Just checked out the pictures of the new BLT and Ummmmmmmmmmm, well, Ewwwwwwwwwwwww. Maybe I'm missing something and I know it's The Contemporary but it looks like Frank Sinatra's old room at The Sands in Vegas. Which I suppose maybe was the goal, but I think I'll pass. Just not my cup of tea. What do you think?
No offense to Kevin's pics, they are great! Lots of detail! And I do like the glass tiles behind the sconces and the one very cool Mickey, Goofy art above the weird white lattice bed.

We watched a Disney show on the Travel Channel and at the end they showed the BLT rooms and I told my DH it was ugly. Totally not my style at all!

The Bay Lake Tower rooms are awesome. They remind me of the exclusive "theHotel" suites in Mandalay Bay in Vegas. I especially love the Warhol-esque prints of Space Mountain-- hope they offer those for sale!

As unappealing as many people will find this decor, it's not as hideously ugly as the building itself. Actually, I would not have thought it possible to design a room anywhere near as bad as the actual structure, though it appears someone gave it a good try.
This abomination of a tower clashes badly with the Contemporary. Whoever at Disney thought this crescent shaped structure would complement a Contemporary resort appears to have been as clueless as the untalented, unimaginative architects who designed the building.

I was thinking the same thing. Wonder if they will sell prints?
I loved the Mickey and Goofy art above the white bed.

Not my style but I wouldn't say they were horrible. I think the view (from certain rooms) will be amazing.
I still prefer VWL....but I will have to stay at BLT(w/mayo) at least once.

I know I am in the minority here...but I absolutely love the room decor. Sure, it's not something I would choose for my home (nor should I with my ranch style home here in Minnesota) but it fits the Contemporary theme of the hotel quite well.
I would add on points @ BLT if the point requirements for 2brs wasn't sooooo high:scared1: .

Terrible, horrible, disgusting...although I could learn to love it if I could afford it....

Not my cup o' tea.
Also, are those some kind of posters hung outside the windows and balcony?!

I'm not in any hurry to add-on @ BLT but do hope I'll be able to stay there at some point. My kids loved CR when we stayed there a few years ago (at the Shades of Green rate -- best deal ever!), but we haven't been back...so now maybe we will.

The tower looks better I though it would. In the photos it looks like it blends pretty well with the style of the original resort. Those rooms are fugly though. The prints on the wall are really neat, but I don't usually choose my resort on the framed pictures in the room. And did you see all that stainless already showing fingerprints? It's even on the parts of the room door that you touch the most. Poor mousekeeping! :sad2:

I actually don't mind the decor of the BLT rooms. However, I do think the designers need to decide what they want the motif to be; clean, sharp, and stylish, or rounded, classic, and bulky. I vote for the former.

I think they'll pay a fortune to stay there because of it's proximity to the Magic Kingdom and because it's the only DVC on the Monorail loop... not because of the decor.
I could be wrong! Maybe (just maybe) there's some nut out there that is willing to pay outlandishly exaggerated fees for ugly furniture.

Holy 1968 Batman. The only thing missing is the avocado green appliances in the kitchen. I agree with the idea of having contemporary units in the CR, but the CR was "contemporary" when it was built in 1972 (or whatever) but now it's dated. Designing these rooms had to be a real challenge. Do they go with something that is truly contemporary or do they match the current hotel? It looks like they chose the latter ... and they relocated the avocado green to the chair backs .... :crazy2:

I am not of the the folks going crazy for BLT, but I like the room decor.
Kind of cool IMHO

I like the decor much better than any of the other properties. It's all a matter of taste, I guess.

I am leaning towards, eehh, take it or leave it. The location is the biggest draw for me.

Actually, the point charts are a lot more reasonable that I thought they'd be. For someone renting points -- they could get a value studio for as little as $120/night (based on $10 per point -- however, I think to guarantee something at the 11 mo window it will probably be at least $12-$15). Not bad at all when comparing it to the current cost to stay @ CR.

Those rooms are so . . . 2001 Space Odyssey. I do love the artwork, and the kitchen and eating table appeal to me as well. The idea of watching MK fireworks from my balcony is very dreamy and the thought of a monorail resort is exciting. But I HATE the white weaving weirdo headboard on the one bed! And the color scheme is a bit of a stomach turner for me. And I don't know what they made the sliding wall over the hot tub out of, but it looks like cheap plastic from the pictures. Eh!
We will try to stay here at some point because DD8 declares this is her favorite resort, but if I were going to add points in DVC, I think I would lean towards the new treehouse villas.

Seeing the model rooms of BLT makes me glad I bought into AKV. BLT just doesnt have the disney feel to me. I dont like the trendy look at all. It might look ok now, but 5 or 10 years from now, eh. Also, beside the higher cost of buying into BLT, your points dont go very far at all! Way too many points per night compared to other resorts.

it looks tiny....and i really don't like the decor at all...
but given that it has location, location, location, probably none of the rest matters...

Wow, it looks positively cramped! Wonder if that's an artifact of the videography?
I think I found its twin in Japan...looks a little like it. Maybe the BLT is based on the Japanese Capsule hotels....

It does look very small. I also wonder if they are the same sq ft as the other villas. The decor ho hum not for me. Now I am not so excited about them. Not my style at all. Maybe I will try for resale at BWV or BCV.

Kevin got it just right today when he said in the pictures it looks like furniture out of a box...like Ikea, I couldn't put my finger on it when I first saw the pictures. I may just have to wander over to SSR to check out the model when I'm there because now I'm curious to see it in person.
