View Full Version : "I never complain - so why did Disney comp our room?" trip report! *UPDATED 10/28*

Well, we just got back from a wonderfully magical and exhausting 6 day trip to the World. I absolutely hate the fact that we are back - even though 3 out of the 4 of us were horribly sick by our last day. We had a wonderful time and made so many wonderful memories with our 13 month old daughter.
So stick around and I will do my best to keep you interested in our trip - I have tons of pictures and some interesting stories - from how my husband ended up in the luggage room at POP, to a near stabbing - yes, I did just write a near stabbing - free dining - and a glass slipper.
This is my first trip report, so while I may lack the wit some others have or the writing skills, hopefully I can make up for it in food porn and adorable pictures of my daughter.
Up next the cast, and is my xanax in that luggage you just lost??

Thanks for being the first to post!
There were really no downs at all! It may have seemed like it at the moment, but it was wonderful and perfect and I loved every second of it!

Okay! Now on to my favorite part of most trip reports - the pictures! I have TONS from this trip so if you dont like pictures - bail out now!
The cast...
I am a 30 year old, Disney-loving mama to 1 beautiful girl - I have spent the past 5 months planning this trip and nothing happened like I thought it would! :lmao:
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008065.jpg
DH - Matthew - swore he would never wear a Mickey shirt while in Disney - stick around to see if that changed! He loves Disney, he just forgets how much he does love it until we are there
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008351.jpg
Gianna - our incrediblly high-spirited 13 month old daughter - never met a stranger and makes friends everywhere she goes. Our princess.

Mimi - my mom, the perfect person to bring to Disney - up for almost anything and happy just to be there!

Up next the cast, and is my xanax in that luggage you just lost??
OK, now THAT'S scary stuff! I need to take xanax before our flights too and I even have frequent nightmares that I am on a plane that is getting ready to take-off and I didn't take my xanax. :scared:
We leave for Disney in less than 3 weeks and I've had my xanax prescription refilled for over a month already. Priorities I tell ya!
Looking forward to your trip report.
Your DD is such a cutie!

Day 1 - Part 1
We were up bright and early at 4am to make our flight to Orlando which was scheduled to leave at 7:30am. I had a really bad experience flying a few years back and my nerves get the best of me now while flying, so it is in the best interest for me and everyone around me, for me to take a Xanax before all flights. So, I did and everything went perfectly. I was a little concerned about Gianna flying for the first time, but she was out like a light before we took off.
We landed and headed for Disney's Magical Express!!!! Woohoo!!!! I cannot believe we are finally here! The line wasnt too long and before we knew it we were on our way to POP. A short 30 minutes later we were there!
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008451.jpg
It is around noon when we check in - the lines arent bad at all - and our rooms are not ready yet, which is fine, I was not expecting them to be. The Cast Member helping us is very nice and asks about my birthday and my husband's and daughter's 1st time being there, she gives us buttons and asks if we want a fridge in our room. I did, but didnt want to fork out the extra money, so I said we were fine. She then said, well I think I can get you a fridge and not charge you!! Not a dream from the Dream Squad, but a mini one nonetheless!! We are off to a great start! We asked for a room in the 50's section, but got connecting rooms in the 80's, which nobody complained about.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008364.jpg
Next we bring our carry-on luggage to luggage assistance and head off to Epcot!!

I love pictures!! This will be my kind of report. When we went to WDW last year I took over 1000 pictures.
If my memory stick would have held many more, there would have been close to a 1000 as well! You can never have too many pictures of Disney!
ok must I say your mom looks like she would be a hoot. You can tell by her look on Dumbo. Your little ones is so cute but my kids wont keep glasses on for nothing. Can't wait to see more of your pics and read more of your story
That was a very RARE moment when my daughter had those glasses on!! She loves to play with them but not keep them on. I managed to snap a quick picture and then the next thing you know, they were on the ground!
OK, now THAT'S scary stuff! I need to take xanax before our flights too and I even have frequent nightmares that I am on a plane that is getting ready to take-off and I didn't take my xanax. :scared:

I completely understand your nightmares. I am the same way. I had a near panic attack when I couldnt find them before our flight. Flying is just not something I can do with them. But all is well if my prescription is filled!

Day 1 - Part 2
So we hop on a bus and according to our itinerary, we are off to Epcot!! I am so excited about this, because my husband has never been to Epcot and it is one of my favorite parks. When we are walking up, we see this sign...
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Copy2ofDisney2008004.jpg
And I just KNOW we will get picked by the Dream Squad for something! I can feel it in my stomach - or maybe that is my stomach growling?? We realize we havent eaten anything today and it is close to 2pm, so we head off to Sunshine Seasons, since I heard so many great things about it here on the DIS!
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008006-1.jpg
Now my mom eats meat, my husband and I eat fish, but no read meat, poulty, pork - you get the point, so I am hoping they have something for the two of us. My husband then declares we are on vacation and he is going to eat anything he wants. How can I argue with that? We are on vacation and if the man wants a steak and he hasnt had one on two years, I am not going to say anything.
And this is where I decide to tell everyone they are not allowed to touch their food until I take pictures. No one really gets why I want to take pictures of food, but there was no arguing - by the end of the trip Matthew was taking pictures of his own food.
I ended up getting the Vegetable Cuban sandwich
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008007.jpg
Very tasty - I would get it again any day.
Matthew got a turkey sandwich and some kind of cheesecake - maybe Butterfinger?? He said both were good.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Copy2ofDisney2008008.jpg
I also got the Apple Flan, since we have Free Dining!
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Copy2ofDisney2008009.jpg
Interesting and not bad - the clear jelly part on the top kind of turned me off of it though.

Day 1 - Part 3
After we eat, we notice there are no waits for ANYTHING expect Soarin' and that is only a 20 minute wait, so we Fastpass Soarin' and head off to do some rides.
None of us had ever done Living with the Land before, so we decided to give it a try. We walked right on, but before we did, Gianna decided she needed to try on her Daddy's hat.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/CopyofDisney2008015.jpg
Living with the Land was a very interesting ride - we all enjoyed it. I took a picture of the Jack Fruit, since we have a cat named Jack. I know, it doesnt make any sense, but I had never even heard of a Jack Fruit before this ride.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008019.jpg
Next up, The Seas with Nemo and Friends! Very cute ride, everyone's first time on it - Gianna loved it.

Day 1 - Part 4
Since there is no wait for any of the rides, Matthew and I decide to ride Test Track, Mission:Space and Soarin'. Mimi was content to sit with Gianna and look around while we rode.
I have done all these rides before, but Test Track and Mission:Space were new to Matthew. He loved Test Track. Mission:Space he did not care for. I love it, but realize it is not for everyone.
And of course who doesnt like Soarin?
Next I notice Club Cool and said why dont we go in here for some free samples?
Poor, unsuspecting Matthew...
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008029.jpg
Do you see that look on his face - That "Why do you want to take a picture of me with this drink and none of the others I have tried?"
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008030.jpg
You guessed it! It was Beverly! :lmao: I think he said "WHY? Why would they do that???" :rotfl2:
Some of the others were actually quite good though. I really enjoyed the one from Israel.
And since we were so close and there was hardly a wait at all, we decided to meet some characters. Now Gianna LOVES Mickey Mouse. Her whole face lights up when she sees him. We didnt get too may good pictures here and I have ordered any from Photopass yet.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008040.jpg
By this time, we are getting a little tired. We had ADR's at Coral Reef at 7:30, but we decided to try to get in a little earlier. We didnt have to wait long before we were seated. We werent next to the tank, but we still had a good view.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008057.jpg
I started off with an Octupus Juice - So yummy!!
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008051.jpg
And Matthew had a Reef Runner - also good
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008052.jpg
I had the grilled Mahi Mahi - and let me tell you, it was perfect. Everything was soooo delicious. I could eat this everyday.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008058.jpg
Matthew had the fish of the day which was Grouper - and oh my, it was wonderful.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008061.jpg
For dessert I had the butterscotch creme brulee - it was very good but couldnt taste the butterscotch.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008002.jpg
And Matthew had the Jack Daniel's Mousse - not my favorite, but I am not a big chocolate person.

