Thank you for the new Oct thread oh beautiful and witty captain. We will promise to have tons of fun and share all.
As I was lying in bed this morning, you know the feeling, you are awake but your body is not ready to move yet, and I had some interesting thoughts. I have been doing my exercise routines the last six months with all the good stuff included:
Warm-up
exercise
cool-down
strength train
stretch
In addition I've done some cross training to vary the routine. I haven't done high milage but I've made steady progress in speed and endurance. But what I was thinking about this morning was that I don't hurt anywhere anymore. I would usually have some sort of soreness every morning in some muscle group, but I don't anymore. I do still feel exhausted after a hard workout and require food and a nap but the soreness is gone.
Not sure just how this happened but I'm loving it.
How is everyone's training going for the Big Show in January????
Erica and I will be ready. She is finally over the surgery rehab, got the locked toe joint fixed and has her neck pain under control with the Chiropractor visits. Her weight and inches battle is a series of victories.
Have a super morning and an awesome Sunday y'all.

OK...so yesterday was BUSY. I had the race then I took out little Miss Savannah to her first day of school. THEN I had to make a dish to pass at a party that Jordan's mom was having and go to that. I didn't stop until 10 something and I crashed hard. :faint:
Here's my race report:
After not sleeping much Friday night, I got out of bed at 3am. I drank my coffee and got my race stuff together. I ended up taking my handheld bottle to carry my phone in (since I knew I'd want to talk to Jordan during the race). I also took my own Clif shot packs since they handed Gu out at miles 6 and 11 and I normally take mine at 4 and 8/9. went over my packing a hundred times. Garmin...check...iPod...check...race bib...check...Disney Villain sticker on the race bib...check...change of clothes...check....bluetooth charged...check...bottle and gu...check. I was ready. I woke Jordan up and we headed out. There was more than enough porta-pottys lined up and I didn't have any problems using them ohhh about 10 times before the race. Around 6:25 they started asking us to line up and since I was at the back of the pack I hung out at the sidelines with my man up until the last minute. I was a little sad that my parents weren't there since my said they would try to make it for the start....but no time to worry we were starting the race! I started out slow, but I could get an accurate read on my Garmin. Not sure if it was all of the other people with them at the start throwing the satellite off but it was going berserk. One minute I'd look and it'd say 9:35 the next it would say 13:16. So I kept on and just made sure I was more than comfy for the first 2 miles. Then I caught up to the 5:00 pace team and stayed with them for a bit. I had to pee one more time so I got up a bit so I would be too far behind before I stopped, but when I came out I could see that the pace team was way up ahead. I caught up to em and passed them at a steady 11:10 pace. I was feeling really good, but worried that I'd burn out so I didn't press it. Mile ten was approaching and I knew that Jordan was supposed to be there so I was eyeballing the crowd. The I saw my mom and dad with him!! They made it!! I was so happy I stopped to give them a hug and a kiss and I started back out with a big smile on my face. Made it easy for a long stretch. The last 5K was mostly uphill, but I was feeling so good that I managed to keep it under a 10:00 pace and finished really strong passing people left and right in the last two miles. Hindsight is 20/20, but I really think I could have came out a bit faster and finished a few minutes sooner. I'm contemplating running a half in Nov...so we'll see.
I'm anxious for Vicky today. She should be out on the course as I type...
I'm sure she'll do GREAAT!
I'm going to go change the laundry..TTFN!

Good Morning, Team :wave2:
I did write yesterday but my computer was in super slow mode and no idea what happened to it. :headache:
pixiedust: Connie pixiedust:
CONGRATULATIONS, Eva! Great Race, Report, & PR :cheer2: :cheer2:
Vicky - hope the wind is behind you! Eager to hear your race report.
Erica, Hummmmmmmmm Toronto, feet, toe, & neck are all fixed! You are getting in the miles - Way To Go Skinny Girl! Hope you were able to get some quality ZZZzzzzzzzz :cloud9:
:hippie: Nice feeling not to be sore - of course I have not achieved that status yet, so will need to take your word for it.
I did a nice warm 11.2 miles yesterday. Was glad I wore my fuel belt and my new Minnie Athletic skirt!
Then off to enjoy the rest of the afternoon at the Fruit Farm. Our cute young Amish boy took us on a hayride, the boys rode the mini John Deere Tractors, (Hagen just wanted the real one), a walk-run through the sorghum patch - Hagen had to take the time to pick sorghum although we were just barely ahead of the pirates! He would have nothing to do with the crawling through the dark hay tunnels but enjoyed the excavation for dinosaur eggs, painted a mini pumpkin, and then choosing their own pumpkin in the Great Pumpkin Patch. It was a Great Fun Pumpkin Adventure with the little guys. Ohhhhhhhh and yes we just HAD to stop at the really-really good ice cream store. And this person that does not really-really care for ice cream had to have one butter pecan ice cream in a waffle cone.

Connie, yes yes yes, when Jon goes stalking Bambi next year we will of course entertain his princess.:cool1:
Margie sounds like you had a fun day, I haven't done anything like that for a long time. Crawling through tunnels isn't my idea of a good time though but the ice cream is one of my vices. I love ice cream, but it doesn't love me.:cloud9:
Scott, dude, I can't wait to see you and your lady, 3 weeks!!!:yay:

Margie, sounds like a great time at the farm!
One of the really great things about ice cream is that it is sugar, but then it is dairy and protein with eggs, add nuts, it's practically a ovo -lacto-vegetarian meal! Not all bad. As a matter of fact, a pastry is much worse for you than ice cream!
Scott sorry to hear about the soreness, but the way you guys are moving on the basement, you can have the whole gang for a party very, very soon!!! :rotfl:

Hi everyone! I made it back from my first 1/2 and had a really great time! I met Kim and her DH Mike and we chatted for a little while. She was super sweet and I chatted with her and Mike about the course a little bit. I also saw the owner of Running Skirts before and after the race. I told her I got lots of compliments on my skirt. If I can't be the fastest runner out there, at least I can be cute :cutie:
I intended to run the first half slowly. So in the corral, I made sure I was well behind both the 2:30 pace bunnies. But there were a lot of people running this race so I must have lost track of them because some where around the half way mark, they caught up with me :headache: I found that a little discouraging but kept on going. Around the 15km mark, my left knee started pinching so I walked for about 30 minutes. It was hard having people pass but I wanted to finish so I kept walking.
My chip time was 2:40:32.9 ... DF said that most of the people in the half finished around 2:00-2:15. That explained why the last stretch to the finish was so empty but it was fun because I ended up having lots of people cheering for me!
The only parts of the race I didn't like was the porta potties. I didn't think there was enough of them on the course. I think there were 14,000 runners and each time I saw the porta potties there were already 5-7 runners lined up and only three potties. I figured that would have been a 10 minute wait at the very least so I didn't bother. I also had trouble getting ice at the end. I didn't realize that the only medical tent was through at the finish line. I saw some medics who said I could get some at the Gatorade station or they could get me a wheelchair (no thanks!). The Gatorade station had ice but you had to grab a handful of it. So I decided to walk to my friend's condo and get ice there.
So that's it! I'm slowly reading and catching up on posts.
Have a great night everyone!!

Good Morning Team.
Vicky, we get to come up and race with you on May 31st. We are coming up for the women's race. Erica, decided that would be fun to race with just the girls and let the guys pamper them after.
We are off soon for a 10 miler, going early to beat the heat of the day.
They are showing kittens on the local news this morning since the humane society is over stocked. I told Erica to not even think about it. Last time they did that 2 for 1 special we got Jack and Will, the house has never been the same and the lab has a complex now.
Have a great morning y'all.

Vicky - We did it!! :woohoo: First half out of the way..now we can get ready for the "Big Show" as Dave put it! I knew you'd be fine...no worries (isn't that our saying?)! Thanks for the race report you did great!!
Dave - Our local SPCA was at the grocery store yesterday and I was tempted to adopt as well. If I had all the money and room I wanted I'd make my own shelter and rescue dogs daily. Now, I'm allergic to cats so Erica can have all the cats she wants! :lmao:
Scott/Lynn - The basement looks fantabulous!!
Connie - El Capitan!! How you feeling? I agree with your thing about ice cream. I eat it daily to keep me from eating things like cake and pastries...it's much healthier for you!
Margie - I just LOVE fall festivals...especially Halloween ones! It's my favorite holiday! Sounds like you guys had a blast!
Training:
I was scheduled to walk 3 miles today, but I'm feeling really good so I think I'll run an easy 3 with my pops. I'm tempted to go to the library and look at some other training programs. I guess I'm treating my training program like a recipe (I can never leave it alone and I usually piece together 3 or 4 different recipes and add some extra spices). I don't want to over train, but the Hal Higdon doesn't have much speedwork in it and if I want to have extra time to meet characters on the course at Disney I should speed up a bit! Back to easy training this week them I'll see where I'm at come next weekend.
Hope you are all enjoying this grand fall weather!!!

Good morning My Friends!
Vicki - thanks for the race report! Next time I hope to hear about how cute the guys at the water stops were, how the race smelled, what the start line felt like, etc! :woohoo: I got to do all my racing through you guys!!! I'm sorry that it was bad for your knee, are you going to see a doctor?
Dave - just tell Erica that 2 cats are pets, 3 cats makes you the crazy cat lady!!!
I am obviously not going to make my trail race the 18th, but I have decided to go ahead and pick up my packet and t-shirt and have the dinner. There were three men who ran the trails and then began building new ones over the years until they had a trail 12.5 miles long. The last of them died last month and I wish to pay my respects by just being there.
Everyone make a great day! It's gonna be a good one!

Scott, hope the 12 day marathon has fruitfull results. I haven't done a work stretch like that since I retired from the military. Maybe a lunch run break everyday would be good for a lot of your co workers also. I used to get my troops together for group exercise every day.

Margie, I was one of those First Sgts that took the job seriously. I wasn't very popular at first but after I turned desk jockeys into warriors, there was a lot more pride going around that squadron. When my desk jockeys won the Commanders Cup combat readiness competition and the Squadron Elite fitness award, I was a pretty popular fellow.
Soon after that I was offered the position of the Hospital Group First Sgt, this was important because I wasn't a squadron level First Sgt any more, I had a combat medical group to take under wing. I had a large military hospital with 450 medical personnel to watch out for.
When I took over that first squadron they were ranked the worst Comptroller Squadron in the Air Force. Just before I moved to the hospital they were ranked the best in the Air Force. The commander who thought his career was done there was promoted to the position of comptroller for the Tactial Air Command.

Connie - take care of yourself, remember that you heal faster if you are not in pain, so take those pain meds when it hurts!
The dogs and I did get out for 6 miles yesterday, it was slow, I seem to have to learn how to walk all over again if I skip more than 2 days! I also did a short Pilates tape, so a good start to my new program!
Today need to get outside for some weeding, I have neglected it for the past few weeks - we have grass and weeds that grow up in the rock sections of the yard, so need to weed the rocks:lmao:

Good morning team! It's a really rainy morning in Toronto - one of those days that's perfect for sleeping in but unfortunately there's work. I took the day off yesterday and went in for a massage. It was the first one I had in a looong time. I don't know why I don't go in for them more often - I think I should. I ended up with a bad case of "massage brain" afterwards. I was trying to book some training sessions with my PT and I couldn't keep track of which dates I wanted to book :rotfl:
Eva - Congrats on your first 1/2!! You had an amazing time :) I am definitely looking forward to January 2009 now. I think I can definitely improve on my time. And now that the weather is cool, I have no excuses for not to run. Oh I forgot to tell you - there was one little (and it really was) hill on the course. I heard a lot of people complaining about it. Not me - yay for our hill training! :yay:
Scott/Lynn - The basement is looking spectacular!!
Dave/Erica - Yay!! Glad to hear you'll be coming to Toronto! Kim and I were talking about what there is to see and do in the city. We'll have to put our heads together and come up with something interesting.
Connie - Hope you're feeling better! A Christmas run sounds like fun... Not sure if we have any here. There is a 5K Resolution Run just before New Year's. I'm thinking about doing that one since you get a running jacket for registering.
Jen - Hope it's not too late to wish you good luck for your interview... :goodvibes
Margie - My knee is doing better after the massage. I still have a little bit of foot pain. I'm going to try and ice it during lunch.
Denise - I watched the trailer and thought it was hilarious!! DF and I have some experience with the movie industry. It's mostly with the Canadian side so I'm not sure if it will be useful. I'll send you a PM later today.
Have a great day everyone!!

