Brooke grew that much in 1 year????
Well it may have been close to 18 months. Our passes ended in March and we took it while we had our passes last so judging by the outfit it was probably fall or spring since we can't go in the summer so it was either last spring (around 18 months) ago or last fall (a year ago).

Michelle, Holly and Gaylean, thanks for the pics.
Michelle, the area is fantastic, and I can see why you love the lake so much. I believe we went into the Adirondacks on our way back from Niagara Falls to boston - could that have been right? We called in on the old winter Olympic place which I ca't remember the name of. It was around this time so looked spectacular, though not quite as good as your pics.
Holly, fun pics of you and Tyler!!
Gaylean - brooke sure has grown this last year. We are hoping opur grandson has a growth spurt so he can ride some big rides next May. Thinking of getting a stretching machine.:rotfl2:
Well, he says he is still going. At least for now so I have started getting things packed.
For Hawaii cruise, it is me and my two kids and my brother all squeezed into a tiny inside cabin on the Celebrity Mercury. LOL. It sails out of San Diego into Hawaii for five days and then back to San Diego. It is 15 nights. Then we are spending three nights in San Diego, a place I have never been.
We are visiting Kona and Hilo, Honolulu, and two days in maui, and a short stop in Ensenada. Since the cabin only sleeps four, i am afraid I can't adopt you. I booked it last year at this time, having no idea of the terrible year ahead. I am glad that I decided to keep it though. It has gone up since I booked over 2000 dollars for the same tiny inside cabin. I am glad I will be gone for Christmas, it would be too hard to be home.
That sounds a great cruise, and I don't blame you for being away for Christmas. You will have some fun there.

Last day today. We have to be up at 5.30 tomorrow to get the transfers down to the ferry accross to Tenerife. I'm always frightened we will sleep through the alarm.
I will pop in tonight when the announcements have been made and see what we are all feeling about 2010!!
I'm just not sure what I want to do. I'm wondering if I would rather just go over to the US than do a cruise here.

Michelle - nice photos. That is such a beautiful part of the country. I'd love taking drives up there.
Illinois is not very interesting. No hills. Flat as far as the eye can see. We never take drives in the country, because there really isn't anything worth seeing.
Though I feel a trip to the botanical gardens or the arboretum coming on.

Aw Shucks! LOL......guess I'll have to get DH to take me there!
You're going to have a good time. It's a good thing that you kept your reservation. It's amazing how much money you save by booking early.
I fully understand how you don't want to be home for Christmas. Last summer I lost my mom and I ran away for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I just could not be home. I struggled through New Years and Easter and I was on our cruise for Mother's Day. I struggled with her birthday and the one year anniversary. It's difficult and it was just easier when I wasn't home.....it helped me get through the first year. This year I will be home and I don't know how it's going to affect me yet. I will find out.
Hugs to you and the kids to help you through these hard times.
Deb
I know how you feeling as I lost my dear mum long times ago and first year I find it harder.
She died around December and it was harder but now I amhappy to have family together and love Xmas. I always remember her at Xmas or her birthday.
Best way think happy memory and buy flowers that what I always do for her birthday and Xmas times.

So my brother's ex wife called me today. We never speak to each other except for when we have to. She said my nephew is doing great in boot camp and he'll be graduating on December 19 in Parris Island, SC. He's officially a marine. I have to go to his graduation. I have to see him in his uniform. I'm sorry my mom missed seeing him doing this.
So I have another trip to plan......I'm going to South Carolina in mid December. I've already booked us an oceanfront room at a hotel in Hilton Head. I wanted to check out flying as opposed to driving. I don't even know what airports are near there. Anybody have a clue.....Monica???:confused3
There is an airport in Hilton Head - next closest would be Savannah (GA), then Charleston (SC). :goodvibes

What I don't think WW promotes enough is that meetings can be paid for with HSA's which means you can reimburse yourself with pretax dollars.
No sure if you can do that with the program you're on or not.
Wow, I didn't know that about WW, that's a good deal. I would think it would not apply to BistroMD, because basically you are just buying food. There is supplemental reading materials, but that is all available on the web site for anyone in the universe to access.
Ian, I was thinking about your morning greeting the other day (ALL CARBON BASED LIFE FORMS) and remembered a Star Trek (original series) where the aliens referred to the humans as "Mostly Bags of Water". :lmao: :lmao:

We went to Madeira last year and it is a beautiful island. Deborah has been to Barcelons when she did a Med cruise last year, and we have friends who have been and say it is lovely. Can't remember the other places.

