Sunday,Sept. 7th

Ok. Here we go!

Doug and I were awakened by the alarm at around 3ish AM. We were going to stop at Gatorland before we went to WDW. I figured 8 hrs which, if we hit the road by 4ish should put us there about noonish. Got it!?? That was the plan.

I was prettying myself up while Doug did his regular morning dooty. (Get it D-O-O-T-Y.):lmao: :lmao: Thank the Lord there was a door between us. OOOOEEEEE! ZPS has nothin' on the master of bathroom disaster.(Zoo Poop Smell - coined by a DISFocker). I tell him to have some cereal and ask that he start putting stuff in the car while I finish up.
He eats and grabs the overnight bag and the keys to the rental and scoots out the door. In about 2 minutes, I hear a car alarm. Hmmmm??? After an agonizing 2 minutes, it is silenced and I'm thinking 'What ijut is waking up the whole complex?' Yep you guessed it. It was my ijut.

He returns for the cooler. 'Uh, prob. with the alarm?' I inquire. Doug's response, 'Yeah, musta' hit the button on my leg.'

I go back to packing up the toiletries and------ HONK, HONK, HONK!!!! Then a short silence and more HONK, HONK, HONK!!!!!! What in Hades in he doing??!! I'm sure by now I'm going have to put my fighting face on 'cause I'm betting there are some p.o.'d neighbors by now.

I poke my head out the door and see Doug and no one else - shooo. No fights on this morning.

Once again I question, 'It's a high-tech machine, I guess you still haven't got it figured out yet??' 'How was I supposed to know that if you open the trunk without unlocking the car, the alarm goes off.' He says kinda snotty-like. 'OK, OK, settle your rump down. I think you've already woke up enough people today.', I laugh-------- and chuckle------ and snort! which only serves to make him mad. He's so cute when he's mad.

We head back out to I-75 and Atlanta at precisely 4:00AM. YAY!!! I do love it when things are running on schedule. It was cloudy and 68 deg. F.

The drive to Redneckville, I mean Gatorland was pretty uneventful with the exception of 1 wrong turn, thanks Emma, in Atlanta. She told me to keep right and I did. As soon as we stayed right we needed to be left. She did tell me this, just a tad too late. My co-pilot was asleep and no help at all until I screamed at him to deal with Emma while I got us back to I-75. Good thing it was 5AM on a Sunday. Nobody, I mean, nobody around.

Georgia and Florida are the most agonizing states to have to drive through. It seems like forever and ever and ever until you get to Orlando. (Kinda like the beginning of this update.) It SUX!!!

We crossed the Florida state line @9:04 AM. I snapped this at that first big Tourist Stop in Florida.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%202/WDW2008002-1.jpg

We used the facilities and stretched and made a few calls. BTW. This was the first sun we had seen. Things were feeling right!

Just before we got to the turnpike, we stopped at a small town to gas up, for Doug, gas down, and eat.

I didn't see any 'nice' spots for a picnic. There was an empty lot across the road and down a bit. There wasn't any shade so we just stayed in the car and ate some more chicken and cole slaw.

While we were there a truck pulled in. It was pulling a smoker. Ya' know like for BBQin' pigs. The guy got out and went into a Waffle House across the road. I got looking at the smoker and I'll be dipped if it wasn't made up to look like a gator!!!! Too cool! I got a pic.

So we had ourselves some lunch. We hit the turnpike and made a bee-line to Gatorland. We arrived at precisely 12:30 PM. 8 1/2 hours. I'm good!

Their are a couple of photo ops before you even pay! Want to see a very happy Doug? Here he is.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%202/WDW2008004-1.jpg

We hopped up to the admission window. Admission is regular $22.99 for adults. They have a web site: www.gatorland.com (http://www.gatorland.com)
You can purchase tickets at a discount. I had a coupon for $2.50 off. The nice lady asked us if we wanted to ride the train. Well of course - $2.00. Also, at this point they will schedule you for a picture with an alligator. We didn't want this so I don't remember what it cost . Our total for entry with the government tip was $47.90. Then she gave us wrist bands for the train and paperwork so we wouldn't get lost.

Doug is in the throws of pure reptile loving passion. I think I saw his eyes roll back in his head when we entered this sanctuary that only a true 'Crocodile Hunter' worshipper could understand or enjoy.

A ditty from the past:
When I first started dating my DH, I found out he had a peculiar taste in pets. After my first Christmas dinner with his family, he took me to his room. Settle down. This isn't that kind of story. It was in the garage. Yeah, real classy. We walk in and there are 2 huge aquariums. One contains Oscars, fish. That's nice. The other contained>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>
>> a camen. (Small Croc.)
Then I get a glimpse of something running under his bed. I'm thinking it's a cat. WRONG!>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Skunk!
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Smileys/Humor/36_11_1.gif
Uh-huh, a skunk. He told me she was descented. Oh, OK, Not!
And just before he met me he had 2 pythons. Friends let me just say I am not against having pets like this. But HECK NO! Not in this woman's home. Needless to say the only pets he brought to my house were the fish.

Ok, back to the present. When you enter, there's a dock type walkway with swamp water and big gators on each side.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%202/WDW2008007-1.jpg

Then in under a covered area, there's some smaller pools with baby alligators. They were probably around 3-4 ft. long. There's also a food bar. There was a little breeze that felt wonderful.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%202/WDW2008008-1.jpghttp://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%202/WDW2008010-1.jpg
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%202/WDW2008009-1.jpg

The park sprawls out from there on dry land. Lots of exhibits.
We'd missed the gator wrestling. It was an hour until "Jumparoo". So we headed to the train.
I haven't got any pics. from the train. Want to know why? 'Cuz it just wasn't that interesting. If you have little ones that like trains - it's worth the $2. Otherwise skip it. They don't tell you anything you can't find in a flyer and the park isn't that big. I think the ride only lasted about 10 minutes. That's because it was going very slow. Also if you have kids, they have a small watering hole with sprayers and such.

Jumparoo time!!!
A couple of nuts take chickens and make a competition out of seeing who can get the gators to jump the highest to grab the chicken. They ask the audience to whoop it up!

CRAZY! They even have a place where you can feed gators yourself. Of course they make you stand back about 5 ft and throw the chicken at them. That isn't any fun!!

After the show, we went croc hunting.

A big croc. They're saltwater crocodiles. One was named----Morton.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%202/WDW2008023-1.jpg

A Korean croc. I tried to chat with him. He didn't understand a word of English.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%202/WDW2008025-1.jpg

Someone left this nice boat out in the middle a nowhere. I knew we should have taken the truck! Look at me. All sweat and stink!!
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%202/WDW2008027-1.jpghttp://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%202/WDW2008022-1.jpg

I don't know. It's so ugly it's cute.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%202/WDW2008030-1.jpghttp://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%202/WDW2008029-1.jpg

They have an observation tower out in the swamp breeding area. You can watch some alligator lovin'. Yee Haw! Now that's what I come to Florida for!!
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%202/WDW2008028-1.jpg

One big alligator!!!
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%202/WDW2008033-1.jpg

We do have one of these at home. A Sulcotta tortoise. (sp.?) He's not that big. But will be one day. Don't even ask! I was as surprised as you are.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%202/WDW2008034-1.jpghttp://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%202/WDW2008035-1.jpg

Now it's going on 3:30 PM. I ask Doug if he wants to stick around for the next wrestling match. It is really hot today and he says he is ready to get to the resort. I snapped this guy on the way out. Yes he was laughing at us.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%202/WDW2008036-1.jpg

You have to walk through the gift shop to exit. Those darn marketing experts. Doug found a shirt he liked.

We had a good time and it was worth the money. You could stay all day. Really you only need about 3-4 hours. And that's if you want to see the shows.

Off to WDW and POR!!!!
Did we get a room with a view? Did we have to fight a mob upon our arrival? Did we find any bugs in the beds?
?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????

Day 2, Part 3 - Car Alarms, Gators and POR

We say our good byes to Crocville and jump in the car. I ask my electronic guide, Emma, to show us the fairy dusted way!

I think we spent about $3.50 total for the tolls. Just in case anyone wanted to know.

I can't describe how we felt as we passed under that 'welcome' sign. It had been a long time since last we had trekked into this realm of wonder and excitement. Blah, Blah, Blah, I was just watching the signs to make sure we didn't miss a turn.
I didn't get excited until we saw the 'Barney Fife' at the gated entrance. 'The Law' always make me nervous. Brings up all kinds of bad memories. ( Just kidding!) We obviously weren't on the last 'most wanted' poster. He was a nice guy. Jabbered about the weather, hoped we would have a nice stay, etc.

It was 4:00PM. I was happier than a rat on a Cheetoh! Didn't look too busy, I don't think.

Yep, I was so darn excited I didn't get any pictures when I was checking in. I can tell you that the lobby was a tad bit busier than this picture. It was just as beautiful though.

I waited in my first Disney line for about 5 minutes. Elizabeth was polite, professional and to the point but still helpful. Guess what folks. I had a choice between the Magnolia Bend or Alligator Bayou. I didn't think stuff like that was suppose to happen. I was caught completly off guard.

I looked at Doug. He was lookin' at me like Elizabeth had just spoken some foreign language that he couldn't quite get his brain around. "Rustic or fancy, darling". Alright this was my next big mistake. I wanted fancy. I did. I love those mansions. I should have picked and just acted like Doug wasn't there. He chose rustic. CARP!

Now we have a second choice. Holy smokers. Must have been a slow day. Did we want section 24 or 16? Show me Elizabeth. She did.

Allrighty here's where I differ in my opinion from a lot of you, my friends. 16 is closer to the main building and food and stuff. I get that. If you have some rug rats, I see your point. This wasn't my concern. Actually, 24 is closer, just a smigen, to a bus stop. It's in the boonies, quiet-like. Elizabeth stressed that the bayou water views were pool views. No problem. Then she put the pixie dust on the leprechaun - the room that was available in 24 was >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>>
an upstairs, CORNER room. Two windows. SCORE!!!!! At least for me. If I couldn't have my fancy, then this is the next best thing!
Elizabeth handed us a map pointing us in the right direction and gave us all our paperwork and goodies.

We drove to our home away from home. I gave my command - wait right here. I want to check it out first. I entered. The curtains on the 2 windows were open. No funky odor, check 1. No critters or dirt in sheets, check 2. Carpet clean, check 3. No hair in tub or corners of bathroom, check 4. Plenty of towels, TP, and tissues, check 5. Sinks clean, check 6. 1 light out above sink. Who cares. Reminds my of home. Switch on the A/C, final check.
SSSUUUUUWWWEEEEEETTTTT!
OK, DOUG YOU CAN HAUL HER ALL UP NOW!

I did go ahead and spray everything down with some Lysol.

Some pictures of the room.
Doug in his favorite position again. I can't seem to get a picture of a bed without him in it.

It only took us about 5 minutes to get to the food court. It isn't that far, really. The walk was beautiful. It felt good.
The food court was very busy but very efficient. I took pictures of all the supper menus for those of you who are interested I'll put them in the next response so as not to fudge my incredible story line.

I got the fish basket with a slice of cheesecake.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%202/WDW2008051-1.jpg

I thought it was very good. The pasta salad was fresh and light. The fish was cooked well and not greasy. Ya'll have to remember something - I don't live near an ocean or sea. This was better than Long John Silver's, OK. The cheese cake was just, well, I ate it. I guess I've had better.

Doug had a bacon cheesebuger with fries and chocolate cake.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%202/WDW2008047-1.jpg

He isn't much of a critic. He said it was better than McDonalds and hot. The cake was delish.

