After another annoying incident with a bridesmaid, Lilli was starting to decide where to seat me once my rollers were in and someone else in the bridal party decided that after already having their hair and make-up done, they wanted something else doing to their hair. This had been offered earlier but refused and now, with even less time to go, a change of mind had been had.

Ana was such a good sport and kindly said that she would have to get me done first and then she could try and fit her in. I just breathed deeply. We then had an upset over room service (I ordered some as someone asked for it then decided they would eat in their own room instead, leaving me with the bill) and I was starting to get a little annoyed.

I sat there getting more annoyed and hungry and Andy, my best friend and bridesmaid realised and poured me some Lucky Charms which I ate very carefully as Lilli had applied my make up and was threatening to kill anyone who came near me. The room was complete madness! Ana was screaming “Someone take a picture of her with her Lucky Charms!” she was just great. It was like having a new ally in the room.

...Hair!

I bought a hair piece at a Wedding Show in London, and then I visited my Hairdresser and Colourist at Toni and Guy Southampton and they colour matched my hair to the piece. I love curly hair, I used to have ringlets as a child. Ana was so delighted the colour match was perfect. She said she'd never seen one so close! Thank goodness. I can only imagine what it would have looked like if I hadn't been to the hairdresser and checked....

I thought Ana would just hook it onto a pony tail and that would be it, but she curled all of my hair and wove it in, even I couldn't tell which was my hair and my extra hair! (we took to calling it "the rat" as it was like my pet)

My whole family just adored Ana and Lilli. I even learned how to say "dumb ***" in Spanish! They made me laugh and I forgot all about any nerves I should have. They were fantastic. I owe them my sanity on the morning of the wedding.

Finally.... All Done!

At the end Ana said "Here She is!" and handed me the mirror. I'm not going to lie to you, I was scared. I don't ever enjoy looking in the mirror at myself, and that's not fishing for any compliments from anyone. I'm only too aware of what I look like and I don't need to be reminded, thank you! But this was my wedding morning and I'd wished and hoped for so long (okay, forever) that just for one day I'd be a princess. I know that sounds rather ridiculous at 32, but that was my wish. Just one day when I looked pretty. So I was scared.

Then I got the mirror... and I'm not saying I look beautiful to everyone. I just felt happy. Delirious. I looked like a much, much prettier version of me. I wanted to cry but Lilli threatened me.... So my smile is genuine in these photos. No staging, no "look happy". These are my feelings spread across my face. I have never been so happy to see me in my life.

..If I get into trouble with Gavin, I'm sending him your way! ;)

Now, just as my make up was finishing, Disney Floral arrived with two large, okay, massive boxes. They loaded them into the room and opened the top one. I saw the flowers and………the colours were NOTHING like I imagined.

Now I spent ALOT of time organising many, many pictures of what I wanted and more importantly DID NOT want and when these flowers arrived they were different.

The colours were completely different shades to what I expected. I just stood there for a moment smiling, dazed. At first my initial reaction was the above ~ shock that they were not what I had thought I would get, but then I actually looked at them. They were perfect. Perfect shades to match my bridesmaids. Beautiful, big flowers. I was so happy.

I had yet to see my bouquet.

The Shield...

Then they opened the other box and there it was ~ my shield of flowers. You'll see why I named it "The Shield" in my wedding pictures. It was the biggest bouquet I had ever seen, it was everything I dreamed of. I knew that I wanted a large bouquet the same shape as Victoria Beckham because of the shape of my dress and the shape of my body, and it was just enormous. It was fabulous. It was bigger than Mrs. Beckhams :lovestruc I wanted to just look at it forever but I had things to do! I thanked Disney Floral and realised that Misty had turned up with her husband Nelio whilst the door was open, and she was already snapping away!

Raspberry Bubbles
10-27-2008, 07:45 AM
So Misty and Nelio padded down the hallway with us after darting around the corridors as though we were children on Christmas eve along with us towards my parents’ uncluttered, chaos-free room. I had sent ahead the essential items including my dress with my sister and my mum so I knew everything was there ready. There was just me in my pyjamas and what looked like a small entourage behind me.

The first shot they decided to take was of my dress. My beautiful dress. I feel sad now knowing that I might never wear it again. I would have had the chance to wear it again at what was going to be our at home reception but with things as they are (we had problems) we have not felt like celebrating and so I don’t know if I will ever wear it again. I know that sounds ridiculous, I just loved my dress so much. It has so many happy memories and magical hopes and wishes all tied up in the fabric of it. I can remember my mum’s face the first time I tried it on, the feeling I got when I saw that despite the size of me when I first found it, I still felt like a bride in it instantly. I recall my dad’s face at my final fitting and the smile on his face when I came out of the changing room and did a twirl. Then I think of the way I felt slipping into it this very morning, my wedding morning, as I realised this was the moment I had waited for my whole life. My whole, entire life.

Anyway…. Here’s my dress in all it’s window hanging-glory. It’s by Hollywood Dreams and it cost my mother over 3 months’ wages. I wanted to buy it but she was adamant it would be my father and her who bought it for me. That’s another reason I love it so much. It was a gift of love from my parents. They gave me everything they had to make my dreams come true.

The dress makes me smile when I see it hung up because it shows none of the beauty it has when it's being worn. It looks nothing special and that was the way it looked to me when I first saw it in the shop. Nothing special. When I put it on, it came to life. Perhaps that was why I loved it so instantly ~ it was a real Cinderella dress.

I have to mention that Misty was visably relieved when she reached my parents’ room as the room I was in was just madness. I also forgot to say that as I slipped around the corridor in my dressing gown with my beautiful tiara on, feeling a bit like a fairy, who should we meet in the corridor, but Jeffrey Stoner! I introduced myself in my pyjamas and we laughed. He came into the room with my sister, parents, Misty and Nelio!

