was using a picture of the ship with a beach background (there are several examples on the door thread) . . .kind of like the logo the "Pinky's" had for their cruise last week . . .but different of course!
I've downloaded lots of pictures and fonts . . .I'll see what I can come up with.

With the t-shirt thing I'm pretty sure everyone who wanted one made their own with a iron-on transfer they made themselves. We did not do the shirt thing. We just wore our lanyards with the logos around to identify that we were part of the group.:thumbsup2
But the iron-on thing would most likely be the easiest way to do it logistically. Most of the people that had them wore them at embarkation, so you'd want to make sure you had them before you left for PC. And having them made, shipping, sizing, etc. could get expensive.:scared1: You'll want to save as much $ as possible for your drinks of the day, excursions, spa, palo, drinks of the day...:goodvibes

Isn't he great?
All I will add is that besides the double dip part of it, this was a Western cruise we went on so anybody looking for ideas of things to do in port, we did somewhat unique excursions....so you might get ideas from that (I haven't gotten that far yet, though!)
Can't take credit for that either, although I was supposed to be the one to make the logo for that cruise I got beat to it...;)
As far as a logo i did like DIZZYDEBS...what i could see of it, can it be made bigger and can we add dates etc to it?
I think it is perfect as a tag for our signatures on the board!:thumbsup2
We could have another logo also that has a "picture" {clip art} on it for T-shirts and magnets.
i am NO GOOD WITH that kind of thing so any one else who is you guys have fun with that.
I am fairly good at that kind of thing, I have two issues, program and time. I had a trial version of Photoshop that has now expired. I haven't found Gimp user frendly nor does Paint.net have the kind of options Photoshop does, so right now I do not have a Graphic program that is of use to me. I do have Paint Shop Pro somewhere but I need to install it and I have never used it before so I will have a bit of learning curve. I also have a 5 month old, older children that participate in activities ( youth football, youth cheerleading, competitive dance company, etc.), and on top of that I work nights (graveyard) so that explains the lack of time factor....:rolleyes1
I however do have an idea I've been tossing around in my head. It is based on a older Castaway Cay magnet that includes a Mickey Head sunset and the ship...I just need the spare time to work it all out. (Just going through my graphics is a chore, I have 3,722 files (in 127 categorized folders) of strictly DISNEY clip art...:scared: 1.83 Gigs......Most of it is DCL, too..:thumbsup2
Actually some people did, and some people didn't. Quite a few people got T-shirts and etc. from Cafe Press, but others did have a copyright issue. It did not have much rhyme or reason to it, as people were getting things in the beginning and the end, so I think it was luck of the draw when dealing with Cafe Press. There was another company a couple of people used and did not have an issue. Also my FE gift was personalized (I'm not saying what cause I will probably do them again) and I had no issues at all with a Mickey Head graphic printed on them. A lot of people did make their own and they came out really nice!
My idea has lots of blue and lime in it if I could just translate it from what is in my head into a graphic...
Good point. My other idea was using a picture of the ship with a beach background (there are several examples on the door thread) . . .kind of like the logo the "Pinky's" had for their cruise last week . . .but different of course!
I've downloaded lots of pictures and fonts . . .I'll see what I can come up with.
We should stay away from using an actual photo. It should be clip art (or "cartoonish"). Real photos can have clarity issues and really don't resize well. Of course the image will have to be made very large intially so it can be shrunk down..any image you have to blow up will get pixellated.
WOW i was just looking at my ticker and i need to get working on my itenerary for my WDW trip.
It is a great time to be down here...right before Thanksgiving....the weather is gorgeous! :thumbsup2

Geez....I have made no less than 10 of those rotating tickers cause I keep messing up on them and I just realized my WDW one had a ship on it as a slider instead of the monorail I had intended. Ay.

Hello Everyone:
I am Mike, Dizzi's DH. Just thought I'd take a quick moment to say hello and let you all know I am lurking in the shadows. I will try my best to keep up with the thread, and I might even occasionally post. I certainly hope I do not get as addicted to this board like my DW, Lynn.
We have met some great people from this board on past cruises. It is so much nicer to go on a cruise and already know a bunch of folks.
Take care,
Mike
P.S. I'll try to spruce up my signature sometime so it fits in better on this board, but for now, you'll have to settle for my motorcycle.

I think that if we wait just a little while we can come up with a great original logo. There are some people on the disboards that do that kind of thing all the time. One of them is bound to join us sooner or later. Jen is really excited to put one together and will as soon as we get some extra time. She has some great ideas floating around in her head
Lets make sure we have the best logo possible so we really stand out on the boards. :thumbsup2

Is it ok if I use this too?? Is everyone generally open on this board about people using their ideas to make magnets and such, or do we need to inquire about use each time? :confused3

Yes, please use the design if you wish. I liked the picture as well and thought it suited the "magical" feeling. I agree it would make a nice door magnet for our cruise.