Boy am I out of the loop. Thanks Connie for directing me to October even tho my calendar still says Sept. Golly, I was all messed up for a while. I thought my teammates had vanished **poof**.
Well I didn't have anyone to walk with tonight, Mark had an appt. Nick was doing his own thing and Miranda wasn't feeling well so perfect time for me to venture out on 6+miles. I rarely do that after work but tonight the temps were cool and I was done just at dusk.
I mapped out a new route including more hills, sent the streets to Nick via PM and told him if I didn't make it back by a certain time to come looking for me. I was off by 2 min. not bad!
Like Dave I no longer feel sore or too tired. The most I ever did last year before the 1/2 was 8 miles and I doubt I'll do more that that this year but I'm stronger and more fit than last year.
Bunnyfoo, thanks for the comment on the moive trailer that Nick worked on. I got your PM and have forwarded it to him. He'll be at the1/2 so you can chat about movies then.
The races went well for our team mates. Thanks for the miles everyone!
The night the TOT race will be the night of my DD's wedding. She's getting hitched at 5PM at the lake here in town. She'll be off to Disney the next day enjoying her Just Married perks at WDW. We have a lot to do in the next few weeks but in the end, it'll get done, all will go pretty much as planned and then poof, the holidays will be upon us and the zowie - the 1/2
I actually was taking pictures the other day and pulled out an old disk from my camera and found about 10 pictures that I didn't realize I had from the 1/2 last January. Some of them are really good too. I printed them out and will display them with our medals. Big smiles all around!
Time for me to see my Mark and sit for a bit in the living room. I'll sign off and subscribe since we are in the new month.

Dave - 10 miles before work?! I'm dreading the few days I have to fit in 8 during my peak training weeks!!
Denise - I love finding old pics I didn't know I had. It's always a nice surprise!
Jennifer - Good news about the interview yet? I'm sure you did great!
Vicky - I had a hilly route for the half as well. Not as bad as I thought it would be. Everyone that had ran it before all said the same thing..."prepare for the hills!" I'm glad I didn't let it get to me too bad. I guess the really tough part is the send half of the full. They go down into a valley and back out..yuk!
Lynn - I had neglected my garden as well since before we went on vacation. I spent half a day out there Monday cleaning it up and it looks great now! I got a few spider bites and pokes from prickly weeds, but it does look 100% better!
Margie - I'm so tempted to come up for the Detroit Free Press 1/2. Jordan and I were talking about it and if we could find a way to not pay for the gas to get there or if I didn't have to take a day off work we would do it. I'm still looking at options...I have a feeling it's not going to work, but I would LOVE that! It's my home town and all ya know?!
Training:
Back to it today after a couple of days of laying low after my half. I'm going to work more on cross training and floor work as my mid section is getting smooshy. Less midweek miles....more quality miles though. We'll see how that works out...I'm sure my belly and lower back will thank me! :thumbsup2

Happy October. Time is flying by & just over 3 mos. til the January races.
:cheer2: Congrats, Eva & Vicky, on your great race results. Jen on your interview.
Connie, no exciting training stories here. The days are getting shorter. Just getting the evening runs in before dark. Next stop will be getting out the long sleeve running shirts.
Heard on the weather forecast that the area where our cottage is could expect flurries. BRRRRRR.
Doing the countdown to TOT. 21 more sleeps til we leave. Wonder cruise documents arrived today. Also Disney has change the itinerary to a double stop at Castaway C. :yay:
Now I need to vent!!! Why would you go to work when you are coughing up a lung? So rude & inconsiderate of your fellow coworkers. End of vent.
Have a great Wed. run/walk or where ever your training plan takes you....Sue

I can't believe it's October already. I like the cooler weather but miss the extra sunshine. Especially at night - I like going for walks with DF after dinner but don't like walking in the dark. I had planned on going for a run tonight but I still have a little bit of foot pain. I'll probably walk while DF runs.
Sue - We have a new person sitting in our pod. She's not part of our group but we had an empty workstation. Anyway, she's been sick as a dog for the past couple of days. I understand why she doesn't want to call in sick but I really don't want to catch whatever she has. All I can do is take some extra vitamin C and wash my hands. Yuck :(
Jen - How did the interview go? Any news?
Eva - I'm taking things slowly too but part of me really wants to get out and run! We need a running smiley!
Denise - I got a PM from Nick. I'll reply when I get home! I'm looking forward to meeting everyone in January.
Connie - I will get my hours to you tonight. For some reason, my Garmin stopped uploading to the Garmin Connect site. :confused3 So I only have my hours up to last Sept 21.

Eva, Vicky, and Scott... Thanks for the good thoughts and keep them coming. I think the interview went well. I felt confident with my answers and as I told my mom at this point if they don't want me it's them not me, there's nothing would have done differently. I find out if I made the final round on Monday.
No run for me today =(. I was too tired to run before school/work and it'll be too late afterwards. Oh well, I'm gonna be sure to get it in tomorrow.

Good Morning:
I had done 6 miles on Tuesday and Mark wanted to go out last night so we did our usual 5. I got up this morning and I look like I've been drinking all night and had mexican food. I'm gonna need a lot of war paint to make me presentable today! Hopefully it's just my sinuses giving me an issue. Seesh, I even scared Mark this morning.
Tonight we go for a fitting for Miranda's wedding dress so we're taking the night off.
Well I'd better be off for now, have a good one.
Connie, Mark said to tell you he's been to the Texas Pan Handle, went to Graham Tx for the John Wayne celebrity Rodeo, met a bunch of famous cowboys. He was in his glory. I attended the Houston Quilt show while he did that. Opposite ends of Texas but we both had a great time.

Good morning Friends!
Denise, tell Mark that any fan of cowboys and John Wayne is a friend of mine, especially one that has been to the panhandle!!!
I hope you get that job and that it is everything you want it to be, Jennifer!
Miss Bunny - You might try uploading your Garmin, Again. Or you can go in through one of the menus and look at your history!
Scott good job on the PT.
Lynn, How ya doin'?
Dave, sorry you have to inventory this week. Yuck. Just pretend you are Count Countula from Sesame Street who loved counting!
I am off to the doctor today. I have to stop by and make arrangements for paying Jon's super industrial commercial insurance. I have been able to make it in one lump sum in the past, but it looks like I am going to have to go with payments this year. ..AFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFLAC!

Good Morning Team!
Another beautiful day here in Wyoming! We did get a 6 mile walk in yesterday, for some reason, last night I was really sore, but took some Motrin and all was fine - Scott did not sleep at all I don't think. Planning on a 3 miler today. Then get busy on the chores, I have trim to paint and staining to do. Grass has not been growing as fast, so I think I can put off the lawn mowing until after the rains next week.
Jennifer - good luck on the job front!
Connie - hope you are feeling better.
Dave - hope you are surviving work!

Mark reminded me that some of you might have heard of Dean Smith, who was in charge of the celebrity rodeo.
Here is a link – note he was an Olympian in 1952 4x100 relay gold medal winner.

Hello team!
I started off today with a good run and good news! My lawer has informed me that he was able to remove my name completely from my ex's forclosure lawsuit!! My credit will not be tarnished after all!!!
As far as my training goes, I did some speedwork at the trail today. It was cold out, but between my tights, running skirt, thick wicking mock neck I was good! I did forget my gloves though - DOH!
Yesterday I walked for 20 minutes and did a tape to get some floorwork in. My whole torso is in pain. I have neglected my arms abs and back for entirely too long! My "love handle" area is so sore to even touch it that I find myself wincing in pain when I put my hand on my hip. I have got to get back into shape...this is a sad state I'm in!!
Anyhow..I'm at work so I'll try to catch up with all of your posts tonight or tomorrow...

Whoops! I sort of forgot about registering for my 10K Zoo run and now it's sold out. :headache: Oh well, lesson learned.
Scott/Connie - I think something was deleted from my computer but I didn't have a chance to investigate. As a quick fix, I had to export each individual run and then upload to the website. Problem solved - temporarily :thumbsup2
Didn't realize the time. So I'd better start the trek home. Have a great night everyone :goodvibes

As for me, I did 4.5 miles in 38 minutes for an 8:30 pace. I'm very excited as I wasn't pushing myself at all.
I leave for DC in the morning. We'll have to see if I can get any of my workouts in over the weekend.

Margie - Not able to do Detroit this year, but it's definitely on my goals list. Maybe in a couple of years I can go run the full. I have a few set places that I'd like to run after Disney and Detroit is close to the top of that list. I'll be thinking of you come race day...wishing I were there!
Connie - Physical therapy is just another HUGE step to recovery though! This is great news!! You'll be back out there racing in no time! :cheer2:
Jennifer - Any word on the job? Glad you know you gave it your all...like you said if they don't pick you, it just wasn't meant to be!
Vicky - Don't know why, but every time I type your name I type Vivky and have to correct it. I might just call you that now. Viv-key :rotfl: Anywho...that Zoo run sounded so fun that I was searching to see if we had one in Cleveland and it doesn't look like we do. We have a mutt run where people bring there dogs in costume, but it's a 5K on a day that I work...soo ehhh..no go.
Denise - Dress fitting!! Ohh...that was so fun!! Well...if you don't mind a stranger feeling you up and poking you with needles..but it was fun from what I remember! :lmao:
Dave/Erica - You guys off on a long trek?! Hellllllooooo!
To the rest of the team! Enjoy the cold weather...cuddle up with your honey and watch a scary movie...AFTER you run 5 miles and try not to get frost bite! We might be in for a lonnngggg 3 months!

Morning team:
We went for the fitting last night. Dress fits perfect which means she's done a lot of work to get there. He didn't have to do a thing except hem which saves me $$. Pressing a wedding gown  Could cost $150. He can do it for a lot less. Can you imagine? It's all pressed and then she gets in the car to go to the ceremony and poof, $150 down the drain.
I took last night off, I was beat from work and couldn't muster enough strength to sew or even make dinner. We had frozen pizza a glass of wine and then TV.
It's our usual Friday night routine but it came 1 day early.
Today is Lee Denim day at work so for a $5 donation I get to wear jeans and something pink to work. As a daughter of a breast cancer victim, I'm hoping my small donation helps make a difference. - off my soapbox.
Have a great friday.

Lucky I wear jeans just about everyday except court days and teaching in other location days.
In early as we are driving to Jackson Hole, WY. presenting there, still in WY so jeans are the dress o the day, just a short 435 mile drive. WIll be good to see the old home area, haven't been back in the two years we have been gone. Really don't miss the place the billionares ran out the millionairs, it is not like the real people of WY, it was 30 years ago when we were first there.
Hope to get several run in up there, training at 6600 feet, a whopping 400 ft higher than here in Cheyenne.
Connie, enjoy working with the pullies, you will understand, also get yourself a broom stick, there is an exercise that I did that reallyt helped range of motion.
Layer kids I hope to get in an afternoon run in Jackson.

