Hello everyone!
For those new to us, we are a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. For most of us, the ultimate goal is to train and compete in the annual WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news and training for various other events throughout the year. We range from beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness!

Hi everyone! I didn't get a run in today, but I did a little shopping. I got myself a belt for water and some new clothes to run in and, most importantly, a new sports bra! I'll go out for a run tomorrow afternoon when DBF is watching the games.

I wish I was headed down for the 13k, but I did get to do the Disneyland Half so I won't complain.
As for me I got in 11 Miles yesterday (10 running 1 walking) and got another 4 miles in today. First back to back for the Goofy so I'm a little sore. :rolleyes1

Surprisingly I am not sore after my run yesteday. I would have bet I would be!
We are suppose to leave on a Disney Cruise Thursday.... And now there's a storm in the tropics. Better go buy a few books!
Hope everyone has a good week!

Happy Birthday, SamSam!! Enjoy RFFT. I was eyeballing that awhile ago, but could never be ready to do a 10k by then (well, that plus it would be my 3rd Disney vacation this year and DH wouldn't find that amusing!)
Did my first 5k today (2nd race overall)--not a big deal to you vets, but given my poor "Summer of not-running", it was a mental boost for me. Finished in 27:28 (where the heck did THAT come frome?!) which is mind boggling to me since I don't run that fast.
Off now to walk the dog, go grocery shopping and watch/not watch the Lions lose!

I rode 14.1 miles on Friday, then ran 5 miles yesterday. I'm registered for a duathlon in 2 weeks, but soooo not ready for it. I've discovered I'm a slow biker so I'm not sure they'll keep the du course open long enough for me to finish everything ;)
Good luck to everyone in Philly this morning! Can't wait to read the race reports!

I'm almost 2 years older than you, I'll turn 57 next month but I'm much younger than I was when I turned 50.

Thanks everyone. I'm impressed by all the running you are all doing. Myself, I plan on going out in a bit to do 6 miles (walking). I'm hoping that since I have been training continually that the fact that I'll be at WDW for 11 days (probably not working out much) before the RFTT, won't be too much of a problem. I'm certainly not trying to set any records, just plan on having fun. :goodvibes

Happy Birthday SamSam!!
Getting excited for the Expedition Everest Challenge next weekend. Had to cancel my TOT weekend (I am crying because I really really really wanted to stay at BC and do the TOT race) I just can't afford it and also didn't realize I have a 1/2 marathon the weekend after so it probably isn't the best idea to do both and I NEED to do the 1/2.
Yesterday I got out and did 10 miles again. I definately need to try gu or a gels because my stomach was not so good again yesterday. I managed to get out of the house and to the running store early enough to make it with the 5:30AM group but I didn't end up even drinking my normal cup of coffee.
So I as I said earlier I am really excited to be going to WDW next weekend - yeah so excited that I ended up adding a day on the beginning of the trip and a day after so now we are staying 4 nights!! I figured while we are already up there might as well get a good park visit out of it. I hope I will be able to get my runs in during the week but I think I might be too excited planning my trip!!

