We are! In fact, aren't we going to be in Disney the same times? No pj, and so far only one speed bump in the planning process. How's your planning going?

Yes!!! We are getting married at the same time!!! The planning is going well! I need a florist though! That's my only major thing I need! How's yours going??

I'm forever lurking this disney wedding section, I started back early in like Feb or March when I was considering a Disney wedding, but have since decided to stay home for it. And now I'm addicted to this but I feel like I'm the only home bride in this world of disney brides!!!

I would love to but will be getting married at home - well near my hometown. We'll be spending 8 nights at POFQ for our honeymoon. I still have so much to plan though. They only thing set in stone is the wedding and reception site (same place) and the colors. I've looked at dresses, need a photography, someone to perform the ceremony and so much more. ahh! Not enough time in the day between planning and teaching high schoolers.

It's possible that this is what I'll be doing... I'd much prefer a Disney Wedding, but it looks like everyone's against me with it :sad1:

The only problem is there's no where in my town to host the sort of wedding I want, they're all either ugly golf clubs, ugly bowling clubs, or they charge a stupid amount of money for providing next to nothing...

Also the photographers here are terrible! I've fallen in love with Misty's style and just can't see anything similar or any where near her style in any of the photographers I've been looking at here.

The problem with my fella is he doesn't seem to realise that the wedding day actually has very little to do with the groom... It's all about the bride!! :lmao: He keeps trying to tell me what he thinks!! The nerve!

I was so glad to see that there ARE other home brides on the boards! I really wanted a DFTW, but we just couldn't swing it with our relatives/ :sad1: But still really excited for our honeymoon!

I have almost everything planned except for a DJ. It's so hard to judge their work from the clips they give you and I feel weird crashing someone else's wedding.:confused3

I got incredibly lucky with our photographer, too bad you're not in my hometown! I would totally recommend him! Good luck!!!

We're having an "at home" VR followed by Disneymoon with our grown children. None of us has ever been at DW before. I would love to hear how other "at home" celebrations have Disney elements.

We're doing this also =)

I just filled out the info at the Small World Vacations site to get a price quote from them for the HM!

We're having a really hard time deciding on where to stay though - We can't decide if we want to do a mod or deluxe, and in each bracket, there's two hotels we can't pick between.

This will only be my second extended trip to Disney, and my first time staying at the resort - there's so many options!!

I also really wanted a Disney Wedding, but my DF didn't at all. Eventually he gave in, and we had our date "penciled in" at the WP, but then I realized that he was right and I'd much rather be able to spend the special day with both of our familys. Also, I didn't want family around while we were on our honeymoon!!:rotfl: But it all worked out, and I'm so excited for our wedding! We're looking at around 200 guests, where if we did Disney we would have been lucky if 20 came!

Oh, and it's so funny you say that about your groom... when my DF tries to but in on the wedding planning, I just tell him he's lucky he's even invited!!

Aww, sounds fun! I've decided to do minimal Disney stuff for the wedding, but for dinner music we are going to have our DJ play the classical music from Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings cd!! I LOVE that cd!! Now for my wedding shower, that's a totally different story. My bridesmaids are having a princess shower!! I don't know any details of that though!princess:

We were stuck too on that! It's been over 10 years since I've been there and DF has never been there so we're newbies! We decided to go with Coronado Springs and just booked last week!!! And if you don't have AAA, I recommend joining JUST for the discount... it's worth it! I got a bunch of different quites, and AAA was by far the best!

Oh, and it's so funny you say that about your groom... when my DF tries to but in on the wedding planning, I just tell him he's lucky he's even invited!!

That's exactly right! A friend of mine is getting married in about a year and 1/2. She was talking to her fiance about buying a dress, and he was saying that he wanted to go with her to find one. She was saying "no, you can see a picture but I'm not going to let you see me in it" I had to join the conversation at this point and say "I wouldn't even let you see a picture! It's a suprise!" To which he replied "but what if I don't like it?" I was flabergasted!!! I think my voice must have gone up a few octaves and a lot of things were shrieked like "it has nothing to do with you" "you're not wearing it!" and the like. When I calmed down from that I raised an eyebrow for the first time in my life and said "the groom and the groomsmen all wear the same outfit for a reason... Grooms are interchangeable..."

