I am also on that cruise, I can't find a thread for it, shall we start one?

Let's start one! I'll be on the cruise also! I live in Central New Jersey, and my family is crazy and is driving from NJ to FL, but split into 2 days. We'll be staying at Caribbean Beach. This will be our second cruise on the Wonder and our 7th overall. We already have almost our whole trip planned out, with only a little less than a year to go... We really don't want to wait any longer and are very excited to be back on the Wonder!!!

Cool, it sounds like we are on our way!
We are coming over from the UK, staying at the Boardwalk with a cruise in the middle. This is our first cruise so we don't know anything yet! But it is our 7th trip to WDW, so I am an old hand at that side of things. :)

We are staying at the port of orleans french quarter, this will be our first cruise and have no idea what to expect. chaley

It's our first cruise too, I have been trying to read everything I can get my hands on to find out more about what we can do and where we can go. I want to do it all! Not sure if that will be possible in 3 short days.

Oh man, first cruise on the Wonder, good choice! Cruises are the best, and it's impossible to just go on just one in your life. Once you go on one, you get hooked!:goodvibes

How are your plans coming along? I am starting to think about excurions in Nassau. I can't decide if we should do the Dolphin Encounter, go to the beach, or check out the town of Nassau itself. I am kind of leaning towards the Dolphins as we will have a beach day at Castaway Cay, and I'm not a huge beachy person, but I would like to see a little bit of Nassau as well as the Dolphins. I'd hate ot travel all that way and then feel like i had missed the town iyswim.
Nikki x3 Jeter
10-09-2008, 05:38 PM
I think we might do the dolphin excursion in Nassau as well. We've been on the Wonder before, and it was scheduled to be the same itinerary as this upcoming cruise, although due to a hurricane, we went to Cozumel instead. We're exciting to finally be able to go to Castaway Cay & Nassau...hopefully this time.
BevS97

I quite fancy Conzumel, but I won't wish for a Hurricane to make it happen!!!

just wondering if anyone else is cruising with us, it looks like the ship is going to be half empty at this rate!
I was really hoping we could get a good chat going and participate in all the swaps etc that I have read about on other threads

I'm sure that not everyone books this far in advanced. I know we had this cruise booked in the beginning of August which is over a year before the cruise. Maybe not everyone books so far in advanced, although we're driving and have ALL of our stops completely planned out already.

Hi! Room for one more? I'll be on that cruise too! I'm so excited. I went to WDW several times as a kid, but this is my first time since being married. I can't wait to see my DD's face when we go. This will also be my first WD cruise. :cheer2: I've been reading the boards for a while, but this is my first post. I was surprised that there was already a board for our cruise. Anyway, looking forward to getting to know everyone and learning the ropes. (I finally figured out what a fish extender is!)

We're in the same boat as you :rotfl: No pun intended. We're also at Port Orleans French quarter and taking our first Disney cruise. There's tons of info on here about the cruise. I've been learning all sorts of things. Maybe we can help each other along. Or maybe the vets on here can give us some hints.

Count my family of 4 in, me, DH, DS14 & DD10. We are headed to the World on August 15th - staying at Saratoga Springs on Developer points we got this past summer and then on the 27th jumping on the Wonder to rest before school starts! Can't wait to see Castaway Cay again and enjoy the beaches there. This will be our 4th Disney Cruise. We have done the 7 day Eastern, the 7 day Western and the 15 day Eastern Repo cruise onboard the Magic. This will be our first time on the Wonder. Should be a great time! We did something a bit different this time and we hope we don't regret it. In the past we have always gotten a balcony room but since this is just a 3 day cruise we booked a guarantee cat 12 so we will see what we end up with. We figured it would save some $$ and since we will spend most of the day on deck or on the beach, there was really no need for a balcony. See you in August!!

