2010 Destination Discussion thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1931478

& some rumors about 2010.... From the Dis team... but SHHHHHHHHHH :ssst: :ssst: :ssst: it's secret!!!

2010 SAILINGS - RUMORS, RUMORS, RUMORS

We want to "dish some dirt" about the 2010 sailings. Keep in mind, these are just rumors, but that's how most of this begins.

It looks like the Wonder will be doing 5 and 4 night sailings in June, July and August of 2010. They won't alternate, it will be two 5's and a 4 night. No idea of where it will be going, but it should "ease the pain" for those wanting to sail while school's out and want more than 3 night sailings when the Magic is expected to be overseas.

We already got the glimpse of the Magic being scheduled to be in the Baltics. However, there appears there's a twist to this as it may not be heading there straight away.

From what we've heard, on April 10, the Magic heads on a 14 night Transatlantic voyage. It arrives on 4/24 and begins with an 11 night sailing. On 5/5 there's a 10 night, on 5/15 an 11 night and on 5/26 a 10 night.

Here's where it gets interesting. On 6/5 there's a 7 night. Hmm...could the Magic be traveling from say, Barcelona to England? Are those 10 and 11 night sailings in April and May in the Mediterreanean? It would appear so.

From England, the Magic is scheduled for four 12 night sailings starting on 6/12. These are rumored to be the Baltics, including Copenhagen, Oslo and Warnemunde, Germany.

On July 30, it appears that there's going to be an 8 night sailing. We're speculating this is back to Barcelona. The schedule from there is an 11 night on 8/7, a 10 night on 8/18, an 11 night on 8/28, and a 10 night on 9/8.

Finally, on 9/18, the Magic should be heading "home" on a 14 night Transatlantic voyage.

Again, none of this is confirmed, these are "rumors."

Shh....let's be sure this is kept just among friends.

No... I don't think Piggy was ever a princess... she never even got to marry Kermie.... Fozzy Bear would have had to do the ceremony... and unless Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and his trusty pal Beaker can come up with a solution... Piggy's still gonna be PORK!!! ;)

YUP! Earliest appointment I could get was Thursday.....we're one day better than Friday. Of course, we won't be here so we can't keep the appointment and we won't get TV until after we get home. That means that all of the new season shows that I was going to record while we're away, I will now miss.

I'll call again tomorrow and see if I can do another day better. I have to at least get an appointment by Wednesday.

Get some movies for tonight.

.You are way better than me. I didn't eat any breakfast yet but I would have used a little bit of butter on the muffin. I will count those calories and add them to the day total, but I don't eat every single item that they say I can in a day so I have some wiggle room.

Hello everyone. You all were every chatty. I started to read the old thread and realized how confusing it is when you aren't right there typing along with everyone else. I am like Jasmine apparently and I can't remember who you all decided was a princess. I didn't get to the last few pages but I have a feeling the princess talk was longer than the potatoes with cheese talk. We went to a birthday party for Brooke's friend yesterday and then we went to a street dance at the beach. By the time I got home, we were all beat so we went to bed.

Quoting from the last thread since I wanted to comment and it is locked. I am back there trying to catch up while I knit.

A little story I read once in Guideposts or Reader's Digest told of a lady whose baby had a white spot. She was thinking of buying Greecian Formula or using women's hair dye to dye it as she was so embarrassed :guilty: by it One day a little girl princess: came up to her in a store once and asked if she could kiss the baby.

When the lady said yes, but asked why, the little girl touched the spot and said that the baby had been kissed by an angel  so she wanted to kiss him too. :cloud9:

:cool1:

When we lived in PA I had a friend with BLACK hair who had a WHITE STREAK down the middle from forehead to crown. She was teased as a kid by children who called her SKUNK. When she grew up she felt that it was her identity, her style. When I met her she was beginning to go gray and said that the hardest part of going gray was that now her stripe was being lost ;) and she was not sure of her identity without it.

Another question from the last thread.

Guidance needed!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm going to be going to New York City for a few days in Oct. with my sis. One night we're going to a taping of the Letterman show but the other night we were thinking about trying to see a Broadway play. Has anyone got any suggestions about what to see, the best way to get tickets, any ways of getting deals, etc?

