Hi out there,

Does anybody have the canon VIXIA HF100? We are headed to Disney in December and DH has decided we need a camcorder. We are clueless as to the kind of media to get - DVD, Hard Drive, or Flash. He suggested the HF100...

Can anybody give me some advice?

We are casual users - lots of kids' sports / recitals / shows / etc to record.

Sorry, I don't have any info about the Canon you mentioned.
However, I did just invest in a new camcorder.
I went with the Sony HDR-SR12. It is a Hi-Def Hard drive recorder. I am happy with everything, picture is good, video tranfers easily to my computer (although, I will now need another external hard drive to hold it all. :) ) The amount of video that I can get on the hard drive is incredible, over 2100 min- approx. 35 hours.
Also takes great pictures, I believe it takes 10 MP pics (although I can't find that in the manual right now to verify that.)

It was pricey, but there are other comparable Sony's available at a lower price. I went with this one because I had confirmation that it was Mac-compatible before I bought it. The others were maybe's.
