And so it begins…another Disney trip taken by the CampbellScot’s! This year we got our full ten days in! It was a Disney Safari at Animal Kingdom Lodge and we had a blast!

Of course…being that we ARE CampbellScot’s we had our fair share of rule breakers and SMOKERS and general if not appalling rudeness…

But we survived.

I suppose before I go any further, I ought to make the introductions!

But before that…the Disclaimer:

This trip report is not meant to instruct, judge, problem solve, annoy, anger, or enrage anyone who is reading it. This is just me, recounting my vacation with my husband and step children. I’m not perfect, my family is not perfect, and I would never try to portray us in that light. I am hopelessly flawed. I’m controlling and bossy and more often than not a major pain in the rump. I am blessed to be married to a man who can see beyond all that and love me anyway. For some reason my step kids have chosen to accept my flawed ways and love me no matter how bossy I may be. I am human. I make huge mistakes…constantly…but I do try to learn from those mistakes and do better the next time. I’m just one Disney dork, remembering a trip and hoping to share the joy of those memories with others. Nothing more. If a person finds themselves disliking the way I write…or the way I live, or speak or parent or wife…please feel free to exercise your right to stop reading my report.

Yay free will!

OKAY…here we go!

Introductions!!!

First off is Jay…the father, the husband, the linchpin of this whole operation! He is level headed, practical to a fault and the most capable and compassionate man I’ve ever encountered in my life. Every time I turned around on this trip, Jay was helping someone…random strangers…people just gravitate to this man. He has an “I can fix it” vibe coming off him like nobody’s business! He’s a bit on the stubborn side…a VERY Type A workaholic…and a clean freak of the highest order. We work well together! I said it before, I’ll say it now…I won the boy lottery on this one. He’s a keeper!!

Next up:

Sally, aged 9. Oh our Sally Rally…my my how a year changes things! Last year we were all about Minnie Mouse. Minnie was THE star of the trip. To see Minnie was a thrill. Fast forward a year…suddenly Zac Efron and High School Musical is the main topic of conversation…at all times. Sally is head over heels in LOVE with Zac. She has memorized every single song from both movies…she’ll break into song frequently, out of the blue…”We’re all in this together…” Sally is still the ultimate rule following little soldier of Justice! Her tolerance level for smokers and rule breakers alike has gone WAY down…I didn’t think that was possible. How WRONG I was. Sally’s patience in general has gone way down. She does NOT understand people choosing to break rules…on purpose. We had some tears of frustration over rude people, pushy people, people cutting in line, smoking in non smoking areas, people smoking AT ALL...people choosing not to wear deodorant in her vicinity, her little brother…all the things that merely annoyed her last summer nearly sent her over the EDGE this summer. As much as I hate to admit it, Sally is not a little girl anymore. She is forcefully marching towards her tweens and has a little attitude to go with it. Jay and I got an inkling of what her teen years may be like. :scared1: Of course this is Sally we are talking about…she had more than her fair share of incredibly sweet moments…kind and nurturing moments with her little brother…cuddly moments with her daddy and with me. She is still Sally…but she packed several pairs of Fussy Britches and wore them often!

Teddy, aged 6. Teddy hasn’t changed over much since last summer. He’s still as handsome as ever. He’s taller and all angles. Which means he is even MORE clumsy and unaware of his body and where it is in space. That child stepped on my feet 84,000+ times over ten days. He stepped on everyone’s feet. Constantly. He had no awareness of it at all. Teddy is still his happy go lucky little self. He is still filled to the brim with mischief and an insatiable curiosity. He wants to know how EVERYTHING works. Why it works the way it works…who thought it up? When did they think it up? HOW did they think it up? He has an endless need to KNOW. He still amazes me with the information he retains and spits out at random moments. Teddy is a bright and loving little boy and the ultimate comic relief. He is learning how to annoy his sister in less obvious ways…which led to a lot of “What?” paired with innocent eye blinking. He is such a stinker…like his daddy that boy!