Your daughter is so darling!! I'm thinking of taking my DGS (who will be almost 14 mos old) for my Dec 08 trip but DD is not sure how he will be. He is great in strollers and shopping carts but not sure about the rides. Your daughter seems to be really enjoying everything and how lucky you were to have her grandma along.
The pics of the food are great! I am SO hungry right now and that Mahi-Mahi looks to die for!

Thank you so much! Our daughter loved it. She did get tired and cranky at times, but we scheduled time to go back to the the resort and relax and nap and just let her out of her stroller for a few hours. She loved the rides and characters. Her face was just priceless throughout the whole trip. I would totally bring your DGS.
The Mahi was incredible. The best food of the trip for me.

Day 1 - Part 5
After a fantastic meal at Coral Reef we decided to head back to POP and unpack and rest. We had had a long day already and it was going on 9pm now.
We go find our connecting rooms in the 80's section.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008080.jpg
And I wasnt too sure what to expect, but we were very pleased with the rooms. I dont think they were much, if any smaller than the moderates we are used to.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008013.jpg
And Gianna loved the towel animal Mouskeeping left. It was very cute with lots of stickers.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008031.jpg
Then I hear a knock on the connecting door from my mom's room. I open it up and she says - "Do you have your luggage?" :headache:
I did not. And neither did she. We had arrived round noon that day and it was now 9:30pm - plenty of time for our luggage to have been brought to our rooms. Our carry-ons were there that we had left with luggage assistance, but nothing we had checked. Which had lots of things we were needing by that time.
So my mom calls down and asks the CM what is going on - she says someone from luggage will have to call us back. We waited 30 minutes and hadnt heard anything, so Matthew gives them a call. They tell him the same thing and transfer him to luggage where he is on hold for 10 minutes. No one ever picks up.
He decided to go down to the front desk. G is getting a little fussy now and is really needs a bath - but her bath stuff is in the luggage. Matthew calls me about 20 minutes later and says they cant find any of our luggage and told him it has never been checked in. :scared: They then tell him he is more than welcome to look through their luggage department. :confused3
Shouldnt they be doing that? That is not Matthew's job to do that - but he says fine and he does. He calls me 30 minutes later saying he found our luggage, but is still looking for my moms.
It is around 11pm now and we are not too happy. A very chipper young man brings up our luggage and says "We found your luggage!" I reply - "You found it - or my husband found it?" He looks a little uncomfortable and says - "Your husband." I ask him if my husband can find it - why couldnt they find it? And that I wasnt really happy that he was down there having to dig through tons of luggage. But I knew I was barking up the wrong tree, so I just said thank you and shut the door.
While this was happening, Gianna was playing by the connecting doors and I hear her start crying. There was something sharp on the bottom of the door and it had somehow sliced through her big toe and it was bleeding everywhere now. I am so upset and frustrated, but luckily Gianna only cried for a minute and as soon as I cleaned it up and put a Hello Kitty bandaid on it, she she off playing with something else.
Up next.....did Matthew find Mimi's luggage???

Don't leave us hanging!!!!
Great report. Let's see...... will you be comped because of the luggage mess, or because of the cut on the toe, or the *near stabbing*? I would think any one of those would be reason for a comped room.
You didn't complain, huh? Maybe we're not so much a like, afterall? ;)
p.s. my other responses are red, because I'm too lazy to figure out how to multi-quote the same response.

Day 1 - Part 6
Around midnight that night a sweaty Matthew comes back to the room with my mom's luggage. He had been down there an hour and a half looking for our luggage, which supposedly was not there. He wasnt too happy at this point, but I told him at least we had our luggage and we could have a good trip with clean clothes!
He was told someone would contact us about what had happened and maybe they would be able to get us Fastpasses or Disney Dollars. :thumbsup2 I was totally happy with that!!
So now, I knew I had my Xanax for the flight back - which made me happy and we are all able to shower and go to sleep. Even though it was a bit later than we expected.

You know, if I would have been anywhere else, I would have marched down there and complained, but I didnt want to let anything bother me. I was in my happy place and just said to myself - we have the luggage, so it is all good. Matthew never complains and he did this time. We got something very special later on in the trip because of his complaining though!
You will have to wait for that one!
I didnt say anything to them about the cut toe, I just kept the door shut for the rest of the trip. But the door shouldnt have had such a sharp metal piece at the bottom. It cut all the way under her toenail! :scared:

I kind of felt like it was my fault she cut her toe, because I should have been watching her better, but I know the door shouldnt have been like that. And she is a quick little monkey, so in all actuality, it probably would have happened with me right next to her.
But yes, we were so tired, I just wanted to shower and get in bed. We all did.

Day 2 - Part 1
I am the planner of this trip and I had planned to be at rope drop at DHS the next morning, but with all of us getting to bed so late the night before with the whole luggage fiasco, we all slept in a little bit. So my touring plans got a little messed up, but I wasnt too upset. I remember I am going to go with the flow on this trip since we have Gianna with us.
We get up and notice we have a message on our phone. It is Jennifer from the Luggage Department - She is apologizing and saying she has no idea how that all happened and Matthew shouldnt have had to go down there and find luggage himself. And that they were going to comp our room. :woohoo: I go knock on my mom's door and she said she had the same message, so she went down to the front desk to find out exactly what was going on.
When she came back she said not to get too excited. They did comp a little, but not the whole stay like they made it sound. They comped $100 on our room and $50 off my mom's. Still, better than nothing, and they also said they were going to try to do something else for us.
I am still going with the flow :hippie: and was fine with that - so was my mom, but Matthew was still a little frustrated he had to do all the work and said he was going to go talk with them this afternoon.
I said fine with me, let's just get our first full day started!! Little did I know something very special would happen on our next to last day! :wizard:
So, that is how our room was comped. Though not comped like I thought they said it would be, I was still happy. Though secretly I was hoping for Fastpasses and Disney Dollars!

Day 2 - Part 2
We are off to Hollywood Studios! I was so excited to ride TSM, but knew we might have a problem since we were getting to the park 2 hours later than I expected. We get there around 11am and decide to eat breakfast at Starring Rolls Bakery - all the food pics are also in my food report, but I am posting them here, too.
First a quick stop for a family picture
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008060.jpg
This is the only day I wore my hair down - it was way too hot and much easier to pull it back!
Gianna just wanted Cherrios for breakfast
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008046.jpg
Mimi tried to share her yummy blueberry muffin with G, but she didnt want any
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008062.jpg
Matthew hates taking picture, I snapped one anyway
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008063.jpg
We make our way over to TSM and the stand-by line says 70 minutes!:scared1: That is not going to happen and the fastpasses were for 5pm that evening, and we wouldnt be there, so we went on our merry way.
We went to Voyage of the Little Mermaid - which G loved - looked through One Man's Dream - which was very interesting. And when we sat down to watch the movie at the end, G somehow poked Mimi in the eye and knocked her contact out. We left and somehow is was on her face, so no disaster afterall!

Day 2 - Part 3
Matthew has never riden Rock 'n' Rollercoaster, so we head that way. The wait is only 20 minutes, but we decide to Fastpass it anyway. Right when we are about to get a Fastpass a CM stops us and asks about our trip, we have a nice quick chat and right when I go to put my ticket in to get a Fastpass, he tells me to wait. I stop, thinking something is wrong with the machine and he does something and pulls out two Fastpasses for us! So we could go Fastpass something else right then if we wanted to!
Again, not the Dream Squad, but another mini-dream.
We see ToT only has a 5 minute wait, so we haed over there.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008068.jpg
This is what the crowds looked like. It was so dead.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008073.jpg
Matthew hates Tot, but he rides it with me anyway.
Then we head on over to RnR with our facstpasses and practically walk right on.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008072.jpg
We LOVE RnR!! It is such a great ride.
Mimi was waiting for us with Gianna. They looked like they were a little hot, so Matthew went and got everyone a pink frozen lemonade. While we were waiting, Gianna decided to entertain us.

Day 2 - Part 4
So after a magical morning in DHS, we head back to POP for a rest and bite to eat at Everything POP Food Court. I love the fact that you can get frozen cokes as your drink at POP! I hadnt had one of those in years and I was in heaven!
We ordered the normal lunch food - burgers and fries. Me with a soy burger though - which was the best soy burger I have ever had! While we are getting ready to go back to the room to let G take a nap, Matthew had some business at the front desk to finish up, so Mimi, G and I went by ourselves. We snapped some pictures along the way.