TIA!

Friends have seen MARY POPPINS and thought it was good. They bought their tickets before they left home--Ticket Master maybe? :confused3

If I went to NYC I would want to see that or LITTLE MERMAID.

Hope your day is going well.

I have to get back in touch with the Dept Chair. It's been plenty of time for him to get used to this semester and I want to make sure my classes start in Jan '09. I'll call him this week ::yes::

I was trying to think of a way to get your shows taped for you. Don't you wish you could have a friend tape them and email them to you ::yes:: I think tv will be different when our kids are adults. I suspect the lack of customer service will not even be an issue. But what are you going to do!!!! Did I miss the first Survior already?

I saw it!

Hi Marilyn, it's getting close now......are you completely ready??? You're leaving very early tomorrow morning aren't you? We'll be out of here on Wednesday. I'm almost ready. My bags are packed but I'm very upset that I won't be able to record the start up of the new season TV shows. I might just have to make sure that I'm back at the hotel so I can watch the opening episodes of my favorites. Then I'll have to try not to fall asleep. We'll see what happens.

Have a wonderful refreshing and fun vacation. I'll be home before you so I'll catch you back on here while you're on vacation or afterwards at home.

Tell John we asked for him and hope that he enjoys his time away too.

I'm just packed and have a bit of backache - you know the stress, need a rest type. Just having 15 mins before I start again. It is surprising what needs to be done even for a simple holiday. Hope the cases weigh well under the limit or John will start making comments!!!:lmao:

Not a chance. I have to go to work ;)

Excuses.

uh sure....just kidding. I couldn't copy from there...thank you :flower3:

I did try and copy and paste it but the colours etc didn't come out. I guess I could have done another, but time is precious tonight.

Good idea Gaylean.. will pack the lysterine mint...

I have to get back in touch with the Dept Chair. It's been plenty of time for him to get used to this semester and I want to make sure my classes start in Jan '09. I'll call him this week ::yes::

How exciting it's going to be for you to start the New Year, especially after your NYE cruise. That's the right way to kick it off!!!

No Survivor didn't start yet. I guess I'll try to watch them online when I can. I'll have to go through my guide, which I still get, and see what I'll be missing and then keep a list and try to watch online. OR I'll just miss the opening episodes. It's out of my control.

I can't wait for TV to "grow up" and be more advanced for our kids. I'm curious to see how they improve on it. It would be great if it was "on demand" and you could watch what you wanted when you wanted for regular seasonal shows.

I'm going to go to NBC's website now and see if I'll be able to watch Heros online tonight. Keep your fingers crossed.

I know there is next year but how many summers do I have left before they hate me

See you guys later. I have to go to work :sad1:

They may never HATE you. You are a cool Mom and you do fun stuff with them.

They may grow up and away and live their own lives without being in touch with you for weeks at a time, but that does not mean HATE has to be a part of it.

When you are together you will have great times and you will MARVEL at what neat adult-people they are and what fun they are to be with!

Our boys never went through the "I hate you" stage. The closest they ever got was one silly conversation where they were discussing with each other, within earshot of us both, that we loved the other one more. :rotfl2:

It was so funny :rotfl:

THEY LOVE YOU MORE

NO THEY LOVE YOU MORE

NO THEY LOVE YOU MORE

Unfortunately, the legs are worse again today. I just made an appointment with the wound doctor again tomorrow morning. It looks like the right leg is all infected yet AGAIN. It goes away, it comes back. I'm ready to give up!

GLAD YOU GOT AN APPT WITH THE MD BEFORE YOU LEAVE! :thumbsup2:

One of my MDs said that when I was in the hospital he wanted me elevating my leg HIGHER than my heart. He said it would help the fluid drain from the leg into the blood stream.

I raised the foot of the hospital bed as high as it would go and lowered the head as far as it would go--flat. Then I had a pillow under my head and pillows under my leg. People had to sit by my head to talk to me, but who cares, if it helps, I'll do it.

So, when you are resting, if you can be flat, that might be better than sitting with your legs up.

Thanks Jackie.....it won't stop me from running around and playing at WDW all the same. I'll have to keep it wrapped now and no pool. But at least I can do Epcot Food and Wine!

Just had my Thai Curry Chicken with rice and veggies...yum! Enjoyed it very much. Brought the AM snack (Cran-Grape shake) to have this afternoon and saving the afternoon snack for dessert tonight...as it's a sweet treat. :thumbsup2

Glad you liked the Thai chicken. I give those to John because I don't like curry and he does. So instead of another substitute.....I let him eat those. I'm glad you liked it though. I hate all the shakes except for the chocolate. Tonight's desert is YUMMY! It's a good idea to do the snacks the way you did. You want more of a snack after lunch and dinner, not after breakfast.

Eating has now become a fun adventure for you.....that's what I thought at the beginning when I was following the menu strictly.

Today I skipped breakfast and just had coffee. For lunch I had Pork Tenderloin. It was delicious. I've just had water since lunch. I'll have dinner and a snack later.

I supplement with yogurt and bananas and salad too. I just do one meal a day and then eat the supplemental foods and total the calories. Today there is no supplemental food in the house because we're leaving in two days. So I'll have two Bistro meals and a snack. I switch it up so that I don't get bored and can do it long term.

Pickles are a great late night snack.....very little calories. I'll eat sweet gerkins and dill spears.

I have to stop by the store and restock some basics (that I had to toss when the power was out). Do think I'll grab some romaine so I can supplement with a small salad at dinner ::yes::

Great idea!

I would have been VERY annoyed if I were on the EB with those kids. Ours were just perfect. I'm spoiled. I have never had a bad trip with kids on any of my Disney cruises. If I did run into that I would have been complaining every day to every CM and to the kids' parents if I could find them. It would NOT have been pleasant.

If I end up not able to do the Baltic, a Southern Caribbean also intrigues me. I'll be doing the EC and WC on the B2B in 2009 so that might be a fun WARM option in 2010! The rumors are interesting but we cannot plan until we have hard itineraries and compare them to Tom's work commitments so I do not pay attention until I know we have some time and money to spend and that is usually WAY AFTER the itineraries are announced.

We did not know there was to be a Westbound PC cruise or any Mexican Riviera cruises since we did not pay attention to the DIS or DCL sites until after the Westbound PC cruise was booked solid.

Then I called, whenever I thought about it, not obsessively or daily, and eventually there was a cancelation. I did not come on this thread until we had it booked.

I guess we are in a different planning-place than some. :confused3

Just got this from thread 5!

Yippee! Tyler just came to me with a piece of paper to show me he just wrote a 3, 2, and 5. I wondered why things were so quiet, it's because he was in his room practicing. He used to have a horrible time with those numbers because of the curves. His hand just wouldn't go that way. I was so excited and knew he did it without looking at anything to see how they go because there's nothing in his room with numbers on it! He was all happy and told me he was practing with the resource teacher and that's how he learned. It's such a huge thing for him to be able to write something from memory. He hasn't been able to before, other than his first name and "mom".

:cool1: GREAT NEWS!!
Another indication that the medicine is helping. :yay:

Those side effects you were worried about--like hunger--seem, from my experience, to be related to people taking the wrong medication. When your body needs it, then the nutty things are not issues. That may not be the case with everyone, but with my family it is. ::yes::

Jan, I'm sure everyone is in a little bit of a different position on planning future cruises. The Westbound PC was my very first cruise ever :) I was just VERY lucky to come onto the cruiseboard thread (after a few years on the WDW disboard threads) to try to get info on possibly cruising solo. My timing was perfect to hear the rumours for that cruise (thanks Jackie for helping me feel welcome :goodvibes ) and thankfully I was able to book the first day bookings were possible. Since I have to watch and count my pennies ;) I am very interested in what the options might be, since it is more economical to book early :thumbsup2

I am a born and bred penny pincher and prefer economy over almost anything, so that makes a lot of sense to me. :thumbsup2

I wish we could do that AND know that it would work with Tom's work commitments  but right now we have to do it the other way around. Maybe down the road we will have different options.

It was still very busy, but not CRAZY busy because my coworker returned from her cruise. I asked her about the Toy Story show on the Wonder and she told me she wouldn't see it again. She said it just didn't hold her attention like all the other shows do, and there was lots of murmuring throughout the audience like others felt the same. Interesting.

He fixed the TV so now it's back to normal for everyone in the house. It was a short in the cables coming out of the multiswitch off of the satellite dish. Way too complicated for me......I just know that it's fixed now. I'll be spending all day Wednesday programming 10 days worth of recordings. But I'm so glad that I'll get to see all the season openers tonight and all week.

Well that's one way to get me off my feet!

Unfortunately, the legs are worse again today. I just made an appointment with the wound doctor again tomorrow morning. It looks like the right leg is all infected yet AGAIN. It goes away, it comes back. I'm ready to give up!

So I'll see the doctor tomorrow and he'll do a culture and it'll probably be strep again.....it looks like I have strep throat on my leg....then he'll put me on antibiotics again. That means no champagne for me this trip.....can't drink alcohol while taking antibiotics.

I hope this is not a foreboding for how this trip is going to go. First the TV goes out and then the leg gets worse......hopefully my luck will change quickly.
Deb, I can't imagine how awful this must be. It sounded like you were doing the right things and this happens again. I hope things improve soon for that leg.

So, given all the new info/rumours about the 2010 itineraries, what are you all thinking of doing now?
It's too confusing for me to even think of any of it. I'll have to base it on what's during the summer when school's out. With all of the help Tyler's getting in school, I don't want him to miss any of that because it's really helping quicker than I'd ever expected (at least in the academic area). :thumbsup2

YEAHHHHHHHHHHH JOHN REALLY IS MY HERO!!!!!!!!!!!

Nan, Survivor starts this Thursday.......Don't Forget.

I get to see Heros and Dancing With The Stars tonight. YEAHHHHHH!!!!!

Bummer we will be in the car headed to Reno (wilson's race, again), Maybe we'll get Wilson out of school a bit early, it would be so nice to check in have a dip in the pool, then sanwhiches for dinner and SURVIVOR from our hotel bed!!!

I've heard similar reviews. I'll be interested to see it for myself in Dec.

I haven't posted any of my creations in awhile. Here are a few I made last weekend.

Not sure if anybody remembers, but before I left work on Friday, one of the partners had a 1/2 hour conversation with me about the new job. He asked me if there's anything they can do to stop this from happening. I told him, sure, they could match the pay and number of hours (40 compared to 37.5) and toss me a few more vacation days, but the insurance is the big kicker for me. I told him I'm almost 40, so there are things that could start going wrong, and I just don't like the idea of the GIANT yearly deductible when the new place can give me the plan with ZERO yearly deductible, just the $20 copay for most things. But I told him I'm sad to leave because I really do enjoy the guys I work for, even the old guy, believe it or not, and I like the comfort level of knowing everything there.

Well, there must have been some discussions because today our office manager called me into her office and told me that same lawyer talked to her and asked her if I'd be OK with them asking me to stay with them for the same amount of pay. I told her just what I told him, and she said, "OK, I'll tell him you said no."

Well, after I left her office, I went to talk to that lawyer directly and told him of the conversation in the office manager's office. I told him I just wanted to share that info because she's not known for accurate communications. He thanked me for letting him know.

Just a bit later, his secretary (while I was at her desk working on the filing from all the work I did while she was gone) helped me realize that since they can't change the insurance plan for the whole firm, if they really want me to stay, they could take the amount of the yearly deductible (which is the main dealbreaker for me), figure out how much per hour that equals over a year, then add that onto the increased amount that the new job is offering me. It's just that simple. We came up with the dollar amount and of course, she'd want a couple dollar increase too if I'm getting one, and I asked her to go mention it to that lawyer because she's his secretary and knows how best to communicate with him. ;)

As I left today, she confirmed with me, "So it would take XXX dollars for you to stay, right?" So I'm hoping that means she's going to talk to him because I just don't have the guts to demand that.

HOWEVER, about 3 years ago I was hired elsewhere and my current job offered to match what the new place would have paid me, and I stayed. So if they did it before, they just might do it again! If not, it's fine, it's just fun to negotiate and very nice to feel appreciated! :goodvibes

OH! Tyler's day.

Morning: 1/2 smile/1/2 frown (just a straight line mouth) for "keeping hands and feet to self", and smiley face for "not disrupting class".

