... I just wanted to say you have a beautiful home. :flower3: We just returned from our first trip as DVC members. (Developer points for our stay... couldn't stay at our home) It was me, DH and dd (6 months) and my parents. We had a 2 bedroom in Grandstand. Since we only did one park day we had plenty of time to kick back and enjoy SSR. And enjoy it we did! We had such a great time taking leisurely walks with the baby, taking her to the pool to play in the "fountain"... mom and I enjoyed the spa... the "boys" enjoyed a round of golf. Great first time trip for our family... thanks for sharing your home with us!

I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay at SSR. I personally love SSR and have chosen to stay there at each of our trips even though we visit other DVC's. It's just so gorgeous and tranquil. I love the spa and proximity to DTD. We Love taking the boat to DTD for a meal or just to hang out. The staff is always friendly. We love High Rock Springs pool. The golfing is excellent. It's a beautiful resort.:wizard:

We have a stay planned at AKV, our other home resort but will probably add some SSR days to it.

OT but you and I share a dream of a DVC at GF. I was just telling the hubby this weekend that if they ever do a DVC there, we have to purchase!

THANK YOU!! We are accustom to having our resort trashed on the boards, so nice for a change to hear someone say something positive. Glad you had a great stay. Thanks for a nice post.

Thank you! As previously mentioned, SSR tends to get a lot of bad press here on the boards. Thanks for taking the time to post a "good" report!!!!

--although the devious side of me hopes no one else likes SSR and I can have it all to myself :rotfl:

I'm glad you enjoyed SSR, we love it too! Our trip next year will be our first visit to AKV, but we're going to add a couple of nights at SSR after the Wonder cruise. That's the best of both worlds!

Thank you for your kind words on our "home" at SSR, as this is something we're not used to seeing on the DIS boards.

You too have a very lovely resort at AKV! AKV has the most beautifully themed rooms I've ever seen in a DVC resort. You really have a gem!

That is the beauty of this resort. No matter how full it is, you feel like its all yours. SSR is by far our favorite.

I loved it too!

The only reason we bought at AKL is because that is where the 100 point buy ins were being offered.

I really wanted SSR as my home, and after staying there I can say I definitely would do it different if I had the chance. I loved it.

It was so nice and quiet and I never saw anyone else around until I went to the pools. We could've sworn that we were at the resort by ourselves!!

We saw the AKL models and the grounds of the resort while we were on our trip (we bought sight unseen) and really liked that as well, but SSR was gorgeous!

So nice to hear that you had a marvelous stay at SSR. As others have said, our home resort generally does not get such nice publicity. It's a wonderful place.:goodvibes

to add to our beautiful resort...

The Tree House Villas!

Thank you for the great report!
Seems every resort has something that really makes
it stick out from the others...and now we at SSR...
HAVE OUR OWN TREE HOUSES!

DH and I love our resort SSR. We are currently finishing up our trip for 5 nights and All Star Sports 10/12 to 10/17. My DH used to think a studio and a all star rooms was just the same. We miss our resort and a studio. Still had a great trip and now own 175 points at BLT our second home. :thumbsup2

I'll add that when we received the book on the DVC properties the one that made my DH stop and say "Where is that? I want to stay there!" was the pic of SSR looking towards DTD. :goodvibes

Thanks for posting a nice comment. DH and I love it too. Actually everyone that has ever joined us at SSR falls in :lovestruc ! February I'm bringing them to BWV and while I know they will love the location, I'm afraid they will miss the upscale rooms and Artist Palette which is so convenient and so good!:)

Like a couple others, we'll be making our first trip home very soon. We can't wait. This was the one resort we loved at first sight. Thanks for sharing your kind words.

We're making our 3rd trip to our SSR home in March. It's our spring break getaway. No parks, just lots of good food and relaxation. Our teens love the short distance to DTD since they spend a fair amount of time at DQ and prefer fast food to a sit down meal - yuck. They still enjoy sleeping in so DH and I love to take the walking path to OKW for breakfast before they even hit the shower! The path goes right past the THV so we're excited to get back there to check it out.

Glad you liked it. We own at SSR and I have only stayed there once but I really like it there. LBV is my favorite golf course at WDW and I've played them all. The fact that the Spa is there and DTD is right across the lake are both big pluses. Add THV to the mix and I think in time people will really begin to appreciate SSR. Do they have the stunning resorts like VWL or BLT? No but there are plenty of rooms so its easy to book and there are a good variety of things to do near by that don't cost the price of admission to the parks. No buyers remorse here.

Where is this path? I'd love to walk to OKW in Jan.

Nice post MFan. DW and I will stay at SSR for the first time since buying DVC in May. We have a 2BR and will be sharing it with my sister and her husband. Neither have been to WDW ever. I think we are more excited for them than we are our first trip home. :goodvibes

We had the choice of SSR or AKV's and while we liked both, SSR really shined for us. We preferred the room decor of SSR over AKV. Location again in our eyes went to SSR being so close to DD. And if I want to get a round of golf in I'm right there.

The only thing it doesn't have for me is snow and snowmobiles. But I get enough of that in New England from January to April.

Yup, we are excited about our stay coming up in August, as long as we get the Tree House Villas. There are 8 of us going. We are taking/paying for my mom and stepfather and my inlaws since they could never afford to do this. The day we arrive is my moms birthday, so it should be special.