I asked Jeffrey if there was anything we could do to make his job any easier and he said to ignore him completely! I felt really awkward but I did as he said ~ well, I tried to anyway. I dread to think what I look like on his video but we’ll find out at the end of November. I love Jeffrey’s work. He is truly gifted. Plus, he’s very sweet too ~ he has a lovely manner (and he loves the Manic Street Preachers which makes him even better.)!

Misty got to work straight away and Andy back in my other room started clearing everything out. She was super.

Misty photographed the invites, rings and my sand-ceremony bottle. My dad had this made for me at the glass blower’s workshop near to their house. I loved it. We had to photograph Melissa and Robert’s invite as we had still to give it to them and we thought a photo of it in our wedding album would be a lovely gift for them also. (Close your eyes, Melissa!)

My Kirstie Kelly Cinderella Necklace...

I bought this at a wedding show even before I heard about them. I saw a sign saying "Disney Jewellery" and me, mum and Beka headed right over. When they found out I was getting married at Disney, they insisted I try every piece on. It was fantastic. I settled immediately on the Cinderella necklace. I already had another piece of jewellery as you'll see, but this one was big and bold and I fell in love instantly.

The chain in the photo is different from the chain it comes with. I can post pictures of those in my PJ later. It also has a tiny blue jewel in the reverse of the pendant for Cinderella, and also this could count as your something blue. I love this necklace, I can still wear it now. In fact, I wore it to school yesterday. It's beautiful.

My Wedding Perfume...

Originally I went and bought a Vivienne Westwood Limited Edition perfume from Selfridges as I wanted something special but then I realised that not only might I smell unfamiliar to Gavin but also the perfume I generally wear, Coco Chanel, was so special to me that I needed to wear it and feel like myself.

I wear Coco by Chanel because when I was 16, my granny said she would buy me my first perfume and this was the only one that didn't make me sneeze. I love it, and it reminds me of my granny.

So, I got to buy a new bottle, guilt-free!!!

I forgot to mention that I actually did feel like a Disney Princess, I really did. I think that's what Disney gives you ~ an extra bit of magic and the fact that you can unashamedly say "No matter how old I am, I still want to be Cinderella, just for one day."

My Photos, My Heart...

I also attached little photos of my boys, Casanova and Excalibur, to my bouquet with ivory ribbons, and also a picture of my late Granny and Grandad with my mum when she was little. I had no photo of my dad on there because I didn’t need one, he was right by my side. With these little photos, I managed to walk down the aisle with my dad, and with my mum, granny and granddad in my “heart”.

Our Rings...

The ring I chose was made of topaz and diamonds and it doesn’t look like a regular wedding ring as I wanted a very pretty princess ring. I used to play a game called “Rings on Your Fingers” when I was a little girl and it was a bunch of yellow plastic rings which you picked up and tried to match to the pictures on your card. On the yellow plastic were drawings of rings with different coloured stones and they were just beautiful to me as a child, even though they were of course paper and plastic. I used to run around with as many on as I could fit!

Anyway, I thought it would make sense for me to have the ring I really wanted for my wedding. After all, it was the ring that Gavin would put all of his promises into and the ring that would bind us together (like Gollum from Lord of the Rings…). Later on we decided that as he wanted to buy me something from Tiffany’s (I love Audrey Hepburn and the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s I loved as a child) we would buy a gold band to wear (as opposed to something silver, which I will get next time ;) ). I’ll write about that later.

My Cinderella Bracelet...

I got my Swarovski Cinderella bracelet off eBay after falling in love with it on the DISBoards. It was new in the box and I love it now, but when it first arrived and I tried it on with my dress, I felt like a rapper as it was so large and sparkly! At my last dress fitting I managed to figure out how to remove a link in it and I tried it again and it was perfect. So I wore it and fell in love with it.

Thank you so much! Ana and Lilly are amazing. They helped me out many times on my honeymoon, I just love them both. I felt very confident they would be the right choice for me :)

Misty was great ~ she covered most of the wedding day and we had the Roots aswell, who we adore. We were very lucky to work with such wonderful and talented people! :) :) :)

I put ALOOOOOOT of time and planning into my wedding, nearly 2 years solidy, but I am glad that I did. I knew exactly what I wanted and by the time it arrived, I was sure of everything. I never waivered because I nothing was done on impulse. I'm just so happy about the way everything turned out.:flower3: :flower3: :flower3:

Getting Into The Dress...

Anyway…

Back in my parents’ room, it was time for me to get into the dress. I was so scared. This was it! The dress (it’s called Demi and by Hollywood Dreams) was so beautiful and yet so huge (and undoubtedly embarrassing) to climb into. I was sure I would fall over like some idiot! Or flash my underwear. I had my new underwear from Agent Provocateur that I had been looking forward to wearing for so long, but that didn’t mean anyone needed to see it!

So, Misty said that she would photograph me getting into the dress if I had no objections to it, and Jeffrey said he would start filming. Pressure, pressure!

Lilli told me if it went over my head she would shoot someone...!

http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee207/GavandSara-Jayne/Getting%20Ready%20DIS/1150482.jpg

Up until this point I was happy ~ all I had to do was clamber in (literally), but now I had to take some clothes off. Hmm... It was like being at school and trying to get changed for PE without anyone seeing...ha ha ha.

