So, I'll give this another try and see if it is worth the time to run these.
Rules can be found here (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1566404)
You may do anything to the picture below, in any photo editing program. Please let us know in general terms what you did, if it is not obvious. Contest will run till Next Sunday with voting the following week. If we get enough entries, I'll pick this back up, if not, we'll vote and let it die.
If you wish to use your own picture, you may do so, but the picture must be of a Disney Castle and you must post before and after pics.

Maybe entries could hold off for a while.... I mean those two alone look great and I am disheartened at my chances already. Heheheheheee

Ok, this took me about half an hour, so add that to my photo editing experience and you have about 35 minutes... LOL. I am using a trial version of paint shop pro I downloaded.
So be nice to me I am just learning.

I just adjusted the colors, put a 3d boarder and did some cloning.

Not seeing your picture, it says it is protected by owner.

Neat idea...I wanted to support the contest, but won't likely have any access to my photo editing software this week as my main computer is down for repair and I'm either logging in from work or a laptop (with no editing software).
So, since I do have a before and after shot of the castle already in my gallery, I'll use that since your rules said using your own was OK (in the future, I'll be able to work on the original posted shot).
Here's my before:
http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/94411635.jpg
I wanted to try some artistic interpretations of the castle and other Disney landmarks. I use PSP8. For this one, I first applied a second layer with a spotlight source, with Gaussian blur at 4, then used 'rays' tool from that source to make a funky background. I had to erase the rays a bit from over the castle. I then applied some desaturation, then applied a plug-in called 'sketch' to do a B&W line sketch of the scene on a third layer. Color was bled through with about 25% opacity, and then sharpened.
And here's the after:

I was mostly just having some post-processing fun with it!

Ok, here is what I could do with only the basics adjustments in iPhoto, I don't have another photo editing program.
I blurred the edges, upped the saturation and exposure a bit.

it's really not fair or nice to ask questions like this, they can only lead someone like me into trouble, so I'm leaving now before I'm tempted to give a wise answer...LOL

Made it nighttime, turned on the lamps and threw in a few fake fireworks for good measure

I made it brighter, added some contrast, desaturated it a bit and threw in a curve.

my take on it( definitely hope to get better when i get a tablet) i didn't do much with it:rotfl2: just in elements 5, added clip art shrek( hope that is allowed now that i think of it) drew a shaky cone with my mouse, cropped and added lick marks by liquefying the castle
i guess i just don't have much "make it pretty" genes in me, the wise guy ones are just to dominant;):)

If I can remember ... :lmao: I was playing around with so many effects that day.
... I took the photo, enhanced it a bit (sharpness, brightness/contrast), then saved it ... then took it and changed it to IR, saved that one and then played with the curves (lighten/darken) and saved those. Then I went into the HDR Photo Merge in PSPPhoto and merged all the pics together ...
Truthfully I wasn't sure what I would get and was pleasantly surprised at the results.