Scott - Thanks for the advise. Oddly enough, I have lots of broom sticks, most of 'em have brooms and mops attached, but they can come off easily enough.
I get to wear jeans all the time too, and pink is my favorite color! Denise, take care of yourself! We need you. Make those checkups a regular thing. A few years back I had bilateral lumpectomies. Not fun, but fortunately benign. It's all scarey! Personally, I am looking for a place that does the new digital screening for breast cancer. It is so much more accurate and easier to see than the regular mamagram! -- Weddings are so fun! I am helping my daughter with the wedding of her dreams! It's her second marriage, but for whatever reason (one that I was never made privy to) she decided to be married and did it, in just 10 days! This is so much fun!
Dave has a blog, in case y'all didn't know. Yesterday, he had a wonderful blog about being an athlete. You can find the link in his signature. I printed a copy and have it on my wall. Sometimes, I need a reminder that indeed, I AM an athlete!
I am off the couch!!! In more ways than one. If I can put a bra strap on that lovely left shoulder, I am going to hit the tready for some easy walking. Nothing strenuous, just a start. AND I am off the couch and on a bed!!!!! I had a wonderful nights sleep and life feels much better this morning!
I am so excited about training for the Goofy in 2010 and about coming along so quickly with this surgery (weaning from the sling in less than 4 weeks instead of the normal 6 to 8 weeks!) that I ordered a pair of running tights and a triathalon skirt! Yeeeeehaw!

Connie - good news about weaning the sling - have fun at PT!
Eva - good news from your lawyer!
Did get in a 3 mile walk yesterday - it was one of those days when I dragged myself (and the dogs) out, could not keep up a decent pace, and was worn out by the time I got home. Went before coffee, that might have made a difference. I am planning 6 miles today - should be longer but I have alot of projects to finish today, today I will wait until after coffee and see if it makes a difference. It has cooled off enough that I don't feel like I have to get out first thing in the morning.
Maybe we will see more of Dave next week, after his inventory is over!

Hi Guys.
Connie, thanks sweety for saying the nice things about my blog. Glad to hear you are on the mend and doing better. I'm sure Jon is glad you can snuggle again at night.
Denise Yay for Miranda and her dress fitting. Erica and I got married in Okinawa and she bought the material, patten and thread and had a seamstress make it. Very enexpensive that way and you get exactly what you want. Erica is a very smart lady when it comes to doing anything. Makes me wonder what she sees in a hunk of chaos like me.
Eva, I love reading your posts, I bet you are a blast to hang around with. You and Erica have so much in common. Both of you have a quirky, witty sense of humor.
Margie, saving hugs for you.
Erica has signed up for the May 31st race for women in Toronto, I'm not racing but I get hugs from beautiful Canadian princesses, life is good.
Scott, that altitude training you and Lynn do should make Disney seem easy.
Lynn, we will do some training walks together at Disney. One of the guys I have been working with told me this morning that the glide he does now is so much easier and faster than the power walk stuff he was doing.
I'm off today and so as soon as the wash is done I'm out to push the mower.
Everyone have a super day.

Friday night is suppose to be date nite. I have a lot to do today and I didn't want miles taking over some of my time. So our date last night consisted of 6 miles and then sandwiches, sweet potato "fries" and martaritas. Slept pretty good too! Our new route consisted of a hill in our city that is the steepest, years ago it used to be cobblestone. I'm old enough to remember that. We went up it for the first time last night and that came almost 1/2 in our route. I was winded a bit and Mark had to take off his gloves- believe me that's really something for him - he's always cold.
I found out this week that there is an ordinance in the city that runners are suppose to wear orange reflective vests no matter what time of day. I had no idea that we we all breaking the law but now that we finish after dark we'll be checking into those vests. Need sneakers too, so I may see about the vests at the same time.
Well I have a ton of cooking, sewing and cleaning to do today so although I won't be racking up any miles today, I'll be productive.
Have a good one.

Good morning team.
I have another 12 hour work day ahead today so not any time for training today. Next week will be back to normal so I'll rest today and be ready for a power week next week.
Is anyone having shin pain? That is one of the universal issues between walkers and runners alike. If you are here are some helpfull tips.
Stretch your calves everyday, tight calves cause shin pain just like weak abs can cause back pain.
For 3 sets of 30 seconds each walk around the house on your heels.
Hang your heels off the back of a step to stretch your calves then after a good stretch do 25 calf raises then more stretching. Then turn around and do shin stretches by hanging your toes off the step. Then do 25 toe raises and then more stretching.
Hope everyone has a super weekend.

Morning everyone! I'm heading out for my first run since the 1/2 last weekend. You know the "rule" where it says to rest a day for every mile you've run - is that true? If that really was the case, I shouldn't be running for another week but I think by then my running would have dropped off. :confused3
DF and I registered to do a 5K to replace the zoo run. I haven't run a 5K before and normally when I run longer distances I run 10/walk 1. So I'm not sure how the 5K will work because it's a much shorter distance. I don't think I should need to stop for a walking break, do I?
Denise - Interesting about the orange vests... How did you find out about it? I should probably see if there's something like that in Toronto.
Dave - Thanks for the tips about stretches! I'll give those a try :)
Have a great day everyone!!

Good Morning Team!
I spent an hour this morning with a personal trainer - it was something I won at one of our local races. It was kind of interesting, this guy works out of his garage - mostly with groups of 4. This morning he had me running 400 meters, then doing squats, then push-ups, then repeating the whole process. I know the whole thing was to talk me into joining one of his groups - they meet 5 times a week and do a 45 - 1 hour workout that he varies. It is a tempting idea to get me into weight training. He charges $150 a month for his group class. If Scott and I both do it, he would charge $250/month for both of us. I was going to go into a local gym, just to compare what the cost is and what I would get. He describes his class as a "boot camp".
When I got home, I took the dogs for a walk, it is Kali's birthday, so I let her set the pace and decide the route, so it was a slower than usual walk, and just the short loop. She had fun being able to sniff around alot.
Since Scott is out of town, I will spend the afternoon staining and painting. Our weather is still nice, but it is starting to cloud up and it is supposed to rain for the next few days.
Dave - altitude training is why we plan to arrive at sea level just a day or two before the races, it wears off really quickly, (within 3 days) but we figure that it will give us a small advantage. I am looking forward to the training sessions at WDW!
Scott and I have reflective vests that we used to wear all the time when we walked after dark, and the dogs have flashy lights that hook onto their collars, but I have not been walking in the dark since we have been here. Scott wears his running jacket that has reflective stripes on it when he runs early in the morning. Don't know about any laws here about it.
Have a great day everyone!

Lynn that trainer's program sounds good if you are going to play football or going to war but for an endurance athlete not so good.
To start with those types of exercises are hard on the body. You would do better with a regular weight training routine and some twice a week fartlack style workouts. Then a long walk and an easy walk day should get you in racing shape quickly.
Your welcome Bunny.

Heck, for $250 bucks, I will set you guys up with stretch tubing (up to 200lbs), exercise charts and a greeting card. :lmao: OR I can tell you where to get them and you can spend a whole $100 - $150 and have them for...ever! When you use stretch tubing (especially the ones with the handles and door attachment) you can do ANY exercise that can be done on a bowflex or in a gym. Trick is.....you just gotta do it.
Oh, if anyone else is interested...I can set them up for the do-it-yourself order kit for free, or I can make you that special $250 deal! :lmao:
Thanks a ton everybody for the miles and hours! I may still need a little help from here on out, but I am getting closer and closer to doing it on my own. I got on the treadmill and made a whole dadgum mile! The hardest part was getting dressed for it and then undressed for the shower and then dressed again. If you don't think that's hard on a shoulder, watch a little girl play with a Barbie! LOL
I also went on my longest drive since the surgery. I made a 2 half hour drive through the wide open spaces to help my granddaughter celebrate her 8th birthday. It was a lot of fun.
The best part of her birthday though, was a call from Cinderella! She has loved Cinderella all of her life. And I won a free phone call from a Disney Character on one of their instant game things. They are normally $2.97, but I didn't even know you could do that....character call thing. Anyway, she LOVED getting a call from Cinderella wishing her a happy birthday.

Hey guys! I know I've been absent a bit this week. Between working full time, driving the hour to and from work, the dogs, training and housekeeping/cooking I am finding myself worn thin. My boss came in on Friday and offered our office the choice of 4/10 hour days and 3 days off and I cringed just thinking about it. I'm already gone for 10 hours out of my day when I work, I can't even imagine running after a being gone for 12!! I just don't see it possible. I have a few 8 mile days in Nov/Dec that I will have to run on work days...there is no way I could do it. I told her that it simply does not work for me...as did one other employee in the office. I'm hoping it doesn't pass, but I'll deal with it if it does. I don't know how Dave and Erica can work those long days and train as well as they do!! You guys have to tell me your secret!
Margie - Take care of that ankle!! I am looking forward to your report of Detroit so you'll need to be in tip top shape! Don't overdo your training and you should be fine! :thumbsup2
Jennifer - Yay for taper!! The race is right around the corner now! Take some Zicam and rest up! Also pixiedust: for the job!
Connie - I can't wait til my 2 yr old niece is a little older so I can get her a call from a character! That sounds like a GREAT idea!!
Lynn - I have to agree with the others about that trainer. If you were not an endurance athlete I would think it sounds like a good program. They have something similar at our local rec, but it's for brides to be. "Bootcamp for Brides" or something. Anywho...just seems like it would be risky in the injury department.
Scott - My iPod is acting up too. I think I'm going to get some new headphone to see if that helps. My prob is that it's all crackly..so I'm sure it's an easy fix. Have you tried resetting it?
Dave - Thanks for saying you like my posts. I am a little wacky, compulsive and neurotic...but I don't think those are BAD qualities per se! Just makes me different in a good way! Also..want to say that I've been reading the blog...even had Jordan reading it. Good stuff!
Training:
Out the door for 11 miles in a bit...hope that it stays dry out there! Did some floor work again yesterday and am nowhere near as sore today as last time. Abs feel good! :woohoo:
To the rest of the team...hope you are all having a great time. Carve a pumpkin...and if it gets soggy in two weeks it's not a bad thing..just gives you reason to carve another (and to make those yummy toasted pumpkin seeds again)!!

Eva, I hope that things get easier soon! A juggling act is hard, no matter how well you juggle!
Jennifer - Zicam is excellent advice. Extra vitamin C won't hurt a bit either. Take care of yourself and get well soon.
My DD put the call from Cinderella on speaker phone so she could hear it and watch Sarah's face. She recognized Cinderella's voice immediately and her mouth dropped open and she didn't say a word, only listened. LOL She called me and thanked me for telling Cinderella it was her birthday. I asked if she really liked it and she said it was very nice. I then told her, that I didn't know if I could remind Cinderellas next year and she said, "Okay, you can tell Belle, then!" :rotfl2:
Margie? How's that ankle?
Frenchlady! Congratulations on your RACE!!! :cheer2: Great job!!
Y'all make a great day! -- Connie

Hello to everyone!
It’s getting busy here at the Lareau household. This morning I started putting Miranda’s quilt together. There are 30 blocks and I only have one missing, that would be her fathers since he wasn’t 100% sure of what he wanted to write. He did it but since I didn’t gush over it, he didn’t think I liked it. Well the new one he worked on this morning, is perfect so that final block will be put together tonight. My goal is to get the whole top put together tonight so I can bring it to the Machine Quilter to do her magic. 19 days till the wedding with plenty to day but we’ll make it and then she’ll be off to WDW for the week of 10/26.
Did my miles yesterday and will probably not do too much this week. We’ll see. I pay the price if I don’t work out so in the end it’s better if I just take the time and do it. Even if it’s not my usual 5. Some is better than NONE.
Well I do have to have my desk cleaned up before I’m on vacation too so I’d better leave you all for now. I have read all your posts and keep my fingers crossed that Jennifer gets the job – I was thinking this morning as I was brushing my teeth, 2 min of quality thinking time. A few years ago, we wanted to build a garage, we would have had to take out a loan. Mark wanted to borrow more, refinance and increase our payments so we could be done in the same amount of time. It would be stretching things but we could have made it. Well things didn’t work out, there were many negatives in our way, we let it go. He was disappointed, I was relieved but now looking back it was the best thing, we can manage with our payments in this tough economic time, scrape by and hold on till things improve. If we had done the refi- we would be stuck in a sinking ship like the rest of the country. It all works out for the best so Jennifer if you don’t get the job, it may be for the best, although it may take a few years to realize that.
Have a good one!

