It's been 19 years since my last visit to WDW. I had no ADRs, no plan then and no idea that this next trip was going to take up so much of my life!
Welcome to my first PTR!;)
The Who, The When, The Where and The What for.
Me and DH
Sept. 7th - Sept. 13th
POR
Our 10th Anniversary
Who we are.
I'm lazydoxy aka Kristel.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Me002-1-1.jpg
I'm the fun one. The one who always finds the glass half full, the silver lining, the diamond in the ruff, etc. (I'm no saint, I have 'pity me' days and 'I wish I had a machine gun on the front of this car days) I'm also the planner on this trip, all trips for that matter. I hate planning! I don't like it when my plans go astray. I don't like my fun restricted to time frames. :headache: Thank goodness for the DIS and a couple of other websites.
DH aka Doug.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/DogsIII056-1.jpg
Pictured here with one of our 'kids'. Note the tatoos on the right arm. This will help you find me in the parks along with the LGMH on my bag. DH is laid back but he has no sense of humor. He looks mean but as you can see by the picture, he has a good heart. He has no planning or organization skills at all. We are proof that opposites attract.::yes::
We live in the country between Lafayette and Indianapolis. We both were born and raised in Indiana. We're both blue collar all the way. No fancy shmancy, over-glorified, blown out of proportion story here. Just simple folk who love to travel. No kids, just dogs and cats and 1 turtle. Good friends and good times, that's what it is all about!:thumbsup2
If you check out the thread listed in my signature, you'll see I've been to Disney on several occasions. DH has been to WDW only once when he was very young.
I really want to take a moment and thank everyone on these boards! Every little tidbit has helped me so much with all my planning.:disrocks: I hope that my PTR will be entertaining and informative for everyone else. Here's a list of some of the websites I found helpful:
www.waltdisneyworld.com - for all things Disney. (Park info. and maps, itineraries, pricing, ride descriptions, restaurants in the DDP, etc.)
www.allearsnet.com - up to date park info, reviews, dining menus, packing lists
www.touringplans.com - create itinerary, dining reviews, packing lists

Just after we returned from our vacation in Gatlinburg, Sept of 2006, I started thinking about our next vacation. Our 10th wedding anniversary would be in Sept of 2008.:bride: I wanted to do something special.
I began lurking on the internet. California, Pennsylvania, the Carolinas, Michigan. Finally I had picked out 3 possibilities.
I went to DH and asked him to make the final decision. You know how after so many years you are able to read your spouse's mind without trying - He gave me that look that says 'I don't care, you pick.' To which I gave him the look that said 'For once in your life make the decision.'
These were the choices:
1. The Myrtles Plantation
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/Myrtles_000.jpg
(I can't take credit for this shot. It came from the website)
We were supposed to go here a few years ago but Katrina beat us to it.:(
2. Las Vegas
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/001-1.jpg
(This is a postcard) We spent our honeymoon here.
3. Walt Disney World
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/Mk.jpg
(Taken from the WDW website)
Drum roll, Please!
He says very quickly, Disney World. What? Excuse me, is this your final answer, do you want to use a life line, poll the audience? Your answer is #3 WDW? That was indeed his final answer. I was absolutely stunned. Never in a world of a million dreams would I have thought he would pick WDW. I secretly had hoped that he would pick WDW. :cool1: :woohoo: :dance3:
The easy part was done. I had no idea that I was going to be a Disney freak by the beginning of 2008.
Next up - Where we gonna' stay?

Next up - Where we gonna' stay?
Where!!!??? I know it's 3 months til your trip, so I guess you already have your reservations. Hmmmm... I'll go right in the middle and say Port Orleans.
Am I right?
OK, I'll wait and hear the whole story. I'm shocked that your DH picked WDW. Mine would have picked the beach! :rotfl:

This is a big decision. WDW has so many great looking resorts. Where do you start. This would have been early in 2007 when I started browsing WDW.com. I didn't know about the DISboards yet. I didn't think to go look in a book store for various guides. All I knew is that I wanted to stay somewhere I'd never stayed before and I was kinda' hooked on the idea of a villa. I finally took some info. to DH. ( I always try to include him in all decisions. That way he can't blame it all on me if he doesn't like it.:rotfl2: )
AKL

or
WL
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/wilderness_lodge.jpg
Both of us liked WL.
By the way, for anyone who thinks WDW is out of their budget - I actually did start putting money aside in Sept. of 2006 for our anniversary trip. $120-$150 a month to be exact. I just knew that in 24 months I was going to WDW and I wanted around $3000 in my vacation account by then. It takes planning and patience. WDW is worth the wait. I've waited 19yrs, 24months is a no sweat deal, right?:worried:
As I said, we both liked WL. So I started getting package prices from WDW.com. A villa is pretty salty. I go to DH and let him know the damage. Villa vs. standard room. If we get the villa we won't need the DDP. We can take our own food with us. DH says 'We'll be on vacation, you don't want to cook!, We just need a place to sleep and take a shower.''http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/bettys1.jpg Betty is my hero. However my DH does have moments of sheer genius. He is very good about bringing me back to reality.
So POR it is. Wait a minute. I thought we were staying in WL??!!:tilt:

Well....
About mid-way through 2007, I got an opportunity to expand my job-set skills. I think that's what they called it. Anyway, I worked a day shift job for the first time in decades. Mon.-Fri., 8 hrs. - Quite a change from my usual 12hr nights, 3 on 3 off. It really threw a wrench in my personal life. I didn't think about WDW for a couple of months. I mean, I had over a year until we would be going, right?
So when I finally got my mouse ears back on, and I looked at my 'saved vacation @ WL', not booked yet, I decided that I didn't want to stay in virtually another cabin/woods type resort. We had stayed in a cabin in Gatlinburg in 2006. Time for a change.
I found these at WDW.com
POFQ
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/Port_Orleans_FQ.jpg
and POR
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/Port_Orleans_riverside.jpg
Absolutely beautiful!!
I saw that PO was moderate pricing. Cool!:cool2:
Back to DH, who is tired of making decisions. I told him I liked POR best. He did too! Very Cool! He especially liked the part about saving money.
I booked POR on-line the first part of Jan. 2008!!!:cool1:
Room with water view, 2 adults, 7 days, DDP, Park Hopper for 5 days plus insurance = $2,25960. I also let them know it was our anniversary.
DH wanted to drive to WDW. I said as long as we add an extra day going and coming home to stop overnight, that's fine with me. I refuse to start a vacation tired and cranky. (DH really doesn't like to fly, he won't admit it. He had to take Dramamine when we flew to Vegas.) And this will give us some time to sight-see on the way down.
Now I had to rent a car and find somewhere midway between us and WDW to stay.
Next up: Discovering the DIS and other helpful tools.

Where is everybody?!
Hey! I was right! (or am I?) Very cool place to stay. We stayed there a couple of times. The first time it was Alligator Bayou and the other was the mansion side. Both visits were during the "Dixie Landing" years. We enjoyed it very much. Both sides of Riverside are beautiful. If you are streering away from rustic, I would have requested the Mansion side. But, all sides are great.
I am looking forward to hearing more... ::yes::

Lydia, I think there are just too many great TRs out there right now. Darn DISers!:rotfl2:
Thanks for the tip on the styles at POR. Actually, DH likes the rustic and I like the mansions. I let them know it was our anniversary - didn't make a pref. on room other than water view. We'll just have to wait and see!:confused3 I like surprises!
I was going to make another installment but I got side-tracked. There's always tomorrow.

I have to admit, at this point of time, I thought I was close to being done with my planning. :lmao: :lmao: Then I found a book at one of those big bookstore chains. You know the one with the latte bar.

DH was looking for a book by Dean Koontz. I wandered over to the travel section. There are quite a few books about Disney. (DUH) Most had the word 'guide' in them. I decided things had to have changed in 19 years,(Another DUH!) buying one of these guides couldn't hurt.
After looking through about 10 of them, (Here it comes) I decided on 'The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World - 2008', henceforth known as UG. (Wait for it) The book has everything you could ever want to know about WDW and the Orlando area parks. (BAM!) This is where reality slapped me in the face. Holy smokes!!:faint: I knew nothing. I am sooo not going to panic!
I read 775 pages in less than 3 days, only skipping the sections about children and special needs since I have neither. My Disney freak emerged.:hyper: Panic set in. (Ping, Ping, Ping) A thousand new terms bounced around in my head, a hundred websites had to be looked at, I really need to figure out where we are going to eat so I can make ADRs, and now I need to know which park to go to on what day!!:scared1: That's when I found the DISboards, Thanks UG.

Hi! I am looking forward to reading the rest of your trip planning. I found your report via the very sweet thread you posted about your father.
I'm in a similar situation as you trip-wise. It's been 21 years since I've been to WDW and obviously, a lot has changed. I don't actually have a trip booked *yet*, but I'm trying very hard to convince my boyfriend that it would be a great place to vacation.