We just got back from the 4 day Wonder on February 7th. :boat: We received a bounceback incentive to book a 3 night cruise for $99 pp. I don't want to miss that opportunity so we are going to book this cruise. Unfortunately, I can't use the certificate until April 6th. I can't wait.:woohoo:
I am going to surprise my husband and kids. It is our 15th wedding anniversary in November. I would have loved to go then, but I don't want to pull DD out of middle school for too many days. I hear its very difficult once you hit those grades. We will already be taking her out for a week in february for our annual WDW trip. That is enough. So we will just celebrate a little early in September and have a great weekend before the school year starts.:teacher:
I am nervous about the 3 night like some of you. Especially since we just did the 4 night and did have time to do as much as we wanted. :confused3 But now maybe we can skip some things this time to do other things we missed. So that will be great.:yay:
The last cruise we just came home from was my one and only disney cruise. The only other cruise I was on was a Carnival from 15 years ago. I don't remember anything from that one, except being seasick. :crazy2:
I will give you any information I learned from that cruise and my other fellow cruise mates. I learned so much from them on the disboard cruise meet chat before we even left. Then as we get closer, I'm sure more will join and hopefully some more experienced cruisers.
One tip I would give right now is to always have a notebook handy. I thought I would remember all they told me or that I could just "look back" at the posts. Our thread is currently 58 pages. I took forever to try to find something that I forgot. Sometimes I just gave up.
Good Luck with everything and I can't wait to chat some more. :chat:

We just got back yesterday from a 4 day on the Wonder and also got the $99 pp offer and we really can't pass that up! DH and I went on this cruise alone for our anniversary and had a great time and now we are going to take the kids - my son's 15th birthday is August 28 so this will be a great present!

My family and I are taking the 3 night cruise. I was hoping to get to know some people before our trip. We will be spending 4 days at WDW before the cruise and 1 day when we return.
I have been planning this trip for over a year now and can't wait for it to get here.
This is my families first time to WDW and on a Cruise - I am hoping they will enjoy it. pirate:

Nice to meet you! I'm going with my family to Disneyland in California then flying by myself to meet a friend and will be jumping aboard the Disney Cruise Line, then off to Walt Disney World! I'm fortunate enough to do 3 in 1 . (A year worth of savings and two part-time jobs makes this happen lol).
I can assure you that they will enjoy WDW & Cruise. There's so much to do. :thumbsup2

That sounds like soooo much fun, we go to Disneyland at least 2 times a year if not more (annual passholders & DVC members) my first trip to WDW after only gong to Disneyland was so much fun, we were guilty of comparing the two parks most of the time tho. With you going to each park so close together you will really get a feel of the similaraties and differences.

04-01-2009, 12:37 PM
They're both unique. You can't go to the Magic Kingdom and say you've done the original. You'll see differences right away as the castle is much higher, but the Magic Kingdom layout is similar to Disneyland so you'll also know how to get to Space Mountain for instance without a map. :)

my dad and I might be joining you all on this cruise I will be talking with him soon about if we are going. We went on a back-to-back cruise on the disney magic February 21st-March 7th, 2009, so got two things for a 99 dollar cruise, so we booked this one and one for December, the December one we are deff going on, but this one we might go on, it would be my dad's birthday, but I want to go on the Magic March 6th, 2010 for my birthday so we will have to decided if we are doing this one

We signed up today for this August's cruise. This actually will be our 8th DCL cruise. We love disney and DCL can you tell. They just do it so well. Last February on a 7 night Eastern, we felt guilty putting our princess, at that time she was 1 1/2, into daycare for the evening while the rest of the family enjoyed a dinner without flying food at my 6 year old. When we arrived to pick her up from the nursery at 10:30, we found her sitting on Cinderella's dress holding her princess purse on her arm and chatting up a storm with Cinderella. Cinderella turned to us and said that they were having a wonderful conversation that she had know idea what is was about especially since my daughter couldn't talk yet! The moment was truely Disney Magical.
This trip I will be travelling with DW, DS9, DS7, DS4, and Disney Princess2.
I know it seems to be a long way away, but it really is right around the corner before you know it. Has anyone started packing!!!!pirate:

I'm near Allentown close to lehigh university. How about you? On the cruise will be my 15,14,8,5 daughters and 4 year old son. I just got back from a carnival cruise for work that was my first cruise. I loved it, it was just me. It was a TA cruise there were 300 Ta on board I really had a great time can't wait for this. We are doing the parks for 7 nights prior the ids have no idea about the cruise. We drive from Pa so when we get in car to leave we are telling them that Mom (Me) wants to drive up to see the Disney ship to see it since I sell it and then we will get on they are going to flip. I see you have been on many I guess you have enjoyed it Jill