:lmao: He didn't like that.

Sorry, got a bit carried away, but it still amazes me that he thinks he has to like the dress for it to get the go ahead... sheesh! :confused3

I fit into this category! We are getting married at home in Maryland, then a Disneymoon, and I do have a PJ you can see linked below. I've seen a lot of other PJs for at home weddings too so definitely start one if you want!!

Good luck with all of the planning!!

Glad to see all the at home/Disneymoon brides here!! There used to be alot here, I didn't realize there were as many still here!!

I had an at home wedding last December, and then a Disneymoon!! We loved every second of it. I'd have loved to have a Disney wedding, but the most important aspect of our wedding was having all our loved ones there and that just wouldn't have been possible at Disney.

Have fun planning ladies!!!

Congratulations!!!!!!!! What anniversary is it for you?

We're having a really hard time deciding on where to stay though - We can't decide if we want to do a mod or deluxe, and in each bracket, there's two hotels we can't pick between.
What are you trying to decide between? I've been pretty lucky and have stayed at most of the moderates over the years and the deluxes when I was younger. That travel agent discount was fabulous while I had it! Too bad they make you give it back when you're not a TA anymore... snif...

Everyone told me that once I had the church and reception booked everything else would fall into place... they were so right!

Me too! Amazing how quickly it came together. I think because we were having the wedding in April, prior to the wedding "season", we got lucky with a lot of vendors. Things book up so fast in our city; I was told that our reception site had a waiting list for May 09 when I booked in Feb 08!

I've decided to do minimal Disney stuff for the wedding, but for dinner music we are going to have our DJ play the classical music from Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings cd!!
That is a brilliant idea! I might have to steal it... I think the only Disney themed thing we had thought of doing was to ask our cake person to put a hidden mickey somewhere on the cake, but that's only because DF and I are pretty competitive and kicked his rear-end at hidden mickey hunting last time we went. :cool1:

When I calmed down from that I raised an eyebrow for the first time in my life and said "the groom and the groomsmen all wear the same outfit for a reason... Grooms are interchangeable..."
My voice in my head was getting all squeeky with shock, then I read that! :rotfl: Too funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But really, guys wouldn't know one white dress from the other, so it doesn't even matter!
My guy doesn't even know the difference between white and ivory! I was trying to explain the difference between tux shirt colors and I just got a blank stare... poor baby. He has no idea what he's in for.

the most important aspect of our wedding was having all our loved ones there and that just wouldn't have been possible at Disney.

I totally understand. I've been fortunate to find a guy with a fabulous family and there's no way they'd be able to make it to DW. His sister has a "yours, mine and ours" family, so 6 kids and 2 adults make an expensive vacation. But I think they'll be able to make it to our home wedding! Yea!

Angela, you've got to tell me all your details!

That's one of the mods we're considering - it's between that and Port Orleans - French Quarter. I'm going next September, so I'm hoping that some nice room discounts will be released by then, and we can consider bumping it up to Poly or Boardwalk Inn

That's so funny because POFQ was the other one we were considering!! Actually, DF wanted POFQ, but I picked CSR anyways. :rotfl: He doesn't really care though! My best friend honeymooned in Disney 2 Januarys ago and she stayed at Poly because her MIL in a DVC member so they used her points, and she absolutly LOVED it and her pictures of the resort far just beautiful! I just can't justify spending that much money on a hotel! I'd much rather spend the money getting my yard fenced in for my dogs! haha! Actually, I would have been happy staying at a value resort, but my DF said that he's not staying in a Value Resort on his honeymoon... whatever!!

POFQ and CSR are both gorgeous! My DF and I stayed at CSR in December and last time I went for a girls trip we did POFQ. I would definitely request a king-bed room though. I heard all of the mods are getting queen beds now, but if it hasn't been upgraded, the doubles are pretty uncomfortable! IMHO! I agree about the Poly. We looked at it, but it was so much more than even the Yacht Club, we couldn't justify it even though we wanted to splurge.
I'd much rather spend the money getting my yard fenced in for my dogs!
Hmm.... Fenced in yard... Maybe I need to reconsider our hotel. Maybe if we had more outside room for our behemoths, they wouldn't think they're lap dogs anymore...