Afternoon: Smiley face in both categories!

So this was a GREAT day for him! His teacher said there was only one minor incident in the morning. It didn't involve hurting anybody, so that's good. He just had to keep touching another child's face and had trouble stopping. He has this thing where he just has to touch and it's sort of like tapping the person over and over again. VERY irritating to that other person, I'd imagine.

SO WE WENT FOR ICE CREAM FOR HIS REWARD! Yummy! :goodvibes

Karate class was horrible and they almost asked him to leave, but it didn't involve hurting people, so I can handle that. Plus, when it came time for him to perform his moves of a particular form in front of everybody, he somehow switched off the troublemaker switch and did it perfectly. Amazing.

He was totally exhausted though, and almost fell asleep on the way to his 5:30 OT appointment. Poor guy. Then we still had to get home, have dinner and his bath and read bedtime book. He barely made it awake through it all.

LET'S HOPE HE CAN DO TWO DAYS IN A ROW! :yay:

Thanks, I scrapbook/do swap stuff to relax. Its also time my mom and I spend together just the 2 of us.

I have good news:
This past weekend My DM, sister and I went to Chattanooga to go to a scrap convention and the mall. This was my moms first time leaving my stepdad since he couldn't walk. I asked Matt if he would stay with him for the day and he did. We had a fun time, I spent lots of $$$, the mall was worse than our local mall though but still fun. While we were gone Matt took my stepdad to the bookstore, target, and hardees. He took his wheelchair and they had a good time too. My poor stepdad said it was the first day no one had yelled at him for trying walking. (it scares mom when he tries to walk). We are thinking of doing this once a month now (girls day out). So all in all it worked out fine. My mom is doing better since she went to the Dr. for depression medicine. He said it was normal for people who take care of a disabled spouse to become depressed. She is starting to relax a little but she has always been uptight.

Strange thing about Tyler's day. Both his teacher and the special ed teacher told me all morning it was like he had ants in his pants. So bad, they said they've never seen him like this so far this year. It was very extreme they said, but by afternoon that was completely gone. I don't think that's a side effect of his particular med, but I'll still mention it at our appointment on Thursday, but for some reason, I'm kind of thinking it was nervousness. I say that because on the way to school this morning, one of his arms had itchy bumps all over the top part from his wrist to his elbow and they looked like hives. I told him that Grandpa (my dad) gets bumps all over when he's really, really worried about something, and asked him if he's worried about his day. He denied that of course, but I can't help wondering if he was feeling pressures, knowing his med has been increased and feels expected to have a better day. And those bumps were completely gone after school. In fact, he told me he noticed at lunch that they were gone. Strange, huh?

This is definitely not cute like the Spartan one was the other day, but this is Tyler yesterday trying on his scout stuff for the first time:

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a14/hollyntyler/P1010142.jpg

We're still waiting for meetings to start but I think it's going to start this week. He's very sad to hear they're on Thursday nights when he's at his dad's. I hated seeing his face when I told him after I found out. I was told they'd either be Monday or Tuesday, but since nothing was organized (and still isn't yet), the mom who volunteered to be the den leader can only do Thursdays. So I assured Tyler that if his dad can't (or is "too tired" to take him) either Sheilah or I will get him there. He said, "But it won't be the same if they take me because I wanted YOU to take me." I assured him I'd explain the whole thing to his dad and ask his dad if he minds if I show up too.

I really hate the idea of intruding on their days together. After all, I wouldn't be too happy if his dad told me one day, "Oh, by the way, I signed Tyler up for swimming classes and they're on Monday nights, so YOU have to take him." I emailed him a couple days ago about the situation and told him I never meant to impose, etc. :guilty:

Also, Holly as Tyler gets older more and more things will come into his life and both you and dad need to realize that's just how it goes. One of my girl scouts sees dad on Friday nights for dinner and a movie, but now that they are getting older they have events that happen on Friday night. Her dad is just going to have to get over it and change his night to accomodate what his daughter needs in her life. This really is no different that what we face in a married house hold. Kids events don't happen to make our life harder or easier, but we as parents can choose to embrace our childrens events and passions and all that comes with them or not. Says the weary mom that goes to wayyyyyyy to many go-kart races (that she really doesn't enjoy, because they have only outhouses for bathrooms :sad2:

How cute!:lovestruc

It was just in one of those boxes that have everything you need. Mine was a Fresh and Easy brand but if you don't have those yet you can probably buy them at any grocery. Mine was.....surprise....three cheese :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: It didn't taste like cheese though but it was good. It still took like 30 minutes so you have to have a little time.