Gasperdam... Sorry, I didn't get back to you sooner. It's been a while since I visited Disboards.
Don't feel bad about putting the little one in daycare. After a little whining the first time, our DD didn't want to leave when we picked her up later that evening. Also, she went willingly every time after that. Plus, as you really, really and I mean really know, some alone time with the spouse is incredibly refreshing with 4 kids. The best is knowing that the kids are having a great time on their own. Not to mention, Palo is a great experience and delicious!!
The family is all fired up with less than 3 months to go!!:cool1: We made our Palo Reservation Friday night and I think I can almost taste the Calamari, Rack of Lamb and Chocolate Souffle already!!!pirate:

Is anyone interested in doing any of the exchanges that I have read about on other threads? I quite fancied doing a Fish Extender exchange if there is any other interest?
I'd also quite like some advice.
First on Nassau - Has anyone got any suggestions for activities/excursions for 2 parents, and 2 girls (11 and very nearly 6). I did fancy the dolphin swim but having looked at the videos on YouTube I was a little disappointed with the look of it, so have pretty much decided against it (unless anyone tells me differently).
Current plan is just to get off the ship and have a wander around, and then get back on the ship, but it does seem a shame not to see some of Nassau whilst we are there.
Second question is about the Pirate Night - both girls have got costumes, but neither adult has one yet - do most adults dress up? The kids really want us too, but I am not sure. If they do, then do they dress for dinner, or after dinner and before the party? We will be first sitting for dinner (I hope)
This is us, so if you spot us please say Hi.

about pirate night adults do dress up some I have seen more dress up on 7 night cruises though. 3 night cruises not as many dress up as 7 night cruises, but if you and your DH want to, you guys should go right ahead and dress up and don't be afraid and people usually dress up for dinner in the pirate stuff if they dress up because there are some great pictures to get taken. I usually just wear a pirate shirt.
And I will totally say hey to you if I see you. I don't know if anyone here wants to, but would you all like to plan a meet for the first day?

Second question is about the Pirate Night - both girls have got costumes, but neither adult has one yet - do most adults dress up? The kids really want us too, but I am not sure. If they do, then do they dress for dinner, or after dinner and before the party? We will be first sitting for dinner (I hope)
This is us, so if you spot us please say Hi.

1. Atlantis Aquaventure sounds pretty awesome if your into water parks. I went to Atlantis last year with the DCL but I didn't go in the water park.
2. I was one of those adults that dressed up on the 4-day cruise. A lot of people dress up, its pretty fun!
We'll see ya onboard!

Just wanted to say hi and join this thread. I just booked the cruise yesterday, kind of a last minute 'why not' :) I'll be travelling with my son who's 20. It is the 2nd disney cruise for us both, we previously took the same 3-day cruise about the same time in 2007. I can't wait!

Yup! I am British but lived in the USA in the 80s, and went to High School in Pittsburgh and University at Lehigh and then after University my parents moved back to the UK and after much deliberation I followed them.
I have 2 girls who will be on their first cruise as well, they are 11 and 6, and I've just booked them into the kids clubs. They are really excited about it.

I just booked this weekend.
My DH, DD (7) and I are looking forward to our 2nd Disney Cruise. We just went on the Disney Cruise in February and I got a 3 day cruise as a DVC add-on so I figured why not. We are getting in all the rest & relaxation before school start the following Wednesday.
I'm trying to learn from my mistakes last time and see how much more exciting I can make this trip.
There is so much to do and so little time.

Yay! It's going to be fun! Here's some questions for us all so we can keep our energy spirits high.
Where's everyone coming from? Who's tagging along? Anything special about this cruise/holiday (seeing how its "celebrate" year for Disney)? What's the most exciting part of your cruise/holiday?
For me, I'm from Vancouver, Canada and will be traveling with my friend. It will be kinda special for me because I'm actually on holidays for a month, my longest holiday ever. While a lot of people go on the cruise from WDW, I'll be coming directly from Disneyland in California. It'll be fun to see all those "Disneyland 2000 miles away" signs on the boat and be able to say "I was just there!" I'm looking forward to my second cruise, Summer Nightastic at Disneyland and taking time to relax.