We get back to the rooms and Mimi realizes she cant find her room key. We go in through my room since they are connected and she puts two and two together and realizes she left it on the tray while we were eating and Matthew threw it away.:scared: She went down to the front desk and they gave her a new one right away. No problem at all. Phew!

Matthew and I saw the wait for Splash Mountain was 5 minutes!!! So we headed over there and rode that. 5 minutes at 4 in the afternoon!! We did BTMRR next - about a 5 minute wait for that as well. The parks really were dead - I had never seen them so empty before!

After riding a few rides we head over to Crystal Palace where we have ADR's for dinner. I figured we had to do at least one character dinner. We were seated a short time later and the table was decorated for my birthday! How do they know these things?? ;)
The food was pretty good. Above your standard buffet food, but still not as good as Coral Reef. I think I compared everything to CR after that first night.
Gianna's face lit up when she saw the characters. I didnt think she would be afraid, but you never know.
She actually kissed Pooh on the nose! Ahhh!! I get all teary!!!

Day 3 - Part 1
Animal Kingdom was next on our list and I was very excited about this. Matthew has never been before and I have never ridden Expedition Everest before! So off we go to Animal Kingdom! We get there before the park opens since they are having EMH that morning. We go grab fastpasses for the Safari and go grab some breakfast.
I share my french toast and Matthew's eggs with G
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008146.jpg
And the queen of silly faces never disappoints
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008150-1.jpg
It is already HOT this morning. What is it about Animal Kingdom that makes it the hottest park of all? You would think with all the trees, it would be a little cooler.
We go on the Safari. We got to see lots of elephants - which are my favorite.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008171.jpg
We are all miserable and hot now, but we walked the beautiful trails and head over to Expedition Everest. I am so excited about this ride!
The wait wasnt long, but we grab fastpasses and sat down with another frozen lemonade.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008175.jpg
We finally head over to ride EE!! We grab a Rider Swap pass as well so Mimi can ride after we get done! The details they put into this ride are amazing. We didnt have much time to look around, but I managed to snap a few pictures.

After Everest, we stop off at Yak and Yeti to grab a bite to eat and head back to POP for a much needed shower after this hot day!

Day 3 - Part 2
Gianna ended up taking a 3 hour nap! Poor baby was asleep before we left AK, stayed asleep the whole bus ride back - which was overly crowded and I had no seat, so I was trying to hold a sleeping 13 month old on one arm and hang on with the other. :headache:
We get freshened up and the touring plan had us going back to DHS. There were EMH and we had reservations at Mama Melrose's. It was raining pretty hard by the time we left for DHS. We had ponchos and put one over G's stroller, but she was much happier in the rain.
We did the Great Movie Ride, which Matthew and Gianna really enjoyed and it helped get us out of the rain. We had a spicy cheese pretzel to hold us over until dinner. It was really good.
Finally we head over to Mama Melrose's for our ADR's. It seems like I have to wait in line for a while to tell them we actually do have ADR's. I meet a nice man in line from Canada. We have an interesting political conversation.
Soon after that, we are seated. I am really hungry and excited about this meal. I am Italian, so I love Italian food!
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008179.jpg
I could have eaten the roasted garlic with a spoon. I may have a little actually.
Matthew is again trying to make up for not eating meat for the last 2 years on this trip, ordered some kind of steak
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008181.jpg
He loved it
I ordered a pasta with shrimp and was not impressed
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008182.jpg
In the meantime, Gianna has started doing something new. It started as we were at the table eating at Mama Melrose's
She would put her hands under her chin and grin really big. It was cracking us and all the tables around us up. She loves to entertain everyone. She would then start doing it back to you if you put you hands under your chin.

Okay....so where was I???
Right! The phone call! Let me backtrack just a little. We ordered desserts next. Mimi and I had the Crema Limone which was to die for! The picture didnt come out so great, so I wont post it here. But let me tell you - if you have the chance - get the Crema Limone. Gianna and I shared it and she loved it, too.
Matthew got the tiramisu.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008194.jpg
Very good and very rich.
The next thing, I see the manager and our waiter coming towards us with a Chef's hat and I realize what is going on. They start singing Happy Birthday and give me another dessert. The honey hazelnut riccota cheesecake.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008195.jpg
This was soooo good. Then the manager tells me I have a phone call! Yes, you have probably guessed by now - it was a phone call from a character singing me Happy Birthday! It was Goofy!:goofy: Very cute and very sweet of Matthew to set it all up. I still have no idea when he has time to do all of this.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008193.jpg
I think I forgot to add in my CP post, that they came out and sang to me and Piglet was there and gave me a birthday card signed from all the characters!
So Matthew has been up to a few things.
Anyway, it was a great night. Very special. And when we were leaving a family came up to us that had been sitting close to us to compliment Gianna and the little boy said she looked like Snow White. How cute is that? :goodvibes

Great report so far. Your husband sounds like he really did his research for those special surprises at the meals. Very lucky. My DH leaves most of that stuff for me to do -- but since I love surprising others I guess that's a good thing...

Day 2 - Part 6
After riding a few rides we head over to Crystal Palace where we have ADR's for dinner. I figured we had to do at least one character dinner. We were seated a short time later and the table was decorated for my birthday! How do they know these things?? ;)
The food was pretty good. Above your standard buffet food, but still not as good as Coral Reef. I think I compared everything to CR after that first night.
Gianna's face lit up when she saw the characters. I didnt think she would be afraid, but you never know.
She actually kissed Pooh on the nose! Ahhh!! I get all teary!!!

Poor Eeyore. He put his hands out to her and she pointed to me. He had his feelings hurt and just sat down and threw his arms up in the air!

Why did Matthew cut the top part of Tigger's head off?
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008127.jpg
We stayed for EMH that evening and had a great time. Gianna loved IASW. She fell alsleep while we were on the Haunted Mansion and didnt wake up until the next morning. She slept in her clothes!

We had such a great day! Animal Kingdom tomorrow morning!
I'm enjoying your trip!!!
I dont know what it is about Haunted Mansion and putting kids to sleep. My 1st DD(now 10) was 2 yrs and fell asleep and my 2nd(now 6) fell asleep when she was 18 mo.

Wow, I am with you on the luggage frustration. We had issues both coming and leaving the Pop. From now on we will handle our own luggage. My husband finally did have to go down and bring up our luggage because they never brought it to us. Then, when we went home our luggage did not make it onto our plane even though we checked it in long before requested. We didn't get our luggage for over 24 hours after returning home and at one point they couldn't even track one at all. They had no idea where it was. Disney takes no responsibility for getting your luggage home since it is not their employees who actually check out your luggage at the resort. Disney did not help with our luggage at all. If they are going to offer this service there are sooo many kinks that need worked out. It's supposed to make things easier, not more difficult. :confused3
O.K. rant over. :goodvibes Um, can I have your daughter? She's the kind of little one that makes you wish for another.:rotfl:

[QUOTE=Jenvenza;27912698]Day 3 - Part 2
Gianna ended up taking a 3 hour nap! Poor baby was asleep before we left AK, stayed asleep the whole bus ride back - which was overly crowded and I had no seat, so I was trying to hold a sleeping 13 month old on one arm and hang on with the other. :headache:
************************************************** **********************************************
First of all, Gianna is precious...what a ham !
No one gave up their seat to you on that bus ? Holding a sleeping baby ? I am mortified ! Where are people's manners ?
Can you believe no one did? I made a couple of comments *loudly* that I couldnt believe that all the adults on the bus wouldnt let me sit down. Even when I almost fell over a couple times. :sad2:
And yes, G is such a ham. She loves to pose for pictures!
Lovin' the report so far! Your daughter is adorable! DS is also 13 months and a total flirt...together they'd probably take Disney by storm! Can't wait for the next update! It's really nice to have a trip report from someone with a kiddo the same age.
Boy, you arent kidding! Have you taken your son yet? It really was great seeing everything through her eyes. It sounds cliche, but it is so true!
Great report so far. Your husband sounds like he really did his research for those special surprises at the meals. Very lucky. My DH leaves most of that stuff for me to do -- but since I love surprising others I guess that's a good thing...
The Dh never does stuff like this, so everything was a total surprise. Lucky for him I had a whole trip report printed out with times and ADR's on there! Otherwise, I dont know how much would have gotten done!
:lmao:
I'm enjoying your trip!!!
I dont know what it is about Haunted Mansion and putting kids to sleep. My 1st DD(now 10) was 2 yrs and fell asleep and my 2nd(now 6) fell asleep when she was 18 mo.
That is so funny! She was totally awake at first and then I felt her head bob a little and I looked down and she was out! Didnt wake up until the next morning!
Great update, what a sweet guy you've got! And that Gianna is killing me....:lmao:
Yes, he is a sweetie! Gianna is such a goofball! Her new thing this week is to put a piece of our clothing on her head and walk around the house. :rotfl2:

Well, she might be scared of them next time we go. I didnt think she would be, but you just never know! But she loved them so much, she would cry when they would walk away!

