I just checked the HRH rates for Oct 26-Nov 2 and they are down to $205 for a garden room Super savers rate! Doesn't really do me any good because we have a suite upgrade, and its not showing suites online, but I thought I would post in hopes it helps someone else out! :)
PBH and RPH have both gone down too!

I have 2 connecting rooms already booked....can I just call them and ask for the better rate? I'm not sure how to go about this because I've never done it before...:confused3
Supersaver rate is fine for your suite upgrade. You can use the garden room super saver rate to get your suite upgrade with your platinum status. It doesn't matter what the price of the suite is, you should just be paying the garden room rate (if you are platinum status).

Will that work at HRH, since they are no longer part of the You First/Platinum Suite upgrade program? Perhaps that is grandfathered for previous reservations, and not new ones?

Ours went down a bunch as well. I'll call later to see about changing them and I'll report back.

Not sure. Since the OP says she has an upgrade, she must be paying for a lower value room. If the price of the lower value room goes down, that should be the new price. I assumed since she had a upgrade, it was still being honoured from Loews? Perhaps there is another reason for her upgrade but since there are no details about the other reward programs yet, that has me curious!

I was just able to re-book at the new rates. I called and asked and they kept the same rooms (adjoining), garden view. The rate went from $254 to $211 per night. We saved about $250 total.

Thanks for all of the warm fuzzies guys! :goodvibes Glad I could help some people out!
LovePug, all you have to do is call them and ask them to change your rate to the lower super savers rate! Easy as pie.
As to the questions on my suite upgrade, I booked our room in January. I guess I was just grandfathered in for the upgrade. I have the last super savers rate applied to our room (around $226/night) The only way that I would be able to grab the lower super savers rate and have it applied to the suite I already have booked would if there were king suites available. And it doesn't show any, but i will keep looking! lol.

Hmm. That isn't the way I understand it. As long as the cheapest room is available, that is the room you need to have that price applied. If your rate is for a garden view room and that rate went down, your rate should go down whether or not there are any suites left. That's why it is always important to secure your upgrade early and then worry about rates later.

Is there anyway I can get the new lower rate without having to phone them all the way from Australia.....don't want my "savings" swallowed up by the cost of the long distance phone call. ;)
Currently my rate is $793.13 for 3 days for the 4 of us in a standard garden view room at HRH. I tried retrieving the booking and rebooking it to the new rate of $744.19 but it doesn't seem to want to accept because when I retrieve my booking again...the old rate pops back up again.
I thought perhaps I would send reservations an email but I can't find an email address anywhere. Even on my booking confirmation it states "do not reply".
Any suggestions would be appreciated :flower3:

damo,
thanks for the reply. I will call them and try to change the rate. We are staying for a week, so the savings will add up. :)
monty,
if you don't want to call, you could cancel the reservation you have and rebook over the Internet. However, *I* would not cancel my reservation until I had the other one. Lets say I have our room booked under my DHs name, I would make a new ressie under my name and then cancel DHs ressie as soon as I got the confirmation number under my name.

The only problem with this is the deposit from the original reservation is going to be refunded based on the current currency conversion scale, NOT what they originally paid. If their currency has tanked at all, they will actually be losing money, because the refund is based on the exchange rate now, not what it was back then.

I just called about our Oct. 31 three night stay. When I asked about a rate change and they just changed our rate. Savings came to just under $100. Not bad for a short phone call. Who would have thought business would be bad even with the big party that first night. I guess folks are holding on to their money for things like food gas and heat.

Ok I need help. First of all. I don't know where to go to check these rates. I tried to go to the AAA site and put in Royal Pacific Resort and Universal Resorts Orlando and could not find anything. Do I call the hotel and ask about my date and see if they have the super saver, AAA, or AP rate available? Do I call Universal Adventures and ask them? Do I call AAA? I will gladly get the Annual Pass if it means a bigger discount on the room. Do I go to the universal web site? I really would like to book RPR for July 2009 for 2 days. I know that I need to do it ASAP before they are all booked up. Do they even have the rates out for July yet? Someone please put me on the right path.
Thanks,
Steph
If it was me, I would call Loews and talk to an agent. Not sure if any of the deals are available yet.