AlohaJeff, thanks for starting the thread this week....
SamSam, Happy Birthday! Hope it's magical! :wizard:
mla1977, I think shopping might be cross-training... ;) Good job setting aside time to get those steps in!
Hi, Panda! I so wish I could go to the ToT (or RFTT) (or F&W) but DH says NO to any further trips this year.... :( Bask in the Disney of it all for me, too!
GoofyinOhio, I hear you on wishing you could get to WDW. But I'll see you in January! Nice work with that Goofy workout!
Maura, DH has also put me on Mickey Restriction. And this time, he says he means it. So, no food and wine this year. But you'll be there in January, right? :)
CarolA, PD for good Disney Cruise weather! Have a superfun time!
Mel, Hi! I'm sure you'll do great at your duathlon--you're powered by WISH!
RaceyTracy, hi! I so wish we could get down for F&W this year somehow. I think he really isn't going to give in on this one. :( But have fun for us! And let us know how you enjoy that Richard Petty Experience!
TnTsParty, have fun at WDW! I use vanilla bean gu. I bought several different brands and flavors and stuff and used them on relatively shorter outings (2-3 miles) near my house in case they upset my stomach, and the gus are the ones I like best. :) I also do sport beans, but they take me awhile to chew and swallow.
DH and I have been taking walks. Yesterday morning, we got in almost 2.5 miles in 40 minutes, then went to the farm to pickup our CSA. We stopped at a festival later that afternoon and parked over 1/2 a mile from the festival grounds, plus walked the festival, so we got in some more miles there. And last night, we went to the mall where DH had me walk to the furthest end of the mall and back, easily adding another half mile to the day's total. Except, as I was at the festival, I was in HEELS and not walking shoes (although they were Rockports...). We got up early and picked apples this morning. 44 pounds of apples, actually.

Fun Panda, what a wonderful blog. It took me most of my life to find my inner child. Even as a child I was trying to be 'grown up', as a young mother I though I needed to be really 'grown up' and was almost matronly (even in my twenties). As I hit my forties I finally started to realize that I could get in touch with my inner child, have fun AND still be an adult. When I hit 50, I started having even more fun, enjoying my life even more and felt like I was really finally becoming the real me. Fifty plus and loving it!

Panda, Wish I was gearing up for the ToT 13k, but sadly classes prevent it.
SamSam, Happy Birthday!
Tracy, I'm on facebook, but I don't do flair.
As for me, Today I got in 6.25 miles (do to my confusion it was probably more like 6.33) in 57 minutes (so roughly a 9:10 pace). I changed routes and it was hillier than I expected but it was a good workout. It was also my first ever run with gels. OMG the chocolate GU tastes just like pudding!!! And I love my hydration pack.
Anyone want to help predict my 10k pace?
Best,
Jennifer

Hi everyone!
Duckie: 44 lbs of apples? Oh my! What are you doing with them? Apple pie, apple dumplings, apple sauce, apple bread.....we have a wonderful orchard here in town. I went with DS's class last week for a field trip. We need to go back though and get some more with the whole family.
I ran today. I downloaded some new tunes before I left. I found a bunch of workout remixes on iTunes. Well I think it helped. I did my regular 3.1 route but made a PR of 36 minutes, down from a usual 38/39 minutes. I was happy!
Have a great week folks! Warm out there today, I want to the cooler weather to come back and stay awhile!

SamSam - Happy Birthday
I did the Philly Distance Run today. The longest I've gone in a while! Finished in 3:16:17. I was doing a r3/w2 sequence and was able to keep that up for the first 5 miles. Started feeling a little sore in spots and ended up walking just about all the rest. I've been feeling it the rest of the day, though. Back and legs are stiff.
Weather was nice, not too hot (except for some sunny areas with lack of shade)
It was fun seeing all the Wishers there. We had a great time!
Got lots of comments about the shirts. Everyone liked them.

Allyson, we gave some to my mom, some to my brother, and some to my brother's in-laws. We still have a LOT of apples left.
My mom made an apple crumb pie, an apple cake, and apple sauce between the noon delivery of her apples and dinner. We just got home--she invited us back to have dinner and a few desserts. WOW--my mom thinks it was the freshness of the apples, but that was the BEST apple crumb pie I've ever had.
And the discussion today of what to make veered to the Forrest Gump: apple pie, apple crumb pie, apple cake, apple fritters, apple crisp, apple turnover, apple sauce, baked apples.... :rotfl:
My brother thought I was kidding about 44 pounds of apples...and then we brought him some. :)
DH is already planning a return trip--after all, the winesaps, the Romes, the granny smiths, and the Fujis won't be ripe for a few more weeks....

There is a guy who works in our store Lab that turned fifty not to long ago. He told me once that he had been really scared of turning 50, like life was over and that was the beginning of being old. He said after he met me he decided that 50 wasn't so scary after all.
I'll just drop the 50 and act whatever age is left, so next month I'll be 7.

