I am hoping for attractions when I (hopefully) get my letter too. But I also have a feeling that I might be in FSF&B mainly because my interviewer focused on that, and I have been hosting for 2 years now at home. Either way, I'll be happy just to get in.

DD is very excited and was assigned "Quick Service Food and Beverage". The other roles she applied for are: Attractions, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, character attendant, and merchandise and I think the full food service and vacation planning (not sure of the last two)?

I don't know if she is going to join these boards due to her busy schedule, but she is a happy camper this evening! :banana: :banana: She didn't care what role she got- the roles she checked off she knew she would enjoy them all.:wizard:

That's really exciting, and it sounds like they're catching up on acceptances. QSFB is a great role--lots of guest interaction and it's got a pretty high pay rate (comparatively, anyway, haha). The lady asked my favorite park in my interview and I said Epcot, so I hope that might increase me chances of being put there (fingers crossed for Soarin', lol, since I 99% likely would not get HM). Thanks for the heads-up!:thumbsup2

Last time I applied they asked me what my favorite park was and why. I said epcot and that was where i ended up working. I got spaceship earth. I loved it. This time around she was more direct since I had done the program but I again requested Epcot. I love that park.

Personally I think it would be better to just do the Spring program. I did Spring Advantage and while I'm glad I was there for 6.5 months it got really tiring. If you just do Spring you have the option of extending your program or you can go seasonal (all depending on your record card and position availability...But I haven't known anyone to get denied...)

I liked the Spring program, thats why I'm trying for it again :woohoo:.
I applied to extend when I was down there last spring and even though I didn't pass my character audition, I was accepted to extend (in Attractions which I was at the time) but I decided not to :sad1: .

I applied for Advantage but got accepted for Spring, I was a little bummed at first, but now I think it's a good thing. If I want to extend I always have the option of trying too, so it's not too big of a deal to me now.

I waited about 6 and a half weeks for mine, but some people have only waited 2. It all depends on how fast she gets her paperwork to them, and how bogged down recruiting is with processing interviews/applications.

It has been varying. Some people have gotten their letter in 2 weeks, others have gotten the letter in 6 weeks (or more).

I am not really sure why it went so fast. My interview had only lasted 11 minutes, I did the online presentation. I think my recruiter is Michelle...
I am wondering if it went so fast because I applied last semester and got accepted (Costuming) but ended up having to cancel. But I really don't know.

is everybody excited!?!?!?!? i am on the cp right now!!my program ends on Jan 2nd. :( and i can truely tell each and everyone of you....you are in for an adventure! you will see everything! i can't give examples...because after all...we are on the internet! but you are in for an adventure that will change your life, for better or worse....you choose your fate! but let me say onething.....stay on your cp till the end. i have had so many of my friends get so home sick....they left, because they missed home too much. if you leave to early you will not get the full experience...and trust me...i love it, and i am sad that this long fun road is almost over. but i am trying to extend to do spring. but even if i am not able to extend i am so thankful for everything that i have learned.....and i am excited for each of you to experience the DISNEY MAGIC!!! but a different magic...a cast member form of magic! you will know how that magic happens...now you as future cast members get to preserve the magic for future generations! i currently work in Entertainment Costuming at the Magic Kingdom! i work on parades and shows. The best way i can explain it is..every parade and show at the magic kingdom....i do. and i have to say my favorite thing to work on is....SpectroMagic!!! when i work on parades....i get to really work on the parade....meaning that i jump up onto parade floats and dress! :) it is so much fun! but like i said before...i do not want it to end :( I am so excited for all of you to experience the magic! Knock them dead!

if memory serves, about a month before your departure date you will start seeing flyers around the housing complexes with information on how to extend.

That makes sense, I'm just thinking that it shouldn't be the case this time because I auditioned on the first date. Does it depend on how many CPs have been chosen or how many performers they have (i.e. including FT, seasonal, etc)?

that's kinda what I figured after posting that

I decided to shave my goatee (part of my trademark look around here) so that when people notice I can tell them I got accepted to the CP
This is the first time I have been clean shaven since fall of 2005, shortly after I got to college, so it's the first time I've gotten a good look at the scar on my chin from when a car turned in front of my bike and I bit it into the street... It's pretty thin and is smoother now so I'm not so worried about nicking it shaving. But I sure as heck need a new electric shaver that works better.