I changed into my new pyjamas (we always had new pyjamas at Christmas when we were little so that Santa would see us clean and tidy and so I thought this was another good excuse for some ~ after all, I might be photographed in them! )

I always had new PJ's on christmas eve for this exact reason. In fact even now I buy new PJ's for Me, Lee and our 2 children to wear on christmas eve. The kids love coming out of the bath and finding a gift wrapped sitting under the tree for them ! Only after they open it do they (again) realise that this happens every year ;) you think they would remember the next time, but they don't. Its magical.

I love my dress. I wore it many more times (as you'll see) and I'd wear it every day if I could (except not for washing up ~ that would get icky)...

:)

I think my dress will become my new 'SUNDAY DINNER' dress :rotfl:

I used to play a game called “Rings on Your Fingers” when I was a little girl and it was a bunch of yellow plastic rings which you picked up and tried to match to the pictures on your card. On the yellow plastic were drawings of rings with different coloured stones and they were just beautiful to me as a child, even though they were of course paper and plastic. I used to run around with as many on as I could fit!

OMG !!!!!!!!!!!

I just had a major flash back to my childhood and playing that game ! I had totally forgotten about that ! I loved that game it was my absolute fav.

Loving you TR, now stop tidying up woman and on with the show.......:rotfl:

The Sunday Dinner idea is certainly very appealing ~ I'll try this weekend and see how it flies with Gavin... :rotfl: I don't think it would surprise him.... :rolleyes1

Another "Rings on your fingers" fan! Hoorah! I loved playing it, now I have my own ring it's even better, lol.

Well, I can try and get a little more on here and then I have to go shopping or we will starve here. I have two impatient huskies who are waiting for their bonios ;)

Sara -- You are just so beautiful! I can't believe you don't see that, even before Ana and Lili worked their own special magic. Your smile just lights up a room! I am so happy for you that everything was so perfect and pretty. You absolutely looked like a princess, even before you got into your gown. I can't wait to see pix of Gavin's face. I am sure you knocked his socks off. Your parents sound so wonderful and loving and I am so glad you were able to carry your loved ones (and your furbabies) close to your heart on your wedding day. Can't wait to hear (and see) more! Your writing style is absolutely perfect and I am enjoying every single moment of reading your journal.

Sara-Jayne you were the most beautiful princess bride!!! I just love everything you've chosen so far.. the flowers are amazing - star gazer's are my personal favorites - the jewelry, the garter, everything is simply fantastic! And don't be sad about your dress, maybe you could surprise Gavin with a romantic first anniversary dinner and wear it again then, or if you two are planning on kids, you could turn the bodice into a christening gown and use the skirt to drape around a bassinet. Or you could save it for that vow renewal!!!! It truly does come alive when you wear it!

Thank you so much, you made me so happy! :) I like the idea of a romantic anniversary dinner, that would be lovely! It's just such an amazing dress. I can't explain how I feel about it. I'm not a clothes person generally, I'm not obsessed with them, but I just love everything about it ~ especially the memories. I'm not sure I could face cutting it up though.... My mum would probably cry aswell! :)

Thank you for reading and for your lovely compliments ~ it makes it so much nicer to write the TR when people are enjoying it! :cloud9:

The reason I originally had my hands in their, er, prime position, was because those parts of my boys are ALOT bigger than the rest of me, so I'm top heavy. Thankfully thanks to running before the wedding, they shrunk a bit bit they were still bigger than I had hoped, yet the bodice had needed to be taken in. It wasn't taken in quite as much as I needed and so I was hoping the corset would take care of that. So, to make sure everything was where it should be, I held everything in place.

Then I was eventually starting to pull into shape! My hands went straight to my hips! For some reason, every time I put this dress on in fittings, I had my hands on my hips ~ so much so that it became a running joke. I even have fitting photos that my mum took because I just kept doing it. I don't know who I thought I was!

You look so happy & pretty!!

Thank you, I felt like a princess for the day! :)

I agree!!! We need more...;)

I'm back, I'm getting to it, I promise!!!

double agreed.

Absolutely beautiful!!! You, the dress, the photos, everything!!

Thank you so much. You have no idea how happy I am that you have so many lovely things to say!

Oh my goodness you looked so beautiful! I love the corset on the back of your dress, it's so pretty!:bride:

Thank you! :) I loved the fact it was a corset, it felt even more princess-like!

Sara-Jayne! Your pictures are STUNNING!! However, your engagement pictures - where you had no make-up - were as well!! Your happiness radiates through your smile! I LOVE the dress - and the fact that your parents bought it for you with LOVE is incredible! I'm so glad you have made it to getting the dress on - can't wait to hear about what happens next! You should be a wedding planner - you obviously had a vision and brought it to fruition! AWESOME!

Aww, thank you for everything you said! I would love to be a wedding planner. I had so many visions of my wedding before I finally settled on MY one, perhaps I can share my others, lol!

I absolutely agree!

Thank you! ;)

I totally agree!!

You are sooo kind.... :cloud9:

I unequivocally agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

Enough housework for one day - get take-out for dinner... that's what I"m planning to do for my husband, when he asked me why, I told him the truth, my new DISboard friend Sara-Jayne is giving her wedding journal and I don't want to miss it. :cloud9: He was just about to interject when I added, "and if you push me on this, I'm sure I can find a good project for us both this evening, perhaps we can start cleaning out the garage if you think our time would be better spent that way." After giving me a facial expression similar to this: :scared1: , he backed right off. Mess with me will you? HA, I know how to fight dirty! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Ha, ha ~ I read this one out to Gavin. "Poor man" he said.... ;) Cleaning the garage is a project Gav is allllll too familiar with.... ;)

Okay, I am back!

