At the hospital right now with DS, he is in surgery getting his tonsils out. Thought I'd check in and let the DIS'ers know :) Will update in a few hours!

We are home. He is already playing his game boy and eating french fries.

French Fries - wow - kids these days must be made of heartier stuff! I was a real wuss when I had mine out (but then I was only 6).

My favorite thing when I had mine out (as a kid) was a "smoothie" made with canned pears and apricot nectar. Still remember it to this day!

Whatever you do, son't let him drink soda - the carbonation will tear up the incision area and it will burn going down. Still remember that, too! :scared:

I remember when I had my tonsils out, I was doing really well for a couple of days. I could eat anything. About 4 days after was when it started to really hurt. I remember trying to eat a cheese burger from McDonald's about a week after and it took me over 30 minutes to get it down. But getting my tonsils out was one of the best things that ever happened to me. When you need it done it is a great relief to have it over.

Did they do it as a laser surgery? That would explain the quick recovery time. If not...wow. That kid is made of tough stuff!

Yea, french fries! They told us to give him fries, chips or any salty food. The plan is to make him drink more fluids which helps the healing I guess. It was doctors orders for the fries!

Who wouldn't love those doctor's orders?!

I hope he has a speedy recovery. :tinker:
