I was on the phone with MS today about our Oct. 01 cruise and the Fall Fantasy Discount. While on the phone I mentioned we were planning a trip Jan. 25 - 30, 2002. I asked if I could call tomorrow (Feb. 28th) or Thurs. (March 1st). She had to go check and said I couldn't call until March 1st, NOT Feb. 28th. Thought this might help someone.

I asked this question last week. We are planning a trip from 1/20/02-1/30/02. I was told I could do it on 2/28, but I didn't think so. Now I know not to call until Thursday!

I was looking in the member guidebook about this (the one I have is dated 8/15/99):

"If there are no dates that correspoond directly to the reservation check-out date, then the last day of the month is when reservations may be requested. For example, a member who wishes to check out on January 31, 1998 may request that reservation on February 28, 1997."

My member guidebook (dated March 2000) says the same....for any date in Jan. after the 28th on call on the last day in Feb....the 28th. The guidebook goes into it rather explicitly, giving examples, etc....

I will definitely be calling tomorrow!

I guess I'll be calling tomorrow, too. All they can do is tell me I have to wait another day! Funny how all the CMs at MS have different answers, no matter what you ask!

I suspect it is like any thing else. If they don't get the training, they don't know. I will try this morning too.

I couldn't do it this morning. The computer wouldn't let the CM make the ressie for 1/29 and 1/30. He told me to call back tomorrow. :(

Yet another of the world's problems blamed on us poor software folk. From a programmer's viewpoint, what is described in the handbook is a "special case" and I hate special cases. 11 months from Feb 28, 2001 is Jan 28, 2002. I can see how the computer would not let Jan 29, 30, or 31st reservations be made. It makes perfect sense. Jan 29th, 2002 is more than 11 months from today (in the strictest sense). Please don't be too hard on the folks at member services. They don't write the software, they just have to put up with it. :)

Towncrier..
My problem isn't so much with the software but that our guidebooks tell us things are done this way and they aren't. Why not just update the guidebooks and state that when the month ends with an earlier date than the month 11 months ahead, the reservation must be made on the first of the following month?

Plus (and I don't believe this for one instant...) I was told that tomorrow reservations will not be taken for Feb. 1...they will only be taken up to Jan. 29...which makes no sense at all! For that to happen 11 months would need to be defined as a particular # of days, and it would rarely correspond from month to month.

I am a bit bugged about the fact that ms's rules do not seem to match up with the ones we are given. Of course everyone blames the computer because its easy to blame...but really computers are run by people. The people in charge really should either change the computers or change their written rules to fit what the computer can do

I agree that they should either change the software or the member's handbook. I was just saying that I doubt that the folks at Member Services can override the computer's rules (however wrong they may be). I guess that the lawyers didn't clearly convey the rules to the folks that implemented the reservation system. I'd still blame the programmers. :)
