I was wondering if anyone ever rented a golf cart from - an off site rental company?
If so - How much was it?
And - Who did you use?
thanks!

I have never rented from an off-site company. I have never heard of one that worked out to be much less expensive than renting directly from the Fort. And, renting off site will always be at least a bit of a hassle. The only possible reason that I would consider renting from an outside company would be if I wanted a larger cart.
A fellow Disboard member Tim5055 maintains a website with lots of useful and reliable information. Here is a link to it: http://www.title-3.com/FWFacts.htm
If you scroll down just past half way on the first page, he has some information there about an off site golf cart rental company.

As TCD stated it can be a bit of a hassle to rent off site. My experience was good, but a couple of things to keep in mind:
Off site rentals usually only save on a longer rental (10 days or more)
Some rental companies only work Monday - Friday (like the one I used)
Delivery/trailer rental charges can cause the price to go up quickly.

Yes, yes, and yes.
We're renting off site this year, but we'll be there 3 weeks so that's why it ended up being a good bit cheaper - $530 incl. delivery (and that's actually for a full month).
The company only does delivery/pickup Mon-Fri, which actually works out for us as we're coming in on a Sunday and leaving on a Friday.
We're going through Golf Cart Enterprises

We haven't used them before, so we'll see how their service is. So far they've been good to work with. :moped:

Fort Wilderness Golf Cart rental fee's increased while we were there during the first week of October. Renting off site might start to make a little more sense, especially if you are staying a while.

Looks like the All Ears site info was just updated...
http://allears.net/acc/faq_fw.htm
"Carts can be rented for $47/day plus tax (or $12/hour) at the Bike Barn (407-824-2742). Starting October 1st, 2008, perhaps earlier, cart pickup and dropoff will be at the Outpost (check-in), instead of the Bike Barn. However, the supply is limited so call ahead to reserve a cart. Fort Wilderness carts may be reserved up to one year in advance.
NOTE: There is a 10 percent discount if you rent the cart for the week."
Hmm... thought I just read somewhere they were no longer renting them by the hour?

How did you make out with Golf Cart Enterprises??? I called the Fort yesterday and was told they do allow outside companies to bring rentals in to campground guests so long as the golf carts are strictly that - golf carts. I am considering renting from GC Ent. for our trip in Jan. and was curious how their service was. Any problems?? Thanks!

Great!! They were very on-the-ball, punctual, pleasant and the cart they brought us (which the guy said was about 2 years old) looked practically brand new! It's working great so far. :thumbsup2
They met us in the overflow lot with the cart on the back of a truck (right on time). No probs with Disney at all.

I just tried renting a golf cart from EZGO Carts of Orlando (12/5). The gentlemen told me that he just received a letter from Disney that they were no longer permitted to deliver carts to Fort Wilderness...
I'm not sure this applies to everyone or just his dealership? I also checked with Golf Cart Enterprises and he didn't mention not being allowed to deliver the carts.

I really think Disney's "official" position is that there is no outside delivery of carts. I can see this for several reasons including not getting a cut of the action, liability if someone is hurt delivering a cart etc.
Now, with that said cart delivery companies stay below the radar by using unmarked vehicles and just pulling into the overflow lot and dropping them off. The company I used kept it even quieter by unloading in the overflow lot and driving it to my site. They looked like any other tourist taking their cart to their site.
It's possible that EZGo was making it too overt to keep Disney's lawyers happy. Maybe they were handing out cards, advertising FW delivery or something else to make Disney officially tell them that they are not "sanctioned" to deliver carts to FW.

The guy that delivered our cart from Golf Cart Ent. assured us that they had no problems delivering and that in fact sometimes Disney rented carts from them for events.
We have one of their carts now - delivered this past Monday a.m. I was there at the time, and no one from Disney bothered us at all. The cart came on the back of a flatbed truck which did have the company info on the door.
Rate info is here...

Looks like the base price for a week is $200 (not incl. delivery, etc.)