So your husband had to go find your luggage, too?? That is insane! I really thought it was just a random thing that happened - but now I think maybe not. It was so frustrating. Luckily, we didnt have the problem coming home. I would have really been frustrated then!
Oh, and my husband is asking for another baby already! I say we enjoy the one we have now and then maybe later on!! :rotfl:

Day 4 - Part 1
After a magical evening at DHS and catching the late show of Fantasmic! - which both Matthew and I got all teary in - we went back to POP and rested up for the next day.
I was really excited about this day. My two favorite parks were on our touring plan today. Magic Kingdom and Epcot! Magic Kingdom was scheduled for the morning, because we wanted to hit Fantasyland and let Gianna get to ride all those rides.
We hit the MK as soon as it opened and went straight to Peter Pan's Flight. We were able to walk right on. G enjoyed it and Matthew didnt see what all the fuss was about. He says he likes the Winnie the Pooh ride better.
After that, we decide to wait in line for Dumbo. The wait was only about 10 minutes, so not bad at all.
Matthew and G waiting in line
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008197.jpg
Waiting for the ride to start - it seemed to take forever
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008199.jpg
Finally riding Dumbo!!
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008207.jpg
Next we go to Snow White - which might have scared Matthew a little :lmao: and when we are heading over to Winnie the Pooh, we see everyone exiting the ride has Dream Ears!!! I grab everyone and scream HURRY!!!!!!!!! We jumped in line but by the time we got off, they were gone. :sad1: So close!!!!
Matthew is getting hungry, so we head back to Main Street and eat at Main Street Bakery. The french toast loaf is incredible. My stomach is growling just thinking about it.
It starts to drizzle outside a little, which made everyone run for cover and look who we see standing all by himself?
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008213.jpg\
Frontier Donald!
And then we saw another couple ducks - they thought G might have either been food or had food
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008210-1.jpg
We catch the Pirate Tutorial - which was really good. pirate: Then we see these guys hanging out.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008142-2.jpg

Day 4 - Part 2
After a quick rest and lunch back at POP, we head over to Epcot. I have been waiting for this day. I had planned for us only to see the World Showcase this day, because last time I was there, I hardly got to see any of it. And Matthew has never been and I know he will enjoy it.
We start off in Mexico and were planning on riding the ride, but Gianna had other plans
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008223.jpg
We stop and get a drink and I try to take an artistic photo - but I am not too artistic
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008226.jpg
Next up was Norway.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008228.jpg
We went into Kringla and I told everyone to leave it up to me. I ordered the School Bread and we all went to try it out.
oh.my.goodness. This is soooo good. And huge! We all shared it and couldnt even finish it! Gianna was still sleeping, so she didnt get a chance to try it out. We grab Fastpasses for Maelstrom and check out the gift shop.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008232.jpg
My mom wants to buy some of the perfume they have there - Laila - she got it last time and loved it. We got to meet the designer - Geir Ness, again - he was there giving out hand massages and telling me about Fashion Week in Paris. He also asked if our homes were okay from Ike hitting us the week before. He is a nice guy and good salesman.
Gianna finally wakes up and is hungry. So we walk to China, my mom decides she will feed her and Matthew and I go ride Maelstrom. I try to tell him how scary it is, but he didnt buy it.
I love the China Pavilion. It is so serene and beautiful.

Day 4 - Part 3
We didnt have time to look around at many more of the countries right then, because I was on a mission to see Miyuki- The Candy Lady! I have done so much research on her and am just fascinated by her and her work. She had a show starting soon, so everyone made their way over to Japan.
We did stop to take a quick picture in Germany though
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008249.jpg
No one was around for Miyuki's next show, so we got a spot right in front. The show was only about 15 minutes away. Before I knew it, people were showing up and trying to shove their way to the front. I had heard of mom's getting really mad that Miyuki didnt pick their kids to make candy for - or for people knocking other people out of the way for a spot in the front. We just kept out spot and waited to see her. I was not going to be upset if we didnt get picked. I just wanted to see her make the candy!
Before long, she comes out and starts setting up and explaining what she does. She said one candy per family and to please share. She picked the kids right next to us and they wanted a tiger. It was amazing to see her transform a blob of rice starch into a beautiful tiger.
I had asked Matthew up front what he wanted her to make if she asked us. He thinks it will be funny to ask her to make a Jackalope - which if you dont know what that is - it is not real and a mix between a jack rabbit and an antelope. I tell him he is not allowed to speak to her if she asks us what we want.
After the tiger, she looks right at us and asks what the baby would like. I say "Panda!" before Matthew has a chance to embarass me. :rotfl: She then says that a panda is very hard to make and starts on it. She ended up making a mama panda carrying a baby panda for Gianna and I. I was soooo excited! She handed it to us and asked how old Gianna was. I would have stayed and watched the whole show, but I wanted to give others a chance to get up front and see this amazing woman.

Day 4 - Part 4
After seeing Miyuki's show we decided to grab a bite to eat in the UK. I really wanted to see the British Invasion - being the GIANT Beatles fan that I am - but they had already started and there was no place to sit. I got to hear them though. I wanted to try the fish and chips. I thought they were really good and so did Gianna. Mimi also got some. Matthew decided to wait to try something else later.
Matthew wanted to go back and look through France and Morocco, so we headed by that way. I finally got to try the Grand Marnier slushie in France and it was wonderful! It tasted like oranges and cream. Yum!
Then all of a sudden Matthew decides he wants to start getting a pressed penny collection. I wish we would have started earlier, but better late than never, so we grab one in France.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008268.jpg
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008269.jpg
We head over to Morocco - which was my favorite pavilion last time I was here. Matthew decides to grab some food here. Gianna wants out of her stroller and is wanting to hold onto our hands and walk around.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008256.jpg
After that, Matthew wants to look around Japan and little more and I wanted to do a Pick A Peral for my upcoming birthday! There was hardly anyone there, so I was able to walk right up and pick my oyster. I try to pick the ugliest one. It had green hair growing from it. I ended up with a beautiful 7mm off white pearl with a hint of green and pink.
Now I couldnt see the green and pink, but that is what she told me, so I trust her eye better than mine. I just saw a pearl. We decide since we are coming back tomorrow, I will pick a setting then.
So we are back off to POP to get some sleep! Or at least I thought we would get some sleep......

Day 5 - Part 1
Early morning on Wednesday September 24, Gianna wakes up crying. Hard. She was sleeping in the bed with me, so I get up and pick her up and walk around with her. Now she isnt just crying because she is hungry - she is crying like she is in pain. This is around 1:30am. This just isnt normal for her. She doesnt wake up screaming and crying at 1am normally. Nothing I seem to do is consoling her. Matthew wakes up and takes her to see if he can get her to calm down.
Gianna is really used to be with her daddy. I work full-time and she isnt in daycare, so Matthew spends every morning and afternoon hanging out with her while I am at work. They are VERY close. But as soon as he gets her - the wailing starts even louder...MAMAMAMAMAMAMAMA!!!! Well, if that doesnt tug on your heart, I dont know what would. She is reaching for me, so I take her back and walk around with her and sing to her. She finally falls back asleep.
This happens every hour on the hour the rest of the night. She cant breath, she is coughing, her nose is running and stuffy all at the same time. She is totally sick. She doesnt want anyone but me. It was a rough night for both G and I.