And if I am, I've got a lot of company.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
Wow! The DISboards! What can I say that you all don't already know. If you can't find it here, you won't find it, period!! I was on a whirlwind of discovery.
:offtopic: By the way, at the end of January, I was able to go back to my previous position of anonymity on the night shift.
I found out there are a whole bunch of discounts and freebies just waiting to be snatched up. I knew I could get a discount through my insurance on things like car rental and hotels. Didn't know I could get some through my credit card co. Mousesavers.com has all kinds of discount codes for all kinds of stuff. There is also a thread on the DIS with freebies.
My employer gets a discount on car rental @ National. Lafayette doesn't have quite as many choices of car rental companies as the bigger cities. I stuck with National because it's located in a more convenient area for us. I would love to rent a bigger more stylish car for our vacation. However, I also didn't want to bust the bank on gas. We're going with a Malibu.http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/08_Chevrolet_Malibu_LT.jpg
The best discount I could dig up was through Master Card. I just went to the MC website and looked for car rental under the discount section.(Visa also does this) They saved me $15. I also used a National code for another $28 off. You have to keep checking on these discounts. They are only good for a certain time frame and change a lot. Total for 10 days rental = $267.84. I didn't think that was too bad. I booked our car at the end of Feb.
People keep asking me about the gas. The way I see it, if we weren't going on vacation, we would be driving to work. We would be filling up 2 cars at least once that week. The first full tank for WDW is already in the rental. We'll be using WDW transportation while there at the parks. With the Malibu we should get about 30 miles to the gallon. That means we are only out 1 to 2 tanks of gas. I can afford that for a WDW trip. I'll keep track of this for my TR after the trip.

I got a little ahead of myself in the last post. The beggining of February was the nutty period.
I think I was on the internet every day looking at clothes, bags, shoes, Dis stuff, packing lists, dining menus, touring plans and hotels along our route at the halfway point of the drive down.
I was collecting gobs of paperwork with 'very, very important' information. I needed somewhere to keep it. This is what I came up with:
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/DisneyBagandBooks001-1.jpg
My WDW Bible. It's just a simple binder with a couple of pockets inside. Not expensive. I bought the stickers at 'Dollar Tree' and the transfer lettering at 'Hobby Lobby'.
And I decided, early on, that I wanted a daily journal to write in while on vacation at the World.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/DisneyBagandBooks002-1.jpg
Front, inside.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/DisneyBagandBooks004-1.jpg
Back, inside
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/DisneyBagandBooks005-1.jpg
I found this at 'Dollar Tree' also. It's just a cheap little notebood, about 5" x 6". I added stickers and lettering to it too.
It is a little over 1,000 miles from my front door to WDW. (I'm trying not to think about that too hard.) I started looking for places around Atlanta on 75, not too close to Atlanta, though. I looked south, thinking it might be best to get through Atlanta on that first day. I compared interests and hotels at different towns/cities. Tanger Outlet Mall is always a nice place to go and spend money. However, the hotels in that area :scared1: - not so good according to reviews on Tripadvisor.com.
Actually, the halfway mark would be north of Atlanta. I found what looks to be a 'peach' of a town called Cartersville. The Comfort Inn at this town had good reveiws.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/CartersvilleGA.jpg
It looks like one of those nice local towns, with beautiful buildings, good food and nice people. The Etowah Indian Mounds are near here also. I think it will be a pleasant stop. And I got a discount on the hotel room through my insurance - $59.13/night, tax included. I booked it for the way back home too.

Very cute organizational tools! (big word, huh?)
I will have to check out our local Dollar Tree. I brought some neon lime green glow bracelets and necklaces there for our last trip. I wore just a couple and ended up giving some away to kids sitting close by (for Spectro and Hallowishes).
I can't wait to hear what you booked for ADRs. (I booked mine just this morning!!! Yay!) And bad news? I hope it's not tooooo bad. :(

Ding! And on this floor you will find that you need to figure out where you will be so you can figure out where you will eat. ADR, TS, CS, Snack. OMGoodness! It's like a domino effect and it's picking up steam.
ADR - Advanced Dining Reservation. Definition from UG - "In reality, however, you have a Priority Seating, because you're still only guaranteed to be accorded priority over walk-ins." So why are these so important? I mean, this meant that not only did I have to find menus to the restaurants so I could decide where to eat, I had to kinda know what park I was going to be in on which day. A whole other nightmare. My insides at this point, remember I don't like having a plan, are screaming 'Get out while you can!' My brain was saying, 'Suck it up, pansy, put on your flak jacket and dive in!'
I dived in! At this time the park hours for Sept. had not been posted yet. I started looking at restaurants. DH and I have similar tastes in food. Although he likes fish and seafood way more than me. I've dined at a few 'fine' French places, DH is more comfortable at McD's. We both enjoy trying new tastes and we are fairly easy to please.
2 restaurants from my previous trip were a must:
50's Prime Time Cafe (PTC)
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Disney/Disney1989038.jpg
and the Luau at the Poly.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Disney/Disney1989010.jpg
I loved the way I felt when I walked in PTC in 1989. It was like walking into my grandma's house. It was so comforting. We had a great CM. He played the part of a cousin. Sat right down next to me and started talking about how Aunt so and so was in the kitchen trying to make us something good to eat, and how we better eat all out veggies or she'd be mad. Oh, and keep your elbows off the table or no dessert! It was so much fun.
The Polynesian Reveiw(Spirit of Aloha, SoA) was outstanding. I like poly food and the show was terrific. A good change of pace for the week. This will be our ann. dinner. And yes they know. I hope it is still as good as I remember. I've seen mixed reveiws.
I showed DH the menus for these and got no arguments. I had carved the other 3 days of TS (table service) restaurants down to 14 or so and took those menus to DH also. Yeah, I got that look again and had to explain why we were doing this so early in the year. I figured since I picked 2 he could pick the others.

OK, I understand now. I finally looked at your posts about your Dad. I must say, I'm sorry for your recent loss and it is so nice that you have all of those great memories.
I have the same picture on Main Street, where the flower carts are. I swear I am wearing a red tank top, too! I will try and find it...
I still can't believe your last trip to WDW was in 1989! My husband and I visited MGM that fall for our honeymoon. We also ate at the 50's Prime Time back then. Over the years, we stopped putting it on our list of "must-eats". It just seems like they don't play around much anymore. But, we've added it back on for our December trip. So, we'll see...
Can't wait for more! :surfweb:

OK, sorry about the delay. Did I say I was going to have us caught up by the end of this week?:confused3 Busy, Busy, Busy.
Where was I? Oh yea, ADRs and DH. I have to admit. Although DH was kind of reluctant to engage in the planning at first, when I started talking about food and showed him the other restaurant info., he became very interested. Hmmm??
His first choice-(Hey T4P LOOK!) The Coral Reef. If it has an aquarium, we're there!:fish: His second choice - The Big River Grill and Brew Works. If it has beer, we're there. His third choice: (I kinda helped with this one) Boma. Sounds interesting and yummy!
By the time we had the 'where for eats' figured out, the park schedule was out. I used the guidelines in the UG to help me figure out which parks on what days. This helped me figure out which restaurants on what days. Now I just needed to wait for that magical 180 day mark. March 11th for me. I had to work that day so I figured March 12th would be OK.
March 12th a tragedy struck my family. My father passed away very unexpectedly.:( He wasn't expecting to pass and we weren't expecting him to pass. Things were a mess. He hadn't planned anything. He had some major bills. A house that would need to be fixed up and sold. It took some time for us, my brother and me, to figure it out. I posted a tribute to him on the trip reports board, the link is in my siggie and in a previous post above. And let's just say, WDW dropped from my radar for a while.
I did manage through all of this to make my ADRs. Guess what? I got every one of them at the times I wanted. With the exception of BRG&BW. You have to make those with the restaurant 30 days prior. I have it marked on my calendar.
Here's our IT for WDW:
Sept. 7th - Arrive around 5ish, settle in, and eat CS @ POR. Might go to DTD.
Sept. 8th - EP, CS lunch, ressie for supper @ Coral Reef. Eve @ DHS?
Sept. 9th - DHS, ressie for lunch @ PTC. Eve. - boat to DTD and Ghirardelli's
Sept. 10th - MK, CS lunch, ressie @ BRG&BW, Carriage Ride @ POR.
Sept. 11th - AK, CS lunch, ressie @ Boma, explore AKL and do campfire stories.
Sept. 12th - OUR ANNIVERSARY!!!!! Make up for what we missed at MK and EP. ressie @ SoA. I am ordering a cake for this event.
Did I say anything about trying to lose weight so I can eat like the fat girl I am and not feel guilty at WDW???:p :p Food glorious food!
So what do you think?