Poor Gavin. I shoved a pizza in the oven, made some cookies as fast as I could and got back to photo sorting. When he asked what I was up to, I told him I was sorting my wedding photos. That worked. He’s sat in silence now, pretending to concentrate on the television….

I also got some with my sister... She's putting my necklace on but it slid to the side so it looks like she's going to strangle me! :) I love these too though, she looks so pretty!

My mum was the expert at lacing my dress up, having attended all of my fittings, and she got straight to work! I was so worried that it would not be laced up in the correct place that the first place my hands went were to my breasts, as we all saw earlier. How delightful...how princess-like! :woohoo:

So, here was the back of my dress. I could not see this, I just hoped they had done it right and it looked pretty! All I could hear was my mum complaining jokingly that my sister had HER hands in the photo when my mum had done all of the work in lacing me up. So, here are the “fake” photos of my sister, being congratulated on a job not done by her….

Finally I was all laced up! I could breathe, too! I was in shock! I heard of so many stories (including my sister when she got married in her enormous and breathtaking red velvet creation ~ breathtaking in more than one way!) where the bride could not breathe, could not eat…. Well, not for me! I had planned the food to the last mouthful and I was determined to eat some of it. Okay, a lot of it. Fine….. as much as I could of it.

So I was still trying to ignore Jeffrey. I found that really hard! I felt so rude and impolite! Anyway, they finally finished and I was all in. I looked down at myself.

All fitted in, the dress felt enormous and I felt like a bride. A scared bride, but a bride. This feeling I will remember for the rest of my life. I always dreamed of one day being a bride (like most little girls) but most times in my life, I’ve found that when I have worked really hard to get something, it doesn’t feel like you hope it should when you get there. Like Christmas. I love Christmas and I work really hard to make it feel Christmassy but when the day arrives just lately, I feel nothing. Or birthdays. I feel nothing. Perhaps because I expect to feel the same way that I did when I was a child; I still want to hold on to that magic. I was petrified that when this day came I would feel nothing and just be stood there, dressed up and empty inside. But I didn’t. I felt like a bride. I felt the magic I had missed for so long. I could feel my dreams coming true inside.

So, I had my dress on, I had my Kirsty Kelly necklace for Disney Fairytale Weddings on, I had my teardrop earrings that I had searched everywhere to match the necklace AND my tiara, and my Cinderella Swarovski bracelet. I was completely covered in Swarovski crystal (they covered my dress too!) My beautiful tiara was already on my head. I love my tiara. It’s like nothing I had ever seen before. I bought it before I chose my dress. I just knew it was the one for me. So, I was ready! Well, nearly.

Once everything was in place on my head and my arm, I swapped my engagement ring to my other hand and we found my garters. My sister had to put them on for Misty to take pictures, I am sure I have scarred her mentally in some way.

Cinderella Slippers....

After that it was time to have photos of my pretty little shoes that I had searched so long for…. My mum got the Benjamin Adams shoes out, and the two other pairs I had with me for our dance and an optional other pair…

…..and then I broke it to my mum. I wasn’t going to be wearing these shoes after these photos. When I got downstairs I was changing into my real wedding shoes. My dad laughed and my sister said “Oh no. No. You’re kidding me.” Then I pulled out my white pillowcase and Misty shrieked! She lined up the three pairs of wedding shoes I had with me and snapped away again. My real wedding shoes, the ones I was going to wear (and was so glad I did when I gained NO blisters at all that day) were high-topped white and gold, Swarovski-embellished (by me) Converse. They were beautiful. I used to wear these all of the time when I was a teenager and then when I went to University. I felt it only fitting given my obsession with the 80’s that I should wear them. I spent sooooo long sticking these little gems on with "No More Nails" and hiding them from Gav...

However, before I put these on, I had some photos with my delicate shoes. I do love these, I just could not see myself walking very far in them and surviving and again my phobia of falling over resurfaced. I also am notorious for getting blisters after wearing ridiculous shoes and so there was a distinct chance that wearing the little shoes would mean I would suffer for the rest of the honeymoon. Please don't judge my poor feet ~ they played rugby for many years and suffered many injuries.... :rotfl:

Gavin later told me that he too, felt amazing. He never felt better or more confident in all of his life. I can’t tell you how happy those words made me feel because Gavin has been such a rock and such a constant source of love in my life. He has never given up on me, has survived all of my sulks (and I survived his grumps!) and has never, ever waivered in his devotion to me. He needed this day to be perfect as much as I did. I wanted so badly for him to shine, and for the light to be on him for a change.

As you may have guessed from the photos, Gav has a very comical sense of humour ;)

See that hat? THAT HAT? That Indiana Jones hat followed me everywhere ~ I tried to kill it off in Discovery Cove (as you will see later in the report) but it rose from the dead to carry on.... Anyway, as he knew I was powerless to stop him, he of course wore it down the aisle.... ;) "Why?" You're probably thinking... When you see our order of service, you'll understand.

So, after I had stood and stared at myself for a very long time we opened the door to one of Diane’s assistants, complete with head piece and clipboard. She had no idea which room we were in and was in panic mode on our Yacht Club floor. She practically leapt at us with an enormous smile and shouted into her headpiece “We have the Bride!” I felt like I was in a movie ~ I think it was the Wedding Planner ~ and she said we were needed downstairs to get our photos as Gavin was now cleared and secured in another area.

I headed for the elevator area and we met two families with little children at the lift. This was one of the most wonderful moments of the day, and it cost nothing at all. There were two little girls, dressed in Disney Princess costumes and flip flops. They smiled at me. They smiled the biggest, most magical, most hopeful smiles I could have imagined, and I smiled back.