Overall we give River Mill Food Court - pluto: pluto: pluto: pluto:

5 being the best you can get.
This was our first try on the DDP. It went off without a hitch. The CMs were very nice and answered any question.

We sat at a window overlooking the dock and water. This place is very big. Kinda noisy but you would expect that.

Our bellies happy, we walked on back to the room. I wanted to check out Ol' Man Island.
Some signage.

I wanted to take some pictures of the pool, there was just too many people. I did find the bar. Then a DISer found me!

It was Dogodisney, Doreen. She and her family were going to the pool. We hugged like old friends and chatted for a few and yep I forgot to get a picture. I hoped we would run into each other again. Oh to have more money and more time!!!! I'm glad I got to meet you, Doreen!! Such cute kids and DH!!!

Some pictures of the room from the outside.

The Lobby

Yep, I was so darn excited I didn't get any pictures when I was checking in. I can tell you that the lobby was a tad bit busier than this picture. It was just as beautiful though.

It really is pretty isn't it.

I had a choice between the Magnolia Bend or Alligator Bayou. I didn't think stuff like that was suppose to happen. I was caught completly off guard.

I bet you really were floored that you had so many choices.

Allrighty here's where I differ in my opinion from a lot of you, my friends. 16 is closer to the main building and food and stuff. I get that. If you have some rug rats, I see your point.

I see your point as well.

CORNER room. Two windows. SCORE!!!!!

I did get a corner too. My parents didn't and let me tell you there is a big difference. Besides now you had two window to decorate!

I got the fish basket with a slice of cheesecake.

So that's what the fish looked like. My Mom hated it but I think yours looks darn good.

I did go ahead and spray everything down with some Lysol.

I had to wait until my bags arrived from ME. I think by that time I only did the phone, the coverter and the door knobs.

I can't wait to hear about the parks!:surfweb:

Every time we went out, I kept an eye out for you room but I never saw it. I didn't bother decorating ours because I didn't think anyone would see it. We were definately in the boonies. Great bus stop though. :thumbsup2

I had a choice between the Magnolia Bend or Alligator Bayou.
Say WHAT?!?! :faint:

Allrighty here's where I differ in my opinion from a lot of you, my friends. 16 is closer to the main building and food and stuff. I get that. If you have some rug rats, I see your point. This wasn't my concern. Actually, 24 is closer, just a smigen, to a bus stop. It's in the boonies, quiet-like.
I'm 100% in agreement. I rarely prefer any room siutated near the food stuff. I like the "away from it all" feeling!

Monday - Sept. 8th, 2008 - Our 1st day at the parks!
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/pic-Epcot-e0e3fa.jpg
Epcot Day!!!

We were awakened by the "Big Cheese" himself at 6:30 AM. I've got our clothing laid out. My Baggallini is packed. Just got to pretty myself up.
Doug ate some cereal and I had a granola bar and we were off!
Here we are ready to go. Take note of my hair.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%203/WDW2008001-1.jpghttp://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%203/WDW2008002-1.jpg

We got to the West bus stop at 7:15 AM. A bus had just taken off when we were walking up. Another family was waiting. They asked where we were going. They hadn't seen an Epcot bus yet.

A bus for MK swings in. The family that were waiting got on. I bid them a good day!

A bus for DHS is next. Nope we're going to Epcot.

A bus for MK again. HUM!!!! By this time another family strolled up. Mom, Dad, 3 little tikes. I was watching the dad. He just wouldn't sit still. Pacing back and forth, jack jawing, looking at his watch. I think he needed more caffeine. His kids were angels. Sat still, quiet.

I look at my watch just as another bus was pulling in - 7:35AM. This bus was for AK. Neither of us needed that one. Now I'm starting to wonder if Epcot is even open today!!?? All the buses that were pulling in were empty too!

Another MK bus. Alright, this is just not funny anymore! I walk up to the driver after Mr. Caffeine and crew climb on board. I ask if any buses are running for Epcot because we've been here since 7:15 AM. The driver says, 'The Epcot buses don't start until 7:45 AM. Should be one here shortly.' I say thanks and note that my watch says 7:50 AM.

It finally got there at 8:05 AM. Not a good way to start my vacation. I am not amused or impressed. It's a good thing we had Driver Dave!!! He was from upstate New Jersey or New York. He sounded kinda funny! He told some funny jokes and then did the routine of 'Hey this road doesn't look familiar, folks. I think it might take us just a little longer than I thought to get to Epcot.' It took everything I had not to talk back.
We got to Epcot at 8:25 AM. The standard Icon pics from the front.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%203/WDW2008004-1.jpg

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%203/WDW2008005-1.jpg

Doug and I proceeded to the rope of doom. There was a lot of people bunched up which is deceiving. It wasn't that crowded. Not much of a preshow here. Just some of the characters waving and high fiveing.
I felt bad for a couple in front of us. One of their youngsters just wasn't happy. And this kid had a set of lungs, I kid you not. He and his brother were in a double stroller. The other little guy was fine. But the screamer just wouldn't be appeased. We saw the screamer on his poppa's shoulders later. He had cheered up quite a bit I'm happy to report.

At rope drop everyone got herded like beef to the slaughter. Whichever direction you went you were guided by the CMs. I was using the UG touring plan. Soarin' Fast Passes were first.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%203/WDW2008025-1.jpghttp://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%203/WDW2008024-1.jpg

So we entered the oh so good smelling Land pavilion. What was that smell? It was chickens being roasted up in Sunshine Season's. We wound around the first floor down the stairs to the bottom floor, slapped a few Mickey hands going by SS cafe, over to the FP machines. 1 guy in front of me, in, out, done. SWEET!! Gotta be back in 1 hour.:thumbsup2

Now to Test Track. The place was empty, friends. On the way a CM playing with her balls - don't re-read that, I mean the big plastic ones that they have for sale, stopped us and started chatting. Like I said, I've got one of those faces. She wanted to know where we were from, Happy Anniversary, Did we know about the digital signs that displayed the wait times, Where were we headed, on and on and on. I like nice people. I really do, but lady your holdin' me up from my first day of fun!!!!! I slowly started to walk towards Test Track nodding and agreeing and thanking the whole time when finally she said, 'Oh I don't want to keep......' I was gone with Doug in tow.

Our first ride at WDW. Can I get a YEEHAW!!!!!

Doesn't Doug just look peppy at 7 in the morning? :cheer2: Totally reminded me of my DH every time I made him get up for rope drop.

I loved the energy the staff gives off at rope drop in the land. The waving, the drums, the high fives, they get me every time. This bubble of anticipation, excitement and hope gives me a gurgle-like hiccup of emotion. Or maybe it's heartburn from my poptart earlier and my sprint to soaring. Either way it brings tears to my eyes.

I give up on my hair while I'm there. I just hope the gleam in my eye and the smile on my face distracts from the halo of frizz surrounding my head.

You saw how short I had my hair. I had it cut the day before we left on our trip. Hair is a lost cause when it comes to the heat, humidity, and the rides at Disney. I don't mess with make up there either.

Epcot, continued.

After our spin around Test Track it was only about 9:30AM. We hopped over to Mission Puke, I mean Mission Space. It was too darn early in the morning to temp fate on this ride. We wimped out. Took the easy side. I enjoyed watching Commander Sinise explain how vital our mission was and that we could wimp out even further and head straight to mission control. No thanks. I'm sorry I have no pics. No wait. No time.
Very interesting ride. A "must" in my book. We did go green later in our adventure. You'll have to keep reading if you want to find out if I mean that literally!!!
This is how 'not busy' the park was.

Every once in awhile I would luck out and get a great shot! I would stop and take a picture whenever it struck me. Doug got a little huffy with me on this a couple of times.:confused3

With the Fast Passes in hand we ran on over to Soarin. This is a 'feel good', proud of our land ride. I enjoyed the smells and views. However, this is a ride I would not wait in a huge line for. Great for the children in the family. Everyone should try it at least once. IMO, once is enough. It just didn't do that much for me. Sorry folks, just being honest. Now if they'd give you a gun and let you shoot at some stuff-----oh that's another ride, isn't it??!! Doug said he liked it and would do it again.

Inside the Land above the cafe area.

A little bird reminded me that these used to move. By golly, I do remember that. It is still pretty though!

Note: We had all kinds of people, CMs and guests, congratulate us on our anniversary thanks to the buttons. Most the time we were able to get on the front of the rides too. Those buttons paid off more than once.

10:30 AM. 'Hey sugar lump, how's about we jump on the boats and take a cruise through the gardens?', I asked Doogles. He was game. Nice, slow, relaxing and informational - a good way to ease into lunch. Toward the end of our ride my cell phone rang!
Guess who?????!!!!!!

We were meeting for lunch at Sunshine Seasons. She and her mom were getting ready to ride Soarin. I told her to give me a call when she was getting off. I just caught the back side of her entering Soarin as we exited the boat ride. I knew it'd be about 15 - 20 minutes before she got out.
Doug and I needed a potty break anyways. Good thing they have a place to sit and wait by the restrooms. I waited 10 minutes. I kid you not!

They were just switching all the signage for lunch at SS. Doug and I went on ahead and grabbed some grub while we waited for G-max.
Doogles got the rotisserie chicken with smashed potatoes and carrots. He had a fruit tart for desert.

He said it was very good. The chicken was cooked perfect, moist and well seasoned.

I had the oriental offerings. Sweet and sour chicken and Spicy chicken with stir-fry vegies and noodles. My desert was the Butterfinger pie.

We also got 2 free cookies for our anniversary. They do this for all buttons at SS.

The chinese was good but nothin' exceptional. That pie on the other hand was FEE-NOM-I-NAL!!! Try it! You won't be dissapointed! The cookies were very good also.
Glendamax called as soon as we were back to a table. I told her to look toward the SS and I was standing right there. This extremely tall woman walked around the corner and I jumped and waved like a 4 year old. I gave her and her momma a big hug and told 'em to go get chow first.
This is our picture!

We talked so much it was hard to eat. I loved every minute of it. Glendamax is a hoot and so is her mom. I thought G-max's hair was great. She said she thought the humidity was actually helping to puff hers a bit. My is still slowly deteriorating with each trip outside. I can't say enough about how nice it was to meet someone I had been chatting with for months! Thanks, G-max for meetin' up with us!!! Give your mom a big hug for me!!

2 veery sceery notes on this oh-so-gorgeous pic of me.
1. The hair is a total loss!
2. I look a lot like my Grandmother. OMG! The shear horror of it has kept me up for several nights.

You are not going to believe me, but I didn't think the Bev was all that bad. Doug didn't like it at all.
Doug liked Kinley and Smart. He didn't like Bev, Krest or Fanta.

I thought Smart was the best and Mezzo from Germany the worst. Of course if you spiked 'em with some SoCo or JD - they'd all be great!

This was a nice break for us. All kinds of Coca Cola stuff too.

It's 1:00 PM and our ADR for Coral Reef is at 5:10 PM. So we headed for the World Showcase.
This is always a nice way to spend a day. Taking your time enjoying the street shows and a few beverages with some spirits.

I know it hasn't been that long since we ate, but I wanted to try some School Bread.

Doug can't stand coconut so he got a sweet pretzel, plain.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%203/WDW2008051-1.jpg
Friends, I was told that School Bread was 'to die for'. Not the way I would have described it. Of course it is afternoon and it might have been better in the AM. It was huge, I'll grant you that. It's just that it was mostly, well, bread. OK maybe that is stupid to say but it wasn't that fresh - kinda dry. I'd take a Krispy Kreme over it any day. Any Krispy Kreme! I not saying don't try it. It is big enough to split with somebody, so try away!!! It wasn't awful. Just not what I expected.