Did hell freeze over? My San Francisco 49ers are 2-1. How'd that happen? Now if they would just show a game on my local network one of these years. :happytv:
I forgot to mention. The guy who won the Niketown 5K, my wife said he collapsed after crossing the finish line. She though he was "playing" with the crowd, but then the ambulance was called in.
I figure he must have hyperventilated, because when I crossed the finish line, he was sitting on the curb, being attended to by the paramedics. He was coherent, and talking, which was a good sign.
Beware of those timing chip mats. I saw lots of people trip and stumble on them in the two different locations they were placed.
Finally, during the 1 mile fun run I witnessed two kids on bikes, and one guy and his kid on a Segway. I don't know how they got on the course. That's so wrong, and dangerous. Some people just don't know how to follow rules.

Jeff Yes, but the 49'ers had to beat the ^@^$!$@#Lions to get to 2-1, so we're going to call it 1.5-1 (the Lions are like a JV team)!
And kudos again for being out there with your DD and getting them into healthy activities. Not something that happened when I was young, and it can take years to get yourself back on track.

Maura: :cool1: Great job on the race!
Tracy: Yup, I'm a facebook-er too. I was gonna say "we should make a group"...so I did... "Disboards WISH Team". Pinkie Pistols! :lmao: I still love it. Now watch where you aim those things!
SamSam: Do you feel older? Wiser? ...have fun at RFTT. I want to go down for F&WF, so be sure to bring back a detailed report so we can live vicariously!
Tricia: Bummer about TOT but have fun with the extended EE trip!
Duckie: "Mickey Restriction"?? Doesn't that count as cruel and unusual punishment? mmm... can you share your mom's recipe? You are lucky to live in apple country! What's your favorite type?
Panda:LOL I like the drop-the-50 method! I'm looking forward to being 4 and 1/2 again! That reminds me of Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions.
'How old are you?' 'I'm four and a half!' You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five! That's the key.
You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead.
'How old are you?' 'I'm gonna be 16!' You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life .. . You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony . YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!!
But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you're just a sour-dumpling. What's wrong? What's changed?
You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone.
But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would!
So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.
You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!
You GET INTO your 80's and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30 ; you REACH bedtime. And it doesn't end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; 'I Was JUST 92.'
Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. 'I'm 100 and a half!'
May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!
Jeff: Nice dash for the finish once you did see it though! You seem to get the YIKES! runners. I hope that guy was okay.
:dance3:
For anyone who is on facebook we now have a group to help you find fellow WISHers. "Disboards WISH Team"

Maura -- Congrats on that awesome 5k time! :woohoo: So happy for you! Maybe your body was just itching for a run after your down-time. Hmmmm.... maybe I'll use that excuse when I am taking a break from running! ;)
Duckie-- I am so jealous of all those apples! Seems to me I should be able to find a local orchard and take advantage of the crop. Can't believe it is already that time of year! :confused3
Jeff -- It is great to see your daughter with that medal, looking proud. Kudos to her! :thumbsup2
As for me, I know I have been majorly MIA. Still crazy busy most days at work. I am running short runs 2-3 miles 2x/week and longer runs on Saturdays (besides strength training with a personal trainer and at least 2 additional days of cross-training). This Saturday was 4 miles and it wasn't too bad, even though we inadvertently did almost all uphills. I wish I'd planned it for an out and back so that we could have done the downhills, too, but alas, we ended our run at Panera and had Howard (DH, keenho) meet us there for breakfast and to drive us home. LOL!
I had the pleasure of cheering for many of our teammates at the Philly Distance Run yesterday, including Howard, Terri, Karen & John, Kira, Jen & Butch, Matt & Cindy, Anne & Robert, Pat, and Lou. It was sooo great to see everyone! :grouphug: I started a thread with pictures from the race, though I couldn't see many people in time to take pix. The Beijing silver medalist in the women's marathon ran this event and it was amazing to see all the elites just eating up the course. Awesome!
It is so great to see so many new WISHers starting to train and some training to train. The next couple of months will see a LOT of activity on this thread as people start to gear up for January, and I can't wait to hear from all our teammates who are preparing for their first races. :woohoo: :thumbsup2
I have to admit -- it is exciting to see progress in myself after being encouraged since the beginning of my journey, but not really believing it. Now I have to go tell a lot of WISHers that they were right and that "putting in the steps" and "training to train" can take even someone like me to where we want to be -- on the race course, ahead of the sweepers. Anyway, my schedule was supposed to be a bunch of charity 5ks through the fall leading up to RUNNING the Disney 1/2 for the first time (I've walked, wogged, and walk/jogged 3 halfs, 2 full marathons, 3 15ks, 1 13k, and more than 25 5ks). I kept saying no endurance races this fall while I am busy planning our vow renewal, but I THINK I may have been talked into doing the San Antonio 1/2, depending on my trial schedule. Once some details get ironed out, I am hoping to say I'll see many of my WISH teammates in San Antonio. Being at the race this weekend and NOT racing was kind of sad. :sad1:
Happy training, WISH team!