It brings tears to my eyes to remember that moment. I wanted to tell them this was the day I never thought would come, that I never dreamed I could ever look like this, that I could not believe all of my dreams were coming true and that they should hold onto their dreams as tightly as they could and not let go because they would come true too. But I just smiled. One day those little girls will have my dream and there will be new little girls in their place.

I felt humbled inside because both me and the little girls had the same dream; to be a princess that day. I can’t describe what I mean when I say that ~ it just felt so special. I know when I was little I used to see brides and wonder what it would be like to grow up and be able to be a bride, and now someone was looking at me in the same way.

The families moved aside and offered me the elevator. I was so grateful, and thanked them profusely. The little girls waved at me and we descended ~ a compartment full of silk, flowers and dreams.

You have such a beautiful way with words - and I know exactly what you mean - when I was little at weddings (and still kinda of now even) I was always too nervous to talk to the brides at weddings (even people I knew well!) as they just seemed so wonderful and magical that day!

I love the Converse. When my sister got married, the shoes she had picked out gave me blisters by the end of the ceremony!!!! Apparently she was aware this may happen and as all the bridesmades left the church she handed each of us a beautifully wrapped box and told us this was an additional bridesmaid gift, inside was the happiest sight my eyes had ever seen, a pair of monogrammed flip-flops (or thongs, whichever you prefer), so I can completely appreciate your worries about uncomfortable shoes. To be honest, I spent the entire ceremony thinking, "how am I going to get through the night in these shoes, they are about to bring tears to my eyes they hurt so badly." The Converse;) were a great idea!! Good foresight! The photos of Gavin getting ready are adorable, you should see if you can't find a frame that will allow you to put your getting ready photo on one side and his on the other so you can cherish each others joy (which by the way, show in both your eyes). I can't wait for more.... ;) Now I'm starting to worry, what am I going to do once your finished.

One day those little girls will have my dream and there will be new little girls in their place.

...don't worry...;) they heard you loud and clear.

You have such a beautiful way with words - and I know exactly what you mean - when I was little at weddings (and still kinda of now even) I was always too nervous to talk to the brides at weddings (even people I knew well!) as they just seemed so wonderful and magical that day!

Thank you :) I know, I never really know what to say to brides either! I just used to look and think "I wish that was me" and wonder what I would look like, what I would choose...

Hello again! At my sister's wedding I had the same problem ~ I was limping after about 5 minutes! Urgh ~ it was awful! Your sister had a great plan :)

That's a great idea about the frame ~ the hard part about the photos is trying to decide which ones to frame, we have sooooo many (as you'll see ;))

Don't worry, my TR should last a while yet ~ I have 20 more days to cover, and we did so much.

After that, well, I'll see what I can do ;)

...don't worry...;) they heard you loud and clear.

Oh, thank you. I hope so... :lovestruc

Wow, I'm gone for one day and I get to come back to pages and pages of beautiful pictures and updates. I swear when I saw the first picture of you with your hair done and the tiara on I thought to myself, she looks like a princess. princess: She's so beautiful. :) This was before I read about your fears of not being pretty that day. You had nothing to worry about. You were rocking the regal princess look before you even stepped into that fabulous gown. When you put that gown on you didn't just took like a princess you looked like a bride. :bride: Brides are more fun to be then princesses because a bride has a groom. Not all princess have their prince.

So we exit the elevator and there are people milling everywhere, of course ~ but it felt like time stood still. The rest of my bridesmaids and the families and friends ~ everyone except Gavin and Garth (his brother) were in the lobby to the Yacht Club, waiting for me. This is completely untraditional but I never thought anything of it at the time ~ generally no one sees the bride (aside from mum and dad and bridesmaids) until the top of the aisle. Somehow it was more calming this way. Everyone was smiling at me and the Captain of the Yacht Club came over to congratulate me as I literally swept my way (the dress was even bigger when I tried to move) through the lobby.

My mum had my shoes and I started panicking that I would not be ready to go to the ceremony or ready for photos with Misty and Diane came over to explain to me what was going to happen. I wasn’t allowed to go outside for photos for a few minutes thankfully as they were still finishing with Gavin.

So, I started to get booted up ~ but my mum had to do it for me! I felt like I was a little girl, getting ready for school again. Remember when your mum used to put your shoes on and try and squeeze your uncooperative feet awkwardly into your new shoes? That was me! I had my little white socks on and I could barely see what was happening at the other end of me. I’m sure Cinderella was a lot more graceful when the Prince was fitting her slipper on…

Now tell Mr. Tiggs that he needs to make you happy on your wedding day, and if that means taking a trip to Toni and Guy to meet Mr. Clippers, then that's what he'll have to do. I met my hairdresser and said that I wanted a Disney Prince haircut and they all got over excited and decided they would cut it like a cross between Aladdin's and David Beckham's......

Gavin meanwhile had Nelio and Misty with him earlier and Misty later said he was acting like a model, ha ha. Gav is such a kind hearted and very amiable person; I do not know anyone who does not adore him.

Here, he is, messing around for those awkward “I’ve already gotten ready but now I’m doing it for the camera” shots…

So we were waiting and waiting in the lobby and Misty was getting antsy. She said we had waited for about 20 minutes and we were wasting time. I had no idea at all and so Misty decided to get me up and take some shots inside whilst we were waiting to go outside. She was so fantastic. She really does care about her brides (and her grooms, Gav loved her too!)

We had a few shots in the Yacht Club and Misty said that as soon as she started snapping, they would say we could have outside for photos…. She was right ;) However, she decided she would get the inside shots anyway as a bonus.

I cannot remember when I was actually sat here, I think the excitement must have erased that from my brain. I do love these photos though. My dress looks a little odd here when I’m stood on the staircase, but I had so much fun that the memory of doing this alone makes me smile.