Day 5 - Part 2
We sleep in as much as we can this day since Gianna had such a rough night. But that is only about 8am for me. I go to Mimi's room and tell her what is going on. She decided to go down to the gift shop and see if they have any medicine she can take.
Now most of you with kids might remember, that if they are under 2, it is almost impossible to find any kind of medicine to give them. The last time she had a bad cold, her pediatrician said we could give her 1/4 teaspoon of Dimetap and it seemed to help a lot. Of course, they gift shop doesnt have that.
I wait for our pediatrician's office to open up and call them and wait for someone to call me back. When they called back, I said we had children's tylenol, but wasnt sure if we could give it to her. They tell me to suction her nose out and elevate her when she sleeps. :confused3 First of all, I cant even remember the last time I used the nose sucker on her. I do remember she hated it though. But even so, I dont have one and the gift shop doesnt have one. And the nurse is having a hard time understanding that I cant just get up and drive to a pharmacy. We are staying on a resort. She acts like I must be insane and tells me just to go to the pharmacy or not to do anything. :headache: Colds arent that big of a deal.
But Gianna was having such a hard time last night. I  So I put Matthew on the phone hoping he can talk to them. But nope. She cant have anything. She wakes up around this time and seems to be in a GREAT mood! princess: Her nose is running like crazy, but she is playing and smiling and trying to feel okay, so we we decide to go on with our morning like planned and head back to our final time at Epcot. We have lunch reservations at Le Cellier and I need to get my pearl set!
We stop for a photo and Gianna hams it up for the camera, even though she isnt feeling well.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008260.jpg
Epcot is empty!! It was so great to walk around the World Showcase with hardly anyone in it.
Matthew takes some pictures as we make our way to Japan
Morocco is Matthew's favorite country now. He asks if we can live here.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008271.jpg
We make it to Japan and the Pick a Pearl place isnt open yet, so we walk around for a little while.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008273.jpg
Here we are picking my setting
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008281.jpg
The Pearl place opens up and I decide on a ring. I kind of wanted a necklace, but Matthew really wanted me to get a ring and since this was his present to me, I let him pick. Actually, a ring makes more sense. Gianna cant rip a ring off like she can a necklace - and how often do I wear necklaces anyway?
They told me to come back in about 20 minutes, so we went to Italy to look around some.

I love your report. I have a G of my own. So funny, when I named her Gianna, I wanted her called Gianna or Gia. But no her dad and big brother called her G and now it just fits her personality.
Your family is beautiful.

Isnt that funny? We tought we would call her Gia as well. But somehow we all started calling her G and it stuck. She is either Gianna or G. I dont think I have called her Gia once!

Day 5 - Part 3
Is there anyone left? Are you guys still with me? ;)
After strolling around Italy, we go back to japan to pick up my ring. I tried to take a picture, but it came out horribly. I will post it anyway, just so you can get an idea.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008315.jpg
It was set in sterling silver and I love it!! It really is pretty. Though having it "set" really just meant them gluing it on. So I will have to be very careful with it.
It is getting close to time for us to eat at LeCellier. So we make our way back through WS. Gianna has fallen asleep now, which is good since she hasnt felt well.
We see Alice and Mary Poppins along with way with no one in line to meet them. Gianna was sleeping, but I still wanted to get pictures.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008291.jpg
Mary Poppins was so pretty! And very sweet.
It was really windy that day and Alice was running in circles saying we were all going to be blown away.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008292-1.jpg

Day 5 - Part 4
We head into Le Cellier and they let us bring in the stroller because Gianna is still sleeping. I figure, as long as she needs and wants to sleep, she gets to. I was glad Le Cellier didnt mind either.
Le Cellier is a very romantic place - dark and romantic. We loved the atmosphere as soon as we were seated. It was a little loud in there and in her sleep, Gianna does this....
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008298.jpg
She actually put her hands over her ears!! Too cute!
So this will be a bit of a food report here, since so many people love Le Cellier or want to try Le Cellier.
Matthew tells me he has no surprise here for me today and I tell him not to worry. I didnt need anymore dessert as it was.
My mom decides to go with a lunch salad, so she can get the cheese soup. I think it was just a regular chicken ceasar salad.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008299-1.jpg
And she says it tastes like a regular ceasar salad. Good - but nothing special. Now the soup on the other hand - she said was incredible. I really wanted to try it, but it has bacon cooked in it and that is a no-no for me.
Matthew - still on his meat-eating kick - goes with the mushroom filet, since I tell him that is what everyone on the Dis raves about.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008301-1.jpg
He loved it. He said the risotto on the bottom was some of the best he has ever had. He practically licked his plate clean.
I went with the seared king salmon over lentils.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008300-1.jpg
I was so disappointed with this. I know Le Cellier is a steak house - which is not my cup of tea anyway - but I really thought this would be better. I didnt care for the lentils at all and Matthew makes better salmon at home. So far, I am not all that impressed.
Gianna has woken up now and discovered something..
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008303.jpg
Pretzel bread! This was really good! Tastes like a big soft pretzel. Matthew didnt understand why I was so excited to try this.
So, I figure dessert HAS to be good here, so I was ready!
I was torn between the smores and the maple creme brulee. But being the creme brulee girl that I am, I had to try it.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008305-1.jpg
It did not disappoint!! It was wonderful and creamy and perfection! I scraped the dish clean. Seriously - this was so good!
Matthew goes for the ever popular chocolate mousse.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008306-1.jpg
Adorable and very chocolately! I had a bite, and even though I am not a huge chocolate person, I enjoyed it. He liked it a lot, too.
My mom didnt want anything too heavy, so she got the seasonal sorbet. Which was cherry. She figured Gianna might like it as well.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008304-1.jpg
This had a very strong cherry flavor. Too strong for my mom. She didnt like it at all. But Gianna did, so it wasnt a total loss.
Overall, the dessert was the best part of the meal for me. I would not eat here again. Maybe if I ate red meat or chicken, I would have liked this place more, but I was pretty disappointed with Le Cellier. Probably the worst meal of the trip for me. Great atmosphere, but the food - only so-so.

Day 5 - Part 5
After our meal at Le Cellier, we try to get in a few more attractions before we head back to the resort. This is our last day at Epcot, so anything we want to do, needs to be done now. Gianna is still in a good mood, so we make our way over to Mouse Gears to do a little shopping.
Gianna LOVES Mickey Mouse. She can point him out, no matter where he is, or what he is on. She will take him over Minnie anyday! And she also loves cell phones - so when I find a talking Mickey cellphone, she was in heaven! And what does Matthew buy?? That is right - a Mickey Mouse shirt!!
Mr. I dont wear labels and I definitely not wearing a Mickey shirt - is buying a Mickey shirt. I am very pleased!
My mom wants a frozen coke, so she goes to Club Cool, while Matthew and I go into Innoventions. I sat down and let Gianna walk around while he explored.
Mimi comes back with frozen cokes and I take one sip and say - Ugh!! This tastes awful! Something is wrong. Then Matthew comes by a few minutes later and does the same thing and decided to bring them all back. Their machine wasnt working properly and the carbination is off or something. We throw them all away and head to Spaceship Earth.
I loved it! This was my first time since they redid it and we all thought it was great!
After that - we say goodbye to Epcot until next time and make our way back to POP.