Yes, you have helped me out. I am going to have the diver with a sign. Like I said, I want to rattle the 'oh so cool' disposition of that DH of mine. I've never seen that idea anywhere on the boards. Hopefully you've helped more than just me.
As you can see, we will be at WDW for Sept. 7th to 13th. You will be there at the same time. If you are going to be at a park the same as us, let me know. Maybe we can meet up.::yes::

From the minute I signed on to the DIS, I started reading about what bag to carry @ WDW. The most popular one seemed to be the Baggallini Messenger Bag. I browsed several web sites and looked at a lot of bags. I am not a bag expert, however I thought the Baggallini looked the best.
With the help of my fellow DISers I was able to purchase it at a huge discount. It is specifically - Women's Baggallini MES160 Messenger Bag. Regular price @ Shoebuy.com - $31.45. Membership (free) discount - 10% and Promo discount - $10.00 off. Free shipping. Total cost = $19.30. I don't know if you can still get a promo discount or not. Here are some pics with some of my 'stuff'.

Tiny fan for DH ( I didn't think he'd like the mister) - $2 and change from Walmart
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/DisneyTripStuff005-1.jpg
The only complaint I can see right now is that I wish the bag strap was about 2-4 inches longer. I like my bags to be more towards my hips. I will be giving the mister and Baggallini a trial run next week. We are going on our yearly trek to Shipshewanna in N. Indiana. It's been super nice this week. I bet it will be hot next week. I'll let you know how they work.
As far as packing lists go - I took what I thought I would need from a couple of lists and printed up my own. Allearsnet and a poster on the boards have everything you could ever want. My definite recommendations for the parks: Sunscreen, Shout Wipes, Wet Ones and Ponchos. The Shout wipes and Wet ones are in my purse all the time, not just for vacation. I can't eat without either one of these things. My chest is a magnet for food and let's not get into the germ thing with hands.

Oh, boy! We're moving along nicely now! Looks like you are going to hop about the parks. We like to just get the base tickets and stay all day. Either go in late and stay late, or go early and leave early. But, this time it's just me and my DD20 and we can go from 8am-12am!!! Oh, we'll have my parents too - but they will probably leave out after dinner.
You chest is a magnet for food :lmao:

I was just lookin' at the previous posts. I've got a lot of stuff. And I'm not done yet. I expect I'll be dragging out the "el grande" suit case any day now. Yep, I'm nuts. I have officially crossed the line into Disney insanity. I just went to HD and grabbed some more LGMHs. I should have taken them all!!!!
Here is a Picture of the elusive LGMH.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/CatsandLMGH003-1.jpg
This is a must for all DISers!!! Unless you don't want to be bothered by your DISer buds??:rolleyes2
Now listen up! :listen: :listen: If you are new to Disney you need to know this next little secret. Now, I know there are a few people that would like to keep this info. a secret, I say share the wealth! If somebody is willing to put up with the heat and possible rain and take kids out of school they need to know!! I didn't know when I happened to book my trip. I just plain lucked out. I stumbled upon a thread called the 'free dining watch'. What's this all about? I clicked on it.
'Have they posted the dates yet?, Who does this apply to? Can I add it to my current booking?, Disney Visa Card holders get the first crack at it, then it's open to the public. etc., etc.' I nearly had heart failure. I still don't know the details. But I can tell you this-I GOT IT!!!!
WDW offers FREE DINING in September. The offer usually opens up in April. They allow DVisa to receive it 1 week prior to the general public. It's only open for specified resorts for a specified time. I just watched the 'watch' thread and called during the first week the offer was open to the public. I got a great CM, Persia, at the WDTC and she hooked me up, no problem. This freebie saved me $400 plus!  !!! I never thought being married in Sept. was that big of a deal until now. I just think of it as a little extra anniversary gift from WDW.
Clothing! I started buying clothing, specifically for WDW, early on. I know it is going to be steamy. I focused on 'wicking' material. The 2 best sites I found were http://www.shirtsupplier.com and http://www.sierratradingpost.com.
Wicking shirts and shorts can be expensive. These sites have great prices. Sometimes the selections and sizes are limited. However, they get new inventory all the time, you need to keep checking. I haven't had any trouble with the merchandise I've ordered. Their delivery is very prompt - 3 to 5 days most of the time.
I also bought a pair of hiking sandals at sierra - Kamik. Sorry, Croc people, but no way. I also don't wear socks with my sandals. I wanted something comfortable. Merrells and Tevas are too expensive. The Kamiks were on clearance - $15. Plus I got a 10% dicount for my first order. Guess what? They are great!. I've tried them on all day treks. No blisters, no chafing and they fit perfect. You can see them in the top right corner of this picture.

Alright so most of the work of planning is done at this point. I've got the ressies for hotels and car and dining complete. I've paid for the trip, as far as WDW's part. I've got money in the bank to cover the rest. Here's my complete IT including some extras.
Sept. 5th - Friday
I pick up the rental car and we pack it that evening. I am packing a separate duffle for the overnights at Georgia so we can leave the big suitcase in the trunk. I'm also going to fry some chicken and make some kind of salad. I thought it would be nice to stop at a park or rest stop and have a picnic lunch on the way down.
Saturday - Leave between 4 and 5AM. If we see anything interesting to visit on the way down, we've got plenty of time to stop and enjoy it. Eat our picnic lunch. Check in at Cartersville around 4PMish.
Sunday
Up early again. We would like to visit Gatorland before we go to WDW. DH loves reptiles. Next we will check in at POR around 5PM.:cool1: :cool1: This is my all time favorite shot of POR - Acadian Mansion from PO.org.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/RiversideAcadianHouseThumb-1.jpg
Then we'll unpack, eat CS at the Riverside Mill Food Court and either explore the resort grounds or go to DTD.
Monday
Let the party begin! We are starting our vaca. at EP. CS lunch, probably the Tangerine Cafe?? Ride musts are Soarin' and TT. Dinner @ Coral Reef and we might go to DHS in the evening.
Tuesday
DHS day. Ride musts are ToT, R&R and TSM. Lunch @ 50's PTC. Dinner @ RMFC and DTD evening with a snack from Ghirardelli's
Wednesday
MK all the way. Grab a morning bite at the Main St. Bakery. Must do rides are PoTC, HM, JC, SM, BTMR. Not sure where we'll do lunch. Dinner @ BRG&BW.
Carriage ride @ POR in the evening.
Thursday
All day @ AK. Rides to do are KS, EE, Dinosaur. Lunch @ Flame Tree BBQ. Dinner at Boma. In the evening we are going to explore AKL and go to the fire side stories.
Friday
Open day. I suspect we will go back to MK. Take a mid-afternoon pool break then go to SoA. Plan to finish up our anniversary @ EP WS.
Saturday :headache:
Head home early AM. Staying @ Cartersville on the way back.
That's the basic plan. I know if we get most of our interests completed or things are just too crowded, we will park hop or go back to the pool. I am taking my UG touring plans. I will try them but no promises.:tilt:
$$$$$$$$
Show me 'da money.
WDW - POR for 6 nights w/park hopper for 5 days and Free dining = $1669.82
2 nights @ Cartersville $118.26
Rental Car $267.84
Gasoline 60 gal.@ $4.50, est. $270.00
Tips for 4 TS, one is buffet, 5th is SoA, tip included $51.00
Tips for Mousekeeping $12.00
Extra $$$ $500.00
Total $2888.92
Having our 10th Anniversary at WDW------------------PRICELESS!!
I've spent around $400.00 on clothes and other items relating to this trip. I will probably spend about another $50 to $100 on snacks, water and sodas for the coolers.

Your DH is going to LOVE the idea of free dining! There is something about men and not having to pay... he's going to love it. My DH experienced this last September (also our anniversary - ours is on the 23rd, so a little later in the month). He was in heaven! He kept asking me "Do we have to pay for this one? Do we have to pay for this one?" Nope! :woohoo:

You should have seen his face when I told him we were eating for free. He said, 'How'd you do that?' I answered, 'DISboards.com.' He originally gave me a little grief over talking about the DIS all the time. He hasn't said one negative thing since it saved us $400 +. :rotfl:

1. You go one day without the DISboards and you break out into a cold sweat.
2. You make a ticker to add to your signature.
3. You see people hiding from you because they've heard enough about WDW.
4. You sing various tunes like Whistle while you work and It's a small world.
5. You test drive all your essential park gear months in advance.
6. You have your suitcase(s) packed 5 months before your departure.
7. You have more HDMH than you have walls to paint.
8. You make a count down calendar.
9. You start practicing your curtsey for the princesses.
10. You start making things to take with you to WDW.
#10 is the subject of this entry.
I couldn't find any lanyards to suit me. I wanted one to clip my world key and fast passes to. So I made 2. 1 for me and 1 for DH. We have enjoyed the PotC movies. With that theme in mind this is what I came up with:
DH's
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/Lanyards006.jpg
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/Lanyards004.jpg

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/Lanyards003.jpg
I was a little worried about what DH would think of it. 'Hey, Mikey, he liked it!' He is more into this trip than I thought he would be at this point.:woohoo: Now these probably cost me more in the long run, but they are custom made!!;)
Just a side note here. My DH had a brain tumor removed 6 years ago. He came through with flying colors. Today we found out it is back.:( He will have to have surgery again followed this time by chemo. This probably won't happen until Oct. or later. It should not interfere with our WDW trip as long as he develops no physical problems. We've been through it before so it's not quite as scary this time. Still very serious though. It will be in the back of our minds from now until it's taken care of. It has been an emotional roller coaster year for us. WDW will be a welcomed respite.