Not yet. I think it will change after I take the 3 day class I need. There are a few positions I can't do until that class. I'm happy to be easing into it. Plus for some reason I am more motivated for the rest of the day after I work those few hours :goodvibes

Good Morning!

Very busy day yesterday. Our corporate Intranet launched. I've been working on this project since the end of June. We had a company lunch and learn where I did a demo. Now on to the next phase of the project.

I do have a new find for everyone:

Pandora Radio

I found out about via an email I received from Mrs. Bennett's parent, Chumby. It was about a new feature available (I already listen to streaming radio and internet radio via Mrs. Bennett).

Pandora allows you to create your own custom radio station that plays the genres, artists and songs that you want to hear. You can listen to your radio stations via your computer and other enabled devices.

I have set up several of my own custom stations. It's fabulous. It's also free.

You can find out more about it a www.pandora.com

I understand this and have since the beginning, and actually have tried explaining it to his dad for quite some time because Tyler wanted to sign up for soccer a while back and his dad didn't want him to because everything was on a Saturday and he didn't want to have to get up early and do stuff.

My only problem is that we should discuss it before one of us signs him up for something and the scout thing didn't work that way because of them telling me the wrong day they thought his meetings would be, so I feel bad about forcing it on his dad. But oh well, not my fault, I never intended it that way, so he'll just have to deal with it. :thumbsup2

Ok chatty people! I go away for a week and have over 50 pages to read on the old thread (which I had to go search for) PLUS 10 pages on this new thread! AACK!

First of all - had a good weekend w/ my sister & niece....Ian was gone until Sunday night at 6pm, so didn't get to spend too much time w/ him. We did spend some quality time together though after he got home.

Really tough leaving them yesterday....I really don't like knowing that it takes Sydney a while to warm back up to me and then I have to turn around and leave again. I keep remembering how close I was to Ian & the way our relationship grew & then I think about how little time I get to spend w/ Sydney. It makes me sad.....I really need to play the lottery so that I can fly up there more often.

I got to spend some good time w/ Lisa too....David (bil) was in Virginia so it was basically a girls weekend.

I have a few sights that I can sometimes get discounted tkts from/with so will need to get those to you.

There are some great shows playing right now.....I really want to go see Little Mermaid.

Rent is no longer there (sniff, sniff). Wicked, Mary Poppins, Jersey Boys, Phantom of the Opera, Spamalot, The Color Purple - all amazing shows. Really depends on what you are into. Tarzan was great too-but no longer there either.

Finally read what all those 2010 rumors are (as they appear to be right now)...if it turns out to be that way then I will be looking at the 6/12/10 Baltic cruise (if St Petersburg is included). Talked about this w/ Gydell & Connie last week - if DCL does not include St Petersburg in their itinerary, then I will be going elsewhere. I may then consider one of the shorter cruises but will have to wait and see.

JACKIE - have you ever been to England??? If we're going to consider a cottage stay that answer will help me figure out where to stay - I know the Cherry Tree cottage is in an area about 2 hrs from London in an area I have not been to, but am flexible :goodvibes

What class do you need to take? You never answered my question about what kind of job you have...that's OK, I won't take it personally....

