Is everyone ready for the party? Those of us who missed the Everest event can make up for it now.

We used our glow necklaces as head bands last year, they didn't really show up against our WISH shirts so used them as headbands......

Wow already packed. You are good!!!
I'll be running with my fiance and really good friend. We're staying at CBR so hopefully the bus service is good. Really looking forward to it though I'm not sure if I should take it easy in the race or I should take advantage of the shorter distance to speed things up a bit.
Hockeychic: Maybe we'll see you at the party after the race, I completely missed you and the other disers at the Toronto Waterfront run.

10-01-2008, 08:48 PM
No packing yet for me! :scared1:
I did however just open up a container of the glowsticks to test one of them and they are all different colors!:woohoo: Some purple, pink, red, so they should show up against any WISH colored shirts!

Starting to have a minor freak out about this race! the longest training distance I'll have done by then is 5 or 6 miles. When I did the 15K in May I trained to 8 miles. I am trying to treat this as a fun race especially since the time limit is generous. The party is in the back of the pack right?? :cool1:

I'm looking forward to being there. DH really needs the RnR so I'm looking forward to sharing it with him. He was going to participate, but I don't think it will be happening this time.

Can I join in? DH and I will be there! We did the RFTT 10K last year and had a BLAST! I've never done a night race before. I thought the ToT started at 9:30 but when I checked the site the other day, the race start time was 10 pm! Yikes! We're going to need a nap before the race! Is there anything different that you do to prepare for a night race? We have 5:30 ressies at the Flying Fish cafe (we're also staying at BWV) that evening but I'm thinking about cancelling it. What is everyone doing about dinner? Just eat light and hope for the best?

I guess you've got to make the decision for yourself, but seems to me that you've got plenty of time to digest and enjoy the event.

I'm stressing as well - I started working out for this at the beginning of the year planning to run, and then I got a stress fracture and even after all the healing, it still hurts too much for me to run. Friends convinced me to sign up anyways and just walk it (especially once it switched to the 18 minute/mile pace) - I've walked 13k a few times so I know I *can* do it, but even at the slower pace if I'm not careful my legs hurt too much to finish.
But I'll be there, at the back of the pack, walking just in front of the sweepers and bribing them if I have to - I REALLY want that medal!

Amy and Figment: You are both going to be fine. You'll see, the excitement of the event is going to give you such an adrenalin rush you'll be stronger and faster than you ever imagined. Of course, you really don't want to be too fast since the moving party at TofT is all about being in the back. Don't worry, we'll all stick together and no one will be swept.
About the glo sticks....it took me about 5 minutes to realize that there is a small colored circle very near the top of the pack that indicates the color of the stick. I really had to look hard to find it, but it's there.

Scott, I just posted this on the other board, but John and I will be doing that cruise also. It's a good thing it's so far away because we are going to need all that time to save for it!

Wahooo you guys are lucky. Way to rich for my bank account. I believe we are doing a Med cruise in 2010 or 2011 but it won't be DCL at those prices. Royal Caribbean has some great Med Cruises I will be watching for there releases.

Getting SUPER excited about this race! :dance3: :dance3:
I'll definitely be at the race sort of "solo" since there is no way DD will make it to the 10 pm start. DH will be back at CSR with her. Last year when we were at Disney at this time of year, she was probably still considered a newborn (less than 4 months) and she slept alot of the time. She was at MNSSHP until the very end!!

We will also be flying in next Friday! Need to keep that high altitude conditioning for the race - it will be gone within 2 days after arriving!
Good travels to all who are traveling this weekend!
Lily - have a great cruise!
Amy - we will also be in orange for the race - so just look for that florescent orange glow and you will find us - the florescent green is also easy to find, you will not have any trouble identifying some of us, then just introduce yourself!
Have a great day - looking forward to seeing all of you at TOT!

As a Floridian for over 7 years now, I say take no stock in the forecasts! They change by the hour practically! And as long as it's not lightning, they'll run it in the rain, right?

OK, dumb question but we're staying at BWV expecting to just walk to Hollywood Studios for the race. Is that what everyone else staying at BWV is doing? Or do I need to be worried about those "roads closing"? I'm going to call the BWV fitness center today to try and book a massage on Sunday morning (DH's idea, actually). Off to print out our waivers....

Yes, you just walk to the start. I don't know why BWI is a resort where they offer transportation??? Save it for a resort you can't walk from. More logistical questions with this race???

Yay I'm so excited! My friend and I walked 8 miles over the weekend (just to make sure we both could, given injuries etc) and we did, though not in fast enough time. We weren't trying to, though, so we're just going with the idea that the adrenaline will get us through and not swept. =)
DH and I are flying down on Friday and spending the night at AllStar Sports, but then we're switching to Beach Club on Saturday. We don't have park tickets for Friday (since we're picking up packets, etc) but I've never had a day at Disney with no plans! Anyone have a suggestion of something that won't kill us the day before the race? =)
Looking forward to meeting you all!

Room for one more? Or two? DOOD and I have made the last-minute decision to stick with our original plan and do ToT. We fly out Friday.
And that's a good lesson for all of us. Just stick with the plan. You'll be happier if you do. (I say this to myself, knowing my training plan is probably sitting somewhere at the bottom of my gym bag. Which hasn't been used consistently since I decided I didn't need that flu shot, and was proven wrong. So terribly wrong.)
Anyway, I'll be there and hope to meet many of you! I'm expecting to see a sea of lime green in front of me to keep me motivated. :dance3:
