Originally, this was the figurehead on the boat I used to come to the US. I pried it off and donated it to Disney in hopes they would make a major attraction themed around it and my perilous journey. Alas, Norway managed to bribe the powers that be and built a lame boat ride that sort of covered my adventure. The carving gathered dust for many years behind a dumpster at FW until it was discovered by some college program kid who was trying to find a good place to hide from his manager. He talked to some of his buddies about it who were working at AK on the Radio Disney boats over beers one night. They took it to work the next day, only to realize the boats had been abandoned overnight and they were out of jobs, so in anger, they tossed it at the counter at Flame Tree, where a passing janitor picked it up. Being too large for his plastic garbage can on wheels, he jammed it into the rafters out back intending on picking it up later. Unfortunately, he lost his position when Eisner was overthrown, since they were old drinking buddies and his job was a result of nepotism. It has been in the rafters ever since. Look for this story in Lou Mongello's next trivia book. But don't look too hard. Did I ever tell you about the giant golf ball at Epcot that only weighs 80 lbs?

Upon entering World Showcase, take a right and go counter clockwise to the Canadian Pavillion. Stop at the Totem Pole and, still faced in a counter clockwise position, turn to your left. Walk the width of the walkway towards the water. Stop at the fence. Look at the fence. Pay particular attention to what is carved in the top of the fence slats. It will look similar to this photo.

Although I enjoyed FtWGuy's elucidation, I believe this is at the former boat dock to the former "River Ride" that Eisner ordered closed about 6-8 months after Animal Kingdom was opened.

At the 1999 Disney Stockholder's meeting Eisner announced that this carving was made with tools fashioned from the extinct 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea attraction at the Magic Kingdom. Eisner was forced to announce this information to the stockholders after discovering a mole that was planted in the Disney Corporate Headquarters in California. The mole was under the direct orders of Shamu. In an exclusive interview with Orlando Sentinal reporter, Robert Iger along with whale-speak interpreter, Mr. Spock, Shamu was quoted that he, "acted out of frustration when he learned his beloved attraction at the Magic Kingdom was closed without cause." He further explained that, "his life-long, dear friends, the coral, had been heinously sacrificed and cast into handles for carving tools." Shamu continued saying..." I discovered written orders (carelessly discarded without shredding) instructing "the diver" to harvest the rare pink coral from "the sea" after park closing." Shamu also stated the blades for the carving tools were made from Captain Nemo's submarine. He said that making blades from his nemesis, "The Submarine", was too noble a profession for the likes of "The Submarine".

Eisner, thinking fast on his feet (and some say in an attempt for Presidential Nomination - which was the real reason Mike retired) invented "re-use, re-cycle" and has since been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize for his ecological vision which will end global warming.
