hi my son 14 loves his music, his interests range from alice cooper, pink floyd. greenday and classical. he has taught himself to play the guitar and piano, he played a piece by bach on piano at his school concert now here is his dilemma when he was choosing his options he did'nt know if he wanted to work with children or do something with his music so he picked health and social studies, music and seperate sciences as his options to give him a choice later on, only to be told later that not enough students had picked music so this was being taken off curriculam for their year. he is now so dissapointed. he feels that music is now the way he wants to go. i know some of you disers are teachers so i was wondering if there was anything we could do to get him his music gcse. all help appreciated as i don,t know what to do to help him :confused3

I'm not sure if it's changed but if you take grade 5 piano theory exam this used to be recognised as the equivalanet to O level Music?

Does he have paino lessons at all - if so his teacher would know the latest info.

Good luck

By the way I did Music O level (shows my age!) and it was one of the hardest subjects as there was sooooo much to remember - you practically had to memorise whole scores of music so you could write sections of them in the exams!