I was mostly wondering about Madeira. There really isn't that many ports. The only other one is Cadiz, Spain and CC of course.

You can easily walk from the terminal into town if you didn't want to go on an excursion. I guess one excursion would be up to the toboggan run in Monte
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAAkKq_zuBA&feature=related
There is a cable car that goes up, and beautiful botanical or tropical gardens to look around if you like that kind of thing. Madeira is famous for being 'floral' and has some beautiful flowers.
It can be misty(clouds) up there though.

Hello Marilyn, Monica & Deb:surfweb:
I was looking for 2010
My husband want Baltic Cruise on 18th July 2010 then we change to 6th July 2010 because he want see Finland.
But it cost pricey and we might drop down from Balcony to Cat 2?
I will email DU to get the right prices for us as our son will be 13 years.
No flight for us to Dover.
Still too expensive.:surfweb:

There is an airport in Hilton Head - next closest would be Savannah (GA), then Charleston (SC). :goodvibes
Thanks, I checked them all out. I think we'll end up driving again. I have another convertible reserved for $250, even with a hotel room on the way down and back it's still less than the $700 it's going to cost us to fly and then we still need to rent a car too. It's a good thing John likes to drive and at least we'll have less luggage for only 3 days.:cutie:

That sounds a great cruise, and I don't blame you for being away for Christmas. You will have some fun there.
:lmao: pirate:
 Well I didn't think you looked pregnant at all. I have always looked pregnant - even now at 60!!!:lmao:
Marilyn.. you did indeed go through the Adirondacks... You went to Lake Placid which is the ONLY place to ever host the Winter Olympics TWICE!!! 1932 and 1980!!!
I'm about an hour and 1/2 south of there... beautiful country....
So... does this mean since you've already been to my part of the world that you wouldn't come to visit again?
Michelle - nice photos. That is such a beautiful part of the country. I'd love taking drives up there.
Illinois is not very interesting. No hills. Flat as far as the eye can see. We never take drives in the country, because there really isn't anything worth seeing.
Though I feel a trip to the botanical gardens or the arboretum coming on.
Ian you can come and visit my HILLS ;) anytime you want!!!

Just posting a quick note as I take a lunch break from working on the Federal Election here... whew talk about busy and it's only going to get busier as we head into the last week of campaigning.
1) to say I am still alive
2) to say we are still interested in at least one of the cruises
3) to find out what the general consensus is with everyone.
At first glance my choice might be the return trip from Barcelona to PC as it heads out on Shannon's birthday so it might be a nice b'day present for her this time. And because it is the longest cruise of the bunch.
However, the northern capitals is intriguing because of the ports of call.
Anyone got a synopsis of the thoughts of the group so far?

Not really comparing apples to apples but this is 1 thing I found - DCL vs RCCL.....(RCCL not out for 2010 - used June 10, 2009 for comparison)
Itin is practically the same (RCCL does Helsinki & Tallin)....
Inside vs inside....w/ single supplement $3699.88.
DCL said what? $3,649 - $4,419 ?? And that's w/o single supplement.
RCCL says $1,879.00(Inside) $2,179.00(outside) $2,839.00(balcony) $4,299.00(suite)

No Baltic, transatlantic or Med for me. I was looking for a Southern Caribbean. Guess I'll still have to wait for that one.
Hope everyone has fun planning their next trip. I'll stick with the Tortola B2B in 2009.
Deb, sorry none of this works out for you, but I know I'm looking forward to seeing you and John on the B2B :goodvibes
Well I'm not sure we will go on one of these. They are going to be expensive, and with the current economic climate just worsening. I think I would much rather go to the US somewhere.
I don't really want to do the Med. The Baltic is a possibility, just because it would be a change and we could drive to the port!:lmao:

