Talk Abouts???

Has anyone had luck with talkabouts on the ship?
we are looking at them and wondering if they would work on the ship.
If they do work which ones do you have? motorola Bell South Kenwood- 5 mile or what?
we thought this would be a great way to communicate with our ds on the ship.

We have Panasonic radios and for the most part they were great.
We couldn't reach our DS in the kids club but about everywhere else they worked fine. In Nassau my wife stayed on the boat and met us later and we were able to give her directions how to find us. I will take mine again in October. Have fun.

We used the Motorola Talkabouts on the Disney Magic this past week. We had the model one step above the basic. Both a channel and subchannel. This prevents interference from others on the same frequency. They are about 40-50 dollars for the pair and run on AA batteries. They worked all over the ship and even from the ship to where we were shopping on St Thomas.

We have the Motorola T289 series. We had good luck using them on the ship. I did alot of research before purchasing and am very happy with them. If you have a Radio Shack near you and you can still find them, they are going for $29.99 each. In addition, Motorola is offering a $20 rebate per radio.

Now I know what to look for.