I'm coming from Knoxville Tennessee and will be on the cruise with my son who is 20 and thankfully still loves Disney :) It was a spur of the moment booking about a month ago and will be our 2nd Disney Cruise. I'm really looking forward to participating in alot of things I didn't do last time, either because I didn't know about them or because I didn't want to overwhelm myself on my first cruise. This time thanks to the DISboards, I'm very prepared with info! I want to do a spa treatment and visit Serenity beach on CC and play bingo and see the Golden Mickeys among other things. Can't wait!!

We are coming from Gilbertsville Pennsylvania. This is our 1st cruise and our 15th Anniversary on the 27th of August.:yay: Hopefully, we will be able to celebrate this since I understand that we should be very busy!!! We are coming with our children, all girls, ages 11, 10, and 8 who insist that we cannot go on this cruise without them. Our first trip to WDW was last October and we had a wonderful time! We told the girls we were going for flu shots and went to the airport instead. What a surprise for them! Anyway, looking forward to meeting everyone and having a great time and making new friends! See you then!

Can someone please help me with info about Palo? I was wondering if it's possible to do lunch or high tea on the first day, before we actually sail? I've been reading about people getting to the port at 10am and getting on the ship before noon that day, so I was wondering if an early time at Palo was in any way possible. Because there are only 3 nights, we don't want to miss ANY of the scheduled dinners. And we don't want to miss any time in Nassau or Castaway Cay either.

Gosh, I haven't logged on in a while and this thread has taken off. I am so excited to see all the Allentowners, I went to Lehigh many many years ago! We will be in the Promenade Lounge at 3pm, it would be great for my girls (11 and 6) to make some friends on board.
We are travelling from England, and will be staying at the Beach Club the week before the cruise, and the Boardwalk the week after.
I am curious about excursions, what have you all booked for Nassau? After reading and rereading everything I could get my hands on, we have decided to not book anything and just take a walk around Nassau and then return to the ship for the afternoon. I was wondering about a horse and carriage ride, has anyone tried those before?

My dad and I didn't book any excursions, prob will just walk around and I want to buy a shirt in Nassau, get some pictures, but prob just that then enjoy the hopefully empty ship. We get in go again in december so if I want to do anything else I will do it that trip. My dad might also go to a beach in August, but I won't

We have late seating. Felt very rushed last trip trying to get to dinner at 5:45pm and we figure if our nephew is too hungry to make it until 9pm for dinner, we can let him eat early with the kid's club or order a bite from room service. We tend to get into a late pattern with our Disneyworld stay so it will probably be fine for us. Last cruise, we took a taxi to the beach where Atlantic is, threw down a blanket we brought and enjoyed the same beach as all the Atlantis guests for FREE! (other than the taxi cost). It was a great day and with this plan, we can adjust our plan to the weather- if it is crummy out we'll just walk around town a bit and enjoy ship activities. I wouldn't book the horse & carriage ride ahead of time- plenty of availability for it when you exit the ship- there will be plenty of those to hire if you are interested. We booked at Cat 7 and then got an e-mail from our TA about 3 weeks ago to go to a Cat 4 for $149 total for all three of us so we took advantage of that offer. Only 4 more weeks now!

HI I have been in Naseau before so my plan is to take all 7 of us on either the water taxi or regular taxi over to Atlantis look at resort pool ect and then do some beach time. you have to watch you will eventually get kicked out of the Atlantis beach hahah but there aer other free beaches over there so we will just move when that happens then when finished we are going back to the ship putting the 8,5 and 4 year in the clubs and taking 15,14 year back off the ship for shopping Tortuga Rum comp here I come!! I will be looking for you all at 3pm on that first day!! Jill
It will be easy to find me I usually post a picture of myself a week or two before the cruise so I am easy to find:goodvibes

We also are doing the late seating for dinner. We didn't want to be rushed and just wanted to enjoy the day. We have not chosen an excursion at Nassau and just also plan to walk around and let the day come as it may. Can't wait for the girls to meet and have a great time together. We are going on August 25th, and we should be at the airport by 5:17 that night, so we hope to be at Pop Century in time for dinner. We'll stay at POP for 2 nights before, and then after the cruise we'll be at POR for 3 nights (we're getting in on a little of the Free Dining action )