I'm driving from near Seattle... that's right, Seattle to my dad's place in San Jose (through some mountains eek) then taking turns driving, probably stopping for the night in Tucson and Houston, and maybe in Pensacola depending on how burnt out we are. gonna give myself a few days to get to my dads then we're gonna aim to show up in Orlando a couple days early and use any spare time there to play at Disney World or go see Cape Canaveral or maybe even check out some of the other area theme parks (shh)

Hey everybody. I applied for some professional internships but if I do not get one I am probably going to do the college program again. However, now I am at a different school and the campus presentation I am going to is next Thursday. Am I at a disadvantage by going to a presentation so late in the game? It runs the risks of some roles being full. But there should still be roles available.

If you can't pass the lifeguard test, you are placed in a different role. My roomie was supposed to be a lifeguard my first CP. She didn't pass though, and was put in custodial instead.

Thanks! I'm really happy that I got accepted. The boy is okay, he was only going for me I think. But yeah....I would tend to think they'd check at the end of the semester too.

I would just hate to accept and then get my participation cancelled for something like that and not be able to participate in the future.
If I knew that would happen, I'd rather decline and try next semester.

My advisor didn't really know anything when I asked at school. And I don't think it would be good to e-mail my recruiter and be like "hey! my gpa isn't high enough to participate right now...but it will be"

I recieved in email on friday from my school (the people who oversee the Disney college program at my school) saying that my offer packet had arrived at the school but I had to pick it up on monday. Ya torture.

Anyways, I was offered Attractions. Which is pretty ironic. Last year when I was accepted but couldn't go, I was offered QSFB which was not even on my top 3 but my recruiter asked me if I was interested. I didn't have a problem since I work in a Deli and I'm sorta familiar with stuff like that. Anyways, Attractions was my 1st choice both times and this time I actually ended up with Attractions. Think back to your interview. . . did they ask you what your favorite park was? if they did, your likely answer is your likely work location!

You can try emailing your recruiter, asking to work somewhere. Of course, there are no guarantees. But it doesn't hurt to ask.

vacation planner means you're in the booths at the TTC or the front of the park selling tickets to people, so you'll be trained in cash handling which means you should be eligible to pickup merchandise hours on the extra hours hotline

It all depends on which restaurant you get placed into. When I worked at Spoodles as part of my last program, I sometimes worked the breakfast and sometimes dinner.

hehe that's why I put ::should:: in there. I find that kind of stupid though. You don't need special training for the registers. The golf course had a completely different system than most merch locations, but I was still able to pickup hours.

I picked up hours as permanent greeter at the Haunted Mansion and that didn't require training. All you do is park strollers and answer questions.

No, I've never heard of it. I've only heard of people working one or the other. Of course, maybe it does happen. But I haven't heard of it.

Congrats!! Custodial isn't too bad. I was in custodial in 2007 (I was at Epcot). There is a lot of guest interaction, and a lot of freedom too. You either get assigned restrooms or streets (walking around taking care of the garbages in your area) for the day. If you have any questions, I can try to answer them.

You can pick up merchandise shifts in any location, as well as any shifts that don't require any special training (that goes for any role- you can get extra hours off the HUB as long as they don't require any special training).

At Animal Kingdom, we didn't need training for it. I always asked to go to parade though, and I'd just have to help direct people to walk on the masking tape marked pathways so as to not walk out into the parade. We also had stanchions set up. At the end I would get to walk at the end of the parade since after it passes each land, the picking up of the stanchions and ropes and putting the plugs back in the holes for the stanchions. When it got to Asia myself and the international CPs would be doing that, then it would go back to Africa and I'm not sure if they had to do that at the very end when the parade came around again (it starts in Africa and goes in a circle back to Africa). At my area we could ask to go but because people like me kept asking to go a lot, they started doing it randomly.

I was curious as to why it requires training elsewhere.