I used it on a trip to the flea market at Shipshewana this past Tuesday. I wore it exactly as you see it in the picture above.
PROS:
1. Lots of room in this bag. You could fit everything and the kitchen sink in it.
2. Comfortable. No rashes or pinch points.
3. Secure. The Zippers are tough. They have padlock loops on them for extra security, if needed. I always buy a bag or purse with a strap long enough so that I can wear it in front of me.
4. Nylon. Easy to clean and water resistant.
5. The bag itself is very light weight. The weight will come from what you put in it. I didn't have much in it on this trip. I will have it a lot fuller @ WDW.
6. I love the key and pen holder in the front interior pocket.
CONS:
1. The strap, IMO, needs to be about 4" longer. As I am 5'6" this wasn't a huge problem. Someone with a longer torso might be uncomfortable wearing it like I do though.
2. The main compartment needs some dividers or some kind of pockets internally to help keep things orderly. I'll probably buy some clear mini totes to put things in.
3. The front interior pocket needs a change pocket and the 'credit card' pockets are very deep. I bought a cute little change purse at the flea market for my change and cards.
That's it. None of the cons would prevent me from buying another one. It is a very handy bag.
And since we are on the subject of reviews, let's talk about my Kamik sandals. I wore them the other day at the flea market also. Walked in them non-stop for 4 hrs.
Pros:
1. Light weight.
2. Good tread.
3. Easy to clean.
4. No pinch points or chafing.
5. Fit me perfectly.
Cons:
Only 1 and it really didn't pertain to me. I have a long, narrow foot, Size
9 1/2. The only thing skinny on me is my feet. God has a good sense of humor, don't you think? These sandals, as I said, fit me perfectly. Mine are a size 10. The straps are adjustable with velcro closures. However, I think anyone with a wide foot would have trouble with comfort on these particular sandals. If you have a wide foot you need to find a wide sandal.
Extra goodies I found!!!
:drive: Another helpful website, especially for anyone who is driving, http://www.floridasturnpike.com/ On this site you can calculate your toll, find construction/traffic info., learn about Sun Pass, and several other useful tidbits.
A great idea I found the other day on this website is for Disney themed envelopes to use for money, ie your kid's money, mousekeeping. They are adorable and the DISer who is providing them can even customize them with a name or whatever. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 I printed some of them up, they are great! And this was a great idea from another DISer. I'm hoping I can just roll it up and secure it with a couple of small bungees or something.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/Preparations/WDWMapsandPacking008.jpg
It's just a cheap 'over the door' shoe organizer. You can put all your toiletries in it and hang it on the back of the bathroom door in the resort room.
Hey, I've only got a couple of months left!!!:scared1: Time is flying like Tink!:tink:
In the tradition of all Disney freaks, I ordered the customized WDW maps the other day. They came on this past Saturday. I love them!

"With these special maps

They tell of a trip
that's perfect for you

So open them now

So picture if you will, DH and I walking out of that famous orange and white, do it yourself handyman store. All I have in my possession is a triple pack of Kleenex tissues and about 40 Mickey Heads!:lmao: It has become, I fear, an addiction. :sad2: When I walk in my feet automatically head to the paint area. Even if I do have a legit. reason for being there. (The Kleenex was right inside the door, I couldn't miss the $2.00 sign. I should have grabbed 2 packs, but then I wouldn't have had room for the MHs.)
No, I've decided that, while I might need some group therapy, it's not stealing. If there was a sign there that said 'Hey, you DISers need to pay!', I would. They are FREE it's not stealing. I will admit that I am taking advantage of the situation!! I am only human. FREE is huge to me.
I'm going to put them on the door for peeps to sign. I made some too!
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/Preparations/FlowersandMH001-1.jpg
I realize my collection is not as huge as some others. However, from now until the day I die, I will be compelled to grab a Mickey Head every time I walk in to HD. Thanks, DIS.
More Disney madness. I contacted 'Peggy's Sweets and More'. I've asked for her Romantic Room Decoration Package. We'll come back from EP and voila, our room will have a brand new look to it. PLUS CAKE!!:cake: Yum!!
I also asked her to send a letter to my DH. It will look like it came from Mickey himself. What the heck! You only live once and I don't know when we'll be back. I'll try to get a picture of his reaction when he gets it. It should arrive the first week of August. I think the title of my TR will be, 'Disney Overkill and the DH That Lived to Talk About It'. I can't wait!!
I made a trip to Wallyworld yesterday and look what I found:
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/Preparations/FlowersandMH003-1.jpg
Remember the Baggallini didn't have enough interior organization. They are actually pencil pouches. I thought these would be perfect to stow stuff in and then throw them in the bag. The lime ones are vinyl and should be water resistant, cool.:thumbsup2 The larger binder type are for storing my Mickey Heads.
Oh and if you can't tell, "I'm getting really excited about this trip now!!!!!":woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
Next: ???

Home Depot for Kleenex?! That is so funny... I always wonder if I should walk through the check-outs with the paint samples in my hand or stuff 'em in my pockets or purse. The later would make people think I'm stealing something (else) and the first would be too obvious (having 20 of the same color).
Which method did you go for? :confused3

I am so sorry about DH. He is in my prayers. I just ended my cancer treatments. I hope he does well with his treatments. Enjoy yourselves at Disney. I know it will be on your mind, but sometimes you maybe having so much fun you will briefly forget about it. Have a great trip. I am enjoying your report.
How was the flea market at Shipshawanna? Did you find any bargains that you could use on your trip? I love that flea market and have never made through the whole thing.
Your pre-trip report is great. You have really good ideas. Thank you for posting.

Eh, I just put them in my purse. I figure if they want to look they can ask. I've got nothing to hide!! It would be pretty sad to be hauled in to jail for stealing MHs.

Thanks for the prayers!
Shipshewanna was OK. The bargains aren't as plentyful as they used to be. I always stock up on Molly's candles, 12 for $36 plus tax. They're in pint jars but they burn forever and smell wonderful.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 We got there at 7:30 AM and were done going through it all by 10:30. The only thing I got for the trip was the change purse. I love the garden stuff, plants and decor. Most of it was just priced too high for me. No offense, but I think if you were from Chicago it would be a real bargain. Not if you are from central or southern Indiana. We also go to the cheese shop - Das Kase House. They make the cheese there and it is very good. The prices are decent too. We usually eat in Middlebury at a diner in town. It's Amish and yummy. Kind of a local place so the prices are good there too. The homemade pies are to die for!!!!;)
Thanks for joining us on my thread!!!!
Hey all!
I'll try to do an update in the next couple of days. My DH and I were both off work for the holiday and we decided to get some home projects done. I've been super busy. Now I'm back to the job until Thurs.

for the following announcement... for station identification... OK just because I feel like it. I know, I know - very unDisney.
I just wanted to show you what I've been up to. In case you hadn't heard, Indiana is getting just a little rain this summer. Last year even the weeds were dying do to the lack of water. This year everything is green and huge. Or waterlogged and mud, depending on where you live. (My prayers to all that have suffered from floods.)
I've been playing with my camera and photobucket.com. Here's some pics of flowers, and a couple of 'critters' from my yard.

I forgot to tell you about the cats. Our dogs were going nuts one day around a part of our deck that we are ripping out. Queenie was digging to China and I couldn't get her to stop.
DH came home and I told him about our 'critter getters' antics. So DH went to investigate. He said he could here kittens under the boards!!:guilty: It was a good thing we were already tearing out that particular area. We had to pull up the boards to get the kittens out. I was afraid if we left them, my faithful companions would have a field day.
There were 4. They were about 4-5 weeks old. 2 females and 2 males. 3 were orange tabbies and 1 was black. DH has been wanting some barn cats. We kept the 2 shown above. Storm is the black male and Ember is the tabby female. The other 2 were adopted by other families. (And just so you know, our barn is insulated and finished on the inside, with heat and A/C. These cats are livin' large.) We had to bottle feed them at first. They did very well, as you can tell. The vet. says they are in great shape.
Well, I guess I can talk and think about more than just Disney. Who knew???

Beautiful gardens! (and the kitties are cute, too)
I can't get anything to grow here, too hot and dry. Plus, I can't get anyone to water things, like we should.
You have 2 months to go, yay! I have an agonizing 154 days left. I know... it goes by fast. But, it's not going fast enough this year.
Can't wait to hear more!

I'm enjoying your PTR. Your planning experiences sound so much like mine. (I could have written some of it).
You are lucky that your DH is into this trip and is willing to help you plan it. I tried to get mine to sit down with me last night to go over what I have down so far and plan our budget. I got a few mns of his attention then got up to go watch TV. I wasn't finished discussing everything with him so I will finish planning it I'm on my own and he'll just have to deal with my decisions. :rolleyes1
And I'll just keep reading your report so I can get excited with someone who understands the joy of planning and the addiction that comes with it. :lmao:
I am not far from Cartersville, GA. I think you'll be happy staying in that area. I have been to the Etowah mounds. The evening tour is very interesting.
A good place to stop for gas is in Tifton, GA. I have found it to have some of the lowest prices along I-75.
We are going for FD the same time you are. Sept. 6-13th and we will be staying at POR. We will will be celebrating my DD's 14th birthday on the 6th.
Your flowers are beautiful and so are your kitties. I also have two. One is black (Princess) and the other is calico. (Pumpkin becasue she has a black triangle above her nose)
May God Bless your husband (and you) for a uneventful and full recovery. May he bless you will a wonderfully memorable vacation.
Looking forward to your next installment...........