Hi Jenvenza!
I have sat and read your entire TR. It is great! Love your pics. Also, your DD is just beautiful. :cutie: I also wanted to say, you are blessed that your mom is enjoying Disney with you. My mom will not even entertain the thought of a WDW vacation. :headache: As a matter of fact, she gets angry at us anytime we talk it...go figure. But, what wonderful memories you all get to enjoy from your time together.
What were your trip dates? I am thinking our trips might have overlapped. We were at Epcot (in the worldshowcase) on a very windy day a couple of weeks ago. It was great, loved the breeze, but my hair looked wild (and awful).:scared1:

Day 5 - Part 6
Our plans for this evening were to go to Animal Kingdom for EMH. But Gianna seemed like she needed to rest, so we decided to stay in. Then Mimi chimed in that she would stay with G and Matthew and I could go to the parks for an evening by ourselves. Gianna didnt act like she was feeling sick, so we took her up on it. After asking her if she was sure about a million times. She said they would go down to the food court and eat and have a great time.
So by now, I am thinking we will go to MGM for the evening, since we didnt get to do everything there. But I ask Matthew as we are leaving the room what he wanted to do. I told him to pick any park he wanted to do. They all closed pretty early tonight, so we would have about 4 hours at any of them.
And he picked Magic Kingdom! Ah, I love him. The park that is most geared towards children and that is one he wants. I am so happy, because it is one of my favorites as well. You cant go wrong with MK!
We get there and it is dead!! We hadnt even stepped foot in Tomorrowland yet, so we head over there. We see Buzz Lightyear has NO WAIT! I have never been and not had to wait for this ride. We jump in and and I tell him I will lose on this ride. I always do. But I love it anyway.
But somehow I hit some target and I end up with a score over 150,000!! I was stoked!! I totally beat him!
I pose for a picture on the way out. And yes, I look a little drained today. Not much makeup and no sleep will do that to a girl.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008307.jpg
After Buzz, we go to Stiches Great Escape. I didnt remember this ride really well and Matthew loves Stich, so we jump in line. It said 10 minutes, but it was more like 5.
Okay - so that is not my favorite ride. It is gross and dark and scary!! :rotfl: Matthew thought it was okay - but nothing special.
We make our way over to Space Mountain now!! Woohoo!!! And what does the wait say???
5 MINUTES!!! I seriously cannot believe it. I have never only had to wait 5 minutes for SM. That is insane! We decide to get a snack before and sit down for a few minutes and people watch.
We then walk right on SM and I get the front seat. I love this ride. It is a classic and so much fun. After it is over, we walk right back on and ride again.
We decide to see what the waits are for BTMRR and Splash Mountain. Splash Mountain had a 5 minute wait, so we jump on and get soaked this time!! It was still fun though.
Then we go ride POTC again, since it is my favorite ride. The guy in front of us is snapping pictures with his flash on. :headache: I say "NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY!" and he puts his camera away quickly. I am sorry, but it takes away from the ride and they say no flash photography in the beginning of the ride.
After that it is getting close to time for Wishes. We grab another snack, since we didnt eat dinner and find a spot. I love Wishes. It was great and Matthew loved it, but Tink must have had the night off.
After Wishes, I tell him we should go to Main Street Bakery since the crowds are all heading for the exits. We get in line and get one of their famous ice cream cookie sandwiches.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008308-1.jpg
Okay - this picture does not show how HUGE this thing is. It was seriously as big as my head and totally delicious!! We got chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice cream. I am drooling thinking about it now...
This is a great way to let the crowds exit and just relax before heading back to your resort.
And thanks to the Dis - I knew about the Kiss Goodnight - or Goodnight Kiss - I am not sure which it is. We get a spot in front of the castle by ourselves and watch it. It was so magical and not many people know about it obviously, because there was no one there. It happens 1 hour after the official closing. Watch it if you can next time you are there!

We head back to the resort after a magical evening!

Day 6 - Part 1
It's was my 30th birthday today!! I had no problem turnng 30 and was so excited to be doing it in WDW!! I knew Matthew had something special planned and I was excited to see what it was!
Mimi had bought Gianna a Minnie Mouse shirt and she was wearing it today. The mouse ears didnt stay on long at all though.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008316.jpg
We are going to Animal Kingdom this morning, because there were still a few things we needed to do there.
It was so much nicer there this day than the last time we were here. Much cooler. We know we have to see the Nemo Show and Festival of the Lion King and ride Dinosaur. We check out the times for the show and Nemo is going ot be first, but it is an hour and a half away, so we grab an early lunch and go ride Dinosaur. I love this ride. It is so much fun. Matthew and I were screaming in our photopass pictures. It is a great ride! Very realistic!
When we come out, we see a plane in the sky making happy faces.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008319.jpg
We go see Finding Nemo the Musical and it was wonderful! These actors are amazing! The guy who rode on top of Crush and did his voice was amazing! His voice was wonderful! The whole show was so good and even though Matthew doesnt care for musicals, he thought it was great, too. Gianna seemed really interested in it as well. But she was more interested in walking up and down the stairs and telling everyone she saw "Hi!"
After Nemo, we stop for a drink and Gianna had to make a phone call.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008339.jpg
I snap a couple of pictures.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008336.jpg
Now we are going to my favorite show!! Festival of the Lion King!! And Gianna has fallen asleep. I am sure she will wake up when we get in there....right???

I am really enjoying your trip report. Your daugther is so cute. I hope you had an awesome 30th birthday at WDW. I spent my 20th there, and my DH is taking me for my 30th next August. I am actually excited about turning 30 and in someways can't wait.

I've heard the steak at Le Cellier is incredible. But I have been to other steakhouses, bought something other than steak, and been very disappointed. My problem is that, even though I love steak and can eat a filet for every meal of the day, I hate mushrooms. So that dish is a no-go for me, too.

Day 5 - Part 5
Gianna LOVES Mickey Mouse. She can point him out, no matter where he is, or what he is on. She will take him over Minnie anyday! And she also loves cell phones - so when I find a talking Mickey cellphone, she was in heaven!
This is Caroline EXACTLY! I will definitely be looking for this phone while we're there.

I am trying to think now if there was. I dont think so. Everything she rode, she was fine with. Never any tears. Some she enjoyed more than others though.

OK, I'm hooked. I just read your whole report and had to subscribe!
Can you tell me more of the Goodnight Kiss? I haven't heard of this.
I found a description of it for you:
"At the park's closing, the nightly 'Kiss Goodnight' is performed, in which Roy O. Disney's dedication speech for the Magic Kingdom is played all over the park alongside classic Disney music which changes with the vivid colors of the castle. When the park closes before 11pm, the show is performed again at 11pm providing entertainment for guests of Disney resort hotels bordering the Seven Seas Lagoon."
It really was special seeing it, since no one there seemed to know it was going on. It seemed like just the two of us watching it.

Day 6 - Part 2
We make our way over to the Festival of the Lion King and Gianna is still sleeping. Matthew is holding her, since they dont allow strollers in line.
Now, onto the slapping.
There was a family in front of us in line - who didnt speak English - so I wasnt sure at first what was going on. The mom was holding a boy - who looked to be around 6 or 7 - and the boy was crying. They were speaking to each other and little boy kept crying. A few minutes later, the boy spits in his mother's face! :scared1: And I mean really spit. He reared his head back and spit all over her face and she responded by knocking him HARD across the face and putting him on the ground - all as she is wiping her face clean. She was speaking to him in a very loud voice and he is bawling by this time. We are all in a bit of shock at this time. My mom didnt even see it happen. But Matthew and I did.
After yelling at him a few minutes more, she grabs his arm and brings him over to the grass right next to us and pulls his pants down and lets him pee right there. :sad2: My mom says - Is he doing what I think he is doing? Matthew says - yep, he is. :sad2: Now, I may make some people mad by saying this and I am not trying to, but if your kid has to go to the bathroom - get out of line and take them to the bathroom! Dont make your kid cry because you dont want to mess everyone else's day up by getting out of line. There will be another show. The kid was fine after that. So, it seemed to me, he was crying because he had to go to the bathroom and the mom didnt want to get out of line. Now, spitting on her was not a good response to that. But I did feel bad for the kid. And I felt bad for the mom after she was showered with spit.
It was now time to go see the show and I said to Matthew - Let's not sit next to them!!

Day 6 - Part 3
We end up in the Elephant section at FOTC. I was a warthog last time, so it was nice to change it up. ;) Gianna is still sleeping, Matthew keeps holding her. The show starts and she wakes up, obviously.
This show is the best. If you have never seen it, you have to go. It is so lively and so much fun. Great singing and acrobats. I love every part of this show. I was hoping Gianna and Matthew would, too. Mimi is a pro at this. She goes to Disney every year, so she knows about the FOTC.

Gianna and Matthew adored this show! Matthew was sad when it was over and said he wished it would have lasted longer. This kept Gianna's attention more than any other show we had seen.
After the FOTC, Matthew and I decided we want to ride Everest one more time. This time there was a little wait - about 15 minutes, so not too bad. I was actually glad we got to take our time and walk through and pay attention to all the detail they put into this ride. It really is spectacular.