It didn't use to. I was able to pick up Fant shifts at DHS, and tons of PAC shifts at MK. Fant was changed back in 2006 though, and it was just last year that MK PAC shifts became attractions-trained (which is a shame. Does it look bad if you decline the offer? I'd really like to do it next spring, since that will be right after I graduate in Dec (and I want to continue with the company). Would it be better if I ask them about it on the phone, or should I just decline online?

Just stopped by my mailbox on the way back from seeing the Florida Gators win their first basketball game of the year to find I was accepted for Attractions, Spring Advantage. Success! :laughing:

Now onto to sorting out a few things lease-wise so I can actually accept.

You can just decline online. It won't affect anything (as in it won't be a negative toward you) I declined my offer for Attractions for Spring as well.

How did you audition for both Dland and seasonal?
You just have to make sure to tell the people running the audition that you want both WDW and DLR, and they mark it on your form. And for seasonal, you just mark (and rank) what you would prefer on your form. There are little check boxes. (This is the form they give you at the audition). So I marked a 1 by seasonal and a 2 by college program.

I'm just not sure if they are going to tell me separately for each or not...

I haven't applied yet. I don't think applications for Fall 2009 Program are being accepted yet. I am going to apply the day they come out though. haha For WDW too. :)

oh gotcha, well then.

reasons for being rejected include not passing the "interview test" for DLR, not checking off enough roles on the role checklist(both), no positions available for what you did check, how you respond in your interview questions i guess. or if you apply to late in the season, there may not be positions available.

also, i'm not sure if you can apply for both programs, as of now at least, you have to chose.

I got accepted, Merchandise :) Spring 09, arriving on Jan 12. Even tho it is not related to my Information Systems major I am pretty excited.

I was wondering, I never got asked in what park I would like to work. Is there any way that I can e-mail them requesting the park I would like to work in? Or that wont make a difference whatsoever? I would love to work in Magic Knigdom or Epcot Center. I would hate to work in Animal Kingdom or in a resort :X.

The good thing about Merchandise is that since Disney has so many stores, you may be able to basically work everywhere using the Extra Hours hotline.

When I did my CP last year I was assigned to a Resort (the All Stars). Even though I wanted to work at the parks at first, after working in all four parks and multiple resorts (by extra-hours or deployment) I learned that getting assigned to a resort wasn't that bad after all.

Both have their pros and cons, so it just depends on the place you get assigned. I believe you can email your recruiter about it, but most of the time they won't tell you until you get there. Indicating a preference could help you though.

Not a bad thing at all! As I said, all places have their good things as well as their not so good things. If you get assigned to DAK, as Joanna said, you'll get the best schedules compared to other CPs (like having to work at Magic Kingdom until 3am vs having to work at DAK til 8pm).

I'm just saying that after working merch at all other parks, for various reasons I preferred MK, studios or Epcot over DAK.

That doesn't mean you won't like it there. I met a lot of people that were pretty happy working there! If you love the park, I'm sure you'll be able to easily play the part.

When I did my first program, I was assigned to QSR at the BoardWalk and it was an enjoyable experience. The one good thing about working resorts is that you develop a close-knit family with your fellow CM's both CP's and FT. Though resort hours can be crazy too just like the parks.

is it 4 or 5 flights of stairs to move in stuff?
do either have elevators? if so, are they first come, first served or are times assigned to use the elevators. i am nervous about getting stuck with my stuff waiting in the parking lot on a line to get an elevator for a couple hours, (or more!) plus, my dad is going to help me move in and he can't do stairs.

There are 3 levels in the buildings. And no elevators, unfortunately.

It's the YES(youth education series) program. Whenever organized student field trip groups go into the parks, YES facilitates educational tours that use the parks as a living classroom.

i dress preformers all day long. like i get onto a parade float and dress goofy....i dress cinderella on her float. i dress prefomers and yes there is no guest interaction...it is amazing! trust me...it rocks

FINALLY!!!!!!! I gave up and called again, gave them my sob story of needing to know if I'm moving my family, and was told I would be receiving an offer for Spring Merchandise! :cool1: Plan B is in place! (Plan A is still the Retail Management internship ;) )

I just emailed housing to get approval to live off-site and I have so incredibly MUCH to do in the next 23 days (we leave on 12/27 to begin the journey down).