Doug's pretzel was excellent! They had one with almonds that looked even better.
There is a covered seating area in the back that has ceiling fans and a breeze. It was very nice. I paid out of pocket for this. The School Bread was $3.29, Pretzel - $2.49, 2 waters - $4. Total with tax - $10.16.

When we were done, we finished our tour of Norway.

It was a good time. To each his own on the food. It's really hard to beat Krispy Kreme on fattening, high carb, no healthy value, yummy goodness.

China is a relaxing spot. The water gardens in front of the pavilion have some shady spots to hide in. We didn't venture inside on this trip.

Doug had the NY Strip, Med Well, with scalloped potatoes and broccolini.

Coral Reef was great! However, it was very noisy. The aquarium was great to look at as we dined. The divers brought signs to the glass with birthday and anniversary wishes. If you are looking for an intimate dinner, this is not the place to come. If you want to see the aquarium and get a great meal, make your ADRs now!
Menu and rating will follow in the next post.

The aquarium definitely makes the place. I didn't really mind the noise. I'd much rather hear children laughing than any other kind of noise.

Do try it if you get a chance! The Grand Marnier slushy hit the spot on the hot/humid day. Very orange, smooth, strong and cool. The way I like my men, except the orange part. My only complaint - It's too small and a bit pricey as I think it was 7 or 8 bucks!!! That goes for about any alcohol laden glass of goodness at the World.

A surprise waiting in our room!
After our dinner, we went back to our room at POR around 7 PM. Here is what greeted us...

There was even rose petals on the floor! Isn't it nice. What's that your saying? Oh, how sweet of Doug? Pft! It was me that arranged this special anni. moment with the help of Peggy's Sweets and More! She did a good job. She must have gotten there before the mousekeeping that morning because there was a bunch of towels and toiletries hanging on the door to the room in a nice big Mickey bag. She also put some lights over the bed. ooo-la-la
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%203/WDW2008106-1.jpg

We had to skidaddle to get to DHS that night. It was extra evening Magic hours. I also had another meet set up with a couple of special ladies and their family.
We grabbed a bus @ the west depot around 7:45 PM. It was only a 10 min. ride ta DHS.

I don't have many pictures from this evening, but I got lots to say, so bare with me.

DHS was stunning at night. You really felt like you were in Hollywood with all the pretty lights. It wasn't that busy???!!! I wonder why?

Doug and me made a bee-line to the Tower of Terror. The sign said 10 minute wait. We walked the winding path up the side of the hill to the front entrance. We entered the room with the TV and Rod Serling's intro. I was beginning to wonder if I had made a mistake.

I have to stop here a minute. You see, I love roller coasters! I cut my teeth on the Beast at King's Island a long, long, long time ago. It is still one of my favorite coasters. On the other hand, I did not like Drop Zone at the island. I nearly cried. I swore I'd never ride it again. Things for me is looking and feeling sceery.

We march on up what looks like the underbelly of this monolith to the elevators. Friends, there wasn't any wait. The bell hop on our elevator was doing his part well. He was very strange. I hope it was an act.

I am not going to spoil it for anyone with a lot of details. But you definitely need to make sure you use the toilet before you hit this ride. I am not lying! I screamed the whole time. It was fun! As the matter of fact, we rode it 2 more times during our stay! Crazy, huh?!

At this point the king of the porcelain throne had to check out the throne room that is close to the exit of the ToT. I should have asked the oh-too-personal question, 'Are ya gonna' do #1 or #2?' I stood across the street on the corner like a good wife does.

I'm guessing it was around 8:30ish when it started to sprinkle a bit. Behind me is the way to Rockin' Roller Coaster, to the left is ToT, and to my right is what must be the exit for fireworks the show. 'Cause all of the sudden, hoards of people was heading straight for me. Add to that the sprinkle is now a downpour. I got out my umbrella that was squirreled away inside me trusty Baggallini. There was a mad dash for cover in every direction. And the throng of boddies just kept coming - and I was still waiting on the POOP king.

You know I probably could have ridden both RnRC and Tot in the amount of time he was taking. At one point I seriously considered calling his cell to see if he was still alive. I am not kidding. I was beginning to wonder if I should send in the Disney poop rescue team. Men and boys were probably risking olfactory burn out on account of Doug. I envisioned bodies strewn about the restroom floor, victims grabbing their noses and throats as they tried to reach the exit. Kids with their eyes rolled back in their heads and frothing at the mouth. There's a loud bear-like sound coming from a lone stall right in the center of the room, the ceiling is crumbling, the pipes are bursting.....

My worrying was for nothing. Just as the rain stopped, out came Doug. He looked tired but at least HE was dry! Good job!

I glance at the wait time for ToT- 30 minutes and climbing about every 5. We haven't got a prayer of getting on RnRC but that's where my meet was so we headed that way and parked ourselves on the wall. The line was 45 minutes and clear out the front. And people just kept coming. It was insane!

After about 5 minutes I noticed that the Fast Pass machines had a return time of 9:45P to 10:45P. HMMMMM???? I told Doug to sit tight. No one was waiting for FP's and a CM was standing there chatting with another visitor. She said the FP machines just came back on-line. SCORE! No wonder there was nobody there. I got the FPs and headed back to Doug. I was so happy!

We had to watch for pink shirts with Piglet on them. Doug pointed out a couple of ladies with pink on just acroos from us. Sure enough, Piglet was on the shirts. I walked over and asked if they were with Sarah. YEP! It was Sarah's mom Kathy(The4Princesses) and 1 of her sisters, Kristine. I found my DISer buddies! Sarah is WannaBeBelle on this site. She was on RnRC with her other sister.
We chatted until Sarah and Hanna got back. Her brother and dad were over near Toy Story Mania. The wait for that ride was 120 minutes.:scared1:

Here's a pic at RnRC.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%203/WDW2008110-1.jpg
Kathy, Hanna, Kristine, Sarah and me.

This family is extraordinary. You see they are from Louisiana and due to the hurricanes they had to get out of there a little earlier than they had planned. Sarah's TR talks all about it. They started their vacation on a rough note. Papa was gonna have to leave them early to get back and repair the roof of their house. They were all in such good spirits despite the turmoil at home. They are a loving and giving bunch. I am so glad I got to meet them. Thanks so much you guys!!!! I had a blast!

We said our goodbyes and Doug and I hopped on the FP line for RnRC. The que for this ride was packed. Lots of teens that must have been local. We looked like cattle all bunched up waiting for the branding iron. I couldn't really hear the intro by Aerosmith. The doors open and the stampede is on. This was the only time during our whole stay that we actually had to wait more than 5 minutes to get on a ride. The line did move fast. This is a fun ride in the dark. It is short though. Definitely get FPs for this if the wait time is more than 20 minutes. It is too short to wait any longer than that.

Woo Wee!! Doug was ready to go. It had been a long and exciting first day. We did stop in a couple of shops on the way out. Doug picked up a Donald baseball hat.($19.99 + tax) I noticed him looking at pins also. Very interesting! Still nothing for me.
At 10:30 the bus back to POR was packed. A recurring theme for all our bus rides from the parks to POR.
We had some cake and hit the sack around midnight! Goodnight to Great day #3!!!!

DHS day!
Forecast - Hot and chance of rain

Wow! I slept like a log. I haven't slept that good in a long while. Do you think it might have something to do with walking around all day from 6 AM to 12 midnight? The phone rang and again it was Mr. Mickey. Where's Stitch?

I did manage to get my windows and door decorated before I hit the hay. Doug thought I was a bit crazy for doing it.

We were up and at 'em and gone at 7:10AM. I had decided that we would snag a snack at the chow hall and then catch a bus at the South Depot.
I got a chocolate croissant.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%204/WDW2008003-1.jpg
Not too shabby. IMO it needed more chocolate.

Doug went for a cheese danish!

He just gave me a funny look when a asked him about it. He was already getting tired of my food critiques and pictures. Suck it up buddy, I ain't even really got started yet!
It would have cost us about $8. We used our snack credits. This free dining plan is better and better.

Wouldn't you know it, as soon as we exited the front entrance of POR, our DHS bus was pulling away. I glance at my watch and it was 7:30 AM. We had to hitch a ride on the next DHS bus at 7:45 AM. Yeah, and while we were waiting an Epcot bus rolled up-go figure! As the matter of fact for the rest of our stay we always saw an Epcot bus before 7:30 AM. I am not amused.

We were at the front entrance, ok not exactly the front, to Disney Hollywood Studios at 8:00 AM. (Do you all wonder why they drop you off a mile and a half away from the entrance? I think the closest we got was at Epcot.)

I was reviewing my plan of attack for the day and looking around when someone asked me if I DISed. It was MichelleVW and her DH. I forgot to take pictures of me and Doug before we left. I was wearing the lime green stuff. We had a nice talk. She and her DH were so cute! I love a surprise DIS meet! It was great talking to them.

They opened up the turnstiles after what seemed like an eternity and the first stampede was on. Don't they know you are not going to get far! Doug and I took our time. He found a comfy spot and I snapped some pictures.

I was too short to get a good view of the opening show. From what I could hear they were having a blast up there.

At rope drop it was every man, woman and varmint for himself. Take no prisoners! And I probably don't have to tell which direction everybody was headed! You would think that there was only one ride - Toy Story Midway Mania! My mission was to grab FPs and hit some other rides first! I had to wait a few minutes in a line of about 10 people. It went alright though.

Mission completed we headed back across the park. (Cue the crickets) It was like a ghost town. UNBELIEVEABLE! Here I had been fretting over tour plans for the last 9 months and this park was empty. I decided at this point, no more tour plans for this trip. We just weren't going to need them. You heard me - I ditched my plans!!! How liberating it felt!:woohoo:

Can't wait to hear how you liked (or disliked?) TSM. Your room was gorgeous for your anniversary! Good job, Kristel! :thumbsup2 I hope Doug appreciated all you went through to have this great vacation... popcorn::

Great update! Your room looked amazing that night. So peaceful and romantic! Sounds like you really struck gold on your evening and morning at DHS (except for the rain at night). Good thing everyone made it out alive from the bathroom after Doug took over, I was getting worried there for a second. :rotfl:

Wow! I slept like a log. I haven't slept that good in a long while. Do you think it might have something to do with walking around all day from 6 AM to 12 midnight?

Mmmmm... :rolleyes1 Let me reflect for a moment on my theory why you slept like a log.

Evidence #1 10th Anniversary trip

Evidence #2 You've gone to the trouble of having your room decorated.

Does anyone else see where I am going with this?

Like I said, we were practically alone.
What is that behind Doug?
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%204/WDW2008008-1.jpg
Why, that is the entrance to Star Tours. No wait. What the heck.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%204/WDW2008009-1.jpghttp://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%204/WDW2008010-1.jpg
I know you aren't going to believe me, but I loved Star Wars. What corn fed, apple pie eatin', true blue American wouldn't? Good guys, in white, bad guys, in black, George laid her out pretty simple. Shootings, stabbings, worlds coming to an end. And a big ugly guy running the show. A bonafied western in the guise of science fiction. The only thing missin' was someone whistle'n "Dixie".

On the other hand, this ride would a been better in the 70's too! It was cute. It wasn't a big thrill. A good way to take a break later on when the heat starts getting to you.

At 9:35 we were in the Backlot Tour line. We found some people here.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%204/WDW2008029-1.jpg
I forgot to mention - notice my hair for this day. Yep, I'm not worrying about it. All tucked up under a cap. Not too flatering. It was a lot more cool though. The cap kept me from squinting which was a plus.