Good Morning Team!
Eva - When we went to 4/10 hour days, I was very against it for the same reasons you voiced, but after going to it, I loved it! The extra 2 hours did not seem that bad, and I loved have the extra day off - also, we did alot of overtime, so if I had to work and extra day, I still got 2 off during the week (most of the time anyway:lmao: ). I admit that I did not have an hour drive to and from work, mine was a 20 minute commute - but alot of folks I worked with had over an hour commute, all agreed that the extra day off made up for the longer days.
Connie - that is the trick - to do it!
Diane - congratulations on the race!
Denise - you will post pictures of that quilt when it is done, right?
Jennifer - good luck with the job!
Thanks Margie!
Today I am waiting for carpet dude to show up, could be any time now. It will be cool today, so I will be able to get the dogs out for their walk after he leaves. Then I will get to my chores this afternoon - sealing the grout in the tile, painting floor board trim, and staining doors!
Have a great day everyone!

Will call the chiropractor today -
Eva - think my training is on hold - healing mode until Detroit so I can just Do It!

Hi everyone! I'm taking the day off work today because it's my birthday! It's a great day too - nice and sunny so it's still warm! DF and I went out for breakfast this morning. I miss going out on the weekdays because everything is a lot less hectic than on the weekends.
Eva - I would be very tempted by a 4 day work week but I wouldn't have very much time for training after work. I use to work a job where I was on a 12-8pm schedule and that worked a lot better for me.
Diane - Congrats on your race!
Margie - Hope your foot is feeling better today  To "help" with my foot problem last week, my PT suggested I stick in an ice bath. It felt a little better afterward but it was so cold I couldn't keep it in there for very long.
Jenn - Sorry to hear about the cold! Seems like it's the time of year for it. I hope you get the job - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you :)
Denise - Countdown to the wedding is on! Everyone must be so excited!
Connie - How are you feeling today? I got your PM and I'll send you one back later today!
Scott - Sorry to hear about the computer problems at the lab. Hope you're able to get everything sorted out. The ice breaker happy hour sounds fun though!
Have a great day everyone!!

Almost quitting time. Just popping in for a quick read.
Happy Birthday, Vicky.pixiedust:
Margie, hope you are feeling better soon.
Eva, I could so go for the 4 day work week. We proposed it here at work but Management didn't buy in.
Went out for a great 11miler on Sat. Had a nice run down to Lake Ontario & along the waterfront trail. Should be even prettier in a couple of weeks when more leaves have changed colour.
Weird weather on Sun. with isolated showers. Just made it home in time without getting wet.
Tonight is the usual Monday pilates class. Have had the same instructor for over a year & each week she seems more cruel. Man, I hate doing the plank
exercises.
Have a great evening, everyone....Sue

The cold's doing okay. I'm on the Tylenol Severe cold stuff and that seems to be knocking it out. I went for a 30 minute walk (with some jog breaks) just to keep myself from going crazy.
And the job news that everyone's waiting for....
I MADE IT TO THE FINAL ROUND!!!!!

Hi guys.
I've been telling y'all about how enexpensive it is to stay at Gatlinburg Tn during the off season. We are staying here the 2nd week of Dec:
http://www.thebearskinlodge.com/
This resort is very cool and $70 a night. That includes a 2 person hot tub in each room, fireplace and free breakfast. This is where we do our final LSDs for the marathon, before taper.
We did 8 hilly miles in Nashville this morning, we combined getting the "Special" oil in the VW changed, special oil change is $80, and a walk while we were waiting.
Sounds like everyone is doing good except for some healing. Lots of best thoughts and shaking a pixey over all our walking wounded.

Happy Birthday!!!
Congratulations! Jennifer! Knock 'em dead, kid! And get well soon! You know the rule of thumb about sickness and injury, don't you? If it hurts above the neck, go run. If it hurts below, rest!
Sue! I hate Pilates, but darn it, it works. And the plank.....:scared1: I tried doing it just BEFORE I knew about rotator cuffs! I bet I am scared of them for the rest of my life!
Bragging Panda! It's bad enough I am not going to ToT or marathon weekend, but now you got to go and make me feel bad about Gatlinburg, too! :snooty:

Good evening,
I am now in a maintenance mode since I only have one fun run on december 6 which is the Santa Shuffle in Montréal. So for the fall and winter season I want to increase my endurance. I intend to run 4 times a week with a tempo run once a week. And next year I want to do at least one half-marathon.
Eva: I do 9 hours shift and work mostly evening (15:00 to 24:30). I like it because I do my run in the morning. When I work day shift, I find it difficult to run before supper. And when I work the graveyard shift, I will run in the afternoon after a couple hours of sleep. And all this means more days off and overtime when needed to buy running things or to plan a trip down south.
Vicky: Happy birthday

Good Morning Team!
Hope you had a good birthday yesterday Vicki!
Dave - Happy Birthday!
Jennifer - Congrats on the advancement in job process!
Scott and I do communicate in strange ways sometimes! This is not the first time we have used the boards!
I spent all morning waiting for carpet installers - they were supposed to show up between 8and10am, but they got lost, and finally called for directions around 10:45 - they were about 60 miles away!!!! They finally left at 12:30, but the carpet looks good. I then just started my projects, and the only walk I got in was a quick loop around the block (1.26 miles) with the dogs just before dinner. Will try to get out today for a longer walk!!!!
Basement is looking good! We might be almost done after the weekend when Scott will be home to finish up the trim. I will hopefully have all the doors stained by then. Then we get to "move in", trying to empty all the boxes that have been stored in the downstairs bedroom!
Cold here this morning - the bird bath was frozen this morning! Snow is forecast for Saturday!
Have a great day everyone!

I have a few min before I leave from work so I thought I’d pop in. I am in the market for new sneakers and one of our running stores has someone who will fit you. Miranda went there and was very happy with the outcome.
My sneakers are old and I think part of my foot and knee problems may be caused by the worn sole. Again $$ are involved but I’ll have to suck it up and get new ones before I go to Houston at the end of the month so it’s now or never.
Have a good one,I’ve read all your posts about furniture, boo boo parts of the body, 10k’s Brits invading, much pixie dust to all. Lynn, it’s cool here to but I LOVE it. Below 20 I have an issue but I’ll still go out – getting someone else to go with me is another matter.

Morning everyone! I didn't get out for my run last night because of the rain. It wasn't too bad just before I left work but it was a bit heavier once I got home. I stayed in and did the Wii Fit instead. Not quite the same but a lot of fun!
I was looking at my last pair of running shoes and noticed the wear pattern on the bottom is more like that of someone who is an underpronator. The soles have more wear along the outside of the shoe. I was fitted for stability shoes by my running store because they said I was an overpronator. I know my arches are also on the flat side which makes me more typical of an overpronator. My new shoes still don't have a definite wear pattern yet so I can't tell. I wonder if I've been wearing the wrong shoes all along. I think I'll have to go for another fitting :)

Good Morning Team!
Cold and kind of dreary here today, was 32 degrees when I got up, it is up to 35 now! There was ice on the bird bath, but now it is full of Rosie Finches, and the ice that is left does not seem to be bothering them!
I ended up getting in only a short 1.33 mile walk yesterday, I was not motivated to walk, so I did all the chores first. It was dinner time when I went out, and the dogs were in for a short walk (they knew that dinner was waiting for them at home) and I did not push for a longer one. I will have to pull myself out of this funk shortly - but it has just been really hard to get out and exercise lately. I start projects first, and they take me most of the day. It is like coming home from a day of work and not wanting to do anything! It is also rather windy this morning, which means it will feel even colder out there!
I do like the cooler weather, and I will walk outside even in the winter - of course, the dogs need walks no matter what the weather - I will rarely use the treadmill - it is very hard for me.
Todays chore is house cleaning, I have been neglecting it the last few weeks because of painting and staining - so I have to do a really good job today, and that will probably take me all day. I also have to wait for the Dish Network folks today - they are coming sometime between noon and 5pm - but that will fit in fine with house cleaning. House cleaning is a little more active than staining and painting, so I should at least be burning more calories!
Denise - Good luck on the quest for new shoes!
Dave - We have 15 days! (14 if you don't count the day we drive to Denver to fly out the next morning, but Scott usually works that day and we usually leave when he gets home from work - so I count it as a "day until" we leave).
Have a great day everyone!

Lynn are you at the BWVs also? We can do some early morning walks then shower and eat breakfast before the sleep in crowd crawls out of bed. I swear some people act like they are on vacation when they go to Disney.
Denise good luck with the shoe chase. Have you had your gait analized for whether you need a support, cushioned or motion control shoe?
I just saw a commercial about Campbells using lower sodium natural sea salt in their soup? How can sea salt be lower sodium than regular salt? Sounds like someone thinks we are stupid.
I had a nice walk this morning with my thursday walking group. We did 4 miles with several sprints of about a 100m each. It was a fartlak style workout.

I have not. I brought Nick to the good feet store about a year ago he has terribly flat feet and they did wonders for him. I debate about doing that too another expense....
I think that will be my refrain for a while. I keep waiting for the next president, and at this point I don't care who, so long as they can fix this financial mess - to have us all in a more positive mood. I try to hold on to every penny for the harsh winter ahead. :scared1:

Vivky - Here's a visual on the wear patterns:

Dave - Lucky you have some guys to run with. I'm always going solo. Well...besides the WDW Today crew...they podcast along with me out there. And sometime I find myself talking back to them! LOL :hyper2: Oh and my saying is "Wakey, wakey, eggs and bac-y". I got it from an old friend that used to live in my apartment building years ago when I was on my own. He's like 6 foot something and 400 hundred pounds. You wouldn't think that he'd say that...I guess that's what makes it so funny to me.
Margie - It's amazing how a spine adjustment can fix a knee. I've never been to a chiro, but I've always been amazed at what they do.
Jennifer - Have fun at the race!! We will need a full on race report...so as you are flying by everyone like grease lightening make sure to enjoy it and take it all in!!
Denise - We are feeling the money crunch hard as well. Jordan is now forced to get a new car and we don't know how we will manage it. Christmas is gonna suck this year. :sad2:
Lynn - Hope you had fun cleaning. I love days where I'm stuck home and clean house (whether I have no car or I'm waiting for a service person). I get so much more done!! And it feels so good to take a nice warm shower and sit back and relax when it's all over!
Training:
Yesterday I did some .25 straights in my neighborhood. I was going to go to the track at the middle school, but it was locked up. They close it until school, and I guess the public only has access after school hours. So I made do. Ran 12 x 400 and about a 2:00 pace...one mile there and back to warm up and cool down. Was a really nice workout and I felt good (other than the hip). Today is an easy 3-4 miles.
To the rest of the team...hope you guys are staying warm and being healthy!! Get as close to 8 hours as possible...we don't need to get any sick team members from worn down resistance!
Take care!