We drove about 45 minutes to a fantastic orchard that's been there for 100 years (really--this year is their centennial!). We were going to go out to Princeton for the Apple Festival, but decided we didn't really feel like going 90 minutes away.
It does feel like only last week it was 95 degrees and we were in the pool... Oh, wait--it was! Fall seems to come so fast anymore.
Is it almost summer yet?

HI everyone... Just a quick post. I did a bootcamp last night and my booty is aching today!!! Gearing up for my Rump Roast 5K this weekend.
Ms. Mightyduck... we do a CSA here also. I loved having so many veggies in my house. I really need to check into the picking times at our local orchard. Now you have me itching for apples. Last year we planned to go in early October and it SNOWED. So many apples froze and went rotten right on the trees. This year it has been unseasonably warm.
Mel - I still think you need to do the Dua!!!
Cam - WOW, you have done a lot of 5K's (among others). I was just commenting to DH last week that I haven't done many 5K's. But locally they are a bit sparse here. I envy all the big city dwellers!!!

I'm not stopping you. Here's the link so you can sign up real quick. Rock and Roll San Antonio (http://www.rnrsa.com) San Antonio is sooooooo nice at that time of year compared to the frozen north. You could think of it as a training run for Disney. ;)

If anyone wants to donate an airline ticket, I'd gladly go! :thumbsup2
Then again, there's that pesky thing about not taking any time off in November during sweeps when you work at a tv station.
Did they announce the headlining band yet? If it's the Goos, I am so there!

They haven't announced it yet, but they did mention that the Goos have done it in the past.
I thought you worked with the live news and wouldn't have to do that much during sweeps programming. Besides all the TV stations do is put the DVD in the player and hit play, then they interrupt your favorite shows with weather or election stuff. ;)

The Goos probably played the first Phoenix RnR race.
Mike, the drummer, is an ultra runner and ran that first race, while stopping at each mile marker to play a song with that band.
I'd love to see Collective Soul again too - they are awesome live.

Hey - I am very important! :rotfl:
And yes, sweeps is important since the news ratings set up how much you can charge for local spots. Personally, I do my best every day, not just during sweeps. Wish the company would understand that, rather than stressing everyone out in Feb, May & Nov.
I am so telling Chad that you said all he does is play the DVD! :rotfl2:

So does Chad turn up the volume during the commercials. :lmao: Although I better watch out because he can chase me down and beat me up.

What this isn't a chit chat board. It's not like I get to see everyone during the day to talk to them. ;)
Since we already have a bail fund, a travel fund shouldn't be that big of a step. Although it would probably get depleated a little quicker.