After a quick rest and outfit change for Minnie Mouse...er..I Mean Gianna - we were off to our last day in Magic Kingdom.

http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008377.jpg
We didnt have much time before our ADR's at Cinderella's Royal Table, but we were able to get on the teacups really quickly.
Matthew refues to ride them, stemming from horrible memories as a child and I think a grape slushie. Use your imaginations.
Here Mimi, Gianna and I are on the Teacups.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008380.jpg
After that, we make our way to the Castle for my birthday dinner! We check out a few shops close by and buy Gianna a big stuffed Mickey Mouse. She falls in love with him and wont let him go.
Matthew gets us signed in at CRT and we head inside to meet Cinderella.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008382.jpg
Gianna LOVED Cinderella. I have the pictures they took of the three of us, but that was it. They are SO cute though! Cindy asked if Gianna would sit with her and she did and was amazed by Cindy. Such a sweet and touching moment for all of us. princess: Our princess meeting a princess!
Soon after, we are brought to our table and seated. We are brought to one of the best seats in the room! Right next to the window!
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008383.jpg
Our server was incredible! We loved her from the moment we met her. Gianna loved her and she loved Gianna. Every time she would walk by, she would come over and kiss Gianna on the head.
We started off with the corn and crab soup.
Oh.my.goodness. It was wonderful. What I would give to have some right now!
Here we are enjoying it. Gianna and I were having a sweet moment here.

I enjoyed it. It was way too much food though. I could have easily shared this, but this meal is a set price for a certain amount of food, so there is no need to share anything.
Matthew got the lamb. Poor little lamb. :sad1:
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008395-1.jpg
I cannot remember what Mimi got and I didnt get a photo of it. There was way too much going on!
They brought Gianna out plain pasta with butter - which was really nice of them to do. She didnt eat much - she was too excited.
Suzy and Perla - Cindy's mice came out next and this was Gianna's face fromt the moment she saw them.

She was sooo excited!

http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008404.jpg
The look on her face when they came out was worth the entire cost of this trip. She made me so happy seeing her so happy. She was just thrilled that they were coming to her and paying attention to her. It truly was magical.
Next our server came up and brought me a mini cake. She said they bring them everyone who is having a birthday and the Fairy Godmother comes around and sings to everyone.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008401-1.jpg
We also have another dessert to order now. Mimi and I went with the poached pear. It was not that good. It sounded great, but was not.
A few minutes later, I see someone walking in with a large covered platter. She seems to be coming to to our table.
They walk up and I see Matthew trying not to grin. They say - Jennifer - someone at your resort seems to think you are very special and asked us to bring you this.
I am a little embarassed at this point, because everyone is looking at me.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008408.jpg
They present me with a beautiful glass slipper with rose petals all around it. Then the lady who brought it says to me - make sure you thank your resort. :confused3
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008409.jpg
I pose for a quick picture with it and they take it away to box it up for me.
It was beautiful and on one side it had engraved - Happy Birthday Jennifer - the other side said - May all your dreams come true and on the bottom it had my birthday 9/25.
I loved it! What a special gift! And then Matthew gives me a card from Gianna that said thank you for making all our dreams come true, Mama.
I am getting teary thinking about it!!
After that special treat, the mice and Fairy Godmother come around and do a little show. It was really cute.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008422.jpg
There is singing and lots of clapping. Gianna loved it.

I'm joining so late and now it's almost over!:sad1: When I read about your luggage situation I was so angry for you. I told my DH what had happened and he said "I would be p**$ed" Our luggage was lost last time our family visited POR. We checked in at about 10 a.m. and didn't get it until 8 p.m. that night. Now, my DH didn't have to go and look for it like yours did, so you definately had it worse that we did. But, I NEEDED what was in there. We were comp'd $50 and whatever I needed out of the General Store. Gianna is a dollbaby! I wish we could go to the parks when no one is there. It would be so nice not to see 90 min wait for the bigger rides.
I have never heard of the Goodnight thing. Did you just sit up by the castle? Is that where it's performed? I read what you posted, but still not quite understanding. (it's the blonde in me) Is is a show or just over the speakers?

You know, I would hope and think I would never slap my child, but I could see how this woman (and you) did. It was her first reaction and I dont even think she meant to...it was just her first reaction since she was spit on. I am one of those parents who doesnt even believe in spanking and I can see how this happened. It just wasnt a good situation for anyone!! ;)
"And then Matthew gives me a card from Gianna that said thank you for making all our dreams come true, Mama."
Now that made me cry....:goodvibes
I cant even read the card at home without crying! :goodvibes
Gianna looks adorable all dressed up as Minnie Mouse!
I'm so glad yall had such a fun time at CRT! That glass slipper is such a cute idea :)
Where did you get your Mickey shirt?
Thank you!
I got my Mickey shirt at a Disney Store where I live. It was one of their $5 shirts. I love it!
That made me tear up, too
Glad it wasnt just me!! I am a big baby sometimes!
FOTC is my 2nd VERY FAVORITE thing at WDW. The first is the Kilimanjaro Safari. I could stay on that thing all day.
I can't wait to ride EE! It looks like so much fun!
Pocahontas is SO pretty!
This is exactly the kind of reaction I'm hoping for! That would make every ounce of stress totally worth it!
That is the sweetest story I have ever heard!! You are so lucky!
This is my first multi-quote, so I hope I've done it right!:confused3
You did it right! :goodvibes
I love the Safari, too. You will love EE!! It was so good, I rode it three times!
It did make everything worth it. We were having a magical time anyway, but that was the icing on the cake. Her was was priceless and I will never forget it!
Great TR! Cute DD! Looks like you have some awesome memories!
Thank you! We had a wonderful time!
AWWWWWWWW....you guys are all so cute :cutie: . Happy belated Birthday! I am so glad you such a magical time.:wizard:
Thank you very much!
im late... i always am but your family is adorable and your tr is really good. i cant wait for the rest of it.
Thank you and welcome!!
Happy Belated Birthday! What a beautiful experience! Thank you for sharing that with us. You deserved every minute of it!
Oh, and I'm so glad Photobucket's working for you, because the pics of Gianna in her Minnie oufit and her face when she first saw the mice are perfection. How wonderful that you'll have those images forever!
Thank you! I am so glad it camr back to. I really wanted to share those pictures of her. She was so excited!
Wow! Sounds almost just like our luggage situation! It was a total mess, but by midnight I was just so happy to have them.
It was amazing to be in the parks when it was so empty. Really the only wait we saw all week was at Toy Story Mania. Nothing else. It was unbelievable.
The Kiss Goodnight is performed over the loud speakers. Nobody is performing live. It is a beautiful light show on the castle with Roy speaking on the loudspeakers. It was really a nice thing to be able to see. We walked right up to the castle and stood there and watched it.
Awww! The glass slipper is beautiful! And the card is too sweet!!
Thank you!

Day 6 - Part 6
After we leave CRT, we are walking back through the castle when we come upon a man walking in our direction and he looks angry. Really angry.
Now I am going to use the word "Flippin" for another word that I cannot use on here. Use your imaginations and "Flippin" might stand for a few words I cant use on here.
He stops right next to us and starts screaming at another man by us. There is rage in his voice and in his face.
"You don't ever flippin talk to me like that again. If we werent in flippin Disneyworld right now, I would flippin stab you flippin flippin!!"
:scared1: My mom is dumbfounded and is just standing there staring at the guy. She is saying "Ohmygod! I cannot believe he is saying that!!"
Then we hear "You ever flippin disrespect my wife again flippinflippin and I will flippin stab your flippin you flippin!"
I am not exagerating here. It was bad. And it had obviously just started, because there were a TON of children around and no CM's.
I had had enough of hearing him speak like that when my child and so many others were around, so of course I have to say something. Not directly to him. I am not THAT crazy! But I said "This is completely innapropriate. There are children here!" But with all his screaming - he didnt hear me. Matthew grabs me and says that's enough and we walk off. I see a very embarassed lady walking away rather quickly quickly pushing a stroller. I figure this is the disrespected wife.
A few minutes later my mom is still talking about how she has never seen anything like that before and I realize he is standing with his wife right next to us. I quickly tell my mom that he is standing right next to her and we walk away. But not before I hear him and his wife arguing and him saying Fine! We will leave then!
What a way to behave in the World! I am not sure what all went down, but it was totally not the right time or the right place to threaten to stab someone.
Next we stake out a spot for the SpectroMagic Parade. Gianna is walking around, making friends and this woman comes up to us and says that Minnie Mouse outfit G is wearing, must have been made for her. :goodvibes
The parade starts and Gianna falls asleep within 10 minutes. We decide to get out of there before the crowds get worse and say goodbye to the Magic Kingdom until our next trip.
Up next....our last day...stolen items and a call to the doctor...again!

