Can you get a good deal on an upgrade when you board?

I know nothing about this, and I am not even sure yet if I want to try.....but.....

We have a cat. 11 room. This is our third cruise and we have always had this size room and we are fine with it. But, of course, I do 'dream' of a verandah.

Is it possible to get a good 'deal' (lower price) on a room with a verandah when you board the ship? In other words, ask for an upgrade?

Both Disney cruises I have been on (the Wonder and Magic) have been full. That eliminates any chance of upgrade after you board. Disney seems to do a good job of filling its ships, there were lots of Florida residents and Disney employees who got on at some really attractive prices on my Dec '01 Wonder cruise.

Just hope the upgrade fairy visits you before you leave for the port.

No. They will allow you to pay for the upgrade, but it will be the difference between the prices of the two Catagories at full price.

I check the prices before we left the house on Friday of our last cruise to get an idea of what it would cost for us to upgrade at the port. Well the price that we were charged was the difference in the prices advertised on Friday between the Cat 8 we had and the Cat 6 we wanted.