Duckie -- How fun that you came to DE to pick apples. That is a great website! We have been to Linvilla and also to Milburn, which is in Milburn, NJ. I know we've been to another place near Marlton, but I can't remember what it was.
Bill -- yes, you remember correctly that I almost didn't make it to the Minnie because of a trial and it got continued, and now the very same trial may prevent me from seeing Texas for the first time. :sad1:
Jen -- That stinks about LV, but at least you get to go to LV!
Kristi -- If I hit the lottery, you're in!
Laurie -- I hope you had fun at Dover!
WP - awesome pace!
mla -- yay for the nano! Hey, if you need music ideas, I am glad to oblige. I have the coolest music on my running mix. :)
As for me, Tuesdays are my 1/2 hour session with a personal trainer at 5:30 a.m. I got there a bit early and did the ab crunch machine. Then my workout with Jeff, then more tricep and core work so that I had 45 minutes of strength training. And then 45 minutes on the recumbent bike with a fun book and awesome music (the ATT Olympic soundtrack! :yay: ). Now I'm exhausted and we still have dance lessons tonight. And I am meeting my running partner in the morning for 2 miles. If I am feeling really ambitious I will try to get there early and do at least one extra mile. :cool1:

Hi Everyone.
Things are moving this week.
I hope everyone that wants to gets to go to San Antonio. Great city, but I am not putting anything else on the schedule this year.
Just got back from a quick two mile run. (OK quick for me LOL!) Have to pack for the cruise tomorrow. I was suppose to work all day tomorrow, but have to go to a funeral home tomorrow afternoon. One of my friend's DH lost his battle with colon cancer Sunday :(
I did see that Disney has a 5K run on Castaway Cay. If they had bling I would be there, but no gurantees since I don' think there is any bling! Bling would be cool... the Castaway Cay medal!
Have a good rest of the week!

Cam - We should start a new songs list thread. I never use my MP3 player now that most long races don't allow them. I just got used to listening to myself (so sad!!). It's really not so bad tho.
No training for me yesterday. My DD5 went to Sesame Street Live last night with dad and I took DD7 to a school thing. Then she broke out in hives and still has them, just worse. Poor thing. Her whole face was covered and she was crying that everyone would laugh at her. So I have her at work with me today. She sits with her blanket and watches movies.

Hi everyone!
I just got back from my first post-PDR run. I think I did ok, there was definitely some residual soreness burried deep in the muscle tissue that whispered some sweet nothings to my brain. However, after mile two they were all history. Here is the scoop:
Miles: 8.06
Time: 1:10:41
Pace: 8:46
Splits: 9:12, 10:05, 8:25, 8:37, 8:49, 8:33, 8:21, and 8:09.
I feel bushed, but good. Time for a shower.
To all of our friends participating in the EE event - HAVE A GREAT TIME!!! Show them where you live! (or post in this case).

Just alittle FYI for Jan 09 Marathon weekend:
The course has changed a bit for the Half Marathon - check the thread that is out there about it and it has a link to the map.
Also the waiver/bib number will be the same as they did for the Disneyland Half. It will be electronic. You will get an email when yours is ready and then you download it. I am assuming your bib number will be on it like for the DL 1/2.
Nothing for me today, I'll do some core work tonight later after the Dancing with the Stars.

Hi everyone! It is the perfect-est weather here right now for me. Cooler a.m. and I love this time. I get on the trail mornings then take Kirby dog with me for the p.m. walks. I think I'm finally getting into a better groove with training. Weather here has sure been cooperating. Slow me did 4 miles in about an hour. I'm still happy keeping my pace to about 15 min/miles. Some days are better than others, but back of the pack is where I'm at and still steppin.