Definitely start PJ's ladies!!! I did one and had so much fun w/it!! And it helps get ideas and stuff fro other ladies.

And to you ladies who are trying to decide on resorts...LOOK FOR DISCOUNTS! We were planning on staying at POFQ, which is beautiful by the way. But I'd really had my heart set on Wilderness Lodge. We ended up finding a fabulous discount through Disney Visa and saved so much money, and even added the dining plan!!

Really??? Yayyyyyyyy!

I'd never heard that song until March this year - DF and I were at a Pogues concert when they came around this way, and they played it there, and I looked over to him and said "This is our song!!!" I just get so happy every time I hear it =)

I just checked out your bio! I love your dress!! I've tried to figure out the knot, but for some reason it's too complicated for me! haha!! Disboards is much more user-friendly.

TY - I'd picked out that dress when I was browsing online, and that weekend I went to a bridal store and I was SHOCKED they actually had it. And they wouldn't let me take pictures in it unless I paid for it, so the only person who has seen me in that dress is one of my coworkers and the salesperson, heh.

theknot boards really are confusing at first, but I'm glad I'm using them, because I'd be SO lost otherwise - I'm the first of all my cousins and most of my friends to get married, so I don't have many people to ask about what I'm supposed to do!

I too am having an "at home" wedding with a mini disneymoon next September. I really wanted a DFTW but DF said no, due to budget and his family wouldn't come, but mine would. Then I found out that some disbrides are doing a DFTW for much less than what we are spending at home  , go figure.

Anywho I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one on here doing that, I felt a little out of place.

I want to start a PJ but I'm feeling lazy right now :rolleyes1 , and I do have a planning bio with theknot.com that I will add to my signature, so if your interested you can look.

Then we are doing our honeymoon at disney for 2 WEEKS! I can't wait. i went to disney for the first time this past june with DF and his family and fell in love with it. I wish i could have a disney wedding but i don't want DF family to travel so much since an important part of his family to him is his grandparents. So we are staying home to get Married!

We're doing a home wedding and then a disneymoon.

My wedding is Saturday (yes, THIS Saturday) and we're waiting to go on our Disneymoon until November 11. I wanted to skip Jersey week.

Doing a Disney wedding was never really an option for us. Being in NJ I knew it would mean there would be hardly anyone there and since we both have small families as it is we knew we were getting married here.

Today is my sleep/do nothing day, then tomorrow is go over everything for this weekend with my mom. Wednesday is finish the favors day. Thursday is pick up everyone at 2 different airports at all different times plus get the tuxes and decorate a little of the reception hall. Friday is bring the rest of the junk to the reception hall, have rehearsal then rehearsal dinner (MIL said no to having people dress up for Halloween....no fun) then head to the hotel and go to sleep! We're getting married on Saturday at 11am and we're taking photos at the hotel before the ceremony which means waking up early. :sad2:

I'm stalking the weather like crazy since the 2 websites I'm looking at have conflicting forecasts. After we take our pics DFi and I are getting into my yellow VW Beetle to drive to the ceremony. Once I get in the car I'm hoping that will be my first stress free moment in 2 years.

Man just thinking about it makes me want to take a nap.

Goodnight ladies ....I mean afternoon!

Okay, so I'll get out my ADR schedule. We are thinking of trading a few- so I'll note that in a second. We have the Disney Honeymoon Registry and our registry- so we got ADRs at fancy restaurants in the hope we do get them from our family and friends.

Okay, so I'll get out my ADR schedule. We are thinking of trading a few- so I'll note that in a second. We have the Disney Honeymoon Registry and our registry- so we got ADRs at fancy restaurants in the hope we do get them from our family and friends.

I'm having an at-home wedding with a disneymoon. I do have a PJ, because we were originally going to have a DFTW, but decided against in the interest of money.
