Funny how they say it is closing for refurb but its then re opening as something totally different!!!

I wonder if they will sell the sbing stuff somewhere else???

Yea, I saw that when we were there last week. We went to Downtown Disney on Sept 17, and the store was open (didn't go in since I was disappointed last year.) We went on our last day, Sept 23, and the store was closed. I knew I wasn't crazy that it was open earlier! We ran into a family that we had seen several times during the trip, and turns out they are both scrappers, too. They really wanted to see the store, couldn't believe it was closed. A guy came out of the store and said everything that they sold at the World of Memories was being sold at the large World of Disney store, also at DTD.

It's not like we're going to miss anything.
Melissa you can buy everything at all the parks and the resorts.

I wish Mouse Memories would open a store in the new shopping center.

Did y'all know that Disney is closing the Disney store in NYC? Supposedly they are going to reopen it somewhere else in Manhattan.

I was just at the WoD last week...I love it there!

Thanks Buffy- I did know they sold the items elsewhere and you are right its not like it was anything too exciting anyways! Last yr I bought a 2008 sticker and an album- was not impressed at all. I actually had to calm some people who were SO excited there was a scrapbooking store at dtd!
I LOVE mouse memories- we go there the first day in Orlando and my husband goes to the music store!

I don't understand why they don't have better stuff? I mean really, they license it all to Sandylion, EK, etc., why don't they sell that stuff there? Ah well, I'll be there for the Hanes store opening :)

I was an opening team Cast Member at that store. What a heart breaker. I have spent quite a bit of money there over the years. How can you get a better location than 5th Ave? The one in Times Square closed years ago. I wonder if they will go back there since it is so much more touristy.

The WOD in NYC is wanting to move to Times Square so they didn't renew their lease where they currently are. There are a few articles about it that go more into it. They say something like most families are in time square so thats where they want to be. They hope to have the new spot open by 2010 also.