I spent Wednesday attending the 5th Annual International Women's Leadership Conference in Waikiki, hosted by Governor Linda Lingle.
It was a very good event to get talked into attending. The breakfast was prepared by the executive chef of the White House, Cristeta Comerford. She is the first female to hold the position. She spoke about how she rose through the culinary trade, and how she landed the job.
Other keynote speakers were from across the country, and from around the world. It was inspiring to hear from Ambassador Kristie Kenny (Philippines); Chief of Police Cathy Lanier (Washington D.C.), and Moira Cameron Yeoman Warder of the Tower of London. She is the also the first woman to hold the position. She has quite the personality.
There were other speakers there, but those aforementioned really shined.
Just thought I'd share with you what the view at the Sheraton Waikiki hotel looked like on my breaks. Enjoy! (Sorry for the grainy picture, it was taken on my camera phone, and the lens was dirty).

For the inquiring minds who want to know...
I work for the State of Hawaii, and our department Director purchased a table for 10. The entire event is put on by Hawaii's Governor Linda Lingle (she introducted Sara Palin at the Rebpublican National Convention).
Anyways, the table had open spaces at the last minute, so I was asked to fill a seat ($175. was paid for me to go an listen to several speakers). The breakfast and lunch was included, so I figured a day off from work, down in Waikiki, nothing wrong with that.
How many of you out there can say you had breakfast prepared for you by the executive chef of the White House, and who just happens to be the first female Filippino to hold hold that position? At least I can!
The speakers were from all different backgrounds. Presidents and chancellors of universities, business owners, police chief, scientist, guard from the Tower of London, Sudanese refugee survivor, military helicopter pilot, and so many more.
It was a pretty good conference to attend. Of the 1,100+ plus attendees, there were at least 100-150 men there. So I wasn't the only male there.
I didn't attend in 2007 when it was offered to me to attend. I will go again if offered in the future.
If your company can afford it, I highly recommend you look into this event in September 2009. This was the fifth annual, and I hear that it keeps getting bigger and better from people I sat with.
If you want to watch videos of the conference, you need Real Player on your computer.
http://hawaii.gov/gov/headline-messages/2008/january/iwlc-video-files
I highly recommend these two videos. Moira Camerson, Yeoman Warder at the Tower of London. Also Captain Vernice Armour, America's first African-American Female Combat Pilot.

Hi everyone! I'm sorry I've been so MIA here, but the beginning of the school year is simply nuts for me. Between back-to-school nights, the kid's getting into their activities (soccer/dance/fencing/aerials/cello/violin and more!), and the start of a new admissions season, life has been crazy!
Oh, and there was a little half marathon I ran on Sunday! It was great to see so many WiSHers out there for the Philadelphia Distance Run. I've finally put a race report on my blog, so check out my link below if you want to read it.
I enjoyed it so much, I've signed up to do the Philadelphia half marathon in November.
I did my first post-PDR run today. I took it REALLY easy - since this was my first half, my body still isn't sure what truck hit it! I felt good, and I'm looking forward to racking up the miles again.

Hey everyone! Life has been crazy, but good. Carter is 2 months old now, I can't believe how fast the time is flying by! He is starting to goo and gaa and has been smiling for over a month now. His newest trick is sticking his tongue out when we stick out our tongue to him. I think we may have a talker on our hands! Wonder where he gets that from??? ;)
I started running again a couple of weeks ago. Slow and steady so far, but I feel like I'm making a little bit of progress. I'm no where near what I was before I got pregnant and the half in January will not be a PR for me, but I don't really care about my time. I'm just looking forward to seeing all of my Wish friends, having fun, and getting back out on the road again. :)
I hate to do a drive by, but I need to wash bottles and then head to bed. Carter has already been asleep for an hour and will be up wanting more milk in a couple of hours. I'll post when I have more time to talk, just wanted to say hi.