Lastly…Me…CampbellScot…aka, MissCammie. For those who don’t know this, the kids were introduced to me as MissCammie the very first time I met them. In New Jersey it is not uncommon for children to call adult women “Miss” whatever their first name is. This is also not uncommon in Texas, where I was born and raised. So I wasn’t uncomfortable with it…the kids weren’t…and it stuck. Even after we tried to get the kids to drop the Miss once it was clear that I was going to be more than just an acquaintance of theirs. But they won’t. So here I am. MissCammie. One word. :)

I am a misplaced Southern girl living on the East Coast. I love dachshunds and diet coke…insanely addicted is a more accurate description of the depth of my diet coke love…I am neurotic and bossy and obsessively germ phobic. I am a stickler for manners at all times…most importantly when eating, but I also require manners in public places, over the phone, in crowds, and pretty much anywhere in which a person is in the company of another living creature. I’m a nut about it. I don’t let it slide…ever. (see…bossy!) One still needs to have manners regardless of being tired, sick, hungry, or any other disagreeable whathaveyou. I have a wicked step mother eyebrow arch that I often employ instead of using words. It is very powerful. It frightens the children….which is my job…and I do it well…*EVIL LAUGH*

Don’t judge. It’s my job. Ask Lady Tremaine.

And that’s enough about me.

This was the year for our TEN DAY trip! The trip of dreams...the one that got away. Not this year. Nope. We were hanging on for dear life to this one!

As I said before, we chose to stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge this trip. Teddy is a NUT for animals. He was NOT disappointed. The animals were fantastic. Some other things weren’t so fantastic…but we’ll get to that later. Overall we loved Animal Kingdom Lodge. It was home for ten whole days!

Last year, on departure day, we woke up to some pretty heavy rain. I was worried that our flight would be delayed…but it wasn’t. We arrived safely to sun soaked Orlando.

Not so this year. Nope.

There had to be rain…hurricane rain.

I heard a nasty rumor about a hurricane called Fay that was said to be heading towards Florida…Orlando…DISNEYWORLD!

:scared1:

But it was supposed well into the Carolina’s by the time our trip was to start.

I kept an eye on accuweather.com and was satisfied with the weather predictions…

But I made the mistake of reading the threads on the Dis about hurricane Fay.

Oh my WORD…calamity was predicted. It seemed that every person that commented on Fay was POSITIVE that not only would she still be dumping on Orlando on August 21rst, but she would stick around for ten more days with biblical level rains and we’d probably have to BOAT from park to park.

:headache:

I never should have read those threads.

I was in such a panic over the weather that I was ready to invoke the trip insurance and not go. It was just too much to imagine our trip that I had been painstakingly planned down to the last second…was going to be rained out.

I was absolutely panic stricken.

Thankfully the predictions were wrong.

Totally and completely wrong.

:cool1:

Of course I didn’t know the threads would be wrong on our departure day. I had gotten into a bit of a funk in my head. I didn’t want the kids to be disappointed. I wanted this to be the trip of the CENTURY for them…and endless soaking rain was NOT going to aid me in this dream realization.

When the alarm went off at 4am, it was with a fluttery feeling of panic that I pulled myself out of bed. I had not slept much as I had totally procrastinated in packing and was still trying to get things arranged to my liking at 3am! I was tired.

Sally and Teddy were NOT tired at all. They were wide awake in their rooms totally dressed and RARIN to go!

When I opened Sally’s bedroom door I saw that she had her bed neatly made, her backpack firmly on her little back and a huge smile on her face.

“Ready for Disney MissCammie!! I’m ready to go! Bunny’s ready to go too! We’re all ready to go!!!”

:lmao:

Hey Sally…are you ready to go?

:rotfl:

This child was so excited. I was excited for her. The summer had been long and complicated for Sally. We’d had an unfortunate happening with the art camp that Sally had so DESPERATELY wanted to attend being less than…good. The reviews for this camp must have been written by the director herself, b/c the only art being done was some random coloring on construction paper. We had been told that there would be ceramics classes, and painting classes, and all manner of artistic endeavors. Not a one of those things ever materialized. There was bit of coloring on construction paper in the mornings and the rest was either being plunked in front of a DVD all day or being hauled out to a park in the heat of mid day and being told by the “counselors” to “SHUT UP” and “LEAVE US ALONE”. Needless to say Sally and Teddy did not remain at that camp. It was about a week before Sally told us what was really going on. Oh my WORD I was SO mad. We had been getting papers every day talking about the activities the kids didn't do.I got on the phone and made me an angry phone call. Oh my the “I can’t BELIEVE that’s” and “I will CERTAINLY be looking int this”…what a LOAD of poo. This lady was ripping people off left and right. GRRR. SO…camp was a bust. Sally was angry and disappointed and never quite let it go. She felt betrayed by adults who are supposed to tell the truth at all times. Being nine can be rough. She's beginning to see that people can be jerks...at any age.

