As you may or may not know, our camera did not make the trip back from WDW with us in September :headache: and I am now in the market for a new one. I had a Canon Rebel XT but I'm not sure what to replace it with. I've basically narrowed it down to two cameras but I am very undecided and would love opinions.

I am definitely NOT a knowledgable photographer. I bought a DSLR because I liked being able to take my pictures quickly (the shutter speed) and I wanted a better (bigger) zoom lens than what point and shoots offered at that time. Without a doubt I did not use my camera to its' potential but I loved it and used it a lot.

So here are my two camera choices. The two cameras I am considering are the newer version of my old camera, Canon Rebel XSi (along with the kit lens and a 75-300mm lens) and a point and shoot that just came out, Canon Powershot SX10 IS. There is a big difference in price (but I don't want price to be what I make my decision on) but what I am really wanting is something that will let me take my pictures quickly (so my kids are still in the frame when it is taken ;) ) and a good zoom. If you have any camera knowledge and understand all of the technical stuff that I clearly don't, please help me out!

TIA for all of your help!

You will not be happy if you go down to a p&s. That said, if you are starting over, why not consider other brands?

I should have said that I am open to other brands in my previous post. I do want to stay at the entry level DSLR cameras though. I really couldn't justify anything better than that.

I had another lens with my first camera but it was also stolen with my camera  .