Fresh and Easy ROCKS! I live in between two of them. On the day things expire they make them half off so I get a lot of meat that way and either eat it that day or freeze it. They also have things like cheese and baked goods and fruit and veggies half price too. It use to be easier to get it because no one new about it but now you have to go in the morning. Plus for every 20.00 you spend you get 5.00 off. Plus it is closer to me than a convenience store! OK enough of the advertisement :lmao:

I'm doing the noon aide at my job and I do other things for the office and teachers. I'm also a sub for the secretary and nurse. I need to take the "No child left behind" class so I can do other jobs. It is only a three day class that they offer at the adult school. My job is only 2 hours a day or so right now but it will lead to a better job.....I think

FROM THREAD 5:

One year, when I was teaching, I decided to learn calligraphy. I took a class from a woman in her home with a few other people. I had this huge "Aha" moment as I was struggling to learn to write the letters and needed to have my alphabet in front of me all the time to refer to--this was exactly the way it felt to be a Kindergardener or first grader learning to write! It was a very powerful experience for me--and I'd already been teaching 20 years at that time and had taught writing to dozens of kids. At that moment I realized just how hard it is. My hand would cramp up, I'd leave letters out of words, words out of sentences, and it was SO laborious! I've never forgotten it!

:cool1: What great insight!

 Can we require that of all primary teachers who don't GET IT now? :teacher:

And the teachers of older kids can be required to take a course in their "I-cannot-stand-that-topic" course like the English teachers are required to take Calculus and the Math teachers :teacher: are required to take Shakespearean plays and the History teachers are required to take Physical Education :cheer2: :yay: and the Phys Ed teachers are required to SIT STILL IN THEIR SEATS AND take Latin .....etc...... :woohoo:

No, you weren't ragging, just offering a perspective that I might not have considered (you didn't know), for which I'm always grateful.

I would actually like it if the scout meetings change every year. That would be helpful! I get the impression his dad isn't happy about it. Everything else I email him about, he responds in major detail. But the response to my email about the scout meeting day issue was just "I'll take him on Thursdays. I'll go into more detail later." And I never heard anything else about it. :headache: Maybe if I email him the picture of Tyler wearing the scout stuff that will help. :thumbsup2

I know how you feel about your kiddos. One of the nice things about racing lately is my nephews are hanging around with us at the track. These boys grew up with Aunt Nan as their primary babysitter. When they hit 10-12 they all grew up and pulled away. My favorite nephew (don't tell the others) is really loving helping Paul and he and Wilson are very alike, so I'm so enjoying having him around now.

:goodvibes

 Maybe Mom would have benefited from a little medication years ago? :confused3

Some people have struggled on the edge of depression their whole lives. They felt guilty :guilty: when they were told it was all in their heads (which was RIGHT) and that they should pull themselves together, so they faked it :) What a stressful life! :sad2:

Hoping things pick up. ::yes::

Can you get a handicapped room for the cruise?

Love the embellishments you make! :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2

remember the Pack meetings (ours are monthly) are a family event. So both of you should go. Make sure you go for sure since this will be the place that Tyler gets his advancements and reconitions.(sp) even some of the den meetings can be ok for both parents, just ask. You'll love scouting and I'm sure Tyler will too.

You are such a good detective!
(We need a smilie with a Sherlock Holmes hat !)

Now if Tyler and his teachers can learn to recognize that symptom and then figure out some ways to diffuse it, like time in the therapy room or a run down the hall and back or 20 jumping jacks in the hallway where the teacher can watch and no one is making fun or just some words of affirmation, we might have another piece of the puzzle!

Yeah, well, that's not going to happen. My replacement starts tomorrow morning. AND they're hiring an EXTRA person to help the worthless secretary we have that can only handle working for 1 lawyer. That makes me SOOOOOO angry, now I'm glad I'm not sticking around here because I'd get fired for the things I have to say about that. If somebody can't do the job, get rid of them and hire somebody who CAN. Every other secretary before this one was always playing solitaire on the computer because that position doesn't produce enough work to keep somebody busy. And sure, I play around on here when I don't have work to do, so I'm not complaining about that part, what pisses me off is that nobody else had trouble handling that job, so she shouldn't. Or she shouldn't be here. :headache:

Yes. I definitely don't want to reduce the med just because of a short time of "ants in the pants" if the teachers are able to work around that. That is much better than having him be violent towards others. But, it could be a fluke thing. After all, that was only one day. I'll just have to wait and see how today and tomorrow are. :thumbsup2

WELCOME BACK Monica!!!

I'm back from the doctor........the leg is infected, but it's not cellulitus yet. We caught it early this time. We took a culture but don't have the results yet. We're stopping the antibacterial scrub and we're back to wrapping with the burn cream. We're on antibiotics again. We have to stop the weeping or we will keep getting infected. We have to lose weight, elevate the legs and use the compression sleves.