As for Mark and I we went out on a beautiful Thursday night to do our miles, I was ready for 6 but barely got in 3 when I had to go to the bathroom! It happens every now and then and yes I did "go" before I left the house but we had to cut it short. So for the last 2 miles I was having a real hard time. To think I was going to try another route last night - one we drive to. Thank goodness we didn't do that. Will do our 6 tonight - maybe :rolleyes1
Have a good day everyone, it's a beauty here in NH.

Morning Team, made it home yesterday 11 work days straight, so I am taking a three day weekend, Lynn did a great job on the basment and has the trim ready , might actually finish this weekend, now that is KEWL!!!
Cool morning here 36 with a 12 mph wind, cloudy.
Denise, Good luck with the new shoe quest.
Jen, I believe your race is today, lace um up and burn um up, you will do great.
Yes Dave we are at BWV for this trip and OKW for January. I am looking forward to running the path around the lake and over to MGM.

Good morning team.
Eva, I have some guys to walk with because I have been beating the bushes to find people interested in learning to walk faster and smoother. I had tried having a regular class but this is working out better.
Denise what size shoes do you wear?
Scott we are gonna steal your pretty woman some mornings there so she can walk with us while you run.
Margie yes I'm a believer in ciropractors. I don't have time for a drug and rest program to heal something structural so I use them over a ortho Doctor.
Guys, please don't let the economy steal your joy. I've been around for a long time and I've been poor as a church mouse and I've been comfortable. I have had times where I've had nohing but coffee for a few days when money ran out before payday. I don't like living like that but I know how.
If I had a choice of being well off with no friends or broke and having friends I'll take broke with friends every time. We are looking at ways to cut back on the Disney expense this year and January, so we are going to be doing some picnicing with friends there. There is a market about 5 miles away and we have the car. All of you are welcome to join in the picnicing with us.
A few years ago, actually when I started my second childhood, Erica and I decided to stop giving gifts to each other and take trips instead. For instance we go to Gatlinburg in the off season for about the price of a couple of gifts, that's our anniversary present to each other. January Disney is our Christmas present to each other.
On the bright side, the prices of every thing are dropping. Gas has gone to near $3.00 and may go lower. All the stores are selling everything cheaper, If you walk down the mall, every store has sales going of 40 to 75% off of everything. Things will work out and we will be better off after things are stable again.
I'm rambling I'm sorry, have a wonderful day everyone.
Shutting up now Panda:hippie:

$$, it is a necessary evil but we’ll manage like everyone else.
The other night, after a very stressful 2 days at home I went to quilt bee with my friends. Turns out EVERYONE had the same kind of days. We walked in with our various projects and had a bit of show and tell. Our hostess, Karen has 2 new kittens so they were a ton of fun to watch. We all complained about our days – nothing to specific and then started to laugh, various stories shared. We are a group of quilters who range from late 20’s to late 50’s but with a common thread . The young ones keep us youthful and the older ones remind them that we too have the same experiences.
I sent out an email to all my bee members yesterday morning because it’s always important to acknowledge and thank everyone for their time & friendship. All responded in the same, happy to have found each other. One member said something that really stuck to the core. Yes we all entered Karen’s house and left our troubles at the door. That is so important – for a little while, enjoy each other, laugh till you cry or spit in your drink but it was the best medicine because that night I slept like a baby. A good motto to live by - Leave your troubles at the door!
Here you go - Pick one!

Happy Friday everyone! We're having a nice sunny day in Toronto - the weather is pretty warm too. Just in time for the weekend! I went for a quick 3 mile run yesterday after work. I'm trying to get myself to run continuously for the 5K next weekend. I figure there's no need for a walking break when the distance is so short. Didn't have any foot pain so that made me happy!
Jen - Good luck on your race tomorrow! I know you'll do great!
Dave - I think sea salt and regular salt have different taste. So maybe by substituting sea salt for regular salt, they won't have to use as much of it. Dunno.
Scott - 11 days! Wow! I loved running in the YC/BC/BW area :)
Margie - I've been seeing a chiropractor since the beginning of the year and he's only done an adjustment on my back twice. Most of the time he just works on my knees. No one believes me :)
Eva - Yeah, the wear pattern I have matches an underpronator. The thing is I know my left knee goes in slightly when I run and my arches are flat. So I would think that makes me an overpronator. I asked my PT about it but he says I should run in whatever is comfortable. :confused3 He's not a runner though. I'm tempted to try a neutral shoe but it's an expensive test - I don't want to get stuck with the shoes if they don't work or injure something and spend $$ on rehab. Btw, I noticed the Vivky spelling :rotfl:
Sue - Happy Turkey Day! Lots of people I know are heading up to their cottages to close them up for the year.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Jen, good luck in your race.
Vicky, enjoy your Thanksgiving. Looks like we are in for some nice fall weather.
I'm leaving for the cottage after work for the last weekend of the year & winter close up. Can't find the crying smilie. It's always such a short season. Then winter will be on it's way. Guess I can't be too sad. TOT & The Wonder in 2 weeks.
Have a great weekend, stay healthy & happy training....Sue

Hi Denise, Erica wears a size 9.5 in a sneaker. She experiments a lot with shoes to find something that works for a princesses foot. Right now she likes the Asics Stratus and the Mizuno Wave Rider, I want her to try the Mizuno percision 9 when we are at the Disney Marathon Expo.
I like the running warehouse site for buying shoes becasue they are cheaper and they have good sizing information on each shoe. I often buy a shoe to try and it not work for me at all even though it is rated highly. I wear a size 9.5 mens. What size is Mark?
Has anyone heard how Connie and her hubby are doing? He was supposed to have back surgery, she is just recovering from shoulder surgery.

Busy day here so I woke up Mark at 6:30 to head out for our 5 miles. Just an easy 5 to get the blood going. It's another beautiful day here. Leaves are turning more each day, crisp but sunny. Shower and then off to Runner's alley to get me some new "tires".
Feel great today, we were going to go to dinner last night, but the restaurant was very busy (so much for a bad economy) but this place has a variety of choices from sandwiches to full meals either that or they were drowning their sorrows. But we didn't want to wait an hour so we went to the grocery store, bought some fresh pasta and sauce, turkey meatballs and a bottle of wine. Had a fab meal in no time and it cost a LOT less.
2 weeks till the wedding and then vacation for me! It is time to taper for TOT yet?

Taper for ToT? It's only an 8 miler dear. Besides it's an 8 mile party walk, at least for Erica and I it will be. We are walking with Lynn. You can join us if ya wanna, we will probably go around a 14 min per mile pace. Last year we started in the very back with Anne and walked with her a bit then moved up from WISH group to group till we caught up with Robert, Linda, Kim and Mike and walked the rest of the way in with them. We had a change to visit with a lot of wishers during the race that way.
I just did an hour of pool running today. I always feel so refreshed after that workout.
Margie, nut is good. I have never been acused of being normal myself.

Yes, Eva I am preparing for Detroit - I am resting, Icing, Soaking, Ibuprofening, wearing a lace up brace during the day. The swelling & pain is down. I still have 8 more sleeps - it should be even better. My DD will wrap my ankle (Not taking any chances) and if I have to stop I will. I am going to finish and it has a longer finish time than most so I figure I should be okay even with two weeks of NO walking. I am going to the gym for upper body workouts - did an hour today and it went well. Will try some ABS tomorrow afternoon :goodvibes
pixiedust: Talked to Connie this afternoon - she sounded good :grouphug: Both are recovering from surgery and the long painful 2-hour ride home from the hospital. They were able to get some rest last night. Connie had her first Physical Therapy session yesterday --- kind of painful. Today she was thinking she might be able to do a little on the 'Dreadmill.'
Hope everyone is having a great weekend and enjoying this wonderful fall weather -

Howdy All: Another 5 today in my new sneakers. Ended up with Brooks and so far I love them. They checked my stride etc and I do have an even step, very little wear on my shoes on the side which kind of surprised me. So I got a mid-level shoe. Tried on a bunch but felt the Brooks were perfect for me.
Also bought our orange vest and used them today, after we were done Mark thought he could go supervise some tree cutting and I would head off to direct traffic. We now have the "uniform". :rotfl:
It was 38 when we left this morning and I still worked up quite the sweat. Coffee now and then I hit the ground running for errands today.

Hi Everyone!
No running for me, as the race is tomorrow. I was going to pick up my number, t-shirt, and goody bag today; however, I now have other plans this afternoon, so I'll just have to get them right before the race tomorrow.
So my goals for this race are as follows:
I'd be satisfied with myself as long as I finsih in under 1 hour
My real goal is under 56 minutes (roughly a 9 minute mile pace)
If it was the perfect day I think I could potentially finish around 50 minutes (roughly an 8 minute mile pace).
I'll be sure to report back tomorrow.

Denise - I am partial to the Charlotte door!
Shoes are a difficult subject - I was told I was a slight overpronator, but I know I have a high arch, and a stability shoe was recommended, that would follow the neutral recommendation of RW. I have been happy with the Asics Kayano and the Mizuno Wave Alcomy 8.
Jennifer - hope you have a great race today!
Hope you northern folks had a great Thanksgiving!!!!
Margie - thanks for the update on Connie and Jon!
Did not get much walking in last week, hope to improve on that this week! I want to get out this morning before the wind picks up, it is cold, but it will be worse in the wind! At least the sun is out today. My knees have been terrible, but I think that is partly because I have not been walking. So, starting today, I am going to get back into a program.
It is winter here, dusting of snow on the ground and the high today is supposed to be 40 degrees!
The construction phase on the basement is completed,   , except for a few areas that need touch up paint, and the curtain that I am making that will separate the theatre room from the library area. We can start "moving in" - who knows how long that will take! We did watch a movie on the new TV downstairs last night!
Need to get going on that dog walk! Have a great day everyone!

Thanks everyone for the good luck wishes!
So here's the race report:
It went better than I ever thought it could.
This was my first big race; there were 7000+ runners. I got there early picked up my t-shirt (they were nice new balance long-sleeve technical tees) and my goody bag (which had a card about the Princess 1/2) and wandered the booths.
At 10:45 there was a pre-race warm up which was fun and then at 11:15 they started herding people over to their seeds.
Race kicked off at noon and it was a nice course. Relatively flat; however, you run over the Charles twice and those bridges are tough. My first 3 splits were 7:50; 7:50; 7:55 and my 5k split was a new PR of 24:20. My second half was a little slower, but I was still hitting low 8 splits. According to the clock I finished right at 50 minutes, but I'm not sure what my chip time will be.
50 minutes was my highest goal and I really didn't think I was going to make it and 55 was my realistic goal.
I'm off to recover. I'll post official times and ranking info tomorrow.
Best,
Jennifer

How about a little background on myself? I am originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan but in the summer of 2006 I moved to Orlando, Florida. Earlier this year I moved about 20 miles north to the city of Sanford to be closer to my work as I could not stand the traffic on I4 anymore, it was driving me insane! I am 26 years old and I live with my boyfriend Seth, and my sister Trish. I've been trying a lot but haven't been too successful yet to get my boyfriend to start running with me as he has some extra pounds to lose. He claims I run too fast and too far for him. I told him whatever, I would slow down and go at his pace and walk when he needed to walk and be there for him every step, jog, and sprint of the way. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed to get him going, he just needs a swift kick in the behind!
I work as a police dispatcher for the county I live in. I work 12 hours shifts, 2days on and 2 days off with every other Fri, Sat, and Sun off. I really like my schedule it's nice, although sometimes on my days off it's harder to get up earlier than noon to get stuff done that can only be done during the day. I work the night shift 530pm to 530am so that leaves a lot of boredom time where I get frequent snack attacks!
Forgive me for having a few questions but is there a certain day each week to report my mile and minutes? Today I jogged/walked 2.25 miles with my doggy in 40 minutes.
I look forward to getting to know everyone!! Now I just need to figure out how to put all the neat little things in my signature! :thumbsup2
Have a great day everyone!!

