will my new vehicle be safe at the port parking lot?

We just bought a new SUV and I had some concerns with parking in the port lot. That's really our only choice. Is the lot a parking garage or just an open lot? Is their security?

We have parked there on three separate cruises and have never had any problem. It is a nice, secure lot. I have never heard of any problems.

We parked there in January and felt that it was safe. I am sure there are incidents where things happen to cars like anywhere but we didn't feel like it was unsafe.

would probably be the ants. There is a sign as you drive up to the security window warning you of ant infestation. Do Not leave any food or gum or anything ants would love in your car while you are gone.
We have parked there twice, once for 3 days and once for 7, with no problems.

WE left our SUV on the lot last July with no incident, but it was not brand new. There is only an open lot. They only open the lots when there are Disney cruises so that is the only time people are moving in and out. We were worried too but to felt we had no other choice. If you stay at the Radisson at the Port the night before you can leave it there but I don't know if one is any more secure than the other.

When we returned from our cruise, I looked over in the parking lot to see an SUV with a broken back window and cop car sitting next to it taking a report.

We parked in the lot for a 7 day last October and we had a brand new SUV, only 2 months old. It was fine, and we have a tv and vcr in it and everything.. ( I also prayed it'd be safe while we left it, too )

Oh, and it's an open parking lot, not a garage. Not sure about security though..

Yes there have been breakins, but port security is considerably tighter now than it had been prior to 9/11. Back in February I drove by the port on a Saturday afternoon about 4:30... half an hour before the Magic sailed. All of the gates to the parking lot were already closed... even the pedestrian gate at the cross-walk to the terminal. There's definitely more fencing and gates... making security tighter... than there was when we sailed last May. Although there are no guarantees, your car will definitely be safer at the port than it would be at the Radisson.
