We are going to be on the DDE. I wasn't able to book the Fantasmic package, so as a back-up I booked a regular dinner reservation. I know with the Fantasmic package you get an appetizer, but what about the regular dinners? Is the appetizer included on the plan, or would it be OOP? Thanks.

With the DDE you can order whatever you want. It is not like the DDP where you are limited to an entree, beverage, and dessert. The DDE is all OOP so you are not limited. Hope this helps.

Appetizer gets so befuddled in the Fantasmic Dining package. It took me a while to get a feel for what and why. I look at it this way...

One regular DDP TS entitlement allows a person either a Fantasmic Dining Package or a standard meal at Mama Melrose.

The Fantasmic Dining Package includes an Appetizer, Entree, Dessert, non-alcoholic beverage, tax and reserved seating for Fantasmic.

The Standard Meal includes an Entree, Dessert, non-alcoholic beverage and tax.

Hope this helps! :goodvibes

 Is the Fantasmic Dinner Package included on the Dining Plan? Then if it is, you can get an appetizer with your meal where as the other restaurants you can't with the dining plan, correct? or no?

YES, thank you that was helpful. We missed the fantasmic package by 5 minutes:confused: which means entre, dessert and non-alcholic beverage. The diners eating 5 minutes before us will also get an appetizer and reserved seating for the same TS credit. Well, good for them. Maybe we will be lucky enough to get a someones cancelled reservation. Keep your fingers crossed for us!

One DDP entitlement allows a person to purchase the Fantasmic Dinner Package.

What you get for the Fantasmic Dinner Package does not change, regardless of how you are paying.

I have ressies for a Fantasmic package in December and my understanding is that DP Fantasmic packages do not include appetizer anymore.

I think this was done when the Candlelight Processional packages went on sale this year. You could get an appetizer with this CP package last year, but supposedly not this year.

There's a way that Disney can differentiate these DP packages now.

I hope this is all wrong, but I think you need to ask if you expect the appetizer to be free.

It would be nice to hear from any current visitors there, right now.

Maybe this new policy will take effect at the start of the first CP package at the end of November for Fantasmic, as well.

Is the DP package the Deluxe Plan which does include appetizers? The Disney Dining Experience (DDE) does not include an appetizer - with a few exceptions like the Fantasmic Package- and I have not heard that it has changed. I guess we will find out in December. Where did you hear this. Has it been posted on the Dis "rumor" link. Just curious:drinking1

There are two main dining plan packages.

DDP does not normally include an appetizer. Up until now it has included an appetizer with the Fantasmic Dining Package at Mama Melrose. We have received this one report that the DDP no longer includes an appetizer with the Fantasmic Dining Package at Mama Melrose.

DxDDP refers to the Deluxe Dining Plan - which does include an appetizer

DDE - Disney Dining Experience (now Tables in Wonderland) is a discount card that offers 20% off of your meals and adult beverages at most TS locations and a few CS locations. It has never been a package card, so an appetizer would not be included with this card, but there'd be no reason that you couldn't order an appetizer with this card and get a discount.

I made three Candlelight Processional dinner package reservations for December with the DP. I asked about the appetizer to the CM and it was stated to me personally that the basic dining plan will not include an appetizer this year for the CP packages.

I followed by stating that the Fantasmic package because it was a package as well included an appetizer, right now; so, why wouldn't the CP be the same?

This CM followed by saying the Fantasmic package does not include an appetizer anymore either on the regular, basic dining plan. I further told him that only a few weeks ago it was reported on these boards that people were still getting the appetizer on the basic DP included for free. He really couldn't comment from there, but he reinterated policy as he knew it at the time of the call.

I'm not saying it's not happening with the free appetizer on the Fantasmic package for the basic DP, but I feel everyone should be forewarned. I, too, have a Fantasmic package for December, but I will ask ahead of ordering an appetizer as to whether it's included or not. I don't think anyone wants to be suprised by an extra charge, especially if more than one person orders one.

By the way, I believe most use DP for the regular, basic dining plan and DDP for the deluxe dining plan. I'm sorry if that was confusing.

I sure would like to hear from others who are doing the Fantasmic package right now. My reservations for CP were a few months ago; so, the change in policy should have taken place by now if they are not including the free appetizer on the DP.

I think most ppl are so used to using DDP (Disney Dining Plan) for the basic plan from before there was a deluxe plan, that most use DDDP or DxDDP for the deluxe plan.

I've seen it this way, too.

Just bumping to see if we can get some answers from people doing the Fantasmic package right now. I have a H&V Fantasmic pkg booked and would happily try to change it if there is an app. included at Mama's, since I have that booked for another night.

It was clearly stated by WDW in writing - not just from WDW-DINE - from the beginning this year, as soon as the CP packages were made available, that if you were paying with the basic dining plan it would not include the appetizer. You'd get one if you were paying cash or using the deluxe plan.

There's nothing in stone about the Fantasmic package. Historically it has included the appetizer at Mama Melrose and Brown Derby no matter how you paid - whether you used cash or either dining plan. Haven't seen where anyone has been denied the appetizer yet on the Fantasmic package. Doesn't mean that won't change. I believe the one report we heard was from a poster who was told by a WDW-DINE CM that the Fantasmic package would no longer include the appetizer. I really don't trust anything I hear from WDW-DINE in that capacity - they are incorrect so often. What would be necessary is a report from someone who was denied the appetizer while sitting in the restaurant. Haven't seen that yet.

If you are on the basic dining plan and you are NOT using the Fantasmic package - that part is for sure - no appetizer is included.

I just returned from Disney on Monday. I was on the regular DDP and had the Fantasmic package at Mama Melrose's last Saturday night. The appetizer WAS included with the Fantasmic meal using the dining plan.
