Do you pick up trash at WDW?

I always appreciated seeing this when i was a Cast Member - guests helping to pick up trash. Not that it should be a requirement, but I was always glad to see that people cared about the park that much. So, where do you fit in?

I pick it up on walks at home, so I certainly do it at WDW!

I always make sure that I clean up after my family....but to be honest, with four kids and a DH to clean up after, I have little time to clean up after anyone else.:goodvibes

Yep, i make sure my trash goes in the bin, but as far as i know i don't get other people's :)

Us DH's can certainly be messy :) We now have a 5 month old, so I imagine that my days of picking up lots of trash will be coming to an end.

I am too much of a germaphobe to pick up the trash of other people:sick: , but my family is very careful not to leave any evidence of our presence .:hippie:

I genrally pick up trash when I see it on the ground if there is a trashcan near but I honestly have never seen trash on the ground at Disney World. How weird is that.

I guess it really depends on what the trash is. If it's a paper towel on the restroom counter, I'll use my paper towel to pick it up, and I almost always compact the trash down with my towel.

If it's a tray of leftover food, I'm not touching it.

Okay...time to confess a pet peeve of mine. I hate it when I'm in the ladies room and people put their paper towels in the trash but don't actually push it down into the can. You end up with this big mountain of paper towels that always falls on the floor at some point. I have been known on more than one occasion to use clean paper towels to compact the pile of used ones. Why this bugs me so much I don't really know -- but I hope the CMs cleaning the restrooms don't have to sweep as much trash off the floor thanks to my efforts.

I also make sure my family cleans up all their trash from the tabletop and the floor around us after we've finished eating. It's just common courtesy to do so.

Yes I do. I also pick it up when walking to and from my kids school, at the soccer feild or anwhere else that I am. I make my kids do this also. Its not OK to litter and its not OK to ignorant it either, this teaches tolerance which will lead to more littering:) Just my thoughts.

Me too! Can't remember an instance where I saw something but maybe my eyes were just directed elsewhere.

I pick up trash. Part of the ex-CM in me.

I also wipe the sinks that are completely covered with water and then pick up stray paper towels in the restrooms. Part of that is not wanting to be soaked myself and part of it is politeness for others. I also have little ones who are too short to reach the kiddie sinks and have to sit on the sink to wash their hands. I will also wipe the sink when I'm done. I've had several cleaning CMs thank me for it.

I also remember to say "Thank You" to the CMs in the restrooms before I walk out. They have such an important job and no one says that to them. I like to think it's my way of giving them so magic in retun!

I have been known to clear down a CS table when needed :wizard: I do wish people would put their trash in the can when they're done - it doesn't take much effort and you usually walk past one on your way out :confused3

I don't think I'd pick up trash outside though and I do agree with a PP that you rarely see trash at WDW :thumbsup2

Actually I think the areas in the US I've been to are so much cleaner than the UK in general.

Depends on the trash for me too. I'll pick up cans and cups and things, but I don't pick up napkins or anything someone might have blown their nose in or something.

I pick up the trash that blows on my lawn all the time, but in Disney World I would say i only pick up my own trash and not others. I usually dont see too much trash there anyway.

But for some reason if i had to pick up other people's trash i would pick DW of all places : )

Seriously, yes. I pick up litter in other places as well, but WDW gives me that Christmas-y feeling of warmth toward my fellow man. :hug:

Ditto. As an ex cm myself old habits die hard (like pointing with 2 fingers). I'll pick up most trash unless it is a Kleenex or such. Gross!

Okay I voted for, "I pick up my own trash, but not others", which isn't entirely true, but there is no choice for my actions. I will pick up someone else's trash as long as it isn't gross, covered in something odd looking, odd smelling or if it appears to be sticky. I will pick up a popcorn box, a wrapper of some type, a cup, but I will not pick up tissues, napkins, or half eaten food, etc.

I'm sorry, but I pay a ton of money for my vacations and I am not going to risk getting a virus or something "icky" by picking up someone's germy tissues or napkins.

I try to pick up trash where ever I see it, yard, work, etc. I agree with PP that the women's trash receptacle is my pet peeve. I always take a towel and wipe out the sink and counter. And I always tell our custodians here at work how much I appreciate the cleanliness of our building.