But man you’d never know she had a moment of strife to look at her on this morning. She was all smiles. The sparkles of joy coming off of her were infectious!

almost.

I hoping that my current dark outlook would improve some so I could join my family in the Disney Bubble of Joy!

Teddy just about did it.

I found him laying on his bed, hanging upside down off it so that his head touched the floor…and he was attempting to color from that position.

:rotfl2:

“Ummm, Teddy…whatcha doin?”

The boy didn’t miss a beat.

“coloring upside down…”

:lmao:

Obviously.

“Oh…cool. Very artistic. Are you ready freddy to go to Disney?”

“Yep. I’m ready. I already went potty…”

:lmao:

“Good Boy Teddy bear!”

Jay was up and moving in vacation mode. He had the suitcases ready to go, waiting by the door. He was striding around the house in that in control way he has…making sure everything was where it needed to be, tidying the already spotless house for the house sitter. He was ready for vacation too.

It was only me and my Eeyore dark cloud that was having a hard time getting my Disney groove on.

I took my puppy outside to powder his nose once more before we put him in his kennel. The puppy sitter was going to arrive at 7am so he wouldn’t be alone too long. I absolutely LOATHE leaving my puppy for any extended amount of time. I feel so badly for him. He thinks we’ll be home after while, but we won’t. It will be the puppy sitter…whom he loves and adores, but I’m sure he’ll be confused. Poor baby. LAST year we left him at the vet boarding facility. I thought that would be the safest place for him. Turns out I was very wrong. He had a nasty deep scratch on his nose when we picked him up and I found out later that the dogs at the kennel were left from 7pm to 8am every evening. ALONE. In their sad little cement floored kennels. That was NOT in the pictures on their website or on the tour. WHAT is with all this FALSE advertising?! I’m also pretty sure that at least one of the guys working for the kennel had been on America’s Most Wanted more than once.

Seriously.

I was just fit to be tied about the scratch and I wasn’t going to subject my baby to that treatment again. So he stayed with the house sitter.

I’m sorry…was this a digression?

Anyhow…

It wasn’t long before the lookouts (Sally and Teddy) SCREECHED “The Limo is here!!!”

Sally snapped this with her NEW just for Disney camera!! Next time she remembered to open the flash!
http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u12/CampbellScot/Disney%202008/100_2781.jpg

And that was that. It was time go. The long awaited moment had finally arrived.

And here I was worrying about nasty weather in Orlando.

It did NOT help that the forecast for New Jersey was pretty much the most SPECTACULAR weather the state had ever seen in it’s ENTIRE history as a state…ever.

Seriously.

:headache:

We piled in to the swanky as all get out limo and headed to the airport. It was a white limo this year!

Cause that’s how we roll.

(or we have too much luggage and too many people to fit into a regular car and a van costs the same as a limo…and the kids so get a kick out of the limo…so we’re not nearly as cool as we might appear to be…)

We made it to the airport in no time flat. We got checked in pretty quickly too. Sally didn’t even attempt to fight me on the shoes off thing.

It was not out of the goodness of her little heart however. This girl had a plan.

That little poot had packed and extra pair of socks in her backpack to change into so that she didn’t have to wear the contaminated ones that had touched the airport floor…AND she brought a little ziplock baggie to put the contaminated socks into.

All I could do was shake my head at her.

Points for problem solving.

Sally is no longer the age that she just does what she’s told b/c she’s told to.

She’s gone and developed a stubborn streak our Sal…she is now aware that adults don’t HAVE to know every little thing and as long as she can figure it out herself, there’s no reason to engage in power struggles with adults about germy airport floors…right?

This lovely new personality quirk has incited some head to head battles…but mostly I’m proud of her for finding her own way.

Stinker.

SO…clean socks on, germs safely packed away…we headed to the gate and found a seat. It was mostly quiet except for the televisions that were set to news channels talking about Hurricane Fay…

:headache:

EVIL EVIL WEATHER!

The kids sure weren't bugged by anything. They were on their Disney high! Teddy was just thrilled to be able to see airplanes up close!

He is FASCINATED by planes. The child could watch planes all day every day and never get bored. He hopped up onto the chair to look out the window. On reflex I reminded him that he should not be standing on furniture…

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u12/CampbellScot/Disney%202008/100_2782.jpg

"Okay MissCammie."