Some audience participants make a movie with some e-ffects at the beginning of the tour. This was very funny!
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%204/WDW2008011-1.jpghttp://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%204/WDW2008012-1.jpg

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%204/WDW2008014-1.jpg

Next they take you on a tram to see some of the props from movies that's just laying around. I mean literally laying around. Like the rejected toys of a board 4 year old. I thought it was kind of depressing.
Ah, the highlight of the tour. They pull you into a canyon where a tanker explodes and a big gush of water heads right for the tram. If you want to get wet, plunk your behind down on the left side of that tram.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%204/WDW2008017-1.jpghttp://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%204/WDW2008018-1.jpg

I enjoyed the end of the tour. It's inside and you can just walk through it at your leisure. It has props, wardrobe and costumes from several movies. It is dark so some of these shots aren't so good.

OK, so I have been to Universal. If you have been there, well, this tour isn't all that. Doug, on the other hand, has never been to US. He thought it was cool. That's all I'm saying.
We were done at 10:10 AM. After a drain the weasel break, I was ready for some shooting action. Look ma no rain and clear skies.

I'm glad we got FPs for it. I wouldn't have waited more than 30 minutes. I'm thinking that's what the wait time was when we got back to it. Remember the night before it was a 120 minute wait. Oh heck no! It was fun and different but not worth that kind of a wait.

ok i'm behind the times...but i'm here now and all caught up...

first off thank you for the links, made it all that more simple to catch up.

Jack Daniels stuff was neat! Cracker Barrell for dinner- YUM.

Gatorland looks neat. This is my kind of road trip, if we ever did one i'd like it to be like this with a few neat stops along the way!

The room location at POR is NOT something I would have picked...too far!

Grand Marnier Slush- my fav!

OK I don't remember liking Coral Reef that much but you made it sound awesome!

can i ask how much the anniversary set up in the room was? i love the idea!

Love your window decorations!

IJ and the jewel.
The clock was striking 10:40 AM. Indiana Jones Super Spectacular Stunt Show was on at 11AM. Friends, we found the crowd. They were all waiting to see our hero Indy. Our seats were on the lower right side of the theater. Actually turned out to be some good seats for the show.
They start out picking audience members to participate in the show. If you are the craziest and loudest, you get picked. OK I can be crazy and loud but I figured this audience wasn't ready for my brilliant acting techniques. Besides I didn't want to leave Doug alone. There were a bunch of sweet mature lady's behind us that were just absolutely thrilled with this show. It was fun listening to them oooo and ahhhh. Here's some pics of the whole thing.

I'm a sucker for goodlooking guys beating on each other. The girl was pretty good too. We did enjoy this show. Lots of action and some laughs. It is very hot in there. And you might as well sit for a while after it ends. The people don't go anywhere fast.

The little jewel.
One Man's Dream
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%204/WDW2008058-1.jpg
This was a nice find. I had heard about it. It's a good way to slow down, get cooled off, and remember a time more innocent. It's full of trivia about Walt and his creations.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%204/WDW2008059-1.jpghttp://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%204/WDW2008060-1.jpg

There was a short movie at the end in this huge theater. We lost the crowd again. The movie has clips of Walt and some of his TV spots from The Wonderful World of Disney. I couldn't help but think of my DDad. Sunday nights were always a special treat for us. So after I wiped my eyes, something got in them, I hear this low buzz sound. At first I thought there was some construction going on next door. When I look to my right, what did I see? Doug, passed out and snoring. So much for his great memories of Walt. How embarrassin'! I'm glad we weren't near anyone. Yeah, I should have left him there. I didn't though.
Despite Doug's critique of One Man's Dream, it is worth a visit if you have time.

Our reservation for the 50's Prime Time Cafe was at 1:10PM. It was 12:50PM when we checked in. No buzzer here, friends. Just wait in the living room and they yell for you. Just like home. I personally think they should add a dinner bell. Doug's mom still has her's in the back yard. She still uses it at family gatherings. No I am not kidding. We all run like hogs to the trough too.
I wasn't hungry until I walked in the joint and smelled the food of momma's kitchen. Isn't it funny how you can forget about eating while you are at those parks? I probably could have lost weight if it weren't for the desserts.
I can't deny that I feel right at home in this establishment. My Grandma still had some of that decor at her place when she passed.

Doesn't that look just scream 'I love you so much for taking my picture'!

Cousin Robert, Bob, was our fine and smart-butt waiter. He was a hit and run kind of jokster. Lots of 1-liners. This place was packed and he never faultered on service.
We started up our culinary adventure with some onion rings. They were $6.38 with tax. I asked Bob if I could pay for them out-of-pocket. Bob said he was indeed smart enough to figure out how to do the bill. I left it in his self-proclaimed capable hands.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%204/WDW2008074-1.jpg
They were a bit greasy but very tasty. The onions were mild and sweet. A perfect start if you ask me.

Bob had Mom russell me up some chicken pot pie and apple cobbler a la ice cream.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%204/WDW2008076-1.jpg

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%204/WDW2008078-1.jpg
This was the fanciest pot pie I have ever eaten! The chicken was tender and the vegies were perfect. It was huge for a lunch serving. The cobbler was as good as my Grandma's. (I hope she isn't looking down on me right now! She'd tar and feather me for that one!)

Up next was Doug's fish sandwich with fries. He had the S'mores for dessert.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%204/WDW2008075-1.jpg

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%204/WDW2008077-1.jpg
"How is it Doug?" I ask. In his usual short winded verbage - 'It's good. Let me eat!' The smores lasted about 2 seconds. He couldn't have eaten them any faster if he had used a straw.

Our total for the grub including the onion rings, 2 drinks and tax was $56.48.
Of course all I had to pay was the onion rings plus a 20% tip. Cousin Bob was fantastic!

Note: Even if I would have paid for the Dining plan, it would have been a deal for me and Doug.

Cousin Bob's antics held up right to the very end as we asked him where the restrooms were. His quick response, "Go back to the front, take 2 rights and catch a bus that says Epcot!"

After our potty break, it was time to head out. I made a brief stop at the front to buy some goodies for some of the kids back home. Cost me $58 for some pens and key chains. Boy howdy!

We didn't have to wait long for a bus and we were back to POR around 3:15PM. You see we, that is, me and some other POR DISers had decided to gather at Ol' Man Island around 4:00PM. A mini-meet!

Doug was tired. Tired = Cranky. I told him to just take a nap until 5PM. Then he could come and join us. He was asleep before I left at 3:45PM!

I parked my carcass at the Muddy Rivers bar at Ol' Man Island and waited for some others to show up. The bartender was very nice and funny. His name was Lee. My first margarita, I neglected to take a picture, was a fruity concoction with lots of tequila. Yeah! It cost me $9.86 with tax. I gave Lee a $1 tip. Double Boy Howdy! A drinking man would go sober if he didn't bring his own stash. (I had a second one, it was a different fruit and cost me about 50 cents more. I was out about $22 on alcohol that afternoon!)

Funny thing, I had told people that I'd be sporting the lime green colors. I also told them to look for a guy with tattoos on his right arm. (Doug) Of course Doug wasn't with me and when Corkery show'd up we moved to a table away from the bar. I hadn't noticed that there was a fella with tattoos at the bar when I left. I guess everybody was thinking that it was Doug being anti-social. Too funny! Good thing he finally showd up. We had a good turn out despite the Halloween party.

It was so much fun talking with everyone. Doug was having a great conversation with Twighlight and gang. He is not a big talker. Something about them got him going. This was a great bunch. I hated to end it at 6PM. We all had other things to do. I did bump into Where'smyGoofy and family in Animal Kingdom later on in the week. A big thanks to every body for taking the time to come. It was the highlight of the trip for me!

At least for lunch. I love the atmosphere and the inter-action with the CMs. Go with the right attitude and you will have a blast. Oh, and the food is pretty good too!

What was great about the meet is that everyone who said they would be there was. We had a thread about it and lots of people told us they had the party to go to but still chatted with us on the thread. It was all very cool!

Boat Ride and Downtown Disney

I had a message when we got back to the room. I needed to go pick up my tickets for the 'Spirit of Aloha Show' from the concierge desk. I talked to Mark and he was a terrific concierge.

Off to Downtown Disney! We took the pontoon. This was a nice way to travel. It was rarely that packed. Very relaxing with the breeze. It stops at POFQ also. Total time to DTD - 15 minutes.

We found the crowds again. You would have thought that there was some major event happening! DTD was absolutely packed. I could not believe it. Doug and I had wanted to get some supper at the Earl of Sandwich. The line was at least a hour long. NUTS! It stayed that way the rest of the night. So we walked and window shopped for a little while hoping things would calm down. Uh, no such luck.
Here's some nighttime shots.

We finally settled for Wolfgang Puck Express for our eats. Even at 9:30PM, this place was still hoppin'. We asked them to bag it so we could eat it at POR.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%207/WDW2008009-1.jpg

The boat ride back ta POR was even better in the dark. I could've fallen asleep it was so peaceful.

Sorry, no pics of food from here. We were so hungry by the time we got back to the room, I guess my mind said 'faget aboud it!'

I got the BBQ beef melt on focaccia bread/pizza dough and a brownie with a diet Coke. In all fairness, my meal had cooled a bit. It probably was better hot. The BBQ was sweet and spicy. It was a huge thing that resembles a folded pizza. The brownie was the best brownie I had ever eaten.
Doug had a roast beef and cheddar thing like mine. He got a chocolate chip cookie and a Coke. He said it was OK. He thought the cookie sucked. He should have gotten the brownie. Lesson here, friends, Mr. Puck does great brownies!!??

This meal would have set us back $35.78. Even though we did not stay there to eat, a chef actually brought us our bag of food. I tipped him $3 which he gladly accepted. This is a counter service place but the wait staff still brings you your chow and drink refills. I would've left a tip if we stayed too.

Here's the menu.

Even with the best brownies you've ever eaten you still only give Wolfgangs a two thumbs up? You'd think the brownie alone would have earned three out of five thumbs.

We were at the bus stop at 7:30AM. The bus showed up 10 minutes later! I could feel a jiggy working it's way into my feet. Isn't this everybody's favorite park?

We got to the park at 8 AM. This is the furthest park from POR. They opened the turnstiles at 8:10 AM. I loved the Halloween theme.

While we were waiting, I struck up a conversation with another person familiar with DIS. Sadly I can't remember her user name. (Curse of the Fockers strikes again!) She was confused by my Enchanted garb. I felt obliged to explain it to her. Don't know if she ever found her way to that site.

It was her daughter's birthday. They came and took her over to the side and handed her a phone. Now I knew what it was about - but I didn't let Doug in on it. I kinda had this feeling......

A wonderful CM was chatting with us. Her name was Berlina. She was a sweetheart. About 10 minutes after the birthday girl got back, they asked us to follow them to the phone for a special message. Ah Hah! My intuition was correct! The CM fella handed Doug the phone and Goofy came on wishing us a Happy Birthday. OOPS! Wait a second, she gave me the wrong number!' is what he said, all in a fluster. OK, that second call was a good one. Mickey and Minnie wished a Happy Anniversary! Doug thought that was just the nuts! He was starting to get used to this pixie dust stuff!

