My son's college is going to have the DCP present tomorrow. While my son is not ready to do the college program (should he be accepted) in january, I feel I should encourage him to attend the program to find out what it is about.

Does he HAVE to fill out an application in order to attend? If he does have to fill out an application, does he have to schedule and interview?

Does it look bad or adversely effect him in anyway if he does all this and does not attend this January?

He's thinking he would do it (again, if accepted) but Fall 09 semester, not January.

Any info you can provide is appreciated. He's the type of student who needs a little push to get things going and since I'm his mom, I'm usually the one who does the pushing, but I don't want to encourage this if he's not ready and it looks bad if he checks it out and wants to wait.

Good luck to all of you bright young student ;)

You definitely do NOT have to fill out an application to go to the presentation. There are plenty of people who go for information only. It will not affect your son in any way. We have plenty of people who go through the whole process and even get accepted and they have to turn it down. Some of those people are accepted again the next semester. We understand that you are in college and that you have a lot of other things that can conflict with you coming down to Florida. Where is your son going for a presentation? I have one today and tomorrow. Good luck with everything!

You can attend a presentation and not apply. It's perfectly fine to just attend for information. :)

He can definitely attend the presentation and not apply. Who knows, maybe he'll like it so much that he'll change his mind! And you can attend as well, parents are always welcome!