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u12/CampbellScot/Disney%202008/100_2788.jpg

:lmao:

This boy is no dummy.

I had to give myself a talking to about my mood. Jay and the kids were SO excited. The stressful look Jay carries around with him had pretty much melted away. He had even done a cursory check of the area and announced that it didn’t look like there were any violent children fixin to board the flight.

There were LOTS of kids…of course…but everyone appeared to be fairly well behaved…or too small to actually hurt me if in fact I was seated next to a flailing, tantrum having one…

But I brought my hockey mask just in case.

No bloody noses this year for MissCammie. At least not on the plane!

Before long it was time to begin boarding. I had to laugh at the announcement that there would be no early boarding for families with children! EVERYBODY had children.

The airline isn't stupid either.

Teddy was skip hopping in anticipation. Sally was rolling her eyes at her totally embarrassing little brother.

We were ready to go!

I was actually greeted with a most agreeable surprise once I was seated…there was an ADULT man sitting next to the window and I had the aisle. Jay and the kids were in the row right across from me. And guess who was in the middle seat?

NOBODY!!!!!

Well YEE-HAW for me!!!

I was quite happy to be able to sit with more than the usual amount of room and read my book! (I had gotten the book “Chalked Up” by Jennifer Sey. She was the 1986 National gymnastics champion. The book was a memoir about her life as an elite gymnast. I highly recommend the book. Anyone who is interested in what those little girls are subjected to at an early age would be VERY interested in Jennifer Sey’s story!)

The flight was fairly smooth and uneventful…quiet even. There was a woman behind me who had never flown before though and she kept giving out little shrieks followed by “Oh my LORD…is that normal?! Are we supposed to do that?!” with any sort of a dip or shudder. As we got closer to Florida, and began our descent from the blue sky into the rain and clouds, the air got choppy and we had some bumpity turbulence…Teddy’s response was,

“COOL!!! It’s like a ROLLER COASTER!!!”

:lmao:

The first time flier was not as excited about this particular thrill ride.

She started praying…

Loudly.

The praying got louder as we were fixing to land…the plane was swaying a bit…more than normal.

So we landed to a chorus of

“Oh Lord SAVE ME!”

People were cracking up all around us.

I guess the praying worked though…because we landed safely.

In the rain.

And the wind…

:headache:

The Campbellscot’s had arrived. No one was bleeding...yet

We were ready to begin our Disney adventure!!!

in our ponchos...

:headache:

After coming home from a doctors appointment 1 week out from my own WDW trip with a bag of antibiotics for 2 ear infections and a sinus infection, seeing this post at the top of the trip reports board was definitely a mood booster!!

Another fabulous trip report is in full swing!

And I noticed the ticker... Oh boy! Double the CampbellScot's fun this year!

I too won't leave my puts alone after the boarder's last year... the little girl doesn't want to be picked up and clings to you for dear life like she was dropped and the (fat) little boy lays in the floor suckling on blankets, my pjs, stuffed animals etc, kneeding the floor with his feet and whimpering.... Needless to say I am paying my grandmother $300 (which I WILL make her take because it is only FAIR that someone providing love and comfort to my babies twice a day should be paid, I would have paid at least that amount to put them in that shady boarding facility again...) because she secretly loves my pups and offered to watch them. At least I know she will be great to them... afterall she was great to me growing up!

OMG, I am so excited to see another report from you, MissCammie! I haven't even started reading it yet :rotfl: . But I'll be right there!

OK, I just finished it. Great as always! I am looking forward to many weeks of your updates. :yay:

A little word about Teddy loving airplanes. My DS was the same way. But no money for Pilot training. So he got a degree in teaching. Well, not his cup of tea, it turned out. So he eventually became a General Manager for Pizza Hut. 70 hours a week, and not what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. So he quit that and joined the Airforce in the Officer program. Well, joined is an understatement, just to be accepted took months of tests, interviews, letters of recommendarion, etc. Hard as heck, you can't even imagine the thngs you have to do and pass, and 3 months of bootcamp were heck!
Been over a year since he first applied. He can't be a pilot because he wears glasses, so he is in the Navigator program. But he has to pass a 6 week course in flying a plane anyway, and if he doesnt pass, he can't be a Navigotor. :confused3 And they told the group this week that ithis is a weed-out program, and there is a 30% failure rate. If they don't pass, they get some other assignment.
GREAT!
Sorry for the digression, it just reminded me of the situation with my son. I think you can all feel very confident in the quality or our Military officers, LOL!

