Sunday 10th August

Went to Typhoon Lagoon today
did most of the water rides before the crowds hit :)
Headed to Crusher Gusher last, dad & i decided to go on a double together & Gary was going down with Leanne (mum doesnt like water rides)
Dad & I went 1st with DD & DH behind

for anyone that doesnt know Crusher Gusher is a water flume that sends you up as well as down - to send you up there are wheel type things at the bottom of each drop to push you back up again.

So i sit at the front dad is sat behind me.....we go down the 1st drop & dad shouts its hurting his bottom!!! so i shout back that he has to lift his bottom up.....the next thing i know is i see dads left leg going up & I scream ''dad what are you doing'' just before the whole thing flips, i think i blacked out for a few seconds, i remember cracking my head on the side & seeing a white flash & heading down the slide backwards looking up at dad who looks in shock !! i'm shouting ''are you alright'' as he seems to not be moving...then i get spun around just as the slide drops me down towards the turning wheels that send you back up :scared1:
I remember thinking ''i'm gonna get my legs chewed off!!''
luckily that didnt happen & i got sent down the whole thing without a raft,
The life guard asks if i'm ok but all i can do is say ''my dads stuck up there''
They then have to stop the whole thing, turn the water off & a man climbs a side ladder to help poor dad who is just sat there stuck!!

i notice that my neck is really aching & the life guard looks worried when he sees me holding & rubbing my neck so the photopass lady takes me to 1st aid while dad waits for Gary & Leanne who have all this time been waiting at the top to come down & later tell me that Leanne was joking that we might have come off!!!

As i walk to the 1st aid the whole thing starts to hit home & by the time we reach it i'm a crying wreck - i think i was in shock!

I had to sit for ages with an ice pack as my neck felt aweful & by now my right shoulder was starting to ache & my right buttock... later which both had massive bruises!!

DD, mum, dad & gary all pile into the 1st aid room to see if i was ok, then mum & dad took leanne back to the lounges while Gary sat with me.

eventually i felt brave enough to shakily walk back to the lounges where i stayed for about an hour, then we deicded to head back to POP as DD was complaining her ear was hurting again & i was just drained!!

we sat in the shade next to POP pool & dad bought me some pillows for the lounger i was lying on, i promptly fell asleep for about an hour!

We had an ADR at Boma for 7.15pm & after a shower & some tablets we headed off, Boma was lovely as usual & i got the south African cider which i love..& needed ;)

We got back to the room about 9.30pm i needed an early night, watched Freaky Friday on TV with Leanne :)

I didnt realise just how shook up i was till a week & half later when we did Aquatica & i went on the tame family raft ride which i've always loved & came off it a wreck!!!!!

sorry no pics this day for obvious reasons!!!

next: MK - Tonys restaurant, my 1st dole whip  ... AK EMH's ...DD's dreaded ear ache gets worse!!!!

Good grief! Have never been on Crusher Gusher, and after your experience, it seems as though it might be one to miss. Hope your neck is OK now. :)

I'm always too frightened to go on the fast water rides and I know why now!

I wonder if this sort of accident happens often?

What a nightmare of a day, sorry to hear that, no wonder you slept, shock makes you do that. I hope you have not been left with a bad neck. I am not a fan of water rides down slides, don't mind the raft type rides.