HOLY SMOKE...wow...I can totally agree with your wanting to say something to that guy. I am somewhat of a confrontational person when people act like that around my kids too..I DEFINITELY would have handled it like you did! I can understand your hubby wanting to get you all out of there too!! What could possibly prompted that behavior? Even if the other guy "disrespected" his wife, it could have and should have been handled differently. Oh well, you certainly seem to have the right attitude in not letting it ruin your trip!!!:yay: Can't wait for the next installment...:surfweb:

I really didnt want to be involved at all. But I was frustrated he was cussing so loudly in front of my daughter and all those other children. I cannot imagine I would have ever gone up to him and said something to his face. I wouldnt want to put my family in danger.

It was beautiful and on one side it had engraved - Happy Birthday Jennifer - the other side said - May all your dreams come true and on the bottom it had my birthday 9/25.

OMG - we were there the same night celebrating my dd's 6th b-day. Our ressie was at 8:20, and we got to watch the fireworks. Katie didn't get a slipper, but I did order her a gigantic cake (that we took back to the room and ate for days - yum!).
Happy birthday (a little late)! It's fun to find someone who shares Katie's big day.

Isnt that funny? We tought we would call her Gia as well. But somehow we all started calling her G and it stuck. She is either Gianna or G. I dont think I have called her Gia once!
We never called her Gia yet either and she is 6, and reminds me so much of your little girl. My G is a spitfire. She is beautiful, but tough as nails. My husband just shakes his head.
We had a similar experience two years ago in line for Sully, two men were cursing and then started pushing each other right in front of me and my daughter and 3 year old neice. The rest of the family was on RnR. So I was alone with the 2 babies. If you have ever stood in line for Sully it is in an odd place by the ABC Comm. I could not get out and it got more and more violent and I like you (mother instict) started yelling for security. You will not believe it, but the wife of one of the men told me to shut up and mind my own business. Thank God CM started running as soon as they heard me.
The funny thing is the agressor walked away as soon as security arrived. Of course, I was so angry I gave a full description of the family and that that had started the whole thing.

As for the mother whose son spat on her - dreadful. I remember a few years ago at our local park a boy of about 8 ran off from his mum in the dark (it was Bonfire night) when she caught up with him she gave him such a smack across his head - it made me feel sick.

We brought Cherrios for Gianna, but that was it. She ate from our plates the rest of the time. But I didnt bring enough Cheerios, so if I had to do it again, I would have brought an entire box. We couldnt find Cheerios anywhere in the parks or the baby care centers!

Day 7 - Part 1
It is the last day of my TR. We had scheduled a late flight today because we wanted to have time to go visit Downtown Disney. Well, after we got in from our wonderful night last night - things started to go downhill. My throat started to hurt a little and so did Mimi's. After getting about an hour of sleep, I realized that would be all that I got, because I was so stuffed up and couldnt breath at all.
I woke up feeling horrible. Gianna had definitely given me her cold. My head felt as if it would fall forward from it being so heavy. And somehow my nose managed to run and be stuffy all at the same time.
I knocked on Mimi's door and when she opened it, I realized she had the same kind of night I did. Her eyes were red and swollen and she was carrying tissues around with her. She had a much worse night than I did. She was so stuffed up in the middle of the night and unable to breath through her nose. It got so bad, she started to feel like she was suffocating and called the desk to ask about the on-call doctor there. That is when they let her know it was around $400. Not going to happen. So she had a doctor call her back. She was crying by this time because she really felt like she couldnt breath at all. The doctor told her what to take and she called a cab and had them bring her to a pharmacy. They were closed when they got there, so they had to go somewhere else.
She got zero hours of sleep and felt horrible and I was regretting my decision to take that later flight now. Gianna is doing better and Matthew doesnt seem to be sick. So we pack up and have to check out of our rooms by 11am. We really just wanted to get back in bed and sleep, but we couldnt, so we decided to go to DTD anyway and try to make the best out of it.
I really wanted to go to Goofy's and try the make your own treats I had heard so much about on here. We stop there and I write down what I want and Matthew does the same and Mimi, Gianna and I go sit down.
I go with the rice crispy treat, dipped in white chocolate, rolled in crushed oreos, drizzled with caramel and milk chocolate.
Here was the end result.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008429-1.jpg
Matthew went for the rice crispy treat, dipped in white chocolate, rolled in peanuts, crushed butterfingers and another kind of nut - I cant remember and drizzled with white chocolate and caramel.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008431-1.jpg
They were huge and looked delicious! We were hungry, but wanted something else to eat at the moment, so we went to Earl of Sandwich. I started feeling really bad at this point. Sick, dizzy, hot - you name it. I told them what I wanted and I went to find a table. I could only find an open table outside. I layed my head on the table and waited for them. Matthew comes out a few minutes later saying they had a table inside.
I have no idea what everyone else got, but I got the Caprese Sandwich - which is tomato, basil and mozzerella. It was soo good. Even though I could barely taste anything.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w218/jenvenza/Disney2008432-1.jpg
We head over to World of Disney after we eat to buy a few last minute gifts.
Then I notice...where are our rice crispy treats???

We had a man sitting by us at CRT and he came over and told me he has been to CRT many many times and had never seen anything like that before! :goodvibes
I love it when Gianna is in her Minnie Mouse dress. And lucky for me - Halloween is just around the corner!

It was on day 2 that I put why we were comped. It was because of the whole luggage fiasco!
Oh ok, I was thinking they comped the whole trip LOL

Ok I don't know how to quote without doing the whole post. I am so used to cafemom. I had a great 30th except for the part where my 9 month old got sick all over herself and my DH. This was during MMNSSHP. He had to buy all new outfits for the both of them. We had dinner at Liberty Tree. It is one of my favorites plus the chacters were in thier holloween outfits.

Thanks! It was a miserable day! But I could honestly say I was happy to be going home because I was so sick. Otherwise I just would have been sad.
Me too...:guilty:

Day 7 - Part 2
Right when we start to head over to World of Disney, I ask Matthew where our rice crispy treats are and we start to look around and they are nowhere to be found! :headache: He had carried them with him the whole time and the only time he sat them down was when we ordered the food and when he got the table and came to get me from outside. Well, during those few shorts minutes he left the table, it seems as though someone snatched our beloved Goofy's Candy treats! Matthew searched everywhere. He asked everyone. Nothing was left. Mimi cannot understand at this point why someone would steal someone else's food. I cant either, but it is the only explination. We were only in one spot and that is the only place he left them.
So needless to say we were bummed. And sick on top of it. Matthew looks devestated. He feels like it is his fault. I tell him not to worry about it at all and we will go get another one before we leave. We had 1 snack credit left, so we figured we would just buy another one.
We did a little shopping, but I am not feeling well and I am ready to head back. We go over to Goofy's again and the lady remembers me and asks me if I am back for more. I said yes, but only because someone swiped our last ones.
The look on this lady's face was priceless. She was from Jersey and she keeps saying "ARE YOU KIDDING ME? YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!?!?!!!" She says it at least 5 times. I was kind of laughing by now, because she was really pretty funny. I liked her a lot. She said she was going to get the manager and try to give us two new ones free. I told her that was very nice, but she didnt need to. She disagreed and told someone to go find a manager. We decided we would just get one treat, since they were so big and we had one snack credit left.
It takes a little while to make the order and she and I chat the whole time. She never could find a manager and said she couldnt authorize giving me one free. I said it was no big deal, we probably didnt need all the extra calories anyway. ;) We got our new treat and this cast member is willing to call security and have them look at survielance tapes to catch the crooks who stole our treats! :rotfl2: I told her she difinitely didnt need to do that and thanked her for all her help. I seriously think she has one of the coolest jobs!
By this time it was time to head back to POP and get ready to catch the Magical Express back to the airport.
Stick around though!! There is a little more to this TR!! It isnt over just yet!!!