Back to Berlina - She asked us if we had ever heard of 'Pinchy Winchy'? Can't say as we had ever heard of it. She said it was a game she and her family played. Whenever anyone was celebrating something they would snag the victim and put them in a circle. It would have to be someone who didn't know about Pinchy Winchy. Berlina told us that you take a cork and you burn the end of it to make soot. Then you pass it around to everybody who is going to make up the circle. You would rub you forefinger and thumb with the soot off the cork. Then one at a time you give the person in the center of the circle best wishes and you pinch a part of their face saying, "Pinchy Winchy"! Pretty soon everyone is laughing at the 'victim' and they're laughing. They don't even know that their face is full of black soot until they go to a mirror. She got such a kick out of telling us this story. It cracked me up. She said, 'Now you know about Pinchy Winchy. Try it. It's a blast. You can tell everyone that Berlina told you about the Pinchy Winchy game!' I will never forget Pinchy Winchy or Berlina for as long as I live!:tinker:

We couldn't see the opening ceremony but we could hear it. I thought the countdown was awesome!

Doug and I thought we'd stop at the Main Street Bakery first. They weren't open yet! We followed the crowd to the right and Tomorrow land. Fockers look away! Friends I'm not even going to mess with FPs today. No need. The Mickey's Not So Scary Party was the night before and all the CMs said the park would not be busy until after lunch. Let me just say, the skies were not looking too promising either. That may have helped the crowd situation also.

These 2 guys looked lonely and friendly. I decided to flirt. Yep, right in front of Doug. Keeps him on his toes. I couldn't help myself. The guy on my left was wearing Stitch stuff.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%205/WDW2008008-1.jpg
This picture tickles me every time I look at it.

Again, there's no one to be seen. I don't know where they all went. A CM said he needed people to warm up Astro Orbiter - no wait. We figured what the heck and jumped on it. I became 4 years old again. I haven't been on a ride like that in years. It was kinda fun actually - a good start!

It took us longer to get to the loading dock than it did to ride Space Mountain. I forgot how long the que areas is. Jumped right on it.

Doug wanted to try out Indy Speedway. I made him drive while I took pictures. This was a hoot. Doug got mad because he couldn't steer it. I told him I didn't notice anything different from when he normally drives.:rotfl2:
I was laughing so hard, I nearly peed my pants. We tried to pick up a hitchhiker but he saw the way Doug was driving and said, 'No thanks!'

Disappointing Charlotte and Rain!

We was hankerin' for something tasty from the Main St. Bakery. We walked in that general direction. As we were passing by the castle, I noticed 3 lovely ladies and asked Doug to pose with them. What resulted was my favorite picture from the whole trip!
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%205/WDW2008014-2.jpg
They were Cinderella's Kin. The redhead was pretty fresh. She told Doug as we left that he knew where to find her if things didn't work out. Doug had to restrain me. She needed a smack-down. Just teasing you. They were all very funny. It actually brought a smile to Doug's lips.

I got some decent photos of the castle too!

It was definitely open now. I think we waited in line for about 10 minutes. Are you taking note of where the real waits were?? - Always food! Never rides.:sad2:
The Apple Charlotte looked good to us. We split one and used a snack credit. I think it would have cost us almost $4 with the tax.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%205/WDW2008026-1.jpg
It was a good-sized piece. Lots of apples and flaky crust. It needed more cinnamon and sugar. It tasted a bit flat. If you know what I mean.
Doug's mom makes the best apple dumplings this side of the Mississippi. I wouldn't lie! After you've had one of them, well, it ruins you for any other apple dessert. I guess we should have known better and went for the cinnamon roll. I heard actual groans of shear pleasure from people who had chosen this yummy delight.
Don't let this discourage ya from tryin' it out. They had a lot of yummy lookin' breakfast samplings in there - Plus cereal and milk.

Remember I dumped my tour plans, so we was just heading where ever our feet took us. The horror of it all!!!!!:scared1:

All this time, Mother Nature was trying to make up her mind. It would look like rain, then it'd clear up and you'd see blue sky and sun with an immediate increase in the temp. We were getting lucky so far.

No waits for Big Thunder Rail Road or Splash Mountain.

I just love these 2 rides! Especially Splash Mountain. The whole brier rabbit theme is so cute! I'd forgotten just how fun these rides are. We hooped and hollered and laughed. At least I think Doug was doing all that. The main thing is he wasn't asleep.

Here's a look at the crowd level on this here side of the park. It's looking towards Liberty Square.

This is a classic favorite of mine. I could ride this over and over. We only had to wait outside for about 5 minutes. Everyone was so calm. Day people, at least while we were there, were so much friendlier and considerate. I took a couple of tombstone picks. I wasn't close enough to the one with the moving eyes. Dang it!

I got the chicken wrap. It was HUGE! I also got apples and carrot cake.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%205/WDW2008052-1.jpg
It was packed full of chicken, lettuce , tomato, cheese, and some kind of sauce, I think it was ranch. Very good! A real bargain for $7.59. You could have split it with someone.
Doogles had the double bacon cheeseburger with yogurt and fries.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%205/WDW2008051-1.jpg
The burger was a good size and Doogles said it was better than McDonald's. I guess that's saying something. I thought they skimped a little on the fries and they were a bit wimpy for me. His meal would have cost us $7.59 also. Both meals came with a 32 oz. drink. So, we would have paid a little over $20 OOP for this meal.

A pic from where we were sitting.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%205/WDW2008053-1.jpg

This place has lots of room for a sit-down meal. They were a little lax on the cleaning. A lot of food on the floor and we were there before the lunch rush. It was getting busy as we left around 12:30PM.

We give Pecos Bill's - :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Still no rain yet. :thumbsup2

We didn't make it to Peco Bill's this year but loved it last year. They had this peanut butter chocolate mousse desert thing that was to-die-for. The guys in my party loved the pulled pork sandwiches.

Sounds like they have been changing all the menus quite a bit. As far as the changes at HM, I didn't notice. It's only been 19+ years since I was on it. It is and always will be a favorite.

Any additional thoughts on the drive down from Indiana? So you stayed overnight in Tennessee? I was thinking of trying to get to Macon and then stop. Thanks for listing the toll cost.

I'm considering whether to fly or drive. Our trip will be a winter one though. (Jan 2010). We'll have our son with us (will be almost 5 by then). So have to weigh the cost of 3 airline tickets versus the risk of slick roads until we get farther away from wintry weather.

Thanks for the trip report and all the pictures. What is toy story mania?

It was very good. I expected to be dissappointed at least once with the Quick service places. Didn't happen.

We stayed in Georgia at Cartersville, 8 hours from where I am here in Indiana. It is just north of Atlanta. If you go all the way to Macon you'll only be about 4 - 5 hours from WDW. Just remember, Atlanta is a bear to drive around or through during the day, especially during the week. It could add a considerable amount of time to your first day. We drove though it at 5AM. It was Sunday and deserted. A snow storm can put a crimp in your flight plans also.

Toy Story Midway Mania is the newest ride at Disney Hollywood Studios. It takes it's cue from 'Toy Story' and is a shooting gallery that awards you points for hitting targets on a 3-D screen. You are in a moving car that takes you from 1 screen of targets to another. The gun has a pull string trigger. You jerk on it to fire these balls from the gun. Your 5 year old will love it! I don't know how busy it will be come 2010. Right now it is very popular. Waits can get up to 2 hrs very quickly.

That wrap is huge, did you manage it all? :rotfl:

Yes I did. I think Doug ate 1 bite to try it. Boy was I full! If I had had a big breakfast, no way could I have done it.

It is classic, for sure!!! I have it as my screen saver at work. I love it!!!

Remember that the weather man said there would be rain. I was beginning to think they were looking in the wrong direction. It was still a be-a-u-ti-ful day!

The natural path from Pecos Bill's leads you right straight to Pirates of the Caribbean. That rascal Captain Jack was entertaining the people. Please keep an eye on your wallets and rum when you are around this guy!

What can I say about PoTC? It still is one of my favorites. I like the 'Depp' connection. I was a good DISer and didn't bother anyone with my flash while on this ride. It was very tempting to take a couple a pictures though! I didn't want the Popo to run me off. My record is still clean at WDW and I am gonna' keep it that way!

Jungle Cruise - another classic! It hasn't changed much. Everyone knows all the jokes. But if they weren't there, it wouldn't be the same ride.

Look at them skies! Aren't they gorgeous! Keep in mind that I took this shot at nearly 1:00PM.

As we were walking back toward the front of the park, Doug wanted to check out some of the shops. I noticed him gravitating towards the pins whenever he spied any. I was beginning to see a Disney pin monster develop. I am not lying!

When we got to the front, Doug had to do what Doug does best. Uh-huh, it was time to visit the throne room again. So I parked my carcass on a bench just in time to see this.

I don't think you can tell by the pictures but things was getting kinda grey and even dark over yonder! It was now 1:45PM. How quickly things change!

Our timing was perfect. Just as our bus pulled up, all heck broke loose. It was so windy it was pushing the rain sideways. Thunder and lightning was all around. I think I'll call this a pixie dust moment too!

The Boardwalk and Do they cancel the carriage ride if it rains?

We were back at the room around 2:30PM. Our reservations for Big River Grill and Brew Works were for 5:45PM. Here's the exciting part - Nap time!

After brief showers, both inside and outside the room, we got in the car and drove to the Boardwalk. Doug and I walked around a bit and looked in the shops. It was wet but the rain had stopped.

I was tired of waiting on Doug to realize it was our anniversary. I did show it to him and let him do the actual transaction just to make it look good. It set us back $133.13 total. I think that's a pretty fair trade off for 10 years of agon...., oops, I mean MAGIC!;)

It was modern and clean. Holly was our waitress. She told us the Chef's specials and explained everything to us. She was very nice and an excellent server!

I asked Doug if he wanted to try any of the beers. He just wasn't in a drinking mood. He ordered the Chef's Special - Steak Diane with shrimp. It came with asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes.

Doug's steak medallions were cooked to a perfect medium. He said it was the best steak he had ever had. He also loved the potatoes.

I ordered the New York Oscar (bernie's mayo and crab) with shrimp. It came with snow peas and garlic mashed potatoes.

Cost would have been $91.58. Let me tell ya - it would have been worth every penny. Do you see where I'm headed with this? You don't hear too much about this place. I'm telling you right now, you have to go. If I'd known how good it was going be, I would have booked it for our actual anniversary evening. Can you tell I was impressed!?

I probably don't even need to put this up but here it is....
We give it 5 of these :thumbsup2
BRG&BW get's the highest honor I can bestow upon her - The Redneck Seal of Approval
1. I love the Boardwalk
2. I loved the food
3. It wasn't so fancy that you didn't know what you were eating and it was casual.

Now we got a date with a man and his horse. And guess what, it's raining again!
There was a bit of confusion as to whether or not the carriage ride would happen. I went to the concierge and asked about it. She said if they canceled, they wouldn't do it until about 15 minutes before it was to commence. ???????? OK and how will I know, will they call me? NO. So am I just supposed to hang around and see if he shows up? She gave me a number to call. Hmmmm. Alrighty then.
You see I had sent Doug back to our room with the car thinking it was probably canceled. I went outside and the rain had stopped again. I figured unless it was a nasty storm like earlier, the ride would go on. I gave Doug a call and he walked back to the main lobby.

Sure enough in about 15 minutes along come Steve and Dan. Dan was the horse.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%205/WDW2008108-1.jpg

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%205/WDW2008107-1.jpg

This was a pleasant way to end an evening. Steve asked if we'd rather go around the river or POR. We chose the river. It was so peaceful after the rain. Just beautiful with the lights reflecting off the wet surfaces and river. It was also very romantic. I felt my heart flutter. Not because of Doug. Those mansions! Oh how I long to stay there. They are stunning at night.

One funny little ditty. Dan, the horse, is pretty set in his ways. Especially when it comes to potty time. Kinda like Doug. We had to pull off in some grassy area so he could, uh, you know, like a race horse. Steve said a couple later on would be blessed with the big dump! I'm glad we rode when we did.