People were milling around and all of my friends and family that were there were coming over to me and kissing me and telling me how wonderful everything was and how pretty I looked. My heart was soaring but it all went by so quickly… Soon we were allowed to move out to the front of the Yacht Club for some more photos….

We got outside and assembled, and Misty started by asking me to look down at my flowers…. I was in the hot sunshine and I started to feel nervous until Misty said “don’t worry ~ today is all about making you look pretty!” From then onwards I trusted her implicitly. I don’t know how she did it, but her voice makes you feel so confident that she’ll do just what she says she will.

Everything was just so much fun. I’m sure it’s like this for everyone when they get married, but usually when I’ve been to weddings and had my photos taken, it has not been fun ~ just “move here” “move there”. We gave Misty complete creative license, and no expectations for her style. We wanted her to do what she does best and capture our day ~ and she made it so seamless and like an event in itself!

Trying to move in the dress was difficult at first and I started to worry at the back of my mind how I would manage to wear it in what was becoming a hotter and hotter day….

Me and my sister then had some shots. I am so glad we had these because we have had so many goofy photos as children and my mum is always desperate for “nice” photos of us. I like to think that these will make up for all of the years of horrific school photos she had to endure…. ;)

Sara-Jayne... I am sitting here in AWE!! Your pictures are FANTASTIC! What a wonderful photographer you had!! Misty - :worship: Don't worry about posting too many!! They are wonderful!

Gav looked absolutely handsome in his pics too!! He could be the tuxedo model!

And about your flowers - ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! OMG! That bouquet rivals that of any movie star I have ever seen - yours is actually BETTER! I hope you had lifted weights prior to the wedding - I'm sure it was heavy!

Can't wait to read more and see more pics!

Seeing all of your Misty pics makes me so glad that she is going to be our photographer too. Her work is amazing!

Also, quick question: did you use the photographer that Misty suggested? I noticed on her website that they mention that there is one that they usually work with, but they didn't name them.

You know I kept tearing up when I looked at you all pretty and a bride!!! Misty was fabulous with her Jude negotiations too, he is usually so guarded about taking off his glasses/hat/safety object of that day but he really took to her! I can not tell you how much I love this picture. I think it is my favorite wedding picture of all I've seen on here so far, or any where for that matter. Sure the posed shots are are beautiful, but this was a once in a lifetime, shot. It's just such a sweet, endearing shot. It is so spontaneous. To top it off the lighting is perfect. Wow all I can say is ...Wow. I think if it was my wedding that picture alone would have been worth the package price. I have to show Df the pic when he get's home. Okay gonna stop gushing about it now.

Both of your families are adorable, and your youngest neice, temper or not, I could just eat her up she's too cute - besides I usually favor the children with a bit more "spunk". One question though, how did Misty get Gavin (btw the grooms/men photos are incredible) to take off his Indy hat for the porch photos? ha ha

You look stunning!

Thank you! :) You are very kind!

Melissa

Hi Melissa!

Thank you for reading.

You know, if Gav read this he would laugh. I actually did go weight lifting for a few months before the wedding! My "guns" as we call them (biceps) needed to be good enough to hold up that bouquet! ;)

I loved my bouquet so much, and all my colours. I can't wait to show you all the rest of the day, and the trip!

Seeing all of your Misty pics makes me so glad that she is going to be our photographer too. Her work is amazing!

Also, quick question: did you use the photographer that Misty suggested? I noticed on her website that they mention that there is one that they usually work with, but they didn't name them.

Misty is fantastic. The other photogaphers we used were the Roots, who are completely awesome. Just amazing. I didn't see who else Misty recommended, or did you mean videographer?

Thanks for reading!

Loving these! That one of Dyly just catches her entirely where she is looking upwards, so very Dyl

You know I kept tearing up when I looked at you all pretty and a bride!!! Misty was fabulous with her Jude negotiations too, he is usually so guarded about taking off his glasses/hat/safety object of that day but he really took to her! (and thank goodness "ice bat" stayed in the room although i have many a picture of him should your TR require one later  )

Ha ha, Dylan has so many cute pictures, she will want them all on her wall!

I'm glad you were crying, ha ha ~ I have some photos of that too! Misty was fantastic with the kids ~ I loved her little songs :)

I would love a picture of Ice Bat ~ he really does need a mention!

Thank you, OoDeLally! I have many, many hundreds of spontaneous shots to come ~ Misty was fantastic at taking these, but she made sure we got all of the formal ones too. We gave her complete creative license and she was amazing. She even decided she loved our photos so much she used them on her site as a slideshow! :)
You like soooo pretty in your piccies, I really hope I look half as good when its my turn :)

Thank you! :lovestruc I know you'll look fantastic! ;)

OMG your bouquet is huuuuuuge!!!!! I love it! and I love your bridesmaid's flowers too, they are beautiful, how much did you pay per BM bouquet if you don't mind me asking? I love your colours as well, I wanted pink and orange but I ended up with yellow after much thought.

Yellow is beautiful! My BM bouquets were $100 or thereabouts each. They were completely worth it and after much discussion, they did them EXACTLY as I designed, each flower was just where I had asked and each piece of grass too. I loved them! They too were very heavy.

Sara-Jayne, I'm also enjoying your report!! I am also an August Bride (August 8th to be exact...I think yours was right around there too) Any advice for an August Disney Bride??? Thanks!!! P.S. You looked stunning!

Hi there! Thank you for reading!