OK Here is my Pronouncement (Though Not Yet Etched in Stone)
When I got home from work, I finally had time to look over everything.
We would LOVE to do the Baltic, but I nearly fell over at the prices. I just don't think we can swing that (or want to). I wish I could, but $8 +/- grand for the two of us is a little too rich for my blood.
Soooooo .... we are seriously considering a Transatlantic (TA to you riff-raff).
Not sure which direction. Either would be fine with us. What would sway us is who is going.

Okay! Plan away! which one are we booking!
Stop the Presses!
We are going to book the Eastbound cruise.
Not that this matters to anyone else around here, but I checked the west bound departure date (September 18, 2010) and it is Yom Kippur.
So, it would have to be the east bound in April for us.

The airport at Barcelona is beautiful and very easy to navigate. I'd go there alone, and I'm not much to travel alone. Hope that helps
Maybe I'll plant the bug in Paul's ear that he can get rid of me for a while for a TA. I'd love to do either one, but like Deborah can't take the kids out of school like that again. It was hard on them to miss so much. :sad2:

OK Here is my Pronouncement (Though Not Yet Etched in Stone)
When I got home from work, I finally had time to look over everything.
We would LOVE to do the Baltic, but I nearly fell over at the prices. I just don't think we can swing that (or want to). I wish I could, but $8 +/- grand for the two of us is a little too rich for my blood.
Soooooo .... we are seriously considering a Transatlantic (TA to you riff-raff).
Not sure which direction. Either would be fine with us. What would sway us is who is going.
Are you saying watch out for the ship I'm on??? just kidding, it would be much more fun with friends across that great blue sea.

I'd be more likely to do April too because Tyler and I both do much better with cooler temps. But we'd be sad if it's too cold to swim, so that wouldn't work either. But April is better for school because I think it would be better to miss towards the end of the school year rather than the beginning. But I don't want to scare people away with the thought of Tyler being onboard again.

Holly,
How did the other law firm react to your decline on their job offer? I just remember that you sent them an email. I don't recall their response. Is the Office Manager back to talking to you again yet?
They never even responded. It's a good thing I made that decision though, because my first day at the new job, I would have had to leave at 11:30 to pick Tyler up when he got suspended. :scared:
Office Manager still isn't talking to me. I sent her an email today telling her I have to leave at 4:30 this Thursday for our parent/teacher conference at school and she responded with "That's fine." So I guess that would count as talking to me! :rotfl2:
She DID take away my helper though. My fellow DISer co-worker is on the Magic this week, her first day off this vacation was last Friday and she comes back next Monday. Well, I asked the Energizer Bunny lawyer if he'd like me to make arrangements for Tyler to go to the after school care and we'd skip his stuff this week so I can just work until 5 while she's on vacation this week so I don't get so far behind like last time a couple weeks ago. He told me not to worry about it since the new girl (who was supposed to replace me) is dedicated to him now, so there would be 2 of us this week. Well, he hasn't figured this out yet, but that's not the case. The new girl was told Friday by office manager that "Holly will just have to handle this side of the office by herself" and she assigned her to help the slow slacker secretary who can't keep up with her 2 guys. :sad2:
So I expect a huge blowup tomorrow when he sees all his piles of work sitting there and the new girl tells him she's been pulled away from him. :scared: Should be interesting!

I am seriously looking at this. This will most likely be much less expensive than the Baltic or Med. I cannot in good conscience spend so much money on the Baltic or Med. Of course, if they discounted some cabins later.... I might consider it. Both the TA are out for me because of the timing, as a college prof, I can be out during those times. But, the Christmas sailing might be just the thing to make me feel better. LOL.
Plus my son will be out of high school and my daughter will be in Middle school. They don't have midterm exams, I think, so if I need to miss a day or two, it will be no problem. I think.. LOL.