Official time is 50:14 for a pace of 8:05 (ironically that means my 10k pace is faster than my official 5k pace)
I was 533 out 5254 finishers before the cut off (much higher than I anticipated) and I was 190 out of 1249 in my age group (20-29) which is also higher than I thought.

Good Morning everyone!!!
Welcome to the newest member Jen, keep plugging away, my DH Mark is now a team member since he does the same miles as me. He doesn’t like me to walk alone so he makes the effort to do the miles. He also knows it’s good for me and for him health-wise. Your DBF will join you soon enough.
Scott and Lynn, the room looks great and I 2nd that idea on the Margarita, my favorite!
Today we meet at Miranda’s restaurant at noon to finalize the head count for the wedding and get the final payment amount. I got her quilt from the machine quilter yesterday so I have to finish that up – binding and sleeve to hang it at the reception. I also made a bag for the flower girl as all the attendants have one that Miranda made and I didn’t want her to feel left out. We didn’t walk last night, I was beat and I knew I had a lot to get done. This is a very busy week for me at night, lots of appts. so my miles may suffer as I thought they might.
WP, great race!! Your times were super.
Connie, continue to improve, PT really does stink some times but in the end, well worth the effort.
Margie, don’t forget to rest the ankle too!
Dave and Erica, your miles are great and such a lot of time devoted to them. Good alone time. Mark and I usually talk for the first mile then use our ipods to build up speed. Lately with the economy and our lives in 2 different directions, we have left them at home so we can walk and talk. It’s good for both of us.
Eva, hope your computer is better soon. I’d be lost without mine! Well my house would be clean but I’d still be lost.
Take care everyone,
denise

Good morning team! We had a gorgeous weather for our Thanksgiving weekend. I'm not sure how to do the conversion from Celsius to Farenheit but it was about 20C. Nice and sunny with a slight breeze! It was perfect for running which I was able to do on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. I checked the weather forecast today and it looks like it's going to start cooling down again and I don't think it will be nearly as warm for my 5K next Sunday.
:welcome: Crunkyjens! I have been trying to get my DF to run with me as well. He doesn't have as much time but I think part of it for him is the motivation. Regardless, he's still registered for a 5K and the 1/2 in January so it should be interesting :)
Jen - Congrats on your race! That is an awesome time!!
Margie - Glad to hear your ankle/foot are doing better!
Scott - Argh! I can't see your pics at work so I'll have to look at them when I get home.
Dave/Erica - Wow! You're both racking up the miles!
Eva - Boo on the computer crash! I hope you're able to get it fixed soon.
Connie - Glad to see you posting! Will PM my miles to you tonight! I'm hoping to squeeze in one more walk tonight.
Lynn - I picked up a pair of Kayano 14 on the weekend. They were on sale and I have 60 days to return so I figured I'd get them and think about it. I'm going to head to the running store today to see if they have any thoughts on my shoes :)

Treated myself to some post race running shopping.
I went ahead and got new shoes (don't need them for another 2-3 weeks, but I wanted to get fitted properly). So I got Saucony Rides in an 8.5. A change from Adidas Supernovas. I like them although the fitter was concerned they be tight on my high arches, but I like them to feel tighter in the ankle/arch so that I don't feel like I'm gonna twist an ankle.
No running today as it's day zero.
Best,
Jennifer

Good evening,
Well like bunnyfoo told you it was a nice thanksgiving (action de grâce) weekend up here also with beautifull weather, sunny and no wind. For once I wasn't working this week-end but I did overtime on Monday evening (have to pay for the new HD tv). And boy did I pay for it. I don't know if I told you but I work at the border between our two beautiful country and it look like a lot of people from Québec and Ontario decided to spend a last long week-end on the east coast or in Mount Washington and yhey all came back between 15:00 and 21:00 hours.
Jen- WOW great time.
Welcome to the new members.

Hi guys.
Erica and I drove up to Mammouth Cave National Park, about 30 min from us, and did some hiking on the moutain trails. That was a fun change of pace and a good workout to. On the way home we put the top down on the stang and enjoyed the wind in our hair.
Have a restful evening y'all.

Ok where is everyone??? Wake up guys, it's a wonderful day out there, time to get up eat a healthy breakfast and go outside to play.
I'm off to the gym to get ready for my little race on saturday. I might even run a little today on the treadmill to cross train since running hits the quads different from walking.
Have an awesome day y'all.

Good Morning Team!
I have not been on computer for a few days, trying to catch up. I have been getting out again for walks - did 6 miles Monday, 4 miles on Tues, along with a "circuit" of 10 squats-10 push ups (girls style of course) and 10 sit ups (Pilates style) three times. Today I will go out for another 6 miles as long as my knees hold out. I do have an appt with orthopod for after we get back from TOT.
Jennifer - congrats on the race - great job!
Jen - I was a police dispatcher for 25 years - the last 5 years were nearly all graveyards, as it was the only shift I could bid for and have weekends off. We worked 4-10 hr shifts, 3 days off, but often worked OT, so it was more like 5-10hr shifts! I am now retired and loving it!!!!!
Dave - yes, will be looking forward to early morning walks, how long are you staying after the race? We get there the day before - Friday, so won't get too many walks in before the race!
Better get going to get that walk in! Have a great day everyone!

I'm home  today. I'm starting to get a sore throat and have a horrible headache. I think I caught from the new girl - who's still sick and has been sick for the past 2 weeks now :headache: I'm just going to try and get better for my race on Sunday.
Scott - The basement is gorgeous! I love the bar and the popcorn machine is such a cute touch!
Dave - I Googled Mammoth Caves! Looks really cool! Do the leaves change colours where you are?
Lynn - Sounds like a nice group of exercises to build up your core muscles!
Take care everyone! :wave2:

My brain said get up this morning but my heart said NO, it’s cozy and warm and dark at 4:45 so I stayed in bed. I knew Miranda was working the day shift and would probably want to walk tonight so I decided to wait for her – that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Scott and Lynn, I too love the popcorn machine, I actually had a small bowl of popcorn a few minutes ago. Someone made the microwave stuff and the smell was too much, I had to have some.
Bunnyfoo – I’m sorry your sick, don’t people know to stay home when their sick? Went to get rid of the gray hair last night and my hairdresser was coughing and sneezing, GREAT, just what I need. I hope I don’t catch it, will take Vitamin C to ward off any ailments.
All of you traveling in the next couple of months for the TOT and then for Marathon weekend, don’t forget 2 pops of Afrin nasal spray in your nose ½ an hour before your flight to avoid catching a cold. Don’t eat on the flight if you can help it. Since I started doing this I have been much better both on the vacation and after.
Will post my miles later tonight.

My foot is a little better every day - DD measured and the ankle part is only and inch bigger now on the left foot, the top of my foot is black & blue, ankle itself still has a stinging sensation.
Connie I PM'd our time...Did get to the gym this week - have to wait to go tomorrow until Hagen is picked up.

Yes Bunny our leaves change, in fact the trails were covered with a blanket of multi colored leaves. Sometimes I had to scout around a little to find the trails.
Denise that was a good reason, waiting to walk with Miranda later in the day.
We drive down to Disney and Erica is covered in a blanket with just her nose sticking out and snoozing away as we drive.
Margie ism your foot not doing better? I thought it was doing good.

Good Morning Everyone!
Did our miles last night (5) and boy it sure went fast. A most beautiful sunset too. Blue sky, pink/orange clouds, crisp air - it felt good to be out.
Had home made chicken pot pie and a shower after. Watched the finale of Project Runway because I knew that debate highlights would be on the TV all morning today and I was right.:dance3:
Much to do again today and then I have Massage tonight, it's been a couple of months because she had the bebe. Can't wait. She'll kill me but in the end, a couple of days from now, it'll be all worth it.
Friday we start to get the pit(house) ready for the big day and Saturday night we have rehearsal and dinner. Sunday more prep for the wedding and in between we have to do miles for our health, both mental and physical.
Family arrives on Thursday from TX so that will be fun. All they want is clams and lobster so we may have to go to the coast! Such a hardship.
Take care, make the most of your day - what kind of mischief can we cause? Ohhhhhhhhhhh I'm in a feisty mood - Look out

Good morning everyone! I'm feeling much better today - my headache is gone, same with my sore throat. I still have the sniffles but I hope they'll be gone by the weekend! Thanks so much for the PD and the get well wishes! They really worked :)
Dave - I wasn't sure if the leaves changed colours where you are since you're further south than we are. Do you get snow? Erica sounds like me when I take a road trip - except my head seems to flop side to side and all over the place :rotfl:
Denise - How do nasal sprays work? I've heard a lot about them recently but I don't know anyone who's actually used one. Does the bottle spray water into one side of your nose? Where does it come out  And does it make a big mess?
Margie - :wizard: for your foot! I'm glad to hear it's getting better!
Connie - How are you and Jon doing?
Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning Team!
Vicki - you are describing a nasal rinse, sprays do not add enough moisture to drip back out (usually). I use a nasal rinse on a regular basis because it is so dry here. Glad that you are feeling better!
Denise - do you not eat any food on the plane, or just not eat what the airline might provide? We usually bring our own food, since the airline does not feed you anymore.
Connie - I will get totals posted to you as soon as I send this message - I promise!
It is warmer here today, the last few days have been beautiful but cool. I think I will start moving stuff (books and DVD's) into the basement.
Have a great day!

Sara will wrap my ankle-in this situation is it bad to take ibuprofen before a race?
Plan to get in an upper body workout at the gym tonight.

Well I mostly go to WDW or TX or PA on airplane rides which are 3 hours and under and I eat before I board the plane. I don’t want to put anything in my mouth while on the plane. I buy a bottle of water, after I pass security and drink that. My hands have touched the table, the seat back and some times the bathroom and their washing system in the bathroon doesn’t build a whole lot of confidence.. Generally, when I can’t eat that early (6:30) flight, I buy something in a wrapper and keep my fingers on the wrapper while I eat. If you only knew how many times I was sick the whole week of vacation and/or when I got back home – these small preventive measures have really made a difference.
I use the Afrin nasal spray not the rinse.. yuck. It can be habit forming but I only use it when I fly not any other time.
Haven’t been too naughty today as I had anticipated. I did have a moment today, somehow I got ink on my shirt where the “girls”are. I felt like that commercial where the stain talks to everyone over your own voice. I couldn’t stand it so at lunch I went and bought another shirt. Thank goodness Marshalls is on the way to where I can pick up lunch.

Dave, I love Mamoth Cave. When I was a kid we used to take "outdoor education" field trips to there. I wanted to be park ranger there when I wass 2nd grade.
As for me, I went for my first post-race run today. I did 3.25 miles at an 8:20 pace. And it felt comfortable. I have a 5k in 10 days so we'll have to see if I can up my 10k pace at that.