The barn contains the reason we live out here in the boonies. CARS. Nothing special. Just junked ones that he says he will restore - someday. When we saw the carlift in the one side of the barn, well just let me say, it's a good thing the house was in good shape! The 'barn' even has a full bath!;)

Thanks for the tip on the gas. I kinda' remember seeing Tifton on my treks before. I was hoping that I wasn't wrong about Cartersville.
What a great B-day your DD will have! We are trying to get a meet and greet together for Sept. 9th or 10th at POR. It would be for all DISers who were interested, but especially the POR peeps. 1gr8mouse and corkery719 are in on it. Keep an eye on the Sept peeps thread by Kroy. I'll PM ya' when we figure it out.

Your welcome. Thanks for joining us.
It really depends on the length of your torso and where you like the bag to rest. The top of the bag starts on me around 13" to 15" below my shoulder. I am about 17" from shoulder to waist. I have a large shelf, if you get my drift. If you are not quite as endowed that might help some. I hope this helps. Thanx for the well wishes, too.:flower3:

Look what she got me while she was there:
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/Preparations/AddressBook003-1.jpg
It's an address book. It will be perfect for my trip as I want to send out post cards to my family and friends. What makes it even more special is the fact that my friend has had a rough time this year also. She lost her 21 yr. old DS in an auto accident earlier this year. He was a huge WDW fan. This trip was a sad one for her. For her to think of me while she was there makes this priceless to me!
And yesterday I spent more money on our trip. Well what I bought will come in handy anywhere, but I don't know if I would have bought it right now if it wasn't for our trip. I bought a portable car GPS. Mio Moov 300. Nothing fancy - no MP3s or Bluetooth- Just something to give me directions with the names of the streets. (I was told that some don't give you the name of the street you need to turn onto.) I ordered it on-line. It should be here is a week. I can't wait to play with it.
I also just hooked up with a great DISfamily for a meet at DHS during our trip.

I grew up in Cali,(til age 15) and went to DL every year with my Mom, That is the reason for our trip to the World, Mom never got to the World, she always wanted to take us there. We are from Iowa now , and will be flying (DB and family will drive, as he will not fly either).:sad2:

I want to make it back some day. DH has never been out there either. There is so much I'd like to do. I wish I had more time and more money.
Thanks for reading my stuff. I guess it's not too boring, then. I appreciate the compliment.
We'll both have DParents there is spirit, won't we. That would be a long drive. :car: I thought ours was bad enough. I bet you are glad to fly!!

We are having lunch with a DISceleb - Glendamax at EP on Monday. That evening We will be meeting up with The4princesses and Wannabe Belle and their family. This is just great. This is going to be the best vacation ever. You just don't know how thrilled I am!!:p :dancer:
An update on my DH, Doug. We went to see his surgeon yesterday morning. (It is past midnight now.) He has 3 small tumors that are regrowths from his previous brain tumor. Surgery is not required. Chemo. is. We will be going to IU Medical Center for a consultation. The type of chemo. will be a pill form called Temodar. It has minimal side affects. We don't know at this point whether radiation will also be required. This definitely took a load off of Doug's shoulders. Now we don't have to worry about coming back from our fabulous vacation and facing surgery and uncertainty.:thumbsup2
Well I was expecting my GPS to arrive yesterday. And wouldn't ya' know, we were gone 3 hrs, back at 1045AM and FedEx had already been here. I have to sign for the package. They will return today. Any other time they don't get here until afternoon.:confused3 :confused3

So happy to hear that DH doesn'y have to have surgery. That news should make your trip a little more relaxing.
I bet you'll have a great time with GlenMax. She sounds like she is a lot of fun. You'll have to take lots of pics and do a report when you get back. Is she going to the DISmeet at POR?
We are down to 7 weeks! :dance3: I've got so much to do between now and when we leave that it will go by fast.

Great news about Doug! I hope everything turns out well for the both of you.
I want to meet GlendaMax! Awww... I'm jealous! She seems like she would be a hoot to be with. Her stories about her Mom just cracked me up!
I just found out yesterday that my sister from Ohio is going to WDW in September. The 22nd-27th, though. I feel pretty bad, because I think she missed out on free dining. Even though I sent her an email waaaay back when it was announced. I also gave her the link to the DIS. Who knows, maybe she'll get hooked, too!

Hey Lydia! Where have you been?? If you told your sis about the dining, that's all you could do. I'm sure if she takes a look at the DIS, she'll realize how great it is and never miss any freebie again!!! Thanks for the well wishes.
Doreen - Yep WDW will be sooooo much better now!!! I don't know if Gmax will have time to do the meet. She is going to be so busy meeting DISpeeps. I'll make sure she knows about it. Tomorrow will be exactly 50 days for us.:woohoo: :woohoo:
:cool1: I got my GPS today. I have to look at the DVD that came with it. I will test it tomorrow to see if it can direct me to work. :rotfl2:

Hey Lydia! Where have you been??
I've been here, watching from a far!! :rotfl: Sad that I can't be there in September for your DIS meet. I would love to have met you!
Can't wait to see the actual trip report and pics now! And don't forget the "food porn"! :woohoo:
And it's pretty hard at the house, sharing the computer with a 15 year old girl! She's out with Dad, as we speak, trying to get her intermediate drivers license! Ahhhhhh! :scared1: She starts band camp Monday and it would be a load off our backs it she can get to and from without us.

Food porn is #1 on my list. I need to practice taking some shots of stuff here at home so I ready to take good pics when I'm @ WDW.

Unfortunately, she's not the one going with me. My older DD is away in college, and she only comes home every other weekend, or so. But, I will start on one soon. Maybe next weekend. Thanks for the encouragement though! :flower3:

I always stock up on Molly's candles, 12 for $36 plus tax. They're in pint jars but they burn forever and smell wonderful.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
I will have to look out for those candles.
[QUOTE]We also go to the cheese shop - Das Kase House. They make the cheese there and it is very good. The prices are decent too.
The cheese is good and I enjoy watching it being made.
We usually eat in Middlebury at a diner in town. It's Amish and yummy. Kind of a local place so the prices are good there too. The homemade pies are to die for!!!!;)
I have ate there. The chicken is great. :goodvibes

You know how a day or two later you look at something you wrote and see it didn't come out the way you meant. By DBF, I didn't mean "Disney Boy Freind", I should have typed DBFF - "Disney Best Freind Forever". I hope I didn't confuse everybody. A DH is enough trouble. I don't need a boy friend too.
Hvn Fun - The candles are towards the sale barn side of the flea market. They are in a building about halfway down the aisle. They will give you a box to put them in if you ask for one. You can also take back the empty jars for $3 off your next purchase. Here's a link: http://www.mollyssoybeancandles.com/ Like I said, at Shipshewana they are only $3 ea. You can mix and match scents. They are sold elsewhere, but usually not at the wholesale price.
HS - I am enjoying your TR. I'm going nuts. I just can't wait. I'm reading as many TRs as I can and getting more and more excited each time. My co-worker says I'll be losing my mind by the time our vacation gets here. He's probably right.:hyper:

Thanks for letting me know about the candles. $3 is a bargain. I really like the way soy candles burn. My daughter lives in Granger, IN. We were just talking about going to Shipshewanna. I'lll have to talk to her and see when we can go. I am running out of summertime. I am a school nurse and we start back Aug. 18th. I will be in Florida Aug. 6th to the 15th. I hope she has a Tues. or Wed. off. Where did my summer go? :)
One more thing. I bought a bag for this trip and then decided it was too big. I followed your tip about shoebuy.com and ordered a Baggelini Messenger bag. Thank you for writing about it.

Sorry about the short summer. I'll fess up - I was hoping it would go fast so MY vacation would hurry up and get here - I's all my fault. :o At least you get to end yours with a big bang! Have a great time. You will be doing a TR, correct??? I gotta know the last minute buzz before I go.
I hope the bag works for you. Glad I could help. It can be worn on your back also. I just prefer, for security, it be in the front of me.

I figured since I saw a reference to me I should at least sign on to your PTR. Glad the news was good about your hubby. You found some great pics of POR I hadn't come accross before. We're staying at it for the first time this trip too.
I'm off to pre-order my photopass CD now. Have you looked into that yet?

