Just wondering if anyone is in the know with what the plans are for Cinderella's Castle Suite when The Year of the Million Dreams is over.

I am thinking they will turn it into one of those special extras that you can book on your Disney trip and charge a huge price to stay in there.

According to the CM who was our guide on the KTTKT last week, it will be used in granting wishes for the Give Kids the World and Make a Wish Foundation.

If this is true then the current Disney management gets a great big ATTA BOY for their decision. This would be a true 'Disney' move.:thumbsup2

You know it would be a PR nightmare for them to do otherwise... My guess is that this is the only way that they could avoid such a catastrophe. ;)

I think that would be a good move on Disney's part. It would really bring a lot of joy to a child who may be on their one and only Disney trip in their life.

I thought I heard that it was going to become the next DVC property. I can't imagine what the points total would be for a week. Once BLT sells out, this will be the next "exclusive" property.

I could see the room being offered as a "Make a Wish" room or a Complimemtary room for special Disney corporate VIP guests.
I highly doubt it will ever open to the general public except as an occasional contest prize or a promotion like the million dreams promotion.
Most of you are forgetting that the room comes with a private CM "Butler".
The "Bultler's" real job is to make sure the "guests" staying in the "Castle Suite" do not leave the "Suite " when the park is closed.
If the Park closes at 9 PM the guests cannot hop to another park for late park activities. They cannot leave for a late bite to eat etc.
Sure it would be fun for a night but much longer than that I might get to feeling like I was a prisioner in my castle ......kinda like Rapunzel.
---------------------------------------
BTW:
My point is I do not think WDW could rent the "Castle Suite" out to the public and legally make them stay in the room.
Also because of liability reasons they cannot let those guests wander in the park after closing because that is when a lot of the park maintainence is taken care of.
Just my 2 cents.

I knew there was a 24/7 butler, but now it all comes together. Sorry, I'm slow... I didn't even think about not being able to leave the castle. That would suck!! Granted...MK almost always closes last, but still...what a challenge. I'm with you. One night would be enough just to experience it. I'm too much into an 11:30 snack at the food court or counter service restaurant (like some ice cream!) to want to turn in early. I guess the advantage is the next morning you'd be the first into the park.

Not having won the castle stay (maybe in a couple weeks though... :) ), I don't know for sure, but I thought that they did make some sort of accomodation so that people would feel like total prisoners, and be able to go to other locations at least until a reasonable time. Something like they would be escorted to a limo to take them to/from the front gate or something like that.
You definitely couldn't go out for a walk though...

Our neighbors won in June. Per their story, you're in the castle and cannot even really look out on Main Street because the windows are stained glass. The guests are told that if they open the door, their butler will be there immediately to see what the problem is. No, there's no freedom to explore. But at MK that night, they do get front of the line priveleges, whatever food they want, and a reserved spot to watch the parade and Wishes.

I can NEVER see them allowing you to book the Cinderella Castle suite. It just wouldn't work. One room and the millions of people that visit Disney World every year? Crazy! Reservations would be on like a 20 year waiting list haha.
If anything I could see them auctioning it at charity auctions. That could work. Or maybe they'll do something like... you win a stay if you're the millionith person to enter Disney World in 2009.

Those are all great ideas, a DVC guide told me that she thought they would continue picking a random family, and would never offer it as something you could book, she said the stay is priceless.

I can see both of these being viable options. I do hope they open it to Wish kids. My daughter's best friend who passed recently visited GKTW and I know the only thing that could have made the trip more magical and memorable would have been a stay in the castle suite.

This would be a wonderful idea. How great for a "special" child to be able to spend the night at the Castle.

Actually, I dont think it would be too bad. The butler also has to cater to your every need. I've heard some guests ask for chicken wings or something... and they have to get them for you. And besides, that is a once in a life time oppurtunity to be there and its not like you are actually being held prisinor. You might not have acess to the park, but no one but you has acess to that room. lol I would love to stay there, im hoping that they keep the dream stuff going anyways... or make a wish.

They'd be nuts to charge for it. I can see it used to good purpose for charity, a contest of some sort or maybe "special tours" when it's empty.

I could easily see them renting it out to guests that can afford it... Sure a lot of people would want to do it... but once they started running the price up to those supper high prices... maybe $10,000 a night... I can see the wait list getting shorter.
You have to remember there are those few super wealthy travellers out there that could and would pay a sky high price that would more than cove the price of a CM making sure no one strayed too far.
As for the make a wish... I don't honestly see that happening... I could see the headlines and bad PR that could come from the first time a very sick kid dies in his sleep in the Castle at Disney... not something you would want to risk and something you would pretty much be sure would happen sooner or later if you had it open to very sick kids.