AAA rates may not be out yet. When you search on the AAA site are you typing in the name of the hotel? I always just click on Loews under the hotel chain list. If nothing is showing up they probably are not up yet is all.
You can book at regular rate now and then keep checking and change your reservation as needed. I started out in March for this December with a Super Saver rate of $259. In May AAA rate dropped to $226-went with it and just recently APH(annual passholder) went down to $144 a night. That's a significant difference from my original price! I only needed to upgrade one of my tickets to an APH to get the discount. Just keep checking.

However, when I retrieve my reservation online it's showing at the new lower rate so I wasn't too concerned, until......

As long as your rate has changed, I wouldn't worry about it. Sometimes they don't charge your first night. I know it is a real pain in the butt when currency rates are changing and they start refunding and recharging.
I am assuming that all the toll free numbers are just for North America?

I would have thought they would have just left my deposit as it was. :sad2: Now,as the dollar has dropped in value 30cents since I paid the original deposit and there was another $9.00 overseas transaction fee, plus the overseas phone call, getting the new rate has actually cost me money. :sad1:

It is for stays of 4 nights or longer. Most times AAA is cheaper. But rates change all the time so always check back up until your stay.
What is the super saver rate? Is it better than AAA?
My rates for February have super saver cheaper by about $30/night. When you book online, if there are super saver rates available, they will come up with the normal rates. They can be available for as few as two days sometimes.

IS there any way to find out how much I would save on a room booking if I had an Annual Pass?
Have HRH booked for 1 night on 29th July, obstructed view room but would be interested to see if the rate would come down from the AAA rate I've got of £260.10+Tax if I had a preferred annual pass.
Not bought my passes yet but wondering if I should by 1 AP for me then use the discount for the day tickets for DH, DS, DD, Mum & Dad as well as for a room discount but don't know how much I would save on the room booking to see if it's worthwhile.

you won't be able to use 2 discounts at the same time.
you can request for an obstructed view room which will be discounted.
if you do that, you can't use your AP for an additional discount.
many times the obstructed view rate is cheaper than the ap rate in the summer.

I just checked the rates for our dates Feb.1-7, 09 and the rate for APH is $134.00. I called the reservation line and they could not see the rates on their screen. I would call again, although I don't see the rate you mention for any of the 3 hotels. Which hotel are you looking at? The Power Pass does not give you discounts on rooms or tickets. You need the preferred or premier for that.

Thanks guys - I didn't realise it was too early for the "heavily" discounted APH rooms or that you put APH in the promo bit (never even thought of an APH before today for either Universal or Disney as we generally only do once every 2yrs).
Shoot - thought it came up with $224 rates which I thought woo-hoo but must have clicked the wrong button and it wasn't HRH!! Ah well, HRH coming up at $260 which is pretty much same as Obstructed View rate so not worth the change at the mo and don't really think I should leave it until last minute.
Oh well, was an idea!!

Call again and let them know that. My stay has the same rate thing going on. They broke my ressie into two parts, a two night stay at $284/night and then another two night stay at $404 and $422/night. (Talk about whopping change, huh?).
They might be able to help you but when I tried to book your dates in two separate bookings, the 4th puts a snag in things. I get 1-4 at $134 w/no problem. When I put in 4-7, I get "no availability." If I put in 5-7 $164/night. Who knows, though. It can't hurt to try.

I just saw tha aph rate for Feb. 2009 go to $129.99 a night at RPR. It was $134.00. They are still showing sold out for Feb. 4. But if you call they will work with you. I got $197.00 for that night. Not a bad deal!!!:cool1:
we are booked at rpr in december for $181 a night. they said we couldnt get the platnum upgrade because we have 4 people and the king suites only sleep 3, so we were just given the water view upgrade:need to edit this; just rebooked under ap rate $149 per night. NEED TO EDIT AGAIN... received a call from universal reservations. they told me they will not honor my platinum upgrade if I use the ap rate. They said if I want the waterview room I need to pay the $181 rate. I agreed to that rate but I'm a bit p.o.'d about it.I couldnt get the suite upgrade Im entitled to and I cant get the best rate available as an annual pass holder. Not exactly the loyal customer rewards I was hoping for
Upgrades have never been available using the AP rate. You can use the supersaver rate or the AAA rate and still get your upgrade.

:thumbsup2
ap rate never has included the free upgrade.
the loews program excluded the ap rate from their program from the start.
i'm sure some homies have received mummy dust from a check in TM for upgrades in the past for special occasions. those upgrades were done at check in time not at the time of booking when using the AP
