We are new members and received our confirmations yesterday. In the envelope was a paper the about "Travel Protection Plan". We are not familiar with this and have not really seen much talk about it here on the boards. Could someone fill me in on this and do most members take this out?? What is the feeling on this? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

We considered it once when my grandmother was near death, and we were afraid it would interfer with our Millennium vacation. AFter looking into it, we decided it didn't do much good, because your points are still gone. I haven't heard much positive here either.

Thanks for the info, Diane. Appreciate it very much. Just wondered about it--usually that type thing is not a very good value, but was just wondering what everyone else thought. Thanks again.

We just returned from our first DVC visit as members.

I purchased the travel insurance since we live in Minnesota and you never know what type of weather you will have during your travels.

We ended up having to spend our first night layed over in Chicago due to an air traffic controller delay (we missed our connecting flight by 15 minutes). Lost one night at BWV and had to pay for the hotel room in Chicago.

I will be filling a claim with the insurance company today and I will keep you posted as to my success.

I was told by member services it only pays you $5 per point currently. So a one hundred point reservation would reimburse you $500. I was not impressed with the Travel Guard people. I called and asked what the amount per point was on a claim and they refused to tell me, they said I had to call Disney. Disney told me to contact travel guard, but also gave me the $5 figure mentioned above. It is hard for me to put any faith in an organization (travel guard) that can't even provide information on their product.
Hope you have better luck,