As long as it is in fact a golf cart (i.e. not a gator or some other type of industrial cart) gas carts are allowed. While the rule is that it also must have the same safety equipment as Disney's carts (lights, windshield etc.) I have seen cars without some items,

While I was there this past week, people seem to be using everything! There were several John Deere gator types that were being used, so I think Disney will be cracking down sooner or later on what is and isn't being used on their property!

Might not be worth it for a week - I haven't done the math on the recent WDW rental rates, but our cart from GCE is costing us $500... which is actually the rate for an entire month (although we're only using it 3 weeks).

I just got off the phone with the folks at the Bike barn.
Our 7 night rental will be $402.57 including the tax for 1 cart. I asked about the 10% discount for a weekly rental and was told they no longer offer it.
That makes renting off site far more attractive and I'm about to get some quotes.
These prices are ridiculous. In july, I would swear the weekly rental for a cart was in the $330-$350 vicinity.

Yikes - that's pretty outrageous (especially on top of pretty high current site rates too), and a shame they dropped the weekly discount. Our off-site rental was $500 for an entire month!
I really don't get what's up with Disney on this one. Are they actually trying to discourage people from renting (to keep the numbers of carts down maybe)? Or is it just a case of "because we can"... :confused3

Maybe they "can," but we won't :). I've contacted 2 off site rental agencies and if we can't get one because we need a Sat. delivery, we will just use the buses.
We didn't use the cart all that much and while it was very nice to have to drive around the Fort after dinner, well, we could use the long walks instead. :)
We will just use the bus system. It is outrageous to pay substantially more for a little used cart rental than we're paying for a car for a week.

You might ask about a AAA discount. I know when we rented the end of September, they said they didn't offer an AAA discount on a weekly rental, because we were already getting a 10% discount being that it was for the week. I know they previously have applied a 10 percent discount when we have rented bikes, and on the watercraft as well. Doesn't hurt to ask.
I would go with an off site rental before paying those rates.

BUT, they don't deliver on weekends, which counts me out for not only this trip, but for most of my trips.

Does the outside company have daily rates?:confused3 .. Perhaps you may not need the cart the entire week if you are planning on spending some days at the parks. Maybe a mid week rental... Just something to consider.

12-30-2008, 12:39 PM
The other rental company, golf cart enterprises, just got back to me with a rate. $585 including tax for the week and a weekend delivery.
I also called the Bike Barn again to see if they offered any discount at all for AP holders, AAA, anything at all and the cast member said there is no discount of any kind on the carts.
Looks like I'll be calling back to cancel. IMHO, they have now priced themselves out of the market.

I haven't a clue. The quote was for the entire amount for a 4 person cart, and included a windshield, tax, and delivery.
No matter how much the delivery was - it's still an even more ridiculous amount than Disney is charging for their carts.

12-31-2008, 07:31 AM
Their website shows $200 for a week plus tax and when I checked it was only $70 dollars for delivery on a weekday. So why not just have it delivered first thing monday and picked up last thing friday. Then it won't be $585.
Mary2e
12-31-2008, 09:37 AM
I know what their website says. :) My email was an absurd amount.
I sent an email back and asked if the $585 was a typo, and got a response that it was. It should have been $410.
A week with a windshield, delivery and tax is $303 for Mon-Fri delivery/pickup. That makes the delivery charge on a Sat about $100.
I'm sure they could get a lot more business if they would simply not charge that $100 for a weekend delivery. Their price is otherwise reasonable for a week.
Since we really want to use it when we go to the MK and for just going for a drive after dinner when we're not going to the MK, we would most likely want to have it on Sat & Sunday. The rest of the time we use our car to get to the other parks.
It's just not worth the added expense for Mon-Fri when our use is limited.
I will write to see if it is less expensive for a Mon-Fri rental and again, report back. But, that would be pickup during Friday day and really cut into our use of it based upon how we use it.