We are staying at the port of orleans french quarter, this will be our first cruise and have no idea what to expect. chaley
You can expect 3 days of heaven! The service and food out do all others, and the adult only pool and hot tubs are much appreciated! Worth the extra money!:cool1: We are also doing the "land and sea". Castaway Cay is also a paradise for all-adult only beach, kid beach, teen beach and family beach. The adult beach and the family beach serves different food. We like to take our drinks and go to the adult only beach. You are allowed to take your own alcohol, just don't make it obvious. We usually have our own personal bar in our room! We are taking our 17 year old daughter, Courtney, and her friend Brooke on their class trip. We got the $99.00 3 day cruise voucher for going back in February. Couldn't pass it up. We are from Michigan, and we are not having a warm summer.:confused3

Got this knocked out, senior pics, school clothes shopping, now, to plan the graduation party!! She's the youngest, so I'll be done!! Thats what this cruise is to celebrate-FREEDOM!!:cool1: I'll be 38 when she graduates, and my life is mine again! Fun times ahead for the husband and I!! We did not meet through a dating service, unless that's what you want to call my aunt!! LOL!

Is there a semi-formal night?? This will be kind of cool not to have to pack a ton of clothes to wear! I always respect the no jeans or shorts in the dining rooms, the formal clothes take up the room! We are staying at Disneys Old Key West for 4 days before the cruise leaves. We got a one bedroom vacation club home the has a washer and dryer in it to cut down on the amount of things we need to pack...you know the darn luggage rules at the airport! I am planning to bring Jello Shots and lots of alcohol for those who party out there!!:rotfl2:

Hi Peggy! We have not recieved our info yet either. In Nassau, we are going snorkeling. We have been to Nassau a few times and never went. We went to do the sting ray thing last time, and I would NOT recommend it to anyone. The stingrays are small and in captivity in a small area. Of course, we have been to Stingray City in Grand Cayman and the stingrays are free in the water and you feed them..that is the way to interact with stingray. I don't like to encourage the capture of anything! Atlantis, at Paradise Island is nice, but very expensive just to go and spend the day at the water park!! I would look into renting a room there if that is what you want to do, it would be cheaper.

nope, no semi-formal on the wonder either, there is a dress up night, which is optional. Last time I just wore Capris and a shirt for all the dinners since the Wonder no real formal or semi-formal night, on the dress up night which in the last dinner you can dress up if you want, but I didn't see many people dressed up. So I would say nice pants or whatever and you would be good to go, not to fancy if you don't want to be. I know I'll just be bringging nice pants/capris and shirts and not too fancy, and I'll party with you:cool1:, you might not think I am 21, but I really am.:goodvibes

well I know I wouldn't do both parasailing and snorkeling at Castaway Cay. I've been to Castaway Cay 7 times and it is so short of time there, that i just want to relax on the beach, take my time eating lunch, play some mini golf and all that stuff. But you aren't going to miss anything really, maybe the dance party thing with characters at the gazebo, but other then that I'd say you'd be fine

My family of 4 (myself, my wife, DS 18, DS 6) is on this cruise, we have a pre-cruise stay at Pop Century starting on 8/21, switching to AKL on 8/25 and then the cruise on 8/27 - I'm easy to recognize - I use metal crutches to walk around - here's hoping I don't slip!
We're from New Jersey, not far from Philadelphia.

We have actually booked on points, so Disney should know we are DVC so maybe they will mention something when we board.
We are also DVC. They usually have a meet and greet within the first day to show what specials on points they are offering. Fortunately/ Unfortunately my wife and I have added on points every cruise due to the incentives. In February they gave us a free 3 day cruise in addition to a discount on points. This cruise isn't our free one. Last cruise they gave out $99/pp vouchers for a 3 day cruise. So we still have another cruise to book besides the one we also have book for this up coming February. You can tell Disney really likes to take care of it's DVC members and keep them excited!:cool1:

I'm watching the weather and I'm not worried at all! I'm at Disneyland in California, so if flights get cancelled and I can't make it, I'm still at the happiest place on earth. :cool1: We'll... I'd be happy until the extra bill comes for the hotel costs anyway lol.
But seriously, bad storms like that will usually never directly hit Orlando DIRECTLY because Orlando is inland. Given this, getting to Orlando shouldn't be any trouble, especially given Hurricane Bill's projected path. If a storm does pull into Orlando area, airlines will usually allow you to change the day of your flight without penalty so you can always choose to fly in the day before the storm if it works out that way. I highly doubt we'll have any problems though, I wouldn't be too worried.