Per Disney Reservations Center management - the castle stay would be impossible to add to the Reservations system and priceless as well. It will continue to be used as a special give away from time to time and for such events as Make a wish and give kids the world. Right move for Disney I think:yay:

Well, I think it would be a horrible idea to rent it out to people.
What would be an awesome idea would be to let the Make A Wish people select a kid to go stay there every once in a while, that would be my wish. I dont think a kid would die there... and I also think if that did happen the head titles on paper would be "Child dies excited and with his wish granted" And then a story over how a dear child who was ill died peacefully in Cinderella's suite, dreaming of magic and how his wishes came true before he left. I hope that doesn't happen though...

I sure wouldn't want to sleep in a bed where a kid with a life threatening disease died O_O But I can see Disney making a headline like that.

Charity would be really nice, but there are sooooooo many sick kids that go to Disney. How would they pick a single family? I certainly world not want that job.
Also kids from those foundations already get ALOT when they go. They just walk up to any character (with EXTRA time with them), walk through any ride (that they can do), free stuff, basicly everything besides the castle and free food. Their trip is already extra magic. I think that SOME of the kids should get it just for extra magic, but I also think normal people should get some magic too.
I say they alternate some how and they let both people use it.

Well I was thinking more on the lines of it being set up within Make A Wish. The family that would get to go doesn't plan it themselves or anything, but Make A Wish just has random drawings or something and decides who can go, and then Disney can announce it to them that they get to stay when they arrive at the parks. Im not sure- it just sounds like a better system when set up by Make A Wish instead of Disney having to do the choosing, they just have to supply the magic.

Yep. I guess it's being used for a prize giveaway. I think that's a great way to keep it fair. I hope it's never rented out like a hotel room.
I also hope they do use it for Make-A-Wish kids. :goodvibes

With make a wish I would worry that it would be something that every one of those kids would then expect. Literally dozens of family are on their wish trip at any given time and they're spread out all over the resorts. Who would be able to get the castle? What about the extreme home makeover families- should they get it too? In theory it's a good idea, but I feel like people might begin to fight over it knowing it's their only disney trip with their child and wanting to make everything perfect.

lol sorry, for everyone that's just life, even if the person is not living that long. It would be a special prize handed out to someone in my opinion. Probably pretty secretly, instead of announcing it to the entire makeawish thing where all the kids know who it was. I would be jealous... and the parents would probably not like it, but they will have to realize that not everyone can get that room in their lifetime, no matter what the cases. Now im feeling all sad for them though.. awe poor kids.

Just got off the Oct 11-18 cruise and saw Kevin Neary. He stated that he had heard the rumours about having it go to Make a wish but that wasn't going to happen. He stated that it will be rented out, he said that what you pay in a deluxe, just add extra zeros to the end, so it will be very expensive, guess that leaves me out.
On a side note, he also said the legendary years will not be completed as originally planned, they have plans to add an extra building to each of the decades they currently have.

Now there's a PR nightmare waiting to happen... Cast members (from guest relations) have been repeatedly telling guests that Disney will offer the suite to Make a Wish Foundation-kids and Give Kids the World-kids. Once it's announced that they aren't going to do that, then there will be issues.
Although, if it takes renting it out for $10k once a month to inject a little more oomph into the theme park division's revenue during the recession, then so be it.
In regards to POP, I am assuming that they would utilize the land across the lake, but does that mean that they would only complete one decade...well..every decade??

Interesting thread . . . I think it would be really REALLY hard to objectively "rent it out" . . . seriously, it can be so hard just to get an ADR, let alone reserve a single ROOM! Unless it were priced so extremely out of league for anyone other than a gazillionaire to reserve it . . . I just don't see that happening.
I think that they should make a tour of sorts out of it . . .though throngs of people would not be able to pay 10k a night to rest their head on a silverlined pillow. . .I am sure thousands would pay $100 for a tour of the castle, maybe it could be added to the "keys to the world" tour . . .
I would really like to have the opportunitiy to see the castle suite, but unless they do something like this, I just don't see it happening in my lifetime!

I heard that there is a new level of trip package.. So far I've only had it referred to as the "Affluent package".
I'm told that it seems it may be a by-invitation-only package for guests who make over $500,000 a year. Rumors say they will have their own, separate IPO service (similar to Platinum Plan, although much more personalized), and it will be ALL inclusive.
Could be the castle maybe offered to some of these types of guests.. I hope not tho.

That's what I see - corporations being able to 'buy' a night in the castle to be used as contest prizes....with maybe some 'Make a Wish' thrown in there. Some MaW kids migt not be able to stay in the castle realisitically for just one night if they need lots of medical equipment. Not that the facility isn't handicap equipped, but for many families it might be difficult to move all their stuff for just one night.