It cost $35. Which I'm sure has been raised by now. Plus I gave Dan a $5 tip.
I'd like to end every day like this, but I couldn't afford it.

End of Day 5!

I knew that watch had to be mine when I first laid eyes on it. It's unique. Not the typical Mickey. It does have a pinkinsh tone to it also which I liked.

Animal Kingdom Day

Forecast: What else, Hot and Rain.

This was the day I and Doug had been waiting for! Up and at um' again at 6AM. Still no Stitch. Doug always answered. Today it was some kind of music he said.
We had a quick snack in the room. I ran up to the main lobby and dropped off some 'Wish you was here' cards. POR sure is quiet at that time of the morning. We were at the West bus stop by 7:30AM. Guess what? The AK bus was there lickety split. Only one other couple was on it!

We arrived at the park at 8:05 AM. Again it is quite a walk to the entrance.

We had ourselves a seat and watched as families that were going to eat breakfast filed into the park. Some folks started to line up. I was over trying to be the first one in the park. ( If you are a Focker buddy go to the next paragraph or you might faint!)As the matter of fact, this was the first day I really, really felt like I was on vacation. I think there's just this switch in you that finally clicks. You are so used to timelines, and go, go, go, gotta do this and gotta do that. It just took me a bit to adjust to this don't gotta nothing, you know what I'm saying? We had such good luck with the crowds and our timing, I just had a mind to say 'who cares'? today.

They asked a family to open the park. It was cute. I guess that's why you want to stand up by the turnstiles. The rope drop was also cute with Minnie, Goofy, and Pluto.

We had an hour before our FPs would come around. Next we were going on safari! I snapped some pics along the way.

I thought this was the most beautiful park I had ever been in. Even most zoos can't hold a candle to AK. It most certainly takes you away from the every day hub bub.
We were on Kilimanjaro Safaris at 9:36AM. We had only waited 5-7 minutes in line.:thumbsup2 I, like a true idiot, sat to the inside again. These photos were taken by Doug. In his defense, our CM guide never stopped the big honkin' safari mobile once, NOT ONCE. Getting a good shot was tough. Plus I usually do the photos so he didn't get much practice with my camera.

Holy Smokers - That thing just moved!

After successfully tracking down the smugglers while on the safari, which took us approximately 25 minutes, we decided to head back towards EE. We took our time and explored a bit.
While back in the village of Harambi, Doug was sucked into the void of this small stand.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%206/WDW2008037-1.jpg
One minute he was right next to me and the next he had veered off like some huge magnet had been turned on and was pulling some invisible steel that was tucked away in his shorts! I think it was his wallet. More pins! Dang, he's becoming quite the little Disney pin monster. You know how expensive some of those itty bitty pins are? They add up quick, I tell you what! He was especially interested in Goofy and Donald Duck. I wandered over and pretended I knew something about drums.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%206/WDW2008038-1.jpg

It was at this point in our wandering that I had noticed a certain 'character' hanging around the area. My keen observation would prove even more curious in a couple of hours. Hmmmm.

As we were walking the path back to EE, there was a child and a couple of other people standing in the middle looking at something to the right.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%206/WDW2008039-1.jpg
Doug is clueless at what I'm seeing. I said, 'Do you see her?' He takes a look in the direction I am pointed at and says, 'Huh?'.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%206/WDW2008041-1.jpg
I gave it a few more seconds as she started to move, slowly, kind of like a snake, very subtle-like. We all were entranced. Yep, that plant is alive.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%206/WDW2008042-1.jpg
It was too funny, because a lot of people had no clue and just walked on by. They must have thought we were all nuts. I felt sorry for them.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%206/WDW2008043-1.jpg
It was a hoot watching the kids as she snaked across the path to the other side. Mouths open, eyes wide. I hadn't told Doug about Devine. I didn't think we would be lucky enough to catch her performance. It was beautiful the way she worked her magic on all of us.

That was one sight I will never forget!

We were back on EE at around 10:15AM. I don't believe the standby was all that long. We used our FPs. It was even better the second time around!
EE is in the background here.

Yeah, I'm ready, bring it on!
This was my kinda ride! Dark, things jumping out at you, the world coming to the end - ARMEGEDDON!!!! Woo-wee! Oh yeah and did I tell you there was no wait. We should have ridden it again! But our bellies were growling.

The minute I told Doug about Flame Tree BBQ, he was hooked. It was just up around the bend from where we were. Of course we had to visit Dinoflush first.

You know it occurred to me that they are missing a great opportunity here. Think about how many people stand around waiting on their partners at this point. They should put up some beer troughs or mini canteens near every toilet. I'm just sayin'.:rolleyes1

Flame Tree BBQ
Doug got the Pulled Pork Sandwich. It came with baked beans. $7.59 for OOP.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%206/WDW2008054-1.jpg
He said it was very good. I was impressed with the amount of meat on it.

I got some ribs!! Yes sir, let's see if these folks know what they are doing. It came with baked beans and a corn muffin. $10.49 if OOP.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%206/WDW2008055-1.jpg
Let me just say, I've had a lot a BBQ in my day. I have some friends that know how to cook up some mighty fine hog!! So I am a wee bit particular when it comes to ribs! The sauce was excellent-smokey and sweet- which I like. There was plenty of meat but it was a bit on the dry and tough side. The baked beans needed some more soaking as the were a tad hard yet. Excellent flavor though. The corn muffin - PFT! Just bland and dry. I am being completely honest here folks. If you know your BBQ (ie, Texas, Kentucky, Trailer Park, etc.) - get the sandwich and skip the ribs.
We also ordered some onion rings which we did pay for OOP - $4.04 with the tax. No pic of them. 50's PTC's were better but they weren't bad.

For dessert we both got the key lime pie. $3.59 if OOP.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%206/WDW2008056-1.jpg
I am not a fan of key lime pie. I didn't want the chocolate cake. I know, I'm a strange female. You aren't the first to tell me. This pie was #1 in my book. Creamy and cool, a perfect ending to the BBQ.
We would have spent around $33 total OOP. Again there was enough food on my plate to feed 2. I was stuffed.

I am going to say that the seating areas down by the water are the best place to eat your food. If you can ignore the birds. They never bothered us. Do not feed them! Ya'll hear me! Here some of the views.

The Trail and The Stranger At Harambi

After our lunch, we decided it was time to walk some of it off. As we were headed to Pangani Trail look who I found...
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%206/WDW2008062-1.jpg
Unfortunately the CM moved a bit. I should of had her take 2. Stitch was so cute. I showed him a pin I had stuck on my hat. It was of him, of course. He did a little jiggy and clapped his hands. I asked him if he liked BBQ. He jumped up and down and nodded his head. I told him we liked Flame Tree and he waved his hands and pointed to himself which I guess meant he did too. Then he grabbed my arm and waved goodbye to Doug as we strolled off. It was so funny. He had everybody in 'stitches'.:rotfl2: Yeah, I know that was bad.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%206/WDW2008063-1.jpg
This is just before the bridge to Harambi. As we walked by Tusker House, I noticed that strange character again. Hmmmm????? I'll get back to him in a minute.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%206/WDW2008065-1.jpg
You know, I never read the sign until now. Yep, I can read! Ya smart alecs! I guess there are a few rules to follow. Now I see that I didn't do anything to call the Popo out for. Shoo!
It was around 1:15PM and there wasn't too many people back here.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%206/WDW2008067-1.jpghttp://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%206/WDW2008069-1.jpg

There are lots of CMs around the exhibits. You can ask them anything you want to know. Some of them have some great stories.

They were just feeding the gorillas. We got to see 2 females and 1 big male close up.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%206/WDW2008072-1.jpghttp://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%206/WDW2008075-1.jpg

This was fascinating. The CM said some of the younger males are fun to watch as they like to pick on each other. She said they are just like a bunch of teenagers showing off. We did catch a glimpse of them later horseing around but they were moving too fast and they were too far off to get any good pictures. They were playing what I would call 'tag', only their tag was one heck of a swat!
Here's a part of the ruins that is back by the tigers in the Maharaja trek.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%206/WDW2008087-1.jpg
We did get to see the tigers. They are beautiful creatures. I couldn't get a good shot of them, dang it!
Pangani Forest Trail and Maharaja are very nice. There are some exhibits inside these little shacks along the paths. There's also places to just sit fur a spell if you need to.
We marched on back to Harambi so Doug could do the do-do again.:sad2: And there he was - again. This guy.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%206/WDW2008081-1.jpg
He must be some of Indy's kin. All I can tell you is he was here for at least 4 hrs. I'm not kidding! I have no clue what he was doing. The whole time I sat there, which you know by now was considerable, I never once saw anyone approach him. I was thinking he might be a tour guide CM, or a photographer dressed like that. I mean the dude looked serious. Maybe he was just a big fan of AK or Indy J.:confused: I guess I should have just taken my carcass over there and asked. Has anyone else seen him???

Hidden Paths and My Favorite Disney Resort

lazydoxy66
12-18-2008, 02:15 AM
Hidden Paths and My Favorite Disney Resort or Kristel is talkin' and she can't shut up!

We were waiting on the Doug, who had gone to the outhouse in Harambi. I also was watching the kids playing in the fountain across the way.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%206/WDW2008085-1.jpg
That darn water wouldn't stay put for them. They were laughing and shouting and just having a ball. That's what I call cheap entertainment. Just add water and you get yourself a major amusement attraction.

Doug and me found this path. I can't tell you exactly where we stumbled on to it. I can tell you that it leads to the back side of the bug show under the "Tree".
It was very hot and humid by this time, 2 PM, and I was just looking to get out of the sun. There was a cool breeze because the path ran along the river. There was even some benches where you could sit and take a load off. I found a bench right down on the water, all secluded-like. I was thinking it was kind of romantic and all. I tried to get Doug, the love of my life, to come and sit down. I was denied! Doug spotted some birds and forgot all about me. Hmf! Big deal, so they talked! At least one of the parrots showed some interest in me. He whistled and said "Hi!" Maybe I should have brought him back to the bench with me!
There was a very nice CM passing through that chatted with us for a while. She said the parrots were ornery. They get out of there area and wander. The park has to send out a search party for them. Sorry I don't have any pictures of the birds, there was also a tortoise. My battery was about dead and we still had to eat dinner. I just have to get that food porn! I did manage to get some close ups of the tree.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%206/WDW2008092-1.jpg

Alrighty then this wraps up our visit to Animal Kingdom. Doug said he didn't want to do the stinky bug show so we headed to Animal Kingdom Lodge. We had an ADR at Boma for 6 PM. We got to the resort around 3:30 PM.

Well this place knocked my socks off! I so wished that my battery wasn't giving out on the camera. But one thing is certain - no pictures truely capture just how awesome this place is. I love this resort. I don't know how long my jaw was on the floor. The lobby is huge with all kinds of comfy couches and chairs. 'Stately' in appearance but so comfy. At the back you can look out on the 'Sahara' ur 'Serengeti' ur whatever it was. There's animals and birds running around all over the place. I took a picture of one of the room balconies.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%206/WDW2008093-1.jpg

When we were headed back into the lodge, I noticed these 2 towers on each side of the back entrance. Well I'm nosy and there wasn't any signs so I went inside 1 of them. The spiral stairs lead to a huge balcony with rocking chairs. Oh my granny would have been tickled to see the rockers. You could have a seat and look out over the plains. It was covered but open. Very, very cool!

I hollered at Doug and showed him the rockers then I decided to make a phone call. I sat down by the fire pit. 2 things happened. First as I was trying to talk to my housesitter/furbaby sitter/friend, a dude started up a blower to clean off some of the leaves and brush. OK, figures. He saw me and moved off. Very nice of him. Then.............................................. ...................
Rain! Yep! They said it was gonna rain. It finally did. I knew Doug was happy and safe up on that balcony so I just slipped inside the back door and finished up my conversation with my friend.