I was August 5th ~ and my advice is....it's going to be hot, hot, hot, wear a bikini! Only kidding. My advice would be to follow your heart, not your head (which will be filled with other people's opinions on what your wedding should be like). Drink plenty of water and don't forget to have breakfast. :)

How delighted am I.... just popped on for a nosey on the DIS and you've updated your TR!! All your photos are just beautiful..... you look stunning!! and OMG your bridal bouquet, I dont think I've ever seen one so big!!Its lovely!

Thank you! I did insist it had to be enormous! ;) I love flowers, sooo much. I would fill my house with them if I could. I once bought 9 bouquets when out shopping and filled the house with them....

OMG, your pictures have me crying! I have been married for a very long time, and to see such a beautiful, happy couple is so heart warming. I wish you a long, healthy, happy life together! :wizard:

Thank you so much. That means such alot to me. :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc Congratulations on your obviously very successful marriage ~ and secrets? :) :) :)

Hooray! I had to run around all day, the whole while thinking, I'll be Sara-Jayne is posting and I'm missing it! When I got home I had to cook dinner since I Shanghai'd my husband last night, I knew I wouldn't get away with it again tonight.:rotfl: I am absolutely floored by your pictures. Your bouquet is far and away the loveliest I have EVER seen! And you my dear are absolutely stunning! Misty certainly captured everyone's happiness! Both of your families are adorable, and your youngest neice, temper or not, I could just eat her up she's too cute - besides I usually favor the children with a bit more "spunk". One question though, how did Misty get Gavin (btw the grooms/men photos are incredible) to take off his Indy hat for the porch photos? ha ha

Ha ha ~ your poor husband. I made dinner for mine last night and he said "been posting all day, then?" I think he has me figured out.... :rotfl:

Thank you for all of your compliments! I think Misty is awesome. Just amazing! I had no idea what to expect and she was just a dream come true. So professional and so "on your team" if you know what I mean. She was there just for me, and she really showed it. She is a devoted photographer!

THAT HAT! Argh ~ it keeps coming back, wait and see. It follows me wherever I go. I am surprised he didn't have it photoshopped back on...

Oh my gosh, I just started reading at the beginning. On our honeymoon in 1981 we ate here, only back then it was called "The Empress Lilly".!

Yes! It was like that in 1986 when I was there (10 years old!). It's amazing to have finally gotten in there!

your flowers are massive! when you said they were big you were not kidding! love the photos- so much so i am re-questioning who i would pick!
what time was your ceremony?

My ceremony was 10am because of the heat I wanted to be able to get married outside without anyone passing out! :)

I would choose Misty anyday ~ she is just the best. And the Roots. All of my photographers were simply stunning in their abilities and talent.

I LOVE this thread i LOVE your flowers I LOVE your tiara i LOVE the colour of gavins cravat i LOVE the detailing on your corset I LOVE your shoes he he I LOVE it when you update more more more

Eventually we went back inside and it was time. It was time! Time to get married! I felt the adrenaline run through me like ice water through my veins and inside my heart. You would think I was scared, but it wasn’t fear I felt. I was filled with nervous excitement. This was finally it ~ the moment, the start, the beginning of our fairytale…

I had a secret that only Gav, Diane and I knew. We had hired Cinderella’s Carriage to take us to the ceremony. The carriage would wait out the front of the hotel and everyone else would go out the back. Now we joked at home so much about having the carriage and people kept saying “oh, you must” but we kept replying that it was just too expensive when we could just walk to the site. When I told them how much it cost and for how long, people seemed to accept that there would be no carriage. So, as far as everyone else knew, we were walking.

When it was time, Diane’s assistant took everyone out of the Yacht Club and out into the sunshine to walk towards the gazebo if they were guests, and through the Yacht Club to be stationed if they were bridesmaids or parents, ready for the aisle walk. Diane kept me, my dad and my two nieces back. She said she needed the girls for the flowers and everyone else seemed to accept that.

We found the Coral Reef restaurant and checked in. We were guided towards the sofas and I was petrified that things would go wrong as I had heard so many times that people did not get their sign with the diver or whatever. So I made an excuse to go to the bathroom and on the way literally slinked against the wall to get back to the reservation desk. I checked that things were set and they were just lovely there. I must have looked panicked I think.

I returned to Gavin who was oblivious and had no idea that they even had divers like at this place, and soon after we were asked to follow the server to the restaurant floor.

We were holding hands and I was grinning from ear to ear, as the server led us to the front of the restaurant and seated us by the tank! I could not believe our luck!

Our server came over and congratulated us and gave us these... I loved how they had done them!

Relief at Last

We ordered our meal and were patiently waiting for our New England Cod Cakes when I saw bubbles at the back of the tank. The turtle had swam away and I had the most strange, scared feeling in my stomach. Was it the diver? I was panicking in case this didn't go well ~ would I give it away, would I not get the camera ready? I made up some story about thinking I saw an eagle ray or something and when I saw him get closed, Gavin had his back to the diver and people started pointing to the aquarium.

Gavin turned around, and there was....

I think she's diligently working on the next installments of her trip - so she can post a lot all at once! (I actually "saw" :cool2: her on another post yesterday - so, at least we know she made it back from her Mom's!)

We miss you Sara-Jayne! ;)

....So, where was I? Oh yes!

The rest of the bridal party were directed to go out the back of the Yacht club whilst me, Dad, and my two nieces were held back.

So, they went out the back, and my dad looked at me and my nieces. He had no idea why we were not going with them too. Diane smiled and said, “Let’s get this show on the road” then winked at my dad.

We started to walk toward the exit after the lobby was emptied of everyone associated with our wedding.