And I always thought they would just take any live body they can get! :rotfl:

Ahhhh, i was so excited to get home from work today and find a beginning to the CampbellScot's adventure!! I am glad to hear that you had an uneventful plane ride to Orlando- and the loud praying lady is truly humorous. If that happened in the seat behind me I would be worried that I couldn't contain/muffle my laughter enough- but good for you and your manners! I'm glad you enjoyed that book about Jennifer Sey- yeah she says some pretty crazy stuff. However, having been involved in gymnastics and gymnastic discussion for years now, it is pretty common knowledge that she has a tendency to, ahem, how shall we say, exagerate here and there. Ok, off topic- sorry, it just annoys me when people try to give the sport a bad name :sad2:

I can't wait to hear more about your vacation and Teddy's reaction to AKL!!!!!

Great start, Miss Cammie! I am so happy that I'll be able to live vicariously through your trip while waiting for our next trip in December. :goodvibes

You really ought to write a series of children's books - The Many Adventures of Sally and Teddy. Each story could contain a lesson in manners, etc. It would be a hit!!:thumbsup2

I was a gymnast too in my early years! I got as far as optionals and had a pretty devastating knee injury, which pretty much ended any hopes I had of going any further. I focused on "cheer gymnatics" after that.:cheer2:

I love the sport. I think it's a wonderful thing for young girls and boys to be involved in! I don't think things get overly intense until a gymnast makes it to elite level.

I DO think there is value in examining coaching styles. I had a coach who weighed us obsessively...before practice and after. We had extra workout if we went above the "line" of weight that he determined was appropriate for us. He was a nut. So Jen Sey's experiences didn't seem too far of a stretch based on the kind of coaching I had.

I do know that her book caused quite an uproar in the gymnastics world. I think that was her point. I don't think she lied, but I do think she purposefully outed some topics that she knew would be hot button issues. Did you see her on RealSports with Bryant Gumble? She's an interesting person. I met her once. She seems to be very angry and bitter about a lot of her young life. I personally think she had more issue with her parents than anything else.

Miss Cammie-
I have come out of lurkdom (after reading your first TR and preTR like a crack addict) to tell you how glad I am you started your second TR....I was neither born nor raised in TX but i have lived a grand combined 4 years of my life in Austin, TX and am a proud graduate of UT-Austin. I got my MSSW there. I love the state of TX lots and lots and also presently call NJ home. We leave for WDW 10/18 (4 weeks from today, wahoo!) with my twins who are 6 (just TEddy's age) and my 3.5 year old (also a girl). This will be our fourth trip together as a family and we are PSYCHED. Anywho, I relate to having a 6 year old (or in my case two of them, but mine are girls and I would not be surprised to find them trying to color upside down, fyi.) and being a SW and having a husband who makes frequent work calls, even during vacation (i've stopped taking it personally, in the end, i know he does what he does because he loves us and i've learned to let it go) and living in the state of NJ (also where I was neither born nor raised)...anywho, the point of all this rambling is, the closer we get to our trip, the more TRs I read and yours are my absolute favorite of all time (no pressure) for lots and lots of reasons, not just because of your excellent writing skills. It helps get me even more excited but frankly, if i get any more excited the special men in white coats may have to come and take me away.:rotfl2: Can't wait for more and thanks.

Yipee! MissCammie and another trippie! I have to admit...if DH ever gets me on a plane...I will be that woman in the seat behind you. I have never been on a plane...minus when I was very little and my Dad was still a pilot.

My new favorite photos...Teddy getting his feet off the furniture!!! :lmao: That is so something my middle child would do...and never miss a beat!

I also wanted to tell you that my youngest has Sally's view on smoking. He will stare anybody down that is smoking. Kills me sometimes! We talk to all of our kids about what it can do to you and they have been through the after effects with DH's parents, they have both lived with us during lung cancer and COPD. But our youngest has his own little mind made up about it. HE DOESN'T CARE FOR IT AT ALL!!!

Great start...can't wait for more!

Stephres
09-20-2008, 10:39 AM
Hooray! By the way, to prove that Megan and Teddy are twins, she did the exact same thing on an airplane once. Everyone was all nervous and muttering and she spouted out with, "Cool, this is just like a roller coaster!" Everyone laughed and I think it helped the mood.

