Hi folks:
I'm getting all the final details of DISCon II together. We should have a final itinerary in the next few days and registration should open up early next week!! The dates are set for Dec 4-8th and the event will take place at the Swan/Dolphin. We have rooms reserved there (we're working on the block size and price right now). So, all those of you who have patiently waited for this, I thank you (and even those of you that have not waited patiently, I thank you too!).
Now, a few things:
Hotel reservations will be handled directly by the Swan/Dolphin via a toll free number.
Event only registrations will be handled on-line through a booking engine that I'm putting together now. Payments can be made via E-Check or Credit Card through PayPal only (this saves me a ton of work in the accounting area).
As I mentioned earlier, there will be a non-refundable deposit required for the events portion.
Also, based on feedback from last year, we're scaling back on the number of "official" events that we're doing this year. We will have an opening reception, plated sit down dinner, desert party at Epcot and closing breakfast. This leaves more time for everyone to plan meets and do some of the other fun things that are being planned. Also, I've asked Swan/Dolphin to warn Kimono's of our arrival as I know many of you want to do Karioke.
So, we're almost home!!! Look for more information either later this week or early next week along with the opening of registration!!!
Thanks,
Pete
YIPPEEEEEE!!!!
Doing the happy dance here!!!!
Thanks for the great news Pete!!!

Thanks so much for the info, Pete. I'm glad to hear that there will be an Epcot dessert party again this year. I think it was one of the highlights of DISCon I.

Wow! Better unlock my Credit Card from the safe......;)
Okay,... Steve, Ray, Barb, Marsha, and all fellow Commandos....... I think we need to schedule an "Emergency Meeting"........
First of all, because we just do !!(after all we just got more "news"!!! :bounce: )
but most importantly because I'm afraid that Chris (December99) is going to explode when registration actually opens:eek: :eek: :eek: !!! I think that this possibility also exists for Emma
:eek: :eek: :eek: (and I know that they will be valuable assets,...if they don't explode before DC2!!!!!).

That's OK Corinne. I've been known to de-fuse exploding bombs on occasion (but never on Broadway). :D
The emergency commando meeting will have to wait a few more days until
SOME PEOPLE DECIDE TO COME HOME FROM WDW!!!
Just kidding Dayna and Tia....
Guess this calls for another DIS-Con chat, huh Marsha??

OOoooooooh! I just love being called SIR, Emma! ;) :D
Chris,
"...valuable asset..." is hereby defined as :
Rabble-rouser:
Able to withstand sleeplessness for long periods of time (as long as there is something else to do);
Willing to wear humorous or downright silly hats;
Able to withstand months of non-stop planning and countless computer hours in their quest for "all things DIS Con";
Singer - regardless of ability (or lack thereof); etc., etc.
Well, you get the idea------"Fun Lovin' Folks" !!!!:D :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Mine are definatley going up this year BEFORE DisCon. By the time I got home, had no energu left or desire for xmas. Had maximum overload. Now this year, I will have the house nicely decorated, presents all bought, gifts wrapped and under the tree, Xmas cards sent, ...
and what alternate reality do I think I live in?:rolleyes: :p I will be happy with any 1 or 2 of those things done! LOL!

I'm in the process of looking for a real special tiara for me to wear to tea. I'm also trying to come up with an idea for a "silly" hat.
Now as far as Christmas goes. My cards never got sent this past Christmas. They are all written out, I just never got them in the mail...so I'm a step ahead there. I almost hate to admit this, but I just got the last of my Christmas stuff up in my attic this past week!!! It's been packed away I just never felt like going up there when it was so cold out. I should have just left the stuff out for this coming holiday.

maybe this should be on another thread but..
Nancy you said
I'm also trying to come up with an idea for a "silly" hat.
Does everyone where willy hats all the time or is it for one event only? What were they like last year?
Thanks
Emma

I am sooo pumped up!! Just knowing I get to register soon makes it that much more real! I just realized I need to get my itinerary sorted out ... as I have been making plans here and there for this and that... and I need to get it on paper before I start over booking myself! LOL!
Can't wait to meet you all in person.

Patrick - I need a version that I can download to my Palm Pilot. Does anyone out there have any suggestions for how I might accomplish that. I'm a Palm newbie and know that there has to be a way to get the dates and times of all the mini-meets into my PDA without my having to grafitti them all in. Come on techies. I know you have a solution.
disneycub
05-05-2002, 08:13 PM
That exactly how I did mine last year on my Palm. Used the keyboard and grafitti. It didn't occur to me that we might be able to download. But you can download directions from Mapquest, so maybe it's something simple. I take a lookie see.

Copy the word document into your memo pad and then synch. That will get it on your palm, but not your calander.

I didn't bother putting up any Christmas decorations until after DIS Con. Of course, we didn't have Christmas until April!!!! heehee :D :D
We FINALLY took the tree and all the decorations down about 3 weekends ago!!! heehee

Thanks for the hint Carol. A memo would suffice. If the list were in an Excel spreadsheet, I could import it into HanDBase. Still not in my calendar, but better than nothing. If I have to, I'll just retype all the info into my Palm desktop and then sync it into my calendar. With seven months to go, there's plenty of time to find a solution.

Emma,
I believe the "silly" hats were worn for the Fantasy Land Mini-meet. I'm a first timer for Dis Con, but read all the posts about last years. I can't wait to get there and meet everyone. It's very hard keeping my excitement down here at home...my kids are mad I'm going without them and DH just doesn't get the whole Disney thing.