I paid off the loan on my car today!!!!:cool1: It's a 2005 Kia sporage. Now I hope it will hold up for at least another 5-6 years. I'm putting new tires on it this week also.
We had a little drama Sunday morning. Doug had a seizure as he was walking into work. He felt it coming on and got down on the ground before it hit him. Of course, they had a ambulance come and get him. I had just gotten off work and been asleep for 15 minutes when I got the call. It was 7:30 AM when I got to the ER. We didn't get out until. 11:45 AM. He's had a couple of seizures before. That was 6 years ago and they happened when he was asleep. He didn't really know what had happened when he came out of them. This time he was awake and conscious of everything that was going on. It scared him.:scared1:
They ran all the usual tests and scans. Nothing unusual showed up. His doctor started changing the anti-seizure meds about 3 weeks ago. Something about compatibility with the upcoming chemo. treatments. So evidently the levels of the meds are causing a little problem. Now he is on a 3rd med. I hope they can get him regulated before WDW.
Next week he should be getting that letter from Mickey!!! Just in time. Something to put a smile on his face. We should be getting stuff from WDW this week also.
I have reconfirmed my car rental and hotel stay at Cartersville.:thumbsup2
We are fast approaching the 1 month mark, boys and girls. Hold on to your shorts. I think this month is gonna fly!!!:teleport:
I think it's time for some SoCo. Catch you later!!!

Congrats!!! I remember when I paid off my first car: I took the final payment to the post office and watched the envelope VERY CAREFULLY as I dropped it in the slot. A man watching me said: "It's gone now". I wanted to say, "I KNOW!!!! THANK YOU JESUS"!!!!!! So congrats!!! What a weight off your shoulders!

Oh, how scary for DH. Thank God it happened now and not during your trip (and like Glenda said, as he was driving). He still has a month to get the meds regulated so hopefully(and I pray), they will work and you can have a carefree vacation.

Doug got his letter from Mickey too!!! He saw it had Disney stuff on it and handed it to me. I said,"It's addressed to you, you open it!" He looked at it and I took a picture. He said, "You are a weirdo!" I said, "No, I'm a DISer and a Focker and proud of it!" :snooty:
I'll post the pics soon!

I know a lot of you probably think that getting stuff from Disney in the mail is no big deal. You have to remember, it's been 19 yrs since I was there last and I didn't even plan anything. Heck my DDad made room reservation. I've been sweatin' it for about a week now. 'When's that evelope going to get here. Maybe it's lost in the mail... maybe they dropped our ressie... maybe I didn't do this right... maybe I should call...etc,etc.'
What a relief when I saw that beautiful blue and white envelope.

I thought it was adorable. I wouldn't mind getting one myself. He still laughs at me and calls me a weirdo for doing it. :confused3 I told him he could ride PotC by himself. And if he can't find me when he disembarks it's probably because I found Capt'n Jack and Capt'n Morgan.;) ;)

Last night my very best friend, L, stayed over at my place with her family. We've been BFF since highschool. They got back from Italy about a year ago. Her DH was in the AF. They now live in Ohio. It's about a 4 hour drive. I've been there a couple of times. This is the first time they've stayed with us. We had a great time. Here are some pics.
She brought some authentic Italian wine. :drinking: L is on the left.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/BFF/FoodCatsandKids026-1.jpg
GOOD STUFF!!
This is her oldest, B. I think she's a future DISer. Look at the braces. Her nails were also lime green.:rotfl:
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/BFF/FoodCatsandKids006-1.jpg
The middle, A. My God Daughter and Future Soccer Champ!
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/BFF/FoodCatsandKids014.jpg
The youngest, C. Future Vet. or zoo keeper. She loves animals.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/BFF/FoodCatsandKids011-2.jpg
They loved the dogs and cats and the neighbors' horses. It was a beautiful day yesterday and today and they loved the countryside, the stars, the peace and quiet. The tree frogs and darkness freaked them a little.
L is the one I will probably be going to WDW with next year. Grown girls only. Much to the shock and disbelief of her family!!! Get over it dudes! We're already talking about it. She is a complete newbie!!! It will be a wild ride, I'm sure!!!

I know it's cheating a little but I think they came out great. It will save me some time because I can go ahead and address and stamp them now. Then all I have to do is write a little note like 'We're at Disney and your not.' They have a lot of great ideas on the site, from notepads to window clings. Some of it is free.
I have a few left over. If anyone would like me to send them one just PM your address to me.

Hey, Kristal! I am so excited, I just needed to tell someone! I got an email (more like a notification of a private message) from a site that rhymes with Tour Guide Ike and it included several discount codes for upcoming dates. So, I emailed my travel agency in the a.m. and asked her if I qualified. Well, I didn't hear back until after dinner. The phone rang and it was one of the lovely people from the agency, telling me that everyone in the office was on the phone at opening time switching everyone over to the new offers - all on their very own!!! Mind you, it only saved me a little over $300, but I can't say enough about this agency!
Last year when free dining was announced, they did the same exact thing. Switched everyone up to free dining, all day long - as long as the resorts were available. And I don't remember reading that anyone was turned away from the resort they wanted. I even upgraded resorts back then.
I know they are sponsors on another big WDW fan site, but if ANYONE books a WDW vacation - use Kingdom Konsultants! You get the same price quotes as the WDW web site, so they do not charge a thing to use them. And they earn every penny of their commission with Disney.
OK, if that's not a commercial, then I don't know what is! :rotfl2:
Whew! :woohoo:

It is a little over 1,000 miles from my front door to WDW. (I'm trying not to think about that too hard.) Actually, the halfway mark would be north of Atlanta. I found what looks to be a 'peach' of a town called Cartersville. The Comfort Inn at this town had good reveiws.
It looks like one of those nice local towns, with beautiful buildings, good food and nice people. The Etowah Indian Mounds are near here also. I think it will be a pleasant stop. And I got a discount on the hotel room through my insurance - $59.13/night, tax included. I booked it for the way back home too.
Next: ADRs and BAD NEWS!
:thumbsup2 You'll only be about 30 minutes from me! Cartersville is a nice little community and definitely recommend staying there. I know where the hotel is and it seems to be pretty safe! There's isn't too much to see right off the interstate, so if you're looking for the grub and for things to look at, you'll need to venture into Cartersville. I'll PM you with my phone number, that way you can call if you need help with anything!
Next we will check in at POR around 5PM.:cool1:
I will try them but no promises.
Next: You Know You've Gone over the Edge When....
Love the itinerary! For such a major trip, you're really doing good with the $$$! Free dining is the BEST! :)

Just a side note here. My DH had a brain tumor removed 6 years ago. He came through with flying colors. Today we found out it is back.:( He will have to have surgery again followed this time by chemo. This probably won't happen until Oct. or later. It should not interfere with our WDW trip as long as he develops no physical problems. We've been through it before so it's not quite as scary this time. Still very serious though. It will be in the back of our minds from now until it's taken care of. It has been an emotional roller coaster year for us. WDW will be a welcomed respite.
Next: My Review of the Baggallini Messenger Bag
:sad2: Poor thing, you've really had a rough year filled with highs and lows...
I have reconfirmed my car rental and hotel stay at Cartersville.
We are fast approaching the 1 month mark, boys and girls. Hold on to your shorts. I think this month is gonna fly!!!:teleport:
I think it's time for some SoCo. Catch you later!!!
Congratulations on paying the car off! I only have um... 4.8 years left before Pixie is all mine  I hope your DH adjusts well to his medication. Make sure you plan lots of down time into that itinerary of yours ;)

Hello!
Well I'm wrapping up my checklists. Ive got just a few more items to buy. Mostly food items. A good friend is house/animal sitting for us so I need to make sure the fridge is stalked. Here's a look at what's going to be in my Baggallin at the parks.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/Preparations/Vacationstuff002-1.jpg
My extra finds - Mini emery boards, snap packs of bug repellent and SPF and some compact drying towels. (Round orange discs at right with a guy on them.) I'll let you know how those work if we use them. It is overkill in my opinion and I may remove a few items on certain days. I do like to be prepared for anything though.
There is always the last minute laundry and beauty things. This next week I have to go get my hair cut and colored too. I simply can't be looking all scruffy at WDW. NO, NO, that just won't do for all the pictures I'm going to get!!! Also got to get to the bank to get my vacation money out. I'm putting half of it on a prepay debit card. The money on that will be for gas, gifts and misc items. Cash will be for tips, carriage ride, and drinks or extra food items. I already have money in envelopes for the Mousekeeping.
Oh, and I don't know if I said this or not earlier. I'm going to my home town to a family owned chocolate shop to buy a few boxes of chocolates. I thought it would be cool to give a box to anyone who goes above and beyond for us. If it happens.:confused3

The blue one is for our overnight stuff in Georgia. I didn't want to carry in the big suitcase for just a one night stay.
I bought this little guy to put on the antenna of the rental. I hope it has an antenna. If not I'll hang it from the mirror.

It looks like your bags are already by the door, ready to go! :drive:
I always pack some zip top sandwich, quart and gallon sized baggies. All of that small stuff can get put in a zip bag. One personal (emery boards, band aids, deodorant, medicines, sun screen...), one cleaning (handiwipes, Shout wipes...). I tuck one of the gallon sized ones in there for the maps, napkins, coasters, menus and misc things I want to keep dry and somewhat flat (maybe for scrapbooking).
Oooooo... it's getting closer! My tummy hurts, I'm so excited for you!