Can't wait to hear more!

Yay! A new MissCammie trip report to start off my weekend! I am so excited to journey along with you and Jay and Sally and Teddy on your most recent adventure! Thanks so much for sharing with us!
Great first installment... I love how inventive your children are. From Sally packing extra socks and a baggie to Teddy not "standing" on the furniture. It just demonstrate what wonderful little thinkers they are.
Can't wait for more!

I personally think she had more issue with her parents than anything else.

don't all girls?

:lmao:

That darn injury. We could have seen MissCammie at the Olympics.

My daughter took classes at Bart Conner & Nadia Comeneci's gym for several years. She was just getting in to competing when her daddy made her mad and she quit going. Still makes me mad! I loved to watch her.

I guess I was lucky to have normal coaches as a gymnast. Yeah, I saw that interview- she is defintely an interesting person, and a bit bitter I agree. It's a shame that not everyone is lucky to have great coaches- in all sports!

You posted your first chapter on my birthday. Thanks for the special treat on my 40th!

That little poot had packed and extra pair of socks in her backpack to change into so that she didn’t have to wear the contaminated ones that had touched the airport floor…AND she brought a little ziplock baggie to put the contaminated socks into.

:rotfl2:
I laughed out loud at this one. Who else would've thought of that?! Such ingenuity and foresight from a 9 year old. Smart girl!

Yay for a new report! I can't wait to see where this journey will take us!

Question for the Keen Queen...we are now a three pair Keen family. DH and the boys each own a pair. There is a major problem though. When the boys come home and take them off, their little piggies smell to high heaven! And from the playground dirt and sweaty feet, their toes have a nice little caked on grime to boot! Now I know that MissCammie and Sally would never stand for such a disgusting display from the men on their watch, so how do you avoid (or remedy) this?

I'm glad to know I'm not the only "mean" mom...well step mom...who makes kids carry their own things, HEAVEN FORBID!!:scared1:  I don't even want to tell you the ugly things people said when I admitted that on the family board...that I make the kids carry their own bags and autograph books...you'd think I'd said they had to pull me on bedazzled platform and feed me grapes all day...they only did that ONCE and they LOVED It...

*ahem*

princess:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I often suggest that kids carry their own stuff too. I guess I'll have to watch my step. :scared1:

(If anyone else missed the PTR, it's here (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1900398).)

On to the TR...

Oh our Sally Rally…my my how a year changes things!

MissCammie, oh how I feel your pain! Or is that pride? My boys are growing up much too fast. At least I can still find them playing with Legos. When no one is watching.

I still say you need to turn your last TR into a book. :worship: I look forward to reading this one. Thanks so much for sharing.

I was so worried that Sally and Teddy's mom would move away with them - please say it isn't so! I'm a step mom too as well as a biological mom... and we are going to Disney for the first time EVER in 25 days! Can't wait! You write so well that it's like that great novel that you can't put down because you can visualize everything and it's just like you're there! So, looking forward to reading this new trip report and writing my own when I return! Keep up the great writing! We luv ya for it! Kat

Hey everybody,

I seriously feel wretched for not having been able to get to my report. I can't even begin to tell y'all how guilty I feel every time I think of it.

there's just been a lot going since school started. More than I would have ever anticipated. I'm finding myself gone from 6am to 8pm at night. I get home and try to spend quality time with Jay and the kids...which is kind of a joke at this point in time...Teddy is already in bed most nights.

I simply do not have a spare moment to sit down and write. I don't want to dash something off that's garbage...and I'm too obsessive to do that.

so thanks for waiting everyone. I do not know when I will be able to resume a regular posting schedule. I feel terrible about it. I should have just waited to start in the first place.

It is my hope that after this month, things should be more in place and I wont' have to oversee so much.

Y'all truly mean so much to me and I appreciate each and every comment.

thanks for your patience. I really am trying to get my life more organized so I can breathe without having to schedule it in!

And I just wanted to say thanks. I read in your last TR how you told Sally she could pout and fuss for a certain amount of time and then it was over. I tried that trick on my bf last week when he lost a brand-new pair of sunglasses and it worked! He's nine years older than me, but sometimes he just acts nine years old.