Might work on packing up for the trip next week, need to do a walk with Lynn and a really good long run on Sat, mow the lawn, fertilze for winter, set up gun safe, move stuff tpo the basement, change the oil adn fuel filter in the truck, will the list never end,

Good Morning Team!
As Scott posted, we are doing our exercise later when he gets home tonight! It should be a nice day. The dogs and I took it easy yesterday with just a 1.27 mile walk, of course, I got to do a few stair climbs - hauling DVD's to the basement, and doing laundry (washer and dryer in the basement). The weekend projects are mowing the lawn (for the last time this season maybe? We have turned off the sprinklers, so it is not getting any more water.), and "moving in" to the basement! Looks like Scott has a few others on the list.
Eva - good luck on the new car!
Denise - When we eat on the plane, it is usually a sandwich that is wrapped and we eat from the wrapper. But neither of us have too much trouble getting sick on the vacation, but sometimes when we get home. I always take an empty water bottle thru security and fill it up from a water fountain on the other side of security. I do not think the airlines provide enough water on the plane!
Have a great day everyone!

That was an expensive lunch. Went to Target and bought one of those EPC’s, a fab purple mouse and purple bag to hold it. We have been wanting a simple laptop to surf the net, email etc and this is perfect. I had no idea they existed. Had to take Nick for pants for the wedding and told him about it. Off we went, he’s got it at the house now, getting it set up and charging for me.
I can’t wait for this day to be over so I can play with it a bit. Darn I still have to clean the house but boy it will make life easier while on vacation, I’ll even be able to post my miles from Houston.
Thanks again!

Good evening, or rather good morning everyone!
I'm just passing time at work till 530am comes and I can go home and sleep! I don't think I'll ever get used to going to bed when people are getting up for the day.
I've been reading through this whole thread trying to get to know all of my teammates a little bit!
Scott and Lynn I've come to the conclusion you two are together? DH & DW or DBF and DGF?
Scott - The basement looks great and I LOVE the popcorn machine! That is like my ultimate weakness...if I had one of those there would be popcorn popping every night!
Lynn - Wow 25 years?! I can't imagine staying in one place that long, but good for you and enjoying retired life! I'm jealous! We work 12 hours shifts so we are 2 on, 2 off, and every other 3 day weekend. I have one year left in my contract for the Communications Center and then I can move around to another position in the agency. My ultimate goal is Forensics! :thumbsup2
Connie - I believe this is going to be my 10th post so I can finally PM you my miles and minutes! Although after reading what everyone is doing everyday I don't know how much I'm going to add to our team's total! All you crazy kids doing 8-10 miles a day! I hope to get there soon but I'm not there yet!
Oh and yes I will be doing the TOT run next Saturday! I have a question for all your veterans of races. This going to be my very first race EVER so I'm not quite sure what to eat or drink the day of. I don't want to eat too much and not be able to run, or eat too little and barely have any energy...or even what times to space the food out. Can anyone give me some tips?!
I took a rest day today because on Wed when I was running I actually managed to get my DBF out with me and we sprinted like the last 50 yards or so to see who could get there first and I think I twisted something in my knee.
Alright I'm off to go pm you Connie, I hope everyone has a great night, and day! Happy Saturday everyone!

Good morning team.
Jen I'm a racewalker, so I don't run at all. What is your average pace when you run? There a lot of runners, walkers and run/walkers at all the paces so you would have plenty of us to be with at the race.
There is a group of us that hang out over on the DisneyRunning.com Forum also.
I have a little 3K race this morning, the Halloween Hustle. I has a lot of racewalking talent show up so the competition will be stiff and the course has a killer hill, twice. They only have awards for the top 3 finishers so I have to hump it if I want hardware.
We arrive at Disney on monday afternoon and will be there till the 29th.
If you want our cell #s so we can meet up send me a PM.

Good morning everyone! Just got back from my 5K! It was super chilly this morning - 2C or 35F. DF and I jogged over to the start just to keep warm. The course looped through downtown Toronto. It felt really short because it seemed like it was over before I started. Not sure exactly what time I finished because I didn't look at the time when I started and I forgot to stop my Garmin afterward. But I'm thinking maybe 33 minutes.
Dave - Congrats on your trophy!

Hi Everyone
Not much walking this week as we had rehearsal at the lake last night. It was Freezing! Miranda has a straples0s wedding dress. I'm in the process of lining her shawl with fleece and flannel so she can wrap herself with it.
Today I cleaned the pantry, trying to spruce up the place as guests will arrive on Thursday.
I had a headache today so we went for a walk. Only 4 miles but it did help me a bit.
I have a lot to do this week so my miles will suffer. At least Dave and Erica, Scott and Lynn will have race miles to donate to the team.
Hope all the TOT travelers arrive safe. Miranda said she'll do miles in the morning during next week around the boardwalk so you may see her. Dave you've seen her so she may stop you one morning if your out at the same time.
She has a packed week in WDW, I'm sure they'll have a good time.
Well off to make a sandwich and continue the cleaning.

Just doing a quick drive-by this morning! The race times from the 5K yesterday were posted and my time was 33:02! Funny thing was before the race, I asked DF what time he was hoping for and he said he wanted to finish 5 minutes behind me. We looked up his time and it was 38:02 ... I thought it was funny how it was so exact :)
Dave/Erica - Safe travels! Say hi to Mickey for me!
Denise - The weather has started to cool down here too. Sounds like you have a busy week ahead of you. The shawl sounds like it will be nice and warm.
Jen - Good luck with your mid-terms!!
Scott - I wish I lived close enough to drive to WDW too. I think DF and I might try for a road trip in March. I've heard the drive from Toronto is about 24 hours non-stop but we'd probably take our time and do it in 2 days.

I will suffer major side stitches if I have too much food still in the system. Cut my water off around 8 or I will spend all night in the portapotty lineup. I know tmi. Sorry! See how I feel around 9:30 if I need any shotbloks to carry me through.
2 more sleeps. :woohoo: Safe travels to all the fellow tot'ers.....Sue

I DID IT ... I Finally Completed The Detroit Free Press Half Marathon Sunday. I Crossed the Finish line in 3:15, limping, & Happy with a 14:58 average pace. Will try to write a report later. Yesterday my Chiropractor told me to NOT walk - no impact- until more of the swelling has gone down in my ankle or I would have chronic problems with that foot...so I will not be walking this week. He said the RIGHT words to make me behave! :rolleyes1
Will try to catch up on the post when I get back but I need to get out the door to the gym for a short workout. :goodvibes

Sue, that's a great plan! I didn't have any trouble, because I didn't eat late that night. I try to stay AWAY from porta potties! Congrats! on the great runs!
Jen, you will do just great on mid-terms. I always found mid-terms to be very helpful ...made it easier at finals!

Hi everyone! I had my weekly workout with my PT yesterday. We started out saying that I wasn't going to work too hard because of my foot and I'm still recovering from a cold but as we went along, the workout seemed to get harder and harder. Or maybe it was just my imagination :) He had me do a variation on the plank where I would start on my forearm and then get into a pushup position and then back down on my forearm. I was only able to manage about 3 of those in a row! Super tough!
Sue - We were thinking of driving to WDW so that we could visit a friend in DC on the way back. I'm really wanting to do the Princess 1/2 in March but am starting to back off from the idea a little because of the US$ exchange.
Margie - Congrats on your 1/2! Take care of your foot :) Have you tried an ice bath for it? My PT recommended I do one after running. It helps but ... it's soooo chilly!!
Connie - How's the PT going? *lol* at your comment about those of us left behind. I guess it's going to be quiet here.
Lynn - Snow! Yikes! You must be glad to be leaving for WDW!
Safe travels and good luck to everyone heading to ToT! Can't wait to hear all about the race when you're back!!

Hi Everyone
Wow lots going on here on our team. I have a bit of hand sewing to do on Miranda’s shawl for the wedding. She stopped by at 6:30 this morning and approved it so that was a relief. We have Thursday & Friday off so will finish up our chores then. I plan on doing a lot tonight so I can be with my quilt friends tomorrow night. We need a night to relax.
Miranda and I are planning a walk on Thursday and maybe Friday so my miles – as I had thought, will be weak this week.
Well I am at work so I’ll sign off, have to clear the decks here too!

Hello team!!!
Oh my..it seems as if I'm too far behind to catch up with everything!! The TOT'rs are getting ready to run and our speedy Jennifer is racing this weekend as well.
Margie - Way to go on the half!! Now rest and heal like your doc said. We need you to be ready to go come Jan!!!
Dave - A trophy?! Good for you!!! I keep telling my dad to read your blog...you are such an inspiration!
Vivky - I HATE PLANKS!! I've been trying to do more floor work as well to work on my core. Just not enough time in the day though!
Scott and Lynn - Is it really calling for snow there?! Hope you feel better Scott!
To anyone I've missed - I'll catch up soon I promise!! Hope everyong is doing well! Stay strong...it's the best time of year for hitting the streets!
As for me...I got the car. A 2004 Mazda Tribute!! It's super cute and has plenty of room for my pupparoonies!
I'm also looking for new "hooves" as my Kayano's are already making my knees and ankles hurt. I looked into the miles and I think I have over 300 on them now. Time to move them to my midweek rotation and get a new pair for my LRs. I'm thinking Saucony Hurricanes or Brook's Adrenaline GTS. Anyone have any luck with those?!
Work has been as stressful as ever. Lots of big events coming in the next 2 months. Speaking of which my boss is calling...gotta go!

I feel great so I'll just turn in a bit early and be ready to get some steps in around the lake and up to Disney Studios and back in the morning.
We had an awesome late lunch at the German Buffet today, we had Mike and Kim, Liz and Patrick, Robert and Liz and of course Erica and I. We all ate to much, but it was yummmy.

Yes, Vicky I did a cold shower, washed my hair, then soak a bit in a cold bath after the Half but did not have the ice. It always helps. My ankle was all ready injured and still swollen. My DD gently taped it before the race and I took Tylenol before and again at mile 7.
I think the swelling is down more and if I don't move no pain at all :lmao: - maybe that's because the shins are a big pain today!
Did a upper body workout at the gym yesterday and 4 miles on the bike - and everything was okay. :goodvibes

Miranda and I are planning on 5or6 miles tomorrow morning – good thing cause it’ll be a weekend of “bad” food. A bite here and there but still not great for the waistline.

Good Morning Team!
Scott - your IPOD is on the charger:lmao:
Cold and windy here today - temp 30 degrees, wind chill 3 degrees! I will get the dogs out for a walk, but it will probably be a short one! At least the sun is out most of the time! We did not get any snow, but I think the mountains did.
We are nearly ready to go, still have a few things to pack, a house to clean, trees to water, laundry to do - the "moving in" project will be on hold until we get back, I think.
Still dealing with sore knees, although they do not bother me too much when walking, just all the rest of the time - and lately my hip has started to hurt - that does hurt more when walking! I do not know what precipitated it - no fall or injury - just hurts. I feel really old :rotfl:
Time to go - have a great day everyone!

Good Morning Team!
Pretty slow here today! Guess everyone is too busy at WDW to post!
Thanks Denise - I was thinking about shoes, so I calculated my milage, I am wearing 2 different pair of shoes, each have just over 100 miles on them, so they should not be breaking down yet. I may try the lunges, see if my knees accept them. I would love a massage, maybe after the race, I can talk Scott into a massage for his birthday - then I will have to get one also, of course!
Connie - will be posting totals here as soon as I finish this post!
Yesterday was REALLY COLD! The wind was fierce and I have forgotten how to walk in the wind, I kept losing my balance! Today should be a little better, hope to get a good walk in with the dogs before I take them to "puppy camp" ie the kennel. I am just waiting for it to warm up a little bit before going out!
Have a great week! I will catch up when I get back from WDW.