If you didn't order the personalized maps from Disney, I suggest that you do. You won't get them before your trip but they will make nice souvenirs. I was pleasantly surprised when I got mine. They're really nice.
2 weeks! :yay:  :dance3:
I try to go into the parks with as little as possible. my KTTW card, sun glasses, disposable poncho, cameras. I may bring a small bottle of hand sanitizer or wet wipes.
I take afternoon breaks so I put my sun screen on before I leave in the morning, and again later in the day.
I like being mostly hands free. :)
Great trip report BTW. You'll be there a week after me. Have an awesome time!

I've seen them on a couple of sites. I got this one from laughingplace.com. I would not recommend them however. At least not for merchandise. (The site has all kinds of good and fun info.)It took too long to get the things I ordered and the 1st pirate head was broken. They made it right, but I won't ever order fro there again.

No, not all packed quite yet. The overnite is still empty. This stuff is in a spare bedroom. I've got zippies.:thumbsup2 I posted a pick of the little vinyl pen and pencil pouches I'm using to put things in. Those are in the Baggallini.
Don't you dare make yourself sick over my trip. I'm the one that should be sick. I am so ready to go.

No, I didn't make a request except for water veiw. DH likes AB and I like the mansions. It will be a surprise! I'm figuring since it is just the 2 of us, they will put us in the mansions. As long as it is a clean and functioning room, I don't care! At least not on this trip!!

You'll definitely want to keep those drying items... TRUST V! :rotfl:

You are doing great planning out your days.
I have our ADRs planned and on what days we'll do the parks but that's about it. We know what rides and attractions we want to do/see but that's as far a it goes. With having 2 teens and a 5 yr. old, it's hard to plan too much in advance. The teens don't always want to get out of bed and 5 yr. old just doesn't always cooperate for whatever reason.
We will be in some of the same parks on the same days. We will be in HS on Monday, MK on Wednesday, and Epcot on Friday, so we may end up see a lot of each other.
Right now Tuesday is the only day that we don't have anything planned so I'm hoping I can make it to the Meet N Greet at the pool. :cool1: Maybe I can convince my family that we need a day to hang out at the pool. :cool2:

I read about the Baggelini on your pre-trip report and ordered mine. I loved it. I was able to fit two ponchos, my camera and all the rest of the stuff in it.
Your plans sound great and you are going to have a wonderful time. The transportation there is really good. One mistake I made was buying too food and drinks at the grocery store. We were not in out room long enough to eat all of it.

I've learned a lot from other DISers while scouring these boards. Here's my list of DISrules.
You must take lots of pictures. When you think you have enough, take more!
Along with standard pictures you must have food porn!
You must wear some form of Lime Green to identify yourself as a DISer!
Acknowledge your DISer buddies, and embarrass your DH in the process.
Flash your 'special button' shamelessly at CMs.
Help the people with the 'big honkin' strollers'. It only stands to reason that if I can get them on a bus quicker then I get there quicker.
Understand and use FPs. Take them when offered.
Be pleasant and understanding - with bad people and my DH.
You must have a Dole Whip and the School Bread.
You must complete a TR upon return! It will contain the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me Walt!
Well kids, we are in the final few days before the grand adventure. Looks like Doug and I may encounter Fay's ugly sister, Hanna, on the drive down. I've got my ponchos and umbrella. Nothing going to stop us now! Wasn't that a song in the '80s?
Thank you to everyone who has answered any of my questions and to all of you who have ventured with me on my little pre-journey. It's been fun and I hope I can do us proud with a good TR when I get back.
I wish everybody who is going this next week a safe and wonderful trip. To those of you left behind, keep the DIS in good standing with your PTRs and TRs. I'll probably never get caught up when I get back.
Good bye for now!:flower3:

The night before we picked up the rental.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/WDW2008001-1-1.jpg
It's a Nissan. They tried to give me a Pontiac Vibe. I said, 'How is a Pontiac Vibe anything like a Pontiac G6?' They shrugged their shoulders. I said, 'I'm not paying $200+ for a Vibe. What else you got?' Nissan it is.
Could have just taken the old stand-by:
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Hillbilly/motorhoem.jpg
We were afraid someone might put a scratch on it or worse yet, steal it.:lmao:
September 6th, Saturday
According to my schedule, we were supposed to leave at 4:00 AM. I did manage to sleep - a little. At 2:08 AM I couldn't stand it anymore. :tigger: Time to make the cinnamon rolls. You know, Pillsbury, with the orange icing. YUM!
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/WDW2008003-1.jpg
I baked them while I got myself dressed. I decided to let Doug sleep just a little longer. My first mistake of the trip. I thought the smell of the doughboy special would wake him up.
I was busy packing the last minute toiletries and noticed he wasn't moving yet. It was 3:00 AM. :scared1: He must have missed the memo. The big one that said, "Hey, your going to WALT DISNEY WORLD!!!!" It was his job to load the cooler and feed the animals. Plus, he always has to sit on the pot for at least 20 minutes every morning. I know TMI. You know where this is headed though.
So I walk into the bedroom and say, "Get your rump out of that bed. Or am I going alone on this trip!"http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Hillbilly/guntootsmiley.gif
We finally hit the road at 4:20 AM. (Note to self. Doug has no time management skills. Wake him up 20 minutes earlier.) It was 57 deg. F and overcast.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/WDW2008001-2.jpg
This is an antenna topper. The antenna on the rental was too fat. So I hung it from the mirror with fishing line. Very sophisticated.;)
The trip through Indianapolis and the southern part of Indiana was uneventful and gas was in th $3.60 - $3.70 range. It was a gray day. No rain though.
When we got to Tennessee, I thought about the Jack Daniels Distillery. I told Doug that I should have gotten some directions. It would have been a good place to stop. He agreed. About 10 minutes later we see a sign for it with the exit #. Cool! Let's go.
Friends, the sign made it sound like the distillery was real close. It wasn't.
Did we make it to see Jack? You'll have to wait for the next installment:

In our last exerpt, we were exiting I-24 for the Jack Daniels Distillery.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Bottles_3_800x600-1.jpg
Side Note: I have written in my notes that gas is now $3.54/gallon in this part of Tennessee.
Now I will introduce you to the 3rd voice in our car - Emma. She is my Mio Moov, GPS. As Doug is exiting, I enter the address for JD. Guess what Emma says - turn right in 10 miles. Excuse me Emma but that darn distillery has got to be closer than that. Just where the heck is Lynchburg anyhow??!!
I get ready to reach for the atlas when a big sign states that the JD distillery is approximately 22 miles away on SR55. You have got to be kidding me! http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Smileys/pullhair.gif
Of all the low-down, underhanded..... I'm a guessin' that's why they don't let you know up front. No one would ever go if they knew just how far off the beatin' track it is. It's a good thing we were doing good on time!
You know what? Emma got us there. No problems. Here is a picture of the front entrance.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/WDW2008004-1.jpg
It was 11:30 AM and time to munch. I had made some fried chicken strips and we bought KFC cole slaw. We sat in the car and ate before we went in. I know, but we were hungry and there were no picnic tables. It was good.
There was quite a crowd to the left as we walked to the entrance. I thought maybe it was the line for the bathroom. We find out later that I was wrong.
Here is what you are greeted with when you walk in the front door.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/WDW2008014-1.jpghttp://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/WDW2008015-1.jpg

It was beautiful and relaxing. There were lots of displays and history in there. I walked up to the receptionists desk and found out she was psychic. 'Are you here for the tour?' she asked with a very sweet southern accent. I told her we were. She handed me a couple of cards and said our tour, #4, which was on the card, would be leaving in approximately 10 minutes. She invited us to take a look at the displays and enjoy our visit. So we started lurking.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/WDW2008012-1.jpg

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/WDW2008013-1.jpg
They called out our tour and took us into a little room where we all introduced ourselves, kinda neighborly-like. People were from all over - Japan, Bulgaria, Germany, England and the US of course. Our guide was Ginger. Very cute and very southern. We watched a short film and then took a short bus ride up to the top of the distillery. Did you know that 50% of the sales of JD are to Europe?!! England is first. Followed by Germany. I thought that was very interesting.
We started in the Rickyard. This is where they heat treat the wood for the barrells.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/WDW2008018-1.jpg
They snap a picture of the group at this point. It is posted on the Jack Daniels web site for 30 days. You can copy it to your PC for your own use. I thought this was a great idea. Doug and I are in the center. :thumbsup2

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: It was at one time. They have state-of-the-art equipment now. I sure hope so. I'd hate to see this fine concoction go up in flames.
This is the spring that Jack found. BTW - JD was adopted by a neighbor down the road that actually started the whiskey business. He gave it to JD when he was 13 yrs old. And when JD was 16 he registered it with the US. It is the oldest distillery on record. They own all the land around the distillery because they don't want any farm chemicals muckin' up the brew. The 2nd pic is of me, D, and JD in front of the spring.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/WDW2008023-1.jpghttp://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/WDW2008024-1.jpg

They snap a picture of the group at this point. It is posted on the Jack Daniels web site for 30 days. You can copy it to your PC for your own use. I thought this was a great idea. That really is a good idea!

