I've read several posts noting both positive and negative experiences using the Avis Shuttle to get from the Radisson to the Port on embarkment day. I'm a little nervous about getting off on a bad start.
My question is...is it possible to walk from the Radisson to the Ship? How far is it and would it be safe? (I have a 4 & 6 year old)
I was thinking we could all stay together...drop the luggage off...return the rental car and then walk over. Is this reasonable?
Please advise.

I don't think walking would be an option. If I'm not mistaken it's about 2 miles and very busy roads. I had no problems with the shuttle.

I to would advise against it. The traffic is horrible. It would not be safe to attempt it.
We have used the Avis shuttle twice and had absolutely no problem with it. We are planning on using it again in 1 1/2 weeks.

Drop the family and the luggage at the terminal. Take the car to Avis and then return in the shuttle and meet back up with the family.
When picking the car up, leave the family and the luggage in the parking lot area across the street (in the passenger pickup lot), take the shuttle to Avis, pick up the car and return to pick up family and luggage.
I've done this and it's absolutely no problem.

This thought is too dangerous and really too far from the Radisson by foot - excellent advise given by this disboard.
Meanwhile have a wonderful cruise.

No, the walk is definitely not "pedestrian friendly".

If you find yourself in a spot, just call the shop - my car is always set on go - I can take you and yours to the port rather than take a chance on walking -----no problem and would be glad to help.

Having never been on the cruise before I had no idea where the Radisson was located in relation to the ship. Thanks everyone for the heads up and tips!!
Don 't worry...we won't be walking!
...Shirley you are the best ;-) I ordered 2 baskets from your shop on Monday (from Joanne?) she was incredibly helpful. I know that my children will be thrilled to see their surprises.