We built our house with a front porch. I LOVE it. We sit out when we have company. We sit out and sometimes the neighbors walk over and visit. It is so nice. You can solve so many problems on a front porch with a cup of coffee.

We just built a new front porch on our house and the house is younger than I am (27) so it's not just old houses. Of course, we live in the country and the house was made for my mother, who was a bit old fashioned in what she liked. But it makes for a wonderful way to spend those summer evenings with friends. :

Your going to love AKL. It's a reat place to relax if you any down days. Looking at the animals, no not our children, is so peaceful. There is a lot of things to do for kids. They also have story telling in the evenings around the fire pit.If you get a animal view room remember don't wear something you don't want to be seen in around the glass door cause animal caregivers are watching the animals and may see you. Enjoy the ladge you'll love it'Oh when you go to or leave the bus area, cut through the store it's a bit closer to bus stop.

 :wave2: Hi Miss Cammie! Isn't life grand; kids, school, work, kids' activites, family stuff, sports, volunteering...things are just crazy these days it seems:scared1: ! I hope things are going well on your end and that your family is trucking along as it should be  . You and your hubby have a couple of really cool kids there :cool2: and I know you know that! Those kids also have really awesome parents whose main concern is that they are healthy and happy. So, if I don't talk to you again ;) for a bit , have a great holiday season :santa:, and if you have a chance, drop "us" a line!

Hi MissCammie. I hope you're just busy with the season. If so, please let us know that all is well.

If real life, that's anything outside of WDW, is giving you grief, you should know that there are lots of :grouphug: waiting for you here.

Hang in there.

Hi Miss Cammie! I hope things are easing up for the holidays :)

Also, I wanted to let you know I used a Miss Cammie trick at work a couple days ago. I work in the children's section of the local library, and one little girl got VERY riled up...climbing bookcases etc. I told her to look in my eyes and to give me words so I knew she understood (like you did with Sally in your first trip report.) While the crazy library child may have called me the meanest girl in the whole entire world, I was thrilled I used a Miss Cammie tactic :)

Keep your chin up--winter break is around the corner!

Hey everyone!! Happy Holidays to all!!

Cross my heart, this trip report is most definitely going to get going again. I just had to take some time off for a while. Life gets crazy sometimes. Everything is good...this time of year is ridiculously hectic...as I'm sure it is for everyone. We took the kids and the pup to get pictures with "Santa Paws". BeauJack growled at Santa. He ended up sitting in my lap...he wasn't too happy with Sally sitting anywhere near Santa Paws either. He looks stoic and slightly annoyed in the picture. When the picture was done, he managed to wiggle around enough in my arms to give Santa Paws a parting glare and good loud bark! :lmao: Good boy!! After the picture Sally confided to me that she was pretty sure that the Santas she has been seeing in the malls are not actually the real Santa...then she said, "I, for one, am sick of it! Do they think kids won't be able to tell that their beard looks weird? I mean I'm not exactly stupid am I?!"

seriously. That's exactly what she said.

:rotfl:

When Santa Paws asked Teddy what he wanted for Christmas his reply was "Oh, it's okay Santa Paws, I already talked to the People Santa. But BJ wants a new bed and some dog toys!"

poor Santa Paws...totally denied.

I really do hope to get my trip report going again in the new year. Hopefully my schedule will be a little more stable! I hope so...I'm tired y'all!

I hope that everyone is having a blessed and happy holiday season!

Stay safe everyone!! See y'all in the New Year!!!

:santa:

Miss Cammie, it's so wonderful to get an update from you just before the holidays! Thank goodness everyone is happy and healthy.

From my family to yours, we wish you a truly joyous holiday season (and a sloppy kiss for BeauJack in memory of our Dachshund, Rupert, who passed away in October after 15 Christmases with us).

Please tell me you are not one of those people who has a stocking and presents under the tree for the dog. Cause you know what I will say...

you need a baby and then that dog will be what he is supposed to be, a dog!

Or it could be the two cosmos talking...

Merry Christmas!

Oh you can't tell me Scrappy won't be getting presents for Christmas Steph! I've already seen his Christmas wardrobe :snooty: I was just looking for something on top of DH's bookcase in his office. I found a greasy looking pop-tart box sealed with Duct tape. I looked inside and saw that the kids had stuffed some dog treats and a dog toy inside waiting for Christmas day. :rotfl:

Miss Cammie, I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas! Hope to see you in February! (find us on facebook!)
