This is the first of two trips to Citrico's - probably our favourite Signature restaurant.

Service was excellent, we were looked after very well (as always) by Jamie who, after guiding us through the new items on the menu, brought the following :-

Amuse Bouche - a medley of beans in a sun dried tomato sauce with balsamic vinegar.

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/citricos00001.jpg

For Starters I chose the gateaux of crab

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/citricos00002.jpg

Paula, the Goat Cheese ‘Truffles’ Tomato, Cracked Pepper and Sesame ‘Truffles’ with arugula, frisee, applewood smoked bacon and peaches

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/citricos00004.jpg

and the kids the cheese and grape platter,

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/citricos00003.jpg

For Main Course, I tried the Pan Roasted Halibut with Heirloom Tomatoes and Arugula with a Warm Aromatic Tomato Water

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/citricos00005.jpg

Paula, the Rotisserie Pork Tenderloin with Porcini Risotto, Warm Mushroom Salad and Truffle Vinaigrette

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/citricos00008.jpg

Lois, the Braised Black Angus Short Ribs with Creamy Polenta and a Blood Orange Demi-glace

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/citricos00006.jpg

and Callie the kids Grilled Beef Tenderloin with Mashed Potato and Broccolini

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/citricos00007.jpg

All the main courses were excellent but Lois' really stood out - it was melt in the mouth tender (it was braised for 5 hours) and absolutely packed with flavour.

Chef then surprised us with a pre-dessert whilst we chose from the dessert menu. He sent us home made marshmallow with a summer fruit compote

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/citricos00009.jpg

The actual deserts then arrived, I chose the Cheese Course Trio with Pecorino Foglie di Noce from Tuscany Italy, Corsu Vecchiu, from the French Island of Corsica and Forme d’Ambert from Auvergne, France.

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/citricos00011.jpg

Paula had Lemon Cheesecake with fresh raspberry sauce,

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/citricos00013.jpg

and the kids had Create Your Own ice cream sunday

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/citricos00012.jpg

We thought we were all done but Chef Eddie :chef: had one last treat before we left, he emerged from the kitchen clutching a bottle of frozen home made Frangelico (hazelnut liquor) which he proceeded to pour into two chilled shot glasses - it was delicious :Pour:

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/citricos00010.jpg

10/10 for tonight for food and service - we bade our farewells and wobbled back along the path to the Poly :D

Next stop was The Yachtman Steakhouse.

I managed to get a snap of the chef portioning the meat in the cold room at the entrance to the restaurant

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/Yacht0001.jpg

the cuts of meat on display

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/Yacht0002.jpg

and the wood fired grill where the steaks are cooked

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/Yacht0003.jpg

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/Yacht0004.jpg

and a shrimp and citrus fruit salad

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/Yacht0005.jpg

not forgetting the bread with roasted garlic :eat:

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/Yacht0006.jpg

For mains we split the chateaubriand with bearnaise sauce

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/Yacht0009.jpg

Lois had the filet with red wine sauce

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/Yacht0010.jpg#

and Callie had the kids pasta

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/Yacht0008.jpg

We couldn't manage a desert but the kids had the chocolate puzzle.

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/Yacht0011.jpg

Everthing was OK - nothing to complain about but nothing really stood out above average

Oh wow. You covered a lot of my favorite places.

I regret that the only one on your list I've got planned in a few weeks is California Grill. You had my favorite thing: the foie gras. :lovestruc

Of course, I do have "food envy" issues.
But I think I have planned stuff that will compensate for it during my upcoming trip. ;)

The food was OK but I was disappointed with the character interaction and the service. Our sever frequently disappeared for long periods of time leaving us without juice or coffee and was very poor at clearing the plates. I also told him at the start of the meal that we had a DDE card but he brought the check without being asked, and without the discount. We had to wait for him to reappear and then to go and amend it. Characters were very rushed and it was hard to get a decent picture with the tables so close.

I find the breakfast offering pretty average at both the Beach Club and Yacht Club. Last time I did the Yacht Club breakfast because I didn't care to pay for the same buffet just to get some characters. ;)

They had blintzes on the Yacht Club's buffet. Sure, they looked like they came straight out of the package you find in the freezer section of your grocery store, but they were so good. :)

A couple of quick (but very good) lunches next.

First up is Plaza Gardens - we popped in after the Michael Phelps parade. They had only just opened so we were able to get a walk in with literally a minutes wait. As we were leaving 40 minutes later though people were being turned away without ADR's.

The kids got a 3 course kids meal and chose

Tomato soup

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/plaza001.jpg

Grilled cheese

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/plaza003.jpg

Mickeylodeon

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/plaza006.jpg

Paula had the cheese steak sandwich

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/plaza004.jpg

and I had the chicken breast sandwich with ham and swiss

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/plaza002.jpg

We also tried a couple of desserts

the apple pie

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/plaza005.jpg

and the brownie sundae

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/plaza007.jpg

It was all really good - the food was delicious and it was served promptly but without feeling too rushed. Service was excellent as well and with our DDE discount it wasn't much more expensive than counter service :eat:

I was looking at this Plaza Restaurant sandwich and thought to myself that other places would go for the fancier name of "Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich" and probably charge 50% more for it.