Doug said he wanted to do some browsing. We looked through the shop. He looked at more pins. We went ahead and found Boma so we'd know where it was later. Then we happened on a bar just above Boma. Guess what friends, a beer was only $4.50. Give me 2 please. I was happy as a pig in slop! Doug passed on the alcohol. We sat on a very comfy leather couch. It was so quiet and peaceful. We were practically alone. Those beers hit the spot. I could have taken a nap. I didn't think that would look too good though. I do want to stay here one day in the near future. I had to leave them a good impression.

Boma: I am buffet, hear me belch!

We checked in at 5:45 PM and was handed a buzzer. This place was packed tighter than my Aunt Lauralynn's 44DD, 18 hour bra. Doug and I found a bench between the double doors next to the restaurant entrance. At 6 PM on the nose we were seated.

Allison was our super waitress. She explained everything and wished us Happy Anniversary. Then one of the hostesses brought us something special.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Misc%20WDW%2008/WDW2008lll007.jpg
It was signed by all the hostesses in their native language. I thought that this was very nice of them. I did not mention anything about our anniversary. They just saw the buttons. Sometimes I think if you don't say something you get more than if you did say something. Reverse psychology, you know what I'm saying?

Allison told us to dig in. She didn't have to say it twice. I took pictures of round 1.

Doug said the prime rib was excellent. He also liked the fish and couscous.

I was blown away by the peanut butter rice! Y'all heard me. I'd never had such a concoction. I love me some PB & J. Never would have thought of putting it in rice. It was so scrumdillyishous. I had chicken and sausage and watercress salad. I didn't find one thing that I didn't like.

Allison kept coming over to check on us. She wanted us to make sure we told her when we were ready for dessert. They were fixing us something up special in the back.

After about 3 rounds at the buffet, we gave Allison the sign!
Looky what they did for us!
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%206/WDW2008096-1.jpg
The little domes were hard chocolate with yellow cake inside. They were so good. Of course I did try some other desserts from the buffet. It was all good!

This meal would have cost me and Doug $60 with tax. This is the first time I have ever left a 15% tip for the server at a buffet. Allison was excellent and so friendly.

Boma's rating: :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

It was worth $60. Doug and I are adventurous when it comes to food. This was so different from our norm. Lots of different herbs and combination of flavors. There was 'normal' stuff too like chicken nuggets and mac and cheese. If you like to try new things, this should be a definite must on your ADRs. Plus, did I mention that AKL is gor-ge-us!

We were going to stay for the fireside stories but alas Doug was tired. We hopped a bus back to AK and then hopped another to POR.

This is the end to our best day of the trip!

WOW!! You were busy yesterday!! Sounds like a great, relaxing day at AK and AKL!!

We stayed at AKL in 05 and it was sooooo nice!! DH was a little put off by some of the animals, ummmmm how should I say this, getting their groove on outside our window and kept closing the curtains saying it "isn't child appropirate!" :lmao:

We'll definitely stay there again! We may have to have the birds and bees talk with the kiddos first!!

Boma is so on me and Jim's list of things to do, but we are going to wait until Jimmy is a little older!

Wow so many updates yesterday I don't know where to start!

Your day at AK looks like it was so much fun. I crack up everytime you give a Doug toilet update because I just KNOW my BF is going to be the same way when we go:laughing: There should definitely be some kind of frozen drink/beer stand there for people waiting, I second your motion. lol

Boma sounds and looked soooo delish! idk if I'm adventurous enough to try different foods like that but after looking at your pics and hearing you rave about it, I'll have to add it to my list of restaurants to hit. And I soo wish I could stay at AKL, it looks so amazing!

Love the comment about the 18 hour bra!

I guess I know where you want to stay next time.

Wow Kristel you've been busy :rotfl:

Great updates and great photos, it looks like you were really lucky with low crowds at AK :goodvibes

How sweet of Boma to do the special desserts for you!

well someone was up late updating , making the rest of us look bad;) !

Sounds like a great day at AK, I have yet to see Divine! And for the record Boma is my favorite meal in WDW!

Jo and Kat - Sorry if I made anyone look bad. I was bored at work. I just had to copy paste from the Enchanted site. I can see us doing Boma again!

Yeah, I'd wait. There is not a lot for the kiddos there. Chicken nuggets and mac and cheese. And dessert.

I am so serious about getting on some rides instead of waiting on him. I know I can beat him. We'll put it to the test the next time we go!

Our 10th Anniversary

Forecast: Same old, same old!

Mickey woke us up again. If that don't just beat all. Most of you complain about getting Stitch all the time on the wake-up call-a-ma-jigs. We didn't hear him once. I am beside myself with disgruntlement.

This day is a 'free day'. A 'do what ya want to' day. A 'do what you didn't get to do' day. A 'burn up them snack credits' day!

Doug wanted to go back ta DTD. Okey, dokey! So I looked on the WDW info. channel and it said the boat would leave for DTD at 10 AM. That is what I read. I swear.

We headed to the food court and grabbed some breakfast.
We both settled for French Toast with scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage. Plus I had to have one of the cinnamon rolls that had been calling my name since we stepped foot on the property. Doug followed suit. I paid OOP for the rolls - They were $5.52 with the tax.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%207/WDW2008003-1.jpg
It was a good and light breakfast. The eggs are the powdered kind, which I don't much care for, but they were OK. The roll was very good. I'd still take a Krispy Kreme over it though.

I believe this would have cost me around.........$20. I forgot to take some pics of the menu boards for breakfast. I can tell you that the selection was sum-what slim on choices and POFQ had more to offer. More on that in a few.

It was only around 8:30 AM. I wanted to take a walk along the river to POFQ. Doug was game. I took some pictures along the way.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%207/WDW2008004-1.jpg

I love the look of it all. I could have plopped down on a bench and just sat there all day along that river. That is if it weren't getting so dat-blamed hot. We had a nice walk and went to the Sassagoula food court. Guess what I got? I'll give you a hint. I used 1 snack credit. Oh come on! POFQ is famous for 'em. Everybody talks about 'em.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>beignets!
I thought I would try a bite and save the rest for later. As we was waitig for them, I started looking at all the menus. It looked to me like they had a bit more on their menus for breakfast. This place was packed too! Crazy packed!
I got my beignets and away we went.

For those of you who haven't heard of the beignet, I pronounce them b - long a - ny -aes, they area deep fried little 3" pastry puff sprinkled with powdered sugar. They are wonderful while hot! Not so much when cold or nuked. :sad2:
We dropped the pastries off at the room and went back to the boat. The captain said he was only going to POFQ. He would start going ta DTD at 11 AM.:confused3 Either my eyes needed checked or the WDW info needed updated. We headed to the bus.

HUGE, HUGE crowd waiting at the South Depot. The DTD bus was there quick. It was packed because you see it drops off at Typhoon Lagoon also. Doug and I stood until after the TL drop-off. We got to DTD at 11 AM.

It was a long morning and we hadn't even gotten started yet!

Doug headed to his place of regalness while I sat outside of Once Upon a Toy store and snapped some photos of the kids playing in the fountains, again.

We window shopped. I think Doug got himself a couple more pins and a lanyard. We knew we wanted to use up some of the snack credits at the Goofy Candy store, but first we had lunch at ........... Ghirardelli's. Yep, you heard me right. We were going have a big supper so we had a dessert lunch. Cool huh!??

We placed our order up front and picked out a table by the window to sit at. Doug put in another star performance as a man with no balance as he almost tipped the little table over when he leaned on it to sit down. It made a huge bang when it came back down to the floor. It scared the people next to us half to death. They looked like we'd shot them. They were checking for blood - I am not lying!

I got the Peanut Butter Fudge Sundae
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%207/WDW2008018-1.jpg

Doug got a plain old Chocolate Malt. He couldn't live large if I gave him a book on the subject!
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%207/WDW2008017-1.jpg
There was a couple of little sparrows flitting about on the floor. They knew what good chocolate was. They weren't hurting anyone. See the guy at the left in the next picture.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%207/WDW2008015-1.jpg
He brought us our sundaes and he doesn't like birds. Here he comes - broom in hand. Mind you, it's me and Doug, the couple that had just recovered from the heart attack Doug gave them, the girl you see to the right and another couple to the left. I can pretty much reach out and touch all of them, that's how close we were to one another. And Mr. Nutsobroom has a look of determination on his face.

I covered my sundae because I knew what was coming. This was going to be fun - not! He started swatting at the birds. The birds was trying to escape out of the glass windows. Flying like crazy in and around and under and over. They would perch overhead, and I am not kidding, this maniac would swing at them right above us. I was just about to blow my gasket when he stopped. Basically the birds had knocked themselves silly trying to bust out the windows and were hiding under our feet. I was secretly cheering for the birds and was happy they had survived Mr. Nutsobroom. Our sundaes survived also. They tasted so good. Man would I had been PO'd if he'd knocked over my luscious snack!! We paid a total of $14.32 for the 2 sundaes. Mine was $7.95, Doug's was $5.50. I think I got some pics of the menu. I'll put them in the next post.

Now to Goofy's place.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%207/WDW2008021-1.jpg

Doug got the make your own pretzel rods and marshmallows. I got the Oreo cookie. Alas I have no photos. I do have a photo of one of the order sheets you fill out.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Misc%20WDW%2008/WDW2008lll006.jpg
It takes them quite a while to create these things. You can go shopping and come back to get them. I just wouldn't leave until your sheet gets picked up. There is no real order to the way they do it. I made sure they made mine before the next person's. We still had 2 snack credits after we were done here. I told Doug we could use them for pops later. (Sodas to all you Yanks.)

We also picked up some shirts that were on sale at the Rainforest Cafe. They were 2 for $24.99. When we got to the register if you had spent over $20 you could get a shirt for $7.99. This was a steal at WDW. I never saw any shirts at the parks for under $21. Cool beans!!

Men in diapers and our last walk around the world.

Men in diapers and our last walk around the world.

We hopped a boat back to POR. The boat rides are always relaxing and not so stuffy and crowded as the buses. The river water is an ugly brown. I don't think I'd like to swim or jet ski in it. I took some pictures of the Tree houses that were going up. I would guess they are a lot further along by now.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%207/WDW2008030-1.jpghttp://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%207/WDW2008031-1.jpg
Our boat driver was talking to somebody about them. I didn't catch all he said. I don't think he was too sure about who these were going be available to. The floor plans is exactly the same as the old tree houses but made of concrete and steel instead of timber. The old ones were falling apart and that's why they had to shut them down.

This boat was coming in to POFQ as we were leaving.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%207/WDW2008032-1.jpg

We dropped our goodies at the room and jumped a bus at the West depot around 2:40 PM. We were going to MK to catch the monorail to the Poly for 'Spirit of Aloha'. We were slated for the first show at 5 bells.

When we got to the Polynesian it was a busy place. I'm guessing the Friday crowd was arriving. Plus MNSSHP would be happening again tonight. The lounge was packed. I wanted a Lapu Lapu but I needed to make an important phone call.

I found the food court and dropped Doug off there. He was none to happy about that. I didn't think I'd be gone that long.

I hustled back upstairs to the phones by the elevators and called............................................ .................................

.........
WDW Travel Co. to book my trip for the following fall. I'm doing the bounce-back. Me and my BFF, Rockie are doing a girls only trip. We grew up together. We haven't been on a trip together since the 80's. Life got in the way! Boy is she ready and excited.

