use the extra money when I get there by charging things to my room key.....such as, meals at Boma, and meals at Mara. Can I also use my room key to pay for things at other places besides AKL like tickets and meals at other resorts?

I know this sounds like a crazy question, but I thought it would be so great to go ahead and send in all my extra spending money and be able to charge everything on my room key instead of carrying around extra cash.

I suppose things could change, but I did that very thing a few years ago. It actually worked out great for us. The last time we went, I 'overpaid' my credit cards -- same basic affect...

We use our room keys to pay for almost everything. It's very handy. Two cases of extreme convenience. Once my son forgot his pass when going to a water park. Our other son charged his admission and the hotel just credited it off at our request. A second time my bag was stolen at the pool. Because we use our room cards so much, we had little cash ($20) with us and the room cards were instantly cancelled and reissued. No hassles with lost credit cards, etc. We were VERY glad we were using the room keys.