OK...I have a logistical question...
I am thinking of doing the Eat & Greet at the WWoS on Saturday after we complete the 1/2 Marathon... I'm trying to decide if I want to see if there are spaces available for a late lunch (1:30) or if I want to try to come back for dinner...
1) Dinner---We are staying at the Poly and had planned to do the Magic Kingdom that day after a nice cool down in the pool (maybe). How exactly could I get to WWoS from Poly or MK?
2) Lunch--I'm thinking I may feel too rushed to get from Epcot back to Poly, maybe have a quick swim, shower, change and get back to WWoS.
Honestly, I would prefer lunch because that would give us the rest of the day to do whatever, but I just don't want to feel rushed you know.
I expect it to take us around 3hrs to complete the 1/2 Marathon. Then I assume there will be characters and you can get your picture taken... This is my first Half Marathon and since I've not experienced this before, I'm not sure what to expect.
Thoughts??? Suggestions???
Oh and the reason I was looking at Saturday instead of Friday was the fact that would then have our Medals and could get out pictures taken w/ the characters...
Thanks!

Howdy WISHers!
I agree with Kira - life is so busy! The kids' activities are really keeping us on the go! I swear it gets busier the older they get.
So, I apologize if I missed anything on here. :guilty:
I ran close to 12 miles this week, average pace was around 11:40. I was looking over my "starting all over" ;) program and in a couple weeks I will have pretty much phased out my walking breaks. Not too sure my knee is up for that, but I'm gonna give it a go. My neighbor has pretty much given up I think. I'm sad about that cause it helped the time go by when you have someone to talk to. Oh, well... DH is able to run with me at least once a week.

Stacey -- I think a 1:30 lunch would be perfect. You should have plenty of time to shower and dress and get to WWoS in time. I'd think that you're more likely to skip a dinner reservation, or it would chop your day up too much.
AFM -- 50 minutes of strength training today -- all nautilus upper and lower body, plus 3 core machines (including 100 weighted double crunches -- OWWW! ;) ). Tonight is dancing (a dance party at the ballroom where we are taking lessons), so I think I can call it a solid XT day. Tomorrow is 6 miles, weather permitting. Scrambling now to up my miles in case I can do the San Antonio 1/2. Doing a 1/2 marathon 8 weeks earlier than originally planned is putting me in a crunch to build my miles. But I love the prospect! :cool1:

I did 1.5 miles today. My new Nike plus said more, but I still have to calibrate it. My legs are really sore too. I blame it on the weather and the first thing in the morning run. I may walk tonight just to get some extra miles in. Tomorrow I will hit the gym for the eliptical. We gave our old one away last weekend since it didn't work and we didn't want to put the money in it to make it work. Now I just have to find my card for the gym.

Lemme tell you WHAT.... My wedding reception was catered by Larry Raymond - The man behind the Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce. AND, he personally took care of DH and I... And it was AWESOME!!!!!!! He lives here!!!
Oh and my most recent claim to fame.... when I was in San Diego two days before the marathon in January... I had a connection in LA (took the red eye to Orlando for the marathon)... I MET OWEN WILSON. He was coming back from one of his many Hawaii trips and was coming in on the gates I was waiting to leave! Ahhhh....
Vic - Lou Sounds Cool... does he deliver???
So my training report... 30 minutes on the TM last night. I wasn't feeling it, so I did some speed work to keep my mind working. Up Next... Rump Roast Run 5K tomorrow...