As we got to the doors of the lobby, I saw it. Even now, typing this I actually have tears welling up in my eyes. You cannot imagine, until it happens to you, how that one piece of equipment can make you feel. It was there, in the drive, waiting for me. Waiting for us. Waiting to make our dreams come true. I looked at my dad and he had tears in his eyes. I’ve only seen my dad cry a few times in my life, and those have been very bad times indeed. I knew how he felt now. All of the bad times and all of the sad times seemed like a lifetime away.

He stared at the Carriage and smiled. He was as still as a statue. My nieces were holding his hands. “Are you alright, Grandad?” said the eldest. “It’s real.” said my dad. “It’s really real.” He looked at me. “Is it for us?” he asked, looking at me through his eyes which were shining with tears. I nodded and grinned at him. “Time of our lives” I said, and he knew what I meant. This was it. Everyone deserves the happiest day of their lives, and for my dad, this was a day he will never, ever forget. It wasn’t only the best day of my life, it was his too. It had been such a long time since he was completely happy. My family have had such an awful time in every single sense of the word over the past decade and a half that I can’t even begin to get into it. I know my family had needed something to believe in and this wedding had seemed so far off, but I know my dad clung to it tightly with both hands and his heart. He wanted my dreams to come true as much as I did. More than that though ~ I think he needed them to come true. I was determined that I would make my parents proud, and give back to them memories that they could cherish forever. Memories are priceless, indelible. I’ve only ever wanted to make my parents proud of me.

We stepped out and my youngest niece was like a little goldfish. People were complimenting us and shouting congratulations, but I had tunnel-vision. It would be perfect if I could say I was just over-awed by the carriage and could not wait for my trip, however I’d be lying. It dawned on me that I had an enormously monstrous dress and the carriage appeared to be perfectly petite with a rather narrow doorway ~ or so I thought. I had very clear visions of me either:

a) ripping half my dress off as I got in;
b) getting wedged in the doorway; or
c) whacking my head on the roof.

All rational thoughts, you understand. I can make ANY event ungraceful and disasterous ;)

As it turns out, there are some really delightful and very, very helpful foot-ladies on the carriage with the coolest shades. They take care of the ponies and help Cinderellas-to-be embark on their carriage journeys. They stepped forward to help me and said I should enter first. Now I have no idea how Misty got the photos of me as I have no recollection whatsoever of anyone else being around whilst I was having my internal panic attack about my chosen mode of transport, as magical as it was. ;)

Thanks for making me cry at work :). What a beautiful/magical moment. My Dad has never said he's proud of me either but I know he is. And, like you, that's all I've ever wanted. What an unforgettable moment for the two of you to remember forever.

As the foot-ladies stepped forward and helped me lift my dress they of course caught sight of my converse and were calling each other to have a look. Then some of the passers-by started noticing and shouting compliments, I was smiling so much I thought my cheeks would pop off! Everyone was just so cheerful! So anyway, they actually helped me to guide my foot onto the first step and they explain to you how to get into the carriage. They also kindly hold your hands. Of course, they might not ~ it may have been that I just would not let go of them, ha ha.

The carriage is actually MUCH bigger inside than it looks! It’s much taller especially. I could stand up and only had to tilt my head forward slightly because of my crown.

Whatever your past challenges, I can actually feel the joy and love of this day that you and Gavin had and it makes feel good too. You may see yourself as a 'plain Jayne' but I think that I speak for a great number of people on this post when I say that you are a truly beautiful person.

When we're in Disney this month, I will be thinking of you as we visit the Coral Reef, Fultons and Le Cellier, and hoping that your day at home is at least half as good as ours will be!!!:goodvibes

Sara Jayne, I popped back in to see if you had posted more, :sad1: sadly you had not, so much like the Harry Potter books, I started re-reading... and there is one picture of you getting into the carriage where you are holding your flowers up in front of you, and it is simply stunning! There is you, in white, the carriage, in white, the driver, also white and in the middle are these absolutely beautiful flowers. They just stand out so nicely. I don't know how I missed it the first time.

Sara Jayne, some one on another board pointed out this TR to us. I've spent the last hour and half reading it.

First, let me say, congratulations to you and Gavin. May you be as happy in your life as you were at your wedding and when life throws you the inevitable curve ball, may you always have each other to lean on.

Your TR has brought me to tears quite often. From you looking in the mirror that first time, descibing your wonderful friendship with your 'penfriend', your Mom and the wedding dress, to meeting the little girls in the elevator.

It's unreal how very happy, not only I, but everyone reading this thread, can be for someone we have never met. You have made that very easy for us.

Thank you for sharing the most exciting day of your life with us. I'm looking forward to the rest.

Oh the suspense is killing us!! You can't pull on the heart strings with such a beautiful fairy tale romance and not give up the ending, it's just awful! (Although we already know you get your prince). This waiting IS worse than the Harry Potter books!!! :rotfl: I'm just kidding, I'm sure you have plenty to do being a new bride, work, house chores, etc... But you've made us all fall in love with your and Gavin's fairy tale. You're such an amazing writer, it's hard for us not to feel like we're right there with you, so these breaks are pure torture. Thank you so much for writing this, I am glad you enjoyed it ~ I have to say it is worrying opening your heart on a public forum. I am so relieved that people are so open minded and non-judgemental when they read things like wedding reports. It is soul-destroying when people trample on the memories you just wanted to share :(

I only got one chance to be a princess for the day, no matter how child-like and ridiculous it sounds to some people, and for the rest of my days I'll go back to being the plain Sara-Jayne I was before, and that's fine. Some people need to be in the limelight every day, I just wanted one day :) I got my childhood dream, and I can relive it in my mind forever :)

Thank you for your really lovely words, they made me smile so much. I hope that you're having the best time in Disney, I just wish I was back there :)