Welcome Mike...we're glad to have you join in the conversation!
My husband also got tired of asking for the daily thread update, and followed along on our last cruise, this time he is posting more than me!
So has anyone been thinking about excursions yet? Never too early I say. I know we are going to do Stingray City again, the snorkeling at the Barrier Reef is out of this world! In Cozumel not so sure yet but I can tell you what we *aren't* going to do, and that's venture out on our own. We rented a car and drove the island last time. Mostly, it was a great experience we just don't care at all for the annoying, pushy people downtown. I really want to do Xcaret, but I've read where the Disney excursion doesn't leave enough time to really spend over there on the mainland. As far as KW, that is like a second home for us.. Plus we will be hitting all three Maragritavilles in all three ports...The Grand Margaritaville Tour I call it.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

I have not even started to think about excursions. I will when we come back off our December vacation though.
I have just been messing around with the graphic above, as I have access to photoshop on this laptop and came up with this:-
It's just rough and needs a lot of fine tuning.

Okay......
This is one of those touchy ?s i think which is probablly why it wasnt answered.
The correct answer i think, is...if it looks original
like someone spent time making it...you should ask.
Although, the wrong answer is, if they post it on the internet.......it seems to be fair game and i dont think making a magnet from a picture on the internet is very harmful.

As far as the pics you guys used, you are fine using those.
Th itinerary maps are everywhere, no one person "created" those tmk as they came from disneycruise.com originally. IMO if they are there, they are fair game...like Lynn said!
Kari's (rumblytumbly's) stuff which the "blue" picture is (I always thought it was purple...but I've been told I'm deaf and colorblind so take that with a grain of salt!)...anyway her stuff, she has said a million times have at it with her designs, that is what they are there for. That's the only thing about that pic, it is very nice but it has been around forever. We've already used it for magnets twice now.
We did have problems making T'shirt transfers on designs smaller than 8 1/2 by 11, so they all need to start that size and then get "shrunk". If you make one smaller (like the map) keep in mind, you cannot resize it larger... it will get pixellated and look fuzzy and distorted. I tired to make an itinerary map magnet for our last cruise but never managed to find one bigger then about 4 x 6, I'm sure I have that one in the bowels of my disney folders though. (hth)
We had lots of great submissions on our last cruise, it was really hard to decide which logo to use. We had everything from elaborate photoshop stuff to basic word art. In the end we did an online voting poll and the winner took all!:thumbsup2 It was actually a lot of fun to have the whole contest thing going on. We did wait a lot longer to get to the whole logo thing, we only were about 8 months out when we did that so we had more pppl to vote, not sure how well voting would work with 10 of us, lol!:rotfl: Not that I'm saying we should wait that long, don't get me wrong!:rolleyes1
(I might need that long to get something done I just can't get anywhere with any of my side projects right now!)
tty'all later, Jen

Do I hear "~Palo brunch~." Two years away and it already sounds great!!! We are glad that we were able to use Carol also. We had felt bad with the last cruise that she spoke to us several times and never got anything out of it. We wanted to switch to her but were "trapped." LOL... R
Anyone in for a run tonight? How about a food run?
Oh boy... Not sure if our new friends here are up for a run or not, we should get their input first. HEY EVERYONE, on our past thread we would pick a topic/subject and post pics of it. Hence, if we were to do a run on food, whoever wanted to participate would post a pic of food (Disney or otherwise) on the thread. Any thoughts???? R

Count us in. We are Jack and Lisa and just finished our first cruise, which was great. We booked onboard and wished we had booked two cruises onboard. We will be on the eastern in Oct 2009 and just booked this cruise. We were on the double dip with Nenner1. We enjoyed the FE and the lanyards, they were great ice breakers. The FE distribution helped us to find our way around the ship and learn the floor plan. I hope we will be doing both on this cruise. We are in stateroom 7548. We will be 62 and 56 at the time of this cruise. We are big disney fans, so you can guess that we are young at heart.
Look forward to meeting more Dis people on this cruise, you are the best.
Jack
Hi Jack! (And Lisa!)
I'm so sorry we never got the chance to meet on the cruise!
It was so strange how many people I never met, yet we ran into the same group of others over and over!
Well, maybe this time, right?:rotfl:
Great to see you guys joining in, this is going to be a great group!:thumbsup2

Do you know where you are going on your Mystery Trip?
I was thinking about Iceland...but it may turn out to be a mystery of eastern seaboard day trips as my DM told me today that she wants to go to the German Christmas markets next December. Two European adventures in one year are definitely not going to fit in the budget :sad2:
I did, however, like her idea and I am warming up to the idea of packing winter clothing for that trip :)
:thumbsup2 What a difference a week makes !! I posted on page 6 and now its on page 17 !!

My DM loves to travel. She is usually along when DD and I go to Disney during the summer but we decided that we want to do something different next year. My DF is always going on trips to commune with nature (hunting in Canada, fishing in Alaska, ...) and never can seem to sit still for guided tours and the such that she likes.
We found a great guided tour for next December that is based in Innsbruck for 6 nights and goes to markets in Munich, Salzburg, and Rothenburg and it was only about $1500.00 per person including airfare.
By the way, my DM likes the Wonder and Magic, too ;)