I'm going to Mickey's house and I'll worry about it all when I get back. In the meantime I'll stay on the antibiotics and keep elevating the legs while wrapping with the cream. We're still on schedule to leave tomorrow night. I'm excited and can't wait!

Yes, that got my attention. I have been to England in the summer of 1979! I'm felxible too. I loved York, but the south of England may have more places to visit on day trips if we want. Can you use the compression sleeves on the trip and wear them while sleeping?

Or is it like a sock you can put on in the morning before getting out of bed when the swelling is down from having been elevated all night and thus help keep the swelling down during the day?

Do you have two pair?

If they get wet from the fluid you can wash them in the sink in the room and hang them in the room over the fan to dry while you wear the other pair.

I'm still having 2nd thoughts about losing so much time with Tyler. Now I won't see him from Wed early morning until Sat at 5. We at least had a bit of time together before and after karate. Oh well, he's excited about getting to do the after school program every day now, so that's good I guess.

So now we'll only have about 2 hours together Mon & Tues after work, Saturday evening, and all Sunday. Permanently. Just doesn't seem fair. Doesn't seem to be enough time with a little kid. OH well, nobody said life is fair, I guess that's just the way it goes. :sad1:

Can you use the compression sleeves on the trip and wear them while sleeping?

Not going to do it. I would have to take the machine that plugs in and the hoses that connect between the machine and the sleves and then both sleves, one for each leg.

Or is it like a sock you can put on in the morning before getting out of bed when the swelling is down from having been elevated all night and thus help keep the swelling down during the day?

No it's tarp like plastic and both sleves fit from thigh to ankle. It's very cumbersome and hard for me to do by myself.

Do you have two pair?

Nope.....just one.

If they get wet from the fluid you can wash them in the sink in the room and hang them in the room over the fan to dry while you wear the other pair.

They don't get wet. My leg will be wrapped and if the wrap is wet, we'll change the dressing and put a dry one on. My left leg is not wrapped, but it is not as swollen and does not weep.

Jan

It's so sweet of you to be concerned. But I think we'll leave the compression sleves home and do it after we get back. It's only 10 days. In the meantime, I'll elevate them on the trip.

Yup, I heard about that scholarship fund too. Unfortunately, since the pack fell apart last year, nobody could find people to get things organized this year, so we missed the start of popcorn sales. Tyler's goal is just to get to the $300 prize level, and I'm just not sure that will happen. We'll do another street next time he's home, but that won't be until late Saturday. We came up with $120 sales from work and $50 from our street. I have a few friends I'll email and see if they'll purchase. That's about it though.

Unless his dad & stepmom will cooperate and take an order form to work, but he still hasn't even talked to me about Tyler being in scouts, so I'm not sure he'll help with sales. Jerk.

I sure hope Wilson makes his $2500 goal! GO WIL, GO!!!

Here's something funny. Tyler's been wanting spikey hair just like the kids at school since last year. Actually, he wanted a mohawk last year like a few other kids, but he's settling for spikey. So today I thought I've make his day and used some gel I have, plus a bunch of hairspray, and made his hair spikey. It didn't last long, he said it was flat before lunch. I had told him this morning if it doesn't hold up all day, we'll go look for a real product today after school. So we did, and I bought something called La Bella Spike Glue! :rotfl2: After he went to bed, I tried it on myself just to make sure it works before getting his hopes up. Of course, my hair is too long to stand up, so I just tried with the bangs. IT WORKS! I look like a unicorn! :rotfl: I can wiggle my head all over, tip it upside down and side to side and the spike still pops back up! :lmao: He's going to be SO HAPPY in the morning, I'll be sure to take a picture and will share it when I get home at the end of the day. His dad is going to be so UNHAPPY because he's very conservative and doesn't like anything "off the beaten path". :rotfl2: I'll be nice though, and will send him an email warning him. :rotfl: Tyler's so tired of the short buzz cut his dad always makes him get, I'm helping him be a bit of a rebel. ;) And he told me this morning that all the kids told him his hair looked "so cool", so he'll love having it last all day!