The second lunch was at the Turf Club at SSR.

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/turfclub002.jpg

It's quite dark inside - the theme is mainly based around dark wood funiture

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/turfclub009.jpg

we liked it inside but there is a really nice, bright outdoor seating area for those who prefer it

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/turfclub001.jpg

For starters P had the tomato soup

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/turfclub003.jpg

and I had the onion rings

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/turfclub004.jpg

For mains we had

A reuben sandwich

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/turfclub008.jpg

an Angus burger

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/turfclub006.jpg

and the kids nuggets

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/turfclub007.jpg

Food and service were both very good and we got a walk in no problem. A great place for a nice quiet lunch away from the hustle of the parks. :)

Here as promised are the combined pics from two nights at Jiko. The food was excellent, service was good and we were seated straight away at our ADR time. We had such a good meal the first visit we went back before we checked out of AKV.

Paula tried a couple of cocktails

Mount Kilimarita

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/jiko00011.jpg

Hangin' Out in Cape Town

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/jiko00001.jpg

The starters we sampled were

Pokanoket Farm Seared Ostrich Filet
Creamy Vidalia Onion Fondue, Rocket Cream, and Cherries

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/jiko00002.jpg

The ostrich was so nice Paula had it on both visits :eat:

I tried

Duck and Stonefruit Salad
with Duck Confit, Grilled Peaches and Cherries

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/jiko00003.jpg

and the

Barbeque Chicken Flatbread
with grilled onions, apple julienne, African barbeque sauce and four cheeses

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/jiko00010.jpg

For main course we both tried

Spice Crusted Pork Tenderloin
with Roasted Mushrooms, Gold Potatoes, and Sweet Onion Jus

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/jiko00005.jpg

A sight difference in opinion on the pork - we both agreed it was cooked perfectly but it was slightly too spicy for Paula, but I thought it was perfect.

I aslo tried the

Maize-crusted Halibut
with Vegetables of the Moment, Tomato-Butter Sauce

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/jiko00014.jpg

and Paula had the signature dish of

Oak-grilled Filet Mignon
with Macaroni & Cheese and Red Wine Sauce

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/jiko00012.jpg

The kids tried

carrot and peanut butter dip starter

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/jiko00004.jpg

Mac and cheese

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/jiko00007.jpg

Grilled cheese

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/jiko00013.jpg

and the kids filet

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/jiko00015.jpg

I also had the cheese selection

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/jiko00009.jpg

and the kids had the

"Smores and More"
... build your own with marshmallow fluff, peanut butter, melted chocolate, and graham crackers

I love those Mt. Kilimarita's at Jiko's (or Boma's) - and they're only like like $7-7.50...a real bargain by Disney standards!

BlueZoo at the Dolphin is next - it was quiet when we walked in at our ADR time and we were seated immediately. Our server was very good and when she found it was our first visit she gave us a quick explanation of the menu and some recommendations.

Paula started with a cocktail - I can't remember what it was called but it went down well :D

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/bluezoo00001.jpg

A 'basket' arrived next with assorted breads

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/bluezoo00002.jpg

For starter Paula had

Bluezoo's New England Style Clam Chowder - light and brothy with salt cured bacon, house-made oyster crackers

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/bluezoo00003.jpg

and I tried

Garlic Roasted Jumbo Shrimp - creamy polenta, fennel butter

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/bluezoo00004.jpg

The starters were excellent

For mains Paula had

Surf and Turf - beef tenderloin, butter poached lobster tail,

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/bluezoo00007.jpg

and I had

Sea Bass simply grilled on our teppanyaki grill, served with a warm crabmeat, lobster, dijon mustard and chives sauce.

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/bluezoo00005.jpg

The kids both had the filet off the kids menu

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/bluezoo00006.jpg

For desert

Orange blossom "Floating Island"- angel food cake, caramelized almonds, crème anglaise

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/bluezoo00009.jpg

Warm Chocolate Cake, with liquid ganache center, maracaibo chocolate cream pudding, peanut ice cream

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/bluezoo00010.jpg

Lois was most amused to discover a hidden Mickey in the ice cream

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/bluezoo00011.jpg

From the kids menu

Trio of cookie sandwiches
Peanut butter cookie, chocolate chip cookie, double chocolate cookie, vanilla and chocolate ice cream, caramel and chocolate sauces

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/aleckenyon/bluezoo00008.jpg

Overall an excellent meal - we will be returning on our Xmas trip and can recommend it to anyone who is thinking of testing it as well