Kira: Wow you've got some busy kids there! :dance3: :thumbsup2 Good job on the PDR!
Tracy: 105 sleeps now! :yay:
Krista: Aww do you have any pictures of Carter to put up? And it's Disney-- you don't have to PR to have a good race!
Cam: You are such an inspiration! What is your favorite dance? I think Disney needs to put on a ballroom something...perhaps a ballroom cruise :cloud9: LOL I so just pictured dancing with characters...a tango with Goofy....a samba with Tigger....a meringue with Stitch...:rotfl: BF and I are going dancing tonight also. I just got new dance shoes and whew they are taller than may others and that's an adjustment!
Jeff: Which Coldstone option did you go for?
My Coldstone failed me! BF and I went after my class last night and they had a sign "No free ice cream at this location" BAH HUMBUG!!! :sad2: I had a "buy one get one for a penny (love it or larger)" coupon, so we got some any way but booooooooooo--hisssssssss!
I have discovered my new food addiction-- Tahini-Honey Spread. You take tahini (ground sesame seeds, aka. the stuff that gets mixed with garbonzo beans to make hummus) and mix it with an equal amount of honey. Mmmm vaguely like peanut butter--only better! Actually, it makes a really effective substitute for pb if you have someone who is allergic.
I went on my 8 mile long run today. It's nice to finally be back to having long runs be ....long. It was going quite well until the last mile. I was running alongside the park that they are renovating, where there are some construction fences. There was a big dump truck about to turn onto the sidewalk in front of me, so I wasn't watching where I was going. I tripped over the "foot" of one section of fencing and completely wiped out. :headache: doi! Just a few brush burns and a good dose of humiliation. Needless to say the last half-mile or so was not my best. Oh well!
Any Garmin users out there have trouble with the heart rate monitor? Mine stopped working and I switched out the battery (it's been a few years so thats not surprising), but it still isn't picking up at all. Any ideas?
Tomorrow is a rest day, though I may go skating or do some bellydancing before our football game against MS state.
Happy running!

Oh, Claire! I am so glad you are okay! You poor thing! I won't tell you how many times I've fallen while running. I will just tell you I feel for you! I hope you don't discover any new aches or bruises tomorrow. As for the dances, the waltz is still the one that I picture in my head as being so elegant and beautiful. We are learning foxtrot, swing & waltz so far. I'd LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to dance with Mickey at my wedding reception. :lovestruc :faint: Poor Howard! Showed up by a mouse! (love you, honey!  )

Claire:
I had a half and half of the free sample flavors. Oreo/Nutterbutter.
Too bad you had to buy your scoops, but yeah for the coupon!
Garmin, double check that your heart rate monitor is synched up with your watch. May have shut off if your battery was dead on the strap.

Drive-by:
The kidlets have gotten me sick early this year. A third of the staff is sick, and many of the students. I have a sore throat and stuffy nose. :( I have a big wedding tomorrow (a friend of mine, so it will be an all-day affair).
Trying to rest up.
Good luck to all the WISH racers this weekend!

Before dancing and after work, I got 5 miles in. It was misty raining the whole time, overcast, ugly and wet. I had to make sure of my footing as I ran and couldn't see much due to the fog on my lenses and the mist of rain that covered them the whole run. Here are my results:
Miles: 5.0
Time: 42:49
Pace: 8:34
Splits: 8:34, 8:58, 8:18, 8:43, 8:15
Have a great weekend!

Shan,
The more I spend at Disneyland, Disney World, Disney Store, Disney Store.com, DVC, the better the perks. :rotfl:
Actually, I won the Doodlebops VIP package from a local new station by entering online. It included four row 5 seats, a DVD, a CD, a program, a coloring book, and the pre-show meet and greet.
My 10 year old wasn't quite as excited at my 5 year old. She just sat there while the little one bounced up and down. We reminded the elder that she went BONKERS :scared1: when the Wiggles, and Elmo/Sesame Street rolled into town when she was a toddler.

Today is a rest day for me, good thing, as it would have been very hard to get in a workout. My fiance and I are babysitting my two nieces and nephew all day while my sister and BIL are at a wedding. But, I will be back at it tomorrow with a 7 mile LR. I am actually looking forward to my run. I am not sure if I am going to do it outdoors or on the TM. I am going to wait and see how the weather is tomorrow morning.
Jeff--The Doodlepops shows looked like fun. My two nieces just saw the pictures and went nuts!!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

I am home from my disappointing lose to NC. If we could just get rid of Coach Nix I would be a happy fan!!
I got a bit sunburnt, so got home and took a nice cold shower and put on my "2008 Disneyland Half Marathon white shirt". It makes me feel better and all warm and fuzzy. Good memories. That is what makes the WISH team great!! We always WIN!!
I am a bit glad because USC and Gators lost.
Hoping everyone is having fun at WDW, I know I would be walking around witht the biggest smile on my face!
Hope the EEC is great and goes off without a hitch.
