What is the wait time for 10/4 and again, tomorrow, 10/5. I bought EP for Sunday, 10/12 -- wonder if I wasted my money. Seems like from what I am reading on the boards, not much of a wait time.

Thanks!

It'll pick up. Just think of your Express Pass as an insurance policy that guarantees you to see everything HHN has to offer in one night.

Isn't 10/12 the night before a holiday? If so, you're probably gonna be glad to have it.

If you go to the following website, it tells you wait times. Not sure how accurate it is though.

Me and my friend went two nights ago (Friday October 3) and there was NOBODY THERE!!!! We did every haunted house and ride, which is unheard of. Not only that, but we did four houses twice, three rides twice, and walked through every Scarezone multiple times and hung out at the shows...and we left early!!! The longest we waited for anything was 20 minutes, and that was a one-time thing.

I'm thinking that if you go early enough in October, but not during opening weekend, you'll be very happy with the crowds. I think that you won't have a problem in the middle of the month, but you may not be as lucky as I was.

When you first enter HHN, if the crowds are light, don't use your express pass for the first few houses, unless you know you won't be repeating houses. That way if you decide to do a house again, you'll still have your express pass available for that second visit.

A couple years ago, we got in the standby line for Run, at the same time that another couple used express pass. We walked in 2 or 3 people behind them. Of course, if they were on a tight schedule and weren't planning on revisiting Run, then its understandable to use their express pass.

Last night (Sunday), I left at 10:30, by then most lines for houses seemed to have maxed out at 20 minutes. Streets seemed more crowded than Thursday, but wait times were still not bad.

Who knows if it's related to the lighter than usual crowds, but I've never seen so many survey-takers in my life. Probably 3 or 4 standing outside the Hallow/Scary Tales exit, a couple on "Main Street", and a small army of them outside the main gate.

We went 10/3 and 10/4. Had EP both nights. They let passholders do 2 houses, The Hallow and Scary Tales starting at 5. We did those and did all the all others as soon as they opened. Then a little later when it was dark we did the houses again with our EP.

It's true some nights you don't need it but on those nights that you do it's best to have them. I would rather be safe than sorry. Waits 10/4 got to be over a hour for several of the houses and I EP is sold out for next weekend so that means it is going to be a bit more crowded.

We've noticed the survey takers too. I can save them lots of time and effort by answering the mystery of the lower crowds this year with two words: "The Economy."

Glad I'm not just imagining it. ;) Agreed, the economy has to be the main culprit, but wondering if last year's crowds were also somewhat of a tipping point--a lot of money to drop to only see two house in a night. In any case it's a shame, because in terms of houses and scarezones, I think this is the best HHN since 2004 (or whatever the last year in IoA was).

What I love about HHN is that it's such a "concentrated" event. When we lived in IL, we were constantly running around to various haunted houses. We spent so much time driving and waiting in line that we were lucky to see two, or maybe three, in a night. In those days they didn't realize they could charge a premium for FOTL (I've noticed on their websites that many do that now), and we could only get to one early on any particular night, so it was rush to whichever we thought would be best, then rush off to another and pray the line hadn't gotten too long in the meantime.

At HHN, even without express we can get a lot done just by getting there early. Granted, that's an advantage of being a local and we use it to its fullest. I feel bad for people just visiting for a few days during a crowded time who have to miss any of the houses. It's like having a bunch of houses on the same level as the best ones in IL all one place.

The only IL house that HHN can't beat is a now-defunct one in Wheaton that was called "Silo X." It was an area 69-type thing, and it began when they shined an uber-bright light in your face to blind you, spun you around several times, and literally shoved you into a pitch black maze. Groups of total strangers would be clinging together to try to find their way through. It was a loooong house, and at the end the was an outside part with guys with machine guns...dunno what they really were, but they were just about as loud as the real thing. Ah, those were the days!

I'm going 10/24 and I bought the EP because it seems that the later in the month you go the heavier the crowds get. I bought it as an insurance policy that guaranteed us all attractions in one night.