Oh whew - that's more like it! That puts them pretty much in line with Disney for a week (around $402?)
I know weekend delivery seems to be an issue for most of the off-site rental companies. That's definitely the one plus to renting from Disney.
I will write to see if it is less expensive for a Mon-Fri rental and again, report back. But, that would be pickup during Friday day and really cut into our use of it based upon how we use it.
Good luck. One thing I can tell you is that they were very flexible about drop-off/pick-up. Basically they let us pick the time. We had them drop off Monday at 9am and they picked it up at 3pm the day before we left (which happened to be a Thurs). And there were exactly on time both times. :thumbsup2

As this is a 2 year old post that has been resurrected, I thought I'd post the current off site pricing for carts.
Golf & Electric Vehicles Group, (Steve Senesi) they have 2 passenger, 4 passenger and 6 passenger golf cars available for rental. As of June 2011 this is their pricing:
$266.25 per week for a 4 passenger cart, including tax, pickup and delivery, with $35 per day for extra days
6 passenger cart is $372.75 per week including tax, pickup and delivery, with $45 per day for extra days.
Contact Steve Senesi (kartimann@msn.com) for more information, and as always contact him for current pricing.

Another source for carts is Tee Time, but they only rent 4 person carts. Reviews I have read are positive and internet web boards folks are saying the place to rent a cart is from "Kenny" at Tee Time.

We have a reservation with Kenny at Tee Time for September 2011. He is charging us $350 for 10 days. This is including tax and delivery. This will be the first time using him and doing so because of the good reviews I have read here. This is much cheaper than Ft. Wilderness. It would have cost us about $630 including tax. This is $280 difference. I will post about the service after our trip.

My family does a 4th of July reunion every year since the early 90's. We always rented from FW because of the convenience and such. Unfortunately FW raised their prices beyond belief and we were forced to go with an outside company. "Kenny" with Tee Time is the one I recommend. I have used his company three times now and have never had a problem. His current rates for July 2011 is $35/day Its a steal of a deal, and if you like fast moving carts...Kenny's are it.

I leave tomorrow and used Kenny to rent 2 carts. Everything went perfectly.
he arrived when we told him we would be checking in. The carts were speedy, but not too fast. We had rain shields, which came in handy tonight. I didn't notice any other carts with these.
Just a tip, bring something to attach to the cart to identify yours from all of the other white carts. Kenny recommends this because they can be tough to tell apart (his carts aren't numbered like FW carts). I used a small mickey water bottle snuggy because it clipped t the frame nicely, and it was disney so it fit right in.

DO NOT RENT FROM ORLANDO GOLF CART!!!! We had reservations with them from oct 26th through Nov 1st. The cart NEVER SOWED UP!!! Disney cast members, our party, disney security, our travel agent, all looked in various locations for this mysterious golf cart! I contacted ogcr on wed evening was told "its after 5pm this isn't an emergency and HUNG UP ON ME!!! So I called first thing thursday morning, got voicemail. My travel agent called every 30 min to get someone real to talk too. He then talked to "alex" and was told there was a mistake and my golf cart wasn't delivered on wed but would be delivered on thursday. Again we waited........ On thursday we again got everyone and their brother to look..... No golf cart found. At this point we had spent most of two days worrying about and looking for this golf cart. I never got a return call!!! My travel agent did call them on thursday leaving another vm telling them we wanted a full refund and to cancell the rest iof the reservation. I was lucky to be able to get a golf cart from disney for 4 out of our 5 days left! So many great people spent hours helpibng us find this mysterious golf cart....... Please save yourself the headache rent from disney or kenny. Off to dispute the charges!!!
I recieved a call from "David from Orlando Golf Cart" on Wednesday morning at 819am. He told me he was the person that would be picking up the golf cart and wanted to check the time he was to pick up the golf cart. I literally laughed out loud to him. I explained to him what had occured (no golf cart arriving) he told me to call his boss the "owner of Orlando Golf Cart Rental's Danny May". I called him and when he finally answered the phone he told me that someone this "David" had broken into his shop and stole pick up paperwork and that this "David" had stolen 15 golf carts from him in the last 7 days. He told me to "not worry about my refund". When asked when I would get one he told me "Its the first of the month I am not sure'. He then told me that an investogator would be calling me. That was Wednesday. I called today and so did my travel agent..... no answers......