Good morning team! It seems pretty quiet here now that everyone has gone to ToT. I went out for a quick 3 miler last night. It was chilly, something I have to start getting use to. I managed to run the whole way without stopping - not sure if it was because it was cold or if I've actually worked up to it but I was happy. I finished in 31:30!
I'm hoping to run continuously in January but I'm not sure if that will mean a faster time since there were two sets of pace bunnies at the 1/2 in September for each time (ie. 2:30 continuous and 2:30 walk/run).
Denise - I agree with you about the massages - except I think they're good for everything! I'll use any excuse to go for one :) How's the wedding stuff coming along? Is it this weekend?
Lynn - Do you have someone in your area that practices A.R.T. (active release therapy)? I've found that it works wonders for my knee/hip pain. My PT also suggests I use a foam roller but I don't like it that much. When I can't get into see my chiro or PT for ART, I use the stick, a knee brace and ice.
Eva - Congrats on the new car! I never have enough time in the day either but I have to practice that stupid plank/pushup. My PT says he eventually wants me to get through 15 on each side. As for shoes ... I recently picked up the Kayanos 14. I haven't tried them out on the TM yet. I'll let you know what I think - but I've been thinking about trying out another type of shoe as well.

Happy Friday everyone! I'm wishing I was in WDW with everyone else doing the ToT this weekend. It's really chilly this morning! I realized last night that we're 12 weeks to the 1/2 in January. Yikes! That puts me one week behind my training schedule. But in looking at my schedule I realized that I have a bunch of 10+ milers every weekend in December. Here's hoping it doesn't snow until January because as much as I hate the cold weather, I hate the TM even more :)
Connie - It probably won't help much but I'm sure the 4 weeks will fly by. When I injured my hip/butt back in March, my PT gave me a list of rehab exercises to do - hourly! I thought that was crazy but I did them anyway (managed to sneak them in at work). Anyway, fast forward 5 weeks later and he had me back up and running for the Minnie 15K. So the exercises do work :)
Denise - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and Miranda and Sunday will be sunny!

Hi Everyone:
I can see by Scott's post that everything went well in Fl. Mark and I made it to bed around midnight and thought of all of you.
It was a busy day but in all worked out. The threat of rain forced us to make some changes but in the end it was better and less rushed.
The kids had hair(hers done and his shaved) and dressed and met the photographer at the lake early in the afternoon before the rains came in. Then we split, went home to have lunch and refresh then to the event center for the ceremony. All went well and Miranda and Matt are now married. They should be landing in Orlando as I write this.
We have trick or treat here today from 1-4 so I have to answer the door and give out candy. Will post more pictures and a link later but hopefully this picture will come out on my post.
Have a good day all. Mark and I are actually thinking of some miles tonight to make up for all the food we've enjoyed the past few days.

My 5k this morning went well. I did it in 23:58 and I didn't even really feel that prepared for it. I placed third in my age group (which was 19-29, and I'm only 21 so at the low end) and 30th overall. Average pace was 7:43. I have almost 2 full months before my next race and I'd love to get the pace down to a 7:30 for a low 23 by then!

Good morning team! Went out running a couple of times on the weekend, despite the weather. The forecast called for showers but I was lucky enough to miss the rain on both Saturday and Sunday. Not sure how I'd feel about running when I'm cold and wet. Next weekend, my long run is suppose to be 6 miles so I'm toying with the idea of entering a 10K. Runners get a cute medal with a squirrel on it. Problem is, the race is about an hour away from me so I'd probably end up spending around $75 to go (race fees + gas) so I'm still undecided.
Scott - Congrats!! Does this mean you get a prize?
Jen - Awesome! Sub-24 :)
Connie - WTG on the 2 miles! Psst... it's better than I've done lately...

Hey everyone! Gosh it's been quite a while since I posted, not very nice of the newbie trying to get to know everyone huh?
I ended up coming down with a cold a couple days before the TOT so I was at home fighting the majority of it so I ended up running the race with just a few sniffles! It was my first race ever and I was pretty darn proud of myself! I managed to finish right under my goal time of 1hr 45min with a time of 1hr 44min! :thumbsup2 I checked the results and I came in like 2000 something, I honestly don't remember 2000 people passing me!

Hi guys, every time I try to do a long post the Boardwalk internet knocks me off line, I guess I talk to much.
I had the pleasure of doing the ToT with LynnG. Erica walked with Tiger Lily and had a super race. This was a good warm up for the January events.
Denise, Miranda is a pretty young lady and the scrapbook of pics was precious.
Connie and Margie feel better.
Jen, sorry I didn't get to meet you, did you get to meet any of the group?
Off to bed, have a restful evening y'all.

Good morning everyone! Went to see my PT yesterday about my "pain in the butt" (literally) and he said that I've strained my piriformis muscle on my right side. Lucky for me it hasn't affected the sciatic nerve. He gave me a couple of stretches and says I'm still good to run - yay! I joked that he must have given me every rehab exercise in the book by now :)
Scott - Happy birthday! Even the Wyoming division is small, I still think it's pretty awesome that you came in first! Have fun at HS!!
Dave - Any pics from any of the WISH ToT meets?
Connie - Yes ma'am! I will be out running after work. So I'll send you a PM with my hours either tonight or tomorrow! I plan to stick to my training schedule this time so I'll definitely be pulling in more miles.
Crunkyjens - Congrats on your ToT finish!!
Margie - I'm already thinking about Jan 2010! DF thinks that's funny but I always have fun planning for Disney.
Take care and have a great day everyone! Can't wait to see some ToT pics :)

Oh wait... It's the end of the month so we don't have to submit our hours until Friday right? (I can't believe it's the end of October already... where did the month go??)

Hi again!
I haven't been out running since the race, but I did do strength training yesterday.
Today, I went to get my hair and nails done.
Also, no running tomorrow probably. Tomorrow's my big final Teach for America interview, so send the good vibes, prayers, and pixie dust this way.
I'll be back on the wagon come Thursday, don't worry. I'm starting to day dream about 23 minute races.
Best,
Jennifer

:wave2: TEAM!
pixiedust: Connie
:hippie: & Erica - Scott & Lynn - Jen - :cheer2: :cheer2:
pixiedust: Vicky - Ouch to the strained my piriformis muscle on my right side. Yes, Connie is all ready working on our Goofy 2010 training schedule! I am excited - but to be totally honest I am not looking forward to the 15-20 miles training walks by myself. :upsidedow
Jen- You Got It! Tomorrow's my big final Teach for America interview, so send the good vibes, prayers, and pixie dust this way.
Went to the gym this morning to use the bike due to time crunch - then back tonight to do an upper body workout. I still am not walking, but if all is better in the morning I will try a couple of miles on the Dreadmill before the little guys get here. Still cautious about getting outside to bike or walk - as I do have some swelling. Pain not so much now :goodvibes

:thumbsup2 to everyone who adv congrats!
I am thinking I am going to sign up for the Princess Half Marathon in March however I am scheduled to work that entire weekend so hopefully I can be the first to snag the PTO for it. Anyone else doing the Princess run?
Connie I had no idea I got double miles for races?! That's awesome!
It's getting chilly here in Florida the past few days, at least for me! It was cool enough today that I shut off my air conditioning and opened up my windows and let the fresh, cool air come in. I love this time of the year because my electric bill takes a nice steady drop.
I'm still a little sore from TOT. To all you regular racers is it common to be sore still 3-4 days later? I took another nice slow walk with my dog today, I'm hoping tomorrow to start running again.
I hope all of you have a great night!!

Oh and Scott I'm sorry I did not get a chance to meet up with any of you! I did see some people with WISH tshirts on along with some disneyrunning tshirts but I didn't know who was who and didn't want to look like a dingleberry asking people if they were on the Hakuna Matata team, lol :confused3

Jennifer, we wish the best for your interview.
Jenn, yes it is cold here in FL, it was warmer in Wyoming yesterday and I be it will be the same today. I hope the cold keeps the crowds down, we will see. We are off to get some fast rides in this morn amd not sure after that.
Soreness- I think it s different for each person, I found I used to get sore a day or so after an event. Now I rarely get sore, I think it is a matter of getting the muscles used to the effort. I would think massage, and stretching would help. There are those that believe in Ice Baths, and I will give them a try this January.
Taking te day off today so just running around the parks today.

So I went out running last night and it was really blustery! I was lazy and ran at the track. In retrospect, it probably wasn't the greatest idea since it's fairly quiet around there. But when I'm over at DF's house, it's hard to find a route that doesn't have a ton of hills or crosses major interesections. I mean to do 30 mins on the TM this morning but I slept in. So I'll double up tomorrow - run in the morning and when I come back from work.
Jen - Good luck with your interview! Let us know how it goes.
Margie - How are you feeling today? Did you make it onto the TM? I agree that the long runs/walk get lonely.
Crunkyjens - I was thinking about the Princess 1/2 but the Canadian dollar has been in the crapper last month. I'll have to wait and see what happens. As for the soreness, when I ran my first race back in May, my chiro recommended I sit in the hot tub afterwards. I did and didn't have any soreness afterwards. After the 1/2 in September, I didn't do much except stretch and was sore the day of but nothing much the day after. I had some foot pain but that was about it.
Make it a great day everyone!!

Thanks for the good luck wishes. I think the interview went well. Most people said I had the best lessons, so that made me feel good. You guys know by now from reading my post that I'm rather harsh on myself, but I felt okay about it. There was only one moment where I felt like I would truly change what I did.
It's cold and windy uphear, but I'm going running tomorrow afternoon no matter what. My legs are getting all twitchy for it.
Best,
Jennifer

Hi guys, it's been awhile.
We are back from the house of mouse, it was a good time as always and we got to meet some interesting people we hadn't met before. I had the pleasure of doing the ToT with Lynn since Scott ran with Princess Runner and Erica walked with Tiger Lily.
We have been doing wash and house work all day. Erica sneaked in a new yellow lab puppy while we were away. Grrrrrr.
How is everyone?

Hey guys!! Just a drive by since I have 15 minutes left of the work day.
Update: The new car is awesome! Puppy is sick with a pH problem that is causing her to have pee problems. Jordan and I have been super busy with work. Having the family over tomorrow after work for Halloween. Pizza and pumkin seeds!! Still waiting for mt WISH shirt..anyone know what's up with those?!
Training: Ran 14 miles on Sunday in the cold 40 mph gusts of wind. It truly was miserable. Need new shoes as I had terrible knee, ankle and foot pain. I ran 16 X 400 today before work. Fastest was 2:01 slowest was 2:12...not great, but getting better.
Jennifer - You are FAST! Congrats on the great race time!!
Scott - WTG for the #1 spot in WY!!
Jen - Nice to "meet" you...will you be joining us for the marathon??
Margie - How is that swelling and pain?! Take care of yourself!!
Denise - Loved the slide show and the "kiss" pic!! Looks like you guys had a blast!! Tell Miranda and her hubby I said congrats!!
Erica - Congrats on the new puppy!!
Dave - Be nice to the new puppy!!
Wish I could chat more, but I still have to lock up the office for the night. I miss getting in here! Hope our PC bugs are fixed soon!!

Yes Eva I'm nice to the darn puppy.:)
Our vacation sure went fast. It's hard to believe that 10 days can be as fast as a weekend. I would say it's good to be home but I miss our friends already. It is comfortable here but it's so very alive and charged there.
We have managed to get all the chores done. That was a bit of a stressor but very relaxing to have it all done.
Now it's time to make a blog entry and chach up with friends that didn't go on this trip.
Have a restful evening y'all.