The offer was for POFQ or Coronado Springs. I chose POFQ. At least I knew where it was. We get the free dining and the price tag is $1800 for 7 days. That included tickets for the parks for 5 days. I will be upgrading to hoppers at the beginning of the year and letting them know we will be flying. Rockie is not good on long drives. She is a bit more of a sophisticated Redneck than me. An extra bonus is that it is her birthday while we are visiting!:cool1:

This took a little bit longer than I had expected and Doug was not happy with me. Not to mention when I got back to him, I had to call Rockie and give her the details. I wasn't racking up any points for our anniversary so far today!

The Poly is beautiful. I love the beach and the flowers. I also like the convenience of the monorail. NICE! AKL is still my fav though.

'Spirit of Aloha'
Doug and I walked toward the entrance of the luau and it started to sprinkle. I was thinking, " Oh that would be our luck. Last day, anniversary dinner, cancellation." They signed us in before we even got down to the hut. Lots of people were waiting for this show. The sprinkle stopped as quick as it started. It was humid and warm while we were waiting for the seating to begin.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%207/WDW2008033-2.jpg
We had category 2 seating, level 1. It would have cost us 109.07 smackaroos OOP. At least that is what they told me they would charge my card if we didn't show. We were on stage right pretty far but at the first table in front. It wasn't too bad.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%207/WDW2008038-1.jpg

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%207/WDW2008034-1.jpg
This was all gooooood! That macadamia butter for the bread is too die for! The salad had a vinaigrette dressing. Very fresh and light.
Second course.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%207/WDW2008040-1.jpg
Rice, veggies, BBQ ribs, and Chicken. The only thing disappointing was the ribs again. The sauce was OK. They were dry and tough. That chicken on the other hand was done up right. Moist and smoky - YUM! The vegies were tender-crisp much to Doug's delight. At this point the show began.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%207/WDW2008042-1.jpg
As the show starts I make a big mistake. Live and Learn. I told Mina I wanted a celebration cake for me and Doug. This is what she brought us.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%207/WDW2008048-1.jpg
A 6" cake. I was thinking 2 little cupcakes but whatever. Keep this in mind because I don't realize my mistake until a little later.
She also brought us these little ditties.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%207/WDW2008049-1.jpg
They are chocolate mousse with raspberry in the middle. I liked them. Very rich.

So the show is a story of an elder dance instructor trying to instill the true meaning of Aloha to her students. They represent 4 Polynesian islands. I'll let the pics do the talking. (I did especially like the men in diapers)

They also ask the couples that are celebrating anniversaries or honeymoons to dance to a slow dance. Sadly I haven't got any pictures of Doug stepping on my feet. We wished each other a Happy Anniversary.

A little side note here. See the pretty lady in that yellow dress. Doug said he was a bit perplexed by her. I asked why. He said he was trying to figure out if she was a she or a he made up ta look like a she.:rotfl2:
I said, "You ding dong, who cares. He or she, I wish I looked that good!" Then I gave him proper look of disgust. I do have to admit, she was a tall one with great musculature.

Overall this was not a bad show. I thought it was a lot more fun 19 years ago. It was more of an instructional/educational show then. I didn't care much for the teacher/student interruptions in this show. They are catering to a younger crowd. OK, so be it. I did like the dancing with the different apparel. The men were nice to look at. The food was good. I felt very rushed though.
BTW that 6" cake - Mina brought me a bill for that. $22.37 plus a 18% tip for that piece of carp. Tip is included with the basic show. Not for extras like this and the drinks. Remember that! That cake wasn't very good either. It tasted like it had been in a freezer for a while.

Our rating for 'Spirit' - :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
I think Doug liked it more than me. I wouldn't do this again for an anniversary. I wouldn't pay 50 plus for it either. If you are on the dining plan and you want to burn 2 TS credits, go for it. Especially if it's free.

For our last hurrah of the evening, we went back to Epcot by way of monorail to bus. The Monorail station was packed. MK was crazy. We arrived at 9PM to an almost empty park. MNSSHP was to blame. Good for us. We hit TT. It is so much more exciting at night. We rode MS next. We were feeling our oats and went on the rough side this time. OMG! I couldn't look away from the screen without feeling all a mess. I've never suffered from motion sickness but I felt like I might if I did not stay focused on that little screen. Doug loved it. It was a blast. No puking though. I'm so proud of myself and Doug. I tried to get some pictures. They didn't come out worth a hoot.

We walked the WS one last time. Spent our last snack credits on soft drinks. A nice CM at one of the stands gave Doug a free Blizzard for our anniversary. We sat for a spell and people watched. Cigarettes come out at night and I could not believe the amount of people with babies still out. I'm not talking tweens and teens here - I mean babies. We are talking after 10:30 PM friends. Some were conked out. Others were screaming. And a very few were still kicking. I was just surprised.

We browsed the shops and just enjoyed the atmosphere. It was so pretty at night. I was beginning to get a little sad. Tomorrow we were leaving this wonderful dream.

We headed back to POR around 11:30 PM. The buses were packed, as usual. I noted all the sleepy bodies around us. It was kind of funny. We were tired too.

This concludes day 7. What a week! Don't go away though. I still have a few things to share including our trip home.

Next: Days 8 and 9 - Gas prices and The Long Road Home

Saturday, September 13, 2008

We all hate this part of the story. It should say,"And they lived happily ever after in the beautiful castle." Yeah, I wish!

We were packed and ready, physically, not mentally, to hit that lonesome trail into the sunset. Actually it was the sunrise at 7 AM. We gassed up at the local Hess to the tune of $3.65/gallon. This is that day that all heck broke loose with that hurricane in Texas. We were listening to the radio warning of price hikes and shortages.

Oh yeah, don't forget, there's a toll of 50 cents as you leave the park area. The Citco on the Turnpike was $3.75/gal. Total for tolls on the Turnpike was $2.50. We got to I-75 by 8:25 AM.

We stopped in the Tifton, GA area around 9:15 AM for a spot of gas and some grub. The gas was $4.79. Yes sir, I typed that right!:scared1:
Cracker Barrel cost us $22, tip included.

When we got to Atlanta, gas was $4.99. I called a friend back in Hoosierland and found out is was the same price there. Holy Cow! The traffic was a little heavy but not slow. Them people is crazy! We were nearly run over a couple of times.

I think we made it to the Comfort Inn at Cartersville, GA around 3 PM. We noticed that the gas at one of the stations there was only $3.79. Doug hustled on over and topped her off again. He had to wait in a bit of a line.

We decided to eat at Acworth. It's just 20 minutes back to the south. A friend from the DIS told me about a good Creole/Cajun place for eats.(Thanks Rebecca)
My final food review for this TR: Henry's

The inside was not that big. They had a bar on one side and a dining room on the other. The seats were old church pews and booths.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%208/WDW2008001-1.jpg
We started off with the Seafood Fondue. They serve it with Italian style bread. It was so good! Plus they brought us a bread basket with cornbread and butter. This stuff was like eating cake. The best cornbread I have ever eaten.
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll186/lazydoxy66/Vacation/WDW%202008/Day%208/WDW2008004-1.jpg

I knew that dressing would be hot. WoooooWeeeee! I think I blistered my insides. It was tasty but let's just say they couldn't keep up with the water!

Doug ordered up the Louisiana OO-LA-LA.

It was awesome. Shrimp in an Alfredo sauce with a little kick to it served on a bed of pasta.

I decided to go with the Shrimp Creole.

This was also a hit. It also were a wee bit spicy. I had a feeling that Doug and I were going have a sparing match over the throne room later.
They did serve half orders. Now I know why. These dinners were huge. We both packed up half of it. We had no room for what looked like some very impressive desserts. Dang it!

Total cost was $50.51. Not bad. Let's just say I know where it is and to quote Arnold S. - "I'll be back!" The server was good. We left her 20%.

We headed back to the hotel and watched a little TV. We hit the hay early. One more day of travel.

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

We headed out at 5AM. Gas in TN was $3.89. We were in Louisville, Ky by 10:30 AM. That's when it started to rain and blow. We saw lots of accidents. We stopped in New Albany, IN for some Dairy Queen. They had just got their power back. Good timing. It still took forever to get our order.

The rest of the trip was uneventful. Just a lot of rain. We arrived back at the homestead around 3:30 PM to the sounds of the excited furbabies we had left behind.
I gave Queenie my lai from "Spirit".

Isn't she cute!!

Now just hold on! What's the rush? You've stuck with it this far. Might as well see her 'til the end. I've got one final entry then I'll have said all there is to say.

Geeze louise! Your a posting machine again!

Your trip to DTD sounds YUMMY!!! Ice cream for lunch and Goofy's Candy Shop!! What could be better?! What the heck was the deal with the guy with the broom?!?! Fool! What was he thinking?! Your much moree patient then me cause I'd have yelled at him!

We did Spirit of Aloha in March and I wasn't all impressed with it either. I thought the story line was kinda lame, I wished they would have just gotten on with the dancing etc! the fire knife guy was super cool though! The kiddos loved him! The, ah. For the $$$ you'd expect better! Plus, the fact thenight we went it was 42 degrees and windy :cold: I don't think we'll do it again!

Those gas price on your trip home were insane :scared: I'd have passed out at the tank! OMG!

The puppy looks so cute with the lei!!

At least it was warm while we were there. I think if you have seen it some people would enjoy it. I'm like you it's just hard to justify that kind of dough for a mediocre show.

Hits, Misses, How broke was we and some parting thoughts!

Everybody has favorites and least favorites. Here's mine.

Ride
Hit: Dinosaur!
Miss: Star Tours

Meals
Quick Service
Hit: Sunshine Seasons
Miss: None were awful but if I have to pick on somebody it would be Flame Tree BBQ

Table Service
Hit: Do I even have to say it again - Big River Grill and Brew Works
Miss: Tough one - 'Spirit of Aloha'

Park
Hit: Animal Kingdom
Miss: None

Snack:
Hit: Beignets
Miss: Apple Charlotte

OOP VS DDP
I've tallied our meals costs and here is the result.

OOP - $584.89
DDP - $487.80

Of course we got that part free. I would have to say a 100 bucks isn't that big a deal. If you consider that Doug and I still bought some things separate. There were times when I would have rather had an appy and just skipped the dessert. Most your snacks can be a dessert. And they keep widdling away at the choices. Plus lots of the meals could have been split between us. I will have to mull this one over when I'm not getting the free deal.

We took $500 cash with us. I came home with $50. Buuuuuuuuut, we used our credit card a few times. I was in the whole for $260 more than what I had intended. Our gas total was $288.55. Slightly more than what I had figured. I've done better at sticking to a budget in Vegas! Oh well.

My Final Thoughts
Disney did a great job for us on this trip. I had waited 19 yrs and I was not disappointed.
I lived out my childhood fantasies with my childhood cartoon friends and my DH. I was a pirate and a braer rabbit. I climbed Everest and went on safari. I went to Norway, Mexico, France and Mars in 1 day. I survived the Hollywood Hotel and rocked with Aerosmith. I had 'themeing' shoved down my throat in buckets and loved it. I laughed and cried and laughed 'til I cried! I screamed and I let the real world melt away. It was only 7 days but this trip was a shining star in a year that's been less than stellar for me and Doug.
I'm so glad we did it.
Thanks DISers, thanks Enchanters, thanks Walt, thanks Mickey!

Well what are you waiting on. Go hug your family and start planning your trip. Git! You'd think I had all day to just sit around and chat!

Thanks. Well I can't do much planning until Rockie looks at some of the links I've sent to her. She is so busy with her 3 girls, I'll probably have to plan a planning trip on some weekend.
