I have been reading a number of mystery books by Laura Childs lately. She has a scrapbooking mystery series and a tea shop mystery series. I have read a little of each. How many scrapbooking fans here are also fans of this mystery series about a scrapbook supply store owner in New Orleans?

I never heard of them, but I love mystery series and scrapping, so I will have to see if my library carries them. Thanks for mentioning them!

I read the one's based in NO. I thought they were OK. Not really much about scrapping though.

I've read a couple of them. They were OK. I also wish there was more scrapping in them.

I enjoy Laura Childs. I prefer the tea shop mysteries as I like the characters better and am a teapot collector and brewed tea addict, but I do like the scrapbook ones also. I was particularly intrigued with
the altered book one and thought about trying it when I read that book. Thanks for reminding me :)

I LOVE these books! In fact I am reading the last two Tea Shop ones right now. I own all of the books except the latest ones. I have the Silver Needle Mystery checked out from the library and half way through it.
I love mysteries, but don't like anything really gory or "thriller". These are just sort of light and fluffy and perfect for me. Laura Child's is also supposed to be writing a new series that has more general craft projects, and I know it mentioned quilting and knitting-- The Cackleberry Club. The titles are all "egg" related. I also enjoy some of the cooking themed mysteries by various authors--Diana Mott Davidson is one of my favorites.
Here is the website for Laura Childs. And I am excited, it shows a new book for each series coming out! http://www.laurachilds.com/index.html

I'll have to check this out. I'm going with my DH for 3 days to his business conference with no kids :cool1: . . . whatever will I do with myself?
I was looking for a book recommendation. It sounds like I might like these. Thanks.

Ohh no, I'm behind a book! :) There's another craft series based on knitting - written by Maggie Sefton. I've read several and like them, though not as well as Childs. Joanne Fluke writes cooking mysteries - based on desserts - again ok but not as good as Davidson.
Thanks for the heads up on the new Childs series - I'm excited. I have most of her other books so will have to keep a look out for those.

Thanks for those recommendations. I will have to look for the Sefton books. I have one of the Joanne Fluke book sitting here waiting for me to have the time to read it!

Have you read the Aunt Dimity books by Nancy Atherton? Love them - good stories with a very likeable heroine and a stuffed rabbit (you have to discover the secret about the rabbit yourself or it would spoil the books). British cozy style mystery.

jane jeffrey mysteries are the best. :) (by jill churchill) jane is a pta mom who is always in the wrong place... :) they have wacky titles too like "a quiche before dying" and the best part is that they are in 3rd person. :) maggie

I also like her "Grace and Favor" mysteries, set in the depression.