Oooo, it's so pretty!
It was beautiful and relaxing. There were lots of displays and history in there.
It does look relaxing in there! How did it smell? I'm imagining a combination of alcohol and wood, but not too strong. :cloud9:

We watched a short film and then took a short bus ride up to the top of the distillery. Did you know that 50% of the sales of JD are to Europe?!! England is first. Followed by Germany. I thought that was very interesting.
I'm sorry, I found this quite humorous. Did you TAKE the short bus, or was it a short ride in a bus?! :rotfl2:

Day 1, Part 3: Pillsbury and Jack Daniels
On with the tour of the Jack Daniels Distillery.
What we have here is the only original building on the property. It was Jack's office. It still has some of the original furniture inside too. Also, a picture of a barrel house. They store about 30,000 barrels in there while the whiskey ages.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/WDW2008025-1.jpghttp://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/WDW2008022-1.jpg
Now for the actual processing. BTW, Did you know that Lynchburg is in the 'dry' county of Lynchburg. They can't sell any liquor in the county. There is an exception that we will get to in a moment.
First the fermentation of the ingredients. The ferrnenter holds the corn mash. It looks like barf. Like 'I just ate some oatmeal that didn't agree with me' kind of barf. It doesn't smell like barf. More like fresh bread. Yeasty.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/WDW2008028-1.jpghttp://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/WDW2008029-1.jpg
Due to the alcohol fumes, we could not use a flash on the rest of the tour. I definitely didn't want to be the cause of halting the world's supply of JD so some of the pics aren't the best.
The distillation area is where you get to see the JD in it's pure white lightnin' form. You can drink it at this point. Notice the lock. I would guess somebody was sneakin' a taste every so often.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/WDW2008026-1.jpg
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/WDW2008027-1.jpg
Now this next part made me thirsty for some JD. These vats contain 5-6 feet of charcoal. That's what they use to filter the whiskey. It drips from those pipes into the charcoal and it takes a week for it to get through to the holding tank. This process is supposed to make it smoother.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/WDW2008031-1.jpg
Ginger opened this up so we could get our nostrils full of this heavenly scent. It was very potent even in snorted form. We had to exit using about 2 flights of stairs. As I peered into the abyss with a half loopy brain, I was sure I would end up bouncing down those stairs on my behind. I am a cluts extraordinaire when I'm completely sober, let alone when schnockered.
You'll be happy to know I made it. I felt good enough to snap a pic of my sweetie in his second favorite position with a great big happy smile. (He was secretly hoping for my demise as I am worth more dead than alive):lovestruc

I do have some shots of him smilin'. It does happen on rare occasions.
This is what happens to all the surfaces of this place including the plants. It's a black fungus that is a product of the fermentation. It doesn't hurt anything. It was actually pretty on the trees.

The tower of 'Single Barrel'.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/WDW2008033.jpg
What is Single Barrel Jack Daniels? I'm glad you asked. It's JD at it's smoothest. It has been dripped through the charcoal TWICE.
They have a whole room dedicated to this concoction. It's filled with plaques with names of 'celebrities'. You see, you can purchase it by the bottle. Pretty pricey! But that's not how you get your name on the wall. That is for the people that by the barrel. Yes, my friends, you too can buy a barrel of this fine liquid heaven for a mere 9 - 12,000 smackeroos. You get to pick your own barrel from 3 that the Master Distiller has personally picked as top notch. Each one will taste just a little different. You not only get 240 bottles from that barrel, which they will gladly bottle up for you, hand stamped with your barrel #, they also give you the barrel, a certificate of ownership and a plaque on that wall of fame along side some of countries finest crooners. 'Hey Garth, sweetie, can we get us some of that Single Barrel Jack Daniels?' - 'Yeah, the CD just went platinum, get 4.' No wonder they're so happy, they're tanked on JD!
The last part of the tour was through the bottling section and a mini barrell house. The barrell house was too dark. No pictures of it. I did get a shot of Doug with Ginger.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/WDW2008034-1.jpg
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/WDW2008036-1.jpg
Note that the Southern Charm of Ginger brought a smile to Doug's lips. And I forgot to mention, the tour is free!
Now here's the first bit of pixie dust for the trip. Ginger told us that we were there on a very special day. The Master Distiller was in the house. He was signing bottles of JD. Even though it is a dry county, the legislation made an exception for the collectible and commemorative bottles of booze. If you wanted you could buy a bottle or 2 and Mr. Jeff Arnett, 7th Master Distiller for JD, age 41, would sign it for ya'.
The line that was at the left when we came in was for the signing which was a mile and a half inside the building. I ain't jokin'. It was nuts. This apparently is a huge deal in those parts. HUGE! I mean some persons had cases to be signed. This guy was more popular than, don't blast me for this, ELVIS. And he didn't even have to sing.
Doug was in line for, are you ready for this, 1 hour and 15 minutes. This was the longest wait of our entire trip. Not Exp. Everest, Not TSM, Not Space Mountain - An autograph from someone we didn't even know until that moment. Too darn funny if you ask me. This is a pic of the man himself and the $72.00 of booze Doug bought. No barrel this time.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/IMGP1482-1.jpg
There is a bottle in the box as well. You can kinda see the signature on the right side of the bottle.
Mr. Arnett was a very nice guy. I can't imagine having to sign 4 million bottles, boxes, crates, etc. He said he was doing fine when I asked about it.
Well I wanted to go to the town of Lynchburg which was just a block away, but it was around 3:30 PM when we got the bottles signed. I knew we were about 2 hours away from Cartersville. So we hit the road.
You might ask what I did the whole time Doug was in line. I sat on my fanny and drank some fresh lemonade they were handing out. I should have went on to town, but I didn't know how long it was going to take.
A woman from Florida, originally Brooklyn, sat down and chatted with me. I found out all sorts of things about her - building a new home close by, back surgeries, her DH was from Fla., he was on the tour - Just all kinds of stuff. I must have a face that says tell me everything. (This can be a problem at times.) In the end her DH bought a couple of bottles when he got back from his tour. She asked if Doug could take them for him and get them signed since he was still in line. Doug gave me one of those looks, but he did it. They were so happy.
So we waddled on back by the longest mile line, got in the car, and bid old JD a final farewell. It was fun and interesting. The price was right, free. Can't beat that. There is a lot to see and a restaurant. Oh well, maybe next time. We will definitely do it again.
I was getting a kick out of some of the bill boards on our way to Cartersville. I noted a sign that said - Lyon's Den: Adult Food & Fuel Superstore. There sure were a lot of these in Tennesee. Must have some ornery folk in them there hills.
We got to Cartersville. The Comfort Inn was on a very steep hill. If you had a big rig, no way. Not even a camper. You'd get stuck in the dip in the road between it and the drive. It was a typical refurb run by Indians or some other mid east. people. They were very nice.
The room was the usual - 'slap some wallpaper and paint on and it's new' type. The bed was clean and comfortable. All I can say is, those of you that complain about WDW Mousekeeping might want to pass this one up. It was OK for an overnighter though.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/WDW2008038-1.jpg
Doug in his favorite position. (Looks like he's pickin' his nose. Cool.)
We ate at a Cracker Barrell since it was kinda late and we didn't know the area. Doug did add some excitment to the dinner. The waitress gave us our drinks and Doug decided to play the part of that 5 year old of told you about. I don't know what he was doin' but he knocked the whole Coke he ordered over. I haven't moved that fast in 25 years. It would have been all over me if I hadn't. Great D, now the whole establishment is staring. Thanks for making us both look like retards from up north. I think I heard someone say,"Getonouttahere." (Get on out of here - for those of you that don't speak southern.) Good thing there was food around for a distraction.
End of Day 1. I bet you thought 'd never get it done.
Next: Day 2 - Car Alarms, Gators, and POR

It was worth the trek. They said there was a store in town that made furniture out of the barrels when empty, as they only use them once. I wished I could have seen it. Then again, I probably would have bought a rockin' chair. Could you see us drivin to Fla. Clampet style, chair on the roof of the nissan?:lmao:

Yeah. We went on the Miller tour in Milwaukee a few years back. It wasn't nearly as interesting as this one, but they did give you 3 free 12 oz. glasses of beer at the end. Miller, Miller lite and Foster's. Then we spent $150 at there shop. Good racket!

Yes, ma'am. They do have a bakery in town that sells cakes with JD in them. I saw it on the Travel Channel. They looked so yummy!

Here in Indiana you can't buy liquor on Sundays unless you are in a restaurant or a bar that serves food. I think that is just ridiculous. If you live close enough to Illinoise you just go there and get it. :confused3
You can't buy a car on Sunday either. This one doesn't bother me. It gives you a day to go look without being bothered by a salesman.

Wow that is crazy, ya learn something new everyday don't ya? In New York, or at least in the county I live in you used to not be able to buy alcohol before 12 pm on Sundays but they got rid of the law a couple years ago.
