Anyone done a week on the beach non-hotel at San Diego? Family of 5 and probably a last minute thing.

We stay at Mission Beach in the summer. There's not as much available in the off-season, as a lot of the places are rented to college students. But the rates are cheaper and you can rent by the day or 3 or 4 days instead of a week. Mission Beach is convenient to Sea World and only a 10-minute drive to the zoo or downtown or anything near there.

One of our favorite places on the beach is the La Jolla Shores Hotel (see ljshoreshotel.com) in La Jolla. They have kitchenette units that are equipped like condos and you can get a weekly rate.
They are actually right on the beach where many of the condos are across the road.