I have found the holiday cruises to be the most expensive. I think they have people stuck because of kids in school. At least for us that is the case. We have done Xmas and now upcoming NYE. I'm telling myself to stop cruising at the holidays and look at going without the kids. Sucks for them huh? What a mean mom...:scared1:

Here's what I know...ALL 2010 cruises will go on sale Oct. 14. The Christmas cruise will be an 11 night leaving the 18th stopping in (not sure of order) St. Martin, Guadeloupe, Barbados, Martinique, St. Thomas and CC. I'm also not sure of where the days at sea fall. I was told that the prices will not be available until the first day of booking, the 14th. However, I'm going to try back in a day or two to see if maybe they have some pricing.

It probably would be warmer, but on the the plus side, April will be just so, so ... transatlantic. In the old movies, they are always sitting with lap rugs on deck on their way across the Atlantic.

So, it would have to be the east bound in April for us.
The Westbound goes to St Maarten and Tortatola too so that makes it more appealing to me. It is also warmer so the kids could swim :confused3

Good evening, everybody!
Michelle - loved the pictures! that area looks beautiful. I laughed when I saw how small your Wells is :lmao: There's a Wells, BC 30min from where we live and its a tiny place too!
Cruise dilemna! I'm not sure what we're doing?:confused3 I was just talking to Ken and he didn't realize it starts booking net week :scared1: Does anybody know if the 50% off booking will still be on next week?

Yep, the Baltic is out of the question on DCL. :scared1: The TA with a one way airfare would be much more possible. I'm attracted to the Westbound because of ending up in the Caribbean for a few days :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Plus it gives more time to save up $$ from my Sept 09 cruise.
(hmmmmmmm...wonder what three in a verandah would be????)
I'm not sure you meant what I am thinking :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Hi Kaylee!
How are you doing? Scott & the girls?
Hi Monica!!!!
I am doing well....no change with the vision....but still lots of positive thoughts about waking one day soon with complete sight back! :)
Scott is doing well, dealing with my new eating habits (I have had to give up Gluten, Dairy and Eggs!) and enjoying his job.
The girls are great....we are in the middle of soccer season so life is crazy. School is going well and they both are having good years.
How about you?!

OK, I just emailed my waitlist request form for the 4/10/10 EB TA!
But of course, if airfare is too outrageous, I'll be cancelling, so nobody get too excited, I just want to have something, knowing I can move it or cancel if needed. I just couldn't pass up $999/person for 14 nights. Unbelievable!

but on the the plus side, April will be just so, so ... transatlantic. In the old movies, they are always sitting with lap rugs on deck on their way across the Atlantic.
We can just dress smartly for doing a turn around the deck.
I have a wonder mental picture of the two of you! :lmao:
Well, I'm still sitting at my desk at work at 7:42PM...must go home and get some dinner! My head is swimming with all the possibilities for 2010
Has anybody gone to the main page of cruise meets to see if threads are already started for some of these....like OURS was?

Isn't it nice to know it's not YOUR problem???? Just duck and let them handle it... I think it's probably a good time to go to the Ladies room... :rolleyes1
Simple, relax and entertain ourselves!
I'm with Nan on this one ... nap, eat and drink, drink, eat and nap.
Ok... I'm in... maybe I'll be able to get to sit in one of the deck 4 chairs...didn't make it last time...
Thanks! I'd like to go on the TA but I'm nervous about the flight prices:scared1:
But the cruise is dirt cheap... take the EB one with the rest of us... We need an official photographer and I don't think Cherie is signed up yet... ;)

so, one thing I have been doing for myself is getting IV's of some nutrients to help decrease the inflammation. I got tired of having my RN friend come over 2-3x/week, so I started giving them to myself! I have gotten quite good at it and have impressed myself. Never thought I would be able to do that but I guess you can do anything when you want to get better!

Yup! This time I can truly say I did NOTHING to stir the pot. In fact, I knew nothing until the new girl told me. She was apologizing for not being able to help me and that's when she told me. I told her not to worry about it, that she just fell into the middle of some ugly office politics, but it things will eventually settle down. After a big blowup maybe, but the dust will settle soon. :thumbsup2
